"Oh, that's another thing." Asai says, suddenly appearing behind me. "One of the great things about this world is that things don't lose strength when you make them smaller. I thought you would have known that by now, but apparently not."

So I have a super-strong, angry, tiny building-like-thing running loose in the house. Asai can't stop it, and it's far stronger than I am.
I don't know how it's possible, but I've somehow made things worse!

I am Itsukuma Masami, and I've saved the day!

I think!
Sort of?
It's really hinging on your definition of 'saving the day', really.

I've done two great things all at once! I've imprisoned Asai, and I've stopped his huge building monster that was threatening to destroy the city!
Well, 'stopped' is another definition that can be argued.

They're really inside of this card here, which I'm using as a prison. It's ironic, considering that I made it to be a big, cozy house.

Asai is now taunting me, and the miniaturized giant monster that I've imprisoned is now wrecking the house! I don't know how to stop him!

"You there! Stop!" I stand back up and charge at the monster.
I grab it around its waist as it easily shrugs me off.

Then it picks up another pillow and starts tearing the fluff out!

"No! Stop!"

"Just let him do what he wants Masami." Asai sighs, "When he gets like this it's impossible to talk with him."

Big jerk! You were probably hoping this would happen!

>Lock him in this room! It's time for his time-out too!
>Asaaaiiiiii MAKE IT STOOOOOP
>Just leave the house, this is upsetting to watch!
>Lock him in and go find Mom. Tell her the day is saved!
>Or go back to your 'real' home and tell everyone the coast is clear!

He tears another fistfull of fluff out of the pillow, then tosses it aside and picks up a new pillow!

This is the worst!

"HEY! STOP THAT!"

Again, he tosses the half-filled pillow at me.
Before he can escape from this room; I slam the door and lock it from this side. He shouldn't be able to crash through the walls in this place.

Maybe he'll further destroy that room, but it's a small price to pay!

"Well done, Masami." Asai pats my head, yuck! "You've saved the day, just like I knew you would."

"You're the worst kind of person, Asai!" I yell back at him.
"Hey, I'm just looking out for my dear daughter."

OH I HATE HIM SO MUCH!

"You stay here! I'm gonna go tell Mom everything is safe. Don't start wrecking things either!"
"I promise." He smiles, putting his hands behind his neck.

Somehow, I find it hard to believe him.

I concentrate on the last place I remember Mom, and then I'm off to the real world.

--

"What did you do!?" Kaori is the first to question me. "Where did it go!? I demand you tell me exactly what happened!"

"Well, hello to you too, Sis." I say, dryly. "I'm glad that's the first thing you thought of instead of 'how are you doing' or 'are you safe'."

She puts her hand over her mouth. "Of course I care about that! But you've somehow made a godzilla-like monster completely disappear into thin air! There are news helicopters swarming the city! You at least have to tell us how you did it?!"

Mom is busy looking at the mass of rescue personnel converge on the center of the city. Each one moving to the exact point where you sucked the monster into the other world.

>Magic.
>I put him in the house. He's about normal sized now.
>By the way, I have a problem. Do you know how I can fix it?

I put my hands up, and wave them across my face.
"Magic."
"Masami, I'm serious!"

"I'm serious too!" I smile, "I took something big, and then I made it really small! That's how I fit it inside of that house I made."

"You.. changed his size?"
"Yeah! He was too big, so I used the house card to make him small. Duh!"

Kaori stares at me like I just said the dumbest thing in the universe.
"Masami, you just changed the size of something gigantic. Do you have any idea what that means?"
"No."

She grabs my hand, "You're like, a goddess of magic! No one's been able to do that! Master was trying to find a way to do that so he could create an army of giant bodyguards!"

"Well your 'Master' was a doofus." I pout.
"I'm serious, though! You just did what most considered to be impossible! You don't even think it was a big deal?"

"Well." I pat her shoulder. "The problem isn't really solved yet. That building-thing is in my house tearing it to bits now. I need to think of a way to stop him."

"It's in your house?"
"He's in your house?" Mom turns to look at me.

"Yeah. I locked him in a room. He was tearing all the pillows and blankets to shreds because he's a meanie."

"He's not in there with Asai, is he?"

Mom suddenly looks oddly worried.

>Um, No!

"Relax!" You wave her off, smiling. "They're in different rooms."

"Different rooms or not, Asai has influence over that thing." Mom really DOES seem worried at this point! "He could grab a hold of it and find a way out of that card. He's way better at magic than he lets on to believe!"

"I know, I know. But Asai seems to be back to his old dumb self, anyway!"

"Masami, we need to deal with Asai trapped inside of your card. He can't stay there forever."
"I don't WANT him there forever, anyway." Arms cross, pout.

I think I have a solution." Mom rubs her chin. "It will just require some set-up."
"So what do we do?"

"I'll go home and set everything up." Mom smiles, "In the meantime, take care of your friends."

"My friends?"
"MASAMMMI!"

I'm grasped from behind by a mass of blue hair!

"Maeda?"
"We were SO WORRIED!" Maeda grabs me into a hug. "Everything was attacking, and then Ryouta said you were on the roof, but then everything went away- and then our parents called, and then-"

"Maeda! Please!" I try to push her off of me. This is really uncharacteristic of her. "One thing at a time! Everyone is safe! I think! Are your parents safe? What about Marie?"

"Oy." Ryouta follows behind her from the stairwell. "They're fine, we heard from them a few minute sago. We were gonna try making a break for you, but we found someone who was hiding, and we chose to stay with her."

"With her? What do you mean?"

I look down to Ryouta's legs. There appears to be a small kid clutching his leg.
A small kid wearing a funny hat. She seems sheepish at my gaze.

"You! I thought you were going home?"
"I was but-" She seems oddly embarrassed. "I got lost, and then Asai disappeared so he quit giving me instructions."

>Asai was GIVING YOU INSTRUCTIONS?
>No! Never mind. I don't want to hear any more.
>We're getting you home. Right this instant.
>Grrgh, maybe you need to go back into time-out again.

"Asai was GIVING YOU INSTRUCTIONS?!"

Immediately, she cowers behind Ryouta. She buries her face into the tail of his shirt.

"Stop that. I know that's not how you really act." I cross my arms.

"You're just such a mean jerk!" She exclaims. "All you ever do is say things that crack down on me, and I've had it! I just want to go home."

"Why don't you come back with us?" Kaori suggests.
"Yeah, then you don't have to live with big stupid Asai anymore. Or take his instructions."

"I don't think that's a good idea." She kneads Ryouta's shirt. He continues to look confused.

"Of course it is! You want to be under his thumb forever?!"
"No, not that. It's just.. I left some things at home."

"At 'home'. The home you got lost trying to find?"
"I'm serious! I need to find them!"

Kaori sighs, "Fine, Masami and I will go with you to your house. Where is it?"
"Where Fortune used to stand. It's a couple blocks away."

"We'll go, too. For some reason, Aiko isn't returning our calls." Maeda puts her phone in her pocket.

"Fine, We'll look for Aiko while we're out."

Everyone is just dumping their responsibility off on me. I really don't like it!

We head toward the direction of Fortune HQ. A somber mood has overtaken the group as we listen to emergency sirens in the distance.
It doesn't help that we get a phone call from Aina, Aiko's sister, while we're walking. She's just as worried about Aiko as we are.

We arrive at Fortune's parking lot, sans any kind of structure. Except for several cube-shaped objects sitting next to the building's footprint.
"This will just take a second!" The girl chirps as we follow her to one of the boxes.

It's a dumpster.
She pulls open the lid, and then climbs inside.

Then she starts rooting through the trash!

"Hey! What are you doing!?" I yell.

She peers at me from below the lid. "What? I came to look for something. This is my home."

"Your WHAT?" Kaori responds with the same amount of disbelief.

"It's my home. I live here." She smiles.
"Ech-" Is all that escapes my throat.
Well, except for the outburst that occurs right after.

"NO IT'S NOT!" I yell, and clench my fists. "You do NOT live in a dumpster!"

"Huh?" The girl seems surprised. "Why not? I mean, it keeps the rain off me, and these bags are really squishy."
"You realize that's usually where the trash goes, right?" Kaori puts her hand over her eyes.

"And it's where I live, so?" The girl replies without a hint of sarcasm. "OH! Here it is!"

She picks up, what appears to be an old bottle.

"Why is this so important?" Maeda asks, worriedly.
"It's how I have fun! Check this out:"

She puts the bottle to her lips, and then blows slowly into its opening. It makes a hollow whistling sound.
"Pretty cool, huh?"

There's silence thick enough to cut with a knife.
"That is somehow the saddest thing I've seen all day." Ryouta says, turning away.

Meanwhile, if the corners of your lips detached; they would drill into the asphalt.

"Get out of there." You say, without a hint of humor.
"Why?"

"Get out of there." You repeat.

She awkwardly climbs out of the trash. You grab her by the arm.

"You're getting a bath."
"But-!"
"No excuses. Bath and a new change of clothes."

"I like my clothes."
"I don't like your smell!"

Maeda is giggling softly. Kaori seems to be concentrating on something.

"I don't get why you think you smell any better!" The little girl snaps back at you.
"For one, I don't attract flies like you do!" I scowl. "We're going home right this instant to scrub you down with peppermint oil!"

"Masami.." Kaori's eyes snap up toward me. "I found Aiko. She's in the bathroom of a subway station."

"Makes sense, cell phones can't talk underground."

"Want to go pick her up? She's cowering in one of the stalls."

>Maeda and Ryouta can go do that. We need to get home.

"Sure! I want to check on Aiko and make sure she's okay."

"As do we." Maeda yanks her brother along.

"I don't really care.." The girl shrugs.
"You're not getting off the hook that easily." I eye her. "You're getting doused with soap the second we get home."

She complains about how we're bullying her and how mean I am to everyone the whole way to the subway station. It's to the point where everyone else is trying their best to ignore her and the complaints about how I'm always so stuck-up and bossy.

I'm NOT stuck up OR bossy!

I just think the stinky girl needs a bath!

"Uh, Masami." Maeda is idly distracting herself with her phone. "I think you need to look at this."

I hop over to Maeda and look over her shoulder. She has a news article pulled up, and it features a picture of the giant monster on the front!

'Police have no issued a statement about the sudden appearance, but have made it clear that citizens should stay indoors until further notice. They are inquiring about information regarding a person of interest who was seen during the incident. She is described as a young girl, pink hair, who is roughly twel'

"Wait! That's me!" I yell.
"Yes! I think it is you!" Maeda exclaims.
"Why?!"
"How should I know!? I don't even know how they saw you!"

Ryouta nudges Kaori as we head into Subway.

"Which bathroom was it?"
"Girl's room, third stall."

"Yeah well that's- Uh ohhh."

The entire group slides out of view just as several police officers step off of one of the trains.

"(Why are we hiding again?)" Kaori nudges me.
"(Because I'm apparently a fugitive!)"
"(No you're not! They just want to ask some questions!)"
"(How am I going to explain any of what happened!? It's the same as going to jail if I'm caught!)"

Kaori is oddly silent. The policemen talk among themselves before heading upstairs, out of the subway tunnel.

I didn't expect to be on the run from the law when I was only twelve. Where did Mom go so wrong with me!?

Thanks for the thread everyone. I'm sorry it was oddly short. I was hoping it would be a bit longer, but real life is real life.

Next thread is hopefully tomorrow. With any luck, real life won't bog me down again.
