"Well why don't we push my luck just a little bit? One more deal. Highest stakes you can fathom. Statistically there's no way possible I should win the next hand. What do you say?"

You say, a sly smirk crossing your face.

Nah'vash hesitates, one of his four hands fidgeting absently as he thinks. A beat passes, and another before the qun'kai finally speaks.

"Highest stakes I can fathom? What is it you want then.... Captain?"

He asks roughly, his reptilian lips pulled into a snarl.

"A ship. Or if you don't have one enough credits to buy one."

You reply with a calm certainty.

"Hmmmmm... fine. But if I win, me and my boys but you in chains and your sad little life is mine. Do we have a deal?"

He asks his thin scaly lips turned upward into a cruel grin.

You consider your options for a second, between taking your life and the life of the weasel that shot you and walking away or betting everything on an opportunity to get off this rock. Your eyes scan the crowd Regi watches you with eager eyes while the woman at the bar eyes you both with a kind of hunger. Desperation almost. The world waits for you answer.

>What do you say?

>Deal
>No deal
>I've got something better... I can offer you dice... my dice.* (C)

Note: As kind of a fun plot point more information will be revealed about to dice and their origins over time as the story progresses, however playing as Liam you know that the dice are bound to you. If you give Nah'vash the dice they will in time return to you, which may make you a long term enemy down the line for tricking Nah'vash.

"Deal."

You reply.

A hush falls over the gambling hall as Nah'vash turns around. Several of the customers edge closer to the exit while others find themselves drawn in toward the events about to unfold.

"Very well..."

Nah'vash drawls out, his grin growing bigger. The qun'kai begins to shuffle quickly in front of you and speaks as he does so.

"You know I very much doubted your claim to your identity when you uttered that name. But if you aren't the man you claim to be, you're a damned fine pretender. I will almost regret milking you for all you're worth Captain... almost."

He chuckles as he continues to shuffle.

Your eyes catch something as the cards begin to shuffle about. Nah'vash is cheating with his. His eyes lock with yours and his grin widens. He knows that you know. An open challenge to you. Accusing him of cheating would likely end in a fire fight, where as accepting the draw will put you in chains. You only have a few moments to decide how to react.

You smile back easily and Nah'vash and he flinches, his smile lessening under the sheer audacity of your calmness. His shuffling stops and his lips curl back into a snarl as he deals the cards. The first card falls and you see Nah'vash's face drop. The second card falls and the game is already over. Twenty-one, on the cards. Nah'vash's eyes turn cold as he deals his own cards and gets a paltry fourteen.

"You can't cheat me son. I've got the Devil's Dice. I don't need to roll them to have their blessing."

You say, a wry smile gracing your lips.

Nah'vash looks like he wants to be angry... but you see something closer to terror. A man like him doesn't mess up his shuffles, he's a card shark, a professional. These things don't happen on accident to a man like him. He takes a cautious step away from you as you slowly stand.

"Hash.... get the man his credits."

The qun'kai says in a broken voice. The goon nods quickly, terrified at his bosses loss of vigor and quickly types something out on his own communicator. A small chip is ejected from it and he hands it to you quickly.

"Leave this place.... Captain... and don't ever come back or I'll shoot you full of holes before you have even say a word."

The qun'kai says, regaining some of his broken anger.

>What do you say?

>"Pleasure doing business with you, I'll be on my way now."
>"Hey old man. You were a mechanic right? You how'd you like to get off this rock and have your last days mean something."

"Pleasure doing business with you, I'll be on my way now."

You say with a smugness that seems to encompass your entire being, as you turn you speak again, this time to another.

"Hey old man. You were a mechanic right? How'd you like to get off this rock and have your last days mean something?"

You ask to Regi.

The old man's cracked lips split into a wide grin and he stands after taking a last drag from his pipe.

"I'd be lying if you said you haven't lit a fire in this old man's heart boy. What the hell? This'll just be one last adventure in an old man's life."

He replies with another laugh that shakes him to his core.

"And you. Yes, you, the one who shot at me. Zak, was it? You life is now officially mine. I hope you like ships, cause you're gonna be cleaning mine for a looooong time."

You say, grabbing him by the collar.

The mousey man swallows heavily but makes no move to resist.

"S-sure thing boss... anything is better then what Nah'vash had planned."

He replies quietly.

"Good man. Now gentlemen, let's be off."

You say cheerily.

The three of you make your way toward the entrance of the gambling hall and you allow Regi and Zak to leave first. You turn around give an audacious bow, flourishing your hat, before righting yourself. Just before you leave you blow a final kiss to the bounty hunter at the table whose eyes narrow at you.

The establishment stays quiet behind you in stunned silence and you join your new rag-tag crew.

>What do you say?

>"So, where the hell can we buy a ship around here?"
>"Do you think Nah'vash will be a problem later on?"
>"So what are the odds that bounty hunter will follow us, you think?"
>"So Zak, are you good for anything aside from missing shots?"

Nope. It may not have had something physical like the dice, but every stat had a cool thing or concept linked to them that would have had a pretty heavy emphasis on how you play and your character, much like the Dice.

"So what are the odds that bounty hunter will follow us, you think?"

You ask to them both once the doors are well and closed.

"Sure as the sun sets Cap'n, why you got plans for that one?"

Regi asks with a twinkle in his eye.

You shrug easily.

"We'll see how it all goes. Just trying to get a head for what to expect. Speakin' of which, Zak what can I expect outa you aside from missed shots?""

You ask.

"Right... um I'm pretty good at sneaking around and picking pockets, quicker then anyone else in town when it comes to running."

He replies, trying to circumvent around the part of the conversation where he shot at you.

"That's something at least."

You say with a shrug.

"Now then, to the matter at hand, where can I expect to buy a damned ship around here?

"W-well there's a junk shop near the edge of town. They've got some old junkers, w-with Regi's help we could collect the parts they are trashed or missing and get a ship together that can run. P-plus it'd be cheap."

Zak offers, trying to be useful. It seems he's used to being pushed around and takes to his new position easily.

"Alternatively if we're lookin' for something shiny and new we'd be looking to travel to that big ol' city over yonder. Place called Kavor, biggest city for several days worth of travel, but it'd cost a pretty penny. We'd need to find work there to make up fer the money it'd cost us more then likely."

Regi adds.

>What do you do?

At certain points do they gain unique bonuses or are they tied to the item type? A hat makes you more intimidating or dapper, boots make you quicker, etc. or does a certain hat let you shoot eyelasers or something? (Or a less silly example of a sword that cuts through bulkheads more easily than it should, but is otherwise mundane)

"Let's slap together a junker, new ships are for the PGF and those rich shits. Plus if Regi's worth a damn he'll whip up something that can run just fine."

You say.

Your challenge to Regi's skills seems to have gotten him a little hot and bothered.

"If? Son I'll put something together that runs better then whatever the hell you were drivin' around the galaxy before ya' got yer ass caught. It'll probably look like shit, but it'll run like a dream. Come on now!"

Regi says, moving with a surprising speed in the direction you assume the junk yard to be in. After some time being guided around by your two new lackeys you find the massive yard, filled to the brim with scrapped bits of tech. You see a few gutted hulls hanging around, some in better condition then others. After around an hours worth of browsing Regi reports back.

"Well we got a nice lil' selection of usable hulls. Three to be exact. We have a scouting ship, small and fast but it'll go down like a wet paper bag if it get's hit with anything more then a love tap. It's also a quick fix, maybe two days tops to get it all workin'. There's a standard freighter in there, it's bigger and made for movin' cargo. If we're lookin' to get into any smugglin' it'll be our best bet plus it'll take a hit or who before killin' us. Maybe four days tops to fix, less if we get lucky finding some parts. Lastly there's a real gem in there, an old PGF ship. It's Aegis class, big and tough though it's not the fastest machine you'll find. It's also got armaments built into the ship so we'll have our own means of fighting back. Problem is those parts are worth a lot, and the thing's been stripped down. It'll be a tough fix, I can probably find parts that'll make it run, but testing everything out and making sure it all fits right will take time. Maybe a week. Maybe more. It's your call Cap'n, I know you want to get out of this place."

"I remember those Aegis ships. They're tough sons of bitches. It'll be a wait but it'll be worth it in the long run. I'd like something that can last us until we can steal something proper."

You say, rubbing your chin.

"Aye Cap'n. I'll talk to the woman running the yard and let her know. My place isn't far from here. It's not spacious but I've got some sheets and places you can rest your head while I work."

Regi replies as he takes out his pipes and pulls a strange concoction from one of his pockets and places it within ready to smoke.

"Oh and Regi one more thing."

You say as he starts to turn off.

"Yes Cap'n?"

He asks.

I wonder if there's some way, while we're waiting, if we can plan to a) deal with the bounty hunter, and b) make it look like we went to Kavor.

Hell, we could even see if we could get the bounty hunter to help make it look like we went there, get rid of the competition and have us all to themselves.

"Be discreet."

You say.

"I'll do what I can Cap'n. Might take a lil' longer that way, but I'll do what I can."

Regi replies.

Three days pass and boredom begins to overtake you, the gambling hall was one of the few main entertainment hubs in the city and after leaving with such a statement you'd feel stupid returning.

While ambling around the junk yard looking for things to amuse yourself with your communicator vibrates gently, indicating a message. Curiously you activate it and you are greeted with a loud announcement.

"ALERT. ALERT. ALL PGF CITIZENS, PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE OUTLAW KNOWN AS 'LIAM KING', HE HAS ESCAPED FROM CAPTIVITY AND IS BELIEVED TO BE ARMED AND DANGEROUS. WE SUSPECT THAT HE IS CURRENTLY POSING AS A PGF OFFICER. THE PGF HAS PLACED A REWARD TO THE AMMOUNT OF 5,000,000 CREDITS TO BE GIVEN TO THE INDIVIDUAL WHO TURNS IN THIS DANGEROUS CRIMINAL. BELOW IS A PICTURE TAKEN DURING HIS TIME IN CAPTIVITY IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE REPORT TO THE NEAREST PGF OFFICE. THANK YOU."

You close your eyes and swear under your breath. That might have been what that lovely bounty hunter was waiting for, it's possible that she'll be on the hunt now.

The hunter becomes the hunted.
Also, the bounty clearly isn't for us, because it's for a Liam King, not Captain Liam King.
And if it WAS for us, it wouldn't be a paltry sum of a mere 5 million credits.

You decide it would be best to impersonate a bounty hunter, plant false information, and perhaps get her off of your back, at least for now. The issue of course is how to accomplish this, considering your face is going to be plastered across the whole town now and you were seen in great detail at the gambling hall, it might be a hard sell.
