The Voidsinger stands in front of his newly formed Necrolyte Legion formed of Soldiers formerly belonging to the Osjiic Empire-States and the Dagger Pirates. There was still some dissent among the former adversaries, the two forces originally locked in a vicious battle before their "recruitment" into the New Necrotic Armada.

There had been a brief brawl between a gang of Netu and group of Osjiic as they were gathering their armor and weapons. Trolls moved to intervene but the Voidsinger waved them off as he stormed in. Void energy rippled around his body as he reached a hand forth then yanked his fist back, pulling a large Osjiic off a Netu bleeding on the floor and throwing the gray-skinned warrior crashing into her comrades. A stomp of his foot and the fighters find themselves lifted into the air, Void energy pulsing around the Voidsinger as he berated them for their childishness.

Now the Legionnaires stood side-by-side armored and armed with the best the Cauldrons could offer as the Voidsinger inspected them alongside Jor and the troll with the scorched armor. Satisfied they march from the moon-base, now reshaped and repurposed into their new barracks and home, onto the airless surface. A Light Cruiser flanked by a pair of Corvettes and Frigates each await their new living crews.

Your voice emanates from the scorched troll, speaking to the Voidsinger before he boarded his new Light Cruiser, "Bring honor and glory to yourself and your new fleet. Prove yourself to me and you shall earn your name and eternity by my side. Show the galaxy the way of the Conquering Worm."

The Voidsinger kneels before the reconstructed channeling your presence, "Hail the New Necrotic Armada. The Necrolyte Legion will not disappoint you, this I swear," he says with utmost conviction before departing for his ship.

Completed Research:
>Volcanic Fungal-Lichen: This fast growing organism resembles both fungus and lichen lifeforms on other planets but unique to the moon. The organism grows in wide-spread mats of organic material mostly around volcanic vents and hotsprings. A chemosynthetic bacteria thriving in pockets through the fungal-lichen allows it to gain energy from the normally toxic chemicals common in the volcanic landscape. This organism provides much of the basis for the local food-chain, most creatures feeding on the conical growths of nutritious matter.

>Lava Doves: Another radially five-limbed echinoderm like the Stonestars the Lava Doves are small timid creatures that feed on fungal-lichen and smaller gastropods and echinoderm. It's most striking ability is the ability to shift the color and even texture of their skin to blend in almost perfectly with the landscape. Their limbs can launch them into the air, limbs flattening and flapping to send the creature spinning into the distance in flight from predators.

>Armatocere food offering: The Armatocere food offering was just as they said. A variety of exotic fruits, vegetables and other highly nutritious plant matter. Most of the food lacked seeds or a way to germinate the crop. There were two though that had the potential for producing crops. A fast growing tuber with fist-sized nodules rich in vital vitamins. And a bright red-orange fruit oddly high in protein with dark almost black meat inside with a syrupy juice, the small fruits growing on a vine.

>Tyrre Blade Armor: The Tyrre's Bladed Armor was a wicked blend of defense and offense, thermal blades extending from elbows, forearms, shoulders, forehead, chest, knees and feet. The simple exoarmor boosted the already formidable strength of the berserker race and viciousness.
>>
>>44967105
Unlocked:
Fungal-Lichen Farm: A large field of modified fungal-lichen grows rapidly around channels of liquid carrying a mix of necrotic fluid and volcanic springwater. Each farms harvest can provide for 10 Chitin-Slugs. Requires the presence of a volcanic spring to function. Cost: 150B 20M (Includes 10 Chitin-Slugs in price)

Advanced Camoflage Adaptaion: A layer of mimetic flesh allows units to rapidly change both its color and texture to blend in with it's surroundings with increased capability. Able to mimic a wide array of surfaces. Cost: 5B

Crops: Vitatubers and Fleshfruit can now be grown by your living forces in hydroponic farms.

Bladed Armor adaptation: Reconstructed units can now be created with thermal-vibroblades jutting from their bodies increasing their deadliness in close-quarters by turning their whole body into a weapon. Cost: 3M

Your Eyegores start to contact you one by one, the three new craft emerging at their destinations and beginning their scans of the new systems.

Star: Medium Orange
Planets:
2 Rocky planets
1 Habitable planet
1 Ice planet
Occupying Forces: Confederacy of Planets
Notes: The habitable planet is home to a decently sized mining colony. It's main exports appear to be metal ore, food-stuffs, and a unique and popular local food harvested from local wild-life. Scans indicate the presence of a military installation with a subterranean complex on one of the rocky planets with Sub-capitols patrolling the system, a battlecruiser sitting in orbit.

Star: White Dwarf
Planets:
3 Rocky planets
2 Ice planets
Occupying Forces: None
Notes: This system, despite the presence of planets with mining resources, seems to have been skipped for population by any faction. A scan of the sector reveals the remains of military complex hidden among the peaks of a mountain range engulfed by glaciers. The debris of long-destroyed spacecraft litter the system, another potential source of metal resources.

Star: Yellow Giant
Planets:
1 Rocky planet
1 Habitable Planet
1 Sparse Asteroid Belt
1 Gas Giant
1 Ice Planet
Occupying Forces: Armatocere
Notes: A system under control of the Armatocere. Host to treeships drifting in the orbits of the habitable planet, the gas giant moons, the ice giant and the rocky planet. Scans reveal what appears to be a shipyard "grove" of massive trees in various states of growth on the habitable planet. Harvesting facilities gather fuel from the gas giant and water from the ice planet, domes of sturdy bark slung low to the ground. The rocky planet appearing to be undergoing terraforming with a treeship larger than a Capitol Battleship hauling a captured comet towards it.

Idea, different races have different brains, each work differently and aspects of each combined could do more than the sum of there parts, also those overcome by the fire of the void can still think without the flesh that was once there, that means that the void itself can be used as a medium of though.

If we combine all that we can upgrade the thinktanks again, but that's not the only idea I have.

We are starting to spread from planet to planet and system to system. In each system I suggest we build A super thinktank that can run and organized the entire thing

Awesome new research and information!

I'm definitely thinking we should upgrade our existing forces. So anyone who currently has camoflage, such as Eyegores, Stalkers, Shadows and should get the upgrade(146*5=730B). I'm also thinking are gargoyles and cyclops could gain from having it, but I'm not sure if anyone wants that. Oh, and any crit crawls should get the upgrade as well.

Would Nekris get the upgrade automatically?

Also, I'm thinking most of our army could benefit from the Bladed Armor adaptation. Will our heros automatically get those upgrades?
I'm thinking we should move on the White Dwarf immediately, see if we can get any info or tech from the military complex and start more mining bases. Though those will have to wait until the current ones finish and we actually have the metal to do it.

Two more of your eyegores contact you, alerting you as they watched over hostile systems.

The one stationed at the rim of the Osjiic system housing the siege factories reporting that the investigatory fleet searching for Agona has begun to mobilize. Ships are brought in and refueled, transmissions indicating that they were preparing to continue their search.

Similarly the heavily populated system the Ahkam and Osjiic fought in was mobilizing it's fleets as well, the shadow of the adult Ahkam twisting in between the ships clustering together. Lightning flashed occasionally in the void, striking shields of nearby ships but only illuminating the shields as they absorbed the strikes harmlessly.

On Horizon's Drop your Gargoyles watch as Red-Leaf-Strains leads her herd through mountain passes blowing cold and sharp. It wasn't time yet for the snows to come but the cold was already there, biting into them and their short furs. The herd travels in close groups, the young and old huddled in the center.

A straggler was almost taken by a small group of harpoon-beasts but the warriors of the tribe drove them off with heavy stones launched from their slings. The way was hard but still they persisted, Red-Leaf-Strains and her sisters encouraging their kin with the knowledge that food and warmth awaited them at the colony of the strangers.

There was much to tend to, many worlds and minds to overlook.

Last thread something massive in the ocean of Rukor destroyed a Coffin.

Eyegores were created and sent to new system in search of Akka-Tor's Wraiths discovering: >>44967350

Jadyk spoke personally with the Lavafather, revealing they are a prisoner just like Jadyk was but now permanently bound to the Volcano itself. They agreed to pledge loyalty to Jadyk and the Armada if given access to technology and material to produce their own spacecraft.

Kelp Vats are being made to provide aid relief to the Ructu during the incoming hurricane season.

Jadyks enslaved Osjiic and Dagger forces were becoming stir-crazy so they have been reformed into a small fleet to fight for the Armada. The Voidsinger was giving command of them along with a handful of sub-capitols.

Then a whole bunch of ships were planned to be made along with a main base in the system that will have ship construction pylons.

Red-Leaf-Strains holds the dreamstone in her grasp, the warmth from the sphere helping her stave off the cold somewhat. As the early night begins to fall she almost doesn't notice your ghostly form standing in the distance. She starts in surprise but realizes no one else could see you.

A skeletal hand lifts and points to a narrow pass in the distance. A Gargoyle perches there, it's large eye reflecting the light as it stares at the plainsrunner. Red-Leaf-Strains had begun to associate the strange creatures constantly shadowing them with you and this only confirmed her suspicions.

Calling out to her herd she guides them away from the valley river they had been following. The path is steep and treacherous in the dark but after several hours of following the faintly glowing eye of the Gargoyle the herd finds themselves at the mouth of a large cave system. Bushes grew thick around the mouth heavy with late season berries. The herd moves into the cavern and begin to hunker down for the night as several of their number strip the shrubs of the berries.

Red-Leaf-Strains rests in the cavern near her sisters, watching the Gargoyle looking at them from the cavern mouth before stretching its four wings and launching into the air as the first snows began to fall.

Seated in your battlecruiser in the Rukor system the screens flicker to life over the banks of terminals manned by cyclopean pilots. Nekris and the Voidsinger appear before you and the feed from the Eyegore flash up on their screens as well. The data for the White Dwarf system sprawl across their screens and you wait for them to familiarize themselves briefly before speaking.

"I am sending the pair of you and a selection of your forces to this system. You are to investigate the derelict Confederate facility while also constructing a base in system. That system is rich in resources that our Armada desperately need to grow. Go forth and and claim this system," you say and they bow but you stop them before they disconnect, "Be aware though. The other reason I am interested in this system is the Armatocere encountered a Suneater Wraith in this system. Do not assume it will act friendly if you encounter it. Make me proud."

The screen flickers off and soon Necrolyte ships are lifting off and charging their engines at the same time as ships over Rukor prepare to depart.

It was a representative Think Tank from the Dangerous Research Facility that contacted you next. As they had been focused on working with the crystal tech and studying various subjects they were still having to dedicate time and effort to maintaining the forces of the rapidly growing Armada. You say you will order the creation of more of them to ease the burden but it interjects much to your surprise.

<Instead of producing quantity, produce quality> it says to you before sharing the rough ideas and plans for a new form of Think Tank. A massive superprocessor capable of controlling the forces within a system with the Think Tanks working as avatars of the new intelligence.

You ponder the suggestion for quite some time before agreeing with it. The Think Tanks say they will begin construction of the first installation but Jadyks assistance will be required in order to finalize the creation.

First though, he must choose where the first of these new Super Think Tanks will be made.

As the foundations for the new creation were laid the Think Tank in contact with the Lavafather sends a message.

After pouring over notes of your shipbuilding technology and physically examining the crashed Ahkam craft the Obsidianborn believe they can start construction of a prototype shipyard to craft their first ever ships. The Lavafather already has a surplus of metal ore his forces have been mining and hoarding in preparation.

They also have another request they wish to be heard out. The Stonestars had been quite impressed with the ferocity of the Reconstructed soldiers and their aircraft. The fact the Armada had slain an Ahkam in defense of their world and patron further cemented their adoration for the Armada.

The Lavafather requests that you allow contingents of Stonestar warriors to join the Armada to learn about warfare among the stars. These warriors would then return after their service to teach their kin what they have learned. The Obsidianborn have selected the best warriors and brightest minds among the Stonestars and they stand ready to move to the Fortress for their assignments.

Do you accept these requests?

You gladly accept these requests. Coffins begin moving across the moon toting vats of biomass along with a lone Cauldron to begin work on the facility as hulking stone constructs with a burning core of magma level out a large field to begin their work.

Shortly after a large swarm of Stonestars escorted by an Obsidianborn scale the sides of the plateau cliffs to reach the Fortress. Great walls of black metal slick with rain creak open to allow the wide-eyed creatures entrance. Curious Reconstructed soldiers are distracted from their tasks and move to investigate the new visitors.

The Stonestars and Reconstructed mingle for a short inspecting each other curiously. A group of Talons and Stonestars showing off their respective sting whips by knocking down propped up rocks or scrap.

Finally Agona arrives with the Obsidianborn liaison and directs them to the barracks they would be staying at for the time being. Once a hangar for Nails the large room was now turned into a barracks for the stonestar visitors until they were shipped off world to their new assignments.

Until the Think Tanks can develop armor and equipment suitable for the Stonestars to allow them to survive in foreign environments you contemplate just what to do with them.

You decide that the researchers shall be split up among your ships and the Think Tank researchers back on Horizon's Drops moon tending to the shipyards.

The majority of the warriors you will give command to the Voidsinger while spreading the remainer out among your fleets to observe combat between spacecraft. In their off time you plan for Think Tanks to give them lessons so they can study modern warfare.

In the Rukor system your new base finalizes it's construction. Bone white pylons surround the open-mouthed pit who's sides are covered in a network of bone hallways that lead to pressurized portions of the mining tunnels. The Anti-Air Network spread around the base defensively sweep the asteroid belt surrounding the protoplanet, vaporizing stray asteroid if they came too close. Construction pylons already hard at work at assembling the skeletons of new sub-capitols as Coffins ferry vats of rich biomass to the pylons Cauldrons.

This base would serve as the seat of your power in the system leaving Nekris and Agona's fortresses and bunkers to stand guard over their worlds.

Deep in Horizon's Drop your vast Narcotikelp fields are finally complete, floors of long aquariums growing the potent plant for future use. Already Talons are harvesting the first batches, stringing the strands up in pressurized rooms to dry out and cure the wet seagrass.

You suspect your living minions would find the new crop quite to their satisfaction of the reports from Jor indicating a spike in narcotics and alcohol use among the colonists and minions were any indicator.

The Eyegore in the White Dwarf system sends an alert and patching you in as Nekris and the Necrolyte Legion ships appear in the system with bright flashes of light from their Void Drives. They drift through the system, scanning the planets and talking among themselves.

Who shall investigate the facility?

Who shall search the planets for a suitable base location?

The plainsrunners would likely enjoy the standard kelp since it is based on the kelp that grows abundantly on the shores of Horizon's Drop. There are coastal dwelling Plainsrunner you've observed harvesting the kelp from the shores for food, clothing, rope, and other uses.

Speaking of Kelp:

Coffins bearing large kelp vats strapped to their undersides appear in the skies over Ructu villages across Rukor. Your enslaved Ructu do their best to calm their home village but your voice speaks out through the Coffins in the Ructus native language of chirps and mandible scraping.

"People of Rukor, Lord Jadyk brings you these gifts to help you in your time of need. The defeat of the Ahkam oppressors was only the beginning of our aid to you should you accept it."

The vats are lowered with a single unarmed Stinger each. The elders of each village approach cautiously and the Stingers do their best to seem unthreatening as they ignore their questions and instead instruct them on the care and harvesting of the vats. The Stingers deliver stern warnings not to let the kelp grow wild in the oceans for it may grow out of control to suffocate the seas. Truly the kelp sported no seeds for this reason but fresh shoots from the kelp could accidentally be transplanted into the wild. Heavy lids cover the tops of the vats to protect against the upcoming storms, requiring several Ructu to open them to allow sunlight and harvesting.

At first the ructu are wary of the strange gifts but at the urging of your minions the village starts to sample the kelp and quickly finds it to their liking. The same acceptance is much slower to spread among the other villages at first.

As ships spread out through the system Nekris joins the Voidsinger on his light cruiser as they float over the planet covered in ice. What atmosphere it had was thin and poisonous, faint volcanic activity marking the landscape but the Necrolyte forces focus on the mountain ranges gripped by cold glaciers.

Images show the ruins of a facility built into the side of the mountain while scans indicate there was still underground tunnels seemingly intact connected to the outside.

A corvette descends with the light cruiser and the two generals stand together on the bridge. Nekris was there to observe and provide aid if needed but his forces remained floating above in their corvette. This was to be the Voidsinger and Necrolytes operation.

As the ships descend an alarm blares in the ships as portions of the mountain swivel to reveal hidden ports somehow still functioning after all this time. Missiles tear from holes in the side of mountain, several not even leaving their ports before detonating with still potent explosions. Repeater cannons on the ships whirl to life filling the air between them with metal and bone shrapnel detonating the incoming missiles with ease.

The ships return fire and reduce the missile ports to smoking craters in the sides of the mountains. It appeared the facility wasn't as dead as previously thought though the way several of the ports had detonated prematurely suggested that it wasn't without disrepair.

There was a slightly slanting landing covered in snow and ice as Coffins containing the first group of Necrolyte soldiers land. Osjiic and Netu troops with simple jump-packs leap from the Coffins, spreading out to secure the perimeter as the others emerge weapons in hand.

A large bulkhead door rests at the end of the landing not completely sealed, the black interior looming ominously. Nekris' skin pulses with white stripes, his new skin rippling with pale color as he strides alongside the Voidsinger. His Alpha Stalker keeping pace as a human reads off the results of local scans using a handheld device.

The door was frozen in place but the gap would allow soldiers to squeeze in one by one. First the Alpha Stalker slips inside, its skin rippling with the same mimetic flesh as its master to turn a dark gray mirroring the floor. There was a chirp and soon the Necrolytes were squeezing themselves inside.

The main hall was long with an array of sharp icicles growing from the ceiling. Every so often a weak light pulses from dying emergency lighting but the armors of your Necrolytes used a mix of thermal and low-light imagining allowing them to see clearly in the darkness of the facility.

Nekris bows his head to the Voidsinger and motions for him to lead the way. The Osjiic barks a few short commands through the helmets and the Necrolytes quickly form up. Osjiic with exoskeletal armor lead the way with heavy shields and bone rifles held at the ready. Netu soldiers followed close behind in exosuits of their own with bone repeaters and the occasional flayer. Humans and Vorh carry a wide range of weaponry and scanning devices with the Kesh covering from the rear with spine casters.

They swept through the main hallways, Osjiic moving from door to door glancing in to clear it of hostiles before moving on as other soldiers swept in briefly for a quick examination. They discover rooms covered in a twinkling layer of frost and ice. Beds in the barracks unmade with clothing still in drawers. There were even tableware with long frozen food still resting on long tables in the galley.

Several of the tables were flipped over, bullet holes punched through them and the walls. The remains of human and vorh were scattered about, bodies brittle to the touch in the extreme cold.

Sweeping through the rest of the barracks they pass through several long hallways towards the Main Control room and the elevator access. Though the hallways the emergency bulkheads had been deployed but were now destroyed and torn open. Nekris stoops to inspect one of the torn bulkheads and realized these had been ripped apart by hand and not explosives. Standing he saw the Voidsinger standing nearby and nod knowingly with void-repeater in hand.

The Main Control room was a mess of broken and frozen electronics but as Necrolyte techs moved to several of the undamaged consoles they are able to boot a few to life. Soldiers spread through the room to stand watch at hallways, the back wall a gaping hole were the elevator shafts yawned missing their doors and lifts.

The Voidsinger orders a group of the Osjiic and Netu to stay with the techs as they tried to access the systems, the rest of them to proceed to the lower levels. Those staying behind were to establish a defensive field camp and bring in reinforcements and supplies from the ships as a precaution.

The nameless Osjiic looks to Nekris and nods, the fins on the back of his armor flaring open as they both step to the dark holes with their soldiers securing rappel lines of sinew for those without jump-packs.

Nekris and the Voidsinger fall into the elevator shaft with soldiers trailing after them. Their rapid descents suddenly halting with ripples of energy as they reach the blasted open doors leading to the second floor. There the signs of battle were much more apparent, scorch marks on the walls along with a spray of bullet holes. Several corpses dotted the main hall the floor branching off to the armory and the test ranges.

An Osjiic was walking along the main hallway toward a door leading to the armor when he freezes, the Netu following him stopping sharply. There was a soft scraping sound of something moving through the frost then a heavy footstep then another.

The Osjiic stood with shield raised and bone rifle at the ready, Netu standing behind with its bone repeater leveled and ready to fire around the shiled. The Voidsinger and Nekris watch from a distance, weapons in hand but waiting to see how the soldiers handled this.

Sonar pulses detect the presence of several entities starting to move in nearby halls making their way towards the soldiers with increasing speed. Finally the first shambles into the light of the Osjiics flashlight. A metallic shelled Vorh stares with wide glass eyes at the soldiers for a silent moment before it's face splits open vertically filling the air with a ear rending shriek.

Bullets answered its shout as it lifted its only arm of mangled and twisted machinery, the end of it sparking before a spray of blue flames sprayed out across the Osjiics shield. Bone slugs rip into the creature tearing its head from it's shoulder and sending it spinning to lay twitching on the ground in its death throes.

It's metallic screech is echoed through the halls as several others emerge from the nearby doorways. Skeletons of humans, vorh and even several unidentified races shamble from the darkness, glass eyes reflective in the light. Necrolytes fire at the creatures with bullet and flenser fire, a necrotic flayer melting the legs of a human to the ground with a cloud of steam.

The attackers were in bad disrepair, mangled limbs shakily supporting them with handguns and rifles welded crudely to their limbs. A Netu swings blasts the face of a charging reptilian with a necroflenser on its forearm only to be tackled by the cyborg, its shattered jaws snapping at the neck of the former pirate. An Osjiic comes to its rescue, spearing the attacker through the neck with it's rifles bayonet, the thermal vibroblade quickly separating metal skull from spine.

A human screams out in pain as a bullet rips through their gut, the Voidsinger quickly dragging him back and handing him to a kesh who quickly starts to tend to the wound.

"Missile launcher!" a voice shouts out as a cyborg shambles out of a side room, it's arm completely replaced with a missile launcher welded to its shoulder. Osjiic duck behind their shields as a weak flickering laser sight from the launcher darts across them as it aims, body rocking with weapons fire. There was a small flash of electric blue light then an explosion that engulfs the cyborg and several others standing around it.

Nekris lowers his rifle that crackles faintly with electric arcs and nods to the Voidsinger, his mimetic skin dark and hard to distinguish even with their advanced visors.

There seemed to be no more of the cyborgs on this level and a quick sweep through the floor confirms the floor clear. As medics tended to the few wounded squads moved through the floor investigating. The armory was where the majority of the cyborgs had come from and where they had seemingly had their weapons installed.

A strange skittering device the size of crit crawl moves awkwardly on an array of long weak limbs trying to escape. An Osjiic picks it up and it lashes out with several sharp legs that score the heavy armor it wore but did no true harm. A blue torch flares as if trying to intimidate it but Nekris steps in and with a flash of electric energy the device falls inert.

Nekris examines the strange construct, a metal sheathed human skull at it's center, before passing it to a tech who seals it in a crate of metal for future study.

The rest of the floor was weapons ranges, spent shells and scorched targets plentiful along with a handful of scorched skeletons.

Guards are stationed at the elevator shaft as Nekris stoops to examine the cyborgs they gathered together. They were superficially similar to those he encountered in the Rukor system but these were crude and...sloppy, as if done by a childs hand.

So far they had avoided receiving any casualties and only minor injuries that would heal in time. Nekris and the Voidsinger step to the elevator shaft and continue their descent to the lower levels.

As they descended they could feel the ambient temperatures rise as if the facility was slowing powering on. The next floor they were greeted by a handful of cyborgs waiting for them ,weapons aimed for the elevator shaft.

Osjiic with heavy shields land first, the Voidsinger right behind them firing screaming blasts of void energy from his repeater at the cyborgs as Necrolytes move into position. They hold the line behind shields or ducking behind cover to mow down the cyborgs as they emerged from the hallways.

Most were much like those above but there was one that stalked behind the others, Nekris spotting its baleful glowing red eyes as it observed them.

Abruptly the cyborgs turned to flee into the hallways but the Alpha Stalker leaps forth with netu and osjiic chasing after with bayonets and thermal vibro-axes. An overzealous Netu is riddled with bullets that rip through its armor and drop them to the ground as they tried to enter a room ahead of an Osjiic.

The Voidsinger snarls and barks a command, the soldiers falling back carrying the fallen soldier. The void-repeater flares with energy as they fire several blasts at the wall quickly reducing it to rubble to expose the hidden cyborgs. A rain of bullet and blaster fire mow down those remaining.

Sweeping through the floor they find it used to be a fabrication wing used to assemble the physical prototypes the facility created. They had seemed to be a weapons and robotics development site but now strange cyborgs roamed the halls.

Tables held the bodies of half-transformed corpses, larger versions of the small skulled construct below twitching above as they tried to complete their task in turning the dead into more of the rickety cyborg soldiers.

Near the back of the storage area that had been ransacked seemingly for raw material was a hole torn through the floor, a sloped ramp of rubble leading down below. Sonar pulses could detect movement down below, hearing footsteps shuffling about and the scraping of metal on metal.

Directly below were the research labs and below that were the restricted levels. Necrolyte soldiers hold their positions, weapons trained at the hole leading down and the elevator shaft in case any of the cyborgs launched a counter attack. The Voidsinger turns to speak with Nekris, discussing how to proceed.

Instead of dropping down immediately into the next level Nekris takes a bandoleer of grenades from a trooper and moves to the elevator shaft. Walking down the wall as he ignored gravity with a casual nonchalance he primes the grenades as he peeks over the rim of the opening. He ducks back in time as bullets rip through the air where his head had been a split second before.

He waits for a pause in the firing before he flings the badoleer into the room before flipping back up and pressing his back firmly against the wall. A moment later and there was a small shockwave of heat as the grenades exploded. The Voidsinger charges down the other ramp to the lower level with his Necrolytes as Nekris and the other Legionnaires charge into the smoldering room.

The floor was somewhat larger than the others but with clear lines of sight, most walls transparent industrial plasteel. Cyborgs lift themselves up slowly from tables but they are quickly cut down by bullet or blade.

Nekris looked over the destroyed cyborgs and realizes he does not spot the strange unit it had seen above but as Nekris contemplated this an electric whine filled the air before there was flash of light and an Osjiic screams. The soldier drops their shield with the hand still clutching its straps as they clutch at the stump just above their elbow spurting dark blood tothe frost covered ground.

There was another charging whine and Nekris spots a dark shape with baleful eye aiming a spinning device of purple light at him. Dodging out of the way there was another flash and pop as the plasteel barriers and walls were melted and vaporized.

The weapon charges and blasts but not in Nekris' direction, the general confused until he heard gunfire and the scream of a void-repeater blasting away in answer. The agile cyborg darts along the barriers, using the clear walls to confuse and disorient the Necrolytes as its weapon blasts easily through them.

An unlucky Vorh has their upper torso instantly vaporized as they tried to run from cover to cover, the smoking stump of it's waist and legs taking a wobbling step before falling over. Nekris leaps up and fires off several rounds of his spine caster, the plasteel walls deflecting the blows or slowing them long enough for the swift cyborg to avoid.

Void repeater blasts rip through the clear walls and lab equipment, the osjiic less concerned about salvagable research and more about destroying the cyborg killing his troops. Finally a lucky blast of the void-repeater connects and the Voidsinger trails the beam on the cyborg as it tried to flee, the small micro singularities formed by the blast of energy warping and cracking it's metal form.

A brave Osjiic soldier charges forth, it's shield taking a blast that removed nearly a third of it and dropped before the large soldier was on top the slowed cyborg. Their rifle swings and the the thermal vibrobayonet cuts into the chest of the cyborg before the warrior pushes the cyborg back to pin it against the wall while firing their rifle point blank into its chest until the red eyes dimmed and it slumped, weapon replacing its forearm going silent.

Soldiers sweep through the lab, putting down cyborgs as they struggled to stand or put up a resistance. The Voidsinger and Nekris approach the soldier who'd finished off the agile cyborg and the Osjiic turns to salute with hand thumping to their chest, "Fast but it dies just as fast as anything else," her voice gruff.

The Voidsinger nods to her, "Well done, very brave," before hefting his void-repeater to join hunt searching for the last of the cyborgs.

The rest of the floor is swept clean of the remaining cyborgs and the forces meet up at the freshly sealed bulkhead blocking off the way further down. The main elevator only went as far as this floor, the restricted levels only accessed by this new elevator. The lack of frost on the bulkhead and the shattered ice around the edges suggesting the door had been recently sealed.

Necrotic Flayers begin the work of melting away portions of the metal wall with blasts of dirty green light, not wanting to risk explosives just yet. Nekris pets the large head of his Alpha Stalker as they stand and watch with the Voidsinger by his side. A piece of the bulkhead sloughs off and falls as a soft chunk of metal.
