Quest Start

Your phone lights up, replies from Kairi-chan, Keiko, and Midori agreeing to fall back to the Auditorium at your order. An error message lies in your queue from your attempt to text Luna, and that is probably by enemy design.

Cursing as you descend the stairs to the water logged and and heavily breathing Yoshi Sakurada, you return the phone to its hiding place among your gray robes. As he looks up at you, finally catching his breath.

“The faculty offices were cocooned,” he rights himself and you can hear a quiet anger and upset, probably regarding uncertainty to the Principal’s fate, while resting the amplifier case at his feet, “We won’t be able to plug into the PA system from there. There are manual overrides I can jack into in the Auditorium and the Gym,”

~The Auditorium is their nest,~ you explain and let your hands fall to your hips, ~I’ve already instructed your classmates not yet compromised to fall back to the Gym,~

There is a strange sound above as a mass roar of footsteps begins and suddenly stops.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year highschool student fifteen years old, presently in the guise of the mysterious cloaked hero known as Eclipse. When you were younger you protected the people of this city as the Champion of Love & Justice known as Sailor Moon, third to carry the mantle after your mother and elder sister. For extenuating reasons you left that title to your younger sister, though you have been making the effort to support her in secret.

“Then its the gym,” he reasons and takes out his phone, “I need to let the others you sent to the music room know,”
>>
>>43582977
Presently, your school is under siege from within. One of the students has been turned into a monster capable of possessing others into a spider swarm hive mind. This monster’s aim is to kill the girl she is obsessed with, and do horrible things to those she doesn’t view as worthy of sharing in that sick and twisted love.

You, as Mikage Chiba, are on the shortlist of those intended for horrible things. Luckily, you stumbled upon a clue to freeing those in its thrall. Loud and high pitched or high frequency noises render the spiders within inert and cause them to flee.

Which is why the drenched young man in front of you went to retrieve his guitar and amplifier.

Alright, writing.

Kinda sad that the server was down for so long, but now lets get to this adventure.
>>
We should try using the compact to try reaching Luna and/or the Scouts, maybe that can punch through.
Imagine we've been using FireChat or similar on the phones, no phone records and works without access to cell towers.
>>
>>43584225
No let's not. That way lies with us in sparkles and a short skirt, fighting in a way that we gave up a long time ago.
>>
>>43584251
What? That has nothing to do with that.
>>
>>43584225
How are we texting if we can’t reach the cell tower anyway?
>>
>>43584303
FireChat or similar. Ad-hoc cell-to-cell communications. Famously used to great effect during the Hong Kong protests.
We wouldn't want to be texting on open networks anyway.

Huh, just occurred to me that I think this is the same year those protests were happening.
>>
>>43584303
Carrier relay antenna on one of the corners of the school? Wifi? This ad hoc fire chat thing?

Please don't look too closely at the seems of my narrative, it will unravel everything.
>>
>>43584333
Makes sense.

And I agree, we should see if there’s some other way to call the others.
>>
>>43584346
I can do that.
>>
~Go on ahead and prepare your song of freedom,~ you pull the mask back up over the bottom of your face, not that he could see through your empowered disguise field, ~I have other matters to tend to,~

He wipes some of the water off of his face and picks up the amplifier case again.

“You aren’t coming?” he asks curiously.

You walk past him, and then look back over your shoulder. There is a certain impassive determination in his eyes, something you recognize from when you saw him backstage. Before you knew he was someone you already knew beneath that makeup, a look so unlike the young man you knew before.

~I’ll arrive when I’m needed,~ you explain and walk away, ~Much like you should now,~

He lingers a moment longer as you continue through the hallway. After a moment his squelching footsteps sound and squeak away behind you. Knowing he’s on his way, you break into a run and first let the cloak fall from your form and then retract your disguise field. Your long and whipping pink braid replaces the fluttering of the cloak behind you as you return to yourself as Mikage Chiba.

It felt far more like switching between your proper masks than previous transitions between yourself and Eclipse. It’s not entirely separate, but it might be something worth being careful about later.

Everyone is going to the gym, and it would cause undue confusion if you weren’t there. You think about asking Midori to cover everyone who needs to let fly another identity by using the power she received from Jadeite to create the image of your civilian presence, at least based on what you remember of his magic you once meditated on.

As you turn a corner down an empty hall around the long way to the gymnasium, you catch sight of a tall and broad shouldered man standing sentry in the hall. Well, he’s standing on the ceiling of the hallway. Definitely possessed.

Flushing against the wall, in the recess alongside a storage room door, you watch as he periodically turns. While you don’t know his name, you’ve seen him around school.

He’s in your grade, and among other things you think he’s on the rugby team. His stern face betrays a menacing aura as he turns away from you, and you make a snap decision.

Footfall after footfall is quiet as you break into a run from your hiding place toward the upside down guard. You manage to build up enough momentum as you leap high enough to drag him off the ceiling as your arm loops around his side underneath, or rather above, his shoulder and lean forward. Feet sliding off of the ceiling, he flips forward and hits the ground face first ahead of you and cushioning your own impact.

Picking yourself up and rolling him over, you find his face vacant and unconscious. Or rather, unconscious enough. He groans, grasping at awareness as his eyes are entirely unfocused and looking straight up.

“Messsssenger of hell,” he manages before his body tenses once before relaxing entirely to this impact.

You stifle a laugh at his near claim. A boast uttered in disbelief and at the point of defeat.

~Not on your best day,~ you break for your destination, not bothering to wait for the spider to dislodge itself from his throat.

The takedown was a delay enough, you’ve no more time to waste once they realize what happened.

Its another turn or so to reach the gymnasium, where you see Midori ushering Nui Takeda and Daigo Endo in. She’s about the haul the door closed when she see’s you, and waves hurriedly but quietly for you to hurry.
>>
>>43585576
Jogging on light feet to close the distance, she closes the door behind you and immediately goes down to lock the double door’s bolt locks. These doors, and the other doors to the interior of the school swing into the gymnasium. The sliding wall door merely opens a wall, but you see Kairi-chan securing it. From the look of things all the doors are bolted or blocked.

Yoshi is busy, without jacket or button down and with a towel across his shoulder, doing something with the amp and some wires beneath a large box in the wall alongside the bleachers. It’s mostly likely technical, the manual override he was talking about.

Keiko is busy fussing with a box on the other side of the bleachers along with that delinquent friend of Midori’s, looks like they’re trying to hotwire the motorized extending seating of the bleachers. Umeki Saori is just sitting on one of the basketball half court lines with her head in her hands, somehow you almost didn’t notice her there despite her being in plain sight.

Wait…

~Where’s Gai?~ you turn to Midori as she rises from her securing efforts.

“He bought Keiko-chan, Kairi, and Umeki-san time,” she says, “There was no way they could all get out of that classroom together unnoticed...Keiko said he used his alien powers or something,”

“Yeah, but he didn’t exactly look his best,” Kairi says while running up to the two of you and gives first you and then Midori a hug.

You think back to when you first met him as his true self, witnessing his ability to float and teleport.

There is a shudder from the exterior sliding wall. Chains and bolt locks hold it in place as for a moment everyone’s eyes shoot over to it.

~Did Umeki-san see him do anything...alien?~ you ask.

“No,” Kairi says with a sigh, “She actually seems really out of it.

“I don’t blame her,” Keio joins the conversation as the shuddering stops and you hear a motorized whirring.

The delinquent boy laughs as the bleachers begin to extend. He draws his knife out of the mangled keyhole to the control box and folds it shut. Daigo Endo seems to have fallen in with helping Yoshi with his work.

~Midori,~ you says quietly, ~I need you to use whatever illusory magic you have to make it look like we’re all still cowering with everyone else when the shit hits the fan, can you do that?~

Your blond friend smirks confidently and proudly points a hand at the top of her chest.

“Easily,” she smiles, pridefully in her abilities.

~Alright,~ you say, ~Let’s fan out, don’t want to seem too cliquey. Oh, did everyone see the picture I sent out?~

“Yeah, Mio Nomura,” Keiko sighs, “Fan club president,”

“So, are we just going to wait for Yoshi to finish setting up his stuff and see if we can dispossess everyone at once,” Midori asks before you can break away.

~I figure we can have Keiko go on the PA and piss them all off by rejecting them, and then we see how the guitar solo works against them all in one place,~

“I somehow doubt it will work against whatever the thing behind Nomura is,” Kairi laments, “You think she’ll be interested in joining my support group when this is all over?”

“I’m all for rejecting this,” Keiko says bitterly, “I don’t care if it shoots down my popularity after this whole thing is over,”

Her hand grabs Midori’s and she gives her secret girlfriend a longing glance.

“Between friends and people who care about me,” she says a bit more softly, “I don’t need those admirers, I have everyone I want and need,”

You nod. There isn’t much else to be said.

Breaking your impromptu huddle to tend to your own pending actions, you head off toward a target of your curiosity.

Meandering over toward Umeki-san, you spare a glance through the wire threaded safety glass windows on the gymnasium doors. Students and faculty are amassing at the end of the hall. They probably all know you’re here, but not what you’re doing.

The shudder from the sliding wall was probably just a test of how well you prepared defenses. That it’s remained quiet since only adds to the tension and projection of amassed power.

When you get to the halfcourt mark, Umeki-san is murmuring something to herself over and over. Her words are barely intelligible but are able to note the similar cadence.
>>
>>43586628

She seems definitely distressed, possibly the most out of the few people you’ve managed to assemble here in the gym during this emergency. Crouching down in front of her, you reach out for her shoulder only for the girl to be startled.

“Space!” she yelps out and then worriedly huffs, “Just, I need space. Oh, Chiba-san. You made it?”

~Yeah, are you okay? You seem kind of freaked out,~ you sit down on the open court in front of her as she runs her fingers through her long and unkempt hair and along her scalp.

“It’s just,” she groans and hangs her head again, “between the freaky shadow on the wall yesterday and seeing someone get a spider crammed their throat, I think I’m at my limit,”

~Crammed?~ you ask as her head whips up and you meet her pin prick wild eyes through a veil of stringy and a touch oily hair.

“In the bathroom, just before this all went crazy,” she recounts, “I saw it happen. I thought the little bastards were cute when you were flipping out over having to touch one, but watching it crawl into that girl’s mouth,”

She shudders. You spare a glance over at the boy who opened the bleacher as he is now fishing through a sporting goods supply cart, pulling out a hockey stick for good measure. Yoshi seems to be finishing up with wiring his amp and guitar into the PA system, evidenced by him donning and tuning his guitar before plugging it into the amp. Keiko has drifted over toward Yoshi and is probably talking to him about using the PA system for an announcement. Nui is approaching you and Umeki-san while the other girls are each taking a door and watching out the safety glass door windows. Endo-kun actually preparing by bracing both of his hands against the main double doors.

Past him you can see the mass of students has grown closer, several of them crawling along the hallway walls and ceiling on their slow march to the doors.

Its deliberate and creepy.

“Even I have my limits, and that was really gross erotic in a way I’m not into,” she pitches back and lays her back across the waxed wooden floor and spreads her arms wide before reasoning something strange, “Lesbian body snatching spider aliens,”

~Lesbian body snatching,~ you ask Umeki-san, ~I think I missed something,~

She pops back up and pounds a balled fist into an upright open hand.

“Of course you did,” she exclaims with a certain manic and fearful excitement, “You missed all the signs. I happen to be an expert on exotic and body horror driven situations both from my own recent experience and from a wide base of research materials. I bet if any of us girls started making out by one of those windows, the snatchers would accept us as their own and let us pass,”

Banging and force finally comes to the bolted doors. Hundreds of hands and bodies begin the slow and inevitable press and the chittering from your vision sounds. Though imperfect, you’ve found yourself here. The boy you don’t know rushes to the main door and jams the hockey stick between the handles as an added measure and braces the door with Endo-kun.

Don’t know about Endo, but Mikage has lower might then the other two and we probably shouldn’t be where everyone is going to be looking in a bit if we want to turn into Eclipse (and yes, I know Midori is going to cover for us, but we shouldn’t make her job harder then it has to be).

You don’t need to know everything that you already do to notice the logical flaws in Umeki-san’s deduction of the situation. After this is resolved, you’re uncertain if you should help Kairi hold her door, see what’s up over by the PA wiring, or just hide out on top of the bleachers.

~Less creepy body horror yuri, think more like Perfect Blue,~ you sigh and slide over next to her, ~Except the stalker is a girl who’s been turned monster like you were and can pull a Saika on people with spiders instead of knives,~

She stares at you for a moment, surprised.

“You know Durarara?” she asks, incredulously.

~Well, yeah. It was okay,~ you shrug as she appraises you, dubiously and with a discerning face.

“What’s the Perfect Blue angle?” she leans in conspiratorially.

~The stalker monster causing all of this is the president of Keiko’s fanclub,~ you explain while gesturing to the shuddering and suffering doors.

She sits there quietly and in thought a moment before rising up and planting her hands on her hips with a smile.

“You know, Chiba-san, you’re cooler than I thought. Still, it looks like I was right about the lesbians,” she confirms and then looks over at the doors with sudden worry on the edge of desperation, “Wait, are we already under attack?”

~You’re just noticing?~ you stand up as well with a sigh.

“I’ve been preoccupied!” she explains as Nui Takeda is upon you.

“If you two are done,” the short girl says crossing her arms and then taking a deep breath,”Listen up everyone, as Student Council President I’m taking charge of-”

She’s cut off by a brief sound of audio feedback as Keiko offers a confident greeting over the public address system.

“Hello everyone!” she says with a smile and an actor’s cheer and diplomacy, “I want to say that while I appreciate all the support you’ve given me...but this isn’t right. Mio Nomura, I know you’re out there, please call this off,”
>>
>>43590634

The response reverberates through all the doors and walls. Every voice beyond the doors sounds at once.

“NO!” hundreds of different voices call out as one, “Only I can love you like this, Keiko, no one else deserves to bask in your light,”

“See, Lesbians. I called it,” Saori Umeki says proudly as Nui rolls her eyes.

“Sure, antagonize the crazy monster girl,” the president curses and drops her arms and regards you carefully and worriedly, “Mikage they want to kill Sugimoto-san because they love her, they hate you and Kairi for ‘undeservedly’ becoming friends with her. The three of you need to stay down when they get in here,”

You knew this already, but knowing that Nui was trapped in that shared and overwhelming mental cooperative makes it seem closer. Turning people into weapons like this is so distasteful, but in a roundabout way it’s been your enemy’s main operating point this whole time. While you don’t know this Nomura girl personally, you can’t help but think this is just the worst of her exacerbated by the darkness you’ve sworn to help remove from the world.

Your phone beeps. Did Luna finally respond?

“Nomura-san,” Keiko’s voice rings out over the speakers in the gym and beyond in the hallways and grows far less diplomatic, “That isn’t love! I don’t return your feelings and never will. I withdraw my support of your club!”

It isn’t Luna.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO!” they screech, “YOU CANNOT DENY MY LOVE!”

The ferocity upon which the doors are being beaten increases. Metal strains and bends as pressure bulges in the doors. Midori and Kairi fall back to the bleachers as fingers and hands press into the gap and reach at them. Endo throws the smaller boy away from the door and plants his back against it. Hands grasp and peel back the panes of safety glass and hold him bodily along the arms and shoulders.
>>
>>43590644

“ENDO-KUN!” Nui shouts and surges forward only for Umeki-san to bodily pick her up and race toward the bleachers.

Yoshi holds his guitar tensely, plugged into the amplifier and patched into the public address system. Keiko abandons the interface and gives him a nod before running up to the bleachers.

“Daigo, let go!” Yoshi shouts, letting his unflappable nature crack, “Let them in, we’re ready!”

The text is from your baby sister, Koyomi.

The hockey stick between the doors cracks and falls on the wayside in twain, that other boy picks himself up and races back toward Endo and the main doors.

“Damnit fatboy,” he curses, “Don’t try to play the fucking hero!”

Did you tell him that he works for literally satan
>>
If it’s between getting him out of their grip and getting the spiders out of the hoard, there’s only one real way to save Endo that you can count on working. Sailor Moon is coming, and while you’ll believe in her timely arrival there is someone else you will have to believe in.

Someone you want to believe in.

Running to the interior side of the bleachers, to where Yoshi is turning his amplifier to ten, you call out. You’ve heard him play before and you know he can work a crowd. Once you awakened a magic in his music unintentionally, and everyone needs that magic now. You can see the worry and hesitation on his face as you approach, a moment of doubt and fear and you can see why.

Catching sight among the enemy mass pressing in one of the side doors is a familiar figure, Principal Sakurada.

His mother.

~Yoshi,~ the smaller side doors break from their hinges and are forced in by the crawling and chittering horde of those possessed, ~Yoshi I know you can do this! You have to do this!~

“Mikage?” he looks to you as he sees your eyes screw into determination.

Far ahead, the punk beats hands off of Endo and tries to pull him free with the broken half of the hockey stick.

~Save them all!~ you command, ~Set them free and show everyone what you’ve been hiding. Show them what I know you can do!~

He doesn’t look up. Eyes screw shut and fingers find purchase along the guitar’s neck as he strikes a chord and the swarm staggers.

~Don’t regret! Don’t repent! Play, dammit! PLAY!~ you cry out as his fingers dance.

Endo is pulled free as the mass convulses behind the main door. It echoes and reverberates through the entire building’s public address system and strikes them in waves. Those who had breached the gymnasium fall to their knees and clasp at their ears only a few paces in.
>>
>>43592389

Each note, each variance, each complex bar of shredding is a contained symphony of improvised weapon carrying not just his skill but the supernatural march of fear that you remember shook the negative force from the crowd in the club the night you heard him play.

A sneer crosses his face and his eyes blaze open in determination as the final note of the set is struck and held and the Amplifier beside you both sparks and blows itself out. The shockwave of collapse starts as a point from him and spreads out, despite the presence and speed of the speakers throughout the school it follows the, subtle to you, explosion of the amp.

As the last fragments of the sound echo into nothing, the spread of the gymnasium is quiet as Endo and the other boy run past the two of you up into the bleachers.

The swarm is still.

Yoshi looks at you, an appreciative look on his face as he drops the guitar and rushes to one of the side doors to where his mother lays among the collapsed.

Above you, Umeki-san and Nui cheer and laugh at the perceived victory…

It isn’t over yet. You can see her, walking slowly through the downed population of the school through the hallway before the gymnasium main entrance.

She is crying. She is rage. She is Mio Nomura, president of the Keiko Sugimoto fanclub and probably about to shed the guise of her denied humanity and reveal herself as Orbrachnid. Whatever that is.

Rushing up the bleachers, you grab hold of the girls. Kairi nods and Midori seems to concentrate. Keiko looks passed the bleachers and at the approaching figure.

“I’ll be using Jadeite’s power directly,” Midori explains and taps her ring, “He’ll keep concentrating on-”

She pauses and glances down to the main door. The cheering Nui and Umeki-san go quiet again as spiders spill from the mouths of the fallen and converge on that open archway. Step by step, she crosses over the bodies and into the room as the scurrying spiders well up around her feet.

“You can’t do this,” Mio Nomura curses as her face contorts in ugly rage while tears continue to pour down her face, “You can’t stop my love, Keiko. You don’t deserve to deny me!”

Keiko steps forward from your ranks, Endo scrambles up and trips on the center stairs of the bleachers, and the punk stays his ground at the base with his half a hockey stick brandished.

“My love isn’t your choice!” Keiko declares and then openly grabs for Midori’s hand, “And it isn’t one sided like your’s!”

Your second Knight blushes at the declaration.

Mio Nomura erupts. Her cry is an inhuman screech as she surges into the air, her hanging legs exploding out of her skirt and shoes into segmented and claw tipped feelers. The spiders surge around her as her body tears out of the rest of her uniform revealing a spiked and chitin covered humanoid torso, the swarm covers the empty space behind her and gives visible mass to the thing you saw in your phone photo.

Orbrachnid surges out, a humongous spider body with a human torso where the the head would be on any other spider.

Nui is terrified. Endo is terrified. The punk drops the broken stick and scrambles up to where everyone is trying to gather.
>>
>>43594005

On eight giant legs it starts to close the distance between all of you as Midori’s ring shines quietly and you are replaced off to the side of the image of all of you cowering together in fear and hiding your true position.

Yoshi looks up from his mother and calls something out.

“Mercury Bubbles!” another voice cries out from above, “BLAST!”

A wall of chilling fog descends on the monster and a five girls in a Sailor suits drop from somewhere unseen to land before the base of the bleachers.

Eyes are on them. You don the regalia of Eclipse as your knights suit up. Keiko draws out her wand.

“Sol Power Make up,” and beneath the illusory blind she is transformed.

“Your heart has been twisted by darkness,” your baby sister proudly offers and strikes a pose, “We who fight on behalf of love and justice will unravel those binds, and in the name of the moon punish you!”

“That’s right!”

Sailor Sol moves wide to flank the screaming and mist shrouded monster from the back and make her entrance. Beside you, Nephrite Knight and Jadeite Knight materialize their swords.

Spreading your orders telepathically, you and your knights take to the the leaping air as you shimmer a force screen into existence. Sailor Sol announces herself behind Orbrachnid and announces herself.

“They aren’t alone, fighting for a new Era, Sailor Sol is here to fight with Brilliance and Elegance!”

You wonder, for a moment, when she had the chance to interact with Auntie Michiru and Auntie Haruka to learn that speil. Probably while you were in the hospital. Still, with a gesture as you hide among the rafters, you watch intently as the spider monster Orbrachnid makes a move.

Something is happening within the fog cloud, spinning of webs or something else happens as she screeches and roars at the arrived Sailor Senshi. There is a rushing of wind as it spins on three legs, while screens of taught webbing have been threaded to the distance between her remaining legs. Serving as a fan, it clears the chilling fog of bubbles that held it in check.

It screeches and laughs and looms over the girls.

“Time to crush this bug!” Jupiter claims with a clenched fist.

Sailor Jupiter charges, sliding on her knees beneath the humongous spider and hefts up one of the main doors torn the hinge. She swings it hard twice, smashing against the bulbous back end of Orbrachnid’s body. Both strikes Bending the metal door until it breaks. Even from here you can feel the Planet Power radiating off of her for the impressive feat.

Sailor Moon takes a deep breath and holds her ground and issues an order to her allies as her aura unfolds and bolsters her allies.

“Watch out everyone! Stay on guard and keep your eyes open!” Sailor Moon says taking a defensive position in front of the central staircase of the rising seats where Midori’s illusory copies and the other students stand and watch, in wonder.

“You got it Sailor Moon!” Sailor Mercury replies and surges with sudden forceful energy.

Her short blue hair and the loose pieces of her uniform whip wildly as she points her finger. Without uttering a word you sense the psionic expenditure as she mixes her powers of ice and water with psychic power and lances a ray of chilling energy at the spider.

It breaks on her armored form, form as frost as she shrieks in pain. The whipping invisible energy swirling around her dies down and she grabs her head in a daze.

Sailor Venus leaps back onto one of the benches on the bleachers and points her finger toward the monster.

“Venus Crescent Super Beam!” she cries out as two beams of light spiral forward and blast into Orbrachnid’s torso.

Sailor Mars stands in front of the dazed Sailor Mercury and brandishes a prayer strip. She channels a burst of light that washes over the spider monster as the paper is burned up.

Beside you, Nephrite Knight holds her action.

You hold and observe from your location amongst the girder rafters on top of the gymnasium. Jadeite Knight follows your example, though you can see her nervousness as Sailor Sol takes action beneath you.

Cupping both hands together she points up at the battered and angry monster.

“Searing Solar Beam!” she cries as an outpouring of brilliant energy shatters the oversized and bulbous spider body, leaving evaporating black spiders falling across the gymnasium on their back.

Landing on pedipalp segmented legs, Orbrachnid opens its fanged mouth as its bodily armor begins to crack. Much like how the monster at the theater shed its armor, this one does so too, revealing a revealingly dressed Mio Nomura with eight arms. Her arms slam together and she spews out a mass of black webbing in a cone at Sailor Moon, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Mercury. It holds fast and sticks them to the ground.

“Hahaha!” the transformed arachnid woman cackles, “Once you’re out of the way I will be free to spread my love all over,”

Sailor Jupiter growls.

“If you think you can take us!” as she charges the enemy and engages her in a grapple, which even with her indomitable strength proves a poor choice against someone with so many limbs.

“Feisty,” the monster comments as four arms pull and spread Sailor Jupiter’s wrists and ankles as she struggles.

The laughter resumes as she points her hostage’s back at Sailor Sol, her naturally positioned arms resting on her hips while one hand points at the remaining Senshi and the other flips her colored bob of hair.

“Looks like it’s down to one on one,” Orbrachnid scoffs as the other Sailor Guardians struggle and fail to move within the black and gooey webbing and Sailor Jupiter struggles within her casual grasp, “Once I blot out your Sun, there will be nothing to stop me taking my Keiko!”

-Your order’s Princess?- Nephrite Knight asks you over the telepathic connection, whilst Jadeite Knight glances to you for guidance as well.

Below, you see your little sister look up the benches and stairs toward where you cower and huddle in worry. You know she wants to call out to you, but then her expression changes as her attention dart over to the far end of your huddle where Keiko Sugimoto stands. Whipping her head around, pulling against the webbing, she looks back over at Sailor Sol in confusion.

~It’s time to make our entrance,~ you whisper aloud, ~The two of you cut the bound Senshi free, I have Jupiter,~

“Right,” they respond in unison as the three of you pitch forward and drop from the rafters.

Drawing a rose from within the confines of your cloak, your hurl the flower toward Orbrachnid with startling accuracy. It cuts, with the thorns along the stem, across the tops and bottoms of her multiple extended arms before embedding in the side of the sliding exterior wall. Jupiter stumbles back free and looks over where you land.

The enemy hisses in pain, bleeding black and smoking ichor.

~The sick love of obsession cannot stand against the true light of love,~ you intone loudly and look over toward your allies.

Somehow in trying to cut the the Senshi free with her longsword, Nephrite Knight has managed to entangle herself in the black and sticky mess. Hurriedly, Jadeite Knight has managed to free Sailor Moon first.

~Now, Sailor Moon!~ you cry out to your sister, ~Show them the true strength of love against obsession!~

Sailor Jupiter falls back alongside Sailor Sol, her features tired and her body language exhausted.

“Watch out! Her touch is draining!” she exclaims as Sailor Sol comes up beside her and lays a glowing and healing hand upon her shoulder, bolstering her vitality and returning color to her face.

“She won’t get another chance!” Sailor New Moon rises, loose strands of black still sticking to her, “Moon Healing-”

Brandishing her broach and crystal forward, a swirl of energy crashes out of her in blinding silver light.

“ESCALATION!”

The monster screams as the light overtakes her. Extra arms vanish from her silhouette, and as the light fades she is clad in her school uniform and standing confused and alone in the midst of the school room.

The black webbing vanishes. Many of the people fallen in the doorways groan and begin to wake. Your observers cheer in relief and victory.

Your Knights and Sol used the cover of the light to retreat back to within the area of Midori’s illusion. Only the fake you remains among them.

While the blinding light continues, you also leapt the distance to the top of the bleachers and resumed your position within the huddles as Midori let the illusory drop.

Free of the black webbing, the Sailor Senshi regard the collected group of you.

“Well, the day is saved!” Sailor New Moon declares, “Stay safe, everyone!”

The lot of you watch and cheer and wave. Most of you.

“I was right,” Umeki-san smirks confidently, practically jumping up and down, running over to your side of the bleachers and grabs her shoulders, “I was right about the Lesbians!”

She pauses, looks passed you toward Midori and Keiko. Midori looking particularly displeased while Keiko giggles.

“I mean, not about you guys,” Umeki-san says raising her hands defensively, “Though you totally are and I know and I’m not telling anyone. I mean who would I tell?”

“Just stop, Umeki-san,” Midori groans and rubs her temples, “Please just stop,”

“Aww,” Keiko smiles, clearly past the point of caring wraps Keiko in a hug from behind, “Midori you are so cute when you’re frustrated,”

“Eh?” she squeaks.

“I’m feeling confident and I don’t want to hide,” Keiko says in a slightly tired and resolved voice to Midori, “I mean, if it’s okay with you,”

The five Sailor Guardians rush down the main hallway, leaping through the slowly waking masses of students and faculty. Midori just stutters there in Keiko’s grasp.

As they pass by Mio Nomura, she glances up to the bleachers and you see the sudden realization and memories of what parts of her actions she can remember return to her in the haze of Healing Escalation. Her eyes zero in on Keiko and Midori, and she falls to her knees between the sight of them like that and the revelation of her own actions.

“Keiko,” Kairi offers, “We should probably go talk to her,”

“Agreed,” she sighs and disengages from Midori.

You walk down the steps at a slower pace than the others, as Kairi and Keiko move with purpose to help Mio Nomura cope with what happened. Midori remains up on the top bench, having sat down, Umeki-san taking a seat next to her and waving a hand in front of her slightly blank and blushing face.

Once at the bottom of the steps you turn to the side and approach Yoshi Sakurada and his mother. Your Principal has just finished retching, pulling saliva soak webbing from her throat and groaning.

“Ugh, I wish this didn’t take me back,” she moans and hangs her head between her shoulders.

“I didn’t think your self proclaimed ‘misspent youth’ involved breaking down doors and coughing up spiders,,” Yoshi tries to comfort her with some levity as he rubs her back.

“No. Feeling drained, mass student possession, lost time, and a blonde Sailor Moon,” she clarifies and then glances over to her son, “Since when do you play like that, Yoshi?”

“Well, I mean I-” he stammers and searches for some explanation.

~Principal Sakurada, are you okay?~ you close the distance and buy Yoshi a bit of time to figure out his answer.

“Oh, Chiba-san,” her face looks suddenly guilty, “I should be asking if you are okay after what almost happened,”

~I’ll be fine,~ you smile, ~Say did you see how amazing Yoshi was freeing everyone with his music,~

“Yes, I did it was quite unexpected,” she pauses in slight realization and glances between the two of you.

“Please, Mikage, you’re embarrassing me,” Yoshi resume his normal stoic mannerisms, “Though I appreciate helping me get where I needed to be to play that,”

~No problem,~ you smile, ~I’m going to help Nui with getting everyone up and together. We can talk later, okay?~

“Sure, I’d like that,” he responds and adjust his glasses.
>>
>>43600408

You step back with a wave and head toward Nui, catching one last exchange between the two of them.

“Mother, I don’t suppose the monster insurance would cover Endo’s Amplifier,” Yoshi asks her plainly, “I blew it out just now,”

“I can write it off. Now, why don’t you tell me why you and the young Miss Chiba are back on a first name basis?” you leave him to his fate, as it is now a very important conversation between mother and son.

As curious as you are about what he has to say.

Approaching Nui, you adopt a more formal posture.

~Excuse me, President Takeda,~ you say properly, ~How can I help the student council organize things?~

“Ah, Miki,” she says as you surprise her from behind, you cough at her use of that name, “err...I mean Chiba-san, well you can help Endo-kun and Kaneda-kun help people up and move them to the sides of the hall so emergency services doesn’t have to walk over everyone,”

~Easily done,~ you smile.

She thanks you as you go to work. You actually learn the punk friend of Midori’s is named Kanagami Kaneda, he introduces himself gruffly and complains that he regrets coming to class today.

Soon enough PIT forces arrive first, they enter soft having seen the Sailor Senshi leaving and waving so it was assumed the immediate threat was neutralized. They and EMS triage people and take debriefing interviews. You learn that PIT was actually trying to breach some kind of barrier around the building for a while once they noticed its presence, they had been watching the building thanks to an anonymous tip.

You gauge the gathering and splintering crowds and think first to go talk to Gai Ginja. From the sound of things somehow managed to buy everyone time despite being otherwise depleted of energy and his own abilities. Finding him sitting under a tree in the front courtyard, not at all bothered by the sodden earth darkening his slacks, and staring up into the glistening branches of the tree.

The rain came to a stop some time during the fight, but everything is still quite wet and muggy out despite the cooler time of year.

“Ah, Chiba-san,” he looks up at you and offers a smile, “I’m glad everything worked out well,”

~Yeah,~ you sigh and lean against the tree, which only dampens your shoulder sleeve, ~I wanted to thank you for buying everyone time getting out of the classroom. Just what did you do, anyway?~

“I altered their shared perception enough to think I was significantly more interesting than those they were pursuing, while they attempted to pursue,” he explains and tenses as his glamor fails for just an instant, a reaction sweep of the surroundings shows you no one is paying too close attention to you, “They were quite upset when they realized I wasn’t their target, and I managed to slip away only slightly manhandled,”

~You look a bit more than slightly manhandled,~ you observe, to which he shrugs.

“My condition is exacerbated from my fatigue,” he meets your eyes, “This tree is helping me steady myself while I recover enough to get by,”

~Will you be able to make the walk yourself?~ you wonder.

“Not a point of worry, I’ll wait for my younger siblings to finish their classes and we can walk home together,” he smiles broadly and extends his hand up in request of a clap, “I’ll soak up their filial concern and be as good as new in no time,”
>>
>>43602904
~Alright then,~ you offer him a smile and grant his non verbal request for a high five, ~Take care of yourself, Estra, and keep your eyes open. Dangerous and mostly earthly threats are out in force,”

“I’ll take care,” he responds as you retreat back into the main building.

Sorting your way through the familiar yet presently hectic school building, you eventually come upon your next target of conversation. Your best friend, Kairi Osaka, is busily writing her desk and collecting her scattered things among the debris. And there is a lot of debris from assorted desks that many are picking up and returning to their rightful place.

~Kairi-chan,~ you chirp, feeling particularly good about yourself after a great victory where you didn’t even think about sinking your teeth into Orbrachnid’s delicious looking form and draining her of her corrupting shadow and chaos influence, ~Do you have a minute,~

Well, the important thing is you didn’t have those compromising thoughts in the heat of battle. Wanting your fangs to find purchase between the plating of her chitinous placing and the decadent irony of drinking from a creature that thematically subsists on blood consumed by fangs.

You feel a pang of regret for not acting on that feast, but shoot it down because you know where that leads. Actually, you’re doing well and in control, so you’ll think about at least grabbing a momentary snack from the next monstrous assailant you encounter.

“Of course,” she replies with a tired smile and follows you into the hall.

~Are you okay?~

“Just frustrated with getting stuck when I should have been helping get the girls free,” she says dejectedly, “That and I’m way too reminded of my own experiences after that talk with Nomura-san,”

~Oh, I hope it didn’t cause your depression to flare up,~ you ask after her in worry.
>>
>>43602916
“No, it’s just something heavy to think about,” she stretches and pops her vertebrae, “Something to think about is all,”

~Okay,~ you nod and tactfully avoid offering to give her a nip to help sort things out, ~So, how did that talk go with you two for Nomura-san?~

“It went well,” Kairi’s smile is genuine and proud, “She wants to talk about it, and she accepted Kieko’s request and reason for wanting the fan club disbanded after a little bit of effort and rather diplomatic rejection,”

~Good to hear,~ you sigh with relief before suggesting something to her with suggestive intentions, ~Say, Ginja-san is outside recovering from what happened earlier. Now might be a good time to-~

“Mikage,” she cuts you off with a stern but still friendly look, “You don’t need to tell me how to flirt,”

~I know, it’s just you’re sad and he’s a bit beat up,~ you explain, ~I just thought it would help you both feel better,~

She pauses and sighs.

“It would help me feel better...it’s just,” she searches for something to say and then gives up in a mild frustration, “I’ll finish getting my things and then go talk to him,”

~That’s great,~ your voice hits a lyrical crescendo, pleased with your attempts at helping Kairi-chan claim personal victories.

“It is great,” she muses and spins back to face you, “but there are a few things I need to say first,”

You don’t like that tone she’s taken. It’s worrisome and reminds you a bit of her mother.

“First up, I’m sorry I blackmailed you into giving me this responsibility,” she flashes you the Ring of Nephrite and looks a touch embarrassed, “I wanted to help, and I don’t regret becoming your knight, but I shouldn’t have done it the way that I did,”

~Kairi,~ you smile, taken aback by your friends assertion, ~It’s okay. Honestly I’m glad you forced the issue now. I’m happy not to go this alone,~
>>
>>43602926

“I’m happy you don’t go this alone anymore too,” she smiles softly, “I’m proud to stand beside you like this...and that makes the next bit hard for me to say,”

~Eh?~

“At the goodbye picnic,” she begins hesitantly, “You said some things when you were riding your magical feel good wave, and I know you weren’t lying, or meant to make things awkward between us, or confusing...but it did,”

Oh, right. That. Your school slippers are suddenly infinitely more interesting.

“And between that, my whole thing with Ginja-san and Kinno-san, and then your whole thing with Sasha-san and Sakurada-san it just seemed to add more directions to a lot of confusion,” she reasons and finds the wall you stand beside increasingly interesting.

~Yeah,~ you mutter.

“We don’t have to talk it all out right now,” she says quietly, “but I can’t just ignore it. Especially after the tower, all the quick pick me ups you’ve helped me with, you trying to show me your favorite borderline smut comics as Mimi, and today,”

You roll back upon pleasant memories of making a meal of her worst feelings, the tactile sensation of your teeth and lips at work.

~What about today?~ you ask curiously.

“Just...between some of the things Sugimoto-san said and Umeki-san not shutting up about-” she grouses and lets it hang.

Yeah, you muse back on how Umeki-san really wouldn’t shut up about lesbians today.

~So, did you have a time you wanted to talk about this, if not right now?~ you ask hopeful for a delay.

“No,” she sighs, “I just wanted to get that I needed to talk about that out between us. And I guess setting a nebulous later helps me focus more on the now. You’re my best friend, but we need to clear the air on that,”

~Yeah,~ you groan, she isn’t wrong.

You just aren’t entirely sure if she’s right. Or if she’s wrong.
>>
>>43602948
For some reason you find the world a far more difficult place to exist in. It settles in your mind what you want to do next for certain. Setting off through the school you try to seek out Yoshi Sakurada, hoping to find him alone.

As you head toward the still disheveled academic offices, you find him checking his guitar and returning it carefully to its case.

~Hey,~ you call out awkwardly, ~Yoshi!~

He turns to face you and offers a short wave as you walk up to him.

“Mikage,” he says, “Thank you for helping me deflect things with my mother,”

~It’s no problem,~ you enjoy the thanks at face value and let the awkwardness of talking to him replace the awkwardness that lingers from your last exchange with Kairi, ~And I just wanted to let you know that you really are great with that,~

“Well, thank you for the compliment,” he smiles, “I just hope you enjoy my rehearsed pieces in ensemble this weekend half as much,”

~Right, your show,~ you remember with some excitement that you’ll be attending, you just aren’t sure yet of which night, ~Say, would you prefer if I came as this me, or if I came decked out and more extreme and antisocial?~

There’s something comfortable about this conversation, warm even. You quite like that feeling.

He pauses, mulls something over in his mind, and rolls his shoulders.

“Honestly I would like you to come however you would feel comfortable coming,” he says in a manner that pleases you, that he’s thinking about how you’d be most comfortable, “but that did remind me of a concern I was hoping you could address,”

And then the warm feeling is swept from beneath you.
>>
>>43602958
Something in the back of your mind tells you that you will not particularly enjoy where this goes. Consciously you suspect whatever that something is to be right given the difficult look on Yoshi’s face. As if there are some questions he is going to struggle to ask. Kairi-chan just asked you questions which she was struggling with and you fear a repeat of that.

~What about?~ you ask dubiously, wondering if perhaps it would be safer to have this conversation as your more aggressive and aggrieved self.

“I had my suspicions that you were effectively in no danger today,” he says carefully conspiratorially, “However I don’t have a clear understanding of where you end and the Beast begins. I was worried what could happen to you if you couldn’t draw on those abilities, or what could happen to others could you do so,”

His concern is palpable.

“When you helped me to gather what I needed to play, I felt strong,” his voice continues in a difficult even stoicism, “When the Sailor Senshi arrived, I was apprehensive. I know you fought with them...and I don’t think that the Beast is the monster they believe her, you, to be,”

~Concerned for my safety?~ you offer a feigned coy smile.

“Concerned with getting answers and understanding this whole thing better. Answers to that and the matter with Umeki-san earlier,”

Again, you remember the matter of the mysterious shadows you still have to explain in sensible way as promised.

“I’ll understand if it's not a good time to talk about,” he explains and gestures to the school in disarray around the both of you, “and I’ll wait until you’re ready to talk about it,”

~That’s generous,~ you respond in concern, ~I might have expected the amount of unanswered bullshit I’ve left in your lap to cause a more demanding inquiry,~

“Well, I could be worried about how you’d respond to a more aggressive approach,” he reasons with a knowing and uncharacteristically playful smile.
>>
>>43602977
Taken aback that he would so casually crack a joke, or at least make the attempt at one, you smile a bit yourself. Its short lived as you realize there is an important subject to press him on and share with him that will likely only leave him with more questions.

~Yoshi,~ you begin, he notices your shift in tone immediately, ~Does your manager know who you really are?~

“Yes,” he answers with concern, “Is that a problem?”

~It might be,~ you begin, ~And, I can’t tell you just how I know yet, but he or people higher up the chain than him might be upset by your involvement in events here today,~

“Higher up at the Record Company?” he asks in confusion, though taking the matter no less seriously.

~No, not at the record company,~ you begin uneasily, ~I know what he says he is, but it’s a lie, a complex fabrication all the more concerning if he has you signed somewhere legitimately. He isn’t human, Kal, at least he hasn’t been human for a very very long time,~

“I don’t understand,” he says carefully, “Mikage, even if you can’t tell me the finer details I need you to be straight with me on this. Whatever you are afraid to say, it’s okay, I trust you,”

~He’s dead,~ you resolve yourself and explain things plainly and start to roll into a pleading explanation, ~He died thousands of years ago and is now an animated thing. A thing that’s part of the group that is turning people into monsters, turned Umeki-san and Nomura-san and others into monsters, is harvesting negative emotion, plunged the city into chaos at Tokyo Tower, and was trying to kill Keiko for really convoluted reasons. At your concert, I know you felt something strange about your audience. He is using you and your music, and I don’t want him to hurt you,~
>>
>>43602992

You need to tell him, but as much as you can. He says he trust you so maybe he’ll accept it. So you let as much spill as you can, the things you want to warn him about. The danger he may be in. It stirs at your anxiety, crashing through the barriers you’ve managed to erect into its path by your healing and recovery in this matter. Even now you feel your vision tunneling and the world growing faint and distant.

He is quiet. You try to hold on and he is quiet. There is a serious look on his face as he parses through what you’ve shared.

“Did they,” he asks carefully, “Did they do something to you?”

His question isn’t about his own safety. It’s about the things you can do that he’s seen. He isn’t accusing you of being some kind of thing, but if you’d been hurt by them or changed against your will. In more manners than you’d care to count, they have. That drives it home. And the world starts falling away.

The last thing you perceive as the panic grips you and the world around you becomes an aching void too loud and too much to process is him calling your name and reaching for you as you fall.

Also, was pondering things and had this phrase roll into my head:
"Mikage is a method actor that isn't sure how to play to role of herself."

Given a mission to see through or a role to play, she is completely into it and solid. Sometimes too much so, but being herself is far more uncertain.

Morning all. Recovered from that passing out and now awake and somehow at work.

Perplexed.

So, having a night to think on it, what are your feelings on the super freaking long final update?

What does this affect as far as your plans for the near future.
>>
>>43606961
With Kairi, I think we need to talk to her about how we feel about things. The magical high that day allowing us to cut through a few log jams of thought.
Yes, we like all genders, and, yes, she is a wonderful friend and a beautiful person, so, yes, she would be someone we could see ourself with. But we aren't really pursuing her, just the high cutting through an letting us acknowledge that we wouldn't be opposed.
As for who we are pursuing? Haven't a Damn clue, but getting to know Yoshi again and seeing where we stand is nice.
(His concern triggering bad memories and blacking out aside.)

As for Yoshi and passing out, I hope we can get ourself together again enough to see him before the show. I have a bad feeling that leaving off with passing out will lead to him stoicly getting himself into trouble.

Main change in plans being that we may have to include him in our plans regarding Kalunite and infiltration. Hopeful enough to keep him out of harm's way.
>>
A question.

During the whole gym sequence, was Yoshi shirtless or did he have an undershirt on. If so was it a tee or tank?
>>
>>43607920
I assume school uniform.
Perhaps sans jacket if he really got out of control. Tie remains.
>>
>>43607985
No, he was described with a towel over his shoulders and sans jacket and shirt while working on the amp. He was in the rain, would you tinker with electrical stuff while soaked through?

Interlude: Panic at the Disco

“Are you sure you’re okay with it?” she asks you with some nervousness and guilt, “I know I jumped the gun on things back there without talking to you about it in depth first. It had always seemed like a discussion for later,”

“Yeah, I’m okay with it,” you smile and slide over a little to sit directly next to her on the bench, emboldened by her words to you earlier and the rush of victory without a care if anyone sees, “Not the weirdest thing I’ve had to adjust to recently,”

Keiko is of course a topic on everyone’s tongue as they’re cleared to go about their business with a clean bill of health, so there is little doubt their eyes fall over to where the two of you sit. Well, time to put your money where your pride is...no.

You’ve got nothing to prove to yourself or her. This is because it’s what you want, what you need, and what fulfill in one another. Leaning your head against Keiko’s shoulder you take her hand and just sit there with her for a little bit.

“Have you thought about how you’ll tell your parents?” you ask with an uncustomary lilting of worry.

“No,” she groans beside you, “Have you thought about how you’ll tell your dad?”

“I’ve got time,” you smile, “His boat isn’t due back until until next month,”

“So. Here we are,” she smiles back and leans her head against the top of yours.

You’ve embraced in the short time since this all started. You’ve kissed. Acutely aware of the frailty of life you’ve let other passions take you in quiet and intimate times. You’ve had quiet and intimate times. All of those things, but there was also fear.

Discovery. Ridicule. Hatred.

Your name is Midori Mori, you are the Jadeite Knight in the service to a heroic cause. Keiko wanted to face the world honestly, shining as the sun anchored to her soul, you can bear any burden to see her shine.
>>
>>43617508

Its nice, sitting on this bench like this. Even if a few people are looking curiously, disapprovingly, jealously, or not even noticing the two of you at all.

It is a quiet and intimate time, but in the light instead of in the dark. Something to cherish and savor.

“Official Unofficial Student Council Business!” a voice on the shrill edge of worry breaks you from the cherished time in the sun as your shoulder on your less occupied side.

“Nui!” you bark, “What the hell!?”

“Come on, Midori, I’ll explain on the way,” the tiny upperclassman ineffectual tries to pull you in the direction of her whim, “Sorry, Sugimoto-san, I need to borrow your girlfriend. I’ll bring her right back,”

You are stone struck by your friend so casually throwing around that observation about you.

“Takeda-san?” Keiko leans forward and looks across you toward the tiny interloper to your moment, “If this is circle business, you don’t need to drag her off on my account,”

“How do you know this is circle business?” the Student Council President queries the taller girl in worry.

“You aren’t exactly subtle and I’ve been filled in on that little quirk of speech by, as you quite delightfully put it, my girlfriend,” Keiko responds with a sigh.

The stone cracks and you stand up, looking down on Nui with certain fervor.

“That’s because you’re only a probationary member until you’re ratified by Nui’s inane policies,” you explain, “Policies only she really abides by,”

“They bring order and structure to our goal,” the miniature girl protests while your Keiko looks on in confusion.

After offering an apology to Keiko, and a promise of your swift return, you follow Nui off the beaten path until she’s certain you aren’t being observed.

“So, what’s the big problem, oh zealous leader of my favorite fashion sisterhood?” you query half mocking as you lean against an outer wall of the school building.
>>
>>43617508

“Jade,” she begins using your ganguro pseudonym, “I may have erred in a way that puts the entire validity and mission of our Glorious Ganguro Revolution at risk,”

Well, you figure she isn’t so impassioned over nothing. With a steadying breath you bid her to continue using her own pseudonym while addressing her.

“Alright, Teal, go on,”

The normally shameless young woman seems positively aghast and nervous. More so than in her sudden serious concern when Mikage confided in her about the petty bullying attempts against herself.

“I may have blackmailed Student Council Vice President Daigo Endo into what I suspect to be is a date,” she admits sheepishly.

“Wait, what?”

“His double life thing that I was trying to solve,” she says uncharacteristically exasperated, “He’s in a band and he wants me to see him play this weekend because he can’t just explain it,”

“Is that all? Even if he isn’t fashionable, dating Endo-kun wouldn’t reflect poorly on the fashion circle,” you try to comfort your tiny team leader.

“It isn’t just that,” she explains, “You heard Sakurada-san’s guitar in the gym. They’re best friends and he knew to ask if Endo-kun unloaded his van, if they’re in a band together and they play stuff like that...it just doesn’t gel with Ganguro!”

“And just going to one show that might not ‘gel’ with us doesn’t end our cir-” you pause and look down at your friend’s pleading face, “Oh my god, you like Endo-kun?”

“Don’t say it so loud!” she says through a haze of embarrassment.

“What, I’m surprised is all,” you cover your words and think back to her tendencies toward short term flings, “He doesn’t really seem like your type,”

“Well, maybe I want to try something reliable instead of disposable,” she explains, “And Endo-kun is one of the most consistently reliable guys I’ve ever met and worked with,”
>>
>>43617539
“I’m not trashing him,” you react, “though I really want to and have some choice insults for the matter for later. I mean, this is all just a little unexpected,”

“Well, more unexpected than you and Sugimoto-san at least,” she sighs and slumps next to you on the wall.

You give pause to her choice of words. Nui is attentive and probably picked up on your preference in some convoluted fashion. Rolling your eyes, you continue.

“So, what do you need me to do?” you ask her as she curls in on herself and hugs her knees.

“I don’t know,” she frowns, “I just thought explaining it to a friend would help me come up with something,”

“Sorry I couldn’t help things yet, then,” you smirk, “Come on, let’s go find Miki. If Endo-kun and Sakurada-san are in a band, Miki might know something about Sakurada-san that could help you more clearly figure out your next move,”

Interlude: Flower in the Dark

The door was left open again? The fucking door was left open again!? With a sigh you open it with your foot and enter into the small dormitory apartment that you’ve spent the past six months adjusting to. It’s almost 2 in the afternoon, the sky is finally clearing up though still dreadfully overcast, and you can hear your roommate snoring away.

Putting away your groceries, setting your welding mask on the coat hook, and picking up a can of beer for yourself you stride across the center of the room toward the window.

Your roommate is a mess, she is a complete pig and leaves her clothes all over the place even though some of it is designer or nice. It creeps and spreads, and you’ve fought a valiant fight to keep your desk and bed from being encroached upon but you know it's only a matter of time. The only thing she ever keeps neet are her blonde wigs, meticulously spread across her desk.

“Minami-san,” you shove the pile of blankets and clothes that rises and falls with the sound of her interrupted breathing, you are met with the jangle of loose bangles and accessories as she begs you to get away in a mumbling voice.

You weren’t so much asking her to wake up, but just trying to get her attention. There is scolding to be done and you aren’t getting fined again during inspections this week by the Resident Attendant because she can’t keep her shit together.

Well, only one thing to do. Peeling back her blankets enough to expose her worriedly fearful face, framed in a pixie cut of green hair, you stride across the room toward the curtained window. She’s having another nightmare, you know the remedy for that.

Along the way you almost trip on an empty bottle of something Expecting it in the ambient light from the kitchen reveals it to be some kind of fruity flavored vodka. Untapped beer still in hand, you finish your journey to the curtains and unceremoniously throw them wide.
>>
>>43624603
Your roommate, Hanako Minami, groans and sits bolt upright, spilling excess clothing as she pulls the blankets to her chest and backs against the wall. She calms down as she realizes where she is.

“Ah, Ito-san,” she groans.

“You okay Minami?” you grunt and crack open your beer while sitting at your desk, “Which dream was it this time?”

Taking a drag from the can, the other girl shields her eyes and offers a sad moan.

“The dragon,” she grunts and holds her head against the light.

Rolling your eyes, you lean across the space between you and offer her your beer. You suspect her to be a bit hung over.

Gratefully, she takes the beer and tries to settle her pain.

“That’s already twice this week,” you groan and spin your chair to actually face your desk and take out your laptop, “Are you going to see anyone about it?”

She’s quiet. It hangs between you for a few minutes as she stumbles up and toward the bathroom. While your laptop boots, you take some time to brush your hair. Long white strands, a few ends burnt by your metalwork art project. There was a time where you were proud to stand out from this hair, but now it’s a bit of a hassle.

Setting the brush down, frustrated with the time you’ll spend fixing your careless mistake, you log into your lurk account and search the assorted other newsfeeds and your contacts for more any street fights you missed to repost.

Punks, delinquents, girl gangs, low ranking yakuza making a ruckus. It's your hobby, spreading the word about good fights helps you relive your own misspent youth. Even as you try to make something of yourself in college, you still have a soft spot for street violence.
>>
>>43624616

Hmmm...not much in the way of local violence, people are freaking out after this weekend’s rampage by the Red Eyed Beast and otherwise making fewer ripples. She threw down with the Sailor Senshi to finish things off and no one has seen her since.

And right now she’s most of what people are talking about.

Doing some research, you look into the band she was seen seeing. Accounts of her altercation with some Metal frontman called The Damned were making the rounds along with everything else.

His band is playing again this weekend. You update your lurk status @RepostYankee.

‘Beast-watch continues. Going to go see and maybe Unrepentant Damned this weekend about the backstage sighting,’

And then for good measure.

‘@RedEyedBeast any comment? Are you still out there?’

Closing the lid of your laptop, you resolve that all you can do is wait. Your roommate walks out of the bathroom and begins rooting around for something in the kitchen.

“Hey, Minami!” you call out to her, “Want to see a show this weekend?”
