Hey guys sorry for starting late, had a fire and had to deal with it before being able to sit at the computer, of course. Someone threw a cigarrette butt into a paper bin... it was so cliché that you'd think anyone would know it was a bad idea.

Don't worry about it, taking care of an actual fire takes precedence.

I dont get it. When I got here, I noticed some marks of fire on the kitchen and they commented to me laughing that it had caught fire 3 times in the past.

In the time i was living here, this is the 2nd fire. The first was due to a gas leak despite me telling the owners that i could smell gas every night, but, at the risk of sounding sexist, the ladies didnt care until it literally blew up on their faces, because, im a guy, so what do I know?

And now... cigarrette butt into a paper bin... WHY!? isnt that clichéd enough that it shouldnt happen anymore?

Anyway, I got quite understandably sidetracked, where were we?

We were still on the fence about making a deal for diamonds.

Ah right, IIRC we said yes to rubber, slaves, and diamonds, and no to insect meat, giant insect beasts of burden, and diamonds.

So, we are buying the succubus to relocate them to the north shore of Heven so they can have their own village, right? Obviously rubber has a lot of industrial and everyday uses other than just making balls for sports like the spiders in lapsiona are doing right now.

And diamonds have lots of industrial uses, but they require a lot of special tech to work. I guess we can use high pressure water to cut them?

So, Duamonds

>Yes
>No
>>
>>44485735
Yes.

Though we probably look like a fool to the Lapsionian nobles.

As for cutting the diamonds, grinding them against each other until we get a pair of diamonds to cut other diamonds was the way it was done in the 1600's, I think.
>>
>>44485735
>>Yes
>>
>>44485796
Well, just remember that, in a real world without a good diamond advertising campaign, diamonds really are pretty cheap, almost worthless, really, so don't suggest to make them into jewelry because it will be the same as just doing jewelry with pretty shiny rocks.

Diamonds are not real "gems". They're not outrageous enough.

And gems are really, really outrageous
>>
>>44486004
our mana generator uses carbon as its fuel then couldnt we use the diamonds as a fuel cell

We can think of a number of industrial uses for the diamonds, and compared with the prices on good old earth, these are being sold as if they were apples.

The baron still feels we are the dumbest kid he's ever come across, buying shiny rocks as if they were valuable food, but, hey, we can make good use of them!

Hopefully.

"Eldric, let's dance?" -Lyann comes over and tries to pull us away towards the dance floor.

Holding our childhood friend between our arms, we move around the dancefloor for a while before going out of the manor towards the gardens.

Some of the nobles are playing some backyard games which seem quite similar to polo. Of course, they are something like a centaur already, so they have no need for any mount.

"Ah, you are one of the ambassadors from the Cialliance, right?" -one of the ladies approaches us, holding a very large feathered fan in her left hand.
"The coalition, yes. This is Lyann. I am Eldric."
"Pleasure to meet you. I am the lady Ellena. You are quite young to be an ambassador."
"Eldric is very accomplished" -Lyann cuts in with a smile as she squeezes our hand

"Oh, the war had no clear winner, then"
"I am confident we could have pushed for victory if we hadn't been worried about the loss of life." -we say
"Uhmm... I see. That sounds very noble, but, I don't quite see why should we sign a trade treaty, or any other treaty, with an alliance of countries that are a continent away"
"Heven is right next to you"
"Yes, but we have quite similar resources. We are not going to trade apples for apples, are we? Alquia on the other hand, is much closer than the parts of your Coalition which could held an interest for us."
"Well, that is an interesting point, but as you said, we are further away, and thus our goods are much more exotic and varied, since we also have a larger overall territory variety."
"Well, being too far away is not good either, is it?"

"Alright, but then, why should we prefer your rockit ships over the ones from Alquia?" -the lady Ellena says
"Alquia does not have rockit ships"
"Is that so?" -she fans herself a few times, looking at us with a raised eyebrow
"...as far as I know?"
"You should check the docks on Darale. Just a couple of days to the south... or a few hours in a rockit ship."
"...alright"

The lady Ellena nods, and walks away towards a snack table.

"What do you think, Eldric?"

But seriously wtf is that thing?

Also somehow I think that the idea of having huge ass hive ships intruding anywhere they want just to get to the flowers is somehow terrifyingly cute.

"Why is it so dark?"
"Its spring"
"So?"
"The hiveships block the sun a lot this time of year, sweetie."

Ride of the valkyries as dozens of enourmous motherships unload millions of bee workers unto the flowerfields, pollinize the flowers, then go back to the ships and keep following the blooming of flowers across the planet.

As soon as we are back in the carriage, we talk with our friends about the rumours the lady Elleanor dropped on us.

"Well, as two opossing forces fight each other, they inevitably begin resembling each other" -says Alard- "But even if it is true, I don't see what we could do about it. It's not illegal to build or own ships of any kind."
"Our rockit ship fleet gives you a distinct advantage. If the enemy has them as well, it will be very different from the easy fight we were hoping for next time we face them." -says Okaba- "But, wouldn't it be nice if we secured their help against the [ERROR]s?"

"Either way, what do you want to do about it? I am not going to support or allow any acts of piracy or sabotage!" -Sinoe says with a surprisingly firm tone of voice, and Lazard, her guardian, nods with pride on her princess honor

"Lapsiona is neutral ground right now. Wouldn't hitting ships here set a terrible precedent?" -Honoria comments with some worry
"Well, we should at the very least see how far they have gotten with the technology." -suggest Asmund

>>

>But seriously wtf is that thing?
It's one of the motherships used by the main antagonists from the Stargate: SG-1 TV series.

They're impressive, so long as you're just another primitive screwhead who doesn't realize that the 'gods' are just alien techno-scavengers.
And while the militaries of Earth laughed at the design, it still had shields that could handily brush off any nuclear weapons fired at it.
>>
>>44487973
That is actually quite the threat. What % of pollination was thanks to bees, again? like 40%? higher?

>>44487988

I didn't know they actually shot nukes at them. I guess I missed the final seasons, sadly. Maybe i should torrent them

"Well, I really just want to take a look first." -we say as the carriage moves to our ship
"Well, we could go and return this very night. I don't see a problem with that. But we would probably need to notify the authorities about our small trip. We can't just go whenever we please inside this country" -Okaba reminds us calmly- "And receiving the authorization would take us maybe a day or more."

Shooting nukes at the motherships was actually pretty early, when Apophis was still a System Lord and a credible threat.

>I just want to make it clear right now that one of two things will happen. Either they will have no airships or your country will have new leadership within days. I could always ask Ren if she wants part of her empire back.

Their use of airships is a disaster, hidden troop movements, spies or assassins moved in and out of countries without notice. They've been a problem for too long.

After asking Mako, she instantly offers to send Mai with us.

Why Mai? because Ami is a bit of a musclehead, honestly. Her first reaction is of the smashystabby sort, while Mai is more calm and prone to observation.

Honestly, as a bodyguard, Ami is advantageous in many ways, since her reaction time to danger is much lower, but it becomes a problem when you need her to do other things.

She's not dumb, just... violent.

**A few minutes later**

"Why am I not going?" -Lyann looks at the redheaded shadow rising behind us
"We can't all go. People knows you are always with me, so if you make yourself visible, it will make it seem as if I am here as well."
"...alright"

Mai briefly considers to hugs us tightly to tease Lyann, but ends up opting out of it.

"Do not worry, I will take care of him" -she says instead
"Alright... please do so."

Mai nods

At high altitude, its quite cold, but thankfully, both of us have high enough resistances that it isn't actually bothersome, even if some ice forms on the edge of our clothes.

As we approach the city, we can see its lights beneath us. It is a rather small city on the shore, but it looks like quite the nice place.

There is public lighting in the main streets, and many of the houses have at least one bright window, showing that the people inside have access to either oil or magical lamps at night.

The streets look like most in Lapsiona, with very wide spaces to accomodate the ample spiderkin as they travel up and down their length, and while they are mostly deserted right now, we can still spot a few soldiers on patrol along the main street. as well as other groups patrolling the alleys and specially the edges of the city.

Well, as a jungle city in a fantasy world, it probably gets its fair share of monsters and other invaders at night. Why, it is just about to get 2 more right now.

Towards the docks, we can see several ships... honestly there are plenty of Alquian merchant ships, boasting the flag of the golden lion on their masts.

Which one do you want to check first?
