Become The Vampire 34

You wash off as quickly as you can while getting rid of as much of Presence's slime as possible, and as you rush out you throw on your skater outfit for lack of better casual attire. You manage to make it to the bus stop just in time to watch it pull away, cursing under your breath. You sit down at the bus stop and wait, fingers crossed that you'll make it on time.

...

You make it to the karaoke bar with about a minute to spare, but Sammy is already there when you arrive. You said you were just hanging out, but she's gotten dressed up for the evening anyway, wearing a white dress and a denim jacket and styling her hair with more effort than just “wear it in a style that hides her ears”. She waves at you as you get close, smiling and walking over.

“Did you run all the way here or did I take your breath away?”

She smirks a bit and blushes. You get the feeling she's been waiting to use that line after hearing it from a member of the track team. Life goal achieved, it seems.

>Rules
Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

You smile at her and straighten up a bit, trying to control your breathing.

“Can it be both? I mean, I did just run to get here, but you're always breathtaking. You're looking good tonight, Sammy.”

She blushes brighter and punches your shoulder with a smile.

“Flatterer. Come on, I already booked us a room. They're having a couples night tonight, so I got us a discount. We've just gotta act the part while we get to the room.”

She grabs your hand and pulls you along towards the karaoke bar, and you suddenly think you know what this is. Things have been rough, you said you'd need time to figure things out, so this is a “not-date”. Jennifer is beyond your reach right now and Sammy thinks she doesn't have any other rivals, so she's making her move to see where you stand with her. It's a test. Either that or you're so used to reading too much into things that it's happening automatically now.

As you head into the building Sammy latches onto your arm, resting her head on your shoulder as you walk past the counter and towards the stairs. She smiles and waves at the man behind the counter, and he waves back with a soft chuckle before going back to his newspaper.

“Have fun, kids. You've got two hours on the clock, but I'll give you a five minute warning in case you need to tidy up.”

Sammy turns scarlet.

“B-Barry, we're here to sing, not... not anything like that!”

Barry shrugs slightly.

“None of my business either way, so long as I'm being paid.”

You keep your mouth shut and keep walking, letting Sammy lead you towards the stairs and up to the room she reserved, third on the left on the second floor. She pushes open the door and heads inside, and you take a moment to look around as you enter. Dim lighting, a hatch in the wall leading to a dumbwaiter for ordering food and drinks, a telephone to call down to the desk for more time or to send stuff up, and half the room is the stage for the performances. Sammy makes herself comfortable on the couch, flipping through the catalog, a book about an inch thick.

“There's a lot of stuff to choose from. Do you wanna go first or should I?”

You sit beside her and look at the book. The first half is organized by artist, and the second half by genre. Sammy is currently looking through the track list for a band called Nightwish. She passes it to you after jotting down the code for one of the songs, and you skim through it while trying to decide if you want to take the first swing at bat.

You close the book carefully after memorizing the code and smile at Sammy.

“I'll go first, if you don't mind. I've got just the thing in mind.”

You walk up to the stage and enter the code for Hungry Like the Wolf, taking a moment to brace yourself. You've never actually sung before an audience before, and it's a bit intimidating, but you're committed to doing your best. Besides, you were prepared for embarrassing yourself from the very beginning. The music starts, the screen lights up and displays the lyrics, and you begin to sing.

The reaction is almost instantaneous, and Sammy groans a bit the moment she recognizes the tune, but when she hears your voice the disdain leaves her face, and she stares at you. You grab the microphone and start to move around the stage a bit, getting into the groove of things. You guess she likes your voice or something? Or it's so bad that she's in shock. You decide to pull out all the stops and dance like there's no tomorrow.

As the song ends and you put the microphone back on its stand you walk off the stage. Sammy looks a bit dazed, and as you sit down she rubs her eyes and looks at you. You raise an eyebrow and recline with a smile.

“What, was it that bad or something?”

Sammy shakes her head.

“Oliver, that was... that was amazing! I didn't know you could sing like that!”

She smiles, then blushes.

“There's no way I'm going to be able to follow up after that one though... I'm not that great. I was actually hoping you'd be as bad as me so we could joke around about it.”

You open the book up.

“Then let's sing something together, that way we can both have fun together without worrying about who's better or worse.”

Sammy nods and smiles a bit.

“I'd like that a lot, actually. That sounds like fun.”

You take turns picking out songs and load the set list into the machine before taking the stage together. It seems like Sammy likes a good bit of rock and heavy metal, and you don't know all the songs she puts on, but you have fun with it anyway, particular when she puts on a song called Wish I Had An Angel and you get to just rock out with her.

For most of your songs Sammy struggles to keep up, so towards the end you swap out some of your songs for more of hers so that she can enjoy herself more. The inclusion of Phantom of the Opera strikes you as funny because of Jennifer, but you can't really explain your chuckle to Sammy so you dodge her question by implying that you weren't sure she'd like that sort of song.

“I grew up loving musicals, and Phantom was the first one that really got to me. I guess I really felt like the Phantom growing up, before I went to school...”

As you get through your duets, Sammy finally seems to be coming into her own, and as you sit down after a solid hour of singing and dancing, pleasantly tired from the experience, Sammy orders some drinks.

“What do you want? I'm gonna get some soda.”

Sammy nods slightly and sets down the book. The drinks arrive and she sips her soda while you have some water to soothe your throat. You're about to try to broach the question about Athena when Sammy speaks up.

“I've been meaning to ask you, about your... daughter. How exactly did she... um. Who did you... I mean, she's pretty close to our age, is she... from the future or something? Does she... know who her mother is? You said something about a golem core when you introduced us, but... that's pretty vague.”

Meliora was upgrading her and I tampered with her core a bit for fun, and a series of accidents, a bit of rune magic and a near-death experience later, Athena came into being. Her soul is a rough copy of my own, her body is based on my genetic code, and I see her as my daughter. Whether or not it's true or not isn't really important to me.”

Sammy looks a little relieved at first, but then her expression turns to one of concern.

“I get that you feel responsible for her, but you have to consider your own future too. Make sure that you're finding the right balance for yourself, alright? I don't want to see you turn into Professor Fenright or anything...”

You smirk a bit.

“Yeah, I guess so. I'm still figuring it out. I'm not gonna go that far, but she's important to me. She's family. I hope that you'll respect that.”

Sammy nods and smiles.

“Of course. I was just... I guess I was worried that she was proof we'd never work out... I mean, she doesn't look anything like me.”

You nod, and then briefly consider Athena's appearance. She doesn't look much like your dad, but that means Athena looks like a younger version of your mom, mostly. You find the notion kind of disconcerting, but not enough to really change anything. Sammy curls up against your side and sighs.

“Sorry for acting weird around her.”

You pull her close, squeezing her gently.

“I'll forgive you, no problems there. But you'll need to apologize to Athena, too.”

Sammy nods, closing her eyes and snuggling up against your chest, the back of her dress lifting slightly as her tail appears and starts to wag.

“Alright, I will. Maybe we can head to your room later and I'll apologize to her then.”

She smiles up at you.

“I like that we're kind of back to normal though. I like being like this with you, instead of weird and distant. It's nice.”

She blushes a bit and hesitates, before leaning up and closing her eyes, moving in for a kiss.

You kiss Sammy gently, and after a few moments she pulls back, face red and smiling cheerfully, tail wagging furiously behind her. She moves her hands to your chest as she sits on your lap.

“So... should we keep singing, or...? I mean, we've got some privacy, we could just cuddle for a while. What do you feel like doing?”

You shrug slightly and give her a brief hug.

“Let's make the most of this. How about a few more songs? Feel like singing something on your own for me?”

Sammy shifts on your lap a bit.

“I think I could work up the confidence to do that...”

She turns around and faces away from you, hiding the song book from you while she picks out something to sing, glancing over her shoulder at you and smiling before plugging in a code and heading for the stage.

“This one goes out to my lovely audience.”

She laughs a bit before taking a deep breath.

“Can anybody... find me... somebody too... love.”

Queen. She put on Queen's Somebody To Love, and as the song begins to pick up she starts to own the stage. She sways to the music, drifting back and forth and pouring her heart into every note. When the guitar solo begins she grabs the microphone stand and pretends to play along, yanking her hair tie out and letting her hair down, gently banging her head to the rhythm before moving back into singing, standing at the edge of the stairs and sliding down to her knees as the music grows quiet. She croons into the microphone gently, getting back to her feet slowly for the big finish, tipping her head back and hitting the high notes perfectly. When the song comes to an end she sets the microphone on its stand, blushing and smiling at you.

“How was it...?”

Sammy nods, she grabs the book, loading in a few more songs and singing her way through “In The Air Tonight”, a song called “Full Moon” by a band called Sonata Arctica, and “Bloody Creature Poster Girl” by someone you've never heard of before. There's a pretty big contrast between songs, but at least she ordered them so the transition would be a bit smoother. She seems to finally be enjoying herself up on the stage, and she immediately grabs the book with a smile as she sits back down.

“So, your turn? Or should I keep going? I'm starting to have a lot of fun with this...”

“Let's get something to eat somewhere.”

You get to your feet and Sammy starts straightening her hair with a nod, latching onto your arm once her ears are concealed and smiling cheerfully. As you head out of the karaoke bar she starts to hum softly, moving a bit closer to you.

“I'm thinking pizza.”

You nod slightly.

“Pizza sounds fine to me. Know anywhere around here that's good?”

Sammy nods and points down the street.

“There's a little place down this way that does the best pizza I've ever had. It's deep dish pizza, which not everyone likes, but they do other stuff too. We could split a small pie from there.”

Sammy looks like she's already about to start drooling from the mere thought, and you decide to go along with her to the pizza place. If it's as good as she says it is, it's worth checking out. As you near the shop you catch sight of Tobias and... Francine? They seem to be discussing something in hushed tones, and they're wearing black cloaks. They put their hoods up and run off into an alley, but you don't think either of them saw you.

Sammy blinks.

“Uh... alright, sure. I'll see you in a minute then.”

She releases you and heads for the door.

“It'll be five minutes or so, so don't be long.”

You nod and head for the alley, where you can hear low chanting and mumbling. Tobias and Francine are approaching a circle of people in similar robes, and Francine is offering them a suitcase full of something that you can't quite see from here.

You turn and walk away. Whatever shenanigans they're getting involved in, you don't want to know about it right now. Besides, if it's anything worthwhile Tobias will be texting you before too long, or talking your ear off about it on Monday. It's not worth getting caught up in this mess in the middle of a date though.

You head back to the pizza place and grab a table while Sammy places her order at the counter. The guy working the register is flirting with her pretty brazenly, and she's doing her best to politely decline without provoking him into spitting in your food or something. When he asks her if she's got a boyfriend she casts a brief glance in your direction before shaking her head.

“I'm hanging out with a friend right now though, so maybe another time.”

He grabs her hand and writes his number on her palm with sharpie before looking over at you and winking, turning and walking off to the kitchen. Sammy walks over to you and sits across from you, looking a touch uncomfortable and rubbing at her palm to smudge his number.

“Last time I came here with Andrea he barely spoke to me, I wasn't really expecting... that.”

You shrug a bit and make small talk while waiting on the pizza. When the guy drops it off he tries to flirt with Sammy a bit more, but she's distracted by the food and he walks away when he realizes he's being ignored in favor of deep dish pizza. You almost feel sorry for him. Almost. You help yourself to half the pie and savor the meal in relative silence, Sammy occasionally saying something about how good the pizza is.

You manage to eat your way through most of your share before you have to stop yourself, and Sammy happily devours what remains, saying something about needing the energy for later. There's going to be a midnight run tonight for the track team, complete with celebratory drinks, light hazing for new members and a group of teenagers out in the woods somewhere with alcohol and no supervision. Sammy's job is mostly going to be damage control and keeping people from hurting themselves, and she offers you an invitation to come along.

“It'll be fun, but you'll be dead tired tomorrow from all the running there and back, and you probably won't sleep until sunrise either way.”

You nod and wrap up your meal together before heading out with Sammy. She sighs and smiles, taking a few steps away from you and spinning around briefly.

You gently grab her shoulder.

“Hey now. I'm gonna walk you back to your room like a gentleman should.”

Sammy smiles and nods, taking your hand and squeezing it gently.

“Alright then.”

You head back to her room, passing the time with idle chatter. Andrea's got her eye on a girl she's been seeing around the school here and there, but she hasn't told Sammy the details yet. She smirks a bit.

“She's like a lovesick puppy... It's the first time I've ever seen her act like that.”

She pauses.

“I mean, I guess I have, but... Anyway, the point is she's got a crush but she won't tell me who she likes, just that she's head-over-heels. Maybe she'd tell you?”

You shrug slightly.

“Potentially. We're pretty much bros at this point. But if she wants to keep it a secret then I'll have to bite my tongue.”

Sammy nods.

“I just don't want her to feel like she has to keep it bottled up, and maybe you could help set her up on a date or something? I mean, you seem like you're pretty good at figuring out plans for that sort of thing.”

By the time you reach Sammy's room she's pretty much tasked you with helping Andrea get her dream girl, and she pecks you on the cheek as you part ways, closing the door. You stand there for a few moments trying to work out what mental gymnastics led to you being her sole hope for a bright future with this girl, but the train of thought eludes you. You shrug and walk off. It's not like you wouldn't help her out anyway.

You take out your cell phone and drop Andrea a line asking her about her crush. After about a minute you get a series of texts back.

“Who told you?”

“Sammy, right?”

“Don't believe a word of it.”

“I mean, yeah, I've got a crush, but it's no big deal.”

“Alright, so it is a big deal. I spent so long spinning my wheels with Sammy that I've forgotten half of what I know about dating.”

“Mind if we hang out for a bit before the midnight run?”

You look at your phone as the messages pop up and imagine Andrea feverishly typing each one and sending it, completely bent out of shape over this girl. You nod solemnly to yourself. You know what you must do.

You arrange a meeting place with Andrea and head off towards the area behind the gym. She's leaning against the wall, trying to look casual, but the expression on her face is one of someone who's barely present in the moment. You lean against the wall next to her and clear your throat, and Andrea turns to look at you.

“When did you...?”

You shrug slightly.

“Magic. Anyway, so, this girl. You like her a lot?”

Andrea nods and looks up at the sky.

“Yep. It's kinda stressing me out. I mean, I kinda got over Sammy while she was working for Vanessa, so I guess now that I have closure about it I'm ready to move on, but I didn't really believe in love at first sight or anything like that until... her.”

You pause for a moment and tilt your head.

“You don't even know her name, do you.”

Andrea smirks.

“Nope. I've only ever seen her around, and whenever I get a chance to say hi she vanishes before I can even let her know I'm there.”

You nod slowly.

“Well, describe her.”

Andrea shrugs slightly.

“Where do I start? I mean... Hmm. Well, she's about my height, long hair, she's always wearing this bodysuit thing and carrying around a gun or something, which by the way is really hot, and...”

As you listen to the rest of her description you come to the uncomfortable realization that she's talking about Athena in her older form. Either that or Fenright has taken to modeling the security droids after her appearance for consistency. You don't know how to tell Andrea that she might have a crush on a robot, or on your daughter.

As Andrea is wrapping up her description you cut her short by placing a hand on her shoulder.

“Andrea.”

Andrea looks at you, confused.

“What?”

You hesitate.

“I think I know who she is. This is going to be really weird and uncomfortable to explain though.”

Andrea chuckles.

“I already know about your secret crossdressing thing, Oliver. It's cool with me, be who you are deep down inside.”

You roll your eyes.

“I'm trying to be serious here.”

Andrea nods slightly.

“I'm just trying to lighten the mood before you crush my heart with whatever news you're about to drop on me.”

You move your hand from her shoulder and look up at the sky.

“Athena can make herself look older. More strength, greater reach, quicker reactions. She helps Meliora hunt around the school at night and keep the peace. And from what you're telling me, you've got a crush on my daughter.”

Andrea whistles and looks up at the sky.

“Would it be awkward if I asked if you'd be alright with me taking her out for a nice meal sometime when she's older? Or makes herself look older or whatever? You're supposed to ask a dad before you take his daughter out on a date, right?”

She nudges you with her elbow and smirks.

“So Mr. Spencer, can I take Athena to the school dance or what?”

Don't get me wrong, it's a strange situation to be in, but I think it'll work out. But if you hurt her, I won't let you live it down. And no funny business, alright? Athena is still figuring herself out.”

Andrea nods a bit and pulls you into a crushingly tight hug.

“Oliver? You are the coolest dude, and you'll make an awesome father-in-law. I promise to take good care of her.”

She looks you in the eye.

“But we'll never get to swap stories about our sexual exploits if I hook up with her, so we'll need a new thing to bond over.”

She turns and walks away, hand on her chin.

“Hmm. I'm gonna think about this, and I've gotta figure out how I'm gonna ask her out, but I've gotta get ready for the run. Thanks for hearing me out though. I'll see you later.”

You nod and wave as she walks off, smiling to yourself. They'll make a cute couple. You don't know how you feel about her comment about hooking up with Athena, but it should all work out in the end.

You meander around the school, dropping Meliora a line as you hunt around for Athena. You start at your room and work from there, wandering until you come across the sound of fighting. You hurry towards it and find Meliora and Athena, guns at the ready, staring down a pair of students.

“You have been identified as a threat to the human students at this school. You will stand down and allow yourselves to be removed peacefully or you will be exterminated. Athena, ready your cuffs.”

The students, a boy and a girl, both smile wickedly at the pair, and the boy steps forwards, wrists together.

“I'm so sorry, ladies. I didn't realize that eating people was wrong. I'll be sure to repent properly when you take me away.”

She kinda is. Mentally, she's hyper-intelligent with large reserves of information and memory to draw on and a decent level of maturity. Biologically, she varies between being 14 and being 20. Chronologically, we don't know how old her core is.

Still, muh daughteru, so even trusting Andrea as I do and believing what I just said, I intend to vote to play the role of the protective father. We've been told by several people to not be controlling though, so let's keep it to sane levels and just silently hope it turns out cute and fluffy for them.

We exchange invitation for power and hope the things well get well. Besides we will be in Draculas "magic realm". Besides she will behqve in hope of getting contracts with monsters, plus we get leverage in bargaining with her.

As for the nature magic. I think that she still knows basics of elemental magic, at least the water element.
>>
You watch the fight unfold from behind a locker. The boy and girl are ghouls of some sort, and their jerking, abrupt motions seem to throw Meliora and Athena off a bit as they fight them. They blast off their limbs first, leaving both of them as just torsos, before Meliora stomps on the boy's chest and points her gun at his head.

“You will. Stand. Down. This is not a request. Do you understand?”

The boy's neck snaps as he latches onto her leg, biting clean through her knee. Meliora blasts him in the face and stumbles back, hopping in place before falling over. As the girl moves in to attack, using her chin to propel herself, Athena finishes her off and walks over to Meliora, who is starting to cry.

“It hurts... Ow... Stupid pain sensors, I hate them!”

You walk out from behind the locker as Athena scoops Meliora up.

“Hey there. Are you guys alright?”

Meliora glances your way before attempting to turn away, rubbing her face.

“I'm fine. I'll be just fine.”

Athena frowns, shrinking back to her normal size.

“Meliora got really hurt... Daddy, can you help her?”

I dunno. If we judge by her actions, she's closer to 10, mentally. I think it's pretty poor parenting to let someone that young date. No matter how smart she is, she doesn't have the emotional maturity to date seriously. I see it ending in tears, instead of cuteness.
>>
You gather up the parts of Meliora's leg that are on the floor.

“Let's bring her back to the room. She's got spare parts there, right?”

Athena nods and smiles.

“Good idea!”

She beams at Meliora.

“You're gonna be all better soon!”

Meliora looks over at you briefly before looking away again. She doesn't say anything though. You walk with Athena back to your room, Athena humming along the way, and when you get there Athena sets Meliora down on the floor next to her bed. You offer her the pieces of her leg and she takes them from you, looking at your hand rather than your face. You back off and head for the couch to sit down.

“So, busy night then?”

Athena nods and flops onto your lap, squirming about as she tries to get comfortable.

“We fought ghouls and had live fire training with monsters and Meliora even told me a secret!”

Meliora throws a wrench in your direction that barely misses your head.

“Don't you tell him! You promised!”

Athena sits up and hugs you, sticking her tongue out at Meliora.

“Don't hurt my daddy! And I wasn't gonna!”

Meliora blushes and huffs, turning away and crawling under her bed. She pulls on her sheet, concealing herself, and you can hear clicking and whirring sounds as she gets to work repairing herself.

Some of her actions are deliberately cute and immature because she knows that it makes us happy and results in affection for her. Some of them are cute and immature because she's only been sapient for a little while. It's difficult to discern her maturity level due to this.

You pat Athena on the head and smile at her.

“Sweetie, I've got a question for you. You remember my friend Andrea, right?”

Athena looks at you and nods.

Athena thinks for a few moments, and you can hear the sound of something inside her head sloshing around. You imagine neurons being connected, test-fired and reconfigured as she assembles a human brain to process the strange human emotion called love. When the sound stops Athena nods.

“Uh-huh. I like her a lot, and I wanna spend time with her.”

Athena grins at you.

“We can play house and she can be the daddy since she's like a prince. And you can be... um... the grandpa. You'd make a good grandpa, because you have glasses.”

You shrug.

“Good enough for me. Just remember that Andrea might be expecting a particular sort of relationship that you might not be ready for. If things get too intense or anything like that, just let me know, alright? And let Andrea know if she does anything you don't like.”

Athena pokes your shoulder gently, her tone switching from sugary sweet to blunt and slightly indignant.

“Daddy? I am smarter than you are, stronger than you are and faster than you are. I can take care of myself.”

She leans on you, returning to her usual tone of voice.

“But maybe you're right. I have a lot to learn.”

You recline a bit and sigh, closing your eyes.

“Sweetie, I think we both do.”

You lean over and kiss the top of her head.

“Speaking of a mommy though, if you could pick one, who would you pick?”

The sounds of Meliora working under her bed suddenly drop in volume significantly, and Athena presses her finger to her chin.

“Hmm... Can I pick more than one? I mean, Jennifer is nice, and Sammy is cool, and Meliora teaches me cool things all the time... What if they were all my mommy at the same time?”

She giggles a bit.

“You need a bigger bed first.”

She pokes your cheek.

“Can I at least tell her good luck on her run before she goes?”

What the fuck happened this thread? Why are people letting Andrea try to date Athena?
>>
>>44971975
Because the anon who doesn't want to be a father got in on it.
>>
You pull out your phone and sigh.

“I'll go with you, but first I need to call her up and make sure that this won't turn into a horrible disaster.”

Athena nods and smiles.

“Okie dokie! And I'm gonna change clothes.”

She walks over to Meliora's closet and rummages around, grabbing a few things and running into the bathroom. You dial Andrea's number and wait, and when she doesn't pick up you send her a text letting her know you're going to stop by with Athena. The bathroom door swings open and Athena walks out in her older body and wearing Meliora's school uniform, with mismatched socks and her hair pulled back in a ponytail. She grins at you and spins around a bit.

“How do I look? Fancy? Will she like it?”

You nod.

“I think so.”

Your phone buzzes, and Andrea has texted back a single word.

“Cool.”

You don't know what to make of that, whether she's trying to contain excitement or dread. The only way to find out is to go and meet with her though. You stretch a bit and pocket your phone.

>Let's get going before they head out.
>She just told me not to bring you, sorry. She's busy.

That anon exists, he tried to dump Athena off on someone else at the very beginning.
>>
“Last chance to back out. You're sure about this? Really sure?”

Athena nods and smiles.

“Mhmm! I am absolutely positive!”

She giggles and runs to the door, throwing it open, and you follow her out.

“Let's get going then.”

Athena nods and crouches down, one leg behind the other, and when she raises her hips and gets into a sprinter's pose you start to jog towards the gym.

“Don't cause any property damage, and don't knock anyone over.”

Athena nods and dashes, rapidly overtaking you and running down the hall towards the gym. You hustle behind her, trying to keep up, or at least keep her in your field of view, and right as you get to the gym she slows down a bit and comes to a stop outside the door. When you catch up to her she smiles cheerfully.

“What should I do to get her attention?”

We've only fought vampires like twice, and Andrea did almost all of the work the second time.
>>
>>44972250
You didn't vote against it. And i expected QM to write Andrea as having a bit of shame when she realized how young Athena is. She's spent enough time with her to know how young she acts.
>>
>>44972341
I wasn't here to vote against it unfortunately, this whole thing just seems like it came out of nowhere.
>>
>>44972341
If nothing else, you'd think she'd start to question her feelings now, since Athena's in her "real" form.
>>
>>44972391
Hi silver, done shitting up akun?
>>
>>44972391
It has come out of nowhere. There was no lead in, and Athena is too young to have a sexual preference.

>Events feeling like they come out of nowhere usually happens once or twice per thread.
Yes, but not something like this, which definitely should have had some lead in considering it could majorly affect character interaction.

>She's in her older form.
Physical age does not equal mental age.
>>
“Just go talk to her, it'll be fine.”

Athena nods and runs into the gym. You peer through the door as she runs up to Andrea, who looks stunned to see her, and proceeds to hug her tightly for a moment and start talking excitedly about something you can't hear. You follow behind her as the pair start to earn some strange looks.

“...and he told me you liked me so I thought we could get some ice cream or something!”

Andrea nods and looks your way before smiling nervously at Athena.

“Oliver, hey! Can we talk for a second? Sorry, Athena, grown up stuff, I need to talk to him for a bit. I'll be right back with an answer for you.”

Andrea walks towards you and grabs your wrist hard, dragging you towards the door. You can feel something brushing against your arm and look down to see a vine starting to work its way around your forearm, gripping tight. The moment you get outside the gym Andrea slams you against a locker and the vine starts to wrap around one of the locks to bind your hand there.

“Talk. Now.”

She glares at you.

“What is this, a joke? A prank? Are you pulling my leg or something? I told you about my crush in confidence, so we could figure it out together, not so you could... could just tell her about it and throw me into the fire! I get that you might tell her, but did you seriously let her just come here when I still haven't worked out if I'm alright with this situation? Have some common sense for once!”

>I told her to make her own decision and she did. I'm just here for damage control.
>I'm sorry, I told her because I wanted to make sure you wouldn't get hurt, this was her idea.
>It's not a joke, Andrea. Athena likes you.

Not letting her stay for the run, but she was insistent on "wishing you luck." It's hard trying to parent someone faster, stronger and smarter than you and they know it.

>>

We did kind of just drop in. She's bound to freak out.
>>
You pull at the vine securing your wrist to the locker for a moment. No dice.

“I told her about it and let her make up her own mind about things. She decided to come and wish you luck on the run. I'm mostly just here to keep her out of trouble. She admitted that she's still figuring things out and she might not be ready for what you're looking for in a relationship, but she likes you, for what it's worth. I don't know if she understands the concept in terms of romance, but that's what she said.”

Andrea grabs the vine, which withers and dies in her hand, crumbling to nothingness as it dries out. She flicks your forehead.

“Bro, you're either the smartest person I know, or the absolute dumbest.”

She sighs and smiles.

“God damn it, Oliver... Well, no going back now.”

Athena pokes her head out the doorway and looks at you both.

“Is everything alright?”

You nod.

“I'm fine, just... talking. Some things that needed to be said.”

Andrea nods.

“Ice cream sounds like a good idea, Athena.”

She heads for the gym and gives Athena a hug.

“We can get to know each other more and see what we wanna do from there.”

Athena smiles brightly and hugs back before waving at Andrea as she walks away. She runs to your side and jumps up and down.

“Eee! Daddy, I have a date! An ice cream social!”

She grabs your hands and spins you around, laughing.

“Whee!”

She sets you down and runs off in the direction of your room, and you follow along behind her, vaguely bewildered. On the one hand, it'll be a good experience for Athena to find out if she can handle this sort of thing, on the other hand, Andrea is probably going to be devastated if she can't. You sigh softly and hope that things work out for the best, somehow.

Nope. I've been here since thread 1, and I guess I and the one other anon are the only ones who remember that Oliver swore to be a better father than his was.

Encouraging our week old daughter to get involved with someone who wants a romantic relationship doesn't fit in any version of good parent I've ever heard of.
>>
>>44973230
You're certainly the only ones that remember how to be salty bitches for hours on end.

You take out your phone and text Tobias, asking how he's doing as you head back to your room.

“I'm alright. We got the last components for the ritual today. Bradley sent us to collect a few things. Francine was acting a little weird today though. Are you still coming to the ritual? Please say yes, we need another person or Bradley is going to flip out. It won't work without an extra person, according to his notes. Who knows, maybe we can try it anyway, but better safe than sorry, right?”

>>
>>44973091
>path to hell
Not even theoretically. Daughteru isn't technically a person.

>dysfunctional, mentally scarred daughter.
Extremely unlikely, unless Andrea decides to be a huge shit and ignore the only important thing we asked of her for not only no benefit, but actively damaging her own interests.
>>
>>44973408
Absolutely, because our actions are what's weighed. Not their effects on others.
And we don't know Andrea that well. Though we do know she hung out with 10 year old Athena a lot, and isn't even phased that the girl she's crushed on is that same child. How is that not sketchy?
