Quest Start

Asphalt, concrete, packed dirt and grass keep the rhythm beneath you as you keep your morning run, actually managing an extra lap this morning of your usual route. Its exhausting, but to your mind everything has been exhausting lately. That just means you need to step up your effort. Musing as you head home, you reflect on yesterday.

After dealing with the infestation of possessing spiders and their source monster yesterday you went straight home with your sister after exchanging a few words with your friends, a few awkward words with Kanari Kino, thanking Yoshi for bringing you to the nurse, and promising Nui Takeda you’d get back to her this morning about whatever it is she wanted to talk about. Your father, cleared to leave the Metro building early, met the both of you at home and opted bring home takeout for dinner.

Before that you dealt with your homework.

Dinner itself was interesting. For some reason you felt like your little sister was scrutinizing your every word about the events of the day as you recounted them, in a very specific manner for her presence and benefit, to dad. At least, it seemed like she was until she was easily distracted by father’s praise and the delivery ramen in front of her.

Your name is Mikage Chiba, second year Highschool student fifteen years old, and formerly the third woman to carry the name of Sailor Moon. After your mother and older sister before you, you were the Magical Champion of Love and Justice in a sailor suit. Now your little sister carries that mantle, as you had stepped back from being a magical girl after a personal tragedy in the field.

After dinner, the happy experience that it was, you focused on meditation to work toward fixing the fractured golden crystal and your own fractured psyche.

>dice+1d20 best of 3

Confident in the progress made, you went to sleep to dream. It was unfortunately and oddly restless, and you cannot recall whatever dreams took to you in the night as you found yourself untangling the kitten Diana from your hair when you woke up. Is that why you ran so hard this morning? You wonder that as you slowly walk back up to the house with intent upon going through your cool down stretches and do some upper body exercises.

What greets you beyond the door, however, is a strange coalescence of palatable scents and a curious sight. Your father stands frozen in the archway between the living room and the kitchen, his back to you and the front door as he leans in and around the corner and seems to twitch at the sight. Its at this point you leave your sneakers behind by the door and cross the room to stand next to your father and join him in his inspection of the kitchen.

As you close the distance, a cheerful and playful humming reaches your ears. Stepping quietly alongside your father, you silence a gasp. Koyomi is clad in one of mom’s aprons and is leaning over some already plated ‘meals’ on the table. You can’t quite see what she made, but the excess of trash yet cleaned up and assorted pots, pans, and tools left in a mess across the counter and near the stovetop makes you assume with full confidence that it is something horrible.

Before you can make a worried groan, your father raises a gentle hand and gestures for quiet. Following the command, you watch as your sister turns back toward the fridge as she caps and puts away a red squeeze bottle.
>>
>>43755592

Both your own and your father’s eyes blaze wide when the plates are clear to you. Evenly golden looking folded domes of Omurice with a side of greens and cherry tomatoes. From here you can even see what she drew on top of all three of the omelette shells with mom’s fancy ketchup.

Elegant drawings of your father as Tuxedo Mask top all of them. The use of perspective really pops along the red edges the simple line drawing in which he is holding up a rose to whomever is looking down directly at the meal.

These meals, to the surprise of both of you, look exquisite. Your father’s posture and expression of resigned horror shifts to one of profound hope.

Koyomi goes to pick up the plates and move them around the table. You’ve only a snap second to make your decision.

You are standing besides and slightly behind your father. As much as you love and adore the man, there is your own self preservation to consider. The food before you may look good, but your baby sister is notorious for her inability in the kitchen. You will not be dragged down by this.

Snap judgement, your health and wellbeing are paramount. Your father survived your mother learning to cook, or at least you’ve been told, he can survive this.

“Daddy!” Koyomi cheers as she sees her father stumble forward into the kitchen as you take a step back along the archway into the kitchen, “Good morning, I made breakfast!”

“Ah, I see that,” your father rubs the back of his head and regains his balance.

Watching from the edge of the archway, you catch sight of your father shooting you a disapproving look, before he sighs and continues to engage with your little sister as she chatters on about how she got up early today and wanted to make breakfast for him and yourself.

Spying from where you are, you scrutinize the delicious looking Omurice. That’s all it is, delicious looking. You don’t know what she fried the rice within with or if she even did it right. Whatever she has done, she has plied her artistic skills to presentation. Doubly so considering the ketchup drawings on top. The salad greens alongside will probably be good and edible.

She only plated those.

Still, you quietly watch as she drags your father by the wrist and seats him at the table and brings him the plate with a fork and spoon in full cheerful happiness.

While you can’t see his face, you can see the tension in your father’s shoulders as Koyomi brings her own meal to the table and sits alongside him. Koyomi watches him, waiting for him to take the a bite out of his meal.

“It looks so nice, Koyomi-chan,” your father attempts to placate, probably while trying to figure out a way to get back at your for throwing him to the dough eyed puppy wolf eyes in bunny’s clothing beside him, “It would be a shame to break it all apart,”

“But daddy, if you don’t eat it then it will get cold~” Koyomi’s voice takes on a lyrical tone as she continues to wait.

Defeated, your father takes up the spoon and scoops into the meal.

Unable to see through him, you have no idea what waits there as his shoulders first go rigid and then relax.

“Wow, kid,” your father reaches over and pats your younger sister on the head, “You’ve gotten leaps and bounds better than last time,”

Your younger sister demures at this, blushing under the praise, before taking up her spoon and having a large bite of her craft herself. She doesn’t gag or choke, but continues to smile.

>You’ve seen enough, go finish your morning exercises.

Maintaining your cover, you continue to watch the scene unfold. Your reasonable sense of personal caution seldom leads you wrong, and quite honestly you don’t trust this.

Your father must be feigning enjoying the meal as he continues to eat it while your sister happily does so as well, red brown flecks of rice sticking to her cheeks as she tucks in with the expected gusto. It must be fraudulent, this scene before you.

That your father isn’t reacting at all must mean he’s playing at being fine so that you’ll think everything is okay and attempt to eat your plate too. After you threw him to this fate he must want to make sure it is one that you share in. Koyomi has an indomitable appetite and constitution, you’ve seen her eat her own cooking happily before when no one else could.

The safest bet is to continue observing. This meal can’t shake your sister, but eventually your father will succumb to the pain and sorrow from within.

Any minute now.

The click of spoon and fork to plate means nothing. Absentmindedly you twirl the bangs of your pink hair and continue to watch dubiously and distrusting.

Koyomi, your baby sister, may be Sailor Moon but that is no guarantee that she could miraculously pull off a miracle in the kitchen when all she has ever managed before was fire and poisonous combinations. Perhaps that doesn’t make you afraid, perhaps the possibility that she actually made a delicious meal strikes terror in you.

No. You refuse to believe that!
>>
>>43757592

“Wow,” your father says with earnest before a cleaned plate, “That was delicious,”

“I’m glad you liked it, daddy, I even made lunches for you and Mikage-nee,” she perks up from her own finished meal, “I just had so much energy this morning that I didn’t know what to do with myself,”

He regards this lunchtime revelation with an initial nervousness, but shrugs it off. A sly edge hits the corner of his smile as he turns in his chair and calls out to you.

“Oh, good morning Mikage-chan,” he says with a certain teasing and vengeance seeking belittling lilt to his voice, “You’re just in time, Koyomi-chan made breakfast,”

-Uh oh,- the feminine and amusedly mocking voice of Zoisite echoes in your mind as one of the two phantoms you yet harbor floats into view beside you, -Looks like this royal intrigue and betrayal is met with an equal response,-

You point an accusatory finger at your father, revealing yourself fully that there can be no doubt that you are in fact here.

~I WON’T FALL FOR THIS TRAP!~ you declare to your beloved father, ~I know your game. I know what this is, as soon as I take a bite you’ll stop holding on and double over in pain,~

“Such harsh words against a meal made with love by your little sister,” he sighs and balances his fingers against his forehead dramatically before running those fingers through his hair and pushing it back, “Just how do you think you’ve made her feel?”

True to his threat, you sister is looking at you with the bunny print apron still tied around her waist. She sits there, turned in her chair and hiding the lower half of her face behind the back of the chair. Eyes wide, you can see them watering at the edge and threatening tears.

Grinding your teeth, you slump your shoulders in defeat.

~Fine,~ you growl as you approach the table and take your seat.

Koyomi perks up happily and brings you your plate and utensils. Happily and full of energy it is set before you and you take up the spoon.

The phantom of Zoisite only you can see laughs as he floats nearby, amused beyond his ability to maintain his composure. The white haired phantom of Kunzite appears in the corner of your eye, leaning against the kitchen archway.

Cutting through the omelette shell, you lift a small portion of egg, rice, corn, peas, and chicken. It looks normal enough, and smells as palatable as it did when you first entered the house.
>>
>>43758476

The first bite reveals to you the truth and you stop. Unable to hold in your shock you regard the two of them with desperate eyes.

~It’s good!?~ you question in shock as your little sister laughs nervously.

“I know, I was surprised too,” the blonde haired girl admits with slight embarrassment.

Giving your baby sister the evil eye, you slowly eat the rest of your omurice. Your delicious soft and flavorful omurice. This omelette rice of lies and deception.

Everyone else is far too amused by this for your comfort and calm.

Your meal finished, you stare at her, and your father, before going to get ready for the rest of your day.

~I’m going out,~ you declare as you come down the stairs having showered and gotten changed.

Wearing a light jacket, some simple cute overalls you picked up after your growth spurt, and a darker blouse you stop in front of a mirror by the door to check your hair. It really has gotten too long to manage and you should give some thought to reigning it in. A weight falls on your head as there is suddenly a familiar kitten is sitting among your conical hair buns and batting at them.

~Hey, we can play later,~ you explain to the quickly growing cat and pull her from your hair, ~I gotta get going,~

“Nyo way,” she explains in her high pitched kitty voice, “Missed everything yestahday. ’m suppose to be your guardian!”

You pause at that, Diana has been growing fast and getting quite chatty. It seemed like only a few days ago your cat companion was born unexpectedly in the Mizuno;s family home.

~Hey,~ you smile and excitedly appreciate that she wants to come with you today, but you don’t really have time to babysit, ~I’m probably going to be boring today, so why don’t you just nap and hang out with-~

“Nyo! ‘m your guardian,” the kitten asserts, “Should go with,”

>Nope
>Distract her

“Mikage-nee,” your baby sister cheers, having gotten changed as well, “Before you go, don’t forget your lunch!”

She presents you with a cutely tied off bento box. It is covered in bunnies and tied off in a bow. Diana, still on your head, sniffs the air and makes a delighted kitten sound.

>Sure
>No
>Distract her

Everything done, you make your way out the door and resolve your first course of actions. Since you have some quiet at this point in the day you’ll do some more work toward meditating on the crystal and your own personal schisms.

Leaving the house you head toward the Crowne Arcade to meditate in your secret underground Karaoke Lounge.

The arcade is more active than normal for a Wednesday morning, doubly so with you school closed for the day. In fact, a few people stop what they’re doing when you walk in and spare you more than a few glances as you make your way to the back entrance to the Karaoke rooms. Swiping your magic card once you are certain you are alone and stepping through the portal, you set down your things and kneel in the middle of the room, opening your locket.

Regarding the broken sphere within calmly, you pick something to focus on within yourself.

~Hey, Koyomi-cha, that was a pretty big mess you made in the kitchen for just three plates and two bentos?~ you question as you gingerly take the bento and blatantly hold it just out of Diana’s reach.

Well, blatant to you, she hardly notices your actions as she waves her paws at the bento.

“Yeah, I made a bit too much I guess,” the girl responds sheepishly.

~Diana, this bento is mine, you should probably ask Koyomi if you can have some of the extra,~ you scold the struggling kitten whose eyes shoot wide at your suggestion.

The small bundle of fur leaps from your hand into a surprised Koyomi’s arms and paws at the collar of her shirt.

“Feed me!” the purple bundle demands.

Koyomi looks up to meet your eyes, disapproval crossing her features to this action as you hold the bento box up by the bow. Snickering to yourself and bidding the two of them goodbye, you slip on your shoes and head out the door.

Kneeling with the crystal in hand, you regard its fissured components as your own unresolved issues and focus. For a moment you consider going over your still not entirely resolved feelings in regard to Tomoe Sensei. While you understand one another there are still some lingering things you want to deal with on your own, but one of them brings you to another issue on which you would like to focus.

Probably for the same reasons your big sister Usa does, you cannot deny that you think that Tomoe Sensei is beautiful. You have so many beautiful friends and you cannot help but admire them and feel something for them.

Not that you ever really admitted it before that day on the picnic blanket, riding the emotional high of your mother’s purification magic suffusing you with a passive and consuming happiness. Between that, how brave it was for Aiha to admit to her friends, Midori being able to reach Keiko with her feelings, and your own lingering feelings for Kairi...it is something you need to address.
>>
>>43759372
I'd have gone with bringing her along.

Accepting the delicious lies/food.

And thinking about the Beast. Undercover time soon.
>>
>>43760982

And more fully admit to yourself. As you close your eyes and steady your breathing, your mind drifts.

While you continue to find men attractive, especially their bodies, you do not deny you also like the fairer sex. Between your amusement at Aiha being attracted to Eclipse and the silent delight you had taken when your lips closed on Kairi-chan’s neck while your fangs drained her negative emotions, you are quite ready to admit it.

You like Kairi-chan’s face and her unusually red hair, it makes her stand out in your mind. You like and can admit attraction to a majority of your friends, and maybe can even admit to the way you feel out loud since so many of them seem to do so in kind. Well, you could admit to other parts of her appearance you found attractive when you pretended to be a boy. You weren’t pretending about that.

Though this too has a darker bent than imagining fingers drifting over soft skin and staring into pleasing and clear eyes. There is a competitiveness in you, a liking to the way you and Midori sometimes are at more aggressive odds with one another. And you can’t deny that as the beast you felt a certain thrill when you...No. That’s something to look at later, when you stared into three eyes and exulted in the fear you caused.

As you stop this reflection, able to more clearly articulate to yourself your own desires, you notice along one of the fissure lines there is a white hot glow on the golden crystal. Small areas touching have begun to seal themselves back together. It is the first sign of progress.

Closing the locket and righting yourself, you consider what to do next.

Taking a seat on the wall couch of your secret magical underground Karaoke lounge, the one meant for you and your team, you pull out your phone and mull over this and that.

Going over things you’ve let sit for quite a while, you return to the matter of Sasha’s ghostly sister. She did want to talk to you, and has had more than a few days to catch up with her brother by now. Though you aren’t sure the frame of mind you’ll need to be in to speak with her.

Oksana, you recall her name being.

Taking out your phone you shoot a text of inquiry to Sasha asking if you could meet with his sister. After a moment he responds in slight confusion and you explain a terse reason why, reminding him of the circumstances of her awakening.

It’s a private matter, and magical at that, so you provide directions for where she should expect to meet you a few blocks away from Infinity Academy. The location set, you rise and head to the leave the Crowne Arcade after first donning a face you haven’t in quite a while with the activation of your disguise pen.

Clad in a long sweater, a beret, dark leggings, and a deepened and darkened tone of hair, you stride out of the Karaoke Lounges with a confidence and a grace you don’t usually move with. Your mind drifts back, and a certain maturity takes over.

Far more mature in conduct and behavior than any other guise, perhaps even more so than you normally have.

Daphne, you named yourself Daphne in this guise. The chance to pretend to be a foreigner in your homeland, act as the outsider but with a certain calm.

Crossing the city quickly, to the occasional glance of more than a few folks out and free on a weekday afternoon, you find yourself entering a small cafe and patisserie nearby to Infinity Academy. Taking off your locket, you set it quite visibly on your small table and order a cup of coffee and a single sweet pastry to tide you over until your intention arrives.
>>
>>43762426

The coffee is black, it’s aroma soothes you as you take slow sips. The pastry is something you more appreciate with only a few nibbles.

A calming atmosphere, just as you like it.

At least, it is calm until your coffee slides away from your hand as you reach for it. Her face slides up through the table, see through and unhappy.

“Who are you?” she questions as you passively roll your eyes and take a bite of your pastry as her finger rises up and jostles the locket as she stays hidden from the rest of the cafe’s patrons, “and why do you have this?”

~No need to be rude,~ you explain without accent despite your foreign appearance, ~Please take a seat so we can talk,~

At your instruction, her eyes widen. You think she recognizes something in your eyes, you have used no power to fully suppress your presence or defining features beyond the superficial changes afforded you by the disguise pen. To the shock of a few other customers, she rises fully out of your table and floats back to settle on the chair opposite you.

~Moussier waiter,~ you wave down the now slack jawed young man, he does so cautiously and you gesture to your guest.

She orders some simple butter cookies and stares you down.

The other customers and diners in the coffee house slowly go back to their own business, eyes lingering upon the ghost girl.

“So,” she says plainly as you lay a hand on your locket, “You are ready to talk about that thing,”

~Yes, as I’m sure you’ve noticed you have not yet gone back to sleep,~ you say simple while taking a soft dragon on your coffee.

“I have,” she says tersely as the waiter passes by and lays down a small plate of pressed cutter cookies.

WIthout touching it with her hands, one cookie rises up and she takes a few short bites. To your surprise they do vanish within her, unseen despite her translucent state.

“You don’t want to give me that piece back,” she questions, causing a mild rattle across the table and more than a few of the clientele to glance over at your quiet exchange in worry.

Looking over the lip of your coffee cup, you again find yourself rolling your eyes. This entire matter is so trying and difficult. True to your expectation she slipped into an immature display, and you will not be dragged down to so base a level.

Certainly you understand her frustrations and difficulties, being dead must be an exceptional personal burden for her.

~That crystal, made whole, is the magical heart of the earth,~ you explain quietly and slip into a flowery description just shy of being proper prose, at least in your opinion, as you set your cup down onto the plate upon which it was served, ~It is a true starseed, and as it is manifest beyond the breast of this world so is its power borne within mine by flesh and soul,~

You treat with her honestly, you don’t try to put on airs.

~It was broken by its protector,~ you explain, ~to keep it from the hands of those who wrought horror atop Tokyo Tower. There is power from it they seek toward horrific ends, and it is power that is needed to keep them at bay. Whole,~

She is quiet. You are firm.

Taking a slow bite from your pastry, she continues to pick at her cookies telekinetically.

“He got hurt at the tower,” she observes in an accepting tone, “So did you, he was worried,”

She finishes her cookies after that quietly. Empty space hangs between you for a few moments. You run out of pastry and coffee as she stares at your in thought.

Quietly, she excuses herself and floats down into the floor. You don’t spend any time making assumptions of her, but after a few moments you return the locket around your neck. Paying your bill you think of what you should do next.

It is hardly after lunch, and while you are quite sated you find yourself feeling far too tense for your own well being. Having not come out in quite a while, all things considered, you decide to while a part of the afternoon away doing what bring you a measure of peace and solace.

Infinity Academy, during its resurgence, brought this portion of the city a minor renaissance of local businesses catering to the young academics. Little cafes, bookstores, and a few general media stores. Presently it is the bookstores that call to you, where there are books or coffee are the only things you need to make you feel whole.

A lovely stroll, still drawing the same attention as always, brings you to an older store brought back from the brink by the Infinity inspired resurrection. Its old and lovely. Its full of traded and used volumes. You delight in finding old printings here sometimes, others you could browse for hours.

~Good Afternoon, Moussier Nagato,~ you cheer to the older man behind the desk as you enter and begin to browse.

Before long, you find a small collection of poetry. Printed a few years ago, so you likely hadn’t read it yet. Though you recognize none of the writers, it's worth a look because you think the cover feels worn and loved.

Taking a seat in one of the shop’s comfy chairs, you settle in and read...you hand drifting to the white star shaped locket.

I like Daphne, I look forward to seeing more of her in us!
>>
>>43766092
She seems like the most normal version of us.
>>
>>43766092
Compared to normal Mikage, she seems like a kind of Anti-Bunny mode. She is very much unlike how a Tsukino woman should...actually she reminds me of Ikouku Tsukino, slightly.
>>
>>43767217
One more aspect for our analysis of the Mikage.
>>
>>43768373
Probably so much needed sense in there.

>Silver Base
Last thread, Silver got us Koyomi, so let’s try this.
>>
>>43769848
Err, thread before last.
>>
>>43769848
That was a Promptless color choice.
>>
>>43767217
So how do we get that back into the fold? Or anything. We got lucky once and it seems to be rather tricky otherwise.
>>
>>43771495
Well, look how much screen time the beast has had compared to Miki, that just might be red eyes being stubborn.

Miki and Red Eyes are a bit opposite as seekers of positive and negative attention
>>
>>43770590
Eh, it’s just a thought.

>>43771495
Well, the breakthrough for Miki seemed to be after spending a lot of time as her, introducing her to Usagi, and hanging out with the new team.

I’d guess that spending a lot of “on-screen” time in Daphne’s shoes and introducing her to dad might do the trick.

Despite the whole "pretending to be French" bit, she seems very much Mamoru's daughter.
>>
>>43772280
So she is like grandma, dad, and Tomoe sensei put together?
>>
>>43773567
Aspects, at least.

What is the tip on two Mikages? One Miki?

So, imagine this with Mikage and all her other faces instead of the various seibas.

That is fair. We got good service.
>>
>>43771744
It would be nice to have such a character sit down moment
>>
>>43780276
I am sad that I lack the skill to make a gif like that.
>>
>>43785350
Presumably we'd start with list making.

There are 10 Sabers in that picture. What 10 Mikages do they get replaced with?

Mikage
Pink Sailor Moon
Miki
Red Eyes
Dark Lady
Mimi
Daphne
Dan
Eclipse

Huh...one short.
>>
>>43786181
Endymion Armor Mikage
Princess Dress Mikage
>>
>>43785350
Likewise. I have no skills of gif artifice either.
>>
>>43786947
I see only one solution. Winning the lottery and buying an animation studio.
Anyone have the winning numbers handy?
