You enjoy a slight breakfast of eggs and Nuna sausage with your holobook on the Jedi open for you to read. Around you, the podracer hangar was buzzing with activity, figuratively and literally. Many were blasting their engines to snuff out dust and warm them up for the race tonight, others were making bets with each other, and some were busy “helping” other pilots with “surprise modifications”. You had to take note that there were no other human pilots besides Misri. Podracing is not for the faint of heart, and unfortunately the entire species of humanity simply isn’t built to podrace. Any human who can podrace is either a Jedi or lying.

“Rhys!” You look, then find yourself enraptured by Misri’s disguise. Form fitting brown pants with a Clone trooper kama around her hips and her lower thighs. And on her chest was simply wrappings covering her up underneath a heavy brown vest, combined with more wrappings on her arms and her hands. And on her head was a salvaged Naboo Royal pilot helmet, complete with goggles. “What do you think? The organizer said I could probably make a few extra credits if I showed off a little something something to the crowd, make them think I’m just a little girl way in over her head! Pretty wizard, eh?” She shakes her hips a bit, smirking at you. “Like it?”

“Only when it’s on the floor of my quarters,” you say. She rolls her head back, exhaling in disgust. “You sure you’re up to podracing? It’s not just winning, it’s also evading the heat too. The Empire doesn’t take too kindly to the sport, especially on its home turf.”

“Relax, I’ve dodged police speeders before,” she boasts. She looks down at your holobook. “What are you reading?”

“Reviewing the history of the Jedi Order,” you say. “Up to and including the Clone Wars.”

“Ever meet a Jedi?” she asks. If you have, they probably wiped your memory of it. So you shake your head. “Lame. They’re the guys who use the Force and all that, right?”

“Right,” you say. “It’s mostly just cheap parlor tricks and showmanship though. A lot of things the Jedi could do, a clever man can do too.” You flip through your holobook. “Like this. The Jedi mind trick. It’s said here that a Jedi could command the minds of the weak-minded. Can you believe that?”

“Actually, I can,” she says. “I’ve met lots of goons who did what I said though…” She looks down at her body, and back at you. “Probably not so much mind trick as…” She shrugs. “Whatever. What about the mind trick?”

“Basically, wave your hand and tell someone to do something and they’ll do it,” you say. “We saw something like that back on Kashyyyk, the guy was just paying off the guys he was mind tricking.”

“Ooooh.” Misri quickly sweeps her legs back in a fighting posture, then waves her hand at you with a fierce grin. “You will give me your breakfast.”

You grip your plate and say, “I will-“ Wait. This is stupid. “What- no, this is stupid!” She groans in frustration as you continue to eat. Ugh, headache. You rub at your head, furrowing your brow. “Don’t you have your podracer to attend to?”

“Yeah,” she says. “I’m there if you need me.” She turns around and walks off, her hips swaying as she goes. Already earning those credits you see. As she does, Kuvasz and Vikker come by.

Kuvasz says to you. “So what did you want to talk to us about?” he asks.

“Katana Fleet, Zann Consortium is offering me 100k plus full market cashing of my share of ingots,” you explain very briefly. They seem confused at that, but you’re not sure how to explain it better than that. “Tyber Zann himself asked me. He’s even got a Defiler over there watching me.” You point out a man in red evil looking armor watching you from the other end of the hangar. You wave at him. He simply continues to stare at you.

“What’s a smalltime hood like Tyber want with a myth?” asks Vikker. He crosses his arms. “His Defilers yeah, they’re scary, but there isn’t enough of them to crew two-hundred dreadnaughts.”

“I wouldn’t trust smalltime hoods with fleets that could threaten the galaxy,” says Kuvasz. “What did you have planned?”

Miraluka are force-sensitive by design, hence why they were strongly discriminated against by the Empire while the Jedi witchhunt was on. It's not surprising Misri could do a ghetto mindtrick (assuming Rhys wasn't just dicking about with her). Just wait until Misri gets Force training somewhere. It doesn't even have to be Jedi who do it.

> Rotta has a contact with an archaeologist down in the Lower Levels. She might have something for me.

“Rotta tells me he has a contact on level 1313,” you state. You cross your arms, continuing to explain the situation. “She’s an archaeologist, does occasional wetwork for the Rebellion but she’s out of their good graces for the moment.” You smirk. “Perfect time to get some information out of her.”

“1313?” asks Kuvasz. “That’s three hundred levels down.”

“You’d be surprised, Kuvasz, at the kind of stuff that goes on underneath the Empire’s nose.” Vikker is quickly to enlighten the big old Mandalorian about the Coruscant Underworld. “We go down to these depths because it’s difficult for Stormtroopers and police to follow us. They practically don’t even exist past the 1300 block. The Coruscant Underworld is a haven for criminals and scum like me and Rhys here.”

“Precisely. And Rotta tells me she knows a nice cantina that she frequents down there, a little dive named Club E-Wan.” You’ve been there before. Dancing Twi’leks, the scent of deathsticks and cigarra in the air, the wet sour taste of booze. It’s already coming back to you. “She might be there now in fact.”

“Great,” says Vikker. “Well, unfortunately we can’t all go with you. It’s best if you not move in too big a group. Just take one of us with you, someone who can...” He pats his jacket, clicking his tusks. “… negotiate. Aggressively.”

> R3-M18. Nobody will suspect an astromech. Plus, he’s been desperate for your attention.

“R3!” Vikker and Kuvasz look at you strangely as the astromech rolls himself over to you. He turns his dome head to you, ready to receive orders. “Get yourself warmed up. We’re going down to Level 1313 and I need a bodyguard.” He squeals happily, immediately wheeling himself around you and Kuvasz and Vikker several times before speeding off out of the hangar. “Look, it’s not that I don’t trust you, Vikker. It’s that I figure an astromech might be a bit more surprising.”

“What are you trying to surprise her with, a J-Type Nubian?” asks Vikker. “Ah whatever, I didn’t want to go anyway.” He storms off, mumbling to himself.

“You sure you’ll be okay?” asks Kuvasz. “I don’t particularly trust R3. R5 or Sparks maybe, but R3 seems a bit…” You and him look over to see him rolling back into the hangar. Right past a warmed up Podracer. A pit droid yells at him to stop, but R3 is immediately sucked into the turbine. The podracer engine coughs and explodes loudly, and out the other end comes an intact R3. He laughs through ragged and high whining beeps, scorched black from soot. “Unstable.”

“We’re all unstable,” you say. “It’s all about how we keep on the tightrope.” You check your holster for your DL-44 and your DC-17. “I’ll be back soon for Misri’s race, don’t wait up.”

Going down a few hundred levels into Coruscant’s Underworld is a very time consuming venture. And if you’re here for legitimate and honest business, you’ll be sorry to say that your time is wasted. Down in the Underworld of Coruscant, things were run differently. Gangs roamed free on the darkened streets, bounty hunters and assassins roamed the alleyways, and drugs were always in the air and on the streets. Unlike the beautiful bustling metropolis above ground lit eternally by the system’s star, here things felt more like an eternal prison.

You and R3 walked down the streets. You nearly trip over a vagabond, lying on against a wall. “H- hey, Mister!” He looks up at you, holding out his skinny bony hand. “I need some credits!”

“Buzz off,” you say. He waves his hand at you, unable to formulate an intelligent response. R3 glares at him, ready to pounce on him with his built in circular saw and flamethrower. At least, before you pat him on the dome to keep him moving. R3 beeps curiously, scanning everybody and everything. “Relax, R3. We can take whoever wants to rob us.”

And round the corner, lit up by red and green lights, was Club E-Wan. Built out of a grounded and stricken Old Republic cruiser long forgotten, it was one of the most popular dives this side of 1313. You look around, to see some bouncers and thugs glaring at you. They’re probably just here to keep the peace. Without Stormtroopers and cops, these lower levels need some kind of law enforcement. You step on up to the door, where a huge Klatooinian steps in your way. “Hold on, bub.”

“Hey, I’m just looking for a few drinks,” you say.

“We know you, Rhys,” he says. “You still haven’t paid your tab.” You have a tab? “Gotti is flamed off at ya. Doesn’t wanna see your skinny hide round here.”

“Hey, that’s between me and him,” you say. “How about you let me in so I can make that tab even bigger.”

He snarls, knowing your reputation. “Fine.” He opens the door. “Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.” You step inside, and are immediately assaulted by the foul stench of deathsticks and other more lewd things going on upstairs. “The droid’s gotta wait outside though.”

> “The droid is with me. He’s an interpreter.”

“The droid’s with me, he’s an interpreter.” The bouncer and several of his co-workers look at you as if you’ve lost your mind. “I mean, lots of alien languages, I can only understand so many you know? Like the Ghost Hand tribe on Nelvaan, they’ve got something crazy going on with what they say you know. Hehe…” You slowly push R3 inside. “Yeah, I’m just taking my droid inside.”

“Ah, whatever, I’m not paid enough for this,” says the bouncer.

Sweet. The two of you enter the den of Club E-Wan. A linger cloud of smoke from deathsticks and cigarras hangs in the air, right over the Twi’lek dancers on their platforms. They wear little more than black strips over their red and blue skins, just enough to keep things interesting for the many patrons. At the center of it all was the bar itself, lit up underneath a normal white light. You take another look at a Twi’lek who walks by you.

Hm. You wonder how much time you can afford to waste.

R3 beeps, reminding you of your goal. Ugh. Fine. You walk towards the bar, then smack your fist to get the bartender’s attention. Gotti, the little Aleen. “Gotti!” He turns around, and then growls at you from the top of his stool. “Nice to see you, usual please.”

“Rhys!” He huffs. “You still haven’t paid your tab! How did you even get in here!?”

“You know I have ways,” you say. You sit down on a stool. “Now, the usual.” He frustratedly growls, pouring you your drink. “And a little information please. I’m looking for Emiri Su-Chong. Pantoran woman, archaeologist. Rotta says she has a nice rack to boot.”

Gotti points behind the bar. “Back there. And watch yourself, she’s a little paranoid.” Fair. You take your drink, then pat R3 to come follow you. “Hey, that droid better not be recording anything!”

She looks up at you, tipping up her brimmed hat. Across her face are yellow tattoos, in the geometric style of Pantoran nobility. “Who’s asking?”

> Archaeologist and treasure hunter <

“Rhys Cykgil.” You sit down in the booth across from her. R3 turns his head, then immediately slides over next to you. “This is my droid, R3-M18. I’m told you can help me.” She squints at you, apparently recognizing your name.

“Depends,” she says. She tilts her head. You hear a faint click, and find your hair on the back of your neck sticking up. She’s got a blaster under the table. “How can I help?”

“I’m looking for something, something big,” you say. “Two hundred missing ships big.”

She stares at you. Then she slowly files the blaster away. “Hm. And why exactly do you want to find your missing ships?” She quirks her brow a bit. “You lose things that easily, tough guy?”

“Let’s just say that I’ve got a job to do,” you say. “And I’m told you’ve got information that can help me.”

“I might,” she says. “Might,” she says with a bit more bite. She certainly seems a bit on her guard. You don’t blame her. This isn’t exactly country for intellectuals like the two of you.

“Now come on, Emiri, I know you got the information I want. And I know for sure that you hate talking down to… lesser minds like the ones that inhabit this here cantina.”

“This here cantina?” She tilts her head. “What, are you from Jabiim or something?”

“That-“ You cough. “Look. Let’s start over. What’s your opinion on the Scourge of Malachor?”

She narrows her eyes, evidently surprised that you’ve even heard of it. “My opinion is that the Scourge was caused by a variety of factors, owing to the corruption of the Old Republic and the inability of the Jedi Order to act upon the growing threat of the Mandalorians. Though, I will say that the actions of Meetra Surik and Revan were quite heroic, and perhaps even saved the Republic for millennia to come, such a thing should not have happened in the first place.”

“Precisely,” you say. “Hindsight I guess is relative.”

“Feh.” She turns her head, scowling. “People who apply hindsight to history are nothing more than cheaters and scoundrels. They claim to learn from history when in reality if they were thrust in the same position, I guarantee they would make the same stupid mistakes. Learning from history requires not just hindsight, but the patience and discipline to apply the lessons to life.”

“Struck a nerve, did I?” you ask.

“I used to teach at the Imperial Academy,” she mutters. “Nothing but propagandized nonsense. Can you believe the Emperor has the nerve to wipe away centuries of history that doesn’t conform to the Imperial attitude?” You shake your head. Absolutely disgusting. “And furthermore, such a lack of respect for the ancient relics of the Galaxy, I swear. I’m glad I left.”

“Hmph.” You nod. “So.” She tilts her head. “You said you might be able to help me then?”

She smirks a bit. “No. I can.” She leans in, resting her folded arms on the table and looking you in the eye. “The Katana Fleet is no myth, Rhys. Out there somewhere are one-hundred and ninety nine Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers ripe for the salvaging.”

“One hundred and ninety-nine?”

“I happened upon a crashed Dreadnaught on the planet of Mustafar that matched the markings of the Katana Fleet. My theory is that in the initial chaos, that Dreadnaught’s engines failed to start properly, and it fell out of hyperspace right into the orbit of Mustafar,” she says.

“Did you examine it closer?” you ask.

“Yes,” you say. “I did try, but unfortunately the code was too old and too corrupt for me to decipher. By then, the Empire had found it and had the Dreadnaught salvaged and sent somewhere else, somewhere secret. I wouldn’t know where.”

“But at least we know it may be in the Outer Rim then.” She nods. “That’s a good start, considering the size of the Outer Rim and how many planets are in it, if the Fleet is even orbiting a planet now in its possibly inert state if not still traveling eternally in hyperspace.” You sigh, rubbing your forehead. Why are you even bothering with this? She looks at you with a smile, happy to help. “Would you know where they took the ship?”

She shrugs. “Since you were former Empire, Rhys…” Ah, she does know you. “I would’ve figured you know.”

“I was a TIE Pilot, not a Storm Commando,” you say.

She rolls her eyes. “What’s the difference?” You squint at her, suddenly feeling angry. There is a world of difference. She blinks, and suddenly her eyes go wide. “Don’t move.” You sit stiff, then try turning your head. “I said don’t move.”

“Who is it?” you ask.

“Bounty Hunter coming for me,” she says. “Big droid.”

“It’s not Highsinger is it?” you ask.

She nods. “You know him?”

“Who doesn’t? He almost killed me on Lothal, he’s the only droid I’m scared of.” You stare at her straight in the eye, and her eyes shift between you and him as you feel him get closer. “Got a plan?” She shakes her head.

You take a deep breath. “Okay, look. You’ll do what I say, we give him the slip. Alright?” She nods. You look back, and see his glowing red eyes stalking through the crowd coming closer and closer. “R3.” He twirls his dome to you, beeping. “You got your fire extinguisher?” He pops it out of his hull. “Give us a smoke cloud.”

R3 fires an intense spray of firefighting foam, which deploys a dense a smoke which clouds the entire cantina. Highsinger’s eyes still continue to glow through, however there’s one thing you’re banking on now. The fact that with so many people smoking and coughing up deathsticks everywhere, his heat sensors are going to be out of whack. You and Emiri burst out of your booth and make for the side entrance. Highsinger screeches loudly, knocking aside patrons and dancers in his mad dash to find you. R3 follows you out the side.

The three of you end up in an alleyway, just outside of the cantina. “This way!” you yell. You, Emiri, and R3 start running down the alley, dodging garbage cans and rubbish on your way. After a few seconds, Highsinger bursts out of the door, and finds you turning the corner onto a street. He starts sprinting after you. “Where’s your speeder!?” you yell.

“I walked here!” she yells.

“Damn it, so did I!” you yell. You’re about to break for the elevator leading to the higher levels up the street, when Highsinger commands you to stop in his droidspeak. You and Emiri turn aside to see him. “… Highsinger.” Your heart pounds, and your fingers twitch as you look upon him. In all your life, there is one person you never wanted to see again. Even Lotte, you have to admit, you’d love to see again.

> “No can do.”

“No can do, Highsinger.” You step in front of her. Well, there are worse times to be a hero you suppose. Even against the only droid you’ve ever been scared of. “You want her, you go through me-“ You’re blasted back, knocking her onto her back. Okay, he called your bluff. Damn. Highsinger starts marching forward to claim Emiri off you.

Suddenly he’s rammed by a whining and screeching R3. Highsinger slaps him on the dome, trying to knock him over. But R3 recovers quite quickly, then draws his circular saw and his flamethrower. He squeals, running towards Highsinger. Attaboy, R3! You pick up Emiri off the ground, then hurry to the elevator with Highsinger distracted. R3 and Highsinger duke it out, his circular saw against Highsinger’s superior maneuverability and opposable thumbs. R3 buries his saw right into Highsinger’s gut. The saw splatters black oil all over R3’s face and onto the ground as Highsinger screams electronically. He falls over, wounded. R3 happily laughs, rolling towards you.

“That’s one vicious droid you got,” Emiri states.

R3 knocks into you, happily. The three of you hurry into a lift as Highsinger rolls onto his side, trying to pursue. He grabs his blaster and fires at you, only for the shots to go wide as you ascend back up the levels.

Emiri cozies up next to you as you sit in the podracer hangar. Behind you are Kuvasz, Vikker, Misri, Lev, R5, R3, and Sparks as they look on over your shoulder at Emiri’s holopad. She shows you images of the Dreadnaught, buried in the molten crust of Mustafar. “This is the Dreadnaught, the Aplomado. My theory again is that its engines failed during the chaos and it fell out of hyperspace and right into the orbit of Mustafar. Eventually it crashed, ash buried it for a while before I found it.”

Emiri rolls her eyes. “Yeah. Well. That’s the gist of it,” she says. “The Empire is in possession of this Dreadnaught now. And unfortunately, I know nothing about where you can find it. But I guarantee if I couldn’t break those navigation logs, neither can the Empire.”

“So what,” says Vikker. “We crack the logs, we find the Katana Fleet?”

“Precisely,” says Emiri. She stands up, dusting herself. “Well, I think I’ve enlightened your crew enough about the matter, Rhys. It’s in your hands.”

“You not going to help?” you ask. You smirk, stepping close to her. “There’s always room for one more on my ship.” Misri makes a silent gagging motion, rolling her head.

“Tempting.” She kisses your cheek, quirking her brow. “But no. I got my own problems.” She snaps her finger, looking up at you. “I’ll keep in touch.” She walks away. You, Kuvasz, and Vikker make note of the way her hips and her butt look as she goes on. Hm.

“Hey, boys.” Misri slaps you up the head, snapping you out of it. “I’m about to race,” she says. Oh right. She crosses her arms, smirking at her. “Jeez, I don’t need a mind trick for you, Rhys, if that’s all I need to get your attention.”

“You’ve had my attention since day one,” you respond. She huffs.

“So what now?” asks Kuvasz. “Those nav logs are our best bet and they’re in Imperial hands.”

“Give up then,” says Vikker. “I’ve had enough of duking it out with the Empire. We fight Stormtroopers and their ships, there’s no way they’ll ever forgive us.”

> “Let me sit on this for the day, I think we need more time before we can fully commit to this.”

“Before we commit, let me sit on this.” You motion everyone closer, just for security in case the Defiler can hear you from this distance. “I don’t want to throw in with Tyber just yet. I think I want to find out more before we tell anybody else about this. If Tyber offers us something bigger though, whoo.” You shake your head. The thought of having more credits than you know what to do with excites you. You wonder if you could retire finally, or just simply find a nice cushy job.

“I can get behind that,” says Vikker.

“Me as well,” says Kuvasz. He crosses his arms, tilting his head. “Caution will have to be our aim for now until we find out where they’re keeping that Dreadnaught. Though I imagine with Tyber’s smalltime but somehow inexhaustible resources, he could help us find it.” Fair point. “Regardless…” He checks the time on his holopad. “Yes, it is almost time for Misri’s race.” He looks down at Misri, and pats her on the head. “Good luck.”

“Hey!” She slaps his hand away, pouting. “Who said you could pat my head, Uncle Kuvasz?”

“Yeah, good luck!” Vikker happily pats Misri’s head.

“Stop it!” Misri slaps Vikker’s hand away too. Suddenly, Misri is whacked on the head by Spark’s leg. “Ow!” She looks up at Sparks, who is simply attempting to mimic the others’ motions. You, Kuvasz, and Vikker look at her smugly. She groans, looking down. “Do it more gently, Sparks.” Sparks slowly pats Misri on the head.

You and Misri prepare the podracer on its starting line. The starting line in this case being a disused speeder highway. The circuit takes it through the narrow corridors of Level 1011, through the central access for all levels, and back around in three laps. It’s a dangerous route, and you want Misri to have the very best. Misri pokes her head up from the driver’s seat, then asks you the most armor piercing question you can imagine. “So where are you from?”

You pause, looking at her. “Why you do ask?” She shrugs, looking at you with a curious expression. You sigh. “I’m from Jabiim. Grew up there during the Clone Wars. My parents were fighters against the Republic.”

“Ooooh…” She tilts her head, worry creasing her face. “Personal?”

“I don’t like to talk about it. The history books can tell you that Jabiim was a hellhole,” you say. You decide to go on back to work when Misri cuts you off.

“So where am I from?” she asks. You look at her, and she has the most curious expression on her face again. “I mean, I certainly wasn’t born on Coruscant and you seem like you’re a knowledgeable guy.”

“I don’t know. There’s uh…” Actually, you do know. Miraluka are from Alpheridies, past the Veil in the Expansion Regions. But you can’t tell her that. Especially not after what the Empire did to it. It’s better if Misri be blissfully ignorant for now you feel. “There’s a lot I don’t know. It’s a big galaxy, Misri. Even I have my limits.”

She nods, her brow furrowing a bit. “That so?” You nod. “Hm. Alright.” She looks down at the dashboard on her podracer. “Well, hey, I think we’re just about ready. Want to help strap me into my harness?” You nod, stepping off of her engine and then walking towards her pod. You grab the straps around her shoulder and start pulling them over her, just to keep her from whiplashing around in the pod. Inertia dampers only do so much after all. “Gotta say, I’m a little nervous about this.”

“What do you mean?”

She shrugs. “Well. It’s 40,000, 20,000 if I score in the top three. And I mean… that’s a lot of money. I just don’t want to lose.”

“It’s alright,” you say. “You’ve had plenty of practice racing on the Swoops. Pod race should feel a little bit like that.”

“Yeah but it’s so…” She motions her hands towards the controls, all of which resemble the inside of a Starfighter more than a Swoop bike. “Is this how you fly Starfighters?”

“No, it’s much bigger in my R-22 actually,” you joke. She scoffs, looking at you with a frown. “Look. You can do it, alright?” You smile at her, proudly. “I know you can.”

Her frown turns into a smile too. “Thanks.” The loudspeakers blare out, signaling the race is about to begin. “You better go and watch from the stands.” You nod, stepping off of her pod and quickly jogging out of the starting line. You move past the crowd gathered around the sides, and into one of the more private viewing areas that Vikker bought you all into. It was a neat little bar, with holo screens for watching the action from relative safety and comfort. “Vikker, what’s her stats?”

“Betting’s favoring Misri,” says Vikker. You look back at Kuvasz, who simply naps on one of the couches. “Can you believe these idiots? They see some mysterious stranger and think she’s Anakin Skywalker reborn. Of course, hehe, I think we’ve got this wrapped up.” You nod, sitting on the bar with him. You call for a pair of drinks for him and Vikker. “Droids are back at the brothel with the ship if you want to know.”

“Thanks,” you say. With a loud boom, the podracers zoom off. Misri takes an early lead in front of the twenty other competitors. “Hey bartender.” The bartending droid turns around, looking at you. “What else we got to watch?”

He picks up a remote and flicks through a few channels on one of the spare TVs. Boring, boring, dull, no, cheesy, wait. “Wait, go back.” The bartender flips back to the previous channel, showing off the familiar smug sneer of Russ Qel-Dorn. He stands at a podium, addressing a crowd of graduating TIE Pilot cadets. “Ah, Russ. What are you getting yourself into this time?”

“… and I say this, as the premier TIE Fighter Ace of the Empire! You too can be like me! We will all serve the Empire with strength, unity, and courage as demanded from us by the Emperor!” he shouts. “I guarantee you glory through combat, and that each and every one of you will earn your place in the history books, as heroes of the Empire! Nothing will stop me, or the TIE Fighter Pilots! In just a few short hours, I will join you on your graduation flight in front of the Emperor himself!”

Vikker groans. “Someone needs to take him down a peg.” You nod, silently agreeing. Hm. Russ always did like to be the little Nexu in a crowd of Rancors. He looks over at you. “Can you believe that guy?”

“Yeah,” you say. “I can. Flight School was full of guys like him.”

“Ugh.” Vikker takes a sip of his drink. “I’ll keep watch on the race for you. Just relax.” He motions for the droid to switch back to the race, and he does.

Hm. What to do now? There’s so little-

Your holopad beeps. Huh? You pull it out, and out of the project comes the image of Warmaster Vizsla on her throne. “Mister Cykgil. I am glad that you are still alive and are in one piece.” Around her are Uggla, Lima, and Erma as usual, wearing the full armor sets that their status as her elite Nite Furies would require. “My informants in the Underworld tell me that you are in grave danger from Bounty Hunters.”

You smile a little. “Well, you better check your sources, I couldn’t be safer.”

“Hm.” She tilts her head, looking at you. “I am calling to simply check on you. You are a very valuable asset to me. It would be a shame if something were to happen to you.”

“Likewise.” She smirks, giving you a very coy look. You say, “So how are you girls doing, have you made any gains so far?”

Uggla raises her hand. “I can bench press Lima now.” She punches Lima on the arm, surprising her. “Ha! And I racked up another two kills in my Y-Wing!”

“Yeah, no one cares,” says Erma. “And certainly not Rhys. Take care, I am sure he is only asking because he wants something from you, Warmaster.” Erma, as cautious as you figured. You suppose she’s never going to get over how you broke her heart.

“If he wants something…” She runs her hand up her leg, giving you a very coy smile. “He can just ask. Do you want something from me?”

“Not at the moment,” you say. “Though, I do have to say that my progress on the darksaber is going to be a little slow. I’m finding myself busy lately.” You shrug, trying to make yourself casual. “Lot of jobs, all hush hush, can’t fill you all in on it.”

“Fair enough,” she says. “We already have other agents and hunters tracking down the Darksaber already.” Oh? Huh. Actually, you suppose that’s smart. Of course someone would hire multiple people to find something that important. “If you cannot find it, rest assured, I will find it myself eventually. I understand you are limited in resource and materiel, Mister Cykgil. It is a shame you are not one of the chosen like myself or my girls, I would shower you with everything you would need.”

“Can’t I be though?” you ask.

“Well, it all depends,” she says. “How much do you want it?” Erma clears her throat, glaring at the Warmaster. “But we are not recruiting men, unfortunately. We are the Daughters of Mandalore, and so we shall remain that way. However, until next time. Erma tells me we are close to raiding an Imperial shipment close to Carida. So if you’ll excuse us.”

“Of course, Warmaster.” She gives you a little wave, and the image fades.

Vikker stares at you. “You know she’s way too young for you, right?”

“I know,” you say. “That doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun.” He groans, going back to watching the race. You take a look at it yourself. Misri is still in first, in the second lap. She should have this wrapped up nicely. You look over to the window in the stands.

You blink. Uh oh. “Vikker.” He looks at you, then at the window. “What?”

“Trandoshan and Wookiee,” you say. “Watching the race.” The Trandoshan talks with the Wookiee, observing as the podracers fly right through the tunnel, barely acknowledging the blast of wind knocking over the other onlookers. The Wookiee growls at him, folding his arms. “They were at the gallery trying to hunt us down.”

“Oh, I know those two,” says Vikker. “Kublai and Madclaw. I hired them once.”

> Kublai and Madclaw <
> An unlikely bounty hunting duo. <

“What are they doing here?!” You quietly yell.

“They like podraces,” says Vikker. “Wait-“ Vikker slaps his forehead. “They’re hunting us aren’t they?” You nod. “Ugh… do they know I work with you?” You shrug. “Hm. Tough.”

> “Let’s just act casual. They might not notice us. They’re here to watch a podrace.”

“Just act casual. They’re here for a podrace, not us,” you say. You and Vikker go back to watching the race on the holoscreen. Oooh, one racer just crashed right into the side of a freighter. You actually note that while you were distracted, five of the racers were killed or crashed. Podracing is not for the faint of heart indeed. But through the holoscreen, you can see that Misri is taking in the speed and intensity with all the grace and finesse required of a good pilot.

Makes you want to buy her a Starfighter to work with. Might give her something to do other than fix things.

Third lap has come. You look back at Kublai and Madclaw, whom are cheering loudly, spilling booze and refreshments all over people. They’ve already gotten a nice little space for themselves, a danger zone of things flying out to splash people. You look over at Vikker, who shrugs. “They really like podracing.”

Third lap, final stretch. Another racer bites it trying to turn a shortcut. He flies right into an alleyway too narrow, and is crushed between two walls. Kublai whoops, jumping up into the air. Madclaw roars so loudly that you can hear him on the other side of the blasterproof glass. Sweat runs down your cheek as you relax into the “act casual” mode. They won’t notice you if you don’t notice them. Finally, Misri finishes first. A full 40,000 credits are now yours. The podracers brake to a halt, with the spectators clapping and cheering, the rumbling evident in your private little area.

Vikker claps happily. “She did it! Nice!”

Kuvasz places his hand on your shoulder and Vikker’s, making the two of you flinch. “She made it?” You nod. “Excellent! We should be good to go then! Hopefully we can get off of Coruscant soon.”

“One step at a time,” you say. “Now look, I-“

The bar door bursts open, Kublai and Madclaw step in, with Misri riding on Madclaw’s shoulders. “Drinks are on me!” yells Kublai. “I’m five thousand credits richer thanks to this Mysterious Stranger! Ha!” Kublai and Madclaw slap hands, and pump fists. “Bartender, a round of drinks for everybody in the stands!” That’s going to be way more than 5k but you’re not going to say that.

“Whooo!” Misri raises her hands in triumph. “I did it! I-“ You, Vikker, and Kuvasz look up at her, trying not to be noticed as the crowd comes flooding in. Her excitement and hype immediately disappear as she realizes what’s going on. “-gotta go!” She drops off Madclaw’s shoulder and immediately runs for the door.

“Hey!” Kublai grabs her collar, pulling her close. “What’s the rush!? I gotta talk to you about how you did it! No human podraces and lives!” he snarls excitedly. Madclaw roars in her face, splattering spittle and saliva over her cheeks. “… Madclaw says he’s a fan.”

“Really, boys.” Misri pulls away, smiling. “I gotta go. Business stuff.” She zips out the door. You, Kuvasz, and Vikker as well come out of the door as well, making for the hangar, leaving a very confused Kublai and Madclaw behind.

“There you go, 40k,” says the organizer. “Try not to spend it all in one place.” His holographic image disappears, as all of you are now gathered in Misri’s garage in the brothel. “Tell you what though, if Mis wants to race again, I’m open to it. She made me a lot of money today! Hahaha!”

“I’d love to!” says Misri. You look at her, sternly. She sighs. “But I can’t.”

“Alas, I’ll find other racers,” he says. “Until next time.” His image disappears.

No wonder people say podracing isn’t for humans!” You stop, looking at her. “… but we were almost caught by those bounty hunters, huh?”

“It’s a miracle they didn’t recognize you,” you say. “Things are getting dangerous around these parts,” you say.

>Force Adepts were Force-wielders of all species with varying powers and abilities. Some of these Force Adepts were known to wield Force weapons such as quarterstaffs imbued with the Force, which inflicted more damage and were able to withstand lightsaber blows. This generic concept of Force Adepts often depicted them with little to no formal Jedi training in the Force and often coming from primitive planets.
Misri is a textbook Force Adept.

“We’ll stay where we are. There’s no reason to uproot ourselves for now,” you say. “We’re not in any immediate danger in my opinion. Bounty Hunters we can take on our terms. But the Empire will take some time before they get down here and figure out where we are. By the time they do, we’ll be long gone,” you say.

“Right,” says Kuvasz. He nods to you, patting you on the shoulder, then walking up into the ship.

Misri crosses her arms, smiling at you. “So. We have ourselves a productive day then? 40k in the pocket, Jennis coming over to shop for us?” You nod at that. “Great.” She gently punches you on the arm. “Tell you what though, Rhys. I feel like things are looking up for us now. It feels like when we have a big treasure to hunt, things just fall together.”

“Believe me, I’d rather they not,” you say. “Now go on, fix up R3. He’s had a good day today.” She nods happily, then whistles for R3. R3 immediately wheels over to her, squeaking and beeping in sheer joy. “R3.” He turns his dome over to you. “You did good today, you saved my life even. Thank you.”

One long screech escapes from R3 as he spins his dome around. Misri laughs. “Aw, I know, he witnessed it. Come on, tough guy.” Misri rolls R3 into her garage, pulling a rag from her back pocket.

“Hey!” you call. She looks back, tilting her head. “No goodnight kiss?” You smirk at her. She rolls her head around. You wave your hand, giving a very cocky smile. “You will give me a goodnight kiss.”

She sighs. “Tempting, but no.” She gently pushes R3 on. “Come on, tough guy. I need to scrub that oil off you before it catches fire.” The two of them head into the garage.

You sigh, then look up at the sky from beneath the cracks of the buildings and skyscrapers. The night sky is suddenly blocked out by the arrival of a Star Destroyer. Something in your gut tells you that it’s here for you.

Thanks for running. Something tells me we should just hire a freighter big enough to fly us out, given lotte there and whatnot. That'll eat into the cash though, and with her in orbit you just know the bounty hunters are a coming. Probably have to go further down in the city and try to pull off one last job if we want to have enough cash left to upgrade (Greedy, I know). Its a shame we have a somewhat unique ship, while barloz's are common something tells me she's looking for one with an H-wing bolted on and that some jackass didn't change the name to (I know the registration is different, all that means is we didn't get arrested immediately after arriving). Given Misri's podrace experience would she want to try flying? After we escape and have a little downtime she could fly the A-wing with sparks assisting/mock fighting in an area with no asteroids and such. Speaking of Sparks is he gonna do the headpat at every opportunity now (or just when Misri's down or its cute)? Could we ask Misri to turn that temporary ECM unit on the A-wing into a real one?
>>
>>44657576
1. Misri does want to try flying. She does sneak into your R-22 and pretend to dogfight enemies when you're sleeping after all.

2. Sparks imitates what everyone's doing to try and feel included. It'll be a while before he realizes the significance of headpatting and that only Misri is for headpats.

3. The sensor jammer can be upgraded provided Misri finds the parts on her own. Which she did, thanks to some podracers "losing" their parts.

>Misri does want to try flying. She does sneak into your R-22 and pretend to dogfight enemies when you're sleeping after all.
Dawwwwwwwwww
>>
>>44657656
Did we keep the pod racer ?

Also any notiable upgrades?

No, the podracer is property of the race organizer and Misri thinks it's total junk anyway.

R3 will between threads however finally receive his targeting modifcations, allowing him to use weapons aboard the ship along with being able to be fitted with blasters and other weapons.
>>
>>44657858
We're not keeping the pod racer. Misri already has her custom swoop bike.
>>
>>44657908
When does love bloom in space?
>>
>>44657963
Implying it hasn't already bloomed between you and Warmaster Vizsla.
>>
>>44657977
Misri is best girl.

Warmaster.. is eh..

Uggla is adorable.
>>
>>44657977
Don't tell me she pulls flower petals as he loves me and he loves me not

Also erma is worried?

How excited is R3
>>
>>44657977
Is Misri actually (unconsciously) getting stronger in the Force as the story goes along and she does more stuff?
>>
>>44658002
>inb4 someone says they like Lotte
>>
>>44658035
Probably, but without formal training it's hard to do anything willfully.
>>
>>44658039
I actually liked her a lot more than Misri at first. Then.. she couldn't see why fucking Rhys over backwards would piss him off.

I can't stand her now.
>>
>>44658063
Lotte was a good girl and a fun m8 to be around, but she put the Empire ahead of her m8.
>>
>>44658024
1. Instead of flower petals, it's blasting apart targets with her WESTAR pistols.

2. Erma is always worried for the Warmaster. The Nite Furies as a collective are like one big sister to the Warmaster.

3. WITNESS HIM

>>44658035
1. Misri's connection to the Force is wholly dependent on how much she actually knows about it. It's really up to you if you want to teach her more.

>>44658039
I-... I like her.
>>
>>44658063
Yeah, Lotte -was- bretty gud

Then she quickly became an insufferable cunt.
>>
>>44658103
>Make a woman who cares for nothing but her career
>Pretend she actually gives a damn about the Empire and her friends.

Schteel plz.
>>
>>44658103
What Model is Lotte's ship?
>>
>>44658261
An Imperial I-class Star Destroyer named the ISD Balmoral. Fresh from the KDY Shipyards.
>>
>>44658289
>Imperial I-class Star Destroyer
http://pastebin.com/RS9czz8K

Well shit an additional 10,000 stormtroopers are heading our way.

So how good is she at commanding?
>>
>>44658340
Terrible. She's shit at her job and failed out of flight school. Her career is fucking over Rhys.
>>
>>44658340
We're about to find out. It's worth noting that Lotte technically flunked command school but still got passed through anyway because she flunked out as a pilot.
>>
>>44658340
>>44658363
Yeah, you're about to find out.
>>
>>44658363
>>44658363
JUST BARELY flunked out as a pilot, I should mention. She's a flygirl at heart.
>>
>>44658392
Y-yeah she could made that C- if she had just tried a little harder!
>>
>>44658375
Why do i get the feeling she'll end up like a country valley girl heading to the darkest crime ridden part of town?

Does she have any awareness on how the organized crime work?
>>
>>44658473
EVERYONE makes way for a star destroyer's worth of stormtroopers. Despite how much posturing there may be, no one crosses the Empire.
>>
>>44658473
Well she did manage to contact you through Vikker, combined with personally hiring Bounty Hunters herself as well being the one to offer you letter of marque. If anything, she's probably one of the Imperial Officers who likes working with the seedy underbelly of the Galaxy.
>>
>>44658515
I don't know what to make of her, she is rich and kind of posh but can handle the dark elements of what is essentially Space Detroit.

Technically knows Rhys's actions and acts accordingly but lacks awareness of what she is doing is making things worse.

I'l be frank, Lotte confuses the fuck out of me.
>>
>>44658632
She just can't understand that Rhys would willingly choose the scum and villainy over the Empire.
>>
>>44658632
Empire is the third Reich and she's a little German girl who grew up seeing the Nazi parades. She's convinced standing against them in any way is wrong/evil/bad.
>>
>>44658515
So how is Erma dealing with the Warmaster's crush?

Also I'm wondering why the Warmaster likes him? Is it because he shot her while she was down?
>>
>>44658701
1. Not well.

2. The Mandalorian people value strength in combat and in discipline. Warmaster Vizsla finds both in Rhys as she continues to hear of your exploits. You could say she basically fell in love the moment you threw that rock in her face.
>>
>>44658740
What exploits besides the attack on Filli's raiders we didn't do much in terms of exploits.
>>
>>44658740
How is she coping?
>>
>>44658862
Were you not here for Tatooine and the Crusaders?
>>
>>44658862
Exploits before the Quest started. Rhys is quite well-traveled including but not limited to:

- Defeating Black Swan and her squadron using only a TIE Scout.
- Defeating Oktovard's Z-95s also using only a TIE Scout.
- Evading famed droid bounty hunter C-21 Highsinger on Lothal.
- Some unexplained business on Naboo that means he can't ever go back there again.
- Invention of a dogfighting technique that has been unofficially adopted by veteran TIE Fighter squadrons and even some Rebel squadrons as well.
- First in the class of Flight School in a notoriously difficult curriculum.
- Running the blockade on Tatooine.
- Smuggling Runs through the Maw Cluster and the Kessel Run for the Hutt Cartel.

List goes on, it's been an eventful half and some change decade for Rhys before the Quest.

>>44658924
By trying to surround herself with girls like Lima and Uggla and hoping that she'll forget you even exist.
>>
>>44658946
That was us as support, through breaking the blockcade was something i guess.
>>
>>44658862
Well we did trash their ship after shooting Erma, like you said the Fili's raiders thing, and beat Vizsla in single combat (when she had the advantage). Plus the all rebels and such we'd killed before (Some news of that probably got around, though not in much detail I'm guessing. Killing those X-wings and escort cruiser is the sort of things spacers jaw relentlessly about, and we got a bounty for, etc. So that at least probably got back to them, as they were searching for us.)
>>
>>44658977
So lesbian orgies?
>>
>>44659006
I said surround herself, not cover herself. Erma's too pure for that.
>>
>>44658977
So he pissed off the local Gungan population or promote Jarjar Binks
>>
>>44659032
But not enough to not ride Rhy's joystick.

Also is her method of coping working?
>>
>>44659055
Not really. Most of the Furies aren't natively Mandalorian so they aren't as enthusiastic about the culture like Erma so even if she does surround herself with cute girls, all they want to do is cute things.

>>44659036
Gungans have something to do with it.
>>
>>44659136
I'm surprised after months? of being on the Baltoz, That Misri haven't made her own ship from spare parts and scraps.
>>
>>44659311
She doesn't have everything just yet. Spare parts and scrap are nothing without the relevant parts which simply aren't available.

Plus, she doesn't want to read on Rhys' toes by building a fighter of her own. She'll wait for your permission.
>>
>>44659348
But wouldn't she have develop some juryrig or makeshift stuff to get the know how though?
>>
>>44659425
It's more about the fact that she'd rather be flying something that wasn't previously just a pile of scrap and isn't liable to come apart due to uneven weld seams or anything. She's confident, but not that confident.
>>
>>44659442
Ah good point. Though her getting a starship will be a problem since no one will sell to us since we betrayed the empire.
>>
>>44659477
On the contrary, you might be able to pick out some beaters and junkers from select dealers on Smuggler's Haven now that word has gone out that you're on the lamb.
>>
>>44659500
Oh will Jeanne have something in store for us? Customer appeciation and all that.

Will it be cheap for a fix-me-uppe or will that even be available?
>>
>>44659562
She might have something for you, we'll see in the next thread.
>>
>>44659587
I hope its something before the clone wars though knowing you it will be a Jedi Star Fighter.
>>
>>44659712
When I see beater or junker, I mean beater or junker.

Anyway, it's late, so I'll head to sleep from here. Night anon.

Those ETA-2s were pretty damn slick, though, if we could get a hold of one.
>>
>>44659999
I was thinking the original star fighter though imagine R3 co piloting.
>>
>>44660126
Yeah, but the Actis fits Rhys better than an Aethersprite.
>>
>>44660148
But it's not for Rhy's its for Misri.
>>
>>44660188
And Misri's a similar race driver type.
>>
>>44660303
but wouldnt the aetherspite work just as well for her?
>>
>>44660352
Eta-2 atmo speed: 1500kmh
TIE/LN: 1200
Delta 7: 1150
>>
>>44660395
Ah, I see but wouldn't something a bit easier to handle work better for a newbie space fighter?
>>
>>44660521
If she can ace pod racing first try a fighter's no biggie.
>>
>>44660549
I guess but I'm hoping for a Naboo Fight or Z95 head hunter.

Or maybe a lesser known ship
