Hey guys, let me know when you get here!

***
A nice winter morning in Muchigan, a GATE opens and in come a tribe of nomadic elves that came to this world following the tides of magic that are leaving their previous world and flowing back into ours, same as it does every 10000 years or so

They came out in a small town's park, and the police ended up helping them vs the national guard. Now we are following the daily lives of Cedric, a young cop that... used to be pretty boring before Elliezabella, a nomad elf girl, came into his life.

Now they are living a married life with a puppy in Cedric's small but nice house, and they both work for the police department of NewHope, Michigan.

This is not a drama-driven quest. It is a very sweet SoL quest where we relax and enjoy sickeningly sweet and depraved stuff, like holding hands with the elf girl, or nibbling on her ears.

If you disapprove of such debauchery, flee now! Oh, also, im from Chile, so

1) My english is shit
2) May get killed by an earthquake or tsunami at any time, just saying

Anyway let me see... we spoke with the reporter, and then went home, checked the requirements for a hunting license because the elders of the elven community wanted to go hunting and we said we would take them hunting on the weekend.... right, I remember now.

Oh, also, the thread is generally written in a he said/she said format, which means we see things from the POV of Cedric and Ellie, in turns. Also im a huge faggot, apparently, so expect to see lots of insufferably sweet shit going on

Well, as the weekend rolls about, we go to the elven neighborhood... wait, if chinese areas are called chinatown, is this elven town? except it has a lot less stereotypical ornaments and these guys seem to enjoy their new land's culture rather than needlessly cling to a land they willingly left to begin with.

"How many people are we taking along? it isn't too late to hure a bus, you know?" -Cedric looks at Ellie, still phone in hand
"Just the elders."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. They say that, once they know how to get to the hunting grounds, they can go there with the others later."
"Hunting grounds... you explained to them that is it a private preservation, right?"
"Yes. Don't worry"
"Alright" -he leans in to kiss her.

Well, of course they can't take 4 more people in just the pickup, so they got a van with multiple rows of seats and espace for luggage.

"Oh, you are planning to use your bow?"
"Yes of course. You said it was just small game, right? I don't want to bite a bullet during dinner, later."

Oh, she really has this fantasy feeling when she has her bow across her back... I wonder if she'd laugh if we showed her the LotR movies?

Yeah, im bitter because when i was 8 my family forced me to learn chinese which i then proceeded to never ever use and forgot over the next 28 years or so

Yeah im not bitter at all about being forced to learn chinese as a 8yrs old so my family could say to other chinese community members i never talked to even 20 years later "yeah we are involved in our cultural legacy, see? our son is learning chinese" *grumble grumble*
Anyway im gonna call their neighborhood elftown as of now because its shorter and way easier to type, ok?

"Is it okay to wear jeans and a jacket?"
"Why would it not be okay?"
"I don't know, don't you have a culture around developed for hunting?"
"You wear whatever is comfortable and practical while trying to catch a meal, Cedric"
"Ah... yeah, I guess so. I don't know why I said that..."

Ellie raises to tiptoes so she can kiss him, and then goes to pick up Stella in her arms before they leave the house.

"Aren't you worried she may get lost out there?"
"I got a dog whistle. She knows its me, so she won't get lost, right, baby?"

The puppy barks a few times.

"Alright..."

And, the elders were also wearing comfortable clothing. They had either boots or sneakers... somehow, we were expecting something more movie-like, maybe?

Oh, they all have their bows as well.

"Hello dad" -Ellie smooches her father after coming out of the van, and opens the door for him and the other elders.

Meanwhile, Cedric places their stuff on the back.

"Do you guys have tents? this feels like too little baggage"
"Ah, yes, we do have a large tent. It is big enough for about a dozen people, so we should all be comfortable with just us eight"
"Alright."

Uhmm... should we share in their tent or raise our own? we have one of those igloo super modern tents that flips open and ready with a flick of the wrist, thermic and bug proof....

"Ah, it will be fun to share with everyone." -we answer, wondering about what their tent is like. Maybe something like a mongol tent from the movies?

The preservation is a little under 2 hours away thanks to the excellent roads between here and there... well, it is there and here now.

Along the way, the elders seemed quite interested upon seeing the edges of town and then the countryside.

"Oh, so the city is quite big, isn't it?" -Ellie's dad seems quite impressed
"No, no, dad. NewHope it's a very small town, actually." -Ellie tries to tell him about the really big cities we went to for our honeymoon

Well, it really is a small place, but she doesn't needs to say it like that. She could say its a large town or a small city... well, she's not wrong.

After a bit, we start seeing the fence of the preservation, and finally arrive at the door.

"Wait, you mean it is 25 for each person? isn't it just cheaper to buy from a super market, then?" -we talk with the man at the entrance, but he's not the one setting the prices so there's not much we can do about it.

"It also covers fhe camping lot, parking lot, water and power services." -he says
"Water and power? in the woods?" -Ellie seems a bit confused
"Modern camping sites have lots where you can place your tent..."

>So, you don't harm the forest
>So they can charge more

"Is that so?" -the elders seem alright with this
"Yes, I imagine there are small fences between the lots?" -Cedric asks to the guard
"That is correct. There are small fences, and they have electrical outlets"
"Oh! we could have brought along a radio, then" -one of the elders comments
"I wonder if they have internet" -says another

Somehow, seeing an elven elder worry about his internet access is a little... these people, they have completely adapted to their new and modern world, haven't they?

"There is" -says the guard
"Oh, what a convenient hunting ground. I guess it is 25 dollars well spent, then." -says another elder

Wait, aren't you mystical elven hunters? is this alright? is this really alright?

After paying the fee, we park the van and go into the preservation, following the gravel road to the camping area... which is completely empty right now.

Well, it is winter, and just a regular weekend on top of that, so people was unlikely to show up to begin with.

The lots have soft grass and low white picket fences with electrical outlets on them... there's also some bathrooms at the end of the camping area.

"Lets camp half way down the line of lots. I don't want to walk too far to the bathrooms, but I certainly do not want to be right next to them, either" -says one of the elders
"Oh! you are right, yes, let's camp half way there, then!" -the others agree

-Ellie's PoV-

Cedric is getting along great with the elders. It makes her really happy, since they are all sort of her dads.

The preservation is quite large, and it looks like there should be plenty of animals once they got some distance away from the camping area.

As for the tent, well... she would have liked to camp alone with Cedric, but it would be fun to spend a night with everyone again.

The tent itself is quickly erected, with plenty of sturdy leather layers on the floor, and furs on top of it. The tent itself is quite sturdy, and able to stand up to a blizzard, so the very pleasant winter of this countryside won't be a problem at all.

The tent's entrance is actually a double layer entrance similar to a pocket. At no point do you actually expose the tent to the outside. You enter between two folds, and after a few feet enter the actual tent, so flying bugs and cold air are kept outside with ease.

Of course, there are no windows for just that reason.

In the past, her dad would use a light spell to lit up the insides of the tent, but now they have portable LED lights which didn't require mana to stay lit.

They already paid the entrance fee, so may as well use the electrical outlets nearby, right?

"Are we going to wait until tomorrow?" -asks Cedric

"Besides, we have noddles and vegetables. It should be enough for one night" -says Ellie
"Alright"

Since this is a modern camping site, there are BBQ grills available, and the elders are quite happy to use it to cook.

You know, you are meant to use coal, but... well, they have no problem finding wood in the forests, even with the light snow that has fallen in the last few days.

"The tent is really quite big" -Cedric walks around inside it, having taken off his shoes
"It is meant for a whole family."
"Isn't it too big for just one family?"
"Uhmm... I think you have the wrong idea" -says Ellie- "When you live in tents, you want them to be as comfortable as possible. If it is just for a weekend, I guess a small one would be fine, but otherwise..."
"I see, you are right, of course."

Right, this is a nomad's tent. It is somewhere you live in, it is not just some weekend thing.

Well, the elders prepare the food in no time flat, and ... yes it completely shows that they are used to such a lifestyle. They move with completely natural ease and each of them goes about doing something without even talking to eachother at all.

In such a way, there is nothing for Cedric to do, and dinner is ready before he gets to say anything.

Honestly, its not bad. We had brought along some vegetables, but it looks like they foraged the area and added stuff like roots and such... actually its very tasty.

I wonder if the plants are similar in the other world?

"Ah, we usually go to sleep fairly late, don't we? we should go to bed early because tomorrow we'll start hunting in the morning." -says Ellie
"Uhm? isn't there plenty of time still?" -says Ellie's dad
"Humans like Cedric sleep a lot, you know? three or four times as much as we do."
"Oh? is that so? I guess they are quite tall. Must use a lot of energy."

The elders seem to agree about this...
...let's not say anything

"Ah, you had hares in the other world, too?"
"Yes, but they were only slightly different."
"How so?"
"They were more like cats, I guess?" .says one of the elders- "excellent night vision. But in this world, predators go out at nightfall and sunrise, right?"
"I think so? Ask me about sea-related things and I could answer, but I grew by the shore, not the woods..."
"Oh! then we will rely on you at that time!"
"Please do"

Well, the elders set up some traps before going to talk inside the tent. It looks like they will stay up for quite a while.

>>>Lay down and try to sleep

After a short while, Ellie lays down with Cedric, and hugs him from behind. Well, more like, cuddles up to him and wraps one arm over his side.

"Thank you for getting along so well with my dad and the elders" -she says as she gets comfortable next to him
"Its nothing, they are very good people"
"You are the very good people" -she says and rubs her face softly on his back

It doesn't seem as if the elders care at all, they haven't paused their conversation at all. Well, they may be used to several conversations going on at the same time inside the tents.

With Ellie's warm softness against his back, Cedric has a bit of trouble falling asleep, but sleep still comes before he notices.

The following morning, Ellie kisses him awake and they go out to find the elders already have a light breakfast ready.

Indeed, dawn is still an hour away, and the sky is still full of stars.

The chatty elders are very quiet, but they still greet us briefly.

Since we don't really have any practice with a bow, we don't ask for one. Ellie says it is alright, she will hunt for us both today.

She seems to be enjoying to supply for us. Well, it's fine, right? we are not going to be threatened by something like that.

As we go out of the camping area with them, we notice... we are the only ones making any noise. Somehow, they don't break any twigs, and seem to move from root to root under the trees, so that they don't even crunch the snow.

Yeah, we can't do that. The elders signal something to Ellie, so she nods, and covers her mouth with a hand before she takes our hand and leads us away and around.

"Uhmm... we're going to scare things their way" -she says softly
"I´m that noisy?"
"You are somewhat noisy, and they're not, so, we'll scare things their way."
"Won't rabbits just hide in their holes?"
"That makes noise too"
"Really?"

She wiggles her ears as an answer

Well, we always expected her to have better hearing than us... so, they will listen even to the noise of hares going inside their holes, I see.

Actually, as for what happens next... they're really good, aren't they? they killed their targets with a single shot, and they didn't even got to scream. Do hares cry out when hurt, anyway?

I'd rather not find out.

It looks as if they died instantly, anyway. Well, they each got two hares, but Ellie's dad has four.

"These two are your share, since you helped by scaring them our way" -he explains

I feel like he's trying to comfort me... well, it can't be helped, I have never hunted with a bow and arrow in my life, but, honestly... it feels a lot more fair than using a gun.

I'd still prefer a gun if I had to fight a bear, of course.

Well, we get to see Ellie peel, gut and cleanse "our" hares... it's not that troubling since we have cleaned a lot of fish on our day, so we are ceertainly no strangers to blood and guts but... seeing a mammal, a fluffy animal getting gutted, rather than a scaly and cold fish...

Anyway, she just... she undoes the hare. I mean, she peels it like its nothing, cleans it, slices it... it takes her two minutes at most, and then its no longer a rabbits. Its just steaks, and they look so tasty.

As for cooking... Ellie's cooking its so nice! wild hare tastes great!

We didn't get to actually shoot at the hares, but Ellie and us did collect plenty of roots and some bark, and seeing how it all comes together into a delicious dish its really rewarding.

"This is really good, love"
"Is it?"
"Yes." -Cedric leans over and smooches her

Ah, why are you blushing like that now? you look cute! so cute! the blush went all the way to your ears you know?

"Do we have a cap to how many we can hunt?" -asks Ellie
"I dont think so, because they don't expect you to manage to catch that much, but I think we should keep it to what we can eat" -says her dad

He actually has a pretty good grip on this place's business model, uh?

"If I remember right, I think there's a boar plague in Texas. They pay you for each boar you take down." -we comment casually

The elder's eyes lit up as they look at us

"What is it?"

I had no idea. Well, I dont really know the USA map by memory, What little I remember is the fault of the fallout games, Is Ohio next to Texas? did they spread unto it?

A texan friend told me about the hogs all over texas, and how even his dad got attacked by one at the door of his ranch.

>>43659578

Well, Stella seems to be loving the left overs... and we just left her eat the leftovers from our cooked dinner, by the way. No parasite risk.

"So, there is a need for professional hunters in this world, too!" -all the elders look as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders
"I think so. I don't really remember much about it... actually I only heard about it second hand, but if you look it up on the internet..."

Some of the elders pulled out their smartphones

They really are used to this world now, uh?

"That is a nicely sized boar" -says one of them as they look at the video
"Cedric, good job!" -says Ellie's dad, quite serious

After that, they kept talking about learning all they could about it, and someone found a similar situation in Ohio. With this, they seem to be truly pumped up about it.

Well, thats further away than a weekend's hunt.

As the morning progresses, they easily disarm the tent and just as quickly as they installed things, everything is neatly packed and back in the van.

"Now we can teach the young ones to hunt here, and keep our skills sharp with a trip to Ohio from time to time" -they seem really excited about it
"Some will want to move down there permanently, I think?"
"No, I mean, we have homes now, so..."
"Right"

They are a lot more chatty now.

Once we get back home, they thank us with smoked rabbit meat, and herbs, and jam they prepared at their homes before hand... it feels as if we went to the farmer's market. It is a lot of food.

Well, for nomads, this is probably their way to show true gratitude. I mean, these are life saving supplies during winter, right?

Once we get home, Ellie lets Stella down on the living room, and she just struts over to her basket and falls asleep right away.

She was running everywhere and sniffing everything and then she had her fill of rabbit so... I guess the puppy is exhausted.

Cedric goes to the kitchen (it is in the same "room" after all) to store away all the food the elders gave them, and as he does so, he feels Ellie hug him from behind.

"What is it?"
"Thank you for getting along with the elders" -she says softly as she enjoys leaning on his back
"Uhm? they're pretty nice. I don't think its that amazing"
"I think you are amazing" -she says

Well, we finally made love in the kitchen table.

They've spread across most of the 48 states, I can't say if they're a problem in Hawaii or Alaska, however. Pennsylvania (east and a bit north of Ohio) has a number of them that they'd like to see disappear.

They're originally from the Texas area, which is southern US, but they were transported across state lines for private hunting and they spread rather quickly, especially since there's not much in the way of predators for them.

Pennsylvania's a big hunting state, at least in the country area, outside of your big cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburg. Folks up here take the day off school for the first day of deer season, after all.
