Looking for good starter pic.
Still figuring out house name wasn't expecting that to crop out so soon...fucking crit chain.

Anyway last time you found out your uncle died childles and you inherited a lot of his shit. Turned out he died in some nowhere village killing a vampire that ended with him, the priest, and the vampire burned to death inside the down burnt down church. There you found out that your uncle had some interesting secrets he was looking into and had some serious treasures. After enjoying the best wine you ever had and hugged it out with the local innkeeper you got a mission from the village elder to seek aid from the local noble lady. On the way there you stumbled upon a funny couple who got pranked by Fey. When you got to the Lady's place you were suppose to meet her the following morning but do you to choosing not to sleep and going to the courtyard to pay your respects you unexpectedly ran into her and left one HELL of an impression on after listening to her conversation with one of her people while getting a new job in the process.

You still don't know what the job entailed and you got threatened by one of her Knight's should you do anything to harm her. Now your trying to figure out what to do after escaping the local graveyard whose dead turned out to not sleep so easy.

You'll see...just so depressed. I swear if I could tell you the behind the scenes stuff with her and how its turned out you'll understand why the Genie is depressed about it.

You decide to go to bed. You nearly got lost at first and literally right when you were about to admit you somehow found yourself standing before your room. So you entered and it promptly undressed before falling upon it and snoring happily.

Meanwhile the door was slowly opened after awhile and a figure appeared inside the room. Watching as you slept for a time before slinking away in the late night. Just as...things started to appear in the villa, but that mattered not in the end.

Eventually the next morning you awaken and on the stand is a letter. Which you assume is for grabbing the priest you need.

seriously though dere is a metric fuckton of spirits and their power levels can fluctuate wildly.

This DOES mean you have access to the widest range of stuff...but the power of it sadly will also be of the widest range. So...guess its up to luck then yes?

>>43995742
You decide to go out and have breakfast. You soon find your companions and 'those two' as you refer to them as mentally. The breakfast was rather plain mixture of blackbread, scrambled eggs, and bacon wrapped veggies with fruit juice. Those bacon wrapped veggies in particular were quite tasty...dat crunch, the grease, and the crisp veggies. Very nice.

After that you were called over to see the Lady in study. There you once again went over what the town needed...and where the lady handed you an insignia while desperately trying not to blush before speaking of what your job is and what help will be offered.

"A priest will be sent to you that you can pick up on the way out. As for the matter of wards the two whom you travelled here with will go with you to your home and go over the wards. From there they will make a circuit through all my lands doing the same thing."

"As for matter of additional aid...I will be sending some additional troops to go with as escort and who will work on random tasks to help with your village. This will for instance mean restoring structures, rebuilding things, training, and so on. They will help out while the warders do their thing and offer some aid meanwhile. I am afraid that is all I can do for you..."

While they were relieved they were clearly hoping for a bit more, but hey at least they got something.

"Luckily for you all however," she continued now looking at you. "I have acquired the services of Jake here who is a student of leadership affairs and is knowledgeable. As he naturally lives over there I will be handing control of the village to him to do with as he see fits."
>>
Rolled 5 (1d100)

>>44004793
"That shall serve to prove your management capabilities. In addition to that i will also be expecting your services as my expeditionary team leader that I will be scraping together. Your tasks and duties in such a capacity will vary as I see fit. Your first task in such a capacity will be delivery...this," she hands you a peculiarly carved stick that upon taking a closer look you realize is actually bone. "To the tribes living in the mountains near your village. The troops I can spare to go with you however...is most few. In exchange of course they will not be no ordinary troops," she claimed unable to look at you as she turns away to face the window.

"Outside there will be a Knight to show you the way to them. While they wont be many I can assure you they are among the finest i can provide."

With that you were dismissed and sure enough outside stood a knight waiting for. Yet another one with whom you are unfamiliar with you looks at you and simply states they are being gathered but on such short notice will be with you in soon time. After that he follows you to get the priest you were promised.

You find out he is one of the few Knight's in her service and goes by Sir Kenneth.

So soon enough you find yourself that priest...or priests in this case an actual 'freshly graduated' team of two. Unlike those other two...these two do not fight constantly. While the silence is nice its not nearly as entertaining and their skill is frankly speaking rather lacking.

But hey what do you expect for a two for one deal? Not to mention its not like they were gonna waste one of their good ones for such a task unless they really managed to piss someone off. Too bad that hadn't happened recently.

...ah yet more lists.

These are the stores:

>Butcher
Enough meat flows through here to warrant a professional butchery.
>General Store
For basic goods everyone needs. There are several here.
>Farmer's Market
Goodies you can find from nearby farms. Only large scale operation in her lands
>Bakery
Self explantory as the butchers.
>Blacksmith's
Several ordinary blacksmiths but there is a weaponsmith and armorsmith as well. No specialized smiths are around for things like silver or gold though.
>Medicine Shop
For medicines that don't require magic and are often cheaper for it too unless you want something special.
>Magic Shop
Scrolls, Spells, Wands, Staffs, and all magical goodies here for you!
>Tailor
Clothes and more clothes.

Looking around you have noted some helpful things all around and stuff of particular note in each store.

Tailor has access to spider silk and unusual dye.
Butcher offers magical beast flesh and hide.
General store has a place where unidentified objects are sold for cheap and offers basic supplies.
Farmer's market as some good seed and beast stock.
Bakery has interesting pastries and a mixed grain bread.
Blacksmith despite the town's size strangely somehow has both a pro weaponsmith and armorsmith who both happen to be a dwarven couple.
The medicine shop offers special medicines that can boost the body and brain performance.
Magic shop has a collection of necromantic and blood magic items.

Then there is the more mundane stuff should you be interested...but those were the potentially useful peculiar stuff you noticed while checking out all the stores.

Hmm, how many bullets do we have for our Alchemist Revolver?

How hard is it to get enchanted ammunition?
>>
Rolled 77 (1d100)

>>44006209
You'll need to find an alchemist shop to get basic ammo and enchanted ammo is especially rare/expensive. Most magi would rather just make a wand or staff instead of creating single use bullets that require an annoying contraption to make function.

For ammo you have 36 enchanted bullets and 360 alchemical bullets.

So blessed Metal?

Bit pricey as is the salt.

Faren doesn't have much to say while Oze is busy looking longingly at the dwarf made arms and armor. Chits though mentions acquiring undead bane items...problem is those sorta things are the most expensive of all due to the high and constant need. No one could ever get enough of it in these lands.

We probably are going to need to arm a basic militia in our village against the undead.

We should get our village some basic rifles for huntsmen and stuff. So we can have whatever troops Ezra gives us train the villagers to defend themselves.

Also, as for us, we should get some firepower that doesn't require alchemist/enchanted ammo. Any chance we can get something like a Dwarven Repeater Gun?

How much for those?

>>
Rolled 52 (1d100)

>>44006779
Guns are very expensive and seen to be the domain of alchemists who are their biggest fan. Alchemists are the ones who produce the ammo for guns. Magi much more rarely and costly. Guns are pretty good for piercing through basic and more common armors but the more advanced stuff can easily stop them unless you start getting especially fancy.

because of that crit...there is indeed a repeating rifle available. A single piece.

100,100 gold.

Its a dwarf alchemist repeating rifle. Its ammo is especially tricky due to the repeating mechanism.

----
Due to the recent religious groups fighting the price has dropped for blessed metal to a whomping single gold piece per a bar blessing.

Mostly a small group of heavily armed and armored soldiers with a notable knight and mage along with a strange scout whom you missed until the Knight pointed him out. Guy is good.

After that you headed back to the village. The journey was entirely uneventful this time and on the way there you met up with those two and some additional dispatched soldiers. Unlike yours though they are not nearly so heavily armored or mysterious. The guys under your command truly are peculiar...they even all volunteered to go on watch and never really seem to ever get tired or complain.

-----
You proceed to find Helga. Which turns out to be following a path in the haunted woods at the entrance of which is a sign that says DO NOT STEP OFF THE PATHWAY. Following down the path and trying to ignore the spooky, creepy, scary woods that surround you eventually you find Helga's clearing in the woods where a pool is with a waterfall and stream. In the gathering you could also see a cabin, cave, and garden. As you approached half suspecting to see a preferably nubile, attract, young witch bathing in the waterfall.

Unfortunately that was not to be so as a sign at the door stated she would be gone for a bit but return shortly. Realizing you were gonna have to wait and recalling your past fantasy you realize that you hadn't had a bath in quite some time...so naturally decided to bathe real quick before her return.

You must admit the waterfall was a GREAT fucking idea in bathing under. It wasn't long before you crept out and went towards your clothes but turning around the tree you saw a very startled witch holding a basket with dear in the headlight eyes as they became big trembling and watery rabbit eyes as her eyes wandered...

You couldn't help but cough and decide to press the advantage while she was in shock.

"Helga correct? I am here about the gathering what you need and preferably your aid in regards to the nearby mountains. Oh sorry about the mess...decide to take a quick bath before you came back."

"...th-then why are you not dressed yet," she bubbles out while blushing madly.

"Well you see Helga considering you've already seen it its not like covering it up will make much a difference you know?"

"...S-So that is -w-wh-why your still nude before me?"

"Well I COULD get dressed but you still have that naked image of me seared into your mind anyway. At least this way you'll enjoy some more eye candy."

"Then what do you get," asks the witch as she finally manages to put down her stuttering but still a bit bubbly and very much blushing.

"What I get is the pleasure to know a pretty woman is admiring my body. What more could a man ask for?"

At that point she pretty much goes into another stuttering fit as you finally get dressed. She never did stop blushing and eventually gave up trying to talk due to such intense stuttering then proceeded to pout adorably.

You SO need to remember to thank the demonic gun gal for these ideas and the talk you had on the road. They really are pure fucking gold. She really did know her way around seducing women...just as you were thinking that and imagining her you could see an image of her stuffing the little witches face between her nice tits...

it was good picture. You appreciated that bit of random yet inspiring imagination very much. Up to the point where you heard her talking.

"AWW ITS YOU GOT SO FUCKING ADORABLE AS YOU GOT OLDER!"

"PFFSHFH," fails the witch at speaking as she smashed into her tits. Up to the point where you see a fucking blur of one of her legs dives straight for the gun gal's crotch.

and suddenly she was released as the demon's face turned a surprising shade of deep purple then blue as she proceeds to fall to her knees and holding both her crotch as well as stomach before croaking out "nice shot".

"How the hell did you find me Guhneafi!"

"Hah...stuttering is fixed and can't believe you hit a pregnant one...I thought...you were suppose to be the good one in the family," somehow despite her crippling pain she still sends you a thumbs up. Guess she witnessed what happened or at least a part of it.

"Oh right, weird family I almost forgot that."

"Comes with having a witch for a mother and necromancer for a father. Isn't gonna be NEARLY as weird as the family your starting."

"...wait I'M ACTUALLY PREGNANT?"

"Yup oh and I call dibs on godmother!"

"FUCK...why couldn't i have gotten knocked up by a nice tricky trap or something instead of...of...a manly man who asks like SUCH A-A LITTLE FUCKING GIRL."

"PFFT," starts up the witch as she tries to contain her laughter. She ends up failing and starts cracking up.

"WHAT'S SO FUNNY?"

"I uh just lost a bet is all."

"Bet?"

"Yeah to see if you would get knocked up by a skilled trap, a raped gay man, a confused man, or man with girly tendencies. We had a whole betting pool and everything."

"Fuck. please don't tell me the one who made the girly tendency bet was his sister."

"Afraid so."

At this point demon girl was tearing up as the witch picked her up and took her inside trying to console her.

"Its okay...its okay to lose against the perverted matching making sister who was shipping the two of you for ages was right in the end. Sure you'll be stuck carrying his child and have to be reminded of it for the rest of your life...sure she always rub it in with how right she was you two hateful fucks would end up bumping genitals together as well as the immense satisfaction she'll get in when the resulting fruits." This so called consoling only resulted in her crying even harder. Right when you were feeling rather awkward the witch looked at you blushing and with a flick of the wrist sent a list of stuff she wants, book containing detailed info on said stuff and a map of the mountains before the door closed.

So guys, how do you feel we should be combat-wise?

I'm feeling a build akin to the Witch Hunter from Vermintide, but with a little bit more stealth/rogue type stuff.

We have noble sabre training, and a slight leaning towards pistols and firearms, combined with some of our shadow and stealth gear and the silent bow we know how to kill quietly but also dish out some damage when threatened.

I'd also like us to book up on some alchemy and enchanting for more potent ammunition

You go to the Inn for breakfast and find the place to be rather fool. According to the Cook all the rooms are taken even the one normally reserved for Chits(luckily for Chits though he is out in the haunted woods). The place was rather crowded by hungry soldiers who appear to be getting ready for the day. You had to squeeze your way to the counter where you found a very depressed Guhneafi staring at a glass...who then looked at the innkeeper with hopeful eyes.

He didn't buy it and simply stated "Witches orders missy no drinking for you."

"OH COME ON I CAN PAY!"

"...Not worth pissing off the witch lady."

"AHhh ITS ALL YOUR FAULT," she proceeds to take it out on the manly man who was actually surprisingly girlish.

"Ah innkeeper i would like a big breakfast with some traveling food. Might be gone for some time due to the job from the lady."

"Coming right up...hm think I got some stuff that will serve as good hardtack down below. I'll go check put it together."

The place was indeed very busy and it took some time before you got your food. At least while you were waiting you had some fine drinks and when you finished there was a large packet of travel rations waiting for you.

"Next time I suggest not coming around when the troops are here. They are bedding and eating here apparently. Best choose your timing better next time kid."

Plus side the food was amazing, the drink good, and the provided traveling food was high quality. You honestly didn't mind the waiting especially given it wasn't too long. Gotta hand it to his adopted daughter she can be quite fast.

Your attempts to find Faren were successful. You found him under the tree near his house enjoying himself in the shade with his wife. Oddly his equipment seems to have changed as now he had a shield, sword, bow, arrows, and quite the large sized sack.

Guhneafi wasn't interested apparently she is busy working and her partner has other tasks to attend to here. Chits is in the woods still.

He was right but he underestimated how strong they are. His wife is a nice middle aged woman who goes by Nancy. She is actually the village midwife. If what she knows doesn't work you'll either need the help of Faren's herbalist wife or the witch's help.

What's the safest way to get a proper Gem Appraisal and selling them?

Generally, bringing around a bag full of gigantic wealth is a bad idea because someone could rob you or your house when you leave (or next time you show up).

Appraisers particularly those who specialize in gems. Jewelers would also have a pretty good idea of worth.

Many stores(particularly the especially expensive) will accept gems as form of payment once they price check it. Its a pain to haul so much coin everywhere without magical space but the coins will still take up a lot of room.

Then go back to Garz. Tell him we advise the setting up of a proper "Dojo" where Oze can train the kids, as well as giving some supplies for Nancy to set up an herbal garden.

I think they will do much better here helping the village.

Then
>Go to Town with the Party
Go to Town and bring a few gems, though not all of them. Try and pick the one that looked like 100k. Get them certified by their price as well as written receipts, so when we use them to buy they are worth their coin (and we don't get ripped off).

"My homeland is largely made up of mighty empires who fight each other off and on occasionally. Every once in a while a horde of barbarians will come down and sweep through like a plague of locusts on a farmer's fields."

Nancy was apparently the previous shop owner's daughter as his son and her brother has since taken over the operation. Back then she was traveling with some of her siblings and she ran into her future husband when they went across the sea.

"Hm...You'll have to ask Oze about that. Ever since his disciple fucked his daughter and he caught them in bed together they ran off. He hasn't really put himself into it as much as he used to. Granted he still drills the children but not much more then that."

"Seeing the boy he saw as a son with his daughter...it was a bit of a shock to say the least. Considering how those two fought since they were kids you would of figured they would of ended killing each other instead of fucking. Since then the boy joined the army...as for the girl i don't really know. think I heard she got into some sect or maybe temple?"

"All the wives maintain their own gardens to provide for their household to a degree. Its only Faren's wife who got so extreme and skilled with it. Still don't know how that woman managed to grow an entire damned orchard already..."

We and the Scout are going to blend into the shadows and try to outflank them. We have the Shadow Scaled Vestments, which can conceal us from magic and sight, so we'll go to kill the mage with our Dagger of Darkness. The Scout will try to kill the Sniper.

You don't want to know anon. Suffice it to say it depends upon the ruling vampire and the number of vampiric generations born. In general full of art, defenses, and some very very nasty surprises.

Befriend a vampire and you just might be able to find out. Yes you can befriend a vampire difficult but possible...you know because of the whole predator and prey dynamic.

>>44029409
Our infantry soon smash into the undead ranks problem is they are heavily outnumbered. Strangely though this does not seem to be much of a problem as they stand firm and start swinging. Snapping bones, bashing, and cutting through rotting bloodless flesh. The knight for his part also advances and proceeds to issue a challenge to the enemy knight. After that they proceed to start dueling.

Our sniper and mage unfortunately have a bit less luck. Mostly because the vampire mage is crackling with a blood charge boost her power and one sniper against many...well frankly speaking you have no idea how your sniper is still alive as it gets turned into a pin cushion. Much less is actually able to pick off a few of the enemy snipers. The only in trouble seems to be the mage who despite fighting a fucking vampire blood mage who is high on blood is actually managing to stand his ground.

...fucking hell the lady wasn't kidding when she mentioned the quality. Despite the short notice of it she was STILL able to put this group together. You can't help but be filled up with a morbid curiosity of what would of happened if she only had more time...

Those thoughts filled your head as you and the strange scout blended into the shadows to proceed to outflank them. Just as the Scout proceeds to flank the snipers giving them a nasty surprise. So you attempt to sneak up on the mage while not getting blasted by magic. Luckily the spells avoided you and the vampire who was high on blood backfired on her as you stabbed the dagger into her. Causing her to shriek in rage as she finally catches your scent.

We still have the dark vestments that covers magic, so get back in those fucking shadows and stay there, maybe shoot silent arrows from the shadows to bother her.

Then while she is distracted by us and sniper distracted by our scout, Mage and Sniper focus on the mage.

The rest keep on slugging it in melee.

You...suddenly realized how bad of an idea it was to pick a fight with a vampire. Solo. SOO natural you proceeded to run like hell.

You ran like a prey who suddenly realizes its predator was right there before it looking at with starving eye. You ran as if the goddamn devil himself was right on your ass. You ran like a damned soul trying to run from hell.

In fact even your team also ran away with you...but strangely enough the undead did not bother to pursue. Even the vampires themselves as they disengage.

After running like hell for a while and finally slowing down it turned out you ran towards where you wanted to go. Even more oddly while your forces were certainly beaten to shit you didn't lose anyone.

Well you sorta DID lose that darkness dagger. Good thing your uncle made sure to have spares.

You swear that jolly old fat fuck knew somehow knew this would happen. Even included having a map of your rough area and where sanctuary against the dead could be found.

Its as if he could see into the future...

The safe place was as you made out deep in the forest, in a secluded mountain valley, deep in its depths you ran into a clearing at the end of which was a small spring. What was strange was that has you got closer the pervading energies grew so heavy even you sensed it. It reached the point where even the soldiers started to sweat and the knight gulped. When you went into the clearing though you heard a gasp from two people. Turning around you saw the bulging eyes of both the mage and guide as they looked upon the spring while gulping for air wildly.

The mage was the one who revealed what it was.

"It...its a spirit spring! No wonder the dead avoid this place."

"Spirit spring?"

"Sometimes holes appear in our world and sometimes those holes lead to another. A spirit spring is a leak from the spirit world into ours," explains the mage. "The spirit essence is extremely thick here and its waters are that of liquefied spirits! Its value is incredible assuming that is you can get away with taking some...very few are allowed to take from the spirit spring. At best you can be in the vicinity. There is dangers in being here because the spirit essences is so strong its much easier to attract spirits and strengthening them. They may not entirely friendly...if you have anything spiritual to practice now would be the time."

Strange to think that those soldiers faced fucking vampires and undead who heavily outnumbered without being phased but somehow this place makes them trembling wrecks.

You attempt to meditate in this area...but for some reason you just can't. So when you gave up and started to practice something else along side the soldiers who apparently started to practice to work out their shudders or meditated. You went to join them...

The mage, knight, and guide meanwhile did meditate successfully. Apparently being fully intent to take advantage of this chance.

Right when you started to practice though you heard a strange giggle and a voice.

"Giving up already student?"

The voice just HAPPENED to be right at the precisely correct moment to fuck you up during practice and got hit really hard by a soldier knocking you out as darkness approached you heard the voice again.

"AH thats right students are suppose to be taught!"

----
There you found yourself in a strange misty place full of shadowy trees and flickering light where those three meditating are. When you look over at the dead you are shocked to see past their clouded armors to reveal a rotted form with flickering lights in their eyes/brain and glowing bones.

Right when you were curious about what you yourself looked like you suddenly heard a splash as something leaped out the pool. Looking over you could see a mancan't tell you how happy I am about that. The man meanwhile beckons you to the pool.

"Tell me what do you think your spirit is hm? What shape will your soul take?"

With that he grabs you and tosses you in.

The last thing you could hear was the giggling voice which spoke "Unlike you he does not appreciate a player."

With a silent splash you found yourself surrounded by the strange liquid and felt a shudder within your very soul...as it pushed to come out. It hurt so fucking bad you thought it would kill you or even shatter your soul. Somehow it didn't though.

Somehow it pushed through successfully.

What you saw was yourself. That self of yours then charged at you and vanished. Next thing yah knew you were outside the pool once more.

"Oh...seems like you weren't quite ready yet. On the plus side you got lucky and your soul got shocked. Kinda funny that is what happened instead. Most of the time it deals with spirits and not one's soul directly. Your clearly fit for soul reliant skills now though. Have fun training it-oh wait right right...student still. Naughty me for forgetting! I'm BORRR-"

"WHAT?"

"I'm bored. Teach this guy for me."

"...Why would I want to teach him for you! I don't even like the guy."

"Precisely why you should teach him! Besides my stuff is spiritual not that soulless crap you use."

"Really? Besides I am not a soulless."

"Yeah but you don't have a heart now do you?"

"Fair enough. Listen kid I am not gonna bother to teach you besides a basic meditation and infusion skill that you would appear to have a knack for. Infusion is usually a bitch and half but your lucky you it should be easy for you."

"First off with the meditation whose purpose it is so still the body and rest the mind but train the soul. This will be your bread and butter you should always be on the look out for finding a better one that is a better fit for you. First off you need to..."

"Now this infusion type skill is gonna be your go to thing for awhile. Normally this type of thing is advanced and a nightmare to learn first. You however got lucky and a knack for it. What is gonna to happen is when you infuse the soul it will power up the rest of your body making you tougher, stronger, faster so on. You when your advanced enough can EVEN use it to infuse things outside your body! Now you first start with that familiar shudder and twitch right? From there you what you need to do is...

Soul Skill Scroll of Trance Soul Pooling: It contains the teachings of increasing soul growth.
Soul Skill Scroll of Soul Materialization Infusion: Contains the infusing of soul into objects or even yourself.

You do your best to find some flowers but...there are no flowers to be found. You searched so much you actually ended up running late to the villa. When you went to see her you could see a knight holding some flowers...you gave him a look.

"Gardens," was his reply.

Fuuck why didn't you think to PICK some goddamn flowers instead. Soon the lady appeared accept the flowers from the Knight before sitting down and looking at you.

"...No flowers for the pretty lady?" Taunted the Knight looking at your disheartened expression.

"Could of at least told me jackass."

That was when the lady spoke up.

"About time you have arrived I DO hope that despite your late nature you have the package?"

That you do as you bring it out.

"...Good can't believe you took so long I would of been much better of sending someone else instead."

"Then why didn't you," asked the Knight with a snort.

"...to see if he had potential," coughed up the lady with a slight blush.

You could feel the Knight's burning eyes burrowing their way into your very soul.

"I could understand that with the...possible village my lady, but to assign such valued soldiers to him? Both things? One can't help but wonder."

"That is of MY concern as baroness," she harshly replies shutting him down. "He DOES have a point though. I gave you management of the village to test your abilities especially given your potential nobility claim. I figured it would of helped you. Normally I would have more to say...but I had gotten the reports from the others. So I will...forgive this transgression considering the benefits and despite the great delay."

"Gonna give him another job lady? His duties are rather split up especially as a student..."

Huh why is he standing up for you now?

"First you go to giving him a hard time and now your defending him? Really now, why not just make up your mind about him? Still you have a point..."

"Fine Sir Flowers you have a point."

Ah so that's his name...should of seen that given how he was dressed. So many damned flowers...

"Luckily near the village is some resources i would like to exploit and given i was finally able to arrange some proper troops...that i am now loathed to put under you given your current record and my earlier foolishness."

"Changing your mind now Baroness?"

She gives him an evil glare before continuing on.

"There is lumber reserves, minerals, and waterway yes? Great potential. My order is to get the old lumberyard near the village up and running again. I will...try to get some mineral surveyors but no promises. Those earthy types are fiendishly expensive even when failure is likely. Besides that you may wish to expand closer to the river. Get some docks and fishing going...would be much easier for to move troops and resources. Alas when that old lumberyard went to hell so too did that."

"...Didn't help that the town further down fell outside our control and it promptly collapsed. Lost an entire damned garrison too," grumbled Sir Flowers.

"Yes, yes i know we need to work on that but the only options besides those flooded lowlands is either haunted lands or those belonging to our neighbor..."

"But those marshes are so damnably cursed even the dead stay away from them," mentions the Knight.

"...Well do YOU have any bright ideas then?"

"I suggest we see ask around, investigate, see if we can get those religions to stop their bickering to take a look. I know ahm..."

"Continue."

"Your father and mother somehow had worked it out with getting those marshes to work would of been a bustling town which is why we put that garrison there."

"Also why they took it from me."

"Aye that is true but it died didn't it? Somehow your parents knew something about that place that made it work somehow."

"So until then you want to poke around at the swamp witches, investigation the cursed floods, and prod the nearby undead?"

"...So you want me to piss all those forces off for what a lost town?"

"A great port in the bay my lady."

"Sure this isn't because of that garrison?"

"Its long lost. I just want to know what did it in. It was near deadlands they should of been able to handle it or very least send a message."

Hey Genie, I'm feeling in the mood for village civ quest, but any chance we can get a /real/ map anytime soon?
>>

...maybe one thing to ask for would be to cut our pay for a month or something to show we are sorry and as a forced discipline. Then ask who she trusts as craftsmen and/or a hirable priest to help the town.
>>
>>44052518
Didn't we already hire two spirit priests?
>>
>>44052578
Those were people we ask to hit us first and then they will move around the land fixing crap. We still don't have a village priest.
>>
Rolled 62 (1d100)

>>44052587
No those two is the gunner and girly manly man.

The two spirit priests are separate.
>>
>>44052587
No, that was the demon and the pansy boy that we caught getting freaky with the fey.

The two priests are now the town priests, or at least that is what I thought.
>>
>>44052602
Shit, my bad. Are those spirit priests staying with us or do we need to pay more?
>>
Rolled 68 (1d100)

>>44052636
The two priests are to stay.

>>44052458
Eventually...I have things 'mostly' figured out in terms of rough area.
>>
>>44052636
I think they are staying at the church, we should visit them make sure they are happy and show them the scrolls we found.

I do agree that we need to get some migrants coming to town, and for that we need industry, we could hire craftsmen but honestly i don't see us building industry here.
Now we could try to encourage farmers to come work for us. Possibly growing grapes for wine we can then get the innkeeper (Faren?) to sell for us.

It makes sense, and helps our friends in the process
>>
Rolled 36 (1d100)

>>44052660
Alright cool. Then we just need workers to help free up the troops helping and have some skilled hands on the task.

>>44052680
Fair. Yet lady Ezra wanted to get the lumberyard near the village up and running again. Plus getting those docks up and running would help trade with the farms. Maybe we can get the mineral surveyors so Ezra doesn't have to.
>>
>>44052722
I'm down to start a lumber program, we are going to need to build new structures soon. We should maybe plan an expidition to the former lumber yard.
>>
>>44052766
Before that expedition I believe we should finish the task for the witch Helga. Don't need more women mad at us.
>>
>>44052789
Agreed, we should embark on that mission asap and I feel like I should check the archive, we did most, but not all of the things the innkeeper needed.
>>
Rolled 42 (1d100)

>>44052887
Garz was the one that gave them.

4 task and 1 treasurer hunt. 1. Gather hunted lumber to hide the town from the dead. 2. Kill monsters in the mountains to keep them away. 3. Help the witch. 4. We asked the lady for help.

1 and 3 are being worked on and killing some monsters can happen once we get healing up and running. Plus troops freed after the hiring of craftsmen.
>>
>>44052789
>>44052887
Hmm, but what about right now for actions. Anything we can ask of the Lady?

You decide to stick around even as the Knight leaves before shooting you an odd look as he noticed you didn't intend to. The Baroness meanwhile invited you to sit and enjoy a meal in her company. As servants came into the office carrying honeyed fruits, some pastries, roasted magical beast wrapped meat, and strange very flowery drink that the Baroness appeared to adore given her expression while drinking it.

...it was oddly good you found as strange restoration effect took place and felt oddly rejuvenated. Clearly no ordinary drink.

Eventually the Baroness leaning back asked what was it you wanted to see in private about.

Exchange small chat, far be it from us to go above our station, but we consider it prudent to get to know our Lady.

In addition, perhaps now is a good time to talk about the realm as a whole. We are but one man over a tiny village and act as occasional messenger, but we would like to know where our Lady's domain fits in the grand scheme of things.

What significant was the bone to be delivered to the tribals?

WAIT!

I have an idea!

Okay, so we still need to go to school right?
And on top of that we have a vilalge to manage right?

Well, as we know, the village has been significantly depopulated what with people moving to the city. But what if we were to incentive immigration into our village? And deal with our schoolwork at once!

I propose we be allowed some student leave, with the express purpose of setting up recruitment drives and housing for our village in the city, to increase our population and labor force. Offer people from the city cheap housing, land opportunities, good wages, and even the homeless and jobless can find work here.

It will help fill in labourers for the mines and lumbercamp too.

>>44063440
Uh, besides taking care of our village and delivering stuff on time not too sure how we can get closer to the lady.

Are you suggesting that we open a wing of the school in our village? because that could be really smart of us, it would bring young people back to the city, and smart, high quality ones at that. It will also create work for the less scholarly, and most importantly be good for Xaz the innkeeper.

Then again these are long term goals, we first need to tackle the lumber mill so that we can have wood and build structures. And before that we need to finish helping the witch before we develop a reputation for tardiness
>>
Rolled 95 (1d100)

>>44063480
I think the idea could work, but if we do this. We need to get the town ready for the new people before and not after. Get some homes ready and what not. Plus >>44063591 what they said. We need to finish the jobs we started before we do new ones.

I will back asking her, but we need to do more work before a goal like that can be done.

Of course, we don't have to go /rightaway/ but we can get permission to do this down the line.

"We are part of the Kingdom of Harlos bordering some Duchies of the Dead. As for my realm...it used to be much larger. Used to have more people as well. Now I've been reduced to a lowly Baroness with barely a few villages and single township to my name. Before that I had a city, towns, and many villages. Obviously I have been reduced to nothing but a fraction of it all. It will however not stay that way. Your village..well there used to be several villages around that area but only the one survived. There used to a be porttown down river, some fishing villages, farming villages, and villages near the forests as well as wilds. Now there is only the one..."

"The tribals survive out in the wild lands. While they are a bunch of barbaric savages their power isn't to be underestimated. many mighty Empires have burned before their onslaught and countless Kingdoms have fallen before them. So long as they keep to their old ways that keep them strong they are very dangerous. Luckily for the civilized lands the savages prefer the wilds which keeps them strong.

As for the bone...that was a message. For you see my mother was actually a tribal and that is from her. I arranged for it to be returned to her people. Its a gesture of goodwill and they returned the favor with the item they gave you. Its a very good sign for it means we can count them as friends and family. Its actually why my father was able to marry my mother despite her supposed lack of status...he just claimed she a tribal version of a noble. Which was...kind of correct albeit stretching the truth quite a bit."

"Student leave would indeed be good for you to take sometime soon. Though considering your skills I would assume your about to graduate yes? I can see why you would wish to go back and finish it or take up a new course of study."

Acquired bag of 500 gold.

Be aware that the average wage is measured by silvers. Copper is pretty much pocket change and gold is a bit more valuable then silver. Silver valued a bit more highly here due to its usefulness against the undead and for healing magics leader to a lower conversation rate into gold. The Churches are actually responsible for minting of silver while the kingdom does the others. Current rates is 5 silver to 1 gold. Most rates in commoner classes is based off silver while for nobility its gold.

Lady no Baroness Ezra explains that she is a daughter of a lord who fell in love with a barbarian woman. Despite what the other lords would say he married her despite her lack of official station. Her mother was actually someone sent by the tribals to help deal with the undead. Of which they often due as the undead is a great enemy and should they take the numbers of civilized folks...so they help out. Her mother was one of those helpers when her father ran into her as she was working. The two of them got along so well despite the risks he decided to marry her and the two together were so formidable that even the Duchies feared them.

...Naturally such a power couple could not be allowed to stand. With the tribal support and the undead on the backfoot they became a bit of a threat. There were also rumors of necromancy...and them working with the undead. Naturally they were made to pay and were slain by heroes who bought the idea of them being corrupted nobles who used foul magics to keep the undead at bay and were planning an invasion of the kingdom by the tribals.

So they were 'stopped' slain and all their hardwork was destroyed. With their sole daughter was only barely spared and forced to clean up the mess while expected to thank those responsible.

You could see the flames of rage in her eyes as she recounts it and the venom of words. They would be made to pay. All of them including those so called heroes.

You got the sudden feeling that the tall woman was much more dangerous then you had thought. You knew she was smart, tall as hell(fucking barbarian blood she makes you feel short), but there was also something more...something very much wicked that laid underneath the troubled nice young lady who was trying to do her best for her people and house.

"Necromancy they claim to evil...even when its just used to talk with the dead and who are they to be offended should the dead decide to listen? Decide to take action?"

"Necromancy is merely a means of discourse between the living and the dead. For that reason its demonized and for its obvious yet natural connects to undeath."

"Its why it was so good at dissuading the dead. To help them rest peacefully in their graves. To make our own sounds overheard over other noises that would otherwise awaken them."

"That is what my mother was guilty of and what my father was guilty for abiding. When those two were together the dead were never more at rest then any other time and it was such that even the duchies feared them."

"My father meanwhile with the duchies running scared and with the tribals being friendly was able to ensure a golden age in his lands...naturally all good things must come to an end. I was merely just a girl back when it ended. I was old enough to bear witness to the golden age and was looking forward to a new sibling when it all went to hell..."

"That is why my parents died. They neither saw it coming and were more worried about the rest of us then themselves."

"I know better now. Next time it will be they who wont see it coming."

----
With the realm she points out the different towns and cities. Including the lost marked city that was previously her families before it was wiped off the map by the undead as they made their advance into the keep. Taking new lands and mostly the lands that were previously hers.

The power blocks as she explains can be brought up into several different groups. You have the producers those who provide the raw stuffs to keep the kingdom functional. Mostly the farming and mining lords. You have the lords of trade and the border lords. Finally the last one is the royalists.

The border lords are broken into three groups. Her family used to be a member of the borderlords Duchies group until they betrayed her. She has since become an independent who relies upon no power block.

This gets you concerned...but it does explain an awful lot at the same time.
>>
Rolled 53 (1d100)

>>44065447
The power blocks are led by the different high ranking dukes who teamed up and combined their resources to form the power blocks. Naturally with such powerful nobles and their retainers together ensured that even the Crown had to be careful around them.

She has since been aligning herself with the Crown and her previous master was naturally a nearby duke whom her family served under. Now that her family has been punished and to keep an eye on her. She was transferred over to the Crown's banner so they could naturally keep an eye on her.

Currently though there is steep lines between drawn between different royals and the power blocks. As one Prince wants to team up with their old enemy the other neighboring kingdom. Another wants to take the fight to the Duchies, one wants to civilize some wildlands, and the last finally wants to be isolationist. They have since formed into a number of formidable camps who are rather...divided to say the least.

The current balance may be broken Ezra explained as the one who wants to ally with their neighbor is working on taking some of the other Princes into it and is working on wooing the neighboring Princess.

The discussions are slow going and its unlikely the other ones will take to it very well. According to Ezra unless something should happen either those camps ally up and succeed with steamrolling the opposition, it maintains a gridlock, or civil war.

When she was a young girl actually was forced to grow up and taught in the capital. There she did manage to make some friends...it was only when she got older she was allowed to return to her lands to find out how badly it all went to utter shit.

If she hadn't been taken away the damage as she pouts on could of been controlled much more easily. But when your gone for years and allow the rot to sink in deep there is only so much you can do.

Your village is at an interesting intersection between the wildlands, dead duchies, river, and oceanic bay.

Unsurprisingly her land is in very poor shape but there are investments she is after and treasures she has dug up. Thanks to her determining that not all adventurers are heroes like those who murdered her family. The kingdom's status meanwhile is in a rather shaky position.

The bone in particular is a keepsake from her mother that is most valuable to her tribe and has she was part of a certain organization. That spread its influence across tribes. That is why she can so easily appease the tribals as a whole. The reason for its value is its actually a priceless treasure made from ancient bone and spiritual remnants.

The tribes according to her are as she warns on average much stronger then the typical civilized man even the women. That is simply because its tough living but it ensues their power. The women she states stick close to home...unless they go off spouse hunting. The men are more prone to wandering and because of how much a pain their women can be also may go spouse hunting. More due to said difficulties then shortages which drives the women off(as men sent forth naturally encrue more losses then the women at home). The women however despite being home doesn't mean its safe. They are expected to keep the home safe and tend to be...tad protective as well as very vicious in such regards to those that threaten it.

Unlike with other peoples whom once you steamroll the men you can have your way with the women, children, and old your gonna be in for one hell of a nasty surprise. Which makes them oddly equal but separate due to their assigned duties and expected tasks.

As for the reason why they can cause such devastation to civilized lands is simple.

Those civilized peoples are soft, weak, and overly selfish. All those qualities can and will get you killed where they are from.

So when they march out of the wilds in mass kingdoms and even empire's can't help but burn. As is their skirmishes and hunting is difficult to deal with as is.

She gives the go ahead on the student leave even writing up some recommendations and her own excusing stuff. She strongly suggests that sometime soon it may be a bad idea to be in the kingdom...and it would not be a bad idea to be back to school when it all goes down. Preferably one farther away and different specialty given you pretty much almost graduated the current your program in anyway.

Village she agrees to as well and offers special things that will serve to encourage it. Stuff like tax breaks and such.

After that you bring up the spirit well.

According to Ezra its very valuable for the resources it generates, the spirits it lures, the rarity(they are according her extremely rare), and a few other benefits.

If one should be a shaman for instance its even more invaluable. Learning spirit skills from the spirits there or training them nearby the benefits are also huge.

The only reason why according to Ezra they aren't more sought out it due to its heavily protected nature and its lack of usefulness outside of the spiritual.

It was dark out and you both were about to visit some more. When unexpectedly you heard a light childish knock and a door opened to reveal a young girl with drooping eyes who sorta wobbled her way over into the lap of the lady.

You were caught completely off guard and were about to say something until you saw the loving look on Ezra's face. For a second you thought it was her daughter but then remembered she was too young...so taking a closer look at the children you realized that despite the shocking resemblance they were clearly siblings.

At that point the Ezra decided to excuse herself as and said you were welcome to stay the night. As she carried her younger sibling to what you assumed to be bed.

In now knowing more of her background. That will probably just make her like Abi and start hitting shit harder.

All my this. We should look into hireing some mercenaries and builders to get the lumber mill up and running ASAP. Once we own the lumber mill and set up a supply train we will have made our first major contribution to the area.

You decide to walk around and think on it. Soon you ended up lost in thought as you wandered through dark corridors and strange stairways.

Clearly she knew more then she was willing to let on...and she was hiding stuff. About herself, what she knew, and how she knew them. Its hard to believe a baroness in her condition could somehow manage to know all of that.

You were busy trying to figure it out when you suddenly came to and realized...that for one you were lost. For another it seemed like this was a bad place to be. When you saw a saw some shit go down.

In the form of a vampire and an oddly familiar knight drinking together. You knew it was a vampire...because you have seen that vamp before. Looking down you appeared to have stumbled into a underground area of some kind...and at each side of the area stood the undead vamp's side and band of soldiers on the knights.

They were completely silent and due to the silence of the area you were able to catch a bit what they were saying. Something about a 'plan', 'marching', and 'stay safe'. Before the two split up but only after the vamp taking off the helm of the knight, giving you glance of his face, and planting a surprisingly chaste kiss on the cheek before bounding away. as soon after the two sides split up going their separate ways.

You suddenly feel like you REALLY shouldn't be there. Particularly when you realized you hadn't seen the vampire knight.

What do?
>RUN!
>Follow the undead
>Follow the knight
>Stay put
>Other?
>>
>>44066567
Wait, do you mean, the same vampire from the ones who attacked us?

>>RUN!
Swiftly, but limiting the noise.

Ether this guy has a lover and it's to keep apprentices is why they fight or we just saw something that will get us killed. Possibly both.

You proceed to run like hell swiftly while trying to limit the noise...which honestly doesn't work as well as you had wished. Particularly when you realized that you were lost as hell...and you heard the rattling of mail and stomping of boot approaching you.

What do?
>Hide
>Run some more
>Ambush
>Call out
>Other?
