Interlude: Oh what a lovely tea party

“How could you drug Mikage like that?” you plead as you gently lean your quite unconscious pink haired friend back into the couch, “Or the rest of us for that matter?!”

On the other side of your best friend, Keiko Sugimoto sets down her teacup and nods firmly. The well mannered and poised girl crosses her arms and sighs. Of the conspirators across from you, Midori Mori seems most undisturbed or perturbed by this turn of events while the veteran Sailor Guardian Hotaru Tomoe seems concerned as she sets her tea down and approaches.

“It was over the counter tea,” the older woman counters with a sigh as she stands between your unconscious friend and the coffee table and kneels, “and a shot of rum. I am aware that she sneaks liqueur from time to time and thought it would help her rest after Mori-san’s suggestion; not knock her out,”

While her tone is gentle, you still fear this and don’t trust her. The way Mikage-chan went down, there had to have been more than just milk and rum in that tea. Despite the calming influence of the tea, you are on edge and exasperated with worry. Throwing an arm wide, you lean over to intercede and are surprised to nearly collide with Keiko as she seems to have had a similar idea.

“Well, what do you intend to do now?” Sugimoto-san says worriedly, gulping as she too stares down Doctor Hotaru Tomoe.

The woman who, as you’ve been told, has the power to scour a planet of life if need be recoils a bit in soft hurt and sighs.

“I just want to take a look at her. I’ll say it again, this shouldn’t have knocked her out like that,” there is a certain pleading in her violet eyes, earnest and concerned…

You and Keiko both slowly remove yourselves from her path and allow her to lean in and inspect your friend, a pen light slips out of her pocket as she first checks Mikage’s dark eye- before you can notice or question that your attention is drawn elsewhere.

“You know, Kairi,” Midori uses your name completely informally while sipping her own tea, “If I thought I could get the drop on her, I would have asked Tomoe-san if she had any chloroform,”

“MIDORI!” Keiko gasps at the other girl’s callousness, you aren’t surprised.

Even if the two of you are friends now, even if you are comrades in arms who have bled together and fought back to back against overwhelming odds, you know first hand just how mean and cruel Midori Mori is capable of being. More so if she feels justified in her actions.

“Please, Keiko,” she looks over at her girlfriend impassively and...tired? “Both of you saw it. And it isn’t just tonight. She is spreading herself thin and running herself ragged. If we had actually stopped for that little picnic at the tree things would probably be fine,”

She finishes her tea and pours milk into her cup from the creamer before pouring more from the pot.

“But it isn’t, she isn’t,” she stops pouring when her cup is two thirds full and rises toward the kitchen, “That she passed out is probably just a sign of how exhausted she must be. After she wakes up we need to convince her to actually take some more time to relax. Maybe we can have that picnic so she can claim the damn tree or we can do something else FUN this weekend as friends,”

You glance at Mikage’s prone form from the corner of your eye. She stirs but doesn’t wake under Tomoe-san’s ministrations. Presently she is pushing up her lips and examining her extended fangs. Her focus is solely on Mikage, she doesn’t seem to even notice the spate going on around her.
>>
>>44812435

Keiko is silent, looking now to Midori worriedly as she returns from the kitchen with a tall bottle of the white rum you imagine went into Mikage’s cup. The wavy blonde uncaps and tips the bottle slowly and carefull to complete the last third of her cup before stirring the mixture.

“Besides, Miki can tank a shot,” she takes the cup and takes a long drag, “And I asked for a double shot of what Tomoe-san gave her myself because I know I’m going to have trouble sleeping after the view I had of that underground horror show,”

That...doesn’t make it better.

“Unnaturally symptomatic of starvation or dehydration,” Hotaru Tomoe breaks her silence, you catch her usually cool and even voice trill with a forcibly distanced worry, “Not dissimilar to energy consuming creatures devoid of a food source for an extended period,”

Midori chokes on the last of her drink and drops her already emptied teacup to the carpet as a shock of worry runs down her features.

The older woman rolls back the sleeve of her sweater and presses onto the couch between Keiko Sugimoto and the sleeping Mikage, her other arm snaking around the back of your friend and propping her up.

Bringing her exposed wrist to Mikage’s lips and gently nudging them apart, she impales herself without hesitation on the still extended fangs. Tomoe-san stifles a pained sound as Mikage’s eyes shoot open, her color noticeably black instead of red.

“Come on,” Tomoe-san whispers worriedly as Mikage sits up on her own and leans into the wrist with a ferocity you haven’t seen in her since Tokyo Tower, hands lifting up and holding onto the offered arm desperately.

You, Keiko, and Midori are crowded around the two of them. Scared and ready to try and pry Mikage off of the dark haired woman if it seems necessary. This need does not come to pass.
>>
>>44812506

After a few tense moments, her eyes shift back to red and she slumps back into the couch. This time not just unconscious, but in a fitful sleep as she rolls to her side and snuggles into the cushions.

The four of you sit and stand around her; glancing at each other in worry before Tomoe-san smooths out her skirt, adjusts her hair, and rises. Turning toward the other side of the living room, she picks up the bottle of rum and studies it for a second before calmly setting it down.

“Give me a moment to get ready and I think I’ll drive all of you girls home,” her voice is that strange and detached coolness you heard from her before in the hospital, she absentmindedly rubs her wrist, “We’ll drop Mikage off first and let Luna know what happened,”

What...what just happened?

There is a digital chirp, a chime going off from Mikage’s pocket. Fishing out the phone, you find it's an alarm set to remind her of an appointment with someone named Yukiko Akiyama.

“Oh,” Midori says above you, also looking down at Mikage’s phone and reaching for a hollow act of normalcy, “I should probably call about that. I doubt Mikage is going to be awake in time,”

You sleep like a log, maybe even the dead. After a long and hard day of busy activity and then sleep on a full belly, you really don’t want to wake up. Turning beneath your sheet and blanket, away from the heat and light of the sun beyond your window, you enjoy the last few vestiges of restfulness in the swaddled comfort you’ve claimed in your bed. Snuggly clutching your comfortably lumpy storm cloud body pillow, until you cannot hide from the day any longer.

“Bom dia,” your eyes spark open as your father yells at entry to your room, “filha! Get up, get up, you said you couldn’t sleep late today!”

Leaping to standing on your bed, you meet your father’s broad grin with one of your own at even height and pump your fists in the air. You are Kanari Kino, Sailor Guardian of Jupiter and third year junior high student.

Serving as as the strongest fighter to work with your best friend, the Sailor Guardian of the Moon Koyomi Chiba, you are ready to meet any challenge and overcome any obstacle.

“Bom dia, paizinho!” you cheer and punch the air with a hungry determination, “Need me to make any deliveries on the way to school?”

“No, no,” he sighs and ruffles your head, “Get ready while I go check on your brother,”

A flickering glow unsettles you from an uneasy sleep.

Lifting your face off of your keyboard with a groan, you scratch at your cheek sore with indented keys. Rolling your back and knocking the blanket off of your shoulders, you fall back upright in your chair and slowly slump low as your sleep addled brain curses because you probably drooled on your keyboard again…

Wait, that happened too many times before and you got yourself something water proof. You did that because you are smart and capable of pattern recognition, you reason as your cognitive processes catch up to your still tired present.

Uncomfortably squirming, you lean forward and push at your mouse to send your scrolling screen saver clip show of erotic and funny panels and online art you had previously saved back into the recesses of your hard disk and review whatever it was you were researching before you fell asleep.

Your name is Saori Umeki, a nerdy and invisible girl who most people pay no mind to...and you know the third Sailor Moon is alive and still out there. She saved you, while wearing quite masculine clothes and seeming quite familiar with Kairi Osaka. Misconceptions and delusions aside, you smell a plot.

As dad leaves the room, you get out of bed and head immediately to your closet. After your workout last night, you took a nice and relaxing bath, so you could hop right into your morning the next day.

Even with a full day now passed, you are still giddy about that fight in the high school. Sure you got a bit manhandled by that spider monster, but in the end you gave as good as you got and smacked it around with a huge piece of scrap metal. Honestly you couldn’t smile at yourself any more broadly as you catch yourself in the closet mirror.

Flexing your arm, you sigh that it lacks visible tone or definition. As strong as you are, unaided by magic, you think it would be cool to more visibly look the part. Taking a few more poses and being mildly upset that you can pack so much power while still looking so small, you take comfort in the fact that you’re still growing.

Still growing...you’ll grow up into your strength. Hell, you still have a ways to go to catch up to your parents in stature.

Selecting a blouse and sweater for the day, you smooth out the skirt of the uniform you earned the right to wear early. Lately you’ve been focusing on the things that make you feel flush with pride and happiness, especially after wasting so much time being angry since this whole thing started that you’ve been making the effort to actually enjoy yourself and how cool it is to be a magical girl.

Running downstairs you set about assembling your lunch. Since you’re up on time you don’t have to rush it, and manage to make an extra portion beyond what you intended because you know exactly what to expect from school today.
>>
>>44813841

“Morning,” your brother calls impassively as he comes up from further downstairs carrying a thermos, “Dad’s getting started in the cafe,”

“Morning yourself,” you say with a smile as you pack the last spice-full and veggie heavy rice ball into your lunch box, “Onigiri okay for lunch, Koito?”

“Sure,” he nods and fishes an apple from a bowl on the counter.

Turning, you set his bento down in front of him and smile slyly. Perhaps it’s more knowingly, or maybe even manically. Really, you aren’t sure.

Swallowing his mouthful of fruit nervously, your twin regards you carefully.

Yesterday after school, your best friend excitedly told you that she and your presently concerned brother are finally going out on a date. A proper date. Koyomi was of course all starry eyed and beset with romantic and possibly lewd intent.

>So, any plans after school~?

Staring at you with concern, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead, you reach a hand out and lay it in a supportive gesture on your brother’s shoulder. Flashing him a thumbs up gesture with your other hand, you speak to alleviate his worry.

“If you think Koyomi-chan is coming on too strong,” you inform him as your own smile broadens while his embarrassment is evident, “Just give me a call and I’ll find some way to distract her,”

With a huff, your brother crosses his arms.

“I can handle myself,” he exclaims, “And this date. I don’t need your help and Koyomi’s not going to do something that makes me so uncomfortable that you need to rescue things,”

“Come on, I’m only teasing,” well not entirely, “Can’t I just be happy my brother and best friend are going out. It took you two long enough,”

“Yeah, and if I don’t make it to school it’ll probably take even longer,” he explains as he takes his bento and rises from the table, “Thanks for lunch, Kanari, I’ll see you in class,”

“Heading out early?” you question as he walks past you.

He smiles. Despite your earlier teasing, it seems he does have a bit of pride regarding what is to come.

“I have some things to take care of,” he explains vaguely, “for this afternoon,”

As he heads downstairs, you retrieve your school bag and-

Hmmm, when you get down to the street outside the cafe, you catch sight of your brother turning a corner in the direction away from the school. Thinking to yourself, and giving in to your lingering curiosity, you pursue your brother. Hanging back and sticking around the edges of corners you watch as your brother goes to a few shops only just opening for the day.

A french style chocolate shop, an art supply store, and mahou manga.

Clutching your bag between your chest and knees, you crouch behind a decorative shrubbery among many others lining the pedestrian street.

Glancing out around the corner of your latest hiding place outside of the comic book store, you find it curious that you don’t see your brother anywhere.

“Maybe a he doubled back,” his calm voice deadpans beside you as you shift back into your hidden position.

“Nah, that would mean he knows he’s being fo-” you pause and glance over to your side, where your brother crouches alongside you.

Hefting his shopping bag he stands back up.

“Didn’t have anything better to do, so you just decided to scout out my plans for Koyomi?” he sighs and offers a wry smile.

“Hey, I wasn’t spying FOR Koyomi,” you smile and he rolls his eyes, despite smiling himself.

“Anyway, I still have one more stop to make before school,” he admits and starts walking down to the cross street.

“Alright, I’m gonna walk to school with Koyomi,” you explain and rise yourself, cracking your back along the way.

“Not going to spoil what I got for her, are you?” he pauses in his walk and turns to face you.

“Nah. Like I said, I was spying on you for myself,” you shrug and turn to walk away.

Parting in quiet, you make your way back toward the residential areas of Juuban and away from the cluster of offices and shops. Winding down familiar roads and coming to the familiar corner where you have a clear view of the Chiba household.

You pause, as a small car pulls out of the driveway. It isn’t Koyomi’s dad’s car, black goliath of an import that it is, but something domestic and colorful. Hotaru Tomoe drives past you on the street, shooting you a smile and a wave as her passengers seem in a lull on the edge of sleep and fail to notice you.

Her passengers being Keiko Sugimoto and Kairi Osaka.

You frown as you continue toward the house.

It's so stupid.

So freaking stupid.

You aren’t an idiot and you know what’s going on. Well, you know enough of what’s going on. The specifics are probably annoying and boring.

With a sigh you knock on the door. Almost immediately a tall woman with black hair and a yellow dress opens the door. It still unnerves you, that this woman is Koyomi’s talking cat. Hell, that Luna is a talking cat still unnerves you. She’s nice enough, but when she talks in her natural form you can’t help but be weirded out.

“Morning Luna,” you return to a happier disposition and glance past her, “Is Koyomi-chan up or do you need a hand dragging her out of bed?”
>>
>>44817776

“Actually, she’s-” the woman says quietly as your blonde and often ditzy friend ducks under her arm and springs to her slightly taller than you full height beside you.

“Morning, Kanari-chan!” she cheers whilst shoving a red bean confection into her face, “I was just about to head out,”

You notice someone is on the couch curled up with a blanket, you think you recognize her as Sugimoto-san’s friend Midori Mori.

...Oh come on.

“Can you believe it, Kanari-chan! Two days in a row I get up on time!” the accident prone twin tailed blonde bounces on the balls of her feet in excitement.

>That sure is something, Koyomi-chan

“Jeeze, Koyomi,” you stow away your mild upset over what is obviously happening under Koyomi’s nose and choose to rib her instead, “Two days in a row? Should I start taking bets for a third time?”

Your friend smiles broadly.

“It’s a sure bet!” she exclaims, “I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been so full of energy lately. And I cooked food without ruining it!”

You stare at her a moment, uncertain. Your concern after her elder sister’s ongoing chicanery forgotten at the very thought of Koyomi trying to cook. She wrecked your mother’s kitchen when you tried to teach her, now she’s going on about how she made her dad and big sister Omurice yesterday and they LIKED IT? That doesn’t concern you as much that they still live.

Shooting a questioning glance to Luna, fear plain on your face, the cat woman nods in defeat.

No. No way.

Has hell frozen over?

“The end times are nigh,” you clutch your heart, “meu Deus,”

“What? Come on, I wasn’t that bad befo-”

Whipping up from your feigned shock, you prod Koyomi in the chest poignantly.

“You destroyed my mom’s favorite rice cooker,” you complain, “And don’t get me started on the eggs,”

Koyomi wilts a bit under your scolding.

“I-I didn’t mean to, Kanari-chan,” she says worriedly.

“I know, I still have nightmares about what you did,” you scoff, “Come on, let’s just head for school,”

“Oh, yeah,” Koyomi laughs a bit, “Sure,”

Bidding goodbye to Luna, the two of you set off for the bright new day ahead. On the way to school, your thoughts drift back to Midori Mori being asleep on the living room couch and Hotaru Tomoe leaving the house with Keiko Sugimoto and Kairi Osaka in tow.

Thick as thieves, especially during and after that whole spider fight.

The morning foot traffic picks up around you as folks are making their way to work and school. A city comes to life, with flow and heartbeat.

You clearly saw Sugimoto-san in two places at once, no reason the others couldn’t be.

“So, what was Mori-san doing on your couch?” you query carefully, “Asleep?”

“Oh, she came in with Nee-san and Tomoe-san,” Koyomi happily explains, “She said they were meeting with their friend for ganguro stuff near Infinity Academy and wound up staying out too late. Tomoe-san found them walking home, scolded them, and offered to give them a ride back. She said nee-san fell asleep on the way over,”
>>
>>44820630

Her rambling recounting of what you can only assume is a mistruth is punctuated when she skips ahead of you and pulls her bag low behind her back.

“It makes me happy that Nee-san is spending so much time with friends these days,” she rights her posture, “I was worried about her,”

>That’s probably a lie, you know what I think she was doing?

No doubt about it in your mind, someone lied to Koyomi. You’ll keep those suspicions to yourself and not ruin your friend’s mood. Muttering silently under your breath your curse Mikage Chiba’s stubbornness. Oh well, if you aren’t going to sour Koyomi’s moon then at least you can brighten it.

“So, are you excited for your date?” you ask as you walk past her, and indeed she thunders into her barely contained peals of laughter.

Wait. She isn’t shudding into a ball of laughter. Turning around you regard Koyomi in sudden concern as you find her she staring out across the street in quiet reflection, her fingers twirling through a few loose strands of hair from one of her pigtails.

It isn’t like her.

“I’m excited,” she says wistfully, but with a noticeable hesitation between syllables, “I’ve been trying to get Koito’s attention for so long, well not just his attention I guess, and now that I have it I don’t quite know what to think,”

She stands there, and swings her school bag from her side to her front, holding it demurely with both hands as she ceases playing with her hair.

“Koyomi-chan?”

Turning to face you, there is a melancholic look about her that you’ve only seen her display when she was worried about her big sisters and not in a sad sack panic about it.

“I’ll see how it goes,” she smiles earnestly through the odd aura she projects, “I know it will be special, but I guess I’ve had something else on my mind lately,”

She passes you, despite the shock freezing you to the ground.
>>
>>44822921

“Come on, Kanari-chan,” she chirps with a casual spring in her step, “Let’s impress the teacher. They’ll never expect me in class early,”

After a few minutes, the two of you arrive at school. Homeroom begins, everyone is there, and you keep stealing glances at Koyomi throughout the lesson.

She’s...awake.

She’s...attentive.

She’s...actively participating.

Lunch can’t come soon enough.

Your brother, casually glancing over at Koyomi, is likely going to approach her so they can eat lunch together. You remain unnerved from this morning and the first half of school.

You don’t intercede in the direction of your brother or of your friend, you let natural gravity pull them toward one another as Koito walks over to her desk and they exchange a few brief words. True to form, your brother tries to play himself off as being cool. Koyomi is again herself, the giggly girl who is too excitable.

For all her outward excitement, you pick up on something else.

You can overhear him ask her to the roof. She accepts readily and asks him if he brought any of his usual coffee. With a nod he says yes, and they collect their lunches and leave.

Following the two of them to the roof, casually and with your own lunch, you survey the repair crews from the rooftop working on the nearby high school. There are plenty of students here, and by staggering your arrival after them you go relatively unnoticed as you enjoy your rice balls outside.

They sit together, chatting and acting like the young people in the throes of young and awkward passion might sit together. Koyomi finishes her lunch quickly as you expected, and your brother presents her a small package you imagine came from that confectioner's this morning. Within is a chocolate torte, to which Koyomi squeals in delight.

Observant of Koito, he knows the straight path to Koyomi’s heart.

If only you couldn’t see the small tells of doubt in her body language.

“What the hell, Koyomi-chan?” you whisper to yourself while closing your bento box, “I know you fall in love easy, but…”

You’ve never seen your friend doubt her heart like this. The last time you got this feeling from her was when she was looking back at the high school the day of the spiders…

A shadow falls across your back, and you feel a hostile intent. You’re braced for what’s to come.

“Well well well, looks like the hafu decided to sit in the sun like she belongs around here,” says a girl with short and drill curled hair, “What’s the matter sansei? Thinking about parading yourself around where people can actually see you?”

Turning, you coolly regard Mika Kujo, she is tall and calm. The two of you are both first string in the basket ball club. She very much dislikes you. You return the sentiment.

You briefly entertain rising and tackling the girl, pinning her arms to her sides with your knees as you straddle her and pound her into the roof platform.

That’s just what she wants. She wants you to fly off the handle and prove that you don’t belong. Prove that you’re uncivilized and too passionate. She wants you to flip out in front of everyone and give her the big black eye she deserves. To show that you don’t fit in.

So you do something, instead, that you’ve gotten pretty good at. Ignoring Mika’s bait, you keep just enjoying your lunch period and watching your friend and brother.

Your sometimes teammate continues to cajole you and make fun of you. Continuing to ignore her, you take a sip from your juice pouch and try to relax. She brings up your father, Brazil, not being properly Japanese, and passively insulting your mother marrying your father. Its bristles you, it bristles you and flushes your only slightly darker skin red with anger.

You hold. You’re proud to stand out. This doesn’t phase you.

It hurts...but it doesn’t phase you.

“Tch, just look at your mongrel brother. I bet he thinks just because Chiba-san is your friend that he has a chance,” it almost pushes you over the edge, but you hold, “Whatever, you aren’t any fun today,”

Bored, she leaves you in peace in the closing minutes of the period. You watch Koito bid Koyomi a brief goodbye as he heads back in.

Your best friend seems giddy, and catches sight of you and skips over.

“Kanari-chan, Kanari-chan, Koito gave me the most delicious chocolate after we had lunch!” she swoons, returned to her expected mannerisms, “I’m so excited for this afternoon!”

The two of you walk back to class together, you catch one last glimpse of Mika Kujo as she turns her nose up at you. Passing through the hallways, you think about what you’ve noticed going on with Koyomi today…

>Ask her what she had doubts about
>Be less direct, tell her she seems off today

“Say, Koyomi-chan, you want my last portion of rice balls?” you ask after your friend with the intentionally prepared extra portion of rice balls you made this morning.

She stops as you present the opening bento box, offering a cheer as she snatches both of the remaining rice balls. Unceremoniously demolishing the first, she takes a moment to savor the second and responds to you through stuffed cheeks.

“Mph, fank you Kanari-shan,” she manages to get out past her lips with a smile.

You nod, and close out your lunch box and take a careful note of your friend. While you don’t want to accuse her of anything, you know something is wrong. Treading lightly, you at least have to ask her about what’s going on.

“Hey, Koyomi-chan,” you venture with obvious concern in your voice.

“Hmm?” she looks up and wipes a few flecks of rice and peppers from her cheeks.

“Are you okay? You seem a bit off today,” you share a part of your observation.

She pauses, there are still a few stained pieces of rice in the corners of her lips. Her eyes seem distant, for a second, as she drifts to the side and leans her back against the wall of the hallway. Her shoulders slump a bit and she glances to the side through the crowd.

“Koyomi?”

“I was hoping no one would notice,” she sighs a bit, “I’ve just had something on my mind,”

“It isn’t your sisters again? Mikage’s doing better, isn’t she?” you question with some exasperation.

She shakes her head, and looks almost forlorn.

“No, it isn’t Mikage and Usa...it just feels like I’ve lost something,” she folds her arms, “or I’ve found something...I don’t know,”

She wrings one of her pigtails in worry.

“I should be nothing but happy about going out with Koito tonight, but ever since I woke up this morning I’ve had other things on my mind,” she confesses, “And I think I know why,”

It hurts seeing Koyomi like this, so full of doubt and uncertainty. Normally she’s so vivacious and sure of herself. With a sigh you pat her shoulder.

“Koyomi,” she looks over into your eyes, “You still have rice on your face,”

Caught off guard, she covers her mouth and laughs. You lean against the hallway wall alongside her and share in the laughter.

“So,” you clear a laughter born tear from the corner of your eye, “Why do you think stuff is on your mind?”

She looks around guiltily.

“I don’t want to talk about it here,” she explains with guilt and embarrassment, “Let’s meet up at the Crowne after my date with Koito, okay?”

You nod, and lead her back to class to settle in for the rest of your day.

Is Saori in trouble?

How did it come to this? Why did you think any of this was a good idea? What the hell were you thinking?

Nothing. You weren’t thinking anything, just chasing down leads from where you started. Trying to find some connections between where you started and where you’ve wound up. Bad decisions, poor investigations, and outright senseless chicanery.

You’ve run all over town, in daylight when you could have been safe and home all day on your computer. Instead you’ve been chased by dogs, had to talk to people, and burned your clothes.

“I don’t get it,” you whine to yourself as your quietly crawl over yet another back yard fence, “I did everything right. Every choice like I would have made in a mystery game,”

Landing in the next yard over, the afternoon sun starting on its descending path across the sky, you adjust the pilfered clothes so they don’t fall off of your matchstick frame. Of course this overly ornate maids outfit probably belonged to some marshmallow girl the way it hangs off of you. Tightening the apron and hiking the skirt you trudge across the latest yard and toward the next fence.

“Argh, I can’t walk around on the main drag in this getup,” you complain eloquently to yourself because you can speak like that when on your own, “I’ll just skip through backyards until I make it home,”

Coming to the next fence, you think back to this morning. It all started with the last known photo of the third Sailor Moon, pulling your classmate and now friend Kairi Osaka from the rubble of the battle between the two of them when the girl was transformed. All of yesterday you built your web of curiosity.

Even making a chart, with yarn and pushpins. Your school, your junior high, Kairi Osaka, Sailor Moon, Sailor New Moon, the attack on Keiko Sugimoto, the New Sailor Guardians, the monster you were, the Red Eyed Beast, Midori Mori, Eclipse, Tokyo Tower, the lady with red eyes in that giant pickle jar in the secret room, and the things your new friends were talking about when they didn’t quite think you were there.

Mikage Chiba...you still have no idea how but she is somehow at the center of things. Midori Mori talking about her when she was passed out like she was the most important person in the world despite being head over heels in lesbians with Keiko Sugimoto.

So you set out into the world to investigate. And now in the shadow of one choice of tragedy and failed explorations after another you climb another fence into another suburban backyard.

It’s a struggle. Over the edge you see a verdant garden ahead, and as you try to pull yourself down there are rosebushes that break your fall. Screeching out in pain you struggle to roll out of them, covering yourself in tiny scratches and getting your ill fitting maid uniform caught on every little point.

“Damn it! DAMN IT!” you yell out, “I just wanted to play detective! This is bullshit. Just bullshit! I want to go home and play videogames,”

Now, with your pilfered clothes damaged, you fail to sit up in a garden whose beauty you don’t immediately notice to appreciate. Unexpectedly, when you look up, you find yourself face to face with a small purple gray kitten.

I hope you all enjoyed your thread having a relatively normal and non magical day as Kanari Kino. I also hope you enjoyed your look into the cascading failure of outcomes enjoyed by Saori Umeki during a relatively similar time frame.

Honestly, she does have a lot of the information she needs. There are just certain factors preventing her from making the right connections and she has already jumped to ridiculous conclusions and has now landed in exactly the right backyard to make the most outlandish one next session.

Meanwhile as Kanari, you all managed to sniff out something was quite wrong with Koyomi and start a path toward bringing that up. Who is to say where that ends. However, that won't be immediately in Mikage's purview of things that might need to be dealt with when she wakes up next thread at around after lunch time.

>>

Probably not. If anything we probably would have goofed off and tried to find other people instead of cats.

Traveling through the filter of Saori's distorted perceptions would have be an interesting ride. If anything, our results would have been even crazier.

Oddly enough, I think magical kittens are on of the few things that do fit inside her skewed view of the world.

So who has a really nice garden that kitten could be behind after her night out? I suppose she may have found her way home without noticing she was gone?
In which case I am pleased with her stealthiness.
>>
>>44835266
To wit, had you guys been controlling Saori, there is a good chance she would have (to make a reference to Rebecca Sugar's Steven Universe) Ronaldo'd the plot and not ended up in a XXL oversized maid Cosplay.

Really do we need to chart out Mikage's love interest points?

She has history and still has feelings for Yoshi.
She has feelings for and a certain Kinship with Sasha.
She trusts and is at least greatly attracted to Kairi
Now that she isn't a shit she still has an infatuation for Tomoe-sensei & seeks more approval acknowledgement
Not Prince Demande is completely into her, even if he can't remember her face
Yoshi has unresolved feelings, even perhaps emboldened by knowing she has a dark mask like he does
Sasha likes her and accepts her crazy to a degree
Kairi is unresolved on learning Mikage would wreck her, but has an extreme admiration and loyalty toward Mikage
Punk guy who is Midori's friend thinks The Beast is cute and has a crush

Anyone else on the web with a romantic potential to and from Mikage?
