Under a yellow star on an alien world the Predator Nekris hunts. This was what he was crafted for, his every fiber of being quivering with barely contained excitement held calm by his iron will.

After his ship and base were attacked he went hard at work with the Cauldron to produce new forces well equipped for the planet. Special among these he crafted a pair of the new Stalkers. Unique from the base model he gave them upgrades and weapons to make them more dangerous and effective trackers.

On the shore of a sandy beach Nekris inspects footprints already being washed away by wind and tide. A Gargoyle sails high above, providing aerial cover as the stalkers sniff along the ground attempting to follow the trail. Whoever the attackers had been they knew how to hide their tracks well, the trail disappearing once more into the ocean. One of the Stalkers started to follow into the surf but Nekris whistles for it to halt. Picking up a branch of driftwood from the beach he chucks it into the water and there was a flash of glinting light leaving the branch sliced into pieces. A wicked trap of razor thin wires left buried under the sand.

They were crafty and smart but Nekris was made for the hunt. They will not escape.

Punisher Agona walks the perimeter of her growing bunker fortress, the now timid Stonestar scuttling after her to answer any question she might have. Off in the distance she could see the glow of the massive volcano that had started belching large flows of molten rock only the day before. Gargoyles watch as Stonestar settlements suddenly appear to be on the move, emerging from caverns and crags to avoid oncoming lava.

Seemingly heralded by the mountains eruption was an outbreak of Stonestar warfare. Large groups emerging seemingly at random to fight bloody conflicts, caustic weapon throwers and living creatures launching javelins of chitin raining death among the fighters.

Even above the eternal storms seem to grow ever more violent, lighting flashing constantly in the clouds or sending great bolts to strike mountain tops. After a stray bolt has struck the hovering frigate Agona had grounded all ships and the construction of several large lightning rods to protect the craft.

Agona stops her march as she's contacted by a frantic Gargoyle and watches through its large eye. Hidden high on a cliff the Gargoyle overlooks a valley with a large sacrificial altar at the very edge of a fresh lava flow still glowing orange. There was a pitched battle underway between stonestar forces but your Gargoyle was focused on the shape rising up from the molten stone.

The hulk of glowing lava lifts itself up on four stout legs of flowing rock as it strides from the pool, launching globs of burning stone at the attackers. Its arrival quickly turns the tide, half of the fighters starting to flee while the others rally behind the new combatant as it attacks the fleeing stonestars. The victors cartwheeling on their radial limbs in celebration as the attacker, now seeming cooling and hardening returns stiffly to the warmth of the lava flow.

A hurricane rumbles in the distance as Nekris pilots his silent chariot across rough waters, thunder booming across the distance. Many miles away from his outpost he believe he is finally nearing his quarry.

Ahead lay another atoll made of ancient reefs, his gargoyle flying high above spotting what appeared to be tents made against the sandy beaches and several spots of firepits with creatures sitting around them. As the flying construct sails overhead the fires are suddenly snuffed out, the beach going dark in the light of the setting sun.

Stalkers slip from the Chariot into dark waters, Nekris hiding the craft on an island that was little more than a sandbar and a few trees. Stripping away his cloak he leaves it stashed with the chariots before diving into the water with his stalkers.

Far away at his outpost a portion of his aquatic soldiers slip into the ocean, kicking and swimming fast to provide backup to their general though that still left the Predator plenty of time for his solo hunt.

There is a distant ping of sonar, your special Stalkers suddenly drawn to it. Nekris reigns in one of them while sending the other to investigate, the zapper modification in it's body allowing it to see in the dark water as squid and eels dart of it's way. As it travels it detects a pack of Kryssers appearing around it but they do not attack, seemingly entranced by the signal as well, swimming passively alongside the reconstructed bloodhound.

Several hundred meters in another direction another sonar burst starts to repeat, the stalker still at Nekris side as they swam along the bottom of the shallow sea whining and twisting in the water. Nekris pauses long enough to watch as Kryssers, once hidden in nearby reefs swim away to heed the siren call. He strokes a calming hand along the anxious Stalker while turning his attention to the wayward stalker.

A small pack of Kryssers swim around a sphere of floating glass that pulses with the sonar signal, summoning the predators and other sealife to itself. The Stalker was wise enough with Nekris watching through it to hold back and hide in the reefs and seaweed. It creeps along the sand using its taloned feet as it tastes the water for anything odd.

There was a sudden movement in the seaweed and kelp the Stalker moved through as a creature darted from hiding. The stalker chases after it, large tail propelling the creature through the water. The sphere sudden lets out a painful screech that makes the Kryssers flail in pain before darting away, the Stalker twitching and faltering from a momentary paralysis.

That was all the creature needed, now in full view of the Stalker, to twist in the water. It was Sunscale but lithe and adapted for aquatic travel, its tail thick and strong. It lifts a skinny rifle and fires several times at the Stalker, arrow-like projectiles whipping through the water. The Stalker manages to twist out of the way of the first, the bolt traveling past to strike a reef before detonating in a muffled flash of flame.

The other bolts strike true though, your Stalker barely opening it's gaping maw to spray a dense cluster of venomous flechettes from the shardspitter in its throat before it's struck. Nekris can feel it's pain flare as small explosives detonate against it's body, it's mind fading to darkness but not before sending an image of the reptilian convulsing in the water from the venom coursing through it's veins.

Nekris and his Stalker speed through the water now, the distant sonar signals cutting off. The Gargoyle above saying there was movement in the trees of the atolls islands but it was too dark and the targets too cold to spot with their thermal vision.

Nearing the islands Nekris slows enough to swing up his spine caster and squeeze off a round, the bolt tearing through the water with a stream of bubbles. A reptilian that had been hiding in a dense thicket of kelp floating slowly to the surface, a spine of jagged bone pierced through it's skull.

Explosive tipped bolts rip through the water from various angles, the two hunters darting and twisting to avoid them. The remaining Stalker belching forth clouds of shardspitter flechettes to prematurely detonate the bolts.

Predator Nekris, while not crafted to move through the water, was still a deadly combatant no matter the environment. His spine caster rifle firing deadly rounds of bone loaded with a mix of paralytic and neurotoxic venoms.

An explosive bolt nearly strikes him but he thrusts forth a hand, a ripple of necrotic energy decaying the round's payload so it merely bounced harmlessly off his chitin. A krysser dashes out of the darkness, spots of light glowing in its gaping maw as it tried to tackle Nekris. The creature continues past the reconstructed general missing the upper portion of its skull, the edge of Nekris' thermal blade fizzing the water.

He launches himself off a rocky outcropping at a pair of the Sunscale Divers, his blades slicing through the water removing limbs from torsos in rapidly darkening water. One tried to flee grasping at the stump of a forearm but the bone and chitin spear moves easily through the water, stabbing through its thick tail and dragging to back to the hungry blades of the Predator.

Even the Stalker was doing well, dodging and darting between rocks and reefs to avoid the explosive bolts, filling the water around it with it's rapidly dwindling supply of flechettes. It squirms through a crevasse in the reefs, the thick tendril of a sting whip darting out to embed itself in the thigh of a Sunscale. It grabs a long knife that glows with thermal energy ready to slice the tendril but the Stalker twitches as the Zapper organs spaced through its body pulse with power, directing a powerful shock through the metal laced tendril. The reptilian twitches violently then drifts away limply.

Both Predator and Stalker emerge from the waves, darting through brush and trees as the lizards follow them onto land. Strangely they spoke no words yet moving with an eerie coordination. Small explosions rip through the trees as the Divers fire after the running pair.

There was a snap of a wire and Nekris lets out a grunt as another razor-wire trap makes one of his lesser hands fall to the ground with blade in its grasp. The Stalker is next to yelp in pain as a punji stick snaps a point off its side making the beast limp.

Nekris could hear and sense them racing through the trees after them but they ceased their fire. They were fast and the traps he and the Stalker had to dodge were many.

His reinforcements would be there in time but the Divers were on full alert chasing after him. The Gargoyle in the sky reporting that there were lights appearing under the waters at the center of the atoll, a pair of Divers standing on a platform that lifted from the water.

Nekris sends the Stalker back to the relative safety of the water, not wanting to risk his new pet any further. The creature dashes for the nearby shore, a bolt trailing after to detonate against the sand when it dives into the surf. Nekris weaves his way through the trees, keen eyes swiveling madly as he ran through the darkness.

Darting behind a large tree he could hear the soft footfalls of the Sunscale, too faint for most races to hear but Nekris was not like most creatures. The Gargoyle sailed above him, unable to spot the cold-blooded creatures but it does the only thing it could to help. A pair of oblong grenades drop from under its wings to crack open in the trees, billowing black obscuring smoke.

There were a few snorts and coughs as the irritating smoke fills the air between the trees and suddenly Predator Nekris leaps into motion. His spear flies through the smoke, pinning a lizard against a tree like a bug. Thermal blades sing as he swipes through a pair of lizards, tossing half of a torso to intercept an explosive bolt.

The reptilians seem to turn as one and flee the sudden assault from Nekris, falling back toward the inner ring of the atoll. The reconstructed general pounces onto the back of a fleeing Diver but refrains from killing them immediately, thermal blades pinning one wrist to the ground as he perched on their back.

The smoke had begun to clear in the wind from the approaching hurricane, Nekris leaning down to look the lizard in the eye, "This has been very fun, thank you," he says barely more than a whisper as his fanged maw curls in a twisted grin.

The Diver scowls over their shoulder, "Suffer not the dead to walk," they intone. Their hand darts to their chest, pulling a cord that opens the armored chestpiece. Nekris leaps away, his spine caster firing a bolt of potent toxin into the creature. They struggle to their knees as the flesh decays around the bone lodged in their stomach they reach towards their chest where a palm-sized flat stone emblazoned with a golden sun was embedded.

Veins stand out starkly on their neck as they struggle to spit out the words, "Death before dishonor," before slapping the symbol. There was a flash of solar flame more bright than hot that leaves a stark after image in Nekris' vision and a pile of charred bones.

Nekris scowls at the cowardice of the lizard and turns to look where the others had fled. Overhead the Nails scream past, missiles raining down in their passing to set the jungle alight with flames.

The fighters pass over the jungle, their needle missiles raining down on the trees. They pass the center atoll, raking the water with necroflenser fire but deflecting off a bubble of a portable shield, protecting the two Divers working the controls of some kind of device.

The Gargoyle still flying above finally sees the dark shapes of a handful of Divers dash from the treeline set ablaze and race for the water. The Nails swing back around, aiming for the fleeing lizards but they were quick and nimble in the water.

The Eyegore you had monitoring the system had placed one of its remote satellites into orbit over Nekris' outpost and it quickly sends you an alert far off in the darkness of your mountain fortress on Horizon's Drop.

There was a ripple of light and a corvette sized craft made of dark stone shimmers into being. A stylized golden sun was it's only marking, the cracks in the stone glimmering as engines carved into the stone alight. A small sun appears off its prow, no wider than a few feet but burning bright in the void of space.

Down on the surface Nekris nears the edge of the burning trees, watching as the Divers leap up onto the platform hovering a few feet above the water. He fires off several rounds but the bones shatter against the dome of twisting light that distorts the image of the Sunscale frantically working the controls of some system. There were a series of flashes within the shield and a flicker of light racing upwards to the sky.

The Eyegore watching the ship spotting the same flickers of light hitting the ship slowly growing the ball of solar fire.

The only ships you had within the system were Agona's small guard and the ships still stationed on the surface in Nekris' outpost.

The Nails stop their assault, angling themselves straight up before firing their engines and screaming into the air. Nekris watches from the shore as the other lizards are finally teleported as well. Whatever device they had under the water detonates in a flash of fire that boils the water.

Back at his base the Corvette hastily lifts off, a Talon having to dive from the rapidly ascending craft into the water where it had been repairing a scar in the hull.

The Eyegore watches from its satellite as the Sunscale ship sits as the miniature sun pulses and slowly grows. The Nails punch through the atmosphere, their engines burning hot as they launch a salvo of necroflenser bolts and brightly burning flayer beams.

They strike the ship that seemed to have no shields, ripping away chunks of the stone hull. They fire the last of their missiles and one of the engines flickers then dies with a small soundless implosion.

The Corvette rapidly nears, aiming it's weapons towards the craft but just as it was about to fire the Sunscale craft lurches forward on its remaining engine.

The prow of the ship pushes into the small sun and there is a slight delay before the star engulfs the ships then implodes, leaving behind only a few shattered chunks of stone floating away into the void or falling to the planet to be incinerated on reentry.

The Sunscale ships has escaped.

Nekris gathers his troops and findings, returning to his outpost as the hurricane raged around them, the corvette and nails staying in orbit until the storm passes.

His pet stalker rides in the side compartment of the Chariot as Nekris returns to the outpost, thinking of the hunt and his failure to capture any alive and allowing their escape. He pats the head of his stalker as it nudges against him, sensing his annoyance.

Glancing at the stump of his wrist, his hand taken by a simple trap he knew he would have to do better the next time. Swearing to himself that the next hunt would be a vast improvement he races across the ocean as the storm rages around him.

Nekris recovers and continues to fortify his outpost as the storm rages overhead, churning the seas violently.

Agona continues to build her fortress and keep watch over the Stonestar conflicts for another sign of the strange lava-creature. You feel her yearn for conflict but she is a good soldier, knowing that a secure base is a priority over a pointless conflict with the locals.

Lorgul is less patient, spending his time training with the Disciples in brutal melees that have begun to reshape portions of the moonscape.

Red-Leaf-Strains continues her tales to the young herd members at the disapproval of her sisters even as some of the older members begin to listen as well. Her dreams are full of stars and alien worlds, your astral image showing her the world of Rukor and its people the Ructu.

The Ructu captives continue to use the enchanted sphere as well, the solitary hold out finally joining them despite their misgivings. They have been allowed to roam the halls of your mountain fortress but they complain of the dryness much like the Stonestar had but seem to enjoy the kelp your other minions have grown to like as well.

There was much to be done, especially now that the Sunscale know of a new undead presence. You were certain they would return to Rukor because of Nekris not to mention the Ahkam influence which you figure was the original purpose of their presence on the planet.

There is a small burst of easily dismissed radiation as the Eyegore cuts it's void drive within the system of the Red Giant star, the Confederacy controlled moons mostly unchanged from your last visit.

This Eyegore learns from it's predecessor, keeping a safe distance from the moons of the gas giant and the picket fleet defending it. Instead it spreads its remote satellites, satisfied with sitting several light minutes away and watching with its multitude of eyes.

The remote satellites drifted into position, trying to keep discreet and to the relief of both the Eyegore and yourself the defenders don't seem to notice the new observer. The Eyegore settles in, listening in on scraps of radio transmissions for anything worthwhile.

It would still take some time for the other Eyegores to reach their destinations.

>Add all research topics.
>Build 69 chariots 690M
>Create 80 aquatic talons 400B
>Create 50 stalkers 200B 200M

and for creating:
Talon body layout: 5B
Advanced Jump Pack: 10M
Metal-Sheathed Bones: 2M
Neurotoxic Venomgland: 2B
Crude Camouflage: 2B
Total: 9B 12M
Did you want to add a Cluster Stingwhip to go with the venomgland or give them a weapon? These would be good for ship-boarding actions or sabotage actions

Did I scare all the players away with all the combat?

>>44142405
Cluster Stingwhip to go with the venomgland
yes
>>
>>44142405
I think we're all just a little stumped over what to do in the wake of that little scrap. Also could we equip a cluster sting whip adaptation and also equip the unit with weapons like flensers and whatnot?

Yes to the cluster stingwhip.

Jadyk spends some time with one of the first Cauldrons, the mind within fond of it's creator and eager to assist as you craft a new soldier for you army.

Lifting from the Cauldron on a ripple of void energy your newest creation hovers to land lightly on the ground. Much like a Talon this reconstructed was heavier from it's metal-sheathed bones and the large fins flexing on its back. It's skin ripples and darkens to match the floor, the trio of barbs quivering in its forearm. The fins flex and it hops several feet in a single motion, the jump-pack allowing it to move with barely an effort.

>Created Creeper: A stealthy and fast creation, the Creepers rely on their advanced jump-packs to leap from ship to ship in boarding actions or to move silently and quickly on planet. With their crude camo they prefer to lay in wait then following their targets or to sneak undetected into the midst of fortified positions. They come with a cluster stingwhip and neurotoxin venomgland as a base but can equip Shardspitters, Bone Rifles and Necroflensers easily. Cost 9B 12M
(Open to a better name)
How many would you like to create?

On Rukor the Cauldron is quite busy, churning out a mass of amphibious Talons and Stalkers that move into the tumultuous seas. They split up, traveling in packs with aquatic gargoyles as they patrol the rough waters.

Completed Research:
>Netu Clansword: Fast
>Portable Missile-pod: Fast

The Clansword taken by Clanship Captain Krotur has long sat in your Mountain fortress, a trophy of the conquest. Finally you take it down from it's mounting next to the bones of the Sunscale Worker and bring it to the Cauldron.

The blade was long, a sword several feet in length and much too large and unwieldy for a human sized warrior. It was old, older than perhaps the Clanship itself with the names of dozens of Netu commanders inscribed along the blade. It was a thermal blade much like the ones the Dagger Pirate rank and file wielded but within the blade and hilt it contained remarkable mini-servos that vibrated the blades edge at extreme speeds giving the blade increased cutting power.

>Unlocked Vibro-blade weapon adaptation: Bladed melee weapons now vibrate at extreme speeds increasing their cutting power. Stacks with thermal weapons.

The Missile-pod was easily re-engineered for your own uses.

>Unlocked Portable Missile-Pod: A deployable missile-pod for area defense and denial the missile-pod is a discreet container loaded with a single salvo of either Needle or Pin missiles before needing to be reloaded. Cost: Same as missile type
>>

I wonder why the daggers didn't standardize this tech.
>>
>>44143205

Can we build or do something that will let us lock on the the remains of the wormstar?
>>
>>44143045
Out of a strange respect for the history in the blade Jadyk repairs the Clansword, returning it to its place on his wall of trophies. Maybe you were getting sentimental, one antique looking out for another.

The Clansword, the bones of the Sunscale, Estkri's helm, a portion of void-charred crystal, an obsidian knife, and a chunk of red lens from the Monolith are arrayed on a large blank wall, necrotic crystals casting them in a light as Jadyk stands before his trophies. The wall was large and mostly empty, begging to be filled with other memorabilia of conquest.

>>44143162
Fast research subjects go by Faaaast when Jadyk helps out, especially when it comes to dismantling weapons or dissecting bodies

>>44143205
Because it was considered high-ranked tech only available to commanders similar to the Powersuit. If Jadyk or Lorgul had boarded the Clanship they would've encountered Krotur piloting it in the boss-fight instead of him surrendering at the overwhelming tide of Reconstructed
>>
>>44143352
Isn't that what Jadyk was attempting to figure out with his deep meditation sessions?
>>
>>44143382
Let's try that again.

Let's establish a base on the moon of Rukor. AA towers and a squad of Nails. Keep watch for more sunscale and for any snakes that might show up

We have KeLp to help us now!

All jokes aside we actually can use the kelp in this.
If it's something that can be perceived as sound then it must travel as something similar to the electromagnetic spectrum, but with life and death instead

We could set up the kelp to pick up the death frequency of the worm star, as the KeLp grows it will form echoed of that energy in them, use the difference in the strength of that energy to triangulate the wormstars location

Cauldrons churn and a score of your new Shadows float from the liquid mix of life and death. Their bodies dark and smooth as the stones they stood on, the nimble reconstructed leaping from mountain to mountain as they test their abilities on Horizon's Drop.

They sneak right up to cliff-jumpers that had started to return to the areas now that your hunting of them was past. The mammals sleeping undisturbed until prodded or tackled by playful Shadows, bleating in panicked alarm.
(Shadows seem a better name for them true >>44143679)

Corvettes and Frigates lift off from the moon carrying vats of biomass and several Cauldrons, skipping away to the Rukor system. They stop by the protoplanet mining operation and collect the first load of metals mined by Entropic Excavators and Harvester ships.

They turn to Rukors moon and touch down, Agona sending plans to the Think Tanks in charge of construction for the layout. Diggers carve through the stone and soldiers start to erect the first of the anti-ship towers.

Unfortunately the contact that Jadyk attained with the Wormstar or its corpse were purely hallicinatory and in Jadyk's mind. Jadyks knows of no physical way to track the Wormstar.

Once he returned to familiar space he may be able to track it's old system down though the Wormstar was known to "travel" so it could literally be anywhere at all if anything of it remained.

The peculiar dried plant discovered in the Sunscale camp made Nekris curious as to the care the reptilians had put into protecting it from the elements, wrapped firmly in layers of dry plastic. The colorful glass pipes had a black residue layered on the insides that smelt quite strong, making the Alpha Stalker whine at the scent.

Given to a Think Tank it turns its attention to decoding the plant and its properties to see if it had any use to the New Necrotic Armada.

>Divers Plant: Medium added

After a quick message from Jadyk both Nekris and Agona organize their forces, sending teams out with Coffins and Cyclops to scour their respective planet for anything unusual and wildlife unique to the worlds.

>Ecological Surveys started

On the moon the towers make good progress but the Think Tanks can't seem to agree on a number, the diggers building a hangar for a flight of Nail fighters in the mean time.

The finished towers resemble parts of the landscape, disguised as builders or portions of a hill. Once deloyed to fire the illusion is ruined as the device raises from the ground and extends it's barrel. With such a large network you feel certain that Agona's plans will help keep the planet's skies under your control.

Sorry for the relatively lackluster thread but I've gotta call it here.

Coffin Dropship: 15B 35M
2 Needle Missile Pod: 16M
Turret(2): Repeater Cannon 40M
Auxiliary (1): Repeater Cannon 8M

Basically a gunship designed to drop a bunch of troops on a planet and shoot whatever gives them trouble. I figured repeater cannons would be the most effective weapon within an atmosphere, and we could a use a very fast means of moving troops.
