You head into the locker room and feel your phone buzz in your pocket. You look down and open the text while you grab some fresh workout clothes and head for a locker. It's from Jennifer.

“Your roommate and I made a few bets on our games. I won. We'll be along to the gym shortly to cheer you on.”

You open up a locker and stuff your bag into it before starting to get changed. You're dreading what might be involved. Meliora is probably going to kick your ass if Jennifer forced her into a cheerleader uniform or something. You pause for a moment and slowly turn to look at the locker number, closing the door slightly. Number four. Sammy said something about that, didn't she?

Your bag is launched from the locker, striking you in the chest. Fortunately it's not especially heavy. You can hear soft cackling, and the locker door slams closed. You rise to your feet and look at the locker. Sammy was right, haunted locker room. You reach for locker number five to avoid disturbing the ghost, and the door swings open sharply, knocking your hand aside, before more cackling fills the air. A sense of foreboding comes over you, like there's something right behind you, and a soft voice whispers in your ear.

“Boo...~”

You turn around slowly and come face to face with... nothing. Rule one of ghosts, they're invisible. You reach out and poke at the air, swiping your hand around to try to grab hold of something. Rule two of ghosts, they're also intangible. These aren't actual rules from your dad's notebook, you're just making things up on the fly. You're pretty sure your dad's notebook doesn't have a thing on ghosts. You'll have to update it when you get back to your room. You turn back to your bag and pick it up, checking the contents to make sure everything is alright.

“Seriously? Not even a scream? Is your brain made of glue or something?”
>>
You look up to find a cloud of blue-green mist forming in front of you. A face emerges from it suddenly, contorted by pain and screaming, the eyes sewn shut. You manage not to wet yourself as you fall on your backside, which is probably the only positive thing you can say about the experience. You didn't scream so much as yelp though, which is also a plus.

The face bursts into laughter as the rest of the ghost's body materializes, and she peels off the stringy strands of ectoplasm covering her eyes, grinning and discarding the fake threads. She opens her eyes and removes her head, stretching a little before reattaching it.

“There we go! That was a good reaction. Aah... man.”

She drifts over to your bag and picks it up, dumping the contents out and examining it.

“Not bad, not bad... This should do just fine.”

She climbs inside your bag, vanishing into it, and it glows softly for a moment before levitating.

“Fear me, human, for I have taken total control of your worldly possession!”

You watch the bag hover closer before it opens wide, and you roll out of the way as it attempts to latch onto your head. The bag turns around for another attempt, and you grab it and wrestle it to the ground. It's damp and a little sticky, and the ghost emerges from it in a huff.

“What's with you? I'm trying to do my poltergeist thing and you're completely ruining it!”

You look at your hands. They're covered in sticky slime. Ew.

“I've had a really long day of intimidating vampires, fooling around with werewolves and designing a religion from the ground up for what I hope is a haunted suit of armor that teaches history class.”

You turn to the ghost.

“This is probably the most normal thing to happen to me all day.”

The ghost blinks, before poking your nose.

“Boop.”

>Rules
Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

You grab a spare towel from the pile and clean off your hands, wiping your bag down a bit to try to get it dry. You really hope this slime won't leave a stain.

“So you're a poltergeist?”

The ghost drifts around you, hovering around on her back as though floating around in a pool.

“It's an unliving. Pays the bills.”

You look up just in time for her to phase her arm through your head. All you can see is blue-green mist for a few seconds before she withdraws her hand again with a laugh.

“But seriously, I'm Presence. What you're seeing right now? Physical Presence. And when I'm not forming a body out of ectoplasm, I'm Presence of Mind. Pretty clever, right?”

You nod a bit and resume getting changed. You're not stripping naked or anything, and if she's invisible you won't be able to tell if she's peeping on you.

“It's pretty good. So what's the deal with locker four then?”

Presence shrugs a little, flipping upside-down and drifting towards it.

“I got assigned to it. It's an unlucky number in some cultures. I got eaten by a vampire when I dumped paint on her head for being a bitch while I was trying to make a portrait of my friend, and this reaper lady said I had a... spark, or something. I think it's like unfinished business. So I got assigned a place to haunt while I work that out.”

You pull on your shirt and Presence immediately yanks down your shorts with a grin, before pulling your shirt up to cover your face. You take a moment to untangle yourself and Presence grabs your bag, floating around with it.

“I'm honestly getting pretty sick of this gig though. No one ever uses my locker anymore. Mind if I just haunt you instead?”

You open your mouth to speak and Presence hugs you.

“Oh, I knew you'd understand! Don't worry, we'll be best friends! Except for the part where I prank you on a regular basis without rhyme or reason!”
>>
She licks the side of your face, leaving a slimy trail along your cheek. She cackles for a moment before vanishing into your bag once more. You wipe your face clean again and look at your book bag. You liked that book bag, and now it's the residence of a poltergeist.

"If you're pranking me all the time then I won't help you finish up whatever you have to do."

Your bag stirs briefly, and Presence sticks out her head.

"Say what now?"

You pick up your bag and put it in the locker.

"I'll help you out with your unfinished business so long as you can keep the pranking to a minimum."

Presence nods slightly.

"Minimum, got it. I will minimize the pranking."

You shut the locker and take a moment to consider all the ways that this could horribly backfire. Presence's voice whispers in your ear.

"You look really stupid when you're deep in thought like that..."

You hang your head for a moment. What you really need is some way of seeing spirits so you can keep track of Presence and prevent her pranks from causing a commotion. You suppose you could also go to the staff, or...

You smile to yourself and head for the track. The paranormal club. If any group of potentially crazy idiots in this school will know how to deal with ghosts, it'll be them. You walk in to find most of the track team stretching and doing light warmups. No sign of Sammy, Andrea or the others yet though.

Actually, I said I wasn't going to roll after that. I was the one who rolled for sneak in that library, so, let's say, if I hadn't, you would've been spotted by the vampires and shit would happen. Instead, you even had the ways to steal a fucking hemomancy tome, so...

You reach for your phone and pause. No pockets on these gym shorts. You sigh softly and feel something secure itself around your wrist. You look down to find a black watch with a design similar to your phone. It's a little bulky, and reminds you vaguely of the watches from that one cartoon with the robots and the medals, just with a bigger screen. You don't know if you should be pleased or concerned that your phone took the initiative to transform itself and follow you.

You press a few buttons and open the message screen, typing out a little message to Sammy letting her know what happened with the vampires before sitting down to stretch. After a few minutes you spot Sammy emerging from the locker room with Andrea and the two vampire girls from before, all of them dressed for running. Sammy looks over at you and smiles, and Andrea gives a small wave, but the vampire girls ignore you.

"Alright, everyone, we're sprinting today!"

Sammy heads for the starting line and waits for everyone else. As you line up with the group you spot Jennifer walking towards the bleachers in a jogging suit, holding a whistle. She blows it once, and Meliora walks in behind her. It's worse than you thought. She's in a pink cheerleader outfit with pompoms and pigtails.

A few people start to laugh, and Jennifer blows her whistle again. Meliora hangs her head before doing the Red Fields Rah Rah Rah chant, complete with all the gestures. Almost everyone is in stitches, and Meliora looks like she's about to blow a fuse from anger and embarrassment.

You give Sammy a nudge, and you're almost disappointed to find her among the people laughing at Meliora.

"Can we get things moving before my roommate locks everyone out of our room forever? Because I live there."

Sammy blushes and calms down a bit, nodding and smiling.

"Come on, everyone, warmup lap!"

Sammy starts to jog around the track, and little by little the group follows behind her. You bring up the rear, sending Meliora a message letting her know it's not so bad. You debate sending a message to Jennifer, but there doesn't seem to be room for a phone in those pants. After the first lap, Sammy starts organizing people into groups for sprints, with everyone else doing light exercise while they wait. Your group consists of Andrea, a boy you don't know, the vampire girl with the short hair and two girls you don't recognize.

The best thing you can say about your performance is that you didn't fall on your face or pull something. The moment you start running you get a cramp in your leg, and you limp along while everyone else runs ahead. You manage to work the cramp out before you get to the end, and you hustle along to the rest of your group. Andrea shakes her head.

"You're really letting me down here... I was looking forward to a proper race against you. I'll have to settle for our round two being a proper fight"

You look at Andrea, then at the track.

"You want a race?"

You crouch down and prepare to sprint.

"Then let's race."

Andrea smirks a little bit and moves beside you.

"On your mark..."

You smirk.

"Get set..."

You can see a faint wisp of white around Andrea, and you focus your own magic, making your blood flow more quickly through your veins.

"Go!"

You run all-out, pushing yourself as hard as you can. You don't even pay attention to Andrea, focused only on reaching the finish line as quickly as possible. You skid to a halt once you cross it and note that Andrea was ever so slightly slower than you were. You smile to yourself and let your heartbeat return to normal, sitting down.

"I win..."

Andrea grins.

"Photo finish though..."

She rests her hands on her knees.

You give Andrea a thumb's up and head over to Sammy, who is standing around directing other people and making suggestions for exercise regiments. She perks up a bit when you walk over.

"Hi there. How's it going?"

You gesture to the sprinting track.

"Just beat Andrea. Legs ache. Taking it easy."

Sammy nods and smiles.

"In that case you can help me out with these."

She hands you a few forms from her clipboard.

"I need to fill these out so we can travel to another school for the next track meet."

She passes you a pen and you sit down beside her, noting things down on the forms. It's all pretty straightforward stuff, though you have to ask Sammy for some help with one part. Apparently every club and team has a unique identification code, and even different divisions within the same sport have a code.

The rest of the track practice passes without incident. Your legs feel alright again by the end, and you stretch a bit to make sure while Sammy delivers a pep talk to the rest of the team. She walks back over to you, and you spare a quick glance at the bleachers. Jennifer is still there, but Meliora is long gone.

You shrug a bit and offer her a smile.

"I'm kinda booked for the time being. I've got a study session to get to. Then I've got another club meeting to attend. I'll be free after that though."

Sammy pouts, before pausing and tilting her head.

"The paranormal club?"

You nod.

"Yeah, why?"

Sammy looks at you for a few moments, and turns and walks away with a frown. She looks over her shoulder at you.

"Don't get involved with them. They're bad news."

You watch Sammy head off to the locker room and sigh. She was probably looking forward to spending time with you after last night, and now you've kinda blown her off. Better to let her cool down a bit for now. The part about the paranormal club being bad news is odd though. Maybe she's just worried about your social standing when you'll be hanging with a bunch of weirdos?

You don't see Jennifer on the bleachers anymore, and you head off to the locker room to change. Presence pokes her head out of your bag and smirks at you. You tug your pants on and she climbs out to hover around you.

We hadn't gotten better. We literally couldn't walk without Jennifer holding us up.

If you want to shadowrun, consider what the vamps said about Sammy manipulating the fuck out of us. Not saying she is, but they implied it.

We need Jennifer for magic training, get over it.

Well trips don't lie, but I still think we should learn some elemental magic from her. It's the easiest to learn, and all the types of magic are interrelated.

Honestly Wind is probably closer to our mindset than fire. We've never been really angry and value freedom of choice and movement over raw power and destruction, of course sufficient wind creates lightning which is a bitch to deal with.

Wind also probably has general agility and dodge enhancement spells under it.

I can totally see Oliver using it to troll super naturals with. Just nonchalantly dodging or stay just out of reach in the air.

it's really not, a ghost haunted us and within 5 minutes we're talking about trying to help free it from it's curse, it's what oliver fucking does.

read the archive, and even if not, "she'll be fine" even though she would've died without us sending our golem roommate is a point you've neglected to refute, aswell as the other shit you've not cherry picked, because you can't.

ahha, sound like a child blud, "we're doing this because I said so!"

You take out your phone and check it for messages before looking at Presence.

"What are you talking about? This is my usual face."

Presence looks at you for a few seconds before bursting out laughing and floating higher.

"Riot. But seriously, who pissed in your cornflakes?"

You head for the door.

"I'll tell you later. I think my... sorta girlfriend is mad at me."

Presence cackles.

"Ah, to be young and in love... and alive. And with functional reproductive organs. My point is that it could be a lot worse and you can at least jack off and feel better. If you need a little slime to coat your hand in first, I'm your gal."

You shiver at the thought. You can't imagine it feeling anything other than vile. Presence vanishes into your bag as you exit the locker room, and you text Catherine to ask where she is, but there's no reply.

Mate, if you think Sammy doesn't have her own agenda, you need to brush up on your shadowrunning skills. Yes, she's a runt. Her inability to fully draw on the werewolf curse means she needs to be able to manipulate others into helping her, more so than any of the other wolves.
>>
>>44272395
That's what she needs to do but not necessarily what she did given how she wound up being in the situations she was at the beginning of the quest.
>>
>>44272395
I think she has some agenda, QM ddid say that everyone has an agneda and is out to get you and shadowrunnning and paranoid is what the quest lives on, but sammy truly likes us aswell as manipulating, and so does her mother.

But her mom is manipulating us way harder.

>>44272224
We're fucking this ghost.
>>
>>44272522
We'll see. Let's just continue to be suspicious of everyone, and work on our magic. We'll put Dracula to shame by the time we're done.

Don't forget, student file after paranormal club. And after we've looked at it, we should ask our pocket AI to figure out who else has accessed it.
>>
>>44272572
Couldn't we just ask Mel's dad instead of going all secret agent and risking shit? He's the one that tipped us off to it being abnormal like it was no major thing.
>>
>>44272569
>her mom is manipulating us way harder.
Yes, but at least she seems to be being honest about it. Sits better with me than someone lying about their agenda.

Because how can we know that he'd show us the real one? And just because teachers have free access to it, doesn't mean students do.

Why, in this quest, do anons want to fuck everything that at the very least identifies as female?

>>44272701
Sorry you find it annoying. I find it more relatable, probably because I was in a relatable situation growing up. She's lied and manipulated her ass off to try to keep safe, and I can understand that. She wanted to use us to get in a safer position, and it's understandable.
Also, I think she thinks more of her own ability to manipulate than it actually is. A true "master manipulator" would never admit to being such.

Nah, it'd be cold, and there might be staples in unpleasant places.

>>44272669

Unless she admits to such to put you in a false state of security so that you know she won't tryo to manipulate you, I get where you're coming from though, and it's reasonable, I jsut don't think all of her manipulation is to keep safe, werewolves have this power and greed boner that can't be contained that she has too in my eyes

You pull out your phone and send Catherine a quick text letting her know you just barely missed her, and to give you a call when she's done swimming. You also wish her luck with whatever is rumored to be there at night, and that you'll text her again when you get out of your club.

You turn around to head for the room listed on Tobias' business card and bump straight into someone who, at first glance, makes you think of a shark. He doesn't actually look like one, but it's the impression you get from him. He pushes past you and heads for the pool.

"You should pay more attention to where you're going. Don't want any accidents, right?"

He grins. For an instant you see shark teeth, and he walks away laughing. You take a few moments to gather your thoughts before heading off to the paranormal club room. When you arrive you're greeted by the smell of incense and candles, the room decorated with banners and posters covered in various symbols.

At the center of the room sits a boy dressed in black robes, pouring over some sort of book. The pages are wooden plates with images and words etched into them, and the boy is muttering and chanting as he turns each page. He doesn't seem to have noticed you. As you move closer to take a look you feel a sharp pain at the back of your head, as though the book's contents hurt to comprehend, even if you can't understand the words.

The boy turns to face you suddenly, eyes wide. One eye is bright green, and the other a deep, blood red. He closes the book and rises to his feet, hiding the book behind his back. He looks terrified.

"You have seen nothing! Say it!"

You clutch your head and feel an arm around your shoulders as Tobias enters the room, all smiles.

"Hey there, buddy! How's it going? Find the place alright?"

You take a good look at Tobias. No sign of any sort of manipulation or mind control magic, though truth be told you don't know what signs to look for. You turn back to the other boy and smile.

“Yeah, everything's fine. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

Tobias grins and walks past you, patting the other boy on the back.

“Sup, pres? Playing around with your spellbook thingie again?”

The boy clears his throat.

“It's a tome, Toby. It's a tome of eldritch magic and I'm trying to unlock its secrets. I was in the middle of some research when your... friend walked in.”

The boy looks you over and squints.

“Hmm. Well, he's human at least. But I can smell ectoplasm...”

Tobias grins and sits down, looking at you.

“See what I mean? Bradley knows all kinds of things. Looks like a ghost has been paying you a visit or something. Pretty cool, right?”

You seriously hope that Presence can keep to herself long enough for you to not utterly blow your cover. Bradley looks at your bag and frowns, before shaking his head.

“Anyway... Tonight, we've got something really special. Francine is doing a security check right now before I start opening the locks on it. The last thing we need is for our club supervisor to interrupt again...”

Tobias leans towards you slightly.

“The school nurse was the only one willing to sign on as our adviser, but she keeps taking our stuff if she thinks it's too dangerous. Total killjoy, but pretty cute when she's actually awake.”

A girl with messy brown hair stumbles in and smiles.

“All clear, Brad. Fire away.”

She turns towards you, shrugs, and sits down.

“Toby made a friend?”

Bradley nods and pulls out an old wooden chest, removing five small metal locks one by one.

“Seems like it. Now... behold.”
>>
He sets the locks aside and opens the chest, revealing a book with a similar cover to your hemomancy tome. You can feel something stirring inside yourself just looking at it. Whatever that book Bradley was studying earlier was, it's no spellbook. This one is the real deal. Bradley grins as he opens the book up.

“This is an ancient tome of powerful magic. I managed to get ahold of it for us to study. I think this one is some kind of text on summoning, but the words keep shifting whenever I try to read it, like it's trying to hide the meaning.”

Bradley looks at you for a moment.

“Tobias trusts you, so you can look as well. But you can't tell a soul. Got it?”

You shrug and walk over to examine the book, looking at the pages. There's something strange about them, but it's not the pages. Whatever magic obscures this text, it's influencing your mind directly. You don't know how you can tell that, but it becomes immediately apparent the moment you take hold of the book. You focus for a few moments, and the pages become clear.

“Congratulations to you, dear reader! As a practitioner of the magical arts able to see through this humble trick, you have proven yourself worthy of studying the fine craft of illusions. As you may or may not be disappointed to learn, this is not the tome of necromancy or demon summoning that this book conceals itself as. Apologies for any inconveniences. That said, perhaps this comes as good news to you.

Hidden within these pages, behind obscure riddles, logic puzzles and tests of your ability to bend your mind and your perceptions to their limits, you will find the tools to do the same to others. Illusion magic is not just about what is, but what could be, what is impossible, and the spaces between. It is my sincere hope that you will find delight and amusement in this craft before it inevitably drives you to the brink of madness and all the way back around to some semblance of sanity.

Good luck!”

A cloud of confetti springs forth from the book, along with the sound of triumphant music, but no one else seems to notice it.

“This thing is pretty weird...”

You turn a few pages, looking for the first spell.

“Mind if I keep reading? I think I'm seeing a pattern...”

You manage to find what looks like a table of contents, but really it's just a list of starting points. The first spell is probably buried under a series of riddles about perception, and it turns out to be a completely accurate guess, with the answer to the first riddle providing the page and section number of the next. You make it through the first two riddles before Bradley rests a hand on the tome.

“A pattern, huh? Looks to me like you're just reading it.”

You shrug slightly and smile.

“I mean, I'm trying to. It's all kind of a jumble though. Like I said, it's pretty weird. It's kinda like one of those magic eye drawings.”

You turn to the next section on your list and find the first spell, named Color. It's a simple spell for modifying the color of an object. There's no precision to it, it just turns the whole thing into a single color for as long as you concentrate on the spell. A note written along the edge of the page says that it's great for parties where you don't want anyone realizing you spiked the punch, and also for stage plays for fake blood.

And then you run into your first stumbling block. Blood magic has arrays, symbols and patterns used to guide the magic, and each time you cast a spell the book itself helps you to chant the words properly, focusing the magic for you. The Color spell requires you to manipulate your magic unaided in order to function, something you haven't done before. You make a mental note of the process it describes and close the book, passing it back to Bradley.

“So this is what you guys do? Sit around and look at neat books?”

Bradley scoffs.

“Hardly! We investigate paranormal activity all over the school! Tonight we're looking at the book because it's an impressive and important artifact.”
>>
Tobias nods.

“Pretty much, yeah. Normally we gather, trade notes and do some hunting, but tonight we're researching this spellbook. I'm hoping we actually manage to get something out of it before our adviser gets here...”

>>
You smile a bit and lean back.

“Alright then. Maybe I should stick around, try to help you out? I think I was getting somewhere with that thing.”

Bradley shakes his head.

“It won't be necessary. You were skipping around randomly, to properly understand a book on magic you must read it in the manner it is meant to be read. One page at a time, in order. I'm sure that Tobias and Francine will be more than happy to tell you all about our club activities though.”

You regard Bradley for a moment. He's pretty smug for a guy wearing black robes and a colored contact lens without any sense of irony. He's also trying to use a book of illusion magic like a book of summoning magic, which makes him either stupid or completely non-proficient with magic. Either way, you don't like him that much.

“If that's the attitude I can expect here, maybe I should just leave. I mean, you act like you're some big authority on magic, but I think you're just ticked off because I was getting somewhere with it but you can't make sense of it.”

Bradley doesn't even look up from the book. He's pointedly ignoring you. You head for the door and look over at Toby.

“Sorry, pal, but I'm out for the time being.”

You pause in the doorway and look over your shoulder.

“And for the record, that's not a book on summoning magic.”

You close the door behind yourself and check your phone for messages. Nothing from Sammy, a response from Meliora thanking you for sticking up for her, and something from Jennifer about how she got home alright but there's trouble brewing, and asking if tomorrow, Friday night, is a good time for your first proper magic lesson. You look at Bradley for a few moments. You want more time with the book on illusions, and getting in good with these guys could lead to good things down the road, but you don't want to yield too much right now. You settle for goading him a little bit and leaving.

“You really want my help now? Fine. Next time I come by, don't be so uppity. If you're going to be rude then I'm not gonna help you. Try to keep that book safe until next meeting.”

You turn and walk away, leaving Bradley to stew. The book isn't useful to you right now since you don't know how to manipulate your magic into spells without your hemomancy tome. That would probably be a good focus for tomorrow night, and Jennifer will probably suggest the same anyway. You turn your attention back to your text messages. You decide to give Sammy and Catherine a nudge to check in on them, touch base with Meliora, and let Jennifer know that you're set for tomorrow night.

The ski mask is a bit of a tall order, and you already have your suit to mask your scent, but you do get ahold of a map of the school on your phone, along with the locations of vents big enough to crawl through. The records room is on the ground floor, right next to the guidance office. Your phone cautions you against forced entry, since there's an alarm, and instead recommends making your way in through a vent.

Or you could just try levitating the file out. Assuming it's the right size and all that jazz.

You head for the records room, slipping your suit on under your uniform and taking off the gloves. For now you're trying to avoid suspicion, but you also don't want to leave more of an impact than you need to. It's probably a good thing that you didn't immediately go for the vents, since the light is on and the door is open. You peek inside and spot someone rummaging through a filing cabinet with a flashlight. They're wearing the colors of a student uniform, but you can't tell if it's a boy's jacket or a girl's; they're almost entirely out of view.

You sneak into the room slowly. You don't want to raise any sort of alarm by using your magic and missing completely or messing anything up. As you approach you hear a boy's voice, grumbling about something. As you get closer you spot that boy who's usually tailing Kim, that hall monitor girl. You crouch next to him and smile.

"So what are we looking for?"

He passes you a folder and sighs.

"I have to find something and destroy it, it's the file for a student who died. I have to cover up that they were ever here, otherwise the school will get in trouble."

You nod slightly.

"Cool."

He pauses and turns to look at you, before jumping backwards and hitting his head on a drawer he pulled out. As he slumps to the ground you hear a soft beeping noise, the sound of an alarm being triggered. You carefully set the file down and wipe any fingerprints off of it.

You slip back out of the room and duck behind a locker when you hear someone running towards you. You spot Kim, who skids into the room and screams at the top of her lungs.

"Luke! How could you!? You've become an enemy of justice! A vandal! A thief! I trusted you, and now you've proven yourself to be the same sort of scum we've thrown into detention every day! Have at you, villain!"

You decide to hustle away while she's distracted so you don't become involved in this mess. You really hope this doesn't turn into a massive deal.

Well, you didn't get the file, but the evening wasn't a total waste. Tomorrow you have more classes, then a magic lesson, and once you get the hang of the basics it's all fun and games from there, studying what you like and- Your phone buzzes and you check your messages. Sammy wants to know if you're finally free. Hmm.
