There is a flash of void energy as the Eyegore appears in a new distant system. Even before shaking off it's satellites like fleas from a hound it could see the conflict that raged around the medium blue star.

Turning it's gaze inwards to a large planet and the fleets engaged in a deadly battle. Dozens of capitol ships trade weapons fire with each other as swarms of fighters tear at each other in near melee range while flocks of sub-capitols rain death on their enemies. Multiple explosions mark where craft are sundered and destroyed in the pitched battle.

The Eyegore keeps a far distance several lightminutes away, the cluster of eyes drinking in the battle. Osjiic craft fight with militarized precision while the other fighters, a rather motley collection of shifts fight with an almost suicidal zeal. A jagged cruiser shaped like a massive beetle trailing atmosphere from a shattered hull rams itself into the side of an Osjiic Battleship before detonating in a ball of fire that engulfs both.

And then the Eyegore spots it. Twisting in the void of space is a pale white monstrosity, bolts of brilliant blue lighting raking across Osjiic ships and shattering their shields. A massive snake longer than a cruiser brings destruction among the Osjiic ships, the dozens of wings spaced along its body glinting with gossamer light. It's massive jaws snap down on a dropship and shred it to pieces scattering the doom crew into the void.

Your Eyegore found quite a spectacle. The Osjiic Empire hard at war with the forces of the Ahkam with one of the fabled serpents present for the battle itself.

Completed Research:
You had assigned the task of reading over the books gathered from the Sunscale Divers camp to a handful of Think Tanks. They spent the night with Cyclops turning the pages as they decoded the runic language and odd writing style.

What they learned was that most of the books were religious dogma. They spoke of the Mother in the Void and the Father from the Solar, divine entities that created the Sunscale to be their hands and mouths in the universe. The duty of all Sunscale was to spread the good word about the protective embrace of the Mother and the nurturing warmth of the Father. There were several chapters concerning the vileness of the undead, the Grand Necrotic Armada spoke of as an ancient evil and test for the Sunscale and their allies, mentioning Crystalline beings and Wasps only in passing.

Their holy texts reveal that the Sunscale have no homeworld, the planet long destroyed. The stone hulls and mountains that made up the Sunscale Flotilla and it's children fleets a reminder of their ancient home. It spoke of bringing aid and peace to the troubled and weak while dispensing righteous justice onto the wicked and sinful.

The other books are a collection of personal logs from Divers. The Divers appeared to be the Sunscales answer to wetwork (sometimes literally) and sabotage. There were brief entries in a log detailing raids and observation missions on Osjiic, Ahkam, and even Confederate worlds.

In one personal journal they discover a small packet of round seeds and a list of instructions for their growth in alien waters. The strange dried plant discovered in the Divers belongings a seagrass believed taken from the ancient oceans before the loss of their world. The findings are sent to the Think Tank experimenting with the plant helping with its research.

There was a short list of coordinates, your Voidsinger believing them to be possible safe-houses or supply caches but the list was likely to not remain accurate for long.

Nekris focuses on fortifying his outpost, the underwater and underground bunker shored up and reinforced to protect the Cauldron at it's heart. The waters of nearby islands team with patrols of Talons and Stalkers, Gargoyles in both the air and water keeping vigilant watch for anymore potential threats.

The hurricane still rages nearby but the worst of it passing by daybreak, rains and wind raking across the choppy water. Coffins and Cyclops use the cloud and rain cover to search and investigate the environment, Stalkers and Talons chasing down native fauna or rooting up strange plants.

Similarly, Punisher Agona inspects her fortified bunker built into the heart of a sturdy mesa. Walls of dark metal support patrols of Reconstructed, Cyclops and Gargoyles perched atop towers unmindful of the heavy warm rain. Her own survey searches the large moon, mindful to avoid the continuing conflicts of the Stonestar natives. Most of the life on this world seemed to exist below ground, brave Talons crawling into tight passages to flush out bizarre creatures that only moments before looked to be mere stones.

It almost disappointed Agona, the creature of living magma not making an appearance since it had driven off the Ahkam worshipers. The still faithful locals congregating around the altar the beast had manifested at the base of the massive volcano still rumbling and belching flame and lava. When Agona had told the captive Stonestar of the beast it had shown the first signs of excitement since it's capture, claiming it to be a champion of the Lavaborn, the spirit that dwelt in the volcano.

The bored and somewhat disgruntled Lorgul joins Jadyk on the surface of the moon watching the hulls of the first capitol ships being constructed in orbit of Horizon's Drops moon. He glances at you as you mentally direct the Think Tanks guiding the construction efforts, "You called for me, Lord Jadyk? Is there finally a war to wage?" You could hear a sense of bitterness in his voice.

You nod and the Eyegore watching the distant battle patches the Voidknight in. The flames licking from the cracks in his armor flare with excitement but you cut him off before he could speak, "There appears to always be War to wage, Lorgul. But first I have a task for you."

Motioning to the shipyards spread across the moon as they construct and tend to the ships of your new armada you explain your plans.

Specialized Ships unlocked:
Jadyk or his generals can personally oversee the designing and construction of their own personal spacecraft. These craft will cost more but have increased combat capabilities when piloted by their designer. Each Hero unit gives their own unique bonuses to the crafting of their ships.

That's a little too hard sci-fi for me, sorry.

Cauldrons are like super 3D printers in that they can manipulate and build matter both biological and inorganic into new shapes, some of which are animate corpses.

Now in the case of inspecting things like the Divers plant and the crystal technology it does break it down into its component parts while destroying them then doing its best to rebuild them.

I know it doesn't make much sense, sorry

Cauldrons across your holdings churn and bubble fiercely as armies lift themselves from their bellies, weapons and armor ready to be tested in combat. Your Generals prepare themselves, spurred on by the reports and sights of extended conflict in the systems around your holding.

Your living minions work hard to provide for your armada, the words of Jor and Voidsinger encouraging them to dedicate themselves to your cause. Red-Leaf-Strains speaks to a growing crowd of curious plainsrunners, her sisters frightened by the change and her new demeanor. She asks your astral image in your nightly talks if she could share the visions with her sisters and you say you never forbade her from such a task, the Osogo bleating a laugh and saying she will show her sisters the stars.

You turn your attention to the two Eyegores you'd sent to new systems, the one watching the battle and the other arriving to a less frantic scene.
Discovered systems:
>Medium Blue star: 5 Planets (1 Gas giant 1 Inhospitable low gravity world and 3 habitable worlds) Heavy Ahkam and Osjiic presence prevents thorough examination of planets

Time on the surface of the moon had allowed the Think Tanks she had brought with her time to analyze and investigate the perpetual storms that raged across the surface. The constant lightning strikes had been a deadly problem for ships entering and leaving the atmosphere, drawn to the shields of the ships as they passed through the storms.

The Think Tanks have discovered after a number of tests that left the hull of the corvette scorched a way to more safely travel through the storms. Attuning the crafts shields to the energy of the storms shielded craft can now avoid a majority of lightning strikes while traveling through them.

Using this new-found knowledge Agona orders shipments of metal from the mining operations in the same system to begin the construction of outposts and watch towers scattered among the mountain range.

>Building 3 Outposts 10 Watchtowers 150B 400M

Punisher Agona boards a Coffin with a guard of heavily armed Trolls and Stingers as groups of soldiers board several others and Nails hover awaiting their commands. The craft lift into the air and most turn towards a nearby site of Stonestar combat, the captive riding in the cockpit to direct the soldiers to their targets.

Her ship veers towards the massive volcano glowing orange in the distance.

Coffins bearing squads of Reconstructed troops bear down on the site of an intense battle between Stonestar clans. Gargoyles watch from their perches to guide in the craft, the swarm of fighters below a barely distinguishable mass. Caustic weaponthrowers and javelin launchers rain death on the battlefield from their outer positions.

The Stonestar nervously looks over the image projected for it, uncertainly pointing from one end of the battle to the other. Finally it points to a cluster of chemical and javelin throwing creatures, indicating them as Ahkam supporters. Nails scream in from above as they drop out of the sky, brilliant beams of Flayers dragging across the encampment that ruptures several of the weapons with delayed explosions of fire as the volatile chemicals mix and detonate. Necroflenser turrets rake across the battlefield, aiming for clusters of the weapons.

The battlefield becomes even more of a chaotic mess as the two armies try to disentangle themselves from the conflict as they fell back. Coffins drop in, firing a salvo of necroflenser fire, their bay doors opening to unleash the Reconstructed soldiers into the midst of the fleeing Ahkam dedicated Stonestars. Trolls blast away with Necrotic Flayers and bone repeaters, Stingers firing several grenades into the stonestars as Talons leap into a brutal melee.

The fight goes well for your soldiers at first, the Stonestars unprepared for the sudden and brutal attack. The stonestar in your coffin cockpit suddenly starts clacking its shell in alarm, pointing at one of the view screens where from the rocks the fleeing Ahkam Stonestars dragged out a large gastropod creature, it's shell a barbed spine that spins to aim at one of the coffins. The Spines crackle with sparks arcing between them before a bolt of powerful lightning reaches out to strike the Coffin shattering its hull and sending it into a spin to crash.

The weapon charges and unleashes another blast that knocks a Nail out of the sky as it tried a passing attack. The remaining craft turn themselves and burn away from the area to avoid another blast, another nail struck from the sky as they fled.

The Ahkam Stonestars attempted to turn the momentum against the Reconstructed but they did not slow. Several trolls with jump packs armed with heavy shields and deadly melee weapons leap over the Stonestars, landing by the electrically charged weapon and begin to slaughter the natives defending it. A troll buries it's thermal edged axe into the mass of feelers that substituted for a head of the creature toting the weapon, ignoring the chemical flames that ate at it's armor.

It doesn't take long for your craft to return, strafing the fleeing stonestars as they disappeared underground. Several ahkam pledged stonestars taken captive and shoved into crates of metal dropped by the remaining coffins.

The Lavaborn dedicated Stonestars watch from a distance, their ranged weapons aimed at your forces but they do not attack, merely watching with confusion as your troops gather the fallen and spoils of war.

The Coffin flies through a plume of toxic smoke as it approaches the volcano, looking for a reasonably safe spot to land. The volcano was massive, the peak lost in the storms above yet the glow of the lava that flowed from it was visible through the smoke, steam and clouds. Finally the Coffin slows and descends to land on a relatively flat ledge, Trolls and Stingers filing out to take defensive positions.

Agona steps from the Coffin that creaks from her weight and glances around. A river of rapidly flowing lava a dozen meters away feeds into a large pool before cascading down a cliff. The ground was hot and steaming, scorching the armored feet of your troops. Your General approaches the pool of magma and looks into silently. A flick of her wrist and a rock the size of a Crit Crawler lifts from beside her and splashes into the center of the glowing lake.

The Think Tanks watching from the bunker suggest finding a different spot but Agona ignores them. She glances around and snorts. The Punisher could feel the gaze of something observing them but to her annoyance it refused to reveal itself to her. She could sense something powerful nearby, waiting for her to make a choice.

Drumming her claws against the hilt of her morningstar, the weapon weighing nearly as much as a troll itself. She never thought she'd have to become a diplomat, forged for war and holding the line.

Rolling a shoulder uncertainly she paces along the shoreline of the lava pool as the soldiers around her keep watch for any activity while trying to appear unaggressive. Finally Agona stops at the edge of the pool. Her voice, rough and deep, bellows out across the glowing field.

"I am the Punisher Agona! I serve a force that is the enemy of the Ahkam scourge! I seek an audience!" the voice booming across the mountain side.

There is a slight rumble underfoot then silence. In the midst of the molten field a distortion appear, slowly lifting itself into a crude hump of a shape. Agona lays her hand calmly on the hilt of her morningstar while the shield on her back subtly detaches itself, ready to snap into place in a moment.

The shape was barely a meter tall, magma flowing from the inside out as it approaches Agona slowly. It comes to a stop several meters away from her and a voice emerges from the molten stone.

"I speak for the Lavafather, defender of this world. Why are you here?" The voice was stern and monotone, droning in her mind.

How shall Agona answer?

The voice is silent for a long time before answering, "Conduct your war on the Deceivers and their foolish worshipers. Harm not those that worship the Lavafather. Your presence will be tolerated until such a time the Lavafather decides otherwise. This world and it's people belong to the Lavafather, the Obsidian King, and he does not suffer false gods on his world."

"Tell me before we part, would you be able to direct us towards the worshipers of the Ahkam. We will remove them from this world. Are there any Ahkam present on this world itself?" Agona asks before the mound could disappear as it slowly lowered into the lava.

It pauses before answering, "You will receive word on their locations. Aid our loyalists and slaughter the betrayers and you shall be allowed to stay," the mound shifts for several long moments before answering, "The Ahkam themselves have not returned in many days since the Lavafather sent it's champion against the last Ahkam that dared to come to our world in person."

"What is the Lavafather? Who am I speaking with now?" She asks as the shape slowly starts to slip under the surface

"The Lavafather protects this world and its people. He came to this world eons ago, before the first of the natives crawled from the steampools as a prisoner. Now he rests, the spirit of the mountain itself. You speak to it's servant, a tool for it. A tool much like yourself, Punisher Agona," The voice drones in her mind before going silent.

She taps the hilt of her morningstar in thought as she stands on the shore of the lavapool for some minutes. She turns on her heel to march back to the Coffin with her troops, lifting off to return back to her base.

Well this is really embarrassing.

I uh, kinda fell asleep at my keyboard. I think I caught my second wind but I don't want to chance it. Going to call it here, sorry folks.

Thread is archived please vote for it if you can.

I do plan on running on Monday to make up for missing last thursday and for the fact I can't run this upcoming Thursday because of family obligations.

I'll be up for a little bit if people have questions or suggestions.

Again I'm really sorry about that, I thought I had more steam left in me

What's Jor been up to all this time?

Tending to the logistics of running the colony's various tasks like the mining and farming operations. He's been invaluable at keeping the living minions complacent and working hard.
He's been your mouthpiece to the living, promising them their health and livelihoods if they obeyed and served to their best ability.

We really should reward him somehow

might i suggest we start making wormsong priests, basicly minions versed in the language of the worm star whos sole purpose is mass shard injection?

You could definitely try to recreate the Necrolytes, the living worshipers of the Wormstar

Turn him undead.. let him retain his mind and become the first Reborn Priest of the wormstar.

No, at least not yet. Jor can manage the living at week because he is also living. To mortals he is hope for life continued

Yeah keep him alive. See if we can remake those priests that used to worship the Wormstar.

He could become our Space Pope
