>Last time, on Digimang Quest.

A trip to the town of Khoman Doe was quickly cut short, after meeting the incredibly hostile locals.

With their potential ally imprisoned by the gun wielding townspeople, Dash and friends had to convince others to take the Dokugumons place, easily tricking the nearby Sukamon that it would boost their machismo.

Along the way, the group picked up clues on potential human survivors, in two seperate locations, before deciding to investigate further on the lead in a place called Coded Village.

Driving into the night, the group finally stopped when they hit the ocean, only to be ambushed when another Digimon forced them into sleep.

Dash also had some dreams about certain people in the meantime, but he doesn’t want to talk about those right now.

And now, the adventure continues!
>>
You jolt awake again, still bound wrist and ankle with rough cords, pitch black all around you. The air feels stale, and hotter than before.

On the other hand you’re not pressed up against the others anymore, and rather than hard concrete, you’re laying on a cold metallic floor. You’ve been moved. You can’t even hear the others now, everything else drowned out by the sound of a loud engine.

Forcing yourself to sit up, you explore the short area in your reach with your hands, fumbling against another metallic wall behind you, feels thin, and it rattles a little when you touch it. At a guess, it’s only riveted together at the corners, and if you look closely, a little daylight pours in at them, along with a hot breeze of air.

>Get your phone out, where ever Elecmon is, Digivolving should help him.
>Call out, see if anyone else is in here.
>Stay put, see what happens.
>Slam against the wall, might be able to shunt it off.

You fish your phone out, where ever Elecmon is right now, digivolving will probably help more than anything right about now.

You squint as the screen lights up, Elecmons stamina is currently full, before you slam on the button, watching fifteen drain away, as the picture swaps to Leomon.

You hear a pained grunting through the wall behind you for a moment, quickly followed by the tearing of metal, then the cheering of the other Digimon, before the floor bucks underneath you.

The metal box you’re in throws itself around violently, but you tuck yourself into a ball, keeping yourself largely unharmed, as your digivice confirms, no HP loss.

You can hear the other kids groaning in pain now, and hurried thumping, heavy feet approaching, while Leomon calls out to you. “Dash? Where are you?” You thump yourself against the wall, calling for help, before the wall gives way easily, his giant face filling your view, concern painted on his features. “Are you alright?”

“Could be better.” You admit, shuffling forwards, and peering around. Looks like you’re inside a mover’s truck or something, more yelling sounding outside the walls.

>”Cut me loose first, I’ll help you.”
>”Grab the others, we’ll bust through the roof.”

You hold your wrists out, “Cut me loose, I’ll get the others out while you get ready to fight, okay?”

He slips his sword free, slicing the cords with a careful blow, before hurrying towards the back of the truck, while you undo the mess on your ankles, clambering free of the metallic box you’d been stuffed in.

There’s dozens of the things littering the truck, but only a few are making any noises, the other Digimon crowding around them. Hagurumon is grinding her gears against a corner, sparks flying everywhere in an attempt to free Casey, while Gotsumon seems to be trying to just bash one of the sides in with his fists.

Demidevimon, aware that there’s not much she can do flutters to the back of the truck to help Leomon, as you rush too Eva’s crate.

You thump on the side, alerting her to your presence, with no obvious releases, or doors, you yell at her to throw herself against the wall, catching a sight of her blonde hair as she shoulder checks the wall.

You slip your fingers into the gap and stop it from folding back in, wrenching it free after some concerted grunting and heaving, pulling the girl free as the other Digimon manage it, helping the others untangle their cords, just as the back door of the truck whips open, revealing a heavily armoured man shaped Digimon, bearing an enormous broadsword.

Leomon leaps at it instantly, sword flashing, but his foe catches it, deflecting it easily and tossing Leomon backwards, the lion man crashing into the hood of the jeep you’d been driving.

“What-ho, rapscallions!” The knight chuckles, “Do not think to test your strength against me, even between all eight of you, you lack the strength to challenge the great Knightmon!”
>>
You can feel the keys to the jeep in your pocket still, but between you and the vehicle lies the giant warrior, hefting his sword and jumping up into the truck.

You retreat quickly, ducking behind a row of crates, “Everyone get back.” You call to the others, as Knightmon starts advancing.

Demidevimon bursts with a golden light, it’s body growing more human shaped, wings extending until it looks like a big, black, leathery devil, while Guardromon thunders past you on stocky legs, her missile launcher folding out of her arm as she screeches to a halt.

“Kick his ass Devimon!” Eva calls out, pressed up to the back of the trucks compartment.

“Razor Wing!” the devil cries, wings flapping furiously, a dark power picking up as a whirlwind slams into the knight.

“Missile Destroyer!” Guardromon adds, her volley slamming into the knight’s chest.

The double attack forces him back a step, the knight growling in pain, before forcing himself forward, sword flashing towards both digimon inside the truck. It collides with both in a cruel, sweeping blow, slamming them both through the walls of the truck, their partners calling their names in unison.

Gotsumon is quivering by Jeff’s knees, but he shakes his head as Knightmon turns his attention back to your group, clearing his throat, the little rockman steps forward, placing himself between you and the giant digimon. “Y-you back off, y’here me?” He demands.

The Knightmon chuckles, pulling his sword back to walk comfortable, crossing the distance left in the truck, “You think YOU can stop me?” He laughs.

Before Gotsumon can respond, a roar from behind cuts through, “Fist of the Beast King!”

The blow catches Knightmon in the back, slamming him forwards, right towards your group.
>>
Casey grabs you around the stomach and hauls you to the left, while the twins and Gotsumon go right, narrowly avoiding being crushed by the knight’s heavy body, now indented slightly into the back wall.

Your foes hurt, but he’s not down, his head swivelling to look down at you, before Gotsumon leaps, clambering up his back, rocky fists bashing ineffectual against the knights helmet. "You get away from them, you lousy no-goodnik"

You turn to the others, “Run, I’ll distract him!” You order.

They take off, while you scoop up a scrap of metal, reflecting the light pouring in from the new hole Knightmon tore in the wall, you flash it into the Digimon’s eye slit.

He grunts, raising a hand to deflect the light, bashing Gotsumon off with his free hand, sending him hurtling into a pile of crates. Jeff rounds at the sound, as Gotsumon lays in the huddle, looking badly hurt, before he lurches towards his friend.

“Gotsumon, buddy, come on, you can’t- you gotta get up!” He worries, pulling at his friend. “You- you have to Digivolve, come on! We need your help! You HAVE TO, COME ON!”

The rock man’s eyes flick open, and a beam of lights shines through Jeff’s pocket, into Gotsumon, enveloping him with a familiar golden light. You keep the light pinned on Knightmons’ eyes, as Gotsumon digivolves into…. a white coloured Gotsumon.

“Th-this is your digivolution?” Jeff asks, disappointment obvious in his tone as he fishes his phone out, “Icemon?”

The rocky digimon ignore the comment, stepping forward, as Knightmon wrenches himself free, only for Leomon to slam him with another blow, knocking him off balance, before Icemon leaps high, a sphere of ice forming in his hand, before he spikes it into Knightmon’s face, toppling the creature with a groan, knocking the warrior out cold.

“Looks like it’s good knight for him.” Leomon comments, “Now come on, we have to get out of here.”

He leaps down, slicing through the towing cable that had been dragging the jeep, before his body shrinks back down to Elecmon. You check your phone quickly, says he’s down to eleven stamina.
>>
Icemon grunts, and his body shifts in colour, back to the usual grey, and hurries back to the car with Casey and Eva. “That was… I mean, there’s Devimon, and Guardromon, and Leomon…” Jeff mutters, before waving his hand, “And then there’s just Icemon. He didn't even get any bigger.”

You shoot him a look, “Hey, come on man, he still saved us. Got the finishing blow and everything.”

Jeff nods, but he still seems bummed out about it. “Yeah, I guess. I dunno.”

Wait a second, “How’d you get him to Digivolve? You didn’t even touch your phone.”

He tilts his head, thinking back. “Oh… yeah, I didn’t huh? Weird.” He fishes the device out, as Casey leaps back into the truck rushing over to Knightmon. “The button thingy isn’t flashing either.” He mutters, frowning, “Hell if I know what I did, it just happened.”

Eva honks the horn, already in the drivers seat, as Devimon and Guardromon hurry over, shrinking back to their smaller forms to fit in the car, looking worse for wear after that hit. “Come on! Before any back up shows up!” You toss her the keys, and she revs the car up, Jeff huffing as he hurries back to the car.

“Casey, what ya doing?” You call back to her.

She holds a finger up, “Seeing if he’s got any instructions on him, could tell us who wants humans so bad.” Her search comes up inconclusive, but out of curiosity, she presses her phone to his armour.

The screen flashes for a moment, a book app flashing up beside the bank app, “Knightmon registered.” Her phone intones, “Now accessing bank data, please allow- eight minutes- for transfer.”

She thumbs through a few screens, “If I can get this, it might see who’s paying him, or get money off of him and into our account.” She points out.

You check outside, nothing but more desert badlands in every direction, but at least you’re across the bridge now, you can see the structure in the distance, seems they were heading partially in the same direction as you were.

You wave back to the jeep, “Keep the engine running, we’re just gonna check the place for loot first, okay?”

The twins both sigh, while Eva casts a worried look around.

You leave Casey to her work, hurrying around the hold, you try and check for anything interesting or worth taking. You come out with a lot of nothing mostly, save for a five pack of two minute ramen. Eh, food’s food. You toss them Jeff’s way, before hurrying around to the front, checking around the enormous cabin.

There’s no keys, god knows where they’ve gone, but you do come away with a few more notes in cash, laying around on the floor. Curiously, you press them to your phone screen, and sure enough, they absorb in, adding to your bank account. Neat.

Other than that, you find a few bottles of water, a funnel, and a fuel pump line. You motion for the jeep to pull forward and open the trucks fuel cap, topping the car up with a little suction.

Three of the Digimon are slumped in the back, taking a nap, while Demi flaps up along side you, looking pretty beat up. Scratching her face with a leathery wing, she blinks up at you. “I checked the top of the truck, found this.” She extends one foot, a necklace with a golden ring on it with stranges runes carved into it.

“Any idea what it says?” You ask, peering at it closely.

She shakes her head, “Not a clue, but it was taped down, so it wasn’t there by accident.”

Weird. Still, you toss it in the glove compartment of the jeep, as Casey emerges, shaking her head. “It’s all in some weird code.” She holds her phone out to Demi again, “You understand this?”
>>
She hums as her eyes flick over the screen, “It says ‘transfer to Knightmon’ in Digicode.” Her head tilts, “But the from is in some weird language… might be the same one on that ring.”

Casey frowns, staring at her screen, “Oh well, we did get a pretty decent transfer from his account though. And as far as I can tell, it didn’t leave a trace.”

“Good find Demi, get some rest.” You give the bat a pat between her antenna things the leathery feel of her skin oddly cool to the touch, before you clamber into the back seat, Eva quickly flooring it away.

You’re god damn starving after who knows how long you were out, reaching back into the supplies you bought before leaving Brandom, you fish out a handful of trail mix, passing it around the car, before the desert comes to an abrupt end, jarringly mixing into a cool grassy field.

“Not far now.” Demi calls from the back, “About another hour.”

A message flashes up on both your and Casey’s screens, accompanied by the spider logo. “Dokugumon just got home, thank you both darlings.” You notice that yours has a lipstick mark at the end, quickly tucking your phone away before Casey compares them.

Despite the grass field you’re rolling through, large, tree sized cactus are the only thing poking up through the grass, and for a moment, you worry that they’re more Togemon, but thankfully, none of them move, all firmly rooted in the ground.

Finally a small village appears over the horizon, a cluster of houses discernible among rolling hills, with what looks like giant eggs laying about in the grass. Only problem is the shimmering yellow bubble surrounding the whole place.

“The hell’s going on here?” Eva demands, squinting closer as she pulls the car to a stop.

Gotsumon, the only Digimon awake clambers up top to peer at it, but he just shrugs, “Beats me, could be anything. A shield to keep bad guys out, or a trap to keep everyone in.” Looking around, there’s nothing but more smooth rolling hills in every direction around the village.

“Pull up and honk, see if we can get their attention.” You tell Casey, patting her headrest as you lean forward.

She glances back at you, “What if we don’t want them to see us?” She asks, “Gotsumon just said it could be trap to keep everyone inside.”

“If you don’t, I’ll just go up there and yell until they come out.” You reply with a smirk.

She looks half tempted to let you do it, staring you in the eyes, before she sighs, the hard edge in her gaze softening, “Whatever, guess we don’t want you getting killed.”

Jeff rolls his eyes, staring out the windshield, “Oh will you two just shut up or make out already?”

His sister punches him in the arm as she accelerates. “Shut it!” She hisses, as she pulls up alongside the bubble, turning the car sideways in case you need to make a quick get away.

She punches the horn for a good few seconds, before the bubble vanishes entirely, a blonde head poking out from one of the huts, clad in a red dress. “Dressed in red, but the hairs wrong.” Eva mutters, as the figure hurries forwards. “Looks pretty human from here though.

“Howdy?” She calls, bustling closer, avoiding the eggs. “Names Witchmon, I guess you can call me the guardian around these parts. Can I help you?”

Alright, not a human, even if she looks like it, bar the weird lines by her eyes.

You lean out the window, “Hey, seen any Dokugumon around here?” She shakes her head for a no, “Right then, well we heard someone around here was teaching a weird language, know anything about that?”

She giggles, laying one of her- holy shit those hands are ginourmous- over her chest, “Why, that’d be me sugar. Though I only meant to be teaching a few Digimon, seems a few others are always listening in.” She frowns playfully at one of the houses. “Not every Digimon can use sorcery though, so it ain’t like the other kids are getting anything out of it.”

Right then, “Say, you haven’t seen any other humans wandering around these parts, have you?”

She tilts her head, “Oh! You’re humans too, are ya? You all look so different from each other, threw me off.”

“That means you’ve seen another?” Casey chimes in, “Who?”

The witch smirks, tilting her hat back, “Does the name Daisy mean anything to you all?” You all shake your heads, before she slaps her forehead, “Ah, right, she said she has a second name too, for some reason. “How bout Kelli?” Everyone sits upright at that.

“Miss Kelli’s here?” Eva asks, fingers tightening on the wheel.

Witchmon grins, pointing, “Sure is, happy as a bee in honey to have found the place too. She got chased all the way across the desert by a gang of Gazemon afore I swooped in and saved her.”

“Where is she now?” You ask.

She points to the houses, “She’s sleeping, spent all night looking after the little ones while I was out and about. Not to mention she’s been trying to learn some tricks off me, that’s been taking the wind out of her something fierce.”

“Let her sleep, we can wait.” You tell her, before fetching the ring from the glove box. “Say, do you know anything about this?” You ask, holding it out.

She takes it from you, dangling it by the string looped through it, “Can’t say…. that I recognise these symbols she mutters. “But it has some form of charge too it.” She hums to herself, “Nope, this isn’t anything I know, but it’s not Digicode either. This is something else entirely.” She tosses it back, “You hang onto that for a while sugar, and make yourselves all at home now, you here?”

With that, she plucks a broom from mid air, seating herself on it and floating up the hill at a leisurely pace, a path through the eggs clearing to let your jeep through.

Eva parks it between the houses, as Witchmon raises her shield around the village again. “Well over there if you all want something to drink.” She gestures, “Food on the trees, and blankets in that shed over there.”

All four digimon hurry off to eat, Jeff with them, stomachs growling.

“Which house exactly is Miss Kelli in?” You ask, getting it pointed out to you by the witch.

Casey seems content to fiddle with the car radio, laying back in the back seat and rubbing her feet, while Eva glances around at a field of red blob looking Digimon before shrugging and starting to jog between the houses, her skirt swishing dangerously as she moves, not exactly built for exercise.

You sit yourself down in the shade of one of the houses, pulling your phone out and tapping the spider icon.

It rings loudly for a few moments, a soft breeze rolling through the lush grass, before the familiar face picks up. “Afternoon boy, something you wanted?” She asks, that same coy smile playing on her lips.

You shrug, grinning back. “You said you got lonely up there. Figured I’d make sure it’s not so bad is all.”

She chuckles in her throat, pulling her hat off and letting her flowing silver hairs fan out. “How very sweet of you dear boy. Though you’ve already improved my day now that one of my lovelies has found his way home.” She tilts the camera, peering out over a window, overlooking a colossal spider in the clearing below her home. “I also see that you’ve added to the saving in your account she muses, turning the camera back to face her, “Care to share?”

You relay the story to her quickly, on how you defeated the Knightmon, and the mysterious ring you found. “My, quite the scrapper, now aren’t you?” She laughs, “Though I’m afraid I don’t recognise that ring dear. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. Though, if it found it’s way into my hands, I have contacts I could ask about it.” She traces a finger along her chin, before brushing it along the purple outline of her lips, “If nothing else, I’m sure it’d fetch a pretty penny.”

You turn it over in your hands, “I’m not sure it should be sold…” You mutter indecisively. “It’s an idea though.”

She simply shrugs, smiling on, “Oh, and Dash, how are you healing up? Those bruises you got the other day must be ever so painful.” You glance down your collar, the bruises largely gone now.

You shrug in a completely non-chalant manner. “Fine now, mostly faded. See?”

You set the phone down and strip your shirt off, patting your stomach and totally not flexing. Aru’s smile wides a half inch, “What kind of cruel Digimon would take it upon themselves to damage a body like yours?” She smirks, playing with the shawl around her neck “It’s good to see you’re so… resilient, however.” Her head tilts a little, and she rolls her eyes, “Oh, and what would you know? I’m needed elsewhere.”

She places her hat back on slowly, kissing the air again and giving a small wave. “See you again soon boy, I’ve no doubt.”

With that, the call cuts off and you stand again. You prod your stomach a moment, before figuring, why not get some exercise in? Sure, you’re feet are killing you, but it’ll probably save your life at some point.

You wander back out, draping your shirt over the hood of the car, you take off at a jog through the houses, catching up to Eva’s circuit with a little effort.

“Yo.” You call to her, but she just ignores you, powering on ahead, coming to a stop by the car, she drops to lay on her back, pauses, glaring at you, purposefully straightens her skirt out, before going into a routine of situps.

You glance around, loking for something heavy to lift, before your eyes fall on… “Hey Gotsumon, come sit on my back, alright?”

He glances up, curious, as you plant yourself down for pushups, pulling your goggles on to keep the sweat out of your eyes, while the rock man sits on your upper back. Casey leans up from the back seat, watching you go, as the added weight of Gotsumon quickly works up a sweat, his tiny rock body as dense as real stone, as you pump yourself up and down.

You make it too fifty, before your arms start clicking weird, letting yourself fall down into the soft grass, as Gotsumon clambers off. “You gonna be alright?” He asks, nudging your head.
>>
You shoot him a thumbs up, as Casey slips out of the car, pressing a freshly drawn jug of water to your face, the cool condensation feels like heaven after that, Elecmon watching over you with concern on his face as well.

“You know, I think you’re the first dude I’ve seen without a shirt on, in real life.” Casey muses, “I’m not exactly a big swimmer or anything, so, you know…”

Eva snorts from nearby, doing chin ups on a tree branch a few feet away. “Trust me, he’s nothing to write home about.”

You raise your eyebrows, “Seen a lot of shirtless dudes, huh?”

She juts her jaw out, pausing halfway through a chin up, “What’s it to you?” She answers defensively.

You shrug, “Well, have fun, I’m done for now.” You grab your shirt back, feeling Casey’s eyes lingering on your back, Eva determinedly looking straight ahead, as you pull it back on, downing the water Casey had fetched in one go.

You snap your fingers at Gotsumon, thanking him for the help, before wandering off towards the houses, Elecmon ambling along beside you. “Where we going Dash?”

You smirk down at him, “Just checking up on Miss Kelli, gotta make sure this is legit, right?”

Elecmon nods earnestly. “A good thought, wouldn’t want to find out she’s not here after coming all this way, after all.”

You slip into the house Witchmon had pointed out, a small, one room affair, quiet breathing filling the place as you carefully shut the door behind you. It’s dimly lit, but you can make out the bed and a figure atop it.

You head towards it, finding the redheaded woman curled up in a ball, clutching a pillow to her chest and shuffling about in her sleep a look of concern painted on her face. This close, you surmise you had to be right about her at school. She’s almost definitely fresh out of university.

“Noooo….” She mewls in her sleep, kicking her feet.

You lean down and lay a hand on her shoulder, about to shake her awake, before her eyes shoot open, bright in the dark room.

Her hands move in a blur as she yelps. “Get away from me!” She calls, her hand glowing a bright green, before something shunts you in the chest, the world shifting around you.

You hit the far wall with what you think is a crunch, grunting in pain, as Elecmon leaps in between you.

Ms Kelli fumbles for a lamp, blinking herself awake, the glow on her hand quickly disappearing as you clutch your ribs. “Who are-” Her expression quickly shifts to horrified as she covers her mouth, “Are you human? Oh gosh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t even mean to- it just happened, and-” She picks herself up off the bed and hurries over to you, tilting your head back to look up at her, hugging you into her neck.

“Pain…” You gasp, mouth hanging open for a few moments, before you get your wind back.

“Are you…?” She trails off, “Dash Addams, right?” She asks peering closer at you. “H-hold still, I m-might be able to pull off a repair spell.” She lays a hand over your heart, taking short, calming breaths and nodding hurriedly to herself.

You shake your head, “Maybe… Witchmon… should do that?” You grit through your teeth.

She pauses, before nodding, quickly hurrying towards the door and calling for the sorceress. The witch comes rushing in, dismounting from her broom, she leans down over you, a giant hand laying over your chest. “Stange, human’s body composition is so alike ours… yet so exotically different.”

Ms Kelli frowns, “Not the time Witchmon.”

Witchmon nods, “Alright then sugar, just lay back and let me do my work. Daisy, get his shirt off, it’ll help the flow of energy.”

The teacher tugs your shirt off over your head, a sharp pain digging into the centre of your chest as your arms lift, before a warm sensation floods into your chest, a twin blossoming in your throat, spreading downwards, you grit your teeth, feeling bones grind against each other where they aren’t met too, bruises fade out entirely and your breath comes back in deep sucking rattles, before returning to normal.

Witchmon pulls off of you, dusting her hands, “Done.” She announces with a wink, “Just took a bit of… siphoning power to pull it off.” She winks, “Get a good night’s sleep and you’ll be fine. Just don’t go trying any sorcery in the meantime. Your body has a much smaller pool of energy than Kelli’s and I drained it dry fixing you.” She jerks her thumb at your teacher, “For comparison, she’s an ocean, and you’re a puddle, so don’t go getting any ideas, you here?”

You nod, feeling at your chest, as Ms Kelli offers you a hand up. “Thanks, I guess.” You tell her, kind of shaky after all that.

Witchmon grins, swaggering out, whistling for her broom to follow along, while Ms Kelli throws her arms around your shoulders, apologising profusely. “First human I see in a month and I nearly killed him.” She pulls off, lower lip quivering, as she grabs your hand, “Dash, I need to make this up to you!” She asserts. “Name something and I’ll do it.”

You thumb towards the door, "There are other humans here, with me. I was with Casey for a few days, before we met up with the twins..." Hang on, "You've been here a month?"

She nods, pushing her glasses up her nose, "Yes? Why, how long have you been here?"

You kind of lost track when you all got knocked out, but, "Can't have been more than a week." You figure. "And we only fell through that window a few minutes behind you.

She brushes a finger to her chin, "Odd, not only do we have a bizarre geographical variety, but it seems that time here is accelerated well beyond that of our home." She nods, "Though I suppose that makes sense, computers run faster than human comprehension."

"Computers?" You ask, that sneaking suspicion in your head creeping up.

She nods, "Of course? Digital World? We're obviously in some kind of world, created out of data. Witchmon doesn't understand it entirely, but that's the best way she could explain it."

Makes sense, you kinda figured it was something like that. Explains a lot about the places you've seen.

You start to pull Ms Kelli towards the door, before she tugs you back, "Dash, you're shirt." Oh, right. You scoop it back up, pulling it on again, while she occupies herself by very busily cleaning her bedside table. "You can feel free to use my bed tonight, by way of apology." Her back stiffens, "O-Obviously, I'll take the floor, of course, or rather, bunk with Witchmon maybe..."

Dash is what, 15-16? It should be cringey, it's in character.
>>

The biggest man slut I've known was a fuckhead that kept saying stupid shit and coming onto girls with confidence but really no regards for how ridiculous his approach sounded.
He was also a tall /fit/ good looking latino dude...
But yeah a lot of it is cringe worthy.

You’re tempted to tease her for a heartbeat, but move past it, “Nah, you keep it, I can sleep in the car.”

That gets her attention. “Car? You’ve been driving?”

You nod, “Yeah, picked up a scrapped jeep near a town called Brandom, got it in working order with a little money and luck.” She smiles, looking impressed.

“Well, good work. Heh… maybe you shouldn’t be in summer school after all….” She trails off awkwardly at the end of her joke, “S-sorry.” She flounders, looking for a path out, “Oh, I should check on the other kids.” She quickly hurries her way out the door, calling out to the others in the now setting sun. “Oh, kids, it’s so good to see you again.” She breathes as you catch up behind her. “I was worried sick, but I couldn’t leave, without someone to help watch after me, and- and Witchmon was busy, so I thought I’d learn some-” She stops herself, placing her hands on her hips, “You’re all okay, aren’t you?”

The general consensus is mostly positive, with a bit of indignance on Eva’s part, but Ms Kelli just smiles warmly down at the group, before noticing the digimon sitting with them, along with Elecmon by your heels. “And who are these?” She asks.

They go round the group, introducing themselves, before you conclude, “They’re our friends, help us out when things pick a fight with us, and we can channel some power that makes them digivolve.”

You pull your phone out, showing it to her, as does everyone else, but she seems confused, pulling her own phone loose, it’s just a normal smartphone, battery long dead apparently. “Weird.” Casey comments, having stopped halfway through cleaning grime off her partner with a rag. “Perhaps… adults can’t use them?”

Ms Kelli pouts, “But, I’m only a few years older than you guys…” She shakes her phone a little, staring at it hopefully, but… nothing. “Oh.”

Jeff smiles up at her, “Don’t worry Ms Kelli, we’ve got more than enough Digimon to keep you safe, right guys?”

His sister makes a noise of disgust, eyes rolling, “Spare me.” She groans, “Though it’ll be nice to have an adult around, someone to remind Dash he’s not king of the world.”

>Yeah, me and Miss Kelli can be in charge together!
>Oh come on Eva, you know you love it.

You shoot her a playful grin, “Oh come on Eva, you love it.”

She ‘tch’s loudly, laying back against a tree, Demi resting in her lap. “Whatever. Someone has to keep these two in check, and I don’t want to watch after them.”

Casey and Jeff turn to her, her brother looking ready to lean over and smack her across the face, before Miss Kelli cuts in, “Oh, I didn’t know you two were dating, I would have let you sit together, if you’d asked.”

Eva gapes up at her, then points a finger in your direction, “We are NOT going out.” She growls, pushing herself to her feet, stomping off towards the jeep, she slams the door as she shuts herself in. “Good NIGHT!” She bellows from inside.

Ms Kelli dithers awkwardly, “Oooh, I should talk to her, but I’ve forgotten what you’re supposed to do…”

Jeff sighs, picking himself up awkwardly. “Leave her to me. Dash’ll just make her more annoyed.” He trudges over to the car and clambers in, too much shouting from the sister.

“Those two get on like cat’s and dogs.” Casey comments, flicking through her phone, before waving you over. “Hey, Dash, Arukenimon sent me this, after I told her we were here.” She pulls up a map of the island chain, with a few Dokugumon heads placed around it. “She said the Dokugumon we freed from jail is gonna work on bringing them back home, but if we’re in the area she’ll reward us for helping again.”

Ms Kelli sits, ignoring that, “Kids… you wouldn’t happen to have any hints on how to get back, would you?”

Casey turns to you, eyes unreadable, as her glasses reflect the setting sunlight, while Elecmon and the other Digimon watch you expectantly.

>Why would we want to go home? This place is cool! You can do magic!
>Not yet, but if you tag along, we’re sure to find a way.

Odds are portals that sent us here will be opening up on both sides for travel. We'll get to show our digimon the real world soon I bet, we may have too.

“I wouldn’t mind sticking aroun-” Casey starts.

“Not yet, but I’m sure we’ll find one.” You say at the same time, before Casey shrinks away. “That is, with you on board.” You conclude awkwardly.

Elecmon hangs his head a little, a frown on his lips, “Oh...kay” Ms Kelli interjects, “Well, if we combine our energy and smarts, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. But we have to find the other kids first; Zeke, Richard and Takeshi are all still out there somewhere.” She offers an awkward smile to Casey, “Mmmmaybe by the time we find them you will want to go home?”

“And maybe we can bring these guys with us?” You add, rubbing between Elecmon’s ears, perking him up a little. That seems to set the Digimon a little more at ease, but Casey’s still kind of retreating into herself, shoulders slumping and her fringe hanging low over her eyes.

“Maybe, yeah. Anyway, I’m real tired, think I’ll go catch some Z’s.” She hurriedly picks herself up and rushes to the car, as night time drops over the village instantly, like a dark blanket.

Ms Kelli watches her go, chewing her lip unconsciously, before shaking her head. “Some adult I am, huh?” She asks you. “I’m just as lost as the rest of you.” She stands, offering a hand to you. “I’m going to go to bed now.” She nods to herself. “Goodnight, and… sorry about almost killing you. I promise, you still have that favour I owe you.” She grabs your hand, “Anything you need, okay? Anything.”

Her hands are soft. And warm.

With that, she smiles, turning on her heel and totters back to her small hut for the night.

Sounds like the twins have stopped yelling at each other. Might as well turn in for the night.

Today was weird.

Aww, we upset Casey. I had my suspicions considering that she seems to have been pretty unhappy back in the real world.
