Bruce Wayne

The pain from those two words is like a nanite bomb has just gone off in your brain, trillions of microscopic robots infesting your grey matter and mining away at the very organ that makes you the person you are. A constant trickle of blood running down from your left nostril makes it evident to the doctor that something is very, very wrong with you, if the screaming and you clutching at your head wasn't enough to that already.

Though he looks to be panicking quite a bit the elderly man rushes to a nearby cabinet, searching through it for several seconds before producing a syringe filled with a green liquid. Tapping it several times, as he approaches you, the world seems to slow to a crawl, up until the point where he shoves the needle into your neck, forcing the plunger down, pushing the liquid inside of you... the last thing you see or feel before you're falling back to the bed, the ungodly pain you've felt until now suddenly vanishing as though it were never there at all.

Darkness, the comfort of the absence of anything else, just you, nothing else floating in the endless void with you.

"...still doesn't... his name?"

A voice speaks, though you can't figure out where it's coming from, as though it's surrounding you on all sides... it's talking about you, though, isn't it?

A name, you've got one of those, don't you? Everyone does, so it stands to reason you've probably got a name as well, even if you can't recall what it is.

"...ask again... wakes up."

"Still don't know Doc." You mutter, trying to bring one of your hands up to rub at your eyes, wanting to clear away the fuzzy haze that's currently impairing your vision.

*clink*

It's a surprise when your hand won't move up all the way, which causes you to glance down to look at your arm, finding that you're currently handcuffed to the side of the bed. A few tugs reveals that you're stuck there pretty damn well, though you feel like you're too weak to properly break them... hell you don't even know what your own strength is. The way you cracked the concrete when you first woke up means that you're probably pretty strong, but you don't feel any different than normal... if you really even know what normal actually is.

Focus, jackass.

Blinking a few times, you can see that you're still in the same room as earlier, but there isn't anyone here with you, no person that could have been talking about you and a name. Could be that you just dreamed it up, but that doesn't seem right... it was so clear.

Something about this doesn't feel right, and with the hand that isn't currently cuffed to the bed, you drag down the sheet covering your chest, wanting to see how badly you're bandaged up from the bullet wound.

Two things are pretty surprising when you do that.

The first, being that there's no evident wound anywhere on your body, despite the fact that you most certainly had a bullet in you not all that long ago, just smooth skin, not even a scar anywhere.

The second, holy hell you're ripped. Muscles upon muscles, you look like a perfect athlete, built for both speed and power, nothing that isn't necessary, not a spot of fat anywhere on your torso. Not the body a typical hobo, that much is for sure

For someone with super strength
>>
You've either been out of it for weeks at the very least or there's something very unusual about you. People don't heal from gunshot wounds that fast unless they're... well, not normal.

Meta-human.

The word comes to your mind as you glance at the handcuffs. That's the phrase that the government uses for people that display abnormal powers beyond what the average human should be capable of, unless they're a member of an alien race or magical, that is.

Why do you know that?

A question you're either going to get an answer you don't like, or no answer at all, the longer you stay in this hospital bed. You need to figure out who you are, what you are, and why you seem to at least partially have meta-human characteristics. Gotham City may be a terrible place, your instincts tell you that at least, but it could have the answers you seek, which means you need to get out there and start looking.

Looking from the handcuffs keeping you held to the bed, over to the window and the Gotham sky line that you can see, there's only one thing keeping you from the taste of freedom.

Flexing your muscles a few times you once more look at the handcuffs keeping you on the bed. You might be unsure of your own strength, but...

Gritting your teeth and focusing, in sudden motion towards your chest, you rip the cuffs right off the bed, breaking the guard and giving you free reign of your arm once more, even if the cuffs are still attached. Ripping off the monitoring equipment as well, along with a bit of pain as the IV comes loose, you're now at least a semi free man.

Hopping off the bed, a quick search of a nearby closet reveals the clothes that you came in with, well, the pants and shoes at least. The jacket and shirt might have been disposed of due to being drenched in your blood.

As for your escape...

While part of you says you should dive out of the window because it'd be fairly fun, the much more sane part of your mind says to do the exact opposite of that and to go the much more safer route of climbing down like a normal person would. Discovering the power of flight might be interesting and all, you'd rather not go splat on the ground just because you wanted to smash out a window.

So instead of doing the fun thing, you raise the window and take a peek out... you're seven floors off the ground, so maybe it was a good idea after all.

One foot after the other as they say, so giving one more look at the hospital room, you climb out of the window. There's a series of ledges coming off of windows that you can probably use to get yourself down relatively quickly.

Your own agility surprises you with how quickly and smoothly you're able to jump from ledge to ledge, your impacts having much less... impact than you would have expected. It's night time as well, so while you're able to make out what you're doing, there aren't many people around that actually have a chance to see you doing your thing.

Soon enough, after a bit of a rough landing on the last ledge, you've found yourself in some shrubbery, hidden away from the sight of anyone that might be coming to, or from, the hospital. Dressed in just a pair of jeans and some sneakers, you kind of stick out pretty bad if someone were to spot you right now anyways.

Least you've still got ten bucks in your wallet.

Just gotta figure out how far that money is going to take you.

First thing first, get some clothing. Metahuman or not it's freezing like hell out here and you don't care to stay out here longer than you have to without anything warming up your chest. The snow, though light, is already collecting on your shoulders, that's all the motivation you need to get the hell out of here and get moving.

The streets of Gotham are still the same as the last time you were walking on them, bleak, dreary, even about the same time of night you think. You may have fit in before with your clothes, but this time you stick out like a sore thumb, only a dumb bastard would be out here in the middle of the night without a shirt on after all.

Maybe, just maybe, that's why you've got two fellows following behind you, with what you have to assume are less than honorable intentions, based on the way they're whispering back and forth to each other, you think you even saw a gun in one of their waistbands.

You really don't fancy being robbed for the ten whole dollars you've got to your name right now, or being shot again, that one really sucked.

Perhaps if you ignore them theyll just go away and leave you alone?

Letting these guys follow you to a point where they have the advantage against you, moreso than they already do by being armed, it doesn't feel like a very good idea. Instead of outright ignoring them, you merely pretend to do so until you're able to round the next corner and vanish out of their sight for a few seconds... giving you just enough time to think about what you need to do if you're going to get through this with yourself intact and not ending up in another hospital bed right after you escaped from the last one.

Two hostiles, armed and dangerous, while you don't even have a knife on you.

SOP dictates to neutralize them in as short a time as possible while minimizing risk to yourself and getting the hell out of here after you do it just in case they've got anymore friends around.

You don't know why you know that either.

Taking a deep breath, you prepare yourself, and the second the first of the two men following you comes around the corner you reach out and snatch him by the arm, yanking him towards you while extending a leg, causing him to trip, the impact given just a little more oomph as you give him a shove on his back. He's down but not out.

His friend had just enough time to see this and starts to pull his gun on you, but you've already left the side of the man on the ground and rushed forward, grabbing the arm that holds the gun and keeping it away from you. Quickly turning things around on the man, quite literally, you swing him around and slam his head against the wall, a weak groan escaping as he falls unconcious.

Just as the first man is about to start getting up off the ground as well, a quick kick to the side of his head puts him into dream land as well, leaving you standing alone on the sidewalk.

To the victor go the spoils, and this time you are most certainly the victor.

These guys weren't bums, looks like they were more mob rats, nice leather coat, long sleeved shirt, hell, even the gun is nice. It's a quality 1911, feeding ramp polished to a mirror sheen, slide has been reinforced, and the interlock with the frame is tightened for added precision. Replaced sights for better visibility, extended safety for ease of use with the thumb, a long type trigger with non-slip grooves, a ring hammer, hell even the trigger guard has been filed down for a higher grip.

Nearly every part of this gun has been expertly crafted and customized.

Ejecting the magazine, you're able to see that it's fully loaded, giving you a total seven shots, plus the one currently in the chamber.

Looking over to the man that was carrying it, you woner how exactly he managed to get his hands on this thing. Flicking the safety on, you put the gun in the back of your waistband, it'll have to do for the moment until you're actually able to get your hands on a holster.

Why do you know so much about guns?

Questions for later, because now you've got a shirt and a jacket courtesy of these bastards, and about a hundred dollars thanks to their wallets... oddly lacking in identification, much in the same way yours was when you woke up. Probably, hopefully a coincidence of some type. The wallets did have a strange engraving on them, looking like an hourglass inside of a hexagon.

Maybe a gang sign of some sort?

More questions for later, for now, you need to get out of here.

Well, you've got a bit of cash now, and that means you've got the chance to pick up some supplies from an actual store, rather than having to scrounge around through the garbage, at least for a day or two. One hundred and ten dollars isn't a lot of money, but it's a good starting point for getting yourself situated in Gotham.

Having a weapon at your side makes you feel quite comfortable as well, the gun, along with the knowledge on how to use it, all of that just seemed to flow back into your mind when you had the chance to 'play' with the weapon. You wouldn't mind picking up a knife as well, having the chance for an excellent combo... though you might have to shave off some of the grip if you're going to be going full CQC and using the weapons together... hopefully you won't need to do that though.

Having collected everything you wanted from the guys that were following you, it's time to make your way out of here. Not exactly any grand supermarkets around this place after all.

"All in all you're just another brick in the wall."

You mutter as you try to sink into the leather jacket, trying to shy away from the cold.

You're not entirely sure why you said that, but it seems oddly appropriate for the moment. You can reference music, but you still don't know what your name is, might need to at least think of something to use while you're trying to find a store to shop at.

Jack... John... something like that'll probably work, it's a simple and generic enough game that you wouldn't stand out with it, though you are still curious about what your real name is.

Jack Smith isn't exactly the most exciting sort of name after all.

Thinking about names managed to last you long enough to where you were able to stumble across one of those twenty four hour super centers. Perfect timing, since you still really have no idea where anything actually is in Gotham, you're sort of just wandering around and hoping that things will fall into your lap. Which, thankfully, it has up until this point.

Entering the super center, you're greeted with isle after isle of just about every sort of good you could think of... even a weapons area near the back.

Guess it makes sense Gotham might have looser gun control considering all of the crazies running around. You might be able to pick up some extra ammo for your gun, if you feel like it, a spare magazine at the very least might not hurt... can you do that without ID?

Eh, you'll figure it out if you feel the need to do that.

Otherwise, there's a fine selection of clothing, food, even some camping supplies like lamps and sleeping bags scattered around the store. A good bag might be a wise purchase, to hold everything you're going to buy here, though having a limited budget means you certainly can't splurge on anything that would be conidered 'fashionable'.

You're homeless and have amnesia, you've got bigger problems to deal with than not having a fancy looking backpack.

>What all would you like to purchase?

>Funds: 110 dollars

You're at fucking walmart, it has what walmart has
>>

Internet died for a cool minute, hang on, wrapping things up here in this post for the night
>>
It takes a bit longer than you wanted it to, but finally you've got a cart filled with quite a good selection of things... and your poor wallet is practically crying at the cost of everything.

A multi-situational knife, a dufflebag, a disturbing aount of ramen noodles of various types, a hat, a wool cap, a bandana, a propane bottle with a cooking attachment, and a pot that will strap onto the dufflebag.

You'll have around fifteen dollars max with all of this, not enough to buy any ammunition for the gun, so eight shots are going to have to make do, assuming you get into any 'trouble', which, fate says at this point, you probably will after the way things have gone so far today... or however long it's actually been since you woke up, not too sure on that one really.

As you're standing in check out, item after item going across the scanner, there aren't many people currently coming or going in the store, it's after two in the morning. A few clerks here and there, the cute girl with the blue hair standing behind you looking fairly annoyed as she waits.

The men running in with AK-47 rifles, looking panicked out of their minds as one of them fires a burst towards the entrance at a target you can't see.

Average stuff for you at this point really.

Shit...

Early models didn't have that push safety on the handle, so misfire and accidental discharge is possible with them, albeit rare as fuck because it's a damn fine gun and built like a tank, but it'll never misfire if not cocked first.

Dat single action smooth trigger though.

It makes more sense then the fucking JSDF, like we would ever let Japan handle an operation like that. That whole fucking manga is wank fest
>>
>>44854097
Yeah, but then you'd end up getting killed by some pasty fucking albino who's using a sword that is totally out of place for his nationality.

And everyone would be okay with it.

Sitting there, they'd realize, they're just like him.
>>
>>44854118
The SDF vs the CIA guys was the weirdest part for me.

Well that and like you pointed out, no way our military forces stationed in Japan wouldn't be on top of that shit lickity split.

The fuckwhatnow? When did this happen?
>>
>>44854135
The guy who writes it is incredibly "Patriotic", I'm not sure how diseased your mind has to be to believe Japan would be capable of any of the military stuff in that manga.
>>
>>44854178
I mean it's admirable to love your country, but with Japan and military things...

We've literally got the whole treaty regarding us doing everything for them in that field?
>>
>>44854188
It's the most blatant wankery I've ever read, decent wankery sure, but still
>>
>>44854188
Go home yankee dogs, nippon is strong tiger, ready to pounce.

Are there any tigers in japan? idk
>>
>>44854188
And yes, we do everything for them involving military actions. The entirety of the show is bullshit, the JSDF has no fucking authority

>>
>>44854210
No, at least, not for a very very long time. Japan's largest predator was the Japanese wolf which was barely 40-50 pounds. It went extinct like 100 years ago

God Bless America

We'd FREEDOM the shit out of the Empire so hard in GATE
>>
>>44854251
Just fucking run that quest, just don't be all AMURICA about it. Make GATE somewhat logical in that the Nips would have no fucking part in it besides it being in their country.

QMC is another kid of a crystal gem like Steven, but he's Sapphire.

I barely know anything about SU, but I quite liked the first thread.

Taking bets on which Robin we're gonna be bros with.

Dick is the best.

Jason likes guns and so do we.

Tim is objectively normal and would be a good normal friend.

Damien is a little shit.
