Are the dragon god's dreams whatched over by ong?
>>
>>43947397
Yo. So why did you origonally want this pantheon anyway? Out of curiosity.
>>
I don't see there's any point in me writing anything else, since apparently if either Scribe or Mapmaker don't like it, it just gets glossed over and ignored.
>>
>>43947397
Do you have links to the previous threads?
>>

>>43947689
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=primordials

Seems to be it. I hope that it includes all of them.
>>
>>43947570
Seconded. Just to know if someone is going get paid for someone else's work or you just wanted a suped up pantheon for your weekly dnd game.
Or you were just bored.

>Dat relationship chart
This is why I made a primordial god who doesn't care about petty squabbles.
>>
>>43947804
>>43947570
He said he wanted to do it for fun in the first thread.
>>
>>43947397
I feel like if I stare at this thing long enough I'll find the true meaning to life hidden in the crossed line.

that aside, I'm working on some new shit for lore
>>
>>43947859
To be fair, all the primordials seem stood above everything with minimal links.

>>43947905
Righto.
>>
>>43947570
>>43947804
Just wanted to make it a fun game, and see what /tg/ came up with. Am not dissapoint
>>
>>43947859
Petty squabble is the best thing in making gods, that is why I made a god that is all about being petty. See, it works the other way too!
Also I posted, uh, a little excuse of a story in the last thread that makes me realize how much Ura must hate the thieving gods, being the goddess of "building giant hoards and never allow anyone to touch them". Even is she sends her servants to steal stuff. Well, the important thing is that you don't steal Ura's stuff and this is what Zaka Tyroniqus did. Hope RelationshipChartAnon reads this.
>>
>>43947992
True, but I feel like sometimes we forget that in most mythologies, there are some truly powerful deities that are rarely mentions simply because they are way too powerful, and they control the universe. Too often, people make gods like that but forget they are supposed to be strange, distant, more ideas than things, and more things than people. I initially was going to give TTJ some more personality, but I decided I liked the idea of using the scions as its main way if direct interaction and keeping it as strange as possible.
>>
>>43948071
See thats the thing, its a balancing act.

You want the stories and reasons for their existance, but without being so obscure they never show up. Your scions are a good work around for that.
>>
>>43948071
I ike them both ways to be honest. I feel some gods are meant to rule and be distant and the others to be glorified divine dicks to the other gods and the rest of the world. What is alien in them is the share size, so to speak, of their emotions: a god of greed is not greedy in a way a human can be, not even the greediest human you can find will ever be able to fathom what is like to be a god of greed. This makes people able ro understand and realte to gods while never being able to fully comprehend them, imho.
>>
>>43947643
What would you like added dude? Sorry if I skipped over it, my bad. It's a lot to keep track of
>>
How will the world end, if there's a myth for that?
>>
>>43948189
Yeah, it was already discussed in the previous thread
>>
http://pastebin.com/bjxLNxpm

I made a pastebin for the Wretch tale posts from the last thread.
>>
>>43948189
Everyone kills each other essentially.
So kind of a civil war ragnarok.
>>
>>43948259
Or they all combine into one SUPER GOD
>>
Uh, I think we need to organize this fast. It's already looking like a circuit board.
>>
>>43948307
I wholeheartedly agree. The list while comprehensive is also kind of hard to read. The lines connecting Sohai to his kin and such constantly intersect with other gods like the Ever Ready. And the gods of imprisonment's have this empty space in the middle of the map.
>>
>>43948235
they're already covered in the lore post, but thanks anyways.

>>43947397
If anyone wants to, feel free to convert the pastebins into a google doc, as was noted by someone in thread 2.

Ura

Marik/Ura love child?
>>
To understand Niva is to understand existence for Niva is existence all things that were and all things that exists draw thier power from Niva. We mortals and gods are just self-aware aspects of it and yet separate for it has no understanding of life or death of right and wrong it dose not possess the essence we call a soul but do not be fooled in to believing that it is a force of creation for as surly as ever thing exists so to does nothing exist.
>>
>>43948176
Oiala and Varya from the last thread were completely ignored, and Scribeanon even said how he'd intentionally omitted them from the pastes, so...
>>
>>43948307
More like a subway map, I think. I kind of like it like that, it's nice and complicated, as a social network spanning loves, hatreds, and everything in between would be.
>>
>>43948541
I don't mind complexity, in fact I like it, but the whole thing is hard to understand.
>>
>>43948521
Oiala was the only thing ignored last thread, due to the quota of primordials being filled.

Varya was very much included thank you.
>>
>>43948445
Write about it if you want, I am ok with it. What was him about again?

Marik is all about Forbiddin Knowledge

Last thread it was established that Ura and Marik are rivals of a sort because Uras dreams holds secrets that Marik wants.
It was in the last thread, I can dig it up if you like.
>>
>>43948954
Where do the gods live?

Is there a god plane where they all have little slices, or do they live in remote locations on the mortal world?
>>
>>43948984
I would appreciate it.
>>
>>43949027
IIRC some of them live (partially) on the mortal world, whilst others live in some kind of godly realm
>>
>>43949105
>>43949027
Perhaps the gods live in separate godly realms in the metaphysical universes connected to the world (great cog stuff), or maybe they make their own realms (the underworld, the dream, Arimue's canvas, etc.)?
>>
>>43948888
Humans (various) everywhere, elves and dwarves (various, locations undefined).

No evil races yet, though we have lots of random monsters.
>>
>>43949174
I always thought they would carve themselves some celestial bodies whether in orbit or at distance where they just ball around and give it their own little micro-ecosystem depending on who the god is. This idea generally coming from how i imagined that Nimhe lives on Nimhe's Jealousy, the radioactive moon.
>>
>>43949219
There are demons, though.
>>
>>43949063
oh shit, I got Ura mixed up with a different god. They both had 3 letter names.
>>43949219
Don't forget the Unseen!
>>
>>43949322
True, though thats less a race and more corrupted souls and various races.
>>
>>43949219
Some kind of gnoll/dog people that serve the not!aztec Storm eye cult. (the dudes that worship Myrea as Mah yis Rah)
>>
>>43949219
Also, the various races living in Kahoan. Which reminds me I should finish the story for the continent.
>>
>>43949219
There also Salach, who live in The Scar.
>>
>>43949219
You want evil races? I can give you evil races. Let me just get me adversity juices flowing first.

>>43949335
I see, though Marik intrigues me now, think he and Ura could have some common ground?
>>
>Every celestial body on which a god or multiple gods live is connected through a "hub realm", allowing gods to travel from realm to realm and possibly into the mortal world
>>
>>43949551
Now your thinking with portals.
>>
>>43949551
The underworld is located in the hub realm between Nadir's prison and Aria's moon.
>>
>>43949592
I thought of the underworld as its own pocket dimension/realm, instead of a part of a realm or plane. Really its not a place you want people just walking into and out of easily without the required powers or permission.
>>
>>43949592
There could be some kind of hub in a huge maelstrom in the ocean, I can see it working.
>>
>>43949644
I figured it would be connected to the moon, due to the alleged relationship between Ballan Sur and Aria, as well as connected to Nadir's jail, as other stories have depicted it connected to it.

Who is there to say there's only one hub realm connecting the divine realms and the world?
>>
>>43949644
Ballan Sur was generally enraged when every god and godling would just walk through his home realm. Every time one wanted to pass through, Ballan Sur would have to get up from his ass, open the door and let the god in while watching them carefully to ensure they wouldn't grab a few souvenir souls in their passing. Eventually Ballan Sur just installed a rotating door and stopped giving a damn.
>>
>>43949574
You're. Sorry, that is one of the few grammar errors that annoys me.

>>43949219
We should figure out what the races are like. Do we want hippy elves (no pls) asshole elves (no pls) or hippy elves that are assholes (god no).
>>
>>43949693
What we want and need is dimension travelling robot bird people.

Its fine.

Well races will probably be classical tolken style in allot of aspects, but being a younger race ide add in a fair bit more naive and hidden away instead of arrogant proud.
>>
>>43949693
well, we have the remnants of snide 'better-than-thou' elves that survived TLG's genocide via weaponised kiwis, as well as the few winged elves.

How about
How about the elves are artistans
Sort of a dwarf thing with less beer and more locally brewed licor. They hate imported stuff that they can make themselves, if they can they'll make their own hammers and nails, and use them to make a house with wood they cut themselves from the forest of their family (Which is tended to, traditionally, by the oldest member of the family)
Then make a nice, quick, rice&meat stew andeat it while reading a book their cousin wrote in a comfy sofa.
In short, they like the comodities in life, but have a uber boner for making said comodities themselves and tailoring them to their tastes. If they were humans, they'd be the kind of guys who carries a linux instalation in a portable SSD and makes a weekly backup of the ir config files.
>>
>>43949770
sure thing, how do you want to change it?

>>43949781
wrathful elves resenting humans and their patron gods could be a thing, maybe even combined with >>43949797 for the elves who just don't care anymore and want to live their lives in peace.
>>
>>43949693
There could be both kinds, hippy elves and asshole elves who are rivals.
>>
>>43949815
"THE GLASS IS HALF FULL!", hollered the elf, aiming his wand.
"IT'S HALF EMPTY, YOU IDIOT!" answered the other, doing the same.
Another elf teleported between them, holding a hand at each.
"IT'S HALF FILLED WITH AIR!" he screamed at them, tears of rage streaming down his cheeks.
>>
Oh, I have a great idea for the wrathful elves and linking them with Kahoan, started working on them as we speak.

Teagan Sky Lords

Teagan Sky Lords used to live on the planet of Teaga in another dimension. Thousands of years of advancements and evolution lead them to be the most powerful species on their planet. Their numbers grew, yet their planet could no longer support their kind. The gods of Teaga, more concerned with their favorite planet than it's most thriving species, weaved a great plague to kill all that had flesh on the planet. In desperation the greatest mind of the Teagan people gathered atop a mighty pyramid to discuss how to stop the plague. Many days did the debate go on until they came to the solution: Ascend the flesh, become the Earth. The Teagan people built mighty statues in their image and had the artisans craft intricate joints, ligaments and articulations into these statues. In the eve of the New World when all but the Teagans remained on their planet, a ritual mass suicide was proceeded. The gods of Teaga thought the world empty and descended down to marvel at the statues their favored people had left behind. But when the gods entered the Teagans' lands, their powers were drained and fused with the souls of the Teagans that nestled into the statues. The mighty crafted monsters took flight and left the gods weakened and stranded on a dead planet. The Teagans renamed themselves Sky Lords and began to study the universe from their immortal bodies, regarding organic life as a human regards the termites infesting their house. They traveled and studied, until deamons were attracted to their presence. Some Sky Lords were destroyed, but those who remained split themselves into smaller ones, reducing their personal power but gaining the advantage of numbers. They fought and studied the deamons and eventually learned of their dimension hopping powers and hijacked it. Now they have arrived into the world of Saladia. They mainly reside on the Egg and occasionally descending down onto Saladia to search for a way to extend their existence on the expense of others.

You can help if you want! Doing all these by myself is hard. Why not do the other elves?

The God of Forbidden Knowledge
Keeper of Things that should not be known to Mortals

Once upon a time, in a age long sense forgotten, Marik served as the God of Knowledge, learning, and teaching. All across the land men and women of all races and walks of life would attend these prestigious schools of learning.
How ever, as time past, Mariks lust for Knowledge and the will to expand his library became corrupt. and eventually, fell into madness and he began to uncover the darker secrets of the universe.

As time passed, he began to share these secrets with his followers. and before long, his Church had gone from a place of higher learning and education, to one of madness.

Marik, despite his madness, still has a deep love for Knowledge, and will actively fight against any god that attempts to hide the truth or impede the quest for knowledge.
He allies him self with Gods who support intelligence.
There is a legend that he has a book that contains the darkest secrets of the other Gods. If that is true, who can say.

Once, he became angered by the Mist Goddess Alina for her desire to hide the unpleasant truths of reality from mortals.

For years he argued with her about the right of knowledge. Eventually, the resentment between the two blossomed into a brief romance the led to the creation of the Misty Mountains, and the race called 'The Unseen' by the other races.

Today, followers of Marik are few and far between. You would only ever find them if you purposely sought them out.
>>
>>43950079
Because Ura is not a good godness for good elves I guess, but being also an extremely useless godness of greed I will pass.
>>
>>43950103

Looking over some of the other Gods, I think Marik would have a great interest in Tiranel.

If no one objects, how about they cratered a race of Gnomes who love tinkering and learning?
>>
>>43949854
Then a dwarf teleports in with a smaller glass
>>
>>43950314
how about them having worked on them together before Marik became corrupted by the forbidden knowledge he had found?
>>
>>43950363
"Ye got it all wrong, pointy earsh! It's supposed tha be filled wif ALE!!!"
>>
>>43950365
Can they still have the gnomes?
created before Marik lost it

and maybe Tiranel tactically works to try and bring Marik back from his madness? A lost love she longs to see once more?

and this leaves the Gnome race kinda divided on how they should worship. And maybe even they have a Chapter of Clerics that specialize in healing the mentally ill?

Vayralore coming at ya

The Vayranor known today is a lover of drink and jests and general partying, who makes the most of his (fairly limited) free time, but this has not always been the case. Once he was wrathful. Once he was surly, focused and impatient. Once he was (and we thank the Gods he no longer is) EDGY.

For millenia he had laboured for Marik in the hopes of finding a way to save his lover but all to no avail. There is only so much hope one heart can hold, and Vayranor's well had run dry, causing him to become an annoying ass who bitched about roughly one hundred percent of things. But all this was to change after one night.

Marik discovered a set of ruins in Viluvia, said to contain tablets covered in ancient knowlege. He sent Vayranor to retrieve them and recieved edgy affirmative grunt no 237 in return. Upon arriving at the ruins Vayranor discovered that they were mostly underground and protected by powerful Sorcery (probably put there by some giggling bastard) that would result in him being weakened while within its walls. Not being too fond of fighting hordes of assorted monsters while only being twice the strength of an average mortal, Vayranor set out to find a group of mercenaries to aid him. He did not have to search far.

He found a band in a forest not far from the ruins and appeared before them clad in mortal form. He offered their leader Uric a rather large fortune in return for his aid securing the tablets. Uric was skeptical and doubted that Vayranor had the money he promised them. He enquired who the man before him was, with coffers apparently deeper and fuller than the oceans themselves. Vayranor replied truthfully and Uric replied with laughter. He could not believe that the small man before him was one of the divine and so refused Vayranor's offer. The irritated god asked if Uric wanted proof. Uric said he did and ordered a table and pair of chairs brought to him at once.

Tiranel kind of gravitates more towards the feminine, than, say, Marik.

OTOH, collaboratin' to make TEH GNOMES sounds good, but they'd need to enlist Beryl's help for that.

Krakens

See travel is seldom advised, but it is necessary for thriving trade, exploration and connections between continents. The seas are stormy, trips long and drinkable water scarce, but one danger stands above the rest in the open waters. The massive race of octopi with three dozen tentacles each as long as a sea serpent, mouths lined with razor sharp teeth and a singular eye atop it's head: The Kraken. There are very few of them and most of the time they reside in the depths feeding on whale carcasses, but nary a sailor dares to travel in their waters. Territorial creatures, the kraken have little tolerance for outsiders in their homely waters and act aggressively anything large enough to pass as a kraken for the dumb creatures. Ships are mainly the target of these aggressive assaults for no kraken wants to wrestle with one another and are quite satisfied with their own little holes in the ocean floors. Only a single instance of two krakens engaging is combat has been recorded and the short of it was as follows:

"Their massive bodies collide like moving mountains and their thrashing and swiping resulted in vortexes large enough to swallow a small island into the depths. It was less a battle of might and dexterity, but of size and endurance, even though in this case the smaller and older kraken (judging from the large amount of scarring on it's body, lost tentacles and faded eye) was the victor. It was a sight to behold, but not something i would want to witness again for the fear of being caught between it".

Cassandra Mariax, captain of the trade vessel SS Kiwi.

It's lore for the god Vayranor, it is a pune or a play on words. anyway

Uric stated that if Vayranor could outdrink him his company would aid in the retrieval of the tablets. Vayranor, surprised at the lack of need to murder, agreed just in time for the first barrel to be broken open. At first they drank alone, eyes locked on the other daring them to give up, but the average mercenary isn't one to be sober whilst others are drinking so they joined in, turning the drinking contest into party. soon Vayranor began to become intoxicated but with the atmosphere as opposed to the drink. It had been a long time since he had drank or laughed or sang and soon his own voice joined those of Uric's men, allowing the fears of his life to melt away in the face of deunken revelry.

Time passed and as light flooded the land the next morning it was greeted by the site of a pitched battle between man and beer keg. broken casks and unconcious warriors lay everywhere sav eat the center. There sat both Uric and Vayranor, still standing, or at least sitting. Vayranor noted that their game seemed to be at its end, what with there not being any alcohol left, but Uric snarled back that this game woud only end when one of them was passed out on the forest floor. Impressed at his dedication Vayranor decided to treat the mortal as an equal and recover from the depths of his robe a bottle of the Gods own wine.

He was half through explaining that thsi was divine wine and drinking it could kill a mortal when Uric snatched the bottle and chugged the whole thing. When he finished he offered The startled god a pleased grin before tumbling off his chair and into the dirt.

Suffice to say the tale of the battle to retrieve the tablets is an epic one (as is the tale of how the collective hangovers were dealt with) , But since the day of that contest Vayranor has returnrd to be much as he was before the loss of his beloved, much the same as the man she loved.

Earlyer i proposed that the dragon who was defeated to create the world, had their soul shattered, and that all soul and thus all life was a part of that.

When the end comes, all souls will again be free, so maybe having the end being said souls fuse again into that one god and you have a plausable way to fit in with current story.

It does leave the primordials out of it though.
>>
>>43950803

So no romantic story?
>>
>>43951211
I would think that when it restarts the cycle, it would split itself into the primordials in the first place.
>>
>>43951275
At this point its a case of: if this is to be accepted, so we change what is already written, or do we not bother?

Its simpler and easier to write into the current mythos rather than revamp the entire thing.

A single overarchig god seems counter intuitive for this setting in my opinion.

The Dry

Yal-Hagur flakes as he passes the desolate landscape he himself creates. This residue is what remains of the creatures he has sucked dry to sate his thirst. They often gather in the form of the poor creature they were once part of, sometimes creating abominable hybrids of all the residual existence. In tales these monuments of thirst are called Husk Statues. And if by chance any water or blood touches these Husk Statues, it comes to life in a form much akin to it's former life, yet lifeless. Neither an undead nor living, the Dry are said to be Yal-Hagurs thirst manifested as beings other than himself.

However the truth about these "Dry" is a lot simpler and less romantic, ironically. The soul still remains in these Husk Statues and it is blood that keeps the living alive. Once anything that could replace blood in the creature's body comes in contact with these soul cages, the soul thinks itself in a living body and survival instincts once again kick in. And in it's current form hydration is the souls' greatest goal.

"The Dry act separately from Yal-Hagur, but many following in his wake instinctively. No reason is giving why. Perhaps there is a remnant of the thirsting god in these Husk Statues after all. Or perhaps the Dry see the lord of dust and ashes as their now father figure. Whatever the case, it should be noted that the more Dry and Husk Statues there are in an area, the more likely it is that Yal-Hagur is nearby, so caution is advised if you come across these beings."

I wouldn't think it's a god of anything because by the time anythings starts to exist, the one god would be gone.

>Varya was very much included thank you.

How in the world can you include Varya without Oiala? Her origin story is that she was literally one of his killbots whom TLG decided to turn into a real girl, Pinocchio.

Without Oiala, her story changes so much that she becomes something entirely different but using the same image, doesn't it?

What if the primordials are the remnants of the previous Supergods consciousness? They exist so that the Supergod, even though he splits his body apart, still has mental capacities in the form of whatever primordial they take. They allow the Supergod to still perceive the world, and interact with it for its amusement, and are formed around figments of its personality. There are some parts of its personality that shall always exist if the world is recreated (TLG, TYA), while others are dependent on what kind of god won the war and merged the other gods into it.

When a new supergod is formed, these primordials cease to exist as concepts, while the primordials that will stick around regardless continue to exist within the Supergods consciousness, and are impossible to purge or assimilate into another being. Thus, some primordial are truly eternal, while others only exist in this universe temporarily.
>>
>>43951342
>>43951452

I was thinking of a god that comes before even them, something that basically starts reality over once it ends, and that as the Supergod splits, these shards become the primordials, the dragon, the Cog, and the concepts of conflict, time, and identity.
>>
>>43951450
She's perfectly usable without Oiala. TLG found a creature, converted it into a divine servant, Tiranel took her in and made her a servant of progress.
Done, unneeded primordial is not needed.

At least the first split. This time around, it would make something else from the split.

Shit this sounds a lot like my own setting i've been churning on the side. Well might as well throw my two cents in then.

The Supergod that splits into the current primordials is actually the collective of all the gods that existed in the last Existence. The Supergod then itself chooses the principles of the universe, creates the Cog, the dragon and concepts of the universe and then splits itself into them and disappears. This repeats itself every time the Existence ends, because when a god or a primordial ceases to be, it's power does not die with it, but becomes the stuff of reality, what everything is made of in one form or another. This happened before and will happen again. It's the endless cycle, the one thing every setting these days needs to have.

As such the only creature to have been able to ascend from this cycle, at least for once, is TLG since he is not truly a part of the Supergod that existed before, but something much more whimsical and random.

This of course on the consensus of the big boys is canon or not-canon, these are just my two cents on this deal.

Those shards could simply could be the Supergods Id, Ego, and Superego manifesting as separate beings when he splits apart, much like the Primordials only they are also consistent.

The Dragon is the manifestation of the Id, he desires to consume the fabric of reality regardless of the damage, he represents the Supergods base desires.

The Cog is the manifestation of the Ego, it orders the world and rationalizes everything to be realistic, as well as manages the Id from becoming out of control. It represents the Supergods desire for order.

The Phoenix is the Superego, directly opposing the Id, and acting as the moral compass/policeman of the Supergods desires.

Sorry for getting all Freudian btw.

Lets not again talk about cosmology or End Myth and focus on the stories and little dudes?

Idea: Before Sirachs Fall, most gods lived in a Golden Heaven.
It was wrecked during that Rebellion and currently almost every one roam the World (or have created their own areas) and The Golden Heaven is used mostly for great meetings and ceremonies. Et-Tarsis still guards it, though.

Few gods have quarters there actively maintained, as a memory of old glory days.

Sounds neat but both primordials you mentioned (TLG and Taj) happen to be the very same primordials that ascended from mortal status, with Taj being literally the line without beginning, so stuff like "the first split" doesn't really apply to him.

A timeless god being part of a cyclical one feels odd.

Sorry for taking so long, I had some unexpected setbacks.

First contact with the other races was awkward, seeing as the humans could not understand their languages, though with time the humans and the others grew to understand each other. After some time of learning with the beastmen and teaching them the ways of the humans, exchanging mirrors for gold with the elves and gaining their trust, the humans felt right at home with the warm welcome they received, and agreed to forfeit their former lives to live amongst them. But of course, there was bound to be turmoil and conflict at some time.

A group of humans decided to take advantage of the situation they were in and started spreading discord amongst the elves, saying that the rest of the humans were teaching the other races how to fight, were supplying them with weapons and were planning to take over their land and the mounts of gold they sat on. The elves, naïve as they were, believed these humans and asked them to prepare for an eventual conflict. The humans, unsure of how this would go, agreed on a plan to train them and bail out back to where they came from with the elves' gold and the possibility of becoming noblemen for discovering a new continent with many resources and riches for taking and new land to colonize.

Back to what i do best: Monsters.

Scourge Vermin

Most common monster one can come across in the lands of Saladia. No larger than a cat, these small furry tailless, earless creatures are a common pestilence in any place that does not get a thorough scrubbing every week. They have a distinct odor of rotten fruit emitting from their thick, coarse fur that comes in all the colors of an outhouse after a night of "Guess which food is rotten and which drink is poison". Not a greater threat than any common vermin, they still have gained their name for being the most numerous and common of all monsters, often bringing about disease and considered an omen of bad weather in some parts.

>>43952318
Which is why I wrote that Tiranel and Aimee were frequent lovers, despite - perhaps because of - Aimee being Tiranel's daughter.

They emerged and multiplied before the gods could even care, their lives were short, meaningless and fickle, but their souls became stronger when they returned to Ballan-Sur.
The humans multiplied for millenia, and they fought eachother in small villages, and started venerating the gods of merryment. They toiled and they learned agriculture, and at some point, they simply split.
Some humans decided to go one way, some the other.
No mortal is really sure what made this split, but the humans started to spread all over Saladia, all the way to the far easts of Trasfagar and even further, the humans were everywhere. To the gods they seemed like a sudden storm of vermin, but it provided them great joy to see them rise and fall in a twisted analogy of the gods themselves.
But even though the humans were many they were isolated, in small groups, no more than a hundred, they did not organize. Even though a lot of the gods tried to get them to it, and the humans were easy to guide, they did not seem able to form empires at all.
This was when Kravolan appeared, and oh how the gods loved Kravolan, he was brave, he was intelligent, and he was a great leader, most importantly he was not godlike in any way. Through his guidance, his village formed, into a kingdom, into an empire, and when he died an old man he divided his Kravolan Empire between his 17 most beloved children.

About the Book of Deep Truth (Ura, Marik and Nimhe, or how the deep spawns came into being)

It came the day, ages ago, that Ura, the abyssal lady of ruin, sought to replace every race inhabiting the land with her own spawns; and in her typical fashion, started to find a suitable way to generate more and more horrors as fast as she could. It wasn't long since then that she realized her creations were corrupted and imperfect, unfit for her dreams of grandeur: unseen and untold, race upon race of sea dwelling monstrosities were spawned and destroyed by their fickle goddess. As much as she hated the thought, she had to put her pride aside and ask another god to share with her the secrets behind the creation of intelligent races.
And while lost in her bitter muttering over this matter, carving her way around her ever growing hoard, she came upon something long forgotten in the pile of treasures, a little, insignificant book. And Ura was on the verge of flinging it in the ocean when a thought spawned in her mind: who had all the knowledge accumulated like she accumulated gold and artifacts, could have had the secret to creation she so fervidly craved.
So Ura came to Mirak, the mad god of knowledge, and went all the way to his library and to bow her sinuous form before Marik's seat. Her deal was quite simple: she offered Marik to pick from the most precious pile of her hoard, the Bed of Want, which held artifacts of power second to none stolen personally by Ura; in exchange, he had to reveal her where the secrets of creation were hidden. Ura thought herself smart, knowing that while Marik could have not known this secret himself, he surely knew at least where to find it; this, and the mad rambling of the God of Knowledge could have led Ura to commit any kind of unwitting mistake if he had refused to reveal the secret in a less than cryptic speech.

Treant

A monster as any, the treants maybe the only benign creature classified as a monster by Authority of Adversity's only truly sane opus, The Encyclopedia of What Will Eventually Kill You. They are Aérath's servants and sentinels of nature. However they are not aggressive and even enjoy the company of sentient creatures as long as the respect is mutual and the hatchet stays buried. Although they look like walking tree monsters, truth is that they are flesh and bone as any ordinary animal, but their skins attract a particular type of moss that hardens into bark-esque substance. They are know to share secrets of nature and dance merrily with resting travelers, some reports state the treants even brought food and drink in order to celebrate the night away.

HOWEVER no matter how benign and friendly, they are still monsters, so they pose a threat if agitated. Treants are, after all, sentinels of nature and will protect forests and meadows all the way to the bitter end. Standing between two meters to six meters tall, depending on the location (bigger trees and more vegetation=larger treants) they pose massive strength to tear human limbs easily and the largest are know to lift large rocks and tear trees off the ground as weaponry. A treant knows that a human needs wood to light a fire and to build, that meadows and forest are cleared to make space for crop fields and living space, but should man take more than needed they will fight back. Entire villages have been wiped out as a warning by the treants and to weed out these monsters one would require a small army regiment in tow to truly purge them from their habitats. Poorly made swords break on their tough bark and their tiny, gleaming, beady eyes can see everything in the forest.

Incidentally craftsmen are known to pay large sums of gold to those who bring them treant bark and eyes as materials. Some take custom orders for free, even pay their customers for the honor.

And instead, was Marik to laugh,as he spurned all the treasure ad instead picked that book, that anonymous that led Ura to ask his help in first place, and than crackled an answer: the secret was held in his library. Ura raised her head, and realized how impossible such a task was even for a goddess: finding such an information in the endless stream of knowledge that the mad god had gathered was only possible with the help of Marik, and he himself refused to tell her anything else, asserting that he had respected his part of the deal already. Ura stormed off, her rage boiling the sea and crashing towering waves ashore, finding solace in the fact that she lost nearly nothing in the failed trade. Marik laughed some more on his seat, and then opened the insignificant book, and started reading about wonders Ura would have forever missed: the book, to those who had the eyes to read it, revealed nothing else than the secret of creation. When Ura came to know this, she was on the verge of attacking Marik, who refused to let her read the book now that she had so abruptly ended their deal; end instead she returned to him, and pledged herself to his service. And for a time, she stood submitted to him, forced to share what her thefts yielded with him, even though she not only didn't respect nor love him as she faked to, but utterly despised him. For Ura never loved anyone, barring one exception.
What she got out of this humiliation, were strands and bits of knowledge, promises, and nothing concrete, and this only fueled her rage. Until eventually, she came across the only god to ever inspire something more than hatred in her.

Good idea. If we do this, we would need to explain how primordials work, though, so it is best to maybe keep it as hidden lore, that is unknown to even most of the gods outside of the primordials, who are all working to delay the final battle as long as possible (except TLG, who is doing whatever he does).

For in Nimhe, god of poison, the low ranking god saw what she always wanted to be. Ura envied the primordials deeply, and many of the gods who seemed to look down at her; by contrast, Nimhe forced the other gods to acknowledge him as their equal even in his defeat. Feeling attracted by him, Ura left Marik's side without a word to follow Nimhe and pledged herself to the service of a god once again; and for the first time it was not out of selfish interests.
From Nimhe, which Ura came, without even realize, to love deeply, she couldn't learn how to create, but how to corrupt. By this time she had given up to the idea of creating a race that could replace the land dwellers, and devised something else: something that could kill them, that would mock their form, their essence, and be their nightmare for the ages coming. She used her newfound skills to mash fishes and birds, her servants, with abducted elves into horribly deformed beings, and thus the first Sirens were born. All this process she detailed in a book, and then burned it to spite Mari, even though the god of knowledge was probably already apart of her secrets. And it is said that a copy of this blasphemous tome, the Book of Deep Truths, still infests the world with his unsavory presence.

More unexpected setbacks, sorry guys.

The other humans, unaware of what was going on, lived happily among the beastmen and seafolk. The humans were so widely accepted by them that they felt as if they were always a part of the group. The elementals paid no mind to them, as for while they did not to anything exceptionally useful to everyone, they also did not disturb the peace and balance. This all ended the day the elves decided to attack the humans by surprise in the middle of the night.

Targeting the tribe where they were gathered, flaming arrows were fired indiscriminately upon the huts, and warriors brandishing steel weapons slew the runaway humans. Their attack would be a success, if it were not for the beastmen and seafolk that were among the humans. Realizing what they had done, the elves stood in shock, seeing entire families dead, burning and running scared. When they noticed what was going on, the elves decided to rush back to their village, but it was too late. With their home destroyed, the riches gone, feeling betrayed by the humans and shunned by the rest, they attempted to rebuild and restore themselves.

Some years later, long after their self-imposed exile, their regret for what they did to the people that lived on the island and the disdain for the humans that had betrayed them had not waned, and they used these as fuel for their rebuilding. One day, the elves saw dozens of ships heading towards them, and they did not look like they were coming in peace. The elves went to warn their former allies of the incoming danger, only to find that a battle had already broken out between the invading humans and the seafolk, beastmen and the outcast humans, as they liked to call themselves. Without time to think, the elves decided to act: they went to the defense of the island's people, completely overpowering the small army that was pillaging the tribe and ordering the people to run and hide deep into the uncharted islands.
(cont.)
>>
>>43955093
Fending off the attack wave by wave, the elves saw their numbers drop significantly. When the humans noticed this, that's when they went with full force. Even with thousands of humans against three hundred elves at most, they did not retreat. Only when the human commander joined the battle, the elves managed to finally be defeated. The commander, either out of pity or pride, allowed the elves to live and escape.

This battle is what led the humans to estabilish the city of New Kardash a few months later and the colonization of the continent. To this day, the fate of the outcast humans, beastmen, elementals and seafolk is mostly unknown. They did survive the battle and probably have a large population by now, but they have never made public appearance. The fate of the elves is even more shrouded in mystery, seeing as few of them survived. There are, however, many myths and legends about them, most being very brutal and with the moral of the story about fearing them.

I came up with a bit of lore

The followers of Marik all stood by as the army marched through their peaceful commune. They were equip with arms and armor of steel, led by a young man atop of mighty horse.

"Who is the leader of this place?" Asked the young man.
There were brief whispers among the followers of Marik, until finally the eldest of them stepped forward.

"I suppose that title would fall to me. What is it you seek."
The young man dismounted his horse and approached the Elderly Man in a black robe

"I am Prince Eric, of the City of Calamen."
The Elderly man said nothing to the young prince. "I have come to take this mountain in the fathers name."
The Elderly man smiled warmed. "Have you? Well, thats all well and good, but you will have to take that up with the men at the top of the Mountain."
The young Prince frowned. "You do not claim owner ship of this land?" He asked.

"No, we are simply try to warn the foolish away." The Prince took insult to this. He went to back hand the Elderly man, but stopped him self.
"Then I shall climb the Mountain and I shall subjugate them as well." The Elderly man nodded.
"Be my guest." He said pointing to the path that led into the mysterious mist. "I shall warn you, the Unseen do not take kindly to uninvited visitors."

The Prince laughed, "Well then, they shall take kindly to our swords!" The Elderly man rolled his eyes. With that said, the Prince led all of his men up the Mountains path.

Soon after, the sun set, and night came.
When the sun rose once more, the followers of Marik came out of their homes, tarps in hand and Wagons at the ready. It would be a long day for them, lugging the hundreds of now brainless bodies to the burning site.

But such was life for these strange men and woman. The Guardians of the Misty Mountains as they came to be called.

The Gnomes of Saladia are spread far and wide, but the largest colony is found south east of the Misty Mountains, along the coast line, called Kethos

the Gnomes strive to discover new technologies, taking after their Mother Goddess Tiranel.
They have no quarrel with any of the other races Saladia, although some individual groups have been know to be extremely hostile toward the Gnomes for their refusal to share certain discoveries they have made. Mostly because the discoveries are extremely dangerous.

A very small group of the Gnome race take after their Father God, Marik, how ever, Marik aided in the creation of the Gnomes before his decent into madness, and thus, have stayed with the old tradition, and maintain the small, but prestigious, College of Marik.

Excellent stuff, with one change: Humans have to exist already in the Era of the Fire, oppressed by the Elves.
And Queen Myrea was a Human herself first.

It sounds like a misplaced myth what has changed over the times, with new gods added when needed.

We can say that Era of Rune happens directly after the Sun War and _before: Era of the Fire. And ends in the Ascension of Myrea herself

The Encyclopedia of Things That Will Kill You Eventually

On Monsters, Demons and Beasts

"Firstly an introduction is in order. I am Teekeus. Some call me the Authority of Adversity, some call me a madman. I call them assholes and dickweeds. I've spent my life studying tomes about anything that could kill you and i consider myself an expert on the field. As such i have gone out of my way and classify the deadly dangers that lurk in this land.

Monsters: Monsters are the primary threat to everyday life on Saladia and other continents. A monster is distinctively different from an animal due to it's main attributes generally being "aggressive, deadly and connected to gods somehow". The last one is the main difference between a monster and an animal. Although monsters might not be directly controlled or created by the gods, they are still somehow connected. Take for example the scourge vermin who are believed to be rats from Barak Tuth's prisons that the evil god himself disfigured accidentally during his routine torture sessions of other creatures. Monsters could be called the "unnatural yet natural animals" of this world.

Demons are purely unnatural creatures and, more often than not, invaders from another dimension. The origin of demons is debatable through the fact nobody truly knows where they originate from. This doesn't mean that demons can't be born from our world too. A demon is any creature that lusts power and tries to achieve it through the consumption of souls. Even though you would believe all demons are a unified force, in truth there are several factions within their ranks. Most notable two are N'vylla's "earthly" demons and Empty Vessel's "extradimensional" deamons (Author's note:yes, they are supposed to be spelled like that if the demon is associated with EV). A demon considerably more powerful than anything the common folk could be able to vanquish on their own.

>cont.
>>
>>43961871
Cont.

Animals are completely normal and natural. They are born from evolution rather than divine intervention. Although their original species might've been monsters, through natural evolution they have become "natural" things in this world. More numerous than monsters and considerably more common (Author's note: Except for the scourge vermin) animals have integrated into human lives as cattle, game and pets (Author's note: I can smell cat piss every where i go). Far less interesting as whole than demons or monsters, animals are generally providers of fur, leather, food and fat for the people. This doesn't mean that animals can't be monstrous. The sea serpents and the kraken are great examples of borderline monstrous animals, yet their evolution was natural and thus are classified as animals.

Incidentally humans, elves, dwarves and halflings could be considered monsters based on these descriptions, but doesn't the old saying go "Humans are the real monsters"?

It stated that the newborn creature was to be faceless, never to be pictured in any way.
Looking backwards, it was really stupid to prevent anyone knowing the face of the most infamous corrupter of the Gods.
Perhaps Nimhe, in those very few moments, already had altered Lord Sirach and planted the seeds of His fall?

The kraken are octopi and sea serpents are big snakes, don't think those are your things.

>>43962066
Not any of the three so far because firstly they are not technically creatures anymore, so they might fall under "undead" or "constructs".

There should be a rivalry line between Ura and Tyroniqus, he stole her bling.
>>
>>43962159
Seeing as the seafolk currently have no connection to any god, what do you think of Ura being their creator?

And to clear it up on them, I'll share it with everyone: Seafolk are pacific, tribal and intelligent amphibious humanoids that can be found on oceans, seas, coastlines and islands all over the world.
>>
>>43962159
You can claim animals to be "blessed" and "yours" but they are not monsters unless you, the god, directly was part of it's transformation from one point of evolution to another (see putrid unicorns: used to be horses, get cancer from Nimhe's Jealousy and are now unicorns).

The Encyclopedia of Things That Will Kill You Eventually

Chapter II: Borders of Divine and Mortal, Living and Dead

Aside from the massive gap between powers, divine creatures and mortal creatures have each a singular defining difference between others: mortals have souls and divines have "Essence of Power".

Essence of Power is generally is the source of all existence. Whatever created the primordials shed large amounts of EoP into Existence and this power gathered in primordials. From them the power then was passed onto their children and fragments, it also sheds from them over time until the End of Existence is upon us. If a god dies, EoP from them dissipates into the empty void where it stays until somebody claims it purposely. Otherwise the EoP is gone for good. (Author's Note: EoP is my term for what the gods channel as their power, debates can be had later).

Souls are what makes things mortal. Souls are part of an endless cycle of birth and rebirth. It's theorized that there's only a finite number of souls at the beginning of each Existence and that number resets ever time one Existence ceases to be.

Monsters and animals posses souls, therefore they are mortal. A monster souls becomes another monster and animal souls become animals. The cycle repeats endlessly.

Like gods, demons are outside of this cycle, but for other reasons. Firtsly deamons are soulless creatures much like their lord and thus destroying one end it's existence permanently. "Normal" demons however work on the same principle as divines.

>cont.
>>
>>43962234
cont.

There are still ways to stop the cycle. Both mortals and gods are know to do this for reasons of their own.

Undead are bodies whose soul has not returned to the cycle yet and is "living" on borrowed time. Their bodies still continue to decay and cases of the undead become less and less like they used to be, becoming little more than feral beasts. If a god however does the same thing to a mortal these "undead" are not classified as such, but become "lower divine" as they are no longer part of the cycle technically. Still for confusion's sake i classify them as undead due to the nature of their being.

Another unnatural way to remove a soul from the cycle momentarily is to bind it into an inanimate object. These are called constructs, golems and Fuck-It's-The-Bird-Statues-Again-Run-For-Your-lives in their respective regions and dialects.
>>
>>43962233
>pacific
Ura would hate the fuck out of them, she created the sirens to plunder and terrify the coastline. And it is canon already that she needed Marik's help to create a functional race, and failing that asked for Nimhe's help. So...

So while Ura was feigning love and devotion for Marik, eventually she tried her hand at creating a race. Little did she know that Marik already foresaw this and her plans were thwarted by Ura herself. In her infinite want for a race of perfect servants she didn't realize how much giving free will to them would have impacted on her plans; and while at the start the seafolk blindly adored their goddess, they soon came to resent her cruel rule and left the deepest abysses, coming to live near the coast and islands, soon turning to worship of gods that didn't compel them to a life of violence and greed. To this day, seafolk still feel the wrathful stare of Ura and only thanks to Alina's protection they are able to withstand her rage. Sirens harbor a particular hatred of seafolk: what little intelligence they possess suggests the sirens that they could have been like the seafolk and enjoy the life of a fully evolved race instead of being stuck as their mistress' tools. While their dim wits are barely enough to understand this concept, nonetheless they are filled with murderous intent at the simple sight of a seafolk.

Chapter III: Nimhe's A Dick

Most common death anybody can suffer? Disease. If the sewers stop working, rains refuse to water the crops and scourge vermin infest the wheat silos disease is sure to be there. About half the fatalities that happen are caused by diseases. Here is a catalogue of a few of the most common and deadly sicknesses out there.

Nimhe's Breath: Advanced form is common cold, this lung disease makes it's victims cough until their lungs become scarred and dry. High fever, infected fingertips and pale complexion are common symptoms of this disease. Victim's death can be slowed with spiced honey, but only luck and help of gods can save them from certain death.

Scourge: A disease carried by the scourge vermin, hence it's name. Easily treated and fought off with strong immune systems, scourge causes the victim's body to lower it's temperature giving other diseases and easier foothold in the body. On it's own not deadly, but longer periods of illness can invite other sicknesses into the host.

Radiant Growth: Inexplicable cancer growth that happens when Nimhe's Jealousy hangs high once a year. It's glowing lakes cause mutations in the wild life and mysterious flesh growth in humans. If the growth happens on a limb, cut it. If it happens anywhere major, you are guaranteed death.

Dry Heave: An allergic reaction caused in people who have inhaled the flakes from the dry, they cough and spit and puke uncontrollably. Deadly in it's most severe cases only, victims of this disease are useless for several days after contracting it.

>Cont.
>>
>>43962511
Ura's Anger: Disease contracted from impure waters, victims who contract this disease start growing boils all over their body and their blood becomes thin. Their lungs fill with fluids and diarrhea and puking are followed by it. If the victim is taken to a skilled doctor, they should be fine in a few weeks of intensive care and fluid removal. If no doctors are available, the victim will die in a matter of days.

Tuth's Embrace: Contracted through infected wounds, this disease causes muscle contractions so strong it has been recorded to have crushed a woman's rib cage against her lungs. Common disease after battles and skirmishes, dirty and rusty blades are excellent vectors of this disease. Legend has it the Gods of Imprisonment created this disease to expand their domain and to spite other gods. Hard to treat, this disease has a 5/7 chance of killing it's victims.

There are hundreds of more sicknesses, but most of them pale in comparison to the listed ones. For a full catalogue of all known and recorded diseases, consult Maxima Alia's opus "Plague Victims".

Nice writting.
Who is the intended author? Because if its a mortal or none primordial not connected to knowledge then we can have contraveining statements on where things draw power from, from both sides. With one statement being accepted lore by mortals, and the other accepted lore by the primordials, nessecating no alteration of your work what so ever.
>>
>>43963994
Hey, B.S., I've got a question for you.

Can we put some kind of limit on Ballan Sur's ability or willingness to take direct action?

So many good stories about necromancy, and immortality, and such, just become implausible or broken when Big Daddy Reincarnation Cycle is ready, willing and ABLE to step down and smite mortals, demigods and gods alike with PRIMORDIAL POWAAAAAH. I had an idea about a low-tier character with a narrowly-focused but incredibly powerful power, who'd be shitting on the cycle by her existance and what she does, but it doesn't work if Ballan Sur can just say "You know what, enough of this," and moke her out of existence with a wave of his Bony Biggerstaff.
>>
>>43964056
Generally the deal is: Ballan Sur lets the mortal world deal with necromancers until a point. When they really threaten to become unstoppable is when he will step in.

Nominally he cant detect necromancers due to their lack of power, they are lost in the background noise of arcane energys.
(Hard cap on ability to just pop up and kill a guy for fucking with his shit).

Liches stand out like a sore thumb and he knows where they are usually (unless they know concelaing magic). But again, mortal buisness of his followers and who else hates necromancers (basically everyone else) unless it gets out of hand.

The reaction on the first necromancer was, again, the first necromancer. Hes chilled out since then. I think its a good point in time for Ballan Sur to have actually founded his church as an indirect means of dealing with necromancers in general without having to pop down himself contsantly.

The cycle is pretty core to Ballan Sur, so if something seriously threatens it, im sorry to say i will not agree with just leaving them alone. They will come into a conflict with death.

The onus is on you to think of interesting ways to avoid direct confrontation. e.g. magically hiding, invisibility, interesting use of Phylacterys etc. Its not impossible. Note: The staff is basically a spiritual control rod, also used to affect composition of souls. If a lich makes a Phylactery and confronts death, the staff cant actually do anything, because the soul is hidden. Then it becomes a magical hoe down between the lich and the death. Another reason its simpler to leave it up to mortals and just deal with the soul when it enters the underworld, with special circumstance exceptions.

Now to clarify: Destruction of a civilization or two is not special circumstances. A dead zone the size of a quarter of the globe or bigger is.

These are the caps on intervention I propose.
>>
>>43964211
With these, you can have a super powerful special necromancer or three without Ballan lifting a finger directly.
(so long as its not too close to the first, and no more necromancer gods please, unless your ok with one eventually getting bumped off, demi gods is a-ok, or even divine servants of the current one).

Just dont go overboard full destruction mode, or try to fuck with the cycle permanently.
>>
>>43964211
>>43964235

I kind of think we need a more overarching prohibition on Gods taking direct action against mortals. Or at least, a stricture along the lines of "yes, you can go down there and act, but you may only personally act with powers no greater than that of a demigod," the way Tiranel is fond of going on adventures.

I mean, that's Ballan Sur.
What if we get some, say, God of Carnage who exhults in nothing so much as destruction, Skulls for the Skull Throne style? What's to stop him from just deciding he wants a new collection of skulls and going down for a big old reaping? Ballan Sur wouldn't give a fuck since notKhorne isn't fucking with the cycle, he's just reaping skulls.

Conversely, if someone's power gets to be too great, they'd be promoted - forcibly, if need be - to Divine Servant status, which would then mean they'd be under the same restrictions, and would have to shed their worldly objectives and focus on otherworldly pursuits.
>>
>>43964316
Generally the limiter is other gods and TTJ in some cases.

Because every single sentient being is, by and large, followers of another god.

If mr Kill all goes down, hes going to eventually get swarmed by various champions, scions of TTJ and holy blessed armys, casters and generally heros and it'll tamp up as he progressivly pisses off more guys, gets dog piled and shoveled into the jailors cells for the next three millenia.

You can propose a limiter other than disinterest, dislike or so forth, but none of it will fit for all occasions, or be something the individual cares about, they have their own justifications. Ballan is your main problem here because you want to write about things in direct confrontation to him. This is while not wanting problems to arrise for your characters that alter your prefered flow of story. The loose limit definitions I propose allow an easy progression of adversary for your characters until someone is dicing with death himself (which is a good thing for future gamers in the setting, to use as a yard stick for their adventures), as opposed to bug squash, which was a legitimate concern you had and one i will happly work with you on.

But im not going to say "have free reign", because then whats the point of having a primordial god of death if he just gets walked all over every time he is challanged? Basically becoming reverse bug squash.

The strength of response in The first necromancer is me trying to work with it on a good storyline, taking into account my vision of Sur, without totally overwriting, rejecting or scrapping what was written.

As for individuals who grow in power, generally they get recognition by a god and dealt with by the writters of those. We could easily codify a standard response such as your idea of promotion, the individual being offered divinity to serve as a role, and getting taken from their current mortal role to fulfill it. Then having restrictions on their free time/will/movement.
>>
>>43963994
I think i gave myself a little bit of lore in the last thread.

>>
>>43964595

Oh im happy to have you as cannon anon, though i did write a section on powers of primordials myself last thread i think?

Either way:
One thing everyone learns in education is that every stage prior to "We dont know" is a little bit of a lie meant to get the principles of that level of subject detail down in your mind to then further build upon.
As such, its happly possible your mortal character really truely belives his version of powers and reality to be true, while in actual fact something else is, hes just part way on the stepping stones of knowledge in that area.

Again allowing contradictory lore/history writtings to be present. Which is cool, since one lore could be found by one set of people, while another could be found by another set of people and folks can theorise to high heaven and back on what is actually true.
>>
>>43964494
>>43964316

Just to clarify TiranelAnon, Im actually glad you push me to write these responces.

As i compromise with you, we hash out a more believeable story between us, and things become less bland because of active conflict of interest emerging, while working on ways to resolve them. It helps flesh out characters personalitys when faced with conflict and allows for progression and growth, instead of a 2D cut out of an idea or person that never actually does anything more.
>>
>>43964211
Mostly, Balan Sur just ask TLG to deal with the necromancers, 'cause it stops TLG from messing with Balan's dimension. And it's not like TLG has anyhing to do really, all he's been doing most of the time was just messing with other gods and playing Paradox Poker with Taj.
>>
>>43964797
Part of the problem is that conflict is basically impossible when one party has the power to just completely curbstomp the others, and nobody who can stop them is inclined to do so. TTJ even said he thought it was a bit OOC for TTJ to step in and broker a deal.

Frankly, I think that unless TTJ has the power and authority to force celestial resolutions, or someone else does; someone even a Primordial can't just wave-off, then Primordials shouldn't be claiming domains that give them an agenda on the mortal plane.
>>
>>43964900
Then we disagree, and i dont think i can really convince you otherwise. Even with reasonable limitations suggested to self imposed by the characters themselves.
Please write with regards to the current setting if you want to add to it. Because i doubt youll convince people to change everything for you.
Or just put up prospective storys, theres nothing stopping anything you write from being a fictional work within the world itself.

I cant really agree with wanting to write someone poking a dragon with a stick and them not getting incinerated, when their get out clause is stand there, do nothing, because too weak to touch.

The Encyclopedia of Things That Will Kill You Eventually

Chapter IV: It's Just Nature, Son

When you travel through a forest, getting an infected wound, being mauled by dire squirrels or contracting the dribbles from impure water are not the only things that might kill you. The forest itself and it's weather is equally dangerous and sometimes even more destructive. "Common weather" is present around all of Saladia; rain, storms, calm and so forth, but some places have very unique phenomena in it's borders, and those are far more interesting than talking about the slight dribble that made the maiden's unmentionables wet when the boys of the village failed to do so.

Razor Storms: Anything above Kardash knows seasonal winter very well, but the areas near mountain ranges find them to be worse than sour milk. The mountains collect ice and the howling winds flake it off slightly in it's passing. The ice then takes flight and during particularly strong storms can shed large amounts of this ice away. These sharp ice daggers can flay anybody not wearing sufficient protection and at their worst can tear through anything that is not reinforced leather or stronger.

Rotten Rain: The lands near the Scar have the pleasure of being rained upon by the toxic waters of the lakes from the Scar. This rain kills crops, burns through roofs and cause epidemics of disease to break out. Theory has it that the rains are caused when the waters from the poisonous lakes vaporize during hot summers, forms clouds and travels during stormy seasons. But these conditions are very rare and specific that the Rotten Rain happens only once in a few years.

Dry Winds: As much Yal-Hagur himself is a natural disaster, the trail he leaves causes natural disasters as much as the thirsting god himself. The Dry Winds are more or less common sand storms, but these have flakes from the Husk Statues and the Dry

Standing Stones

The world is dotted by ancient ruins, sunken cities, shattered statues and empires.

But the strangest structures of all ancient times are the standing stones. Old before mortal time, they are simply circles of carved immovable stone pillars. Some with tops, some without, some encrusted with magical gems, moss, lychen, flowers. Strange each and everyone.

Rumors abound about these stones, but the most accurate old wifes tale runs so:

Every lone full moon the stones come alive and hum. The inside of them appear strange, and fey laughter can be heard faintly upon the winds.

And should you pass into these circles, knowing the propper words, you can enter the strange realms within, and travel between the circles, even be they thousands of miles apart, within the span of a night. But beware traveller. For only the correct words and the right wards will allow one to travel safely. Lacking either one is to end in dissapointment or utter disaster.
>>
>>43965238
Cont.
These flakes still exhibit characteristics of their origins, thus they suck dry water. One merchant from Kardash said it the best: "It's like trying to walk through a storm of salt". The winds dry those caught in them and gather in river beds, blocking the flow.

Hot Winter: When the Egg hangs at it's highest during winter, it reflects massive amounts of light and heat from the Eyes more than usual, melting snow and heating the lands. "Oh joy, this is better than the all encompassing cold" think people, but the nature's collective yells "fuck me" as a result. Creatures with thick winter coats die from overheating, plants don't know whether to grow or not, opting usually the latter and the fauna start dying out due to the general lack of edible flora. This way the ones at the bottom of the food chain cannot feed or breed, the predators hunt them to near extinction and the predators then either attack people or die out themselves. It screw with the cycle of seasons and takes it's toll on nature. This also happens in areas where winter is a rainy season, but instead of melting snows, it causes storms with more wind and less rain, drying these areas out. Astronomically speaking this happening as even rarer than Rotten Rains, happening every seven decades only, but the results are devastating nonetheless.

And now i am off to play CoC, see you later in the night if i bother/have time.

Hey I'm back. Sorry I was sleeping, but now I can clarify how TTJ works.

TTJ creates feeling like guilt and remorse as its main way of enforcing justice. This also creates the desire to enforce justice, so without it there would be no concept of right or wrong. Now, TTJ does get sort of involved in divine affairs, as it may upset the balance of the universe and such. It has several powerful scions that will interfere with the gods, but I have not gotten around to writing them yet. But basically, to answer the question "Will The True Judge intervene?" you have to answer a few questions:

1. Is something unjust happening? TTJ treats every injustice as equal in terms of attention, that is no matter what it is it will make a blip on the karma meter. Now, it will not give the same amount of guilt for all crimes, that would be dumb, but it also does not care if you are a good or bad person. It is lawful, so it it theoretically possible for a bad person to not be affected, but because of how TTJ works this almost never happens.

2. How much damage is being done? This sort of ties into the first point because TTJ views most activities on a worldly or divine scale as unjust in some way, but just because gods are involved does not mean it will get involved.

This leads me to a few important points:
A. When I say TTJ cares or thinks or anything like that, I am trying to explain the scale of it. TTJ is not exactly all-knowing nor is it all-powerful, but it is so high up that it might as well be compared to even most of the gods. Effectively, TTJ is always around, always influencing events, as it is the punishment for crime. Guilt is a bad feeling, do you like feeling guilty? Think about how powerful a being that controls an emotion like that is.

B. The True Judge is reactive, not proactive. TTJ does not stop you from doing things directly. You may not do something because of guilt, but you are not being influenced to stop, you are being punished for the thought

Considering Zalkum is the god of destruction, would it end up being TLG VS. Zalkum?
Killing everything seems like a likely endgame for ultra-dick that is Zalkum.

>>43966583

>>
>>43966451
Cont.

...thought. In order to be punished in any way, you have to have done something, otherwise that would be justice being unjust, which is a paradox. Which brings me to...

C. TTJ is not entirely all-knowing or all-powerful, but it is all-good. It simply is not relative. You can have two bad choices, and one is clearly far better than the other but involves doing something slightly grey, you will still be punished. Justice is absolute, and if you were to go back in time and kill Hitler as a child, you would be punished even if you know that Hitler will one day be evil.

D. Except when the above is not true. Of course, paradoxes are what make ageless, multidimensional entities of unfathomable size, strength and intelligence so fun! So if some really serious shit goes down, TTJ may get "more" involved than simply controlling all feelings of internal hate in the entire universe. The scions can sort of be a cheat, being manifestations that do not follow all aspects of TTJ's nature, but from its own divine view, they are not breaking any of the previous. But when something truly world-ending may happen, something that should not be possible, it will manifest itself in its "true" form and deal with the problem. I am not sure how to work this in to any of the stories yet, as this is an era defining event, but you can't just summon it for relatively minor things.

TL;DR: The True Judge will care if a five year old takes 2 cookies instead of one just as much as gods killing each other: incredibly while not at all.
>>
>>43966602
I guess it's okay if TLG's power is to have a full control over the concept of Plot Armor

End of Times was talked already in the first thread. Then we talked about Myrea's Carnage:
>>43909857

Of course, it is entirely understandable that this kind of world has many stories regarding the End. Probably none are true, only Taj Yr Akna knows.

Disturbingly, every end myth so far has included The Laughing Guy, oh boy...
>>
Good to see the thread is still going!
>>
>>43966830
It depends. Obviously, as a lot of injustice is done in the world, many people are able to shake of the influence of TTJ. The scions mainly get involved to deal with these kinds of people, but it is very inconsistent, at least from out POV.

I know this sounds a bit contradictory, but it sort of is. I am still fleshing TTJ out, and may change some of what I wrote. In general, most people are effected relatively strongly, as evidenced by the fact that most people are not criminals.

I'll put it this way: you understand guilt. You have felt guilt. How much do you let if affect you? The guilt he creates is not a special kind of guilt, it is guilt itself. No guilt of any kind would exist without TTJ. Just think of it as real life if occasionally people who lack empathy or ignore their feelings are driven insane by servants of a mysterious entity that, when serious shit is about to go down, can manifest itself into pure justice.

Neat. Seems like quite a bit more progress was made since I last visited.

Regarding Vryoka Mahva Thostra's title, I think it would be more thematically appropriate if it remained "the Dragon God" though, what with all the other references to dragons all over the place. In fact, that part of the name was actually the first thing I came up with when developing the original concept, and I just built around it from there.

So that this isn't just me commenting purely for the sake of nitpicking, have an unrelated lore contribution.

The Sandmen

It is told that in times past, a cabal of powerful mages built a great city in the Southern lands. They achieved the height of learning, and in their hubris they attempted to summon Marik into the divine realm, and bind him in servitude so that they might wrest the secrets of the universe from him, and surpass even the Gods.

It is uncertain what precisely transpired then, the only certainty being that the ritual was a cataclysmic failure. Some say that the mages succeeded in summoning Marik, but that strong though their magic was, it was sheer folly to think it might be able to contain a God. Others say that the ritual called down a deity other than its intended target, most likely Tispakal, Ong, or even perhaps drew the ill-fated attention of the Laughing God himself. A few scholars are of the opinion that no God was successfully summoned at all, and the results were simply the magical fallout of a botched ritual conducted by those who thought they knew more than they did.

What is certain, however, is the effect of that failure. Whether by magical accident or divine wrath, the great city of the Southern Arch-Mages was blasted into dust, the surrounding land turned to desolate desert. Still more terrible, however, was the fate of the city's residents. The souls of the mages passed into the realm of Ballan Sur when their bodies were disintegrated, but their minds did not.

So Original OP, what do you think of the world that has spawned?
>>
>>43968525
(cont.)

The consciousnesses of every inhabitant of the city was permanently bound to the material realm, fusing with the sand and dust left behind by the ruin of their civilization. Their new bodies were formed from the sand of the desert, bodies that would reform endlessly from the sands if destroyed. What happens, to a body with a mind, but no soul?

Bereft of their souls, their original sparks of life, the mages-turned-Sandmen were rendered little more than automatons, each imprisoning a mind incapable of even realizing its current state. Incapable of forming new memories, they continue to go about their tormented existences as if they were still alive. Every time they are destroyed, whether by natural disaster or mortal hands, they inevitably reform, all memory of their previous experiences lost, doomed to repeat the same futile actions until the end of time.

Unfortunately for travelers of the desert, a great deal of the mages' deeds leading up to the failed ritual involved the systematic abduction of victims, both willing and unwilling, as sacrificial ritual components. Of course, the rites they performed have a different result now. If the Sandmen successfully take hold of you, a new Sandman will join the soulless masses wandering that wasteland, one with your mind imprisoned within for perpetuity.
>>
>>43968771
That sounds like a great place to go rampage in for shits n giggles.
Since they cant form new memorys, as soon as they stop looking at you, to them, you and your actions cease to exist. Itd be perfect for getting some rage out in a fairly harmless way.
>>
>>43968525
>>43968771
Just realized I made a typo in the first post, that should be "attempted to summon Marik into the MORTAL realm", not divine realm.

>>43954606
>>4396775
Also, are we considering the lizardmen created by Ura and Marik canon, and if so, where would that go in the timeline? I think it might be possible to relate those to the Reptilians that worship Vryoka Mahva Thostra, but they would need to be driven underground at an early enough point to speciate into a thousand species if that's to make sense.
>>
>>43968872
Well not really. Magical mutation can fuck with most timeframe evolution requirements.
Pick a time that makes sense for the tech level required to live there, and that you want them to have, itll be fine.
>>
>>43968872

Ura gave okay, so yeah, their canon

Their just a peaceful race of Lizard men that hoard gold and read books.
As for when they were created? Eh, I'll say the Era of the Rune

Marik isn't one for conflict. Other Gods fight each other, he just takes notes. When he does fight other Gods, its a battle of wits, and usually ends with the two of them getting a drink at the Bar of Gods
>>
>>43968808
Well, they can't form new memories in the sense that they're like a computer with its hard drive filled full of their former life. Presumably the RAM is still sufficient for them to face immediate threats, and their mage abilities would probably include some kind of magical sense that prevents them from losing track of you just by turning around.

Also, there's a lot of them. And if they manage to drag you down, you become one of them, which some might consider a fate worse than death. It depends on your definition of consciousness, though.

They're kind of like your classic horror movie slow zombies in a way, if the zombies were also half dry lich. They're not too threatening if you go about killing them in an intelligent, organized, and well prepared manner, but if you're not careful, a single bite (metaphorically speaking, you won't turn into a Sandman if one bites you, only if they drag you off and do horrible rituals on you) and you're done. Just jumping into a horde of them, swords swinging and guns blazing, would be suicide.
>>
>>43969056
It was more an implication for a god to go have some fun, rather than a mortal.
Mortals going there is just asking for suicide.
>>
>>43969081
I wouldn't be surprised if Nimhe found out about them and decided to put in something insidious in the next batch of them.
>>
>>43969015

When does Marik go mad?

Current time he clearly is bonkers, having read way too much about the fabric of the Universe.

Long time ago, he was smart god of Knowledge (with no rivalry with Sromye, god of _organized_ knowledge) but then something went wrong. He read too much stuff... Perhaps Zalkum gave him too much to read one night?

Anyway, when his sanity finally breaks? Thematically it would be cool if it would have been going on during Rebellion against Sirach, but final tipping off happens later.

Does he corrupt himself or does Barak Tuth or Zalkum help?

Hmmm.. Barak Tuth himself ascended using dark rituals.. Did he get this knowledge from Marik OR did he break Mariks sanity to get this ritual? Given his domain of torture, it could have been bad time for Marik.
>>
>>43969081
A sufficiently powerful mortal would probably have relatively few problems with the Sandmen. Their form is made of sand, after all. It's held together with magic, but sufficiently great force is enough to destroy them and it takes anywhere from a few hours to months to possibly years for them to reform properly, depending on how powerful of a mage they were and how much they got scattered by the killing blow. They can use magic, but the majority of them would be basic acolyte level mages, the really strong ones are few and far between and wouldn't be encountered unless you wander really deep into their territory.

They were really meant to be more pitiful than threatening when I thought of them. The awfulness of being stuck as one is really the most horrifying part. If you define consciousness as something related purely to the physical body, it's pretty much the worst thing possible.
>>
>>43969315
They would immediatly become the subject of experiment to see how much connection there was between the mind and the spirit.
i.e. they can still think, even if not form memorys, but can they still feel without a soul? To what extent is the spark of life necessery? etc etc.

I do belive some kind of order would set up just to find out. Because !SCIENCE!
>>
>>43969249
I think we need to make a more stable time line before we can say when Marik went nuts.
>>
>>43969372
Sounds like a worthwhile pursuit for any rogue mage or mad scientist, definitely. The various religions probably wouldn't approve of it though. Not only is messing with the soul treading dangerously close to necromancy, but also dangerously similar to what the Arch-Mages turned Sandmen were trying to do in the first place: play God.
>>
>>43969496
In this case it'd be a matter of examining the differences between a soul owner and a sandman, itd not draw any direct ire, just resentment. Well until they do something stupid like make one themselves.

Though, it is a thought for someplace to just dump prisoners if you kindgom is assholes.

>>43969463

Putting things into chronological order creates the more stable timeline :D

Purposed was post-Sirachs fall during the age of Fire, before Barak Tuths rituals. Whole insanity could use detailing, as well. Did the relationship with Ura destabilize him?
And when that happened?, pre-Rebellion of course but perhaps during Era of Rune, in the mists of pre-civilized time?
>>
>>43970463
Well according to >>43962100, Sirach explicitly ordered that Nimhe was never to be represented in image form, hence no one knows what he's supposed to look like. What with him getting overthrown though, that particular bit might be out the window.
>>
>>43970514

> Maxira, The Oncoming Storm; The First Chronomancer.
>> Rank: Other

Maxira was but a callow youth in a prestigious college of artistic endeavors when she discovered she was unlike other people. She had a power, a power unknown to thaumaturgy. The power over time itself.
This power was, mind you, not absolute; she quickly discovered that she was limited, and could only rewind a few minutes' time at most, but that was enough. Her first action was to save the life of another youth on the campus from being stabbed by an enraged classmate. When that student turned out to be her childhood best friend, she embarked on a weeklong quest, doing battle with jealous students, upset parents, and a serial murderer, all the while using her powers freely. Along the way, she saved a few lives, and discovered two that; if she focused hard enough, if she needed it to happen badly enough, she could actually freeze time, yet move normally, at the risk of "burning out" temporarily.

What transpired over the next mere week took like what felt like years to Maxira, but she was bouyed by the sudden return of her friend Corle to her life, even as the world seemed to go mad around them, a madness of conspiracy, suspicion, and ill-omens that the most learned magi were helpless to explain, culminating with a freak, impossibly powerful storm, and at the end, Maxira was given a choice: allow Corle to die the death she had prevented in the first place... Or watch her home and most of everyone living there be destroyed. (cont. Yes, this is not exactly 100% freshly original, but I'm working on it.)

A more sadistic choice has never been laid before a young woman in command of powers she could barely wield, let alone comprehend, and hopefully never will be again, but in the heat of the moment, Maxira came to a revelation that both shoot her to her core, and filled her with undying purpose. Clinging tightly to Corle, she refused to give up the girl who mattered most to her, no matter the cost.

After the storm had passed, with fate apparently satisfied with the price paid, Maxira and Corle left. Shaken to the core, but joined by a bond forged in hellish ordeal and childhood innocence, they struck out, resettling, and taking up new residences in a new city, attending an arcane college. Maxira attempted to refrain from using her powers, but with the power to casually undue any clumsy mistake or conversational misstep, avoiding use altogether was hard. They studied magic, attempting to learn to understand what Maxira was capable of, but finding the literature seemingly devoid of much helpful information on the topic.

Eventually, crisis hit again, and Maxira was forced to rely heavily on her ability to play back time, causing greater havoc and ill omens, but she and Corle successfully averted outright disaster, whilst still managing to do quite a lot of good with Maxira's abilities. As they grew, it became clear that, to some extent, the same qualities that made a good mage - willpower, focus, concentration - aided Maxira in using the power she had been granted.

It was then that the first attempt on Maxira's life due to her power was made, and ironically, but perhaps predictably, the acts of side-stepping assassins hell-bent on destroying her before she caused a disaster threatened the very disaster they sought to avert. Only when they decided to go after Corle for leverage, however, did Maxira let loose without regard for consequence, and a large town was engulfed in flame as a result. (cont.)
>>
>>43972144
It was then that, in the privacy of her own mind, Maxira came to a frightening realization: Corle meant more to her than anything else. She would watch the world burn to save her love, and Corle realized it, too. She would have burnt the world to protect Maxira, in truth.

The two began to travel, to wander, not remaining settled in one place for too long. Maxira and Corle sought to learn more about her powers, but they discovered, obliquely, that those who develed too deeply into the secrets of temporal tampering - which had, thus far, always taken the forms of elaborate rituals or arcane artifacts, never spells which could be simply cast, or direct, spontaneous manipulation the way Maxira did - tended to meet grisly ends, so they knew they would be required to remain cautious. Fortunately, as Maxira's arcane prowess grew, her control over her powers - and more importantly, the stability to use them more liberally without triggering catastrophe - grew.

Yet there was a problem. The pair were aging, and what good was having prevented an enraged man from stabbing Corle if time itself, ironically, would simply finish the job left undone? For help in this, the duo sought out a woman - a girl, really - walking the lands, a young girl far older than either of them, who carried a staff topped with a skull.

From the First Necromancer, the duo learned of the power over life energy itself. Raising skeletons and animating dead flesh was abhorrent to the pair, but directly manipulating life-force was fascinating to them. Many had tried, but other than Tani herself, however, none had succeeded in remaining youthful and ageless, barring those who were already Elves and thus had those qualities innately.

(cont.)
>>
>>43972304
But Maxira found a way. Using magic to cause something to age rapidly was simple; using her powers, and taking a large risk, to invert that effect, Maxira managed to not only halt the flow of time in Corle and herself, but reverse it, causing the pair to reinvigorate, to youthen, becoming as they were when they had first reunited.

Thusly reinvigorated, the tale of the duo stretched long, a litany of lives lived, or places dwelled within, of lives they brightened, of wrongs righted, of innocents shielded and victimizers brought low, usually subtly, occasionally overtly. Their powers grew, unchecked by the limits of a mortal lifespan, but in her act of combining her chronomancy with necromancy, Maxira had inadvertently made that a Thing that Can Be Done with necromancy, allowing other, more malevolent necromancers, to perform the same feat, even without any knowledge of chronomancy at all.

As they lived on, they began to appear in records, and suspicious organizations began to track them. Eventually, more assassins came, and were defeated. The duo grew more cautious, but also more proactive, beginning to erase records in which they appeared. All the while, they attempt to live life as good people, to help those who deserve it, to protect those who need it, but ultimately their final devotion is to one another. Woe betide those who press Maxira and Corle into a corner, for only when cornered like animals will the true power of the Oncoming Storm be revealed; and will the consequences of pushing them so.

One curious facet of Maxira's powers is that no divinity, regardless of elevation, can perceive or interfere with them. Exactly why this is is unknown, but partly for this reason, the duo have avoided coming to the attention of TOO powerful individuals, for now. Well, discounting the fact that they've run across the avatars of a few of the gods on the mortal plane, even having aided them a few times, without said avatars realizing what they were doing.

>>43972304
I'm sorry, but going to be honest, it feels kind of snowflakey.

She's a girl will a special power who is really strong and her powers cause bad things to happen except they don't and she's constantly chased because of her power and both her and her friend live forever because they met the First Necromancer and they do necromancy without the icky stuff and not even the gods can mess with her power.
It's certainly not as bad as it could be, but it's still got problems.
>>
>>43972447
I would not say it is bad. It is not, in fact. But I feel like two things were left without explanation while they should have seen one:the origin of Maxira's power, and why the gods can not perceive them. The latter especially needs to be answered.
>>
>>43972720
Why would you necessarily assume all necromancy is inherently icky? It just tends to piss Ballan Sur off because it screws with his cycles.
>>
>>43972720
Shhh. let him finish.
Every setting needs its trash romance novels.
And i mean that in a: I actually want to read it way.
Which i find weird.
>>
>>43972720
And let's be honest where is the fun in necromancy if you leave the icky stuff out.
>>
>>43972759
There are still too many things that are left unexplained, the necromancy bit is the less important one.
>>
>>43972759
Because its necromancy.
Enslaving souls (preventing them from going to heaven or reincarnating) and sticking them into rotting corpses kind of deal.
Its pretty sociopathic man, but it fits the character so its pretty much the least important bit.
>>
>>43972447
Needless to say, Maxira and Corle very much work to prevent any divinity from becoming aware of what they do, and how not even the divines are able to carry their memories from one of Maxira's do-overs to the next. If they knew, of course, that a mere mortal could temporarily reverse the flow of time, could roll things back to play them out again, how they'd react is a question unlikely to have a comforting answer.

And thus, to this day, they continue to roam the world, laying as low as they can, bearing a weight of guilt which is incredible, and at least partly undeserved, but devoted to one another. Despite her power, Maxira is notably humble, quiet and soft-spoken, introverted, but her legacy can be found in a litany of inexplicable ill omens and freak, devastatingly destructive storms, and works of art which hang everywhere from shepherd's cottages to the finest museums, most of them long forgotten by their creator, attributed to other artists or unattributed. She doesn't care; it's the act of creating that she likes, almost as much as she likes helping people, and almost as much as she likes being with Corle.
>>
Now, I had a really neat idea.
But it is also very late and the scribe has enough work as of now. So I will wait tomorrow, try not to make this thing die anons, it is like the only good thread on /tg/.

The Nazzar are a reptilian race, averaging at 6 feet in height and have a large number scale colors.

They are a Oviparity race with that ability to breath underwater and have been noted to be quite sneaky.
The Nazzar people are a trade based people. Gold more weight than anything else on their Island. This is because of their Mother Godess, Ura.
The Nazzar are notorious for the pirate fleet said to guard their island from hostile force.

A small group of Nazzar take after their father God, Marik, and have taken up the Quest for Knowledge, and can be found all across Salaida, in search of information and lore.
