LAST TIME ON JEDI APPRENTICE QUEST

We met a very pleasant old man and his Wookiee companion. Turns out they're with the giant Republic vessel floating over our heads.

A bit of sweet talk later and Zev and Renari find themselves onboard the ship, but it's not fun and games for long before we're dragged into a battle!
>>
>>44650939

"Did you just make me a Jedi Commander?" You ask Tikran, your head tilting to the side in amazement that seems seems to honestly trust you that much.

"Mhm. You can handle it Zev, I believe in you, and you wouldn't want to let me down, would you?" The Master replies in her sweet tone.

You don't want to of course, Tikran has been putting her faith in you since day when you came to the Academy. Teaching you as much as she could, putting you on the right path towards becoming a better Jedi. The last thing you want to do is let her down, least of all when it's something so important like this.

"Thank you, Master, I won't disappoint you, I promise." Giving her a small but respectful bow.

As you finish up your conversation regarding what the plan might be for the battle, the crew announces that they're dropping from hyper space, and the captain once more repeats through the comm that all hands should be at their battles stations.

Moving forward towards the view port, you're greeted with the sight of an incredible number of Imperial ships in front of you, with Republic vessels warping into existence seemingly every other second, already the two forces starting to engage each other.

The Battle of Rabaan has begun.

Already the immediate area in front of you is being lit up with a large variety of colors, turbolasers, ion cannons, every weapon that a ship has is currently being used in this frantic battle, and there really isn't much you can do right now to help.

focus on feeling out the way the force is moving throughout the battle to get a general idea of what's going to go down, see if anyone is utilizing the force on the opposing side, feel out how our soldiers are feeling, things like that. just keep aware of the entire battle as a whole

Still watching from the viewport on the bridge, you're able to see as the squadrons of fighters pour out from the belly of the ship, much the same way with the various other vessels that are across the horizon in front of you. You've had zero experience whatsoever as a pilot, so trying to assist in that way is completely out of the question. Master Tikran and Master Coltuc are going to be leaving the ship very soon as well, and they've left you 'in charge' as the acting Jedi commander for this ship. There's a heavy responsibility on your shoulders right now... and if you can't help directly, you might as well put your brain to work.

Stepping over to the holo-map, you're able to see the battlefield in it's simulated form, hundreds of ships of various sizes across both sides of the conflict starting to engage each other. The classroom tactics course didn't cover starship battles very well yet, you're mostly just having to think and try to figure things out on your own as you look. Still, you've got an idea brewing in your mind... something you might be able to do that could at least calm your own nerves.

Closing your eyes, you try to center and calm yourself, steadying your breathing and opening yourself up to The Force as you concentrate on the battle at hand.

It's a real mess out there, lifes being snuffed out in an instant, the fear, chaos, hatred, so many emotions being broadcast from everyone. You can feel the Republic and Imperial soldiers, all of them, wanting only to make it through this, or to smash their enemy, they're all people.

You...

With how easily you're able to sense all of the fighting taking place, a bit more concentration and you think you can narrow things down enough to find the Sith, and maybe some of the other Jedi that are in the battle as well.

"Zev?" Renari speaks, almost breaking your concentration, until you hear Tikran shush her.

Taking another deep breath, you once more try to focus, letting The Force guide you towards the people that you're searching for, and one by one, the... glow of The Force is leading you.

A sudden flash and you find yourself no longer standing in front of the holo-map, instead you're... floating behind a large man in black armor, two smaller humanoids beside him also encased in armor, all three of them carrying lightsabers. You're able to stay here for several moments, looking at instruments and being able to pinpoint where the ship is.

"The strongest one... he's here." You mutter, extending your hand and pointing at one of the ships on the holo-map. "He's strong... really strong." Your eyes snap open once again, finding yourself back next to Renari and Master Tikran. You've got a bad feeling about this, that man, he was like a whirpool of darkness, swirling around him with the two smaller Sith feeding more of the darkness into him.

"Zev, what did you see?" Tikran asks, stepping forward and placing a hand on your shoulder, a look of concern on her face.

Shaking your head a few times you try to get yourself back to normal before answering "Three Sith, on a ship, I think it was a Master and his apprentices. I think he might be the commander." At your answer, Tikran hums and looks to the holo-map, eyeing the ship that you pointed out. "I believe you've just given the strike team their destination, thank you Zev." She says, giving you a few small pats on the back.

"Are you gonna be able to take him Master? I mean, that guy didn't feel like anything I've ever experienced before. His apprentices... I think they were... somehow making him stronger? It felt like they were empowering him." You explain to Tikran, having a bit of trouble actually concealing your obvious concern for her safety. She's... well, you don't really know what Tikran is to you, but she's someone important, and you don't want to lose her to some Sith hound if you can help it.

"My my... so concerned for me Zev?" The Togruta asks, lightly chuckling as she pats you a few more times. "Do try to remember, my dear Padawan, I am a Jedi Master, one on the council at that. It will take more than a servant of the Dark Side to take me away." She gives you a warm, motherly smile before finally removing her hand from your shoulder. "Besides, you have your own dangers to face without worrying about me. I'll be counting on you to keep the ship and Renari safe."

With that, she steps away from you, just as Master Coltuc seems to have finished speaking with Captain Sayber about some matter. "We all ready to go 'Ran?" The other Master asks, having seen the two of you speaking.

"Indeed Col, the sooner we finish this the better." She replies, the two of them heading for the turbo lift.

"Be safe, you hear me Master!" You call after her, which gets you another smile in return, before the two vanish down to the hangar bay.

Well... back to not really having anything to do besides thinking and meditating. Once more surrendering yourself to The Force, you're able to feel the surrounding battle yet again, all of the people struggling against one another. It's still a mess out there, and you can't actually identify which side is winning so far.

Give us an overview of the battlefield.
>>
>>44654555
This >>44654580 we need to know how our forces compare to theirs and the location of the ship with the Sith Lord.
>>
For the moment you need to try to think of a strategy, something that you can use to actually help the Captain and the rest of the ships that are currently engaging the Empire. Thinking back to your lessons, and what you picked up over the years by listening to vets of the war on Nar Shadda, a few important snippits are coming back into your thoughts. Imperial ships generally have stronger weapons than their Republic counterparts, due in part to their overloading the tech, but they fired slower compared to a Republic ship, and generally their speed was slightly lower as well. They valued a barrage of firepower to overwhelm an enemy force, while Republic stratey was more adapted to a longer, drawn out battle in which they were able to manuever and coordinate.

Currently, the Empire still outnumbered the total force of the Republic that was present, yet no more Imperial vessels were arriving, while the Republic was adding strength to the fleet and bringing in fresh vessels, ones that hadn't yet been damaged. Unless something drastically changes though, the influx might not be enough, the ships are simply replacing ones that have been disabled and are no longer able to fight, several have even been outright destroyed, while the Empire still has a majority of their forces in top shape.

If you had to wager...

The longer the fight goes on, the better chance the Republic might have, but it' going to be a struggle to actually get things to that point without losing a majority of your forces, let alone the fact that the Empire could have another fleet incoming at any moment.

>CONT
>>
>>44654555
Okay, how about we somehow position our ships to broadside the imperial ships while leaving them unable to broadside us?
>>
>>44654555

"Concentrate all fire on the super star destroyer"
"Intensify forward deflectors"
"It's a trap!"
"Ramming speed"

just kidding. Who has the upper hand anyway? What sort of objective can the empire have here? Just wipe out defending fleet or smuggle some dropships or bombers planetside?
>>
If you were going to win this battle, the Republic needs to consolidate their forces and prepare for what might come next.

A few things come to mind as to what you could do, though, really, you aren't entirely sure what might be the best.

Temporary retreat, try to wait until more ships arrive, though that could allow for the Empire to have a foothold in the system.

Hit and run tactics, abuse the superior speed of Republic ships along with slower firing Imperial weapons. It'd take a while, but that could result in a victory.

Concentrated fire could result in scoring some major blows, but at the same time if ships are no longer engaging other Empire vessels, they could be leaving themselves open to attack.

Lastely, and perhaps the most dangerous, would be to wait and see if Tikran and the strike force are able to take out the leadership, then strike when the head of the enemy has been taken out, it's a gamble though, and one that might cost a lot of lives

What to do...

>Write in
>>
>>44654643
Imperial capital ships don't do broadside as much as front-side(?) no? Their triangle ships tend to have all the turrets able to be fire forward.

Until reinforcement arrives then isolate and eliminate ships one by one.

Currently the Empire has the upper hand due to the fact they arrived in a blitz and erradicated the majority of the forces around the planet. The Republic is just now getting their reinforcements into position to strike back.

It appears the current objective of the Empire is to either cause as much havoc as possible and destroy Republic vessels, or possibly the first wave of an invasion force.

While were doing this, position our ships to flank them with the ships that are inbound to create a surprise pincer maneuver.

Might as well. Might help to spread the fleet out and force imps to do the same, but try not to end on the wrong side of enemy fleet in case their reinforcements arrive... meaning keeping back to the gravity well, right?

>MARG SABL
>>
>>44654838
>The ship(s) executing the Marg Sabl would close at high speed against an enemy force. At the last moment, the ship(s) would angle their hulls against the enemy's attack vector, protecting its fighter groups as they sortie. These fighters would then form up and, concealed by the hull of the ship, conduct a flanking maneuver to attack the enemy ships; if the enemy commander is unaware of the maneuver, his fighters and point defenses would be unable to respond in time.

>It was a simple maneuver that was obvious to spot, but when properly executed, it had a highly unstructured attack profile. As a result, most experienced opponents would not fall for it, though species with a psychological blind spot for unorthodox tactics, such as the Elomin or simple-minded OOM command battle droids, would. In the case of the former, the Elomin forces retreated, exposing themselves to complete destruction. In the case of the latter, the droids pressed their ineffectual assault, pinning themselves between the hull of the ship and the flanking fighters, which attacked from all sides.
>>
Allow me to weigh in.

If the Republican ships are *slightly* faster but have a higher sustained firepower compared to the imperial volley-fire....

Why would we wish to engage in short bursts, where the imperials can safely go through a fire-cooldown/rearm/reload/whatever they call it in space-fire cycle?

Wouldnt it be better to move as much as we can towards one flank and then slowly work our way in, not giving any respite?
>>
Think of it more like constant shifting of position and peppering the imperial vessels with fire, rather than a direct exchange of firepower
>>
>>44654877
Because we are outnumbered. Attacks like that work when you have roughly equal or superior numbers.

But...why would we want to that? If Republic ships are favoured in straight up gun-fights (as long as they dont explode from imperial concentrated fire) then why wouldnt we go into direct exchanges of firepower?

Wouldnt the Imperials prefer short bouts where they can concentrate a full volley on a small number of ships and destroy them while the Republic wishes to disrupt the enemy fleet formation and turn it into a large amount of essentially duels where the Imperial guns cannot overwhelm the Republic ships fast enough?

Am I simply misunderstanding everything
>>
>>44654877
You're suggesting something like crossing the T, finding a firing position where as many of our ships can bring their full weight of fire to bear and as few of theirs can as possible.

That tactic loses effectiveness the less regimented and saturated the battle line is. For example crossing the T at Surigao Straight was only nominal as the IJN lines were so sloppy and depopulated the advantage gained was insignificant. If the other fleet is dispersed or chooses to disperse upon noticing our fleet's end run, the maneuver ends up meaningless.
>>
>>44655069
Well, crossing the T also looses most of its bite when the majority of enemy firepower is not found in broadsides.

Can we focus on the various Imperial ship commanders? Figure out what they're feeling/what they're about to do?

If we can just point at a ship and say 'Bluffing' or 'About to attack' we can let the actual strategist make those vital last second tactical movements.
>>
Guys, we should totally do a Marg Sabl

"Captain?" You finally speak, breaking your meditation and once more opening your eyes to view the bridge.

Captain Sayber has been speaking to one of his officers about something, but when you spoke to him, the man turned to face you. "Yes son?" Figuring that if you were going to get his attention, that you had something worthwhile to say.

"It's not really my place to tell you how to do your job, but I think I've got an idea that just might let us hold out until reinforcements arrive." You tell the man, who looks rather intrigued by what you've said. "Can't promise it'll work, but it's the best thing I've managed to come up with."

Adjusting his cap, Captain Sayber glances from you to Jhoruura, the Wookiee giving a series of growls in support of listening to you. "Well all right, let's hear it then. If a Jedi is gonna offer advice I ain't the type of fella to discount it." He replies, giving you a nod and a go ahead to speak.

Moving around to the terminal where the holo-map controls are, you key in a few commands. "The way I see it sir, we aren't going to last long against them at this rate, but we can at least buy some time if we abuse our advantages." You begin while bringing up a simulation of your plan on the holo-map, overriding the current display of the battle. "We've got the superior speed, why not go for a hit and run style of attack? If we keep our engines running at full speed we might not be able to unleash a broadside at complete strength, but we can avoid their heavy turbo-lasers. Our shields should probably be able to deal with the rest of their weapons while we give 'em hell from the sides. Might be able to even take out an engine or two."

Let me get on the Coms with a few other captains and we'll see if we can manage it, in the mean-" He's suddenly cut off as an officer from down at one of the stations yells up to you.

"Sir! Incoming Imperial shuttles, they've sent a boarding party that managed to slip under our sensors! Two of them are currently landing in hangar bay three!" The young woman shouts.

"Blast it!" The captain growls, turning back to you. "Zev, I need you and your friend down there to repel any invaders. If they've got a Sith with them, my boys aren't gonna stand a chance."

Glancing to Renari, you can see the girl... doesn't appear to be all there, she's simply looking out of the viewport and something doesn't feel right about her. "Rena?" You ask, getting her attention. "You all right?"

"Hnn? Y-yeah... I've just... never felt anything like this before, a battle like this. It feels like it's causing such an incredible disturbance in The Force." She replies, biting her bottom lip as she comes over to stand next to you.

Well, that'll have to do for the moment. "We'll handle it Captain, but can we take Jhoruura with us? He knows his way around the ship and Nar Shadda rules says you always want the Wookiee on your side when push comes to shove." You ask, glancing to the large furball. Jho is already grabbing his bowcaster and moving to go with you, seems like he made up his mind fairly easily. "Granted, now get down there and give 'em hell will ya? I don't take kindly to Imperials on my ship. A security team will meet you in the hangar." The captain replies, then turning to once more look to the screens in front of him feeding the man information on the battle.

With Renari and Jho at your side, a quick rush over to the turbo lift has the three of you heading down to the hangar bay, and what could be your first real battle.

"Zev... what are we gonna do?" Renari asks from your side. She's scared of this, likely from the idea of you being hurt or killed, like the conversation you had earlier. You promised her nothing bad was going to happen, and you're damn sure not going to let some Sith bastard take you out.

Taking the blaster pistol out of your waistband that the Captain gave you, you give the weapon a look over as you come up with an answer for Renari.

When you've finished inspecting the blaster, you give it a few spins in your fingers, finally tucking the weapon back into your waistband "I'll try to hold off any Sith that are in the hangar, while you assist Jho and the task force in dispatching soldiers. Might not be a Knight, but I should be able to hold my own with Makashi long enough for you to step in and help me when you finish, or things start to look bad." You say to the girl as you now draw your yellow dueling lightsaber. Tikran said that this thing would function well enough for you to defend yourself since she modified it, but it wouldn't be as good as a fully functional lightsaber, hopefully that won't proveto be toomuch of an issue, and you might even be able to pick up one from a Sith, if push comes to shove.

Concentrating, you put up a force barrier around yourself, one of the first lessons you actually got from Tikran. It was going to be dangerous in there, but you believed in yourself and Renari... plus the Wookiee you had standing behind you was a bit of a motivator.

"Right... right. I'll help get rid of the troopers and help you if you need it." Renari replies, giving you a small nod. She pauses for a few seconds, then leans up and kisses you on the cheek. "Stay safe Zev." She softly says.

"Hey, you know me, I'm the best Jedi in the galaxy, ain't nothing gonna bring me down just yet." You say, shooting her a reassuring grin as you prepare yourself.

You can feel a concentration of Force energy on the other side of the door as you arrive at the hangar, a swelling feeling of... darkness, corruption, evil.

When it opens, you're greeted to the sound of blaster fire, crates stacked up and Republic soldiers crouched down behind them exchanging fire with Imperial troopers across the hangar bay. "Oi! Over here!" A soldier shouts to you, just as you move your head out of the way of a blaster bolt.

Part of you says charge into the fray, but the other, more rational side of your brain says go speak to the soldier that called you over. Grabbing Renari's sleeve, you sprint from the turbo lift, dragging her along with you as Jho follows as well, firing his bowcaster towards the Imperials.

Making your way over to the soldier, you crouch down behind cover, once more pulling Renari with you. "You the Jedi we heard about? Cap'n said you'd be coming our way." The soldier says, before moving over to the side and laying down fire onto the enemy. "Corporal Geers, I'm in charge since the Sarge got hit, guess it goes to you now though." He says once he's back around cover and looking to you.

You can smell the burning atmosphere around you from the blaster fire is more than you've ever experienced even on Nar Shadda, and as the Corporal looks to you... you're not entirely sure what he might be expecting.

"You see any Sith with the boarding party Corporal?" You ask the man as you try to keep your head down, really not wanting your career as a Jedi to be cut this short simply because you decided to get in the way of a stray blaster bolt.

"I can feel him Zev, he's here somewhere... but it's too chaotic, I can't tell where." Renari comments from your side, trying to peek over the boxes, only to yelp and duck before she's nearly shot. Jho is having a better time than either of you in regards to avoiding fire, the Wookiee shootig down anyone that even decides to mess with him by taking aim, if they shoot once, they aren't getting to shoot again.

The Corporal in front of you takes a moment to catch his breath, then nods "Yeah, I think at least. Saw a fellow in black armor slip out of the shuttle behind all the troopers, dunno where he went." The man replies.

Before you can even think about where the sith might have gone, you're given a clear answer when you hear the scream of a Republic soldier as she's sliced down her front by a red blade. Further down the hangar, you're able to see him. Dressed in light black armor, much the same as you saw the Sith commander in when you had your vision, holding his lightsaber and standing over the corpse of the fallen soldier.

Well

If nothing else you've found your Sith, there's something to be said about that. At least you aren't going to have to scour the entire hangar to find where he's at. "Hey, Corporal... gimme a few grenades would ya?" You ask the man, who merely nods and hands you two fragmentation grenades.

"If this gets me killed, tell Tikran I went out like a huge hero, would ya Rena?" You ask the redhead, before leaning over and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "What are you planning Zev?" She asks as you strap the grendaes to your belt. "Oh, y'know, just gonna do what I do best, stay here for a minute yeah?" You reply before bursting from behind the piece of cover and diving behind another crate closer to the Sith.

"Mucha shaka paka, dah dee dunga poodoo!" You yell out to the Sith, mostly calling him and his Mother a few bad words in the Twi'leki language, for once thankful for your raising on Nar Shadda and all the things you picked up.

"What the... what did you just call me you rat?" The sith growls, picking up a box with the Force and flinging it towards your cover

"Mochu chuuchuuska, moto debanta ne rala! Gfersh frell!" The next reply comes out in Rodese, though you aren't exactly able to mimick a proper Rodian voice, the message still gets across well enough you think.

You can hear the Sith stepping towards you, and can practically feel the hatred rolling off of him.

"I'll gut you!"

"No habla baseek, como estas?"

Considering how the Sith work, you may have made a mistake.

>FORCE POINT BURNED, TWO REMAIN

"So do they hand that armor out to all of the Sith, or is it just special snowflakes like you that get it?" You ask the Sith as you prepare a grenade in your hand, priming it so that it'll be ready to detonate when you release it. "Cause seriously man, the hell is that outfit, didn't know the Sith dug black leather that much."

In a sudden burst of speed, the Sith leaps forward towards you "Silence worm!"

Seeing his attack coming a mile away, you sprint off from your hiding spot behind the boxes, dropping the grenade behind you as a present. Just as you clear away from what had been your cover, and the Sith lands, he sees the grenade, wrapping his cloak around himself.

As the explosion goes off, you can't help but grin and activate your lightsaber. They always fall for the taunting trick when they get mad.

"I mean, me personally? I'm more a fan of something that breathes better, I do like the cloak though." You say, giving a Makashi salute as the dust clears and you're able to see that the Sith is relatively unharmed by the blast, though his cloak could certainly stand to be replaced now.

"Shall we dance?" You ask, extending your blade towards him as he looks at you, his eyes burning with hatred.

"Wait, sorry, just remembered I don't dance" You say with a smile as the Sith charges at you with his saber held high. You're standing in a typical Makashi stance, one hand held behind your back, legs spread, ready to duel as a gentleman would.

Of course, instead of actually doing that, you pull out the blaster you had tucked away in your waistband, bringing it up in a blur of motion and squeezing off three shots at the Sith. You can see the confusion, and even a hint of fear in his eyes as he tries to deflect the shots, barely managing to bat the one that was coming for his head out of the way, but your other two shots strick true, impacting his shoulder and his leg.

Crying out in pain, the Sith drops to one knee, barely able to stop himself from rolling along the floor. "B-Bastard... you would use a coward's weapon against a Sith?" He growls.

"Oh you better believe it, Nar Shadda don't raise no fools. Use whatever you've got in your corner to win, even if you have to play dirty." You reply, still aiming the blaster at him, ready to fire again when he suddenly throws his hand out, sending a wave of energy at you that makes the blaster fly from your hand and clatter along the floor behind you.

"No tricks! We fight like warriors! Show me your strength Jedi, before I tear you to pieces!" He roars, getting back onto his feet. The blaster shots weren't fully effective, his armor having absorbed quite a bit of the damage, but you can tell he's in pain with that arm and shoulder, might just be an opening that you need to take him out.

No, go with what you said in your post:
>>44658699

It's not up to the majority, it's up to the individuals who chose to use force speed on their rolls.
>>

>>44658733
He doesn't get to use Force Speed on that roll, he had his chance to use it, and he missed it.

If he's giving us the vote option means we can proc it after the rolls.
>>

>>44659002
Then that's inconsistent with what he's said. He said if we wanted to use Force Speed, we would have to say we wanted to use it the post.
>>44658718 did not include that, so it didn't use the Force Speed.
>>
Called, writing now

Force Speed rules will be clarified for next thread
>>
>>44659034
Then he worded it poorly, so what? He's obviously saying that it can be used after rolling, look a couple of posts above you retard.
>>
Guys, why don't we just save the Force Speed and use >>44658714 which met the higher DC?
>>
>>44659044
So which are we using, >>44658714 or >>44658718 ?
>>
>>44659068
Because I'm guessing a crit-charge is gonna be better than a trip&charge pass and you dont often get a free crit with force speed.
>>
>>44659068
I wanna hit him hard and lower his ability to fight immediately with that crit.

>>
"No."

Charging the wounded Sith down, you can tell he's both in a terrible mood and suffering from your earlier blaster bolts. He's favoring one leg over the other, a horrible thing for him to have to deal with considering your smooth and quick fighting style.

As the two of you clash blades, he snarls at you, pushing back against your attack with both of his arms as you struggle against him... until you de-activate your lightsaber and slip past him, avoiding his attack and igniting your blade again, drawing it across his so far un-wounded arm, slicing through his arm and burning him.

He cries out in pain, the arm dropping to his side and his lightsaber nearly falling, just managing to keep it in his grasp as you back off and gain a bit of distance between the two of you after your attack. You might have cut through several of his muscles, as the limb is simply hanging at his side.

"You... I'll kill you!" The sith roars, extending his 'good' arm and blasting you with a wave of lightning, barely being able to get your blade up in time to partly defend yourself, but you can still feel the electricity zapping you, burning and singing your skin and clothing. Gritting your teeth, you aren't sure how much longer you can actually hold off against this sort of attack!

It won't necessarily change the intensity of the lightning just heading towards us, and depending on the roll he may or may not stop trying, but regardless our saber is in front of us, so instead of pushing away we should skewer him.

Growling, you try to ward off the lightning as best you can, wanting to protect yourself from the barrage until you can figure out a plan of attack, or some sort of a counter to his lightning, but it's so damn hard to even concentrate with this pain, and it's only getting worse the more you try to fight him off. Bastard might not have been a good duelist, but this stuff hurts!

"Enough!" You finally yell, feeling something building up inside of you, a power, a strength, something you can't control, beggint to be let loose.

So you free it.

With a roar, energy flows off of you in a wave, the Sith looking in confusion at the sudden burst of power, before he's sent flying across the hangar, all the way until he impacts with the wall on the other side, denting into it with his body, the man letting out a groan before he falls down to the ground, either unconcious, or dead.

The surrounding area was affected by your explosion of Force energy as well, boxes, ships, even a few troopers being flung about, and now, all eyes are on you, no more blasters firing.

We got a crit which probably helped. Also we managed to trick him into taking a grenade to the face, which even if he was armored was a pretty big hit.
>>
>>44660107
I want it to shoot lightsaber blades.
>>
>>44660113
If you ask me it was 50/50. The dice helped but we didnt go full HURRRRR CHARGE HIM. We chipped away some of his health with the grenade trick and the blaster trick and then we confronted him, so basically we made him super-aggressive while fighting defensively to wear him down and deliver the final blow. However the dice gave us a crit with force speed which was pretty cool (since I believe a 2 handed lightning would probably would've wrecked our shit up considering he managed to hold us at bay with just 1 hand) so all in all it was a bit of strategy and a bit of dice being helpful.
>>
>>44660204
This. The guy had no idea what he'd just gotten himself into fighting us, nevermind the fact that we were probably evenly matched to begin with. Throw in the crit and he had no chance.
>>
>>44660204
>>44660257
Zev/We're a very effective and clever fighter.

We fought dirty, we riled him up, shot him, blew him up, and even did that Lightsaber on off trick to get past his defenses.

Zev might not be incredibly skilled yet, but he's intelligent enough to fight above his weight level.
>>
>>44660296
Remember, common sense is a super power.
>>
>>44660296
I do agree to a certain degree, I dont think we're immune to raw power just by being resourceful however it gives us a slight edge because everybody is expecting us to be one of the retarded jedi drones that just fight head on and if they get outskilled die. Combine that with the general affinity to the force we are showing and it makes for a killer combo.
>>
>>44660377
I still say we should have gotten a double bladed lightsaber. It'd be so useful when it comes to fucking with people
>>
>>44660435
I dont agree with that. Considering we are a pretty mean force user one handed is the best idea, since most of our tricks and traps can be used with our free hand (the blaster is a prime example of that).
>>
>>44660476
That blaster shit is gonna be a dangerous thing to have on our side.

Literally no one will expect it, and even if they're good at blocking, it's still a sudden and out of nowhere move.
>>
>>44660492
Yeah because the whole idea of a jedi using a blaster is so unexpected that most people will get confused just by the sight of it, that's the beauty of it. You shock them with an unexpected outcome, their brain freezes trying to make sense of the situation and pewpew leg off.
>>
>>44660505
Ofc this is only working because we're relatively unknown, if we keep leaving marks of our existance sooner or later the blaster trick will get old, but my idea is that by then we will have a proper training and our knowledge in the force/fighting prowess will be enough to rival any enemy we face.
>>
>>44660505
Well, the force really helps in terms of negating the blaster fire, but even if they block it successfully it'll be so jarring that it'll fuck their game up depending on how experienced they are.

But someone who is skilled and experienced in using the force will probably have both the speed and precognitive abilities to not get shot. I mean, come on, you can block blaster fire without using eyesight or anything, even from behind, and that isn't the super advanced shit you learn from actually doing it for years.
>>
>>44660541
>But someone who is skilled and experienced in using the force will probably have both the speed and precognitive abilities to not get shot.
Given, but it's still an angle of attack they have to devote effort and attention to.
>>
>>44660541
You see, the factor you're not paying mind is that he is not expecting blaster fire, his attention is towards something else, and the sight of a jedi using a blaster is something that will disrupt his concentration, concentration is key for the use of the force and even if it's only a nanosecond to readjust his brain to the new event that happened it will be enough to get a couple shots on him.

Like charging against a bulk of soldiers might make him prepare even if unconsciously against blaster fire, but charging against a jedi the least you're expecting is a blaster. You're preparing yourself to get hit by a lightsaber or even forcepowers, but you certainly are not thinking "he's gonna pop a blaster and shoot me" like a trooper would.
>>
>>44660590
>>44660599

I seriously brushed over that in my post. Briefly, but I acknowledged it. Shit.

What I also brought up is that it isn't a conscious action, the force tells them "block here, bad shit" and they do it, it's pretty similar to lightsaber combat as well. And the opening made will probably be too small to exploit by anyone who has been fighting in serious conflicts for a year or two.

It's not a matter of divided focus, it's a matter of rapidity, can we do it fast enough that they can't react/move in time, which is beyond fast considering how quickly a normal person can move their arms, let alone someone who can artificially increase their speed with the force.

One example is Mace Windu, whose fighting style allowed him to move so quickly you could see multiple arms moving simultaneously from different directions.

That is a very extreme example though. What I'm saying is it won't be worth much of anything against a true threat, a master grade combatant or higher. Even as surprise it won't do much, and they would recover incredibly quickly because even if it's a jedi using a blaster, it's still just a blaster.
>>
>>44660684
I seriously doubt we will be pitted against master-tier siths so soon, not only because we're scrubs (who the fuck would send their top combatants to massacre the kindergarten) but because if eail did that the whole quest would go to the shitter, since it's basically impossible that we can really defeat a master and there's no real reason why the sith master wouldnt kill us. It would be dc 15 in every fucking roll or something ridiculous we cannot achieve, and nobody would really blame eail because it's a fucking sith master.

However on the distant future, us being pitted against a master, do we really need a blaster? Probably not. This is just a device to survive the early game until we become a fully fledged jedi.
>>
>>44660885
I'm just saying, mang.

People seem to be overestimating the value of the blaster.

We will need a lot of cheap tricks other than it.
>>
>>44660914
Every little bit counts and I dont see them overestimating it. Most of the stuff I read about it is just sneaking in a couple of shots to weaken him enough so that we are on par/above him, nobody is saying that blaster is our killer move or anything outrageous like that.
>>
>>44660959
>Most of the stuff I read about it is just sneaking in a couple of shots to weaken him enough so that we are on par/above him

And I was saying that it probably won't work against someone who is actually not a scrub.

Will it force them to block or open up distance, sure, but it probably won't land a debilitating, crippling, or even solid hit. It's more of an "oh shit, back away" move than a "gonna fuck dis nigga up" move.
>>
>>44660885
A blaster could still be put to good use once we're very skilled, just not as simply as our current, "Surprise! Capped your ass, bitch," antics. Even if an opponent knows our reputation for carrying one, they won't be adept at combatting due to utter lack of experience with what's essentially an entirely new lightsaber style. Meanwhile we're already fully aware of what we can and can't do with the thing in combat because we've been using it since day one.

Just to be clear, idc if we ditch the thing. Just arguing it wouldn't be useless if we decide to keep it and git gud.
>>
>>44660988
And I am saying that we're talking about strategy against people we can actually fight which is low-medium fighters. If we find someone that can block blaster fire unconsciously chances are no matter how many tricks we have up our sleeve we're gonna get destroyed, so there's no point in thinking about that.
>>
>>44660993
I dont think that even if you get proficient with a blaster you can defeat a trained sith with it unless we surprise him. And one that is as trained as >>44660988 says would just have a weapon that is totally negated even if we're han-solo level of blaster handling.
>>
>>44660993
Also they are used to fighting blasters, soldiers carry ranged weapons and sith get pitted against them to tip the balance.
>>
>>44661017
>block blaster fire unconsciously

That is literally every Jedi/Sith who has had formal training and combat experience

The training involved includes being blindfolded or deprived of senses and using only the force to block from one, if not multiple flying droids attacking quickly from moving positions.

The sith we fought was an absolute scrub at it because obviously he had the crash course but never finished the damn thing.
