Which mechanus adept had a malfunction when making this part of the ship
>>
>>44712971
Couldn't you just make sure you are not in the warp and flip one to see which it is?
>>
>>44712971
I suppose if I'm the cyborg mechanic person I'd just manually check behind the panel for where each of the wires are going in whatever fashion is ritually prescribed.
>>
leave em both on. hang some sheets over the lights if we require darkness.
>>
>>44713053
This is the answer

Suppose you have less than the prerequisite 29 years required to properly appease the machine spirit in such a way that you may be allowed to look beneaths it's panels (you will be expected to at the very least buy the ship dinner, and bring it roses), then what do you do?
>>
Just turn them both off and on quickly. What's the worst thing that could happen?

>>44712971
the answer is simple: put a blessed lock on the panel and declare all attempt to alter the configuration further to be heretechal

Compare the relative lengths of the labels to the markings left behind by the peeled-off tape. The longer label left the longer residue on the surface. From this perspective it appears that the Geller Field has the larger label, and therefor the longer residue. If the captain wants you to shut off the lights while in warp under pain o' death: Recite various litanies, etc. then flip shorty.

Flick one off and then in again really fast. If the lights flicked you've got the right one. If they didn't, sound the alarms to call the naval armsmen to stations and prepare to repel boarders.

I mean, how infested could a ship really get in a tenth of a second anyway?
>>
>>44712971
I'll keep the lights on till we're out of warp, then check.
>>
>>44712971
Touch neither switches until we're out of the warp.
>>
>>44715790
>how infested could a ship really get in a tenth of a second anyway?
about as much as you fear it might get, even a tad bit more than that.
>>
>>44715790
the warp affects time in crazy ways a tenth of a second is long enough for chaos to turn it into a whole year and that's plenty of time to fuck your ship and everyone on it
>>
replace both labels with "do not turn off under any circumstances" and then put a case over them
>>
>>44715752
glad to know I'm not the only one that read it that way
>>
>>44712971
Why do i ever need to turn off the Bridge Lights?
>Heretics
>>
>>44712971
They're both soldered on.
Why you wouldn't need lights on the bridge 24/7 anyways?
>>
>>44712971
funfact shit like turning off the gellar fields and the super important stuff a ship does is directly controlled via the captains brain that the ship is wired into
>>
>>44725703
This is how I like to think about it; like a titan principes.
>>
>>44725703
Gonna need a reference for that. Sounds suspiciously like headcannon to me.
>>
>>44725910
>>44725940
I'm not gonna cite direct pages or anything, but Battle Fleet Gothic Rulebook, Gaunts Ghosts mentions it in more than one book where they deal with a ships captain, That one off about a Imperial Navy ship I can't remember, Last Chancers third book.

Horus Heresy certainly mentions it too, major choices and ship access are all done by the captain wired into his throne.

>>44725910
it is a lot like the titan boys
>>
>>44726085
Well, there you are. I'll look into it.
>>
>>44715790
>flick one switch
>lights flicker
Problem solved....
>what harm can happen in a tenth of a second......
>flick other switch
>lights flicker
......shit.
>>
>>44715790
Flight of the Eisenstein (i think that's the title) had Nurgle Daemons, zombies and more invading the ship and the Gellar fields were still active, but very weak

turning them off for a split second will get you dead. If the lights are too bright we'll get you some augmetic eyes (if you're important enough) or turn you into a servitor for complaining
>>
>>44712971
Install another switch for the bridge lights.
>>
>>44727532
But we don't know which wires to splice its a 50/50 whether we're making a new light switch or gellar field switch. Also the writings iffy on if thats heretechical or not. And the commisar doesn't want random wires sticking out and the admech's busy ritually apologising and now theres just SOOO much happening. It can wait.
>>
>>44727560
Fuck that, weld both permanently on.
>Inb4 the fleshies cry because the light hurts their eyes
Well too fucking bad.
>>
>>44727569
You can't just tack foreign metal on to shit man. Thats how you piss off machine spirits. We don't want an angry ship for shit. Just let the admech put his sacred duct tape over it and we'll just unscrew lightbulbs as needed.
>>
>>44726085
To expand on this , I think the only book I have seen with the captain not directly controling the ship by brain cables is those god awful OF MARS books that are mostly wank for super special notice me characters.
>>
>>44719804
Even with the gallar fields on, one second in the Warp can be up to ten in real space, or the other way around. Warp travel is as unpredictable as the warp.
>>
>>44725577
It's part of the 'litany of leaving the ship'.
> after the captain has sung the litany one last time he is to pray to the Emperor for the wellbeing of the vessel while the crew is gone
> he then shuts off the lights illuminating the bridge and leave the ship as the first man
