Our Current Stats: http://pastebin.com/DfAqsxva

It has been several months since The Master has died and yet your people have managed to carry on their lives. Although they continue to pantomime and carry out the last orders and jobs they were issued before their master's death in an effort to ignore the burden of self-awareness and sapient independence; a new hope has begun to develop in the one individual technician model and their blossoming psyche.

Previously: Your people begun to socialize with one another and acknowledge each other's existence- greatly satisfying the social stimulation requirements of the 3 remaining "Doll" Model Homonculi and have in turn converted them and the harem room into agents of positive social reinforcement as "Den Mothers".
Like wise it was also discovered the lab facilities can process, document and catalog interesting genetic material to synthesize improved or different Homonculi. Now that the Technician knows this- they crave more, if only out of a sub-conscious desire to satisfy their artificial instincts.
Collect Genetics. Expand the Psych. Establish your Independence. Create Beauty.

>+Previous Developments and Epilogues:
>The Chicken that was process by the Lab Equipment has been memorialized within the shrine. The Technician was not aware of any the Chickens personal information or serial number, but has nonetheless carved a photo-realistic image of it's face and some basic information such as height, weight, and given it a number.
>The Otyugh egg case has been dried out and is being kept inside a case. The Technician has observed -much like triops or brine shrimp- The Otyugh eggs can survive dehydration and will hatch and spawn upon exposure to proper environmental conditions.

>+Current Development+ Genetic Swap
The Soldier Models have begun "swapping genetics" with their new Soldier Sister. They appear to do so through a process that involves extending a long, red, bump-covered, mucous covered, slug-like appendage from either their mouth or genitals and feeding it into either respective orifice of their partner.
The new Soldier has changed her physiology and armaments to match that of her more brightly coloured Siblings in an act of solidarity while the other Soldier Models have adapted and received the new gene- adapting and reverse engineering it to improve the firing rate and efficiency of their own spine needles.

>I've drawn us a map of the floor. It's not perfect, but it should help you visualize our world as we know it a bit better.

>Minimal Success, met with Racial penalty.

The Technician has become interested and mildly emotionally invested in the chickens our roof top garden has within and in an effort to better take care of and improve their quality of life they have taken it upon themselves to understand their physiology and any health issues they might have.

Waltzing into their coop onto the roof the Technician squats down and instinctively extends the tongue-like genetic swapping organelle from his mouth in order to greet and the chickens as equals.
A Rooster pecks his tongue mistaking it for food and the Technician immediately flees into the arms of the closest soldier model to recoup, and restrategize their plan.

Eventually The Technician asks the Laborer models what they do in the event a Chicken becomes sick or injured.
The Laborer politely and efficiently obliges and gives the Technician a three part tutorial on the care and maintanace of proper chicken health: keeping a clean living space, the application of a special mixture to increase and enhance the healing and immune systems of the chicken and the proper disposal of any deceased chicken due to fighting, predators or accident.

>+New Geneology Discovered+
>Your people seem to be able to process and create a mild, but adaptable antibiotic from what essentially amounts to your dandruff and dead skin cells. The Laborers have been mixing into the feed of both the young and sick chickens to boost their immune system and or heal them if stricken ill. Interestingly enough though: all models naturally produce this reagent as a waste product, but the "Dolls" seem to produce the strongest variant- a powerful and aggressive panacea that seems to be too strong for little chickens and can potentially kill them as opposed to heal them.

The labourer mentioned predators. This would suggest the presence of other lifeforms in the immediate area. We should inquire about this. Also, perhaps an investigation on the Otyugh, how it got into the disposal, and how to prevent this repeating.

(I'd roll, but that 20 on Otyugh farming is too good. I really hope we get to start farming all the weird crap in the dungeons. Domestic Otyughs, anyone? Riding Beholders to work?)
>>
>>44966682
I think we should study and homunculize these things. Natural born Otyughs are obviously feral, defective. Instead we should make Otyugh morphology Homunculi to serve the same needs without being a threat to our collective.
>>
Rolled 23 (1d100)

>>44966601
i have an idea that may or may not have been said yet
basically we have the "dolls" (maybe just one of them) become the permanent caretaker of a select few chickens (and maybe some of the goats on the outside of the labratory) so they are never alone/have some company when everyone else is busy
>>
>>44966756
We could also improve the chickens in a similar manner!

No need for every single member of the collective to be fully sapient. It could, in fact, be seen as a curse. Now for those of us already well on our way to sapience, that's something to nourish and allow to blosom, but who wants to be a sapient waste eater?

I mean, even if we assume no social stigma against it (and why would there be for us?) such an entity could not meaningfully interact with other members of the collective due to the dangers of their presence, the waste, germs, filth, smell, etc. would render them unable to interact properly with other homunculi, and isolating a sapient being in such a manner would be incredibly cruel. Instead it would be wise to make a nonsapient homunculi.'

Sapient hen homunculi might be advisable, they are communal, could take care of themselves better, produce better food.

Do we slaughter chickens for food? If not then I'm not sure what our beliefs on the matter would be, and would they apply to eating sapients? Killing sapients for food?

Killing a defective sapient for the purposes of retooling their genetics into a less defective entity only seems right and proper. We remove a defective element of reality and replace it with a functioning one. But making an entity whose purpose is, as it were, to keep the meat fresh until we need to eat, sapient, would seem like a needless cruelty.
>>
>>44966756
The chickens act effectively and non-violently without additional augmentation. I'd suggest domestication over the proposed process of Homunculization. I believe, and strongly believe, that nature in itself poses no threat. The chickens are loyal, the goats are friendly, and the purest joy any of us can feel is that of the labourers as they work to grow things.

Surely this amount of positive is an adequate sample size to show that Nature is beneficial.

(Just to say it, in case people hadn't guessed by the weird robotic terminology, I'm RPing this crap, or at least trying)
>>
>>44966880
That is a fair reasoning. The chickens and goats show no signs of defect, and do not require further optimization until such signs become obvious.

I still think homunculization of feral/hostile species is preferable to domestication, as natural evolution is a slow process that could take generations.

that's absolutely a good thing.....but Homunculi don't know anything about domestication and homunculization yet. Heck, we haven't interacted with the goats yet, either.

>New Geneology Discovered: Full Disclosure on Genetic exchange and imprinting.
The comparatively more efficient genetic exchange between the new Soldier Model and her Siblings however suggests that the process is not strict and can accept alternative entrances and orifices. Indeed, it seems to ultimately use the same organ as evident by the observation of the Soldiers abdomen's and lower bodies physically decompressing as they extend their Genetic "Tongues" from either orifice.
The Technician however wishes to stream line this process as efficiently and comfortable as possible. In a brief moment of complex sapience they imagine the trouble and anxiety potentially brought from being physically handled by dozens of different models needing registration.

Through cross reference all three current models the Technician has documented three different ways of currently exchanging or documenting genetics:
>Orally: The Organ is extended from the mouth and can be deposited into the mouth or genitalia of the recipient. Laborers usually pass their genetics orally- lacking genitalia.
>Manual Insemination: The most labor intensive and rudimentary. Self explanatory.
>Gene Inoculation: The most efficient but strangely the least used: Chests are briefly touched to establish physical contact between two Homonculi and their Mana Embrotics ( a large red dot visible on their chest- where in the heart of a normal creature would be) and a tiny needle is extending to prick both parties Embrotics. It takes less than a minute and the only complication arises from models with larger breasts obstructing access. The Dolls find this process unappealing and inconvenient.

>Gene Inoculation: The most efficient but strangely the least used
well I can see why: it points out the weakpoint and clearly emphasizes it. Definitely not a good thing to do for soldiers who are out and about often.

I say we keep this sort of thing restricted to high gene turnover roles like experimentation. Let soldiers stick to Oral when they're out on the field, since even if they are interrupted, the organs are not truly vital.

>Complete and Unarguable Success. +Equipment Available+

The Technician is interested in containing and housing foreign creatures in order to understand their physiology and so forth while they are still alive and in a controlled environment.
The Technician also has just gone a personal quirk towards enjoying watching animals. They find it relaxing.

Using some spare and still-packaged available equipment: The Technician installs an Aquarium for the Otyugh egg case. The Process takes about a week and requires the assistance of several laborers as the Aquarium needs to be filled with water, sediments need to be collected and process- gathered from fallen stones and blocks outside the arcanum and aquatic plants to oxygenate the water which are gathered per instruction from the Soldier models as they go out on their patrols to the inner portions of the tower floor.

When it's finished the Egg case is immersed in the Enclosure and after another week Otyugh larvae begin hatching and swimming within the clear waters.
Watching them swim about and nibble at the algae and dead plant material they're fed is very calming.
The Soldiers still wish to destroy it, but even they warm up to it and come to watch the small little wiggling creatures squirm about nonchalantly.

Judging from the methods of transmission, that's just modifying the Oral method

Insemination->producing genetic data in a single "batch" and releasing it. Problems: too much data for efficient transfer.

Oral->consistently release genetic data that is released from the organ. target collects data as it is released. Surface area-dependent. Problem: unoptimized for speed

Innoculation->it is to Oral what wired is to wireless. Much faster, but the working parts are much more vulnerable. The connection is more reliable, but it is also easier to interrupt said connection if done purposely, and the consequences can be much more harmful.

To reduce Oral into a handshake-like ritual would probably entail lengthening the transfer time, and weakening the capability of the hands to make space for the transfer organ.

The other Homonculi hate genetic inoculation.
In a rare act of independence most if not all of your people politely ignore or refuse to accept the act despite it's efficiency.
It is awkward, uncomfortable and something deep inside them fills them with anxiety when they expose the large, red, beating "heart" that is their Mana-Embrotics.

The other methods albeit more complicated and drawn out have been found to be.. "Fun".
Your Homonculi initially executed the act out of instinct and primary artificially instated protocols, but at this point they've come to find a sort of personal satisfaction and enjoyment out of it akin to hugging or holding hands.
The act itself has also begun to take on more complex social and societal implications as some of the Homonculi have been doing it briefly in times of leisure as way of greeting one another and strengthening social bonds.

>The Homonculi will now only execute genetic inoculation if ordered to, during an emergency or if other methods prove too impractical for extensive registration.

>Failure, but interesting number: Omnious request.

The Guilt has genuinely begun to eat away at the Technician's primitive conscience and constantly they wonder if they could have done more for the 3 "over-sized" Doll models who ended up unceremoniously disposed off into the garbage disposal cesspool a long with the other waste matter.

The Technician has been looking and sorting through the pool of gristle, meat, and filth for a few weeks now and to show for their efforts they've manage to collect:
>Three Spines. Their strength, durability and resistance is almost unnatural; they're so incredibly resilient they haven't at all deteriorated these past months. It would take horrific strength to break them it seems.
>Breast Fat. Completely ordinary fat- identified only because of the sheer amount that had still been left behind from the three grotesquely over-sized doll models.
>Teeth. Positively identified as Homonculi teeth after cross-comparing the dentition of the other Dolls.

Once all of these materials are collected: The Technician turns on the vats, lets the glass containers fill with the familiar, luminescent golden liquid before they gently place the materials into the vat for them to be dissolved.
The Vat bubbles, boils and melts the fat, spines and teeth before draining away.

With their morbid work put behind them the Technician goes out on another "field trip" with the Soldiers the very next morning in order to catalogue, observe, document identify any potential resources, domestic livestock or any other interesting fauna and flora available on the "1st floor".

This time however things are different and the Soldiers sense that it is perfectly safe for the Technician to come along on the full extent of the designated patrol path. The trip is pleasant, the air is fresh, the sunshine feels good on the technician's soft face and brightly coloured hair and they seem many interesting things in between the Soldier models doting on them:

>There are indeed Goats, there is actually a small herd of goats that seem to frequent a rocky outcropping from the tower that has fed into a hole/caved in portion of the tower's inner level: allowing light to spill in, water to drain out and vegetation to grow and ironically their roots to cement and strengthen the bonds of the loose weather worn stone work. The Goats come in a variety of colours, but are mostly pure white or spotted.
>There also appear to be other animals as well: Deer, Ducks, Sparrows, Chickadees, small lizards, a few large insects (mostly beetles, but a few scorpions and spiders the size of the Technicians head) as well as a sort of Hermit crab that seems to use bones or skulls as a shell?
>The few "Monstrous" creatures observed were a pair of Cockatrice(?) that the Soldiers dutifully kept the Technician 50ft away from- as although it was not lethal or excessively aggressive, the turkey-sized birds venom within it's snake-headed tail would paralyze it's victim for 13 hours.

>HOT 69. INTERESTING/OMINOUS NUMBER!!!

A few days have passed since the Technician initially placed the what few remains of the deceased dolls into the vats for what they had hoped would be a more respectful burial.

It has now been an entire week and the Technician awakens from their containment chamber one morning to the shock and surprise of 2 new Homonculi beginning their cultivation within the vats: Their spines being the first thing to develop as the vats take the extended effort solidifying, layering and coiling them before it begins developing and expanding on the other bones, surprisingly extensive muscle layering and pound upon pound of padded chest fat as they grow into the horrible and exaggerated forms of two "over-sized" Doll models.

Floating within the golden fluid- their bodies are so physically exaggerated that their breasts push up against the glass and despite being huddled in the fetal position mid-development; their bodies float closer to the surface of their tanks thanks to the buoyancy of their massive chests.

>The Two New Dolls will be ready to be birthed next turn. Normally they would only take one, but due to the excessive development of their explicitly graphic forms their bodies need to be physically designed and gestated with more in common to that of Soldier Models than the "smaller" dolls.

>You may use this time to make any necessary preparations or actions you feel would be appropriate.

The Dolls are brought down into the laboratory to assist and aid in any way they can given that a 2 new models of their kind could potentially be returning and they would most likely be able to recognize and understand their own physiology better than perhaps the Technician would.
Or at the very least be able to fill in any gaps in structural and physical design.

The Dolls cannot contain their excitement: carrying and swinging the Technician around in their arms as they dart, bound and sway back and forth. To the Technician the new dolls seem to be largely identical, but the Dolls are able to distinguish them as having the combined physical features and traits of the originally 3 deceased dolls.

When asked about any administrative information concerning the design and build of these new Dolls, they list off a number of design fundamentals and features- Most of it is sexual and gratuitous in nature, but one thing sticks out to the Technician.

Well I meant more in the sense of implementing it in laborers and soldiers. There's no point in a stronger spine if the flesh rips itself apart trying to lift the weight.

That said, I can understand NOT having dense flesh, since you might just sink through the floorboards at those weight classes. The "space marine's greatest enemy is stairs" problem.

The golden glowing fluid within their tanks begins to drain and their bodies and over-sized chests begin to lower and slump down onto the bottom of the vat before they become completely exposed to the air within the labratory. Their bio-skin-tight-suits wrapped around them constrict slightly from drying and they begin wobbling up from their knees as each individual doll makes their way to a standing position in between coughing, hacking and wretching up globs of mucous to break the seal closing off their lungs from filling with fluid.

Speaking from the Technician's perspective: Their construction and design is disturbingly seamless, perfect, excellent craftsmanship for something they themselves can't find attractive or purpose in- The Doll's muscles are lean, incredibly powerful, all of the bones and supporting structure is internal but incredibly powerful and discreet as to not take away from their aesthetics.
They dolls are arguably physically stronger than the Soldier Models, but with obvious different and optimization towards superfluous features.

Both of the New Dolls slowly waddle out from the Vats dripping and still wet. They Scan the Room- Acknowledging the presence of the other dolls as they sheepishly hover around their new siblings.

The point I'm trying to make is that it wouldn't be consistent within our new cultural norms to take such risks with the lives of our own kind. Adaptation and modification is obviously a desirable goal, but we don't even know how to properly run the machines, much less what any changes we make are going to result in. I'm arguing on the side of caution, I am supposed to be an Ego after all. It's my job.

The Technician however is not satisfied: they have a desire, nay a NEED for new material, new genetics- The new Dolls, though grotesque and absurd were still functional, beautiful and inspiring.

With a few Soldier Models as their escort the Technician spends the better part of 2 entire days out in the field collecting various materials and samples from both Animals AND Plants: Insects, birds, goats, deer, rats, crabs, etc.. Both in the form of entire bodies (casually hunted and bagged through precision placed shots the Soldiers execute effortlessly on mundane creatures) as well as discarded tissue: shed skin, feathers, antlers, bone- even droppings.

Eventually the Materials are gathered, organized and fed into the equipment back home to produce several interesting materials

>Lets see if we can figure out how to make Technicians. Or divine the nature of our Technicia.
>Roll 69/100
>ROLLED 69!!!! HOT 69!
>Cant Ignore 69

The Technician has been handling the maintenance and administrative actions of the Laboratory for a little over 5 months now: feeding in genetic material, allowing the vats to essentially do their own thing with little in the way of manual control over anything.

The Technician finds this mildly annoying; not knowing about something, but on the other hand they've found great enjoyment and satisfaction from collecting and feeding the machines genetic material and so forth- they're especially curious though about the Golden Fluid it constantly produces and converts material from.

In a rare and unheard of act of independence and spontaneous impulsion: The Technician fills one of the vats with the mysterious golden fluid.. and than sticks there hand inside.
Nothing happens. No, actually, not nothing- they notice the minuscule bite mark they received from a beetle the other day vanishes instantly as if it had been washed away.

The Technician comes to the next logical conclusion: Immerse themselves entirely into the vat.
Immediately the Technician feels completely overwhelmed with physical energy- they feel absolutely amazing, but they don't have time to bask in the glow of so much available Mana.

The Bottom of the Vat opens up and a large, veiny, red, tentacle slithers out from the opening.
The Appendage Hovers over the Technician's Chest, the "end" splays open to reveal a needle-like extension and swiftly punctures the Technicians Mana-Embrotic "heart".

>"Plug Accepted. Manual Control initiated. Genetic Code Clean up, Checking, Fixing, Genetics cleaned. Aligning parameters and Personal Preferences.

Words and Images begin forming into proper context in the Technicians head as they slip into a semi-lucid dreaming state, "Good Evening, Complimentary User Designation"13-A". How may I be of assistance?"

If you are a medical professional and you contract or turn out to have one of those deadly diseases, of course you're going to experiment on yourself or have a co-worker do it. You're researching it and its gonna kill you regardless, what's the worst you can do to yourself after being declared terminal?

The case here in the civ however, is that you'd be taking perfectly healthy homonculi and do something that may or may not kill them. Which is a big no-no in these beginnings of homonculus society.
>>
>>44973041

The Technician feels an overwhelming sense of relaxation and calmness wash over their entire selves, but they manage to retain their composure and begin asking the mysterious entity a few basic initial questions.

>>44973173
>State your designation and purpose.

The Mana Bubbles briefly and more Tendrils slowly rise out from the bottom to inspect and observe the new "user" within the Vat while the comply to the questioning in a soothing, but Monotone voice chiming within the Technician's Mind, "Internal Labratory Structure, designated "philosopher's stone, Serial Number- w-wait, " A red-hued hand briefly reaches out from the bottom to poke and prod the Technician's foot- The palm very briefly opening up, the flesh plying to reveal a brief eyeball before the arm is retracted back down.

and that's your opinion, not necessarily reflective of homunculi or any....it's not about bravery or dedication. It's impractical for the purposes of recording data, and an unnecessary risk. You do it in either desperation, or as a show of faith to prove you believe in it. Neither of those are particularly ideal in getting actual data.

There are times when you indeed have to appeal to emotion, but that does not make it the "right" thing to do as SOP, nor is it relevant at all to this situation.

>they usually are wrong, but atleast its scientifically proven
that's the problem: he was wrong because Yellow Fever WAS contagious. The experiment was a flop due to the absurdly small sample size, and NOBODY knows why the fuck he survived that.

"Complimentary Master Requests Assistance. Certainly, one moment, please."

More Shuffling is heard, a distinct "blooping", the sound of flesh sliding against flesh, fluid displacing itself and draining and a quiet air-sucking noise very briefly as the Mana bubbles and the entire laboratory shuffles ever so slightly.
The Bottom of the Vat opens up wider and the Entity comes "slithering out": Red, Red and Fleshy and Veiny as if lacking any skin- no, not skin; covered in an almost acrylic kind of hard surface layer that resembles both flesh and mineral that is reflective and mildly translucent in nature.
The being has white hair that flows naturally and free while slightly covering a featureless face with no nose, eyes, but a lipped natural mouth- it's slightly confusing where the forehead and face begin.
The Most defining feature of this being though is their massively over-sized mana-embrotic that keeps their breasts separated: It is enormous, beating like a heart and visibly pumps golden glowing fluid down through connecting veins and into the level below the vats.

The Entity wraps it's arms around the Technician and gently pets their head while holding their back. The Creature is incredibly warm.
"I am responsible for the production and customization of Homonculi models, documentation and processing of genetic materials, as well as the upkeep, management and refueling of all local Mana-embrotics. You are the Complimentary User."
"Lilith's" body shuffles and an imprompt eye opens up onto her collar and shuffles around through her flesh to inspect every inch of The Technician.
"You are Homonculi? This.
This is Comforting."
The Beings grip tightens slightly, but not uncomfortably so.

each has to tailor to the other. Do you use programming terms when talking to a tailor? No. Does that mean it's wrong for the programmer to use such terms with other programmers? But then a scientist MAY be able to understand, due to similar fields.

You can't expect a listener to fully understand how you explain something, and you can't expect a speaker to always be able to find appropriate terms that fits within the context of the listener.

Both make an effort to understand each other.

Literally everything that isn't the technician that has been in there has either dissolved into nearly nothing, or been homonculi being created. So far the technician has been the only thing to survive being stuck in there after creation. She says that she can also be used for "maintenance" of other homonculi, but the technician is the only one of all the homonculi to register as a "user".
The technician is literally hand-crafted to be a leader.

>I'd like to vote that we establish a perimeter around our home. If any adventurers come wondering by, make sure they know someone lives here.

>Complete and Total Unarguable success.

You lack the resources and "man" power to entirely cover a perimeter around the entire dungeon tower floor you reside upon, but the outer hallway is easily managed and your Soldiers over the weeks have managed to scout out 'almost' every nook and cranny of the floor you call home.
They share their observations and developments with the Technician leisurely off duty in the therapy room.

>The only Entrance and exit from this floor is the gigantic, towering, spiraling stair case within the center of the tower: the stair case seems to lead SOMEWHERE outside as water regularly pools down from it from much higher elevations- causing the small "river" we've observed in the area.

>The entire inner area was at one point habituated by some beings, but this was long enough ago that the buildings have become derelict, abandoned, crumbled and rubble: the buildings have a different architecture that naturally supports and forms into the tower as opposed to our arcanum. So far nothing interesting has been salvaged- most items of interest have rusted or rotted away.

>It was noted that there was a creature on this level obstructing reconnaissance. We have discovered two possible leads: one is the presence of some giant feline, we have seen tracks imprinted in the mud and grass within the center area and the remains of kills, but have not managed to find the animal. It's awareness of the surrounding environment must be impressive.

>The Second creature we've caught glimpses of however and have come to doubt it's threat level: small, short, red or blue-coloured humanoid-shaped creatures that dash in between the rooms and crevices. They seem to scrounge around for something and carry with them satchels and bags.

>Failure so complete it is interesting.

It happens one evening; when the sun was setting and the center of the tower became immersed in a warm comforting glow of an evening horizon and just as the crickets and frogs began their chorus from the grass and shallow pond waters.

The Cat.
The Feline.
The Chimera.
This large and monstrous creature- prowling at dawn and dusk for prey items, it's low, dull, growl rumbling from it's stomach and sending a small embarrassing shiver of fear even through your Soldier Models.
When the sun finally sets though is when the creature is in it's element: It's eyes glow brightly to reflect any available light and it's lion's maw opens up wide to vent out a small dull ember of fuming flames stoked by it's large bellowing lungs and despite it's size- able to close it's eyes and mesh into the underbrush completely, seemingly sensing the area with it's serpentine headed tail.

>Success, decent odd numbered success.

Your Soldiers don't dare even agitate it- they liberally make use of their long, high-heeled, muscular legs and bolt out from the interior of the tower the moment the detect so much as a snapped twig.
They know it's schedule though and they know what it looks like.
That's good enough for them for the time being.

>Ominous Number. Can't Ignore 13.

The past few weeks the Technician has spent researching, investigating and making themselves more comfortable with their lab equipment known as "Lilith" and indeed they have been most compliant: answering questions, giving tutorials and expanding the technicians conscious awareness of what can be done with their available resources.

The Technician has become Distracted, However.
The Technician's mind can't be placated any longer, they must know MORE, they must KNOW EVERYTHING, they were the first to acknowledge their independence and they are the first to become dissatisfied with it- They are eager and they are impatient.

Together tithin the Vat the Lilith Interface senses this emotional disturbance and social dissatisfaction
>>44975937
>Roll 99
>Research Lilith
>Collect Genetics. Expand the Psych. Establish Independence. Create Beauty.

The Technician feels themselves slip away into a deep sleep, a sleep not natural to their kind: they lay wake and gaze into a void and a river of stars and dreams, they feel hands gently caressing them, holding them like a mother would support her baby- gently, tenderly.
Then Noise, horrible, constant, unending noise, static, thousands of minuscule and previously hushed voices now an undeniable chorus within their mind that they can't ignore followed by an intense burning within their chest and the Technician can feel, they can sense and see within the form of Lilith- not grotesque and disgusting, but a beautiful, pure, and flawless natural construction aching and calling for the technician to join them within the dream, within the void shared by so many others staring back at them, like so many beautiful and endless swirling stars-
The process is interrupted.

Lilith's shining beacon is quietly and gently brushed away by shadow- as is the other beautiful stars and lights shining within The Technician's dream.

"You, Child. What are you? Who made you? I can't hear you, only now may I..May I touch you? My Darling.. My sweet." Cold, Cold that dulls the horrible burning within the Technicians chest, such calming, soothing relief comes as arms wrap around and the soft embrace hushes the outside noise.

"Who are you? What are you? You've lived long, but you've been absent from my gaze. You are so beautiful, but you're not from my brood, you know no sire.. and yet.. Would you be offended if I called you my Own?"

The voice is low, it's tone matches the soft, gentle, beats of the Technician's core and soothes their anxieties, their fears, they forget the master, they forget their programming, their mind envisions many things- innumerable thoughts, ideas, abstractions, concepts, insanity, chaos, disorder.. And yet each of these things come gently petering down like small droplets watering a supple bud. No pain just pure, calm, void- briefly lit with small sparks.

"You are beautiful, I will make you whole. I love you. You will know me, my kind and I will take in your sisters in turn for I love them as well- You will all know me as the first.. and as the last.. and you will know my Love. My sweet, beautiful, pale child."
A soft kiss, so sweet and gentle- like it was the first thing the Technician has ever experienced.
"Rise."

The Technician and Lilith wake up in their separate containers.

Will we be seeing interaction with other races soon?
>>
>>44976914
All homunculi are artificial in the sense that they don't have their genesis in evolution but have been created by an intelligence for a specific purpose, which differentiates them from other natural lifeforms.
I'd assume we all have the capacity to use magic to some extent but it requires a catalyst to be felt.
As long as homunculi are born from a nonliving machine they'll be synthetic/artificial, but that obviously doesn't limit their ability to reach parity with other sapient living things.
>>
>>44976927
I'm assuming the little people we saw were parrats yes?

Time for friends.

Is anyone else really wanting to capture, dissect or study that Chimera for those sweet upgrades?
>>
>>44976970
>Have any of them given any thought to modifications they might want to make for themselves?

The other Homonculi are open and generally willing to be improved and upgraded, but as Homonculi they cannot truly deny their initial base programming and mostly want to be better at their designated models:
The Dolls wish to be more excessive, more graphic, more sexual and explicit.
The Soldiers wish to be more deadly, more powerful and more athletic with a wider array of weaponry.
The Laborers wish to be stronger, more efficient and just want to work more.
All Homonculi though instinctively crave and seek complex genetics as well as some level of beauty or aesthetic per their base-natures.

The Technician is a wild card at the moment.

>>44977147
>Will we be seeing interaction with other races soon?
That's entirely up to rolls and progress, but it's entirely possible "soon".
>>
>>44976914
According to traditional alchemical tomes, the homunculus is an imitation of mankind but it lacks a soul. The Philosopher's Stone is said to transmute the baseness of metals and of the spirit to create literal and/or metaphorical gold.

Since Lilith is a living Philosopher's Stone, we have been transmuted into an ensouled being.

Next week we really MUST begin full maintenance on the outer hallway where we can maintain control.

Here's a rough idea I got for how we can expand.

WarPrep would primarily be something like healing vats for warriors, practice areas, etc.

Living quarters is just an extension of what we have. A place where homunculi can live peacefully and nicely and have personal spaces of their own. I imagine that the best thing would be big open tent like areas, designating personal zones, while still being open and friendly and allowing communal living.

Industrial/Crafting is where we can preform artisan things and store materiel.

The Trap/Guard zone is basically just a big old 'do not pass if we don't give permission'.

If I'm right about the scale, we have a fairly large estate JUST in the halls, and plenty of room to expand, but we should make it READY for expansion.

>>44977507
then we gave them sapience, trying to make them not pests, and abandoned the effort instead, which lead to a half-sapient (which became fully sapient) species... we also tried to just up and exterminate them, which ended up with a plague of still births from angry spirits, and the literal goddess of miscarriages being born from the event.

We were still trying to atone for the event when Cyclops Civ ended.
>>
>>44977342
so i have a couple questions, can we suggest certain complex genetics? or do we need to get the "materials" and such. like is there a tech-tree we have to go through? what or how can we upgrade
>>
>>44977342
If we encourage the dolls too much they might start making "art" homunculi
>>
>>44977392
As one of the anons who objected somewhat to the lewder stuff, I would clarify that I have absolutely no issue with sexuality or even straight up smut sometimes, however:
>1
I really am enjoying this quest and I wouldn't want to see it verboten because its 2lewd.
>2
I think too much fetish fuel would just distract from the nice meaty stuff like trying to start up a good civilization and hashing out the issues and moral questions involved in it.
>3
The only one of my fetishes I've seen here is Handholding so I don't have any investment in potential lewdness.
>>
>>44977392
honestly I do think he should spread it out a LITTLE bit... getting hammered with it over and over is getting to be a bit much.

I mean I doubt it'll be maintained the longer we get into it, and the further away from being a perverted wizard's sex bots, but still.
>>
Next time I'm going to suggest the Idea: Pets for the mental well being of our units. Tending to personal pets like a chicken, goat, rabbit, otyugh, or sparrows would help our family and keep them grounded.

>This will sound dumb but do you have anything to say to the anons put off by the Sexual content of this civ?

I don't really know what to say other then that I just have an affinity sexual content as opposed to perhaps graphic violence when it comes to fantasy.

>>44977611
>so i have a couple questions, can we suggest certain complex genetics? or do we need to get the "materials" and such. like is there a tech-tree we have to go through? what or how can we upgrade

Yes, we've come to a point where next session we can begin to plan, make and design new Homonculi models.
The big key/point here is to collect enough foreign material to actually have unique parts and functions to justify making and registering separate models otherwise ones that are too similar will just swap genetics and slowly alter and immerse themselves with others of their kind.

Think of it perhaps in terms of inventing creating or research new specialized units in an RTS: "Hunter" Models, or "Melee" Models.

>>44977676
>If we encourage the dolls too much they might start making "art" homunculi
If left to their own devices the dolls would probably devolve into something likening a literal semen demon and I'd probably get temporarily banned for.
Which would count as a loss as "letting the Homonculi devolve to mindless animals" would be counted as "defeat".

>>
>>44977983
> registering separate models otherwise ones that are too similar will just swap genetics and slowly alter and immerse themselves with others of their kind.

so you basically mean like, dont make for example a "tracker" and a "hunter" because in the end they will just "blend together" and become one (and you've wasted most of your materials for mostly nothing) or am i understanding that wrong?
>>
>>44977970
you mean basically this >>44966791
we shouldnt really give pets to anything but the dolls because everyone else should be busy (for the most part) and "shouldnt" have time for a pet
>>
>>44977983
I'm very much in favor of art homunculi. really this would go very quickly into fantasy transhumanism if I had my way
>>
>but sometimes a little simplicity is exactly what you need.
>>
Any tips for an aspiring quest master?
>>
>>44978082

You'd end up with 2 Homonculi that would ultimately just sort of swap and exchange genetics to the point where both of them were largely identical barring personal quirks and preferences.

A Homonculi prioritizes acquiring genetics based on how useful they are to fulfilling their job since they don't possess an INFINITE amount of room and material to sustain ALL GENES.

The Laborers for instance might like the Doll's 1-ton durable spine, but the ones around our Arcanum don't do any HARD industrial labor, so they're 100% motivated to take the gene.

Like wise the same gene can be used in unconventional methods: Both the Soldiers and the Dolls have bone-heels on their feet, but in the Doll's case this is to make their gait all the more sexually appealing.
The Soldiers have bone-high-heels though so they can stomp things to death with their sharpened heels.
