PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Girl+Liberty

Only two full months had come and gone after Lou Gehrig’s Gettysburg Address on July 4th. You thought that was one of the most emotionally trying days of your life, and admittedly you’ve had quite a few of them these past few years. First, it was losing your father, then it was getting estranged with your mother afterwards, then it was being absolutely crippled in combat by a debilitating wound, then it was having your first kiss robbed by the last person you ever wanted to show love to, then it was finding out Operator #5 requested the Shard being kept inside of you for “research purposes”.

And now this.

Germany has invaded Poland. It is nearing the end of September. Already Great Britain and France have declared war on Germany. The Soviet Union treacherously divvied up Poland with the Nazis too. Thousands are dead or dying.

You sit in your chair, by the window in your New York apartment. You were listening to the ballgame, but no longer. You simply could not focus on keeping score anymore with this weighing on your mind. Those crazy Nazis did it. They finally threw the world into war.

“Hey, don’t be so dramatic.” Sumire steps in from the kitchen, an apron around her green dress as she lazily cleans the apartment.

Wait. Is she voluntarily cleaning!?

“Come on, Libby!” She walks over to the radio, then turns the game on. Senators 0, Red Sox 20. You quickly turn it off. If you wanted to hear devastating one-sided battle, you’d just turn on the world news. “Come on, baseball!” She grins, a little forcefully.

“Sumire, is there something you want from me?” you ask. You squint at her.

“Well… now that you mention it.” She coughs a bit. “There was this really really nice dress I saw.” You tilt your head, giving her the most motherly stern glare you can give to her. She sighs, dropping her façade of production and actual organization to her life. “Come on! You can’t worry yourself with what the Nazis are doing every waking moment of your life! So what if they invade Poland?”

You gasp a little, looking at her disgustedly. “The Polish are some of the most dedicated people I know. Alongside the Chinese, the Irish, and the Negroes, they helped build this country into what it is today with nothing more than a dream and their own hands. Sumire, how would you feel if your ancestral homeland was invaded by savages who think they can bring order into the world through bigotry and fascism?”

She shrugs. “Gee. I don’t know. I guess I completely forgot about that time the West basically bullied Japan into opening its borders and then accepting new Western ideals by any means, which meant the suppression of the old Samurai and the old traditions of Japan in favor of industrialism and democracy.” You blink. “See, I can pull this stuff on you too, don’t give me your lectures on what’s right, Lady Liberty.” She pats her chest, proudly. “I know my history too!”

“Only because I read it to you at night,” you mutter.

“And I’m glad you do.” She bends over and kisses you on the forehead. “Just relax. The Brits and the French will handle it before Christmas. Hitler gets deposed, the Soviet Union gets a lesson choosing its allies. Boom, we won’t even need to set foot on German turf.” She places her hands on her hips, looking around. “By the way, where’s Rana and Anneliese?”

“At the ballgame,” you say. “It’s about the first inning so they’ll be gone a while.”

Sumire smirks, then gently places her head in your lap, looking up at you with those glistening eyes of hers. “Ooooh… time alone with lovely Lady Liberty!” You poke her in the nose. “Ow!”

You grunt, taking up some of Sumire’s hair and fiddling with it. She sighs, resting her cheek on your thighs. “Sumire, I just want to know why you’re so carefree about this. I’d have thought you of all people would be more worked up.”

She shrugs, letting you give her a small braid to the side of her head to distract herself. “Eh. You can’t get worked up over everything. I mean, honestly, I’m kind of past the point of caring about what a country does and doesn’t do.” She turns her eyes up to you, giving you a bit more of a serious look. “I still think the Brits and the French can handle it. It’s two-on-one. It’s like uh…”

“No need to analogize, I get it.” You lean back, and then gently stroke your hand through her hair. So soft, she’s been using some new kind of shampoo. You lean over and take a sniff. Is that your shampoo? Has she been mooching off of your shampoo!? The moxie! Now you got to buy a new bottle, no wonder it’s been running out so quick! Ugh. “Listen, Sumire. I get it, you just don’t care.” She shrugs again. “You know, sometimes I wish I could be you for like… ten minutes.”

She looks up at you. “Why only ten minutes?”

“I think I could only stand being you for ten minutes,” you say quickly. She slaps your thigh, pouting furiously. You giggle a little. “I’m just saying! Come on!”

“Jeez, you’re such a tease!” She mutters.

“Look who’s talking,” you say. “You’re the one who insists we share a spoon when we eat ice cream together, you know that’s how TB spreads, right?”

She rolls her eyes. “And yet you still do it.”

You huff, feeling a slight heat to your cheeks. “Only because it saves money if we buy one bowl between us.” You let go of her hair, and she grumbles a little at the braid you just gave her. “Hey, be grateful!” You slap her on the shoulder, curling your lips. “Not everyone can do braids like me!”

“Oh yeah?” She reaches for your hair, and you instinctively lean back. “Come on, girl! Let me see those luscious locks!”

“Yeah, I like having a full head of hair, thank you,” you say. The two of you giggle as you gently fight over each other.

Then suddenly, the door flies open. The two of you stop in place. Okay, awkward position. Just play it-

“Anneliese!” Anneliese runs into her room before you can even explain anything. That gives you and Sumire time to stand up and make yourselves presentable. Rana steps into the room, worry on her face, her dress covered in what appears to be mustard, condiments, and water. “Anneliese! It’s alright!” Rana knocks on her door.

“What happened?” you ask.

Rana sighs. “Anneliese might have spoken in some words of German, and some people might have thrown their hot dogs at her for being a…” She mouths the next words. “Dirty kraut.” You swallow hard, feeling your blood boil. How dare they!? Anneliese is just a little girl. “We got driven out of the stadium! The poor little baby…”

Sumire knocks on Anneliese’s door. “Hey, Annie! Come on! You got the good end of the deal, at least you’re not colored!” Complete silence. You and Rana stare at Sumire, wondering what she was trying to work out with that statement. “… well, hey. She’s not.”

> “Let me handle this.”

You step in front of Sumire, and grab the door knob. “Let me handle this.” You gently open the door, and see Anneliese on the bed, her face buried in a pillow. And truly now do you see the damage. That lovely purple dress you bought her was stained, smeared, and was absolutely covered in mustard, ketch, mayo, and other bits that you can’t even recognize. Her usually orderly hair was completely frazzled by sodapop and beer that was thrown at her. You sigh. Material items are nothing next to friendship. “Anneliese?” She sniffles, grumbling indistinctly into her pillow. Sumire and ana look at you as you step into the bedroom. You sit down by her bedside, sighing deeply. You say, “Anneliese, it’s alright.”

“Why do they hate me?” she whines between gasps of breath and sniffling of tears. “What did I do to them?”

You shake your head. “You didn’t do anything. They’re wrong. They just assume that because you’re German, you’re like the rest of the Nazis. I mean, my Mom tells me that’s how it was during the Great War. Obviously it’d be like this now if…” You sigh. No, you’re not going to say America is going to join the war. You’ve done so much to prevent that. “Look. You’re not at fault, okay? They just hate you because they hate Germany.”

She turns her head, her sobbing becoming louder. “I hate it!” You look back at the girls. Sumire has already exited the scene, with Rana biting her lip and encouraging you to go on. “Why am I even here!? Why did you bring me here!?”

You swallow hard, taking a deep breath. “Look, Anneliese. You wouldn’t have been better off in Germany, just… this is just a phase, okay? It’ll pass.”

“Go! Go! Get out of here!” she begs to you. “I want to be alone!” she shrieks. After a minute, you reluctantly oblige.

“Okay.” You stand up. “Um. My door’s open for you if you want to talk, alright?” She nods gently, mumbling as she buries her face into her pillow again. You walk out of the room, then gently close the door

Rana looks at you, heartbroken. “She doesn’t mean it. I know she’s grateful that you brought her out of the Korps, Christine.”

“I know,” you say. “It’ll pass. Just… make sure she doesn’t speak German in public anymore, okay?” Rana nods, sadly. You look over to the coffee table, then find Kirby sitting there, next to the newspaper and a cup of hot coffee. “Can you give me a minute?” Rana nods, stepping into her own room to undress. Sumire is wherever she is, right now it’s between you and Kirby.

“I see that the United States has not taken the invasion well,” says Kirby.

You sit on the couch, nodding. “We never were fans of the Nazis. But wars tend to bring out the worst in people, on the front, and at home. That’s what my parents told me. Will Anneliese-“

“Anneliese is an important part of the organization. We will keep her aboard, I am sure.” You nod. Maybe Anneliese could do with a break or something? Hopefully she won’t receive any insults back at base. It’s one thing to get it from people on the sidewalk, but people you know? That would break her heart. “In fact, we have a mission for you, Tiger, Bomber, and Lightning. The four of you combined.”

“Really? So soon?” you ask.

“I apologize for this, we know it has been a short time since your last testing for… the Progenitor.” For the past several weeks, stretching since June, the SSO has been trying to poke and prod at you trying to get you to unleash the Progenitor again, the Ultimate Magical Girl Liberty. Hasn’t worked so far. And you were getting sick and tired of it, even if it was Doctor K overseeing it. “But we believe this to be a unique opportunity.”

“Baroness von Streucker is hosting some sort of gathering of young German girls within ten days in Berlin. She is attending personally. We would like the four of you to investigate this. Only investigate. No more, no less. You will be in and out.” Kirby tilts his head. “You seem skeptical.”

“Why isn’t Operator #5 briefing me on this?” you ask.

“He is indisposed. The SSO is currently overworking itself coordinating resistance operations in Poland. Which means I have domain over my contracted girls.” He looks to you. “Do you feel you are up to the task?”

“We’d probably have to converse with Anneliese first. She’s not had the best day today.”

“I am aware,” says Kirby. “I would prefer her to accompany you considering she knows the area very well. But if she is indisposed, we can cope. I will see to her personally.” Before you can stop him, he disappears in a cloud of black smoke. Great. You hope you didn’t just make things worse. You stand up and check your watch. Just about time for dinner. You head into the kitchen put a pot up onto the oven. Maybe a bit of noodle soup today.

Sumire pokes her head into the kitchen. “You cooking?” You nod. She walks up to you, biting her lip, taking the occasional glance back into the living room. “You know, for what it’s worth, I believe that Annie can work through it. I mean, it’s just dumb people who don’t know any better.”

“It’s not about what happens here, it’s what happens over there,” you say. “I don’t want Anneliese to suddenly turn on us just because of a bad day at the ballpark.” You feel betrayed a little. Baseball games are supposed to be leisurely, a picnic, a time where you can forget the woes of your life (unless you’re a Senators fan) and just relax. But now not even that’s sacred anymore?

You scoff mentally. What next, is football going to be the sport of America when you grow up? Nothing but a game of barbarians played barbarians. “Need any help?” asks Sumire.

“Just sit down and wait, I’ll have the noodles boiling in a bit.”

She smirks, sitting down. “… in German?”

You blink, looking back at her. “Come on, you can do it.” She rests her head on her hands, smiling expectantly.

Sumire is trying to suppress a laugh, you’re sure of it. She lets out a lot of air at once, then quickly recovers. “That’s good enough for today.” You roll your eyes, setting down a bowl, a spoon, and a fork for her. “Come on! You’re never going to learn if you keep relying on Kirby to be your universal translator! I mean, it’s useful, but I wouldn’t. You gotta make yourself better in ways without magic!”

“Bitte,” you spit. She giggles a bit. “Anyways, let’s not get worked up about that. In ten days, it might just be us three without Anneliese. So we’ve got to prepare accordingly.” Rana walks into the kitchen, smiling as she readies herself for dinner. “Rana, you catch that?”

“Oh, I think Anneliese is on the level. She’s matured.” Rana smiles proudly at that fact. “And today, today was a fluke. I mean, us Americans hate whoever we’re going to be at war with, right?”

“We’re not going to war with the Nazis, not if I have anything to do with it,” you say. You turn the oven on. “Now listen, just in case Anneliese-“ The three of you turn your heads to the doorway, to see Anneliese step in. Kirby sits on her shoulder. She’s taken a change of clothes as well, wearing a simple brown dress. “Oh, Anneliese. Um, listen-“

She holds up her hand, cutting you off. “I am sorry, Christine. I said something I should not have.” She sighs, folding her hands in front of herself. “I will assist in this mission that Kirby is recruiting us for. I won’t let what happened today sully my gratefulness to you, Christine.”

You nod, then lead her down to her seat at the table. “No, it’s my fault, Anneliese. I built up America to be this perfect place for you where you could get away from the Nazis and tyranny. I was wrong.” You groan a little, shaking your head. “America is not the perfect country, but it is a great country. But sometimes we have to suffer through the bad to get through to the good. We all do, that’s what makes it great.”

She smiles a little. “I admire your conviction, defending your countrymen. I will respect that, Christine.” You smile back, patting her head. “So, we are going to Berlin then?” You look at everyone, and they all nod at that.

“Yep. We’re going to Berlin.”

> TEN DAYS LATER <
> BERLIN, GERMANY <

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCmI52VsDcM

You very rarely ever visited the heartland of Germany. Operator #5 has been very careful to never even let you set foot within a mile of Germany unless under strenuous circumstances. But here you were, here all of you were. The four of you plus Kirby.

And in the middle of the cold autumn, you were kept warm by the heat of burning books. The military orchestra was playing in the background as citizens tossed books of science, learning, and high literature into a bonfire. Nazi flags were flown from the sides of buildings, starkly lit by the glow of fire and embers. Inside the great hall hosting this book burning somewhere was Baroness Ermintrude von Streucker.

The four of you were dressed simply in military uniforms, copied off of Anneliese’s old one. You in particular had to have the most cosmetic disguising. Your skin tone could be saved, but nothing else was. Your hair was brown, tied into a single braid behind your neck. Your eyes were colored grey, and just to further disguise you, you gave yourself a small (non-permanent) scar across your nose.

Everyone else though could just throw on uniforms and nobody would be any the wiser. Not even Anneliese had to be this drastic with her cosmetics and she actually lived here. Still, this business of burning books was making your attitude regarding your disguise feel petty. If the Nazis want to willingly dumb down their populace, they’re free to do so. It just means that once Hitler is gone, the populace will wither and die.

Sumire crosses her arms. “Waste of good books,” she mutters.

“Terrible,” Rana growls. “How could they do this to themselves?”

“It’s easier than you think,” Anneliese says. “How shall we approach this?”

“Keep in a group.” They all nod. “And remember, no English.”

Kirby speaks to you as he sits in the earring on your ear. “You are not even speaking English right now.”

“Quiet you.”

The four of you start walking in a very tight group. You lead the pack, with Anneliese and Sumire behind and Rana bringing up the rear. It was almost like an old fashioned infantry square motoring around. Really, all you wanted to do was get inside and away from this book burning business. Maybe it will actually be civilized inside.

When you get through the big double doors, you do see that it is a lot more civilized inside. You guess at it because there was nothing but girls in relatively the same dress and look as you. So it seems that if you want to make a quick escape, you can at least blend partially into a crowd. Still, there were snack bars and beer laid out, waiters tended to girls, and at the other end was a stage where stood two large imposing soldiers. “My kind of place,” says Sumire as she immediately wanders off for the food. You grab her and pull her back into formation. “Aw come on!”

“No, we focus,” you say. The four of you continue moving as one, looking around. You all probably look like a bunch of jolly little tourists on vacation, your heads swiveling around like carousel rides at the carnival. But as you do, Sumire still manages to nick a glass of beer off of a waiter’s platter.

Rana narrows her eyes, whispering to her. “You can’t drink that! We’re too young!”

“Not in Germany,” she says as she takes a sip. “Hm, it’s actually quite sweet.”

“Focus,” you say again, looking back at her. “We can’t get-“ You clock yourself right into something hard. You all immediately step back and look up to see a very large soldier, wearing a mask recalling a wolf baring its teeth. He looks down on you all, growling under his breath. “Erm. Uh. Sorry.”

She looks at you, curiously from behind her monocle. “Oh, what do we have here? New guests?” You all nod, remaining stiff as boards, trying not to panic underneath the gaze of her great big bodyguard. “Very good. I assume you all are here from the ceremonial bookburning.” She scoffs. “Deplorable, but I suppose I cannot fight Hitler in everything he does.” You blink, looking at her confusedly. Did she just call Hitler’s idea stupid? In public? “Allow me to introduce myself in case you are unaware of who I am. I am Baroness Ermintrude von Streucker, it is nice that you all came to this lovely gathering.”

You nod, offering your hand. “Hilda,” you introduce yourself. “And these are my friends, Ilya, Sakura, and Evelynne. We are pleased to make your acquaintance.”

She stares at your hand, disgusted. She immediately covers it with a handkerchief, and gently shakes it by the tip of her thumb and index finger. “Likewise. Please, gorge yourself on my food and my drink. It is my treat for tonight.” Sumire smiles, immediately wandering off out of formation. Not too far at least.

But that just leaves the rest of you, standing awkwardly, in silence as the party continues on around you.

Intelligence point #1: The Baroness is a neat freak or some sort of germophobe.
>>

> “So. Who’s your friend?”
After dealing with Knives so long, Libby must surely be unaffected by imposing German girls.
>>
>>44007471
The Baroness actually smells of discipline, though. We haven't dealt with the likes of her since Englehardt.

> “So. Who’s your friend?”

You smile a little, at least try to smile. “So.” You look up at the giant soldier still towering over you. He’s no Storm Ace but he could probably give some girls nightmares. “Who’s this?” you ask.

“My husband,” she says. “Oberleutenant Zähne.”

You all look up at him. He nods, grunting, a slight growl escaping his mask. That is honestly not the most surprising thing you’ve ever heard. Still surprising though. “Husband?” She nods. “That’s… wonderful! You two are uh…” A diminutive Baroness with a monocle and a giant soldier with a wolf mask. What a couple.

“I am aware that we may seem to be a very odd pairing, but my little puppy has not failed me once, and I have not failed him either. We love each other deeply, is that not so, Zähne?” He responds with patting von Streucker on the head. She responds with quickly and desperately slapping his hand away, then immediately rubbing at her hat with her handkerchief. Once she realizes she’s embarrassed herself however, she clears her throat and places the hat under her arm. “There, you see.”

“I’m envious,” you say simply.

“Ja. Do not worry, I am sure there will be someone for you yet, Hilda.” She steps past you, motioning to Zähne. “Stay in front of me, pup.” Zähne grunts again, stepping past you two and getting in front of von Streucker to lead the way.

But you however are not done. “Um, my lady.” She stops again, looking at you with some contempt in her eye. “So… what are we all doing here then?”

She quirks her brow, then nods to you. “I am recruiting. You see.” She pats Zähne on his arm with a handkerchief in her palm. “I believe that the future of any good civilization relies on the strength of its women. We bear the sons, we cook the food, we build and care for the homestead. I am looking for girls of particular…” She narrows her eyes, wiggling her fingers a bit in pensiveness. “Interest, so to speak, ja?”

You nod. “I see.”

She smirks a little, tilting her head. “Would you like to place yourself as a candidate, Hilda? You seem to be of good build.” She walks up to you, her eyes tracking up and down your body. Sumire comes back, food full of cheeks. “Yes, yes…” She gently pats your hips, the handkerchief and her glove keeping between her and you. “Good hips, you will bear many children.” Um. Okay. She gently pats the bottom of your breasts as well. “Hm. Breasts could be bigger.” What. Sumire, Rana, and Anneliese immediately step away, trying to suppress their giggling. “Hm. Perhaps…”

> “Why not one of my friends?”

You grab Sumire and push her in front of you. “Why not one of my friends, my lady? I mean, I’m not particularly uh… well, no, how about Sakura here?”

Baroness von Streucker looks Sumire up and down. “Breasts are too small, too small in general. I apologize for saying this, Sakura, but your body is only good for satisfying Herr Dirlewanger’s pedophilia.”

Sumire’s jaw drops. “Excuse me? I-“

You quickly push Sumire aside. “Ehehe… sorry. Uh. M- maybe Ilya or Evelynne!” Streucker turns her head to Anneliese and Rana, respectively. Her eyes immediately glance over Anneliese, and she shakes her head, but when she sees Rana however.

“Oh.” She walks over to Rana and then gently pats her body up and down with her gloved hand, carefully with the handkerchief. “Hm. Interesting. How old are you?”

Rana blinks, a slight blush on her face. “S-… Sixteen?”

“Sixteen.” Streucker smiles. “And already you have the body of a goddess.” Rana blushes, brushing her hair back nervously. “When you reach your twenties, I am sure you will be even more beautiful, Evelynne.” She looks over to you, smiling. “With your permission, Hilda. I would like to take your friend Evelynne on a trip to my castle in the mountains. We surely would appreciate her… presence there, ja?”

You cross your arms. “What for?”

“Your friend Evelynne interests me, that is enough for you, ja? Do not worry, I will return her to Berlin safe and sound within… a month.” Rana shakes her head, mouthing to you, pleading with you not to let her go.

> “Sorry, she’s actually not fit for travel right now.”

“Um, sorry, my lady but my friend isn’t fit for travel right now. She uh…” You pause for a bit, then say, “She just recovered from a bad case of measles you see. Did terrible, terrible damage to her psyche, you see so she’s not exactly in the best shape right now for traveling too far from Berlin.”

She tilts her head, her smile completely gone and replaced by a look of contempt again. “Is that so?” She looks at Rana. “Is this true?”

Rana nods quickly. “Erm. Ja.”

The Baroness squints at you, then over at Sumire, and Anneliese. “Very well. Perhaps we can see each other again soon, Evelynne, when you are more able. I will find you myself.” She looks over at you. “And as for you, Hilda. If I cannot have her, perhaps you will make a suitable replacement. Same goes for you, Ilya.” You and Anneliese nod.

Sumire coughs. “What about me?”

“What about you?” says the Baroness. Sumire opens her mouth to explain, but is immediately cut off. “I already explain why I don’t need you. You are simply fodder for child molesters. And child molesters are not what makes Germany great.” Sumire balks, speechless. Streucker takes out a pocketwatch from her breast pocket, then her eye widens. “Oh dear, we’re running late. Pup, forward please.” Zähne grunts, stepping front of Streucker again, and parting the sea of partygoers.

Some party this was.

Sumire pats her chest, glumly. “She-… she didn’t mean that, right?”

Rana sighs deeply, blissfully. “Thanks. I thought for sure you would’ve sent me off.”

“We’re here to investigate, not intervene,” you say. “But this is interesting, why does she need young girls like you or me?”

“Why does she?” whines Sumire. “I-… I can be pretty too!”

“Sumire, I don’t think you realize the scope of-“ Sumire looks at you, pouting deeply. She actually looks genuinely heartbroken. Oh dear.

“Focus, Sumire.” As much as you want to tell her that her body is perfect the way it is, you can’t, at least not in public. You’re not as shameless as she is. “I’ll tell you later.” She grumbles, crossing her arms angrily. “Come on, let’s follow her out,” you whisper. The four of you walk slowly through the crowd, making sure to keep a respectable distance away from Baroness von Streucker.

You step back out into the cold night. The book burning is still happening, but with less gusto as the night drags on and the city is drain of books to burn. You point out Baroness von Streucker and her husband standing at the side of the street, and you decide to hide within the crowd. It’s time for those good hearing skills you’ve had since you were a kid. You turn your head, and focus the ear with Kirby’s earring on it towards them.

“Yes, I am aware that we are leaving the party early. But Evelynne was a very good subject, would you agree?” Zähne huffs, gently tapping Streucker on her butt. “Ah! Stop that!” She slaps Zähne on his arm with her hat, furious. “You know I hate it when people touch me, all those germs and… eugh!” Zähne looks down at her, tilting his head. “Don’t look at me like that, you’re the one embarrassing me the way you do. This is not reform school and you are not a charming rogue, you are a soldier under my command, ja? So do not ever touch me in public again!”

Zähne growls, grumbling in some manner of guttural language that even Kirby can’t seem to decipher.

“Yes, I am aware. However, I must make something clear to you. There is something suspicious about Hilda and her crew. I don’t know what, but they have something to hide.” You blink. Uh oh. “This may work out for us however. If you are willing to cooperate, pup.” An Opel Blitz truck rolls up the street. Zähne steps up onto the cab, and hangs on it, too large to fit in the front or the back with the other soldiers. “Report back to the Castle. I will finish affairs here in Berlin.”

Zähne nods, then leans closer to Streucker. “… I’m not kissing you,” says Streucker. Zähne grunts, a little sadly. “After- you-!” Streucker sighs, then gently raises Zähne’s mask, not high enough for you to get a glimpse at his face, but high enough for her to place a kiss on his lips. She slaps it shut on him, making him flinch. “You’re lucky you’re handsome. Now go.” Zähne waves goodbye, and the trucks moves on without her. She sighs, looking at her watch again. “Where is that Taxi…”

You all collude with each other. “What’s the plan?” asks Sumire.

We already know she's the top candidate for leading the Magisch Korps' replacement, even if she's not a magical girl herself. Now that we know she's recruiting young girls, that helps narrow things down. Plus, she's making more public appearances, so it'll be easier to track her.

The Baroness, despite her aversion to human touch, does have a greatly vested interest in breeding traits. As far as she's concerned, Rana is the most breeding-worthy of all the girls here.

> Get out of Germany. You’ve investigated enough.

“Let’s get out of dodge. We’ve done enough, we’ll send the information back, get back to France, and we’re set.” Everyone nods. “Come on, let’s go.” The four of you quickly move on out of the crowd, down to another part of the street out of Streucker’s sight. There, you have a car and a driver stashed and ready to drive you all the way back to France where you can be safely debriefed.

The driver, an old disgruntled German man greets you all. “What, are you all already leaving?” he says. You nod, stuffing yourself into his car. Rana, Sumire, and Anneliese hurry themselves into his back seat, crowding into this small but relatively unassuming car.

You look back to Sumire in her seat. “By the way, Sumire.” She looks up, surprised. “Your body’s perfect, love it,” you say quickly and neutrally. She laughs, slapping the side of your head. The old man looks at you confusedly, then rolls his eyes and drives off. You have the papers to get past the checkpoints. It should be a long night drive all the way to France.

“Baroness Ermintrude von Streucker has been connected with the kidnapping of at least fifty young girls, ages ten to eighteen. Nothing has been concretely proven, but we have reasonable suspicion that she is capturing these children for some nefarious purpose,” explains Operator #5. You crossed the German-Belgium border and are now resting in the countryside in the morning. You set up a makeshift radio comm-link with the help of some local farmers, the old driver, and a little bit of elbow grease from Rana to help you talk with #5. “It is a shame you didn’t send Bomber in with Streucker, we may have been able to decipher the location of where she sends these children.”

You narrow your eyes, grimacing a bit. “I wasn’t confident sending her in by herself.”

“I understand. You made the right choice leaving Germany as soon as you could to contact me.” You look back to see Sumire, Anneliese, and Rana picnicking on the field, eating breakfast of toast, jam, some scrambled eggs, and bacon out on the Belgium rural countryside. “However, I must send you back into Germany again, to discern the location of Baroness von Streucker’s base of operations. From there, you will sabotage it in your own discretion. I have another agent on the ground in Germany who can assist you, and I’m wiring you the potential leads by telegraph now.” You look down at the radio block, to see the telegraph tapping out a new message. “Review them, and decide which to follow up. And be careful, you are a valuable asset and we cannot afford to lose you to random circumstances.”

You sigh. “This is about the Progenitor isn’t it?”

“Candidly speaking, yes. Think of it like throwing the safe full of gold you’re about to crack into the Grand Canyon, and you will understand my reservations. Until next time, Liberty.”

You sigh as the call turns to static. You rip the paper off the telegraph, and then take a look at the leads.

You step up to the picnic, and sit down. Everyone stops their fussing and giggling to pay attention to you. “We’re going back into Germany,” you declare. “We’re going to shadow Baroness von Streucker. She’s heading into Norway, there might be a potential lead on where her base is located.”

Rana hugs her legs, frowning a little. “Do we really have to go back?”

“Yes,” you say. “Streucker and her husband are kidnapping kids, we need to find out where they’re taking them and if possible we need to save them too. Hopefully, we can do this without a lot of grief and harm done to any of us. I won’t ask you to do anything I’m not willing to do myself after all.”

Sumire huffs. “Figures, of course you’d bring us in for this.” She picks up a crispy strip of bacon and shoves it into her mouth, chewing loudly. You grab her chin and snap her mouth shut, forcing her to chew with her mouth shut. “So what next then, how do we get to Norway?”

“There’s already an agent planted in Germany, he’ll provide us transportation,” you explain. “We’ll see if we can pick up von Streucker’s trail and then hopefully she’ll lead us right back to her home base. Sound good?” They all nod. “Good.” Anneliese hands you a plate of breakfast. “Now, I’m going to have a light breakfast today anyway before I sort out the details.”

“Oh?” Sumire leans over, then sets her body down on your lap, surprising you. “Didn’t a certain someone find my body absolutely perfect?” You look down, blushing intensely. That midriff, and those hips, and those small breasts. She smirks, pointing up to her. “Aw, look at that, you’re blushing!” You grab a strip of bacon and throw it at her face. “Ah!”

“Not now!” you scold. She goes limp, still laying in your lap. “Sumire, please get off of me.”

Rana giggles a little. She leans over towards Anneliese. “Aren’t they just the cutest?”

“Rana, don’t encourage her!” you say.

She turns over, groaning as she arches her back and sends her butt up and stretches out her legs. “Ugh! Come on! I’m just joking, Libby!” You plant your plate down on her back, then crush her between the plate and your legs. “Ow! What-“

“If you’re going to act like this, you might as well be my table,” you say. “Rana, give her her plate.” Anneliese and Rana giggle as they shove Sumire’s plate over to her. She pouts a little, lying in your lap. But alas, she decides to continue eating as you start on breakfast.
