>>44566741
Maybe their eyes can only see a very small spectrum and that lamp illuminates the environment. But it is also far removed from the normal visible spektrum, so most enemies cannot see it, giving them an advantage in the dark. Especially against dark eldar.
>>
How about them needing some sort of global deployment system and rapid assault doctrine due to frequent Dark Eldar raids and land masses large enough to support decent populations mostly being small islands, only connected by the inhabitant's naval prowess. Drop podding wherever the DE come in and fast moving amphibious creature mounts fill that role pretty good.
>>
>>44566810
This also allows them to spy on heretics and criminals, an ability they use often to aid the local arbites as both initiation rite and whenever they feel they need to improve their skills.
To better identify each other and improve their stealth the armor is mainly a darkish violet with black trims and inbuild noise dampeners, as this is the color they can see best. Which also explains why they do not like to change that, ever. Neither for their sternguard, terminators, veteran seargent helmets or other formations.
>>
Perhaps these space marines work like angler fishes in space?

The Crimson Wake

Their mounts are cybernetically enhanced amphibious creatures native to the planet. Highly aggressive and carnivorous their tusk like jaws are often covered in adamantine to aid them in tearing through the vehicles of Dark Eldar crafts so their beasts may devour the xenos flesh.

With their cybernetic enhancments they can operate out of water in a number of environments and survive the impact of Drop Pod landings allow the chapter to move and strike quickly often hunting for days or weeks chasing the elusive Eldar.

Maybe their mutation was caused by the accidental introduction of Navigator genes into the chapter.

One of the early first batch recruits was the unclaimed illegitimate child of a baseline human mother and a navigator father.

This is what fucked their eyes up.

They can see warp imprints to a limited extent. Also dark eldar, chaos cultists and necrons freak them the fuck out.
>>
>>44568913
>baseline human mother and a navigator father

That would be ridiculously hard to pull off due to the fact that the Navigator gene disappears if a Navigator and non-Navigator bang and have a kid.

Although there was once this navigator and psyker on some heavy dose of drugs that banged each other and had a perfectly functioning Navigator baby...
>>
>>44568913
I remember something about navigator/human mating producing just regular humans, due to a recessive navigator freak gene.

But I guess it's the kind of thing that could just be ignored. You could also make it something like, mad scientist apothecaries trying to craft a perfect marine by mixing the genseed with navigator mutations, making the genetic codominance and mutation more of an enforced thing among the chapter.
>>
>>44568913
I wouldn't go that far perhaps the eye mutation that crops up whenever we roll chapters, but far more advanced only allowing them to see in regions outside of the color spectrum almost.

I see theses guys being awesome underwater commandos.

I like it.

Deep sea horrors, not even once. For people like myself no horror film is a terrifying as a documentary on the Deep Abyss, Sir David Attenborough's voice has become associated with terror.

Would some of them have to do time with the Arbitors as part of some old pact? Maybe a training time for new recruits or a semi-retirement for the old and failing but not totally broken.

The new recruits are trained in the deep sea trenches of the homeworld, honing their skills amongst the lightless depths alongside their mounts and future battle-brothers.

The super old and busted guys spend their days either passing on their knowledge to the scouts, or they take positions among the arbites of their sector.

>pic semi-related
>>
>>44569982
I'd say the hatred of heretics and how high they hold big E would definitely play along with Arbites policy and the anyone would want a superhuman killing machine on their side.
>>
As part of their initiation, they serve not as part of the Adeptus Arbites, those storied peacekeepers. Instead they are their prey. For a year they must evade the omniscient eyes of the Imperium's watchmen, scurrying from island to island along the Ulan coastline. At the end of the year, a single drop pod of the Crimson Wake descends from the chapter's Battle Barge, holding within a single specimen of the chapter's most hated foe - an eldar, armed with a dagger and murderous depravity. Only those that slay their adversary and drag it's corpse through the frigid oceans to the Chapter Monastery are inducted.
>Captcha; choose all oceans or lakes

Add to this that they need to do it close and personally with their bare hands.
>>

Also shocked to see Section 8 got deleted.

As in this very ancient project for a Space Marine Chapter?

Didn't remember well about them.

I'd see these guys more like Blood Angels strapping more rocket engines to their Drop Pods to get to their enemies even faster and louder.

Then proceed to ride their murderous aquatic cyber-mounts and tear the enemy a new one.

Seriously, they'd be so good at Drop Pod assaults, other Drop Pod-oriented Chapters would like to work with them.

Garinox are crocodilian beasts, as large as a Fenrisian battle wolf, and twice as tough. These sluggish brutes are used as hunting Hounds by those of the Crimson Wake that fight alongside the Arbites. However often during their Angler Maneuver (In which they set a derelict ship or hulk as bait to pirate or Eldar scum) they are let loose like blood hounds, stalking the interlopers like Hormagaunts, filled with cybernetic vigour.

The Borinok are large Tusked Amphibians, reminiscent to a squigoth but more loyal than even the most faithful guardsmen. Filled with the bloodlust of the Crimson Wake's progenitor (A thirst that the Wake itself does not share, however the Black Rage is common in those who have fought the unjust and heretical for too long), it takes several years for a scout to tame a wilde Borinok tadpole, a rite of passage for Scouts destined for Assault or the Devastors. The Borinok is used both for Savage assaults, their thick hide and powerful limbs, coupled with their righteous rage and Savage tusks makes for a terrible combatant. However the more elder Borinok's forms Become increasingly squat and thick, perfect for drop pod insertion and heavy weapon emplacement, often taken as mounts by Devastors or Terminators.
>>
>>44573414
In Aquatic Engagements, the Marines will deploy Gormliath Sea Drakes and their most favoured beast, the Dvorak Angler.

The Sea Drake is a quick but ultimately frail creature, able to make quick runs on an enemy before escaping, but is not fit for extended engagements. Because of the nature of the Drake's frame, they must be flown by ship to the water, as they would not survive the Crimson Wake's preferred method of utilizing Drop Pods.

I'm actually not all the familiar with Corsairs as they never interested me so forgive me if I butcher this a bit

>The Captain Ultier Auwah meditated as the silent hum of instruments within his vessel and the ordered movements of his crew were the only noises to be had.
>This had been calm as of late, as if the candle now burned dimmly after a successful year of raiding mon'keigh vessels that passed through this area. Recalling the memories of the Celestial Blade's previous exploits he found himself toying the bird shaped emblem carried by one of the more important looking mon'keigh; an ancient being of greyed hair and pompous robes praying to some being they called the God Emperor. He took his time killing that one, finding it strangly amusing to hear it call out to it's god and screaming curses of revenge and justice and whatever nonsense came at it's dying moments
>As he toyed with the thought his helmsmen brought him back to the present with news of a vessel outside of visual range. It appeared to be another Mon'keigh vessel and it was hailing a distress and cry for help. The superior technology of the Eldar and their sensors detected heat signatures that indicated damage to the engine which would further indicate power failure. Still, a wounded and corned mouse will bite when pressed. The Captain ordered the ship to cloak and they moved towards their prey like Vultures to a dying beast in slavering anticipation...
>>
>>44574825
Shock Mauls, Power Claws, and Power Lances are all found in the armory of the Crimson Wake, reflecting their medieval environment, and their aggressive fighting style.

However due to their unique eyesight the chapter has a plethora of Stalker pattern Bolters and sniper rifles, their scopes making up for their necessity on their helmet born lamps.
>>
>>44575128
>All seemed dead both within and without the mon'keigh vessel. What appeared to be a pompous sculpture of their "god" was tarnished and broken, the ship must have been damaged in battle and left here to rot in the vast coldness of the void.
>While forced to approach at an odd angle, the Blade found what appeared to be the docking hatch for the ship and connected to it having had experience enough with these inferior vessels to know how.
>Clad in armor and armed with shuriken pistols and rifles they swooped in from the umbilical cord and proceeded to advance into the human vessel expecting to find easy prey
>It was then that the first screams were heard and what sounded like the hasty trampling of many feet striking the Adamantine plate decks.
>Ultier hefted his chain blade and ran with his cohorts to find the source to find what appeared like reptilian beast, several of them, savagely tearing at their kinsmen.
>As they leveled their weapons, it was only mere seconds that they too were set upon. Ultier turned and his faced was ingulfed in a larged armored gauntlet. His one eye looking out to see another crewmate being run through by several blades that cackled with energy and brought to the ground were more of the beast would savage him.
>Ultier swiped his blade frantically and felt it hit something but it seemed useless in his current state as he lost his grip on his blade as he felt himself smashed into the bulkhead and then again and again and again until he felt nothing but numbness.
>As he was dropped to the deck the beast set upon him but rather then tearing him asunder they gripped his arms and legs in their jaws occasionally rocking their heads and digging their razor sharp teeth further into his armor and flesh.
>In the darkness of the passage way he made out the hulking form of what he could recall as a "Space Marine" as the mon'keigh called them...
>>
>>44575560

>In the instance it took for it to begin the violence had already ceased. The Marines of 4th Squad tore their way into the Xenos vessel Brother Captain Darnel looked down contempuously at the alien that lay beneath him.
>The Garinox held his limbs in their fangs. Impatient as they were to eat they were well trained and obeyed the order to hold in place. It had been months since the reports of corsairs preying upon imperial citizens and every day that passed that allowed them to do their evil was another day that set the Darnel's blood boiling in righteous anger. Praise the Emperor!
>"Brother Captain, the Eldar have been cleansed and the Squad are setting charges in their vessel now."
>"Excellent, see to it that nothing is left. Save some of the bodies of course, the Garinox deserve a fine feast afterwards." Darnel turned his attention back to the Eldar captain, it's face contorted with horror and pain. Did it understand it's words or the fate it would receive? No matter. He unsheated his maul and viciously struck the xenos's skull causing it's eyes to look in on itself and it's face to cave in slightly, a small mercy perhaps even as with a wave of his hand the Garinox set to eat they rolled their bodies tearing off chunks of flesh and limps and scampered away to relish their hard earned meal.

This.

They already sound like a Holy Crusade type of lot, going around purging elves in the name of the Emperor himself while hailing from a sea world.

I know its not a new chapter, but I would love to create a converted Soul Drinkers army from the novel series by the same name.

However, representing the chapter master presents difficulties. For you fatties who don't know, Sarpedon is a fucking bad-ass spider from the waist down. Blessed by chaos (although still loyalist, technically), Sarpedon has greatly enhanced strength and speed, as well as durability, although his most important aspect is that he is a very powerful psyker. Due to how fucking cookie-cutter 7th is, I don't feel like I can represent this character properly.

Anyone has any ideas of how I can do this shit, I'd love to hear it. It's the only thing holding me back.

What's the chapters theme, culturally I mean? I was thinking greeks, maybe Bynzantine sea farers. Hellens are way underutilized as a seafaring people

Your Spiritual Liege has come to remind you that your chapter will never be as good as the Ultramarines.
