>Champion info: http://pastebin.com/bNditXfG

You awaken to the feeling of Abigail nuzzling your chest.

For a moment you're disoriented, before you remember that you decided to sleep in the bed last night. Moriarty is next to your hand, sleeping peacefully and looking fuzzier than normal after you blow-dried him.

It doesn't seem like Abby is awake yet. She somehow ended up on top of you, with her head on your chest and her arms hooked behind you. So you aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Which is just fine, you have a lot to think about before you even think about getting up.

Yui is dead.
Boss is dead.
Dwight is dead.
Jess is dead.

And as if that wasn't enough, Kyla is also dead. Kyla the apparently not so immortal goddess, who just so happened to be your patron in this blood sport. She was also your friend, if that matters anymore...

You still have your boon, but you have no idea how things are going to go now. Can you even go into the Arena anymore? Is the Scholar your patron now? Too many questions, none of which you'll be getting answers to anytime soon.

Then there's Jess. Her daughter will still be at home, hopefully. Jess mentioned that she would go into the care of her sister if anything happened to her... But Sarah probably doesn't know yet. Hell, Claire doesn't know yet either.

You let out a sigh. You think you're done thinking for the time being. It's too depressing.

You grab your watch from where you left it, beside you on the bed. It's 8:00. Still early. You can also see that the light on your phone is blinking, indicating that you have a message.

Too many things to do. You'll have to wake Abby, and then... do one of them... No matter how much you want to roll over and go back to sleep

Fuck the golden age, fuck victory, fuck the blood moon, We're killing harvey, even if that means siccing an insane frenchwoman musclegirl on him and wrecking everything in that path.

Also its unlikely, but its not impossible that Jess survived. However, the fact that Kyla is dead means some very VERY bad things. For one that a god dying is scary enough, and second of all that now the earth has no guardian.

Compromise between these two: Check the message (could be Claire, for all we know), then contact her.

I see what you've done Smiley. There's only ONE god that we can for sure contact.

She wears black.
Her name rhymes with "Vader".
And she has wiles.
So many, many wiles.
>>
In the end, it was actually Abigail who betrayed us
>>
We only have one choice now. We have to win, stab Abigail in the back due to unfounded paranoia, and then make ourselves a god and declare the earth under our protection. The cycle must be continued.

>>43916176
Suprisingly, this is actually doubtful, this is all incredibly roundabout if the plan was for our death, especially seeing as she could have stabbed us in the back several times by now.
>>
>writing
>>
>>43916176
Screwing her, after telling Claire it was over, certainly fucked us over.

Screwing her in the first place probably lowered our chances of appealing to her, even if she was supposedly cool with it.
>>
It was probably goddamn Julia who gave Saif that feeling of "being watched". She's always hated him, and would probably gladly tell Claire that he's back with Abby to stoke the fires.

That's probably why she's almost always with Claire; her job is to "keep her on target".
>>
You place a hand on Abigail's shoulder, but stop before shaking her. Instead, you start to run your fingers through her hair.

You know that being with her has ruined things with Claire... but even still, you don't think you would give her up. You've never felt lower than you did last night. And she was right there, hand out and waiting to pick you back up.

You walked home through the rain last night, under an umbrella of air. When you got back here, you dried yourselves off, tended your wounds, and collapsed. You didn't talk much. There wasn't much to say.

You hear Abigail breathing in through her nose, before she lifts her head to look at you.

"Hey..." She says, still at least half asleep.
"Hey" You reply.

She pulls herself up and gives you a kiss. "How are you feeling?" She asks.
"Like I never want to get out of bed" You say. "But I still have to"
She smiles sadly, and rolls off of you. "Thought of how you're going to do it?" She asks.

"I was... going to let Claire know about Jess" You say.
Abigail sits up. "You know, you might be too nice for your own good"

You get up and kiss her again. "I'm just showing her the same courtesy I would want if our roles were switched" You say.
Abigail sighs. "You do that. I'll get dressed and make breakfast, okay?"

"Yeah" You reply.

So guys, you know that Kylas plan is now worthless right? The whole thing hinged on her not dying so that she could continue to act as the guardian of this planet. With the blood moon gone there would be no reason for the gods to ever bother showing up here at any point.

Now that shes gone even without the blood moon the gods can still impose themselves here and start another golden age... with or without one of there people winning... Unless we can find another stubborn bastard (The Scholar wont work, he doesn't care about the earth enough to risk his own hide protecting it), willing to stay on earth we're down to pretty much Three options and a few wishes for option 1:

1: we win, then we'd need to make one of the following wishes

-Wishing away the sun (inadvisable due to the sudden death of everybody ever from this act).

-Wishing ourselves into godhood, it'd work but it would be the same shoddy patchwork that got Kyla into this situation to begin with, at least we could not make her mistakes.

-Wishing the gods away, not sure if it'd work, it'd also be horrific to do as not all of them are evil, and they probably are keeping other cultures functional

-Wishing the gods mortal, also a crap shoot.

Option 2: We surrender to someone with a reasonable idea, I don't see this one going well.

Option 3: We play the spider, throw harvey and claire against each other and watch the chaos, unfortunately puts Safi in the crossfire.

Guys... I don't see a true good end here, theres the okay end but no good end... we're fucked and its all our own damn fault.
>>
>>43916493
Wish for time travel. We know its theoretically possible since we've done it, of anything can make it practical for purposes of going back more than 5 minutes its the blood moon
>>
>>43916493
Not sure how it's our fault when we were forced into this in the first place. I feel like there's no easy solution. We just have to go with the original plan and deal with the mess like someone responsible should.

>we're fucked and its all our own damn fault.

>>
>>43916581

>>
>>43916493
Just realized something, we still have a potential good end, but its a really fucking long shot. We need to get in contact with The Puppeteers people, I have several ideas for how we could do so but ALL of them directly get us into shit with The Coven. We'd need to display magic or proof we are The Guardian in some manner that the government picks it up, either by fucking with the NSA with it, or by interfering in FBI affairs. Once we get on the governments Radar they'll come down on us and we can negotiate with them, assuming they don't torture us to death or some shit.

Smiley gives clues as to who the best end waifu is, it would seem...

DW: At the beginning, we meet an adorable princess, who, over time, we come to know as best daughteru. To acquire said daughteru, we acquire her mother.

BM: Saif has pre-existing crush on french girl, who, as it turns out, is a damn powerful contestant. Cheating on her has screwed any chance of her helping us.

You leave the room, letting Abigail have some privacy while she gets dressed. Under normal circumstances you would like nothing better than to be present for that, unfortunately these are anything but.

You sit down on the couch and look at your phone, as Moriarty hops up beside you.

The message is from Jess. The time puts it just a minute or so shy of the explosion...

"Meew" Moriarty says. He crawls up into your lap and curls up, like he's trying to comfort you... like he knows just how much you do not want to listen to this message.

You take a deep breath, and hit play.

"Heeyyyy kiddo" Jessica's voice comes out of your phone. She sounds like she's in distress, and very badly trying to cover it up. "Soo uhh... we're in a bit of a bind here. Goons with guns have just about overrun the place. Kyla and I are holed up in the bouncy room and uhh-" Her voice cracks a little. "I'm not really seeing a way out"

"We had a good run though... I'm glad that I got to know you. I'm-" You hear a sob. "I'm sorry it had to be this way. When you get this... tell my-... tell Sarah that I love her, and that I'm sorry... and do your best to make Abigail happy. She might be a man stealing bitch, but aside from that she's a good girl"

Jess takes a few heavy, staggered breaths.

"And I don't care if Claire is a maniac, or a murderer... she deserves better than what she's got. I won't ask you to drop everything for her, or even to keep her alive... just let her know that... even now" She takes another breath. "She's always been my little sister, and I still love her"

...

"You have anything to add?" Jessica asks.
"Things are going to be even harder from here on, Saif" Kyla says. "People have always put their faith in us gods, but right now... I have faith in you"
"Well said" Jess says. "That wraps this up... I guess this is goodbye. Take care of yourself, and-"

The message cuts, leaving you with silence.

>>43916944
It's not viable man, we just have to make it right for us now. We make sure this can never happen to anyone else ever again. There is no magic button
>>
>>43916995
Time travel IS possible, just normally pointless. Saif has done it, and again if anything would make it actually viable it's the blood moon. Even without the blood moon gods are gonna run rampant without kyla because earth is interesting.
>>
>>43917038
I'm just trying to deal with this rationally, I don't think time travel is viable. It's more like to fuck everything up worse than fix anything. I also doubt Kyla is actually dead. Her physical form may have been destroyed but there might be some part of her regenerating for lack of a better term.
>>
>writing
>>
>>43917080
It'd seriously be impressive to fuck everything up worse than we already did.
>>
>>43917136
I just think the risk in general is too great. Sometimes you have to deal with the shit that life throws at you, I feel like the best we can do is make sure that this doesn't happen again, to anyone.
>>
>>43917136
Oh yeah, imagine that our little paradox event throws the universe through a loop, causing countless other similar events and tangling up the timeline so horrifically that reality as we knows it decides to give up and go home. It would kill all life in the universe, except due to your damn paradox there wouldn't ever be any life in the universe to kill, so congratulations, you've ruined everything, but at least we might get to meet The Fool.

Alternatively, your little jaunt might be what sparked off everything, and we might be the fool... So lets please avoid this oh god no!
>>
>>43917184
This specifically wouldn't happen, but its not like the gods didn't go around provoking wars over ridiculously perfect women and assorted other shit even when the blood moon charging back up.
>>
>>43917320
Maybe we wish for The Fool to be the new guardian of Earth.
>>
>>43917320
>>43917136
Also, I'm just going to say it, the most likely way the universe will resolve that paradox would be by deleting us from existence, or us never developing time magic, both of which are a worst case scenerio. Although it'd mean safi would be powerless too.

Hell, I vote for safi coming along. We might need to put her in a simulacra first to make sure mind control doesn't reestablish itself though.

Moriarty climbs your shirt to your shoulder as you stand up.

When Abigail comes out of the bedroom, you go in.

"What's up?" She asks, before she notices the look on your face. "What happened?"
"D-don't worry about it" You say. "I'm gonna get dressed and head next door, to see Sarah..."

Abigail nods. "Good plan" She says, as she gives you a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be here"
"Thanks" You say.

She smiles, and heads into the kitchen. You go in and get changed. After a few minutes you come out, give Abigail another kiss, and head out.

You stop in front of Jessica's door, your hand poised to knock.

You've never really dealt with Sarah before. You suck at dealing with people who are crying. You suck with kids.

But she needs to know.

Your hand hits the door 3 times.

Nothing...

You knock again, and then ring the doorbell after a second. A few seconds later, the door opens by a crack. You can see the chain holding it closed.

"And you are?" The woman at the door asks. She looks familiar... in fact, she looks strikingly similar to Jess...
"Uhhh... Saif?" You ask.

"Your relation?" She asks.

"What happens now?" You ask.
"Well, once Sarah's awake I'm going to shop for place tickets back to California, and we leave when the plane does" She says.

"What about this place?" You ask.
"Take what you want, leave the rest for... whatever" She says. "There's nothing left of her warehouse, so no loose ends there"

You slam your phone back into your pocket. Talking to Claire really seems to have set you off.

You're not sure if it's a good thing that she still wants to talk. On one hand, you might get the chance to work things out peacefully. On the other hand, you aren't sure that's an option anymore...

Popping your head back into Jess's apartment, you call out to Natalie.

"Hey, uhh... I'm going to be going home now" You say. "I like right next door, feel free to come by if you need anything"
"I will" She says. "Thank you"
"And someone will be coming by before you go. She seems pretty innocent, but keep your guard up" You say.

"Should I let her in?" Natalie asks. "Who is it?"
"Claire Beaumont" You say.
"Oh... The Beaumont girl..." She says. "Sarah was talking about going to see her before we go... I guess it'll be easier if she comes here. Thank you, Saif"

"Don't worry about it... I... I feel sort of responsible for all this" You say.

Natalie walks into view. "Don't beat yourself up" She says. "Jess has been on this path for a while... I'm just glad she found people who cared enough to look out for her"

You nod, suddenly unable to say anything. Instead, you simply slink back and close the door behind you. You lean on the wall outside, covering your eyes with an arm as you try to stifle the tears.

"It wasn't enough" You mutter.

You take a minute to calm yourself before heading back into your apartment. When you open the door, you're met with a wonderful smell.

"Smells good" You say.

Abigail pops her head out of the kitchen. "I didn't think you'd be back so soon" She says.
"Jessica's sister was already there" You say.
"Jessica has a sister?" Abigail asks.

You nod. "Yeah. In the event that Jess dies, Sarah goes into her custody" You say. "She's hoping to have her in California ASAP, apparently"

"So soon?" She asks.
"She got really worried when I mentioned that Kyla died" You say.
"Right..." Abigail says. "I guess we'll be seeing a lot of changes around here soon..."
"For better or for worse" You say, as you walk in and sit down at your table.

Moriarty hops off your shoulder, catching you off guard. You'd forgotten he was there, and Natalie didn't even mention him...

"Meee" Moriarty says.
"Right, you haven't been fed" You say, standing back up. "Let's get on that"

"Oh! So... there was something I wanted to talk to you about" Abigail says, as she flips a pancake onto a plate containing a small stack of them.

"Shoot" You say.
"I... want to see my parents" Abigail says. "With all that's happened..."

Harv seems to have a... fixation on Abby, what with showing her all of his Mind Control toys, thinking that she'll be impressed.

Hopefully, he hasn't decided to visit her home after Safi, most likely, told him about Saif n' Abby sittin' in a tree, etc.

Her parents seem fine with him, so it's not like they'd turn him away.

Yeah I think that's worth bringing up.

Safi seemed to imply that he'd be jealous, which is weird, since he seemed to be fine with her 'boy toys' in the past.

Well he does already hate us for completely separate reasons.
>>
>>43920184
Holy hell, maybe HE'S the reason that she's saving herself; so long as he's alive, she knows that she'll have to get married to him.

They've probably been set up since childhood, what with all of the time Abby spent at his place.
>>
Guys! What about Jessicas Simulcron! Its possible to bring her back if we were able to salvage her soul over a day ago and put it in the exploded thingy!
>>
>>43920307
She would save herself for someone she hates, why exactly?

Meh, I doubt it. I think she just doesn't want her hymen gone before marriage, old-fashioned etc etc

"I'm not your boss" You say. "Just as long as it's safe, then yeah... do it"
"You're sure?" She asks.

Ah... she wasn't asking for permission. She wanted to know if you'd be alright without her.

"I'll be fine" You say. "If I get too lonely... well, I did say I wanted to meet your parents"
Abigail smiles. "Please don't barge into my house" She says.
"I'll knock" You say.
"Thank you" She says.

...

"The damn door down" You say. "I'm the Guardian, I go where I please"
Abigail pinches your cheek. "Then maybe I'll just have to chain you up" She says. "It'd stop you for a few minutes"
"I'm glad you realized how futile that would be" You say.

Abigail finishes cooking, and you both sit down.

You check some things on your laptop, while she messages her mother. You mostly look at the news involving last night's explosion. The police have got nothing.

Natalie was right. There's nothing left...

When breakfast is done, Abigail kisses you goodbye, as her mother came to pick her up. That leaves you with time to do... something... uhh...

You sent Moriarty with Abigail, to alleviate your fears. According to her, whenever I feel worried I can try to sense Moriarty. If he's calm, then all is good. If he's not... well, then it's time to knock on some doors.

So you're left alone to your apartment, with nothing but questions left.

And there's only one type of being that can answer them...

Unfortunately, you have no idea how to contact them...

"Do I... do I just call for them?" You ask. "Smith! Scholar!"

...

Nothing. Either they're too busy, or that just doesn't work. So you can't contact them that way... You kind of got used to just running into them so often, but that was all just because of Kyla and Boss...

You aren't out of avenues yet, though. You go looking through the pockets of the pants you wore the other day, and find a business card.

"Tasha Polovi... realtor..." You say, reading the card over. "Better known as the Traitor"

You don't particularly like her, but this is all you've got right now. If she tries anything funny, you can always leave or kick her out...

You hate that you've been driven to this, but out comes your phone...

"Hello?" Tasha asks.
"Hello" You say.
"Ahh" She says. "I was wondering when you'd call"
"Look, I'm just-"
"You've just been backed into a bit of a corner, and need help" She says.

...

You sigh. "Yes" You say.

There is a knock on your door.

"That's you isn't it?" You ask.
"It is" She says. "Can I come in?"
"You might as well" You say.

Tasha walks into your apartment, and the first thing you notice are- as usual -her breasts. Only not for the usual reason. She's dropped a few sizes to a more modest bust. Seeing her now, she actually looks pretty classy when her tits aren't bigger than your head...

On top of that, she seems kind of... somber.

"Hello" She says. "How are you feeling?"
"Not great, but I've honestly got other things to focus on" You say.
"Like whether you're still a champion, or where all of that mana goes if you don't have a god" She says.

"Pretty much, yeah" You say.
She sighs. "Mind if I sit down?" She asks.
You raise an eyebrow at her sudden politeness. She didn't seem to have a problem inviting herself in last time, or intruding on your couch and shortly after your personal space.

"Sssure" You say.
She gives a restrained smile, and goes to sit down.

"You're acting strange" You say.
"These are strange times" She says. "Do you drink?"
"Uhh... not really" You say.

She smiles. "I do" She says, leaning forward and pouring herself a glass of wine from a bottle that wasn't there 10 seconds ago into a glass that was also not there before.

Then she downs most of the glass in one go...

"Are you okay?" You ask.
"Sorry, I got a little sidetracked" She says. "I'm afraid that I won't be able to answer most of your questions. I have experienced many things in my time, but I fear that I am... lacking... in this case"

"Why?" You ask.
"This is the first time this has happened" She says, as she swirls what's left in her glass.
"A god dying during the Blood Moon?" You ask.
"A God dying. Period" She says.

"But you can lose your immor-"
"Only under circumstances that we avoid as though the very fibre of our beings depends upon it" She says, taking back the rest of her glass. "Because it does"

She leans forward again and pours another glass, taking a more conservative sip this time as she sits back down.

"To be honest, it has many of us frightened" She says.
"But Kyla wasn't a real god" You say.
"She was" Tasha says. "With or without a connection to the wellspring, she had the divine spark. That makes her a God"

"And yet you all felt free to tromp all over her domain" You say.
"Only when the moon is red" She blurts defensively, before correcting herself. "But I see what you mean"

"So if the gods are frightened, what does that mean for us?" You ask.

She gives you an odd look, like she wants to answer but doesn't think that she should. After a moment, she takes another sip and puts down her glass.

Tasha looks you right in the eyes. "Nothing good" She says.

That's all for tonight!

Oh fuck... If Kyla can die like that it means something in that warehouse was capable of killing her. It also means that you can theoretically kill a god by weakening them or cutting them off from the wellspring and then inflicting trauma. In other words, even the gods can die. Also this means that the gods might panic and decide to glass everything that even remotely resembles this planet and what happened here, so that nobody learns the secret.
