1-50 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/DYy8w24r
51-100 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/wx3HtRT5

You are Sierra Beckhoff, and you are the Imperiate – the one true tyrant of the thousand hells. Or something like that, anyway. You’re working on it.

You’re currently on your way to meet with Borislav the druid about mastering a primordial elemental over by Lake Erie. With the Archduke of Mardusia, the Golden Serpent, and a Grand Wyrmwrither getting on your case, you need a lot of power, fast.

And now there’s this Hildegard woman person who says she knew your dad, and she’s telling you that you’ve got to either work for Sulkrasph, or throw Roger (a friend of yours) under the bus? What the hell’s that all about?

--

All this woman’s ‘advice’ doesn’t quite qualify as such. She’s just telling you basically to roll over and give up. Like hell. You check the tree line on either side of the road, still wary that Hildegard might be up to something – still nothing.

There’s a chance she really is trying to help, and you don’t think it’s wrong to dispense with cruddy advice, so long as you think you’re contributing somehow. But there’s still a lot of questions going on here.

“If you really want to help so much, why have you literally never helped me ever before?” you say, narrowing your eyes further. “I mean, there were points where you could have shown up even with all this BS, and I would have scarfed it down like chocolate cake.”

Hildegard feels a note of regret at your words. “I would have, but circumstances limit me,” she says. “I could not involve you in my difficulties.”

“Difficulties, huh?” you ask. “Anything that has to do with the people trying to kill me, then? Cause you sure know a lot about the Yellow King and Sulkrasph.”

“I do,” she says, cleverly avoiding the question.
>>
>>43641150

Well, if she knows things, you might as well see what she’ll tell you. She already told you about Cadwyn – even if it doesn’t really relate to your current situation, you definitely didn’t know about that before. “Why’s Big Yellow so hot for Roger, anyway?” you ask. “He’s not that good-looking, he’s just Canadian. Don’t tell me Hassatur’s his dad or something crazy like that.”

There’s a serious glint in her eye at the question, her expression drawn. “Roger is the King in Yellow’s nephew,” she says. “The king thinks his assistance would be useful. I do not believe he wishes to harm him.”

That feels like a lie. “Don’t tell me he just wants to chat,” you say.

Hildegard smiles slightly. “Tell Roger what I told you. Let him judge.”

“What about Sulkrasph, then?” you ask. “You know if he really just wants me to help him win over hell and become the next Imperiate?”

“Sulkrasph knows he has no uncontested claim on the Imperiacy while you breathe,” says Hildegard. “But he does not seek the Imperiacy. He seeks hegemony. You have royal blood and an inheritance of nations. He would gladly welcome an alliance, erase the enmity between you, and support you to regain your birthright.”
>>
>>43641169

You scoff. “What if I take him up on it and he just shoots me in the back of the head when I’m not looking?”

Hildegard sighs. “You underestimate others’ estimation of your power. He considers arranging your death entirely more difficult and wasteful than extending a hand of cooperation.”

“Yeah, so he can control everything himself,” you say.

“And yet you would still be the crown Imperiate,” she replies, shrugging. “The title is not honorary. It carries meaning.”

You narrow your eyes at your dad’s ‘friend’, finding it difficult to focus specifically on her. “You know, the only thing I’m thinking poorly of you for is that you’ve got the worst timing. The worst. And like, out of everybody I’ve run into this summer, you’re the only person who knew David who also knows that he’s dead. Just saying, kind of interesting,” you say.

And suspicious. Your dad kept to himself, or so you hear.

Hildegard hesitates for a moment. “I am kept well informed,” she replies, snapping out of position a couple feet to the left.

“Yeah?” you ask. “By who?”

Hildegard gives you an empty look. “My visit with you is under certain restrictions.”

You make a show of glancing around at the uninhabited wood around you. “I can keep a secret,” you say.

She lets out a short bark of laughter. “I have no doubt,” she replies.

You’re not getting anything out of her about that, you guess. “What about Cadwyn? Is that a certain restriction or what?”

She shakes her head. “I am the one who told you of him.”

“It was a rhetorical question,” you say. “And don’t say it was a rhetorical answer, that’s BS.”

Hildegard gives you a sideways look. “...okay?”

“What’s Cadwyn’s stake in all this?” you say. “I’ve never even heard of the guy. Why’s he coming after me? Like. Why does he or it care?”

“I do not know,” she provides, unhelpfully, “but I do suspect that he cares greatly.”

“Okay,” you allow, “say I’m actually thinking about my options. I’ve got a bunch of ultra powerful, malevolent things gunning for me. What would you do in my shoes?”
>>
>>43642258

“If I were in your shoes, your loyalty would keep me from ostensibly laying my issues on Roger,” she says. “I would swallow my pride and send a message to Sulkrasph. He is the only way out of your predicament.”

Well that’s just great. “Hey lady, if you legitimately want to help so bad, why don’t you, you know, actually help? Right now, all you’re doing is like, tossing around bad advice and creepy vibes from the sidelines,” you say, fed up with Hildegard’s determination with this whole give-up thing.

She gives you an iron glare, then shakes her head and puts her backpack back up on her shoulders. “I am doing everything within my power,” she says. “If that is insufficient for you, then so be it. I did what I might.” With that, Hildegard turns and starts walking back off into the woods.

And if she sees herself as a genuine ally of us or our father, she might be useful to keep around.

I think it would be cool if each of the twins could use both demonym. After all, the way Ranthix explained it we're both the Imperiate.

The Imperiate isn't the source of the names' power, though. All demons have 'powered' names.

>>
You don’t try to stop her. But she feels legitimately miffed about you being ungrateful, which kind of hints that maybe she was actually being genuine?

Maybe you should try to salvage this.

“I guess I uh... appreciate the thought?” you call out after her.

But she’s set on leaving.

Wait. She didn’t even tell you anything about your dad. You feel vaguely cheated somehow. Maybe you’ll see her again though? Or... maybe not. There was something weird about how you met up here, all secretive.

You summon Monster with instructions to be a sneaky rat and follow Hildegard for you. Maybe you can learn something if you keep tabs on her. With Monster thus deployed, you rev up your bike again and head uphill to rendezvous with Borislav.

You pass misty redwoods and gain altitude until you get to his meditation spot. You smell a faint touch of gasoline in the air, and spot Borislav’s beat up pickup a moment later parked off the gravel road.

And then you get a thought from Monster. “Hey lady. The other lady’s gone,” he reports. You get an image of Hildegard walking serenely through the forest, and suddenly vanishing without a trace. Monster gives you a mental shrug. “Yeah I wasn’t surprised either.”

“Well done, Spawnling,” you think back.

“I’m just going to screw around for a bit if you don’t mind,” Monster replies.

You snort. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

Monster gives an affirmative, and goes about his impish business.
>>
>>43643041
Monsterquest when?
>>
>>43643041

You ride on a bit further up the road before dismounting the bike. You approach Borislav’s secret spot, toeing the edge of a cliff overlooking the distant sea. A trio of rough boulders jut out from the ground in a stony clearing. Borislave sits Indian style on the central stone, with his staff balanced over his knees.

He also has no shirt on – not a totally unfamiliar sight, given how much time you’ve spent doing physical training out in the forest, and how often Borislav chooses to do his forest ranger work sans shirts, lumberjack style.

A number of birds chirp in the branches of a scraggly tree above him, and a doe relaxes next to him, lying in a patch of ferns. It’s like a weird cutout scene from a Disney movie.
>>
>>43643072

You do your best to be all landmastery and blend in, but all the animals skedaddle at your presence. Borislav grins at your presence, though doesn’t turn to look at you – he keeps his eyes on the vast expanse of forest before him. “Privyet dyevushka,” he says, his voice ringing clearly through the morning air. “Vuispalsia?” Or, did you get a good night’s rest? Meaning after getting home from your ultimate road trip.

While you usually like how Russian can condense an entire line of thought into a single word, you don’t like how that single word can pick at the fact that you did a lot of things last night. Sleeping didn’t really factor too much into that schedule.

>Yeah, more or... less.

“You best be joking, man,” you say, unamused. “I had to go all freaky demon on Lucifer last night, and I mean that in the most violent way possible.”

Borya sobers up a bit at that. “I am sorry,” he says. “Bad joke.”

You snort. You can’t be mad at Borislav, he’s Borislav. You go over and sit up on the rock kind of next to his. “So how’s the forest doing? Growing and all that?”

He smiles in reply. “Is typical state of forest.” He glances over at you then, and stops for a second. He focuses in on your coat. “What is with the coat?” he asks, a feeling of shock buzzing within him.

You remember what you’re wearing. Maybe dressing up like Hitler youth wasn’t the best idea before going to see Borislav, a Russian whose grandfather actually fought in World War II.

But it’s not like you’re wearing this thing for political purposes. You just... it belonged to David. Like he actually went around wearing this and stuff. Borislav should understand that. “It was my dad’s,” you try to explain.

Borya stands, a serious frown on his face as he sets his staff down on the rock. He gestures vaguely at you. “Take off it. You must not wear such thing.”

In hindsight, you probably shouldn’t have taken it out. Wordlessly, you comply, and drape it over an arm. “Sorry.”

Borislav is unrelenting for a moment. But then he softens, snaps up his staff in hand, and waves for you. “Come.”

You walk along with Borya through the forest, feeling dumb. “You know, funny story, there actually was this Nazi lady creeping around just a minute ago,” you say. You relay to the druid what happened with you and Hildegard.

Borislav scowls, and says something in Russian that you don’t understand – however, with the amount of emphasis he puts on the words, you’re sure it’s something crude as hell.

“We’re not friends though,” you reassure him. “If she tries to get feisty, I’m fine killing her. Like. 100% legit fine.”

“Is not big surprise to me this woman would join with antagonists anew,” he replies. “Do not trust her lies. It is not possible to say what she has traded for long life.”

“Same page there,” you agree.

You both walk on for a bit longer.

Borislav breaks the silence. “And so,” he says, rapping his staff on a redwood as you pass, “you desire to tame great nature ghost spirit?”

Business time. “Yeahp. You think I can hack it?”
>>
>>43644237

Borya laughs. “Do not be so funny to me. You are Sierra! You hack everything!”

Confidence boosted. “Cool. Uh. Thanks. You ever do something like this before?”

“Never in life,” says Borisalv. “But, cannot be so difficult. You are landmaster, you are devil girl, you have righteous heart, is enough. I understand land magic well. I will come with you, we will claim anchor point, and then we will win Mr. Sulkrasph and Zholti Tsar both.”

“If it is necessary, I do not see reason for delay,” says Borya.

You remember then Moriah and Roger’s words about figuring out spirit business before conducting a spirit transaction. “Moriah told me we have to figure out how this thing operates first, though,” you say.

Instead of answering immediately, Borislav reaches up and snatches a shirt from where it was hanging on a low hanging tree branch. He pulls it on over himself as you walk. “Moriah is not master of nature,” he says. “This is land magic, sorcery it is not.”

“Well, I know there was another landmaster that tried to claim the well, and she had mysterious problems with it,” you say. “What’s the worst case scenario if we try this and it doesn’t pan out?”

“With magic,” he says, “you must accept risk. Is not magic without risks.”

That’s a compelling argument. Half the stuff you do is risky business at the best of times, given your recurring issues. “You really think if I get this elemental on my side, I can wrap this all up lickety split?”

He chuckles. “Why not? This is same way you helped kill Meckor and his devils. Pure magic is power to victory.”

You like the sound of that. It makes things seem more straightforward than they feel.

>How about tonight then, for sure? Let’s do it tonight. We’ll meet up at the heart of Muir.
>Man, I don’t know. Moriah and everybody else were pretty clear about this kind of stuff being perilous as all get out.

Borya being uncharacteristically contrary.

I don't know, I think it's more like a final third sort of thing. We've had our power-up timeskip, Sulkrasph seems like either our mother's killer, or knows who is. Hassatur and Ossifera can probably fill in the blanks about our father.

As much as I'd enjoy it, I don't get the feeling Languid's going for an endless serial here, I think those and our twin are the big mysteries.

I don't know why, something just sounds off about him.

It still feels like we're just scratching the surface to me. Languid's the one in control of the story, and I don't want to sound like I'm demanding he keep running this for years, but I can definitely see a few major arcs in the future:

>Solidifying our hold on our fief (current)
>Entering Halth & gathering allies
>Pressing our claim and gaining the Imperiate
>Crushing opposition to our rule, with final battle against mother's murderer and/or (poss. brainwashed) Nydalis

Yeah, i gotta agree. Taking over an entire dimension could take a very long time.
>>
>>43645360

And that's not even touching the potential for Elysium (or whatever the name for heaven is) fuckery. Like fighting off an angelic invasion, or being called there for a chat as the new Imperiate, or going there ourselves to 'negotiate' an end to the demonborn discrimination on Earth, or...

“How about tonight then, for sure? Let’s do it tonight,” you say. “We’ll meet up at the heart of Muir.”

“Tonight it will work,” Borislav agrees. “Come with energy. I will discuss with Isaac this course.”

You don’t think he’ll like you rushing through with this, that’s for sure. “He can get kind of protective,” you say.

“There is little time for protective,” he says, shaking his head. “I feel moving against us already the enemy. I would have us prepare to face him.”

Usually Borislav's not this gung-ho, but then again, you're usually not being actively antagonized by aquatic fish kings and multiple demon lords.

>Anything specific I should do besides lay off the magic for the day?
>No, I’ll talk to Isaac. This isn’t your plan, it’s mine.
>What are you up to in the mean time? Anything I can help out around here as resident landmaster?
>Hate to chat and run, but there’s a lot of stuff I’m trying to figure out right now. Double now, with all this BS political pressure going on.

“Wait. So is there anything I should do besides lay off the magic for the day?” you ask.

“Nyet. You operate good with instinct,” says Borislav. “Simply do not stress – see that you are in utmost calm. Level heads will be important to us when we confront the nature ghost.”

Don’t stress. “I can do that, probably,” you say. “What are you up to in the mean time? Anything I can help out with, as resident landmaster?”

“Will this help you achieve peace inside?”

“Maybe?”

“Go do something that is not maybe,” Borya directs.

Doing some manual work seems like as good as anything to get you in peace mode. Or maybe you should just do something fun? You didn’t get a good shot at going through the remnants of your dad’s arsenal. Maybe you could do that.

Or maybe you should kind of maybe talk to Wolf about some stuff. Like stuff that happened. Because it’s not that it wasn’t... you know. But you both said some things, things you don’t just throw out there. (+2 Stress: 32/103)

Maybe it’s better if you kind of ignore that for the time being.

>Help Borislav out with ranger/druid duties. You need to keep busy to keep your mind preoccupied with stuff that’s not people trying to kill you.
>Just take the whole day off and chill out hardcore with the family. You bet Harvey’s having a ball trying to figure out his wings. Plus you still haven’t really shown off to the Hallows.
>Go hang with Moriah. You should probably run this change in plan by her. You don’t want her fumbling around the library when you’ve already got in touch with your elemental side.
>You can’t just brush the Wolf thing off forever. It’s not like you can just make it stop eating at your insides. You need to talk to him.
>You’ve got no less than six possibly magical weapons to experiment with, three of which might be ridiculously difficult to procure ammunition for. Sounds like you’ve got the day cut out for yourself.

Invite Wolf to a Kethgi session. Counter impending stress with anti stress. Also flaunt some sexy assets doing kethgi. Both human and demonic.

We can totally do both at the same time. We can have a nice family day at the range, Issac gets to get all nostalgic with some WWII vintage guns, and this way he's there to stop us on the off chance that one of those magic guns uses chunks of your soul as ammo of something.
>>
Also, on top of everything we should at least give Moriah a call to give her an update on the situation.

Talk with Wolf then hit up the family to destress. If we do Wolf second we'll just jack our stress back up. We should also shoot Moriah a text, let her know we are going and seeing what she's managed to get so far

Or maybe it’s better if you don’t ignore it. You’re not good with this kind of crap, it’s confusing.

“Yeah there’s... stuff I have to take care of,” you say to yourself. “I’ll be ready tonight though. Be ready.”

Borya nods. “Same to you, dyevushka.”

You leave Borislav to his business and head out of the forest, and back to San Francisco. When you think about stuff that doesn’t freak you out, it involves the Hallows. So you’ll see if you can’t somehow manipulate everybody into a regular family night. But before that, you’ll meet up with Wolfgang.

When you’re further up in the city, you pull over onto the curb by a park, and get out your cellphone. “I need 2 tlk to u wolf whre r u at??” you text.

“I can be wherever,” he texts back.

Heh. Because magic space magic. You still can’t get over that.
