"Damashi just found out he's not working tomorrow" edition

Hello and welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest!

When we last left our hero, he reached the island of Pyrkarris, home to a large active volcano. Housed within was the shard of the Broken Goddess known as Fire, and after a run-in with an impersonator of Princess Kitana, Kaito fought his way to the heart of the volcano and came to blows with the guardian known as Cinder. Upon victory, he received new fiery abilities, adding to his array of commanding Water and Earth. Now, all that remains is Wind.

Our story continues now!
>>
Kaito has returned to the Dragon Wing with Cinder. Along the way from the volcano, the fiery orange ninja explained more about the priests of the Dragon King. Long ago, Onaga sought immortality. His priests performed a ritual that would seal his soul into a large dragon's egg, granting him eternal life. Shao Kahn, Onaga's trusted advisor, then poisoned the Dragon King and killed him. The priests of Onaga sought a guardian for the egg, which now housed his spirit, but could not yet hatch. They needed a warrior of fire, and so Cinder was sought out, as was another warrior---Blaze.

Blaze, being a true fire elemental, was determined to be the stronger and left to guard the egg, while Cinder was bound to become the guardian of the gemstone that had bound his mother Fire. Now, with both of them freed of the magic, Cinder is free to pursue his own life, and for a time, he has agreed to follow along with Kaito on his journey.

Kaito, upon reaching the Dragon Wing, seeks out Mileena and tells her all that has transpired, even demonstrating his newfound fiery powers for her. Cinder explains that Kaito can manifest flames due to his fighting spirit, his inner flame; the more self-assured and motivated he is, the more powerful his fire can become. So long as he remains confident and strong, he will be able to summon fireballs or spew fire from his hands like a flamethrower.

With concentration, much like he can with water, Kaito can also now manipulate the direction of flames, either those around him or those he conjures himself.

"Where to now?" Mileena asks.

"The book told me that Wind is trapped somewhere far north, in a great storm in the center of the edenian seas."
>>
>>44992186

Mileena takes him to one of Kojiro's charts. She points at a large ocean, where a large dark drawing of a whirlpool with accompanying stormclouds are drawn. "This storm rages eternally at the heart of edenia's western ocean," Mileena explains. "It has not stopped since Edenia's return. It is home to a number of portal storms as well; we have used them in the past on the Red Wake to travel to Outworld."

"She's in the center of it," Kaito replies. "Perhaps, even the cause of it. We'll need to take great care before we head there."

Just then, there is a commotion in the village. A young boy runs through the jungle and is shouting, jumping up and down. The crew of the Dragon Wing catch word of an attack on Gubati Village, a fishing village on the southern shore of the island. He shouts one word over and over: pirates.

The moment the crew hear that word, they know what to do. They drop everything they are doing on land and rush to the Dragon Wing to prepare it for sail. Mileena heads out onto the deck with Kaito behind her and stands behind the wheel, immediately assuming her position and shouting out orders to the crew.

Kaito looks at Cinder, who gives him a questioning look. "They hunt pirates," he explains to him.

"We can catch them if we hurry," Mileena says.

As the crew assume battle positions, Kaito summons the Staff of Raiden and places it on the hull of the ship. He concentrates on taking the vessel not far south, just a few miles or so. It is always difficult judging travel to a place he has never been to before or seen with his own eyes, but he focuses intently regardless and soon the ship is encased in fog.

The evening sun is blocked by the island's massive volcano, casting the region in shadows, but as the Dragon Wing emerges from the haze of teleportation, the crew looks on at a burning village. Mileena stands next to Kaito as they head towards the railing and look out over the water.

"It's completely destroyed," she says.

"Is that unnusual?" Kaito asks.

"They never completley destroy," she says, looking back at him. "They pillage, of course---but this leaves nothing for them to come back to for later pillaging."

The flames burn higher and Kaito looks back at Cinder. "Hey, don't look at me," he says. "I was with you guys."

"No sign of any ship, captain!" Okaru calls down from the crow's nest.

"All hands, keep your eyes open! Scan the horizon!" she calls out, striding across deck. Mileena reaches the bow to get a better look at the burning village. Overhead, Gwyn soars and takes off towards it to get a better view herself, but stays clear of the rising smoke.

Kaito and Cinder both hop into one of the Dragon Wing's longboats and are lowered down to the water, where they row towards the village. Once hitting the shore, they both run up to a burning building. The fire rages out of control.

Cinder looks over at Kaito and shouts, "Be careful! Too much can overwhelm you!"

He puts hits hands up and begins syphoning the flames towards him, absorbing them into the palm of his hand. Kaito looks up another raging fire and begins to attempt the same.

Kaito opens his hands wide and manipulates the fire towards them. He grits his teeth and tries to take control of the growing fireball that forms in front of him as tendrils of flame surge out from the house and into his grasp.

He pushes himself, but in the end he attempts to gather too much at once and it creates a small explosion that sends him hurtling backwards. Cinder is there to contain the remainder as Kaito props himself up on his elbows and watches the fiery warrior take control of both streams of power at once.

"Don't worry---I got this!" he says. He's had control of his fiery abilitirs for much longer. "Give it another go when you're ready!"

>>44993206

Kaito, having realized his initial limits, now approaches the problem from a different direction. He pushes his hands out again, taking in a more moderate amount of fire towards his palms. Absorbing it spreads a wartm through him and makes him feel stronger, like he is feeding his internal spark with these flames. But he isn't quite going fast enough.

Kaito switches from one hand to another, continually absorbing the fire from the village as he holds another one out to sea. Remembering his training during his time with Water, he pushes himself to use both powers at once.

With his other hand and his mind steady, Kaito raises a wave. He calls out as he brings both hands together, slamming the water and fire in the air against each other and creating a rapidly-expanding cloud of steam.

Cinder helps him finish up the rest. Soon, the entire village is out, and nothing but charred buildings remain. The Dragon Wing, just offshore, watches as they explore the ruins, finding almost no one---save for burnt corpses.

Kaito puts his hand to his nose to save himself from the stench, but he's been around dead bodies before. He kicks open the half-burnt door to a building before finding a house that is somewhat intact. Inside is a family huddled in fear.

Kaito approaches them. "What happened?" he asks. "Who did this?"

"They came from the sea," the man says. "Their ship fired at the village... Nothing was taken... Nothing! No demands were made!"

Kaito helps them outside as Cinder finds some more. He approaches the fiery warrior and says, "So, a ship appeared and attacked them... stole nothing. Just attacked."

"That's what my group said too," Cinder replies. "Just before the last rays of sunlight vanished over the volcano. Cannons shooting fireballs into the village."

Kaito folds his arms. "They're not much of pirates, then, are they?" he says. "Just murderers. But why..."

Kaito grabs one of the men, an older fisherman. "They attacked for no reason?"

"They fired on us as soon as the sun went down," the man replies. "Then they appeared and blasted our village."

"None came ashore? How many were there?"

"Just one ship... We couldn't see them. They fired again and again and again... So much screaming... Everyone running everywhere..."

"Did you make anyone angry lately?"

The man shakes his head. "No! We've always been a peaceful village---nobody ever harmed us!"

Kaito lets the man go before suddenly he and Cinder hear a bell ringing coming from the ocean. They both turn their eyes back and see that it is coming from the Dragon Wing; the lookout, Okaru, is ringing a bell.

"Ship! Off the stern! Approaching fast!"

Kaito runs back to the shore and looks on in the direction of the setting sun. A ship is sailing fast towards the rear of the Dragon Wing, cutting through the water as though magically propelled. On deck, Mileena orders everyone to battle stations.

"They must've hid themselves and waited for a good moment to sneak up," Cinder observes. "They're coming up right behind the ship!"

Kaito looks up at the sails and sees a large skull and crossbones on them. There's no question about it: this must be the ship that attacked. But why?

There's little time to get that answer now; it'll be upon the Dragon Wing in just a few minutes!

Kaito wastes no time and dives into the water. Using his water breathing, he propells himself forwards, pushing himself through the water without surfacing.

He sees another figure swimming alongside him; Arika, the mermaid of his crew. She looks at him before taking his hand and swimming towards the ship, pulling him along faster.

Just as the pirate ship rushes to meet with the dragon wing, Kaito reaches the bottom of the ship. He can hear muted gunfire and cannon fire from above.

Kaito nears the water and prepares to launch himself out. He curls up into a ball and focuses intently before propelling himself upwards, using his water manipulation to shoot him out of the water. He soars high up to the railing of the enemy ship with a mighty splash accompanying him, landing on the deck, fists up and ready.

"Alright, you pirate bastards! Let's---"

He suddenly stops talking as the crew of the enemy ship turns around.

All of them are large humanoids with dull green skin, thick yellow tusks jutting out of their bottom row of teeth past their lips and pirate-like outfits.

Orc pirates.

Kaito, having taken this moment in shock to look at the strange foes arrayed before him, loses the element of surprise. One of them raises a cutlass high into the air.

"GET 'IM BOYS!" he shouts.

The orc pirates charge in!

More of them reach for him then, but he uses his free hand to blast upwards with a fiery stream. That keeps them at bay. Kaito sees a rope nearby and grabs onto it, burning the bottom of it and freeing it. He kicks off from the side of the ship and swings around, bringing up his legs to kick another orc down.

Now he's on the upper deck of the enemy ship, not far from the wheel. More gunshots and cannonfire can be heard as the crew of the Dragon Wing battle the orc pirates; some of the Dragon Wing is on fire from their cannons, which appear to shoot fireballs instead of cannonballs. A board of planks between the ships is erected, allowing for boarding action. Orcs use ropes to swing from their ship onto the Dragon Wing.

Three orcs turn and approach him with weapons drawn, one of them from the lower deck. "Oy! You'z a slipp'ry one, ain't'cha?" he says. "I'z gonna stick ya good!"

"You must have a lovely singing voice," Kaito says as they close in.

Kaito smiles to himself and leaps backwards, taking hold of a rope and swinging around, kicking all of them in the back of their very surprised heads and knocking all three of them over the railing, tumbling over each other on their way down.

>>44995226

He looks and sees a gunner aiming a pistol at the Dragon Wing. He runs up behind him and punches him in the back of the head before grabbing him and slamming his skull against the railing. He looks up at the rigging and begins throwing fireballs left and right, aiming to set them on fire as well. Suddenly, Sashar the Swift swings over to the deck to land next to Kaito. With his rapier, he stabs out and sticks the orc right in the gut, dropping him where he stood.

"It's fortunate that they fight as badly as they smell!" he laughs before moving to duel others.

Once there, Kaito kicks the orc off of him, but not before he leaves Kaito with a nasty scrape from his hook going down his leg. As Kaito makes his way back up the stairs, the same hook hand grabs him and drags him back down. "You ain't goin' nowhere!" he cackles as he prepares to impale Kaito with his sword.

Kaito turns around and blasts the man away with a fireball to the face. He makes it back up the stairs and looks around for another set of doors in search of the captain's cabin. He charges towards Kaito, intent on using the anchor on him to deadly effect!

Like a man standing in front of a charging bull, waiting for the moment to strike, Kaito watches as the captain charges. He waits for just the right moment...

The captain lifts up the anchor and swings it downwards, right towards Kaito---or rather, where he was. Kaito dodges inwards and helps direct the swing into the deck, smashing it utterly. He then twists up to deliver a heel kick on top of the captain's head to push him forward.

Kaito then brings both hands in close and positions them like claws before striking them outwards at the orc's chest, double-palm striking his ribs! Two loud snaps can be heard as the rips crack inwards, puncturing the orc's lungs.

The deck below them collapses and they both fall to the next level below.

Kaito looks back up as the upper deck of the ship becomes a blazing inferno; Cinder has joined the battle. The Dragon Wing unleashes another cannon barrage and blasts a few holes in the orc ship, one of them near Kaito's head.

The captain lies next to him, slowly dying of internal injuries. Kaito stands up and looks around; they appear to be in the brig.

There's an orc in a cage here. He wears the garb of a monk, and is blind, with dark fabric wrapped around his head to obscure his eyes.

Despite the massive battle going on around him, and the latest cannonball volley launched that showered him with splinters, he sits still, meditating.

Kaito looks at the cell door and sees that it is locked. With a concentrated fire stream, he melts the lock and throws the door open, reaching in and grabbing the orc. "Excuse me, but I believe the ship is sinking!"

He doesn't say anything as Kaito pulls him up to his feet and takes him out of the cell, pausing only briefly to pick up the captain's hat.

Once up on deck, Kaito leaps over a dead orc to jump back to the Dragon Wing, pulling the freed captive with him. The Dragon Wing begins to pull away from the burning orc vessel as a series of explosions begin to destroy the ship completely.

Once on deck, Mileena walks over, wiping a bloody sai on her pantleg as she helps him up to his feet. Kaito looks back at the blind orc.

"He's a prisoner?" Mileena asks.

"He was, in their brig," Kaito replies. "Enemy of my enemy, perhaps?"

"Perhaps," Mileena says. "Either way, we have survivors from their crew to deal with, along with wounded. The ship's been damaged---we're working on putting out the fires."

Kaito looks down at the large hat in his hands. He tries putting it on, but it's much too large for his head, to his dismay.

Knowing that other specialists on his crew can help with the other issues, Kaito goes to work on healing the wounded. Some of his crew were badly hurt; Sierra took a sword to her leg and Buturo was left with a deep gash across his chest. Kaito orders some of the deck hands to go fetch pales of water so that he can heal them.

While he does so, Mileena rounds up the prisoners and begins asking them questions. The orcs are reluctant to speak, but eventually one of them cracks, revealing that they are from another realm and were hired to come here and attack the village.

"Hired by who?" Mileena asks, holding a sai up to his throat. "And why?"

"To fight!" the orc spits out at her. "We was told there'd be a good fight in it!"

"Buncha lousy pirate hunters!" another one speaks up. "Captain took a lower cost when it was made mentioned!"

Mileena straightens. "You attacked that village just to lure us out and fight us?" she asks.

They nod.

"Who hired you?" she demands to know.

"Called 'imself Farragut!"

"And where is he now?" she says, holding her sai up to his chin.

"Said he'd meet us once the job was done!" he says.

Mileena looks at her crew and makes a slicing motion across her neck and the crew goes to work putting the orcs down. Kaito focuses on healing Sierra and getting her walking again.

"Thanks," she says to him with a smile, putting some weight on her leg. "At least I don't need it chopped off."

As Kaito finishes up his work, he assesses the damage to his ship. This fight was particularly taxing on the vessel---but perhaps that was the point of it all. Their ship is weakened and the crew weary. Kaito can't help but feel like the senseless destruction to lure them out wasn't all just part of something else---perhaps the orcs were just a distraction.

As they dump the bodies over the edge, Mileena puts her sai away and looks at Kaito. "This is all rotten," she says. "Farragut's tactics are getting dirtier and dirtier if he's willing to hire crews from other realms to senselessly murder entire villages just to lure us out."

"I think it means we have his attention," Kaito replies. "But now what do we do with it?"

"The Dragon Wing is hurt," Mileena says. "I don't know if we can handle another fight in this state, or a trip to the storm where the last shard is kept."

Kaito scratches his chin and thinks.

At that moment, Biggs and Wedge run up, wearing cobbled together armor and red headbands.

"Good news! The animals are okay!" Wedge reports.

Kaito can't help but feel that their new outfits are an attempt by them to fit in more with the new crew.

Kaito looks over at Mileena. "If there's a trap, I say we spring it."

She seems a bit surprised. "What? Do you really think our crew is in any kind of condition to deal with it?"

"We've got his attention, let's see what he plans to do with it," Kaito replies.

Mileena moves forward and places a hand on his chest. "Kaito... We can't lose the Dragon Wing. It would take a sorcerer to create another netherhsip."

"Then we go all out," Kaito says. "We hold nothing back. We use absolutely everything at our disposal to sink their ships." He summons the Staff of Raiden. "I'm not going to lose the Dragon Wing."

"We'll need to rouse the men," Mileena says.

Kaito shakes his head for a moment. "You're probably right," he says. "Maybe we could survive the trap, but maybe the Dragon Wing wouldn't."

Just then, a voice reaches their ears, a new one. Up until now, they hadn't paid attention to the blind orc and let him sit on the deck. But during the course of their conversation, he stood up and walked over to them.

"The trap is not meant to destroy you," the orc says. They both look at him in surprise, turning to face him fully. "This man, Captain Farragut, he led the orcs into Edenia. Then he influenced them into attacking the village."

"How?" Kaito asks. "Did he actually meet with them?"

"No," he replies. "He lured them in with an emissary. They sailed for Edenia and once here, then he took over their minds."

The human and the hybrid share a look. "And what of you?" Mileena asks. "You did not suffer the same fate?"

"I was their captive before they came to Edenia."

"Now, when you say, 'influenced their minds', you mean he mind-controlled them into doing his bidding?"

"They took the offering of the emissary as initial payment. But then he convinced them that a good fight would be enough and they accepted it without question or hesitation. He spoke to them in their minds; he never appeared before any of them."

"And what is this 'trap' supposed to do, exactly?" Kaito asks.

"It is meant to get you out in open water," the orc replies. "I only heard details from the crew, and I doubt the crew knew everything. But you are meant to sail out into open water, and then Farragut will come to you."

Mileena and Jon of Haven share a look. "This could be a chance to destroy Farragut?" she says. "Perhaps we should take it after all..."

"But he said that Farragut does not want to destroy us?" Jon asks, looking to the orc for confirmation.

"I believe he wishes to talk."

"I don't like it," Kaito says. "If he wants to meet so soon after an attack, he clearly wants to negotiate from a position of strength."

"There is something else to consider," Mileena says. "We can use the Dragon Wing's enchantment to retreat at a moment's notice, and you can use the Staff of Raiden to compel the ship to move against the wind."

"True," Kaito says. "We could escape if things got too rough... It's your call, Mileena."

She looks at Jon, who raises a brow and nods. Mileena looks around at the crew. "We're going to see what this is all about," she says. "Maybe we'll even get a face-to-face with Farragut. Kaito, I want you on deck with the staff, ready to get us out if the situation looks bad."

Everyone immediately goes about their work and begins the preparations to sail the boat out into open water. As Kaito takes up his position at the bow, Mileena stands next to him. "I don't like this any more than you," she says. "The blind one says that all that was needed was for us to sail out into open water. No specific cove, no island... Just open water."

"Which implies that Farragut will be waiting for us regardless, right?" Kaito says. "I'll be ready to take us somewhere else. Maybe Outworld, maybe the royal palace. Someplace where we can put in for repairs."

Mileena is silent when Kaito mentions the royal palace, but doesn't object to the idea either.

Half an hour later, they're over open water, far from Pyrkarris. Everyone is tense, with their eyes peeled on the horizon.

Turns out, it doesn't take long.

"Ship! Starboard quarter!" Okaru calls out. Gwyn soars around to get another look at it. It sails from around an island south and behind them.

As she does, she notices a second vessel. "There's another! North, off port!"

As everyone takes another look, Kaito's eyes narrow as a third black speck appears on the horizon.

A third ship, heading right for them.

"Three ships," he whispers to himself.

Kaito stops the boat when he lifts up the staff and the crew get ready for battle positions. Mileena looks at him and asks if he's going to teleport the ship. He waits, wanting to see their next move.

"They're not closing in!" Okaru calls down. "They've stopped!"

"They've got us proper surrounded," Jon says. "If we couldn't teleport, we wouldn't have a way out."

"The Dragon Wing can't stand an attack by three ships at once," Mileena says. "Just two ships on either side of us is playing the odds."

As they wait and watch with baited breath, Kaito hears a strange noise coming from the sea. He approaches the deck and sees a whirlpool beginning to form.

At first, he prepares to move the Dragon Wing away, but it doesn't grow any larger than the size of a man. It continues to swirl and churn, but grows no more, and nothing emerges from it.

"What is that?" Chomba asks.

Arika sticks her head out of the water. "It's a vortex stretching down to the bottom of the ocean!" she calls up. "Anything that goes in will get sucked down!"

Kaito's brow furrows. "Looks like an invitation..."

Mileena looks over at him. "You can breathe under water, can't you?"

"I can now," he nods.

"Are you thinking of going?"

He looks at the ships on the horizon, still not approaching. "If I go in, I can't teleport us out of here."

"You could leave the staff with Mileena," Jon suggests.

"Perhaps they won't attack if we send someone down," Kojiro suggests.

Kaito hands Mileena the Staff of Raiden, before pulling her in close and taking her by surprise by pulling down her mask and planting a passionate kiss on her lips. He steps up onto the railing after pulling away and gives her a final look and a smile before diving off into the whirlpool.

He's instantly sent spiraling downwards, spinning out of control as water rushes past him. He struggles to remain calm and focus on breathing, but the twisting, turning nature of the vortex makes concentration difficult. His head spins, his heart pounds, his limbs flail.

Suddenly, it all stops and he is violently expelled onto the ocean floor. He's still underwater, but everything around him is bright. He looks up and sees luminous coral and underwater fungi that provide all manner of beautiful illuminations throughout the cavern he finds himself in.

He stands up, trying to adjust to the water pressure around him. By focusing, he is able to breathe and stay strong. He turns around and looks out at the open ocean behind him; nothing but miles of deep blue sea.

He continues on into the cave. It opens to a massive wide chamber, wherein he discovers a mysterious sight; a man in an ancient diving suit, complete with the large windowed helm, sitting upon a throne of rock and coral, holding a trident in one hand.

A voice reaches his ears, reverberating through the water.

Kaito gives him a curious look. "Hello. Do I know you? Have we met before?"

"It's been a long while, I admit---more for me than for you." He stands up from his throne and approaches Kaito, who still stands a bit apprehensively. "I also look very different from when we last met. Since you're here, and since it's been twenty years, I'm going to assume you were successful in the mission I gave you."

"I don't---" Kaito suddenly pauses. "Wait a minute... How did you know...?"

The man stops a few yards from Kaito. "My name is Farragut. Ryan Farragut."

"Ryan!?" Kaito says, recalling the one he met when his soul was kicked out of his body, and the one who was supposedly replaced by Aegis. "You're Farragut? But how? What? I don't---"

"If by that you mean the giant suit of armor who was a total dick and made me wake up twenty years too late, yeah, I met him."

"I figured he would try and pull something like this," Ryan says with a sigh.

"You didn't answer me," Kaito says. "Why are you here? Don't tell me they discharged you because of me!"

"No! No! It's not your fault. The entire mess was bad from the beginning. Look... Kaito, interdimensional politics are, uh, complicated."

Kaito blinks a few times. "That's the same thing you told me when we first met! Well, explain it then!"

"Aegis was gunning for my position from the start. He took advantage of the turmoil and got a few conspirators together and basically undermined my credibility, swooped in, got me fired and then personally trapped me here twenty years ago."

"But how does that all work, exactly? Don't you work for Chronosis?"

"Look, try and understand that Chronosis is so far above my office that all of this happened probably without him knowing about it."

"But how? Doesn't he keep track of his agents?"

"Every agent helps monitor a specific reality. This reality, all of it, was mine. I helped keep it running smoothly, helped Chronosis patch up any holes, uh, you know. All good, right? Well, it's a nice job. Aegis wanted it all for himself."

"Who were his conspirators?" Kaito asks.

"Other agents from realities involved in the merging. They blamed my reality, our reality, my office basically, for it."

"That's hardly fair," Kaito says. "It could have happened to anybody!"

"Yeah, well, regardless, this reality-merging-crisis gave Aegis a chance to get in touch with them and they all got together and, uh, removed me from my office."

"I don't understand all this stuff about pirates, though," Kaito tells him. "Why pirates? Why the diving suit? Why all of this---what does it have to do with anything?"

"Well, uh... it's compli---"

"Don't you even," Kaito interrupts him, pointing a finger. "Just fucking explain it, Ryan!"

"Okay!" Ryan says. "Look... Aegis put me somewhere he thought I wouldn't ever be a problem again. I can't leave this cave, and I'm at the bottom of a damn ocean in a realm where people haven't invented submarines---what can I do, right? Well, I'm not without some tricks of my own."

"You haven't gone mad with lust for revenge, have you?"

"A bit," he says, sitting back down on his throne. "But then again, uh, I've always been weird... I liked my old job because I don't like people. Interracting with them, I mean. But I mean, I like people, them existing, so I felt good about being a watcher, a monitor, you know? Felt like I made a difference. Anyway, I still have some of my old power---Aegis couldn't take it all away from me. But he also knew that you would be the person I would look for. So he took away my power to communicate with anyone who is good of heart."

"Meaning what, exactly?"

"That I could only project myself to people who were bad of heart. Scumbags, criminals. On top of that, because I'm here in the ocean, my range is limited to sailors... So, all that was left was pirates."

"Then what's with the getup?" Kaito asks. "The trident and the suit? Are you a person, or are you the suit?"

"I'm human, or I was a long time ago," Ryan says. "Now I'm just... different. And the suit, well... I just like it. That's all."

Kaito allows him to continue. "Anyway, uh, so there I was, twenty years ago, with no idea when you would wake up and trapped here, only able to whisper in the minds of pirates. I can also make these neat little vortexes but everyone I tried bringing here drowned. What was I to do? I knew that one day you'd show up, but only if there was a problem that a hero could fix."

"...You're telling me that you created a network of piracy just to lure me here?"

"Well, it worked, didn't it? I mean, it lured your girlfriend here first, and then you followed. I'd say it was all well and good because here we are. And you can breathe underwater! I bet right on that one."

"Innocent people died!"

"Yeah... but not that many," Ryan says with a shrug. "I mean... they were just villagers. Nobody important."

"Ryan! What the hell man, seriously, what the hell? Don't pull that shit again!"

"Alright, alright!" he says, sounding annoyed. "Look, I'm sorry, alright? I know you care about the little people, that's your thing, that's what makes you a good hero. But I don't. I can't. I've sat and watched this reality for longer than you can imagine. Not just Earthrealm, all of them. I watched all of Shao Kahn's conquests. I watched all the Mortal Kombat tournaments. I've seen more people live and die than you, so I'm sorry for having a bit more perspective and a bit more cynicism about life and death when it comes to seafaring villagers. I did what I did to get you to come here and now you're here."

"You couldn't just have them write a letter or something to the royal palace explaining it all?"

"I didn't want to attract any attention," he says. "This place is safe from Aegis' eyes---another one of my tricks. And Aegis doesn't know I'm Farragut. So if he's watching your boat, when you leave here, just tell them lies. Tell them you beat me up, stopped the pirates, yadda yadda yadda---I don't honestly care. Now that you're here, we can get to actual work."

Kaito folds his arms. "So, you're going to stop the piracy now?"

"Well, there'll always be pirates, but I'll stop organizing them. And I'll disband all the crews under my command."

"Tell them to turn themselves all in and give the gold to the people of the village that was destroyed."

"Done and done," Ryan says. "Now can we move on? I'd like to let you in on the plan I've been building for twenty years to get my job back and kick Aegis' ass out of my demiplane. That's MY demiplane, damnit! He's probably messing it all up..."

Kaito is silent for a moment before saying, "Alright, I'm listening. That's all I can promise. I don't want to mess up reality."

Ryan shifts in his chair a bit. "Well, that's the problem. We need to break reality a bit."

"I don't want to hear it!" Kaito says. "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired about breaking reality!"

"We can control HOW we break it!" Ryan says. "Aegis thinks that there's no way I can get out of here. He'd be right, but you and I know something very specific that we can use to escape. It's the thing that started all of this; from the very beginning, it's what allowed you to meet Chronosis and the entity to slip in."

"...The orb," Kaito says, finally understanding.

"We get the orb, we get our free ticket out of reality and back to my demiplane," he says. "And then we take my job back from Aegis!"

"I don't know..." Kaito says, scratching the back of his head. "I mean, I don't like the guy, but how do we know this won't allow another entity to slip in? I really, really, REALLY don't want that."

"What, and I do?" Ryan says with a sigh. "Hey... So who was it, anyway? The entity?"

"Oh, Scorpion."

Ryan bolts back in his chair and lets out a massive sigh. "Oh, of course, it just had to be..." he mumbles the rest of his sentence and Kaito doesn't here.

"What was that?" Kaito asks. "Something about a 'boon' or something? A baby?"

"No, no, nothing," Ryan waves his hand way. "Look, do you know where the orb is?"

"Somewhere in the Netherrealm. It's lost."

"Damnit! Well, we'll need to track it down."

"I can't just drop everything I'm doing and go look for it," Kaito says. "I've got things going on."

Ryan places a hand on his helmet. "Look... I'm not going to force you to do anything, and I'm not going to keep up the piracy if you don't help me. But Kaito, I believed in you. That's why I sent you on that mission. All of this, it's not supposed to be how it ended up. I got shafted out of my job and... and I'm asking for your help. Please."

Kaito looks at Ryan, who continues, "I know that I did some messed up stuff, but I'm just not... normal. I'm not a good person. I've had my job for so long that I just don't care about doing anything else. And I've sat here in this room alone for twenty years waiting for a good person to show up and help me. I'm patient, I can wait some more if you've got stuff going on, but... I need your help, Kaito. I never minded being alone when I was in my demiplane, when I could just tune into any corner of reality and watch it all, but I can't do that anymore. I'm trapped. This is hell for me."

Kaito listens to his plea and considers his response.

"Bullshit, you wouldn't wanted to keep reality together if you wouldn't have some good in you. And you are right; you helped me out, so I'll help you out."

I didn't want to break reality, but keeping the orb in check might be a good idea, it's best not to leave in the wrong hands. This is tame enoug to do.

Also; fuck Aegis.
>>
>>45012801
>Bullshit, you wouldn't wanted to keep reality together if you wouldn't have some good in you.
If reality didn't hold, Ryan would've lost his job. This is basically some roundabout office politics that got Ryan fired, so now he wants to sabotage Aegis and get his old job back.
>>
>>45012849
So he says. Its also possible Aegis is not the sort to explain exactly why coworkers were fired to outsiders, and whoever middle management is had a good reason to kick out Ryan.
>>
>>45012849
I am referring to that very first time he took the job. I mean "all powerful in his dempilane" is a sweet deal, but "watching realities for an eternity" isn't, you have to like people at least a bit, or he would have asked relocation to a full animal-men world a long time ago.
>>
>>45012900
Now that you mention it, we should ask what makes him think Chronosis will give his job back just because we broke into his place again. He looks like a cool guy, but still.
>>
>>45012900
The way Ryan explained it, Aegis and his goons unjustly blamed Ryan for everything (since his reality was the cause of the crisis), so they forced Ryan to take the fall for something he didn't do. Ryan thinks that's bullshit and apparently never liked Aegis anyway, so now he wants to force his way back into his "office building" and take back his job.

>>45012901

"Isn't there any other way to free you or get you home?" Kaito asks.

"The orb is our best bet," he says. "There are other ways to break apart realities but... Well, look: there was this one time when one of the parallel universes to your own started merging with a completely different universe. This was because, at two separate places in both realities but at the exact same time, two people were thrown into a portal. Now, the circumstances were absolutely nearly completely impossible, but when you understand just how many parallel realities there are, these sorts of things are bound to happen sooner or later. Anyway, these two beings merged together and began merging both realities into one. It was a messy affair and everyone would rather forget about it and move on, but it happened and nothing will change that."

"What's that got to do with anything?"

"I'm just demonstrating that without the orb, breaking reality is less predictable. We can't rely on it ever happening. So, we get the orb, and we use it to specifically control how we break realty to ensure that it's not a mess."

Kaito listens to him as he finishes. "Alright, Ryan, look... I'll help you. You helped me once, so I figure I owe it to you. But there's something else I need to do first, alright? A few things, maybe."

"I'm patient," he says. "You can head back up to the surface. I'll give you a lift."

"One more thing," Kaito says. "You might not think yourself a good person, but just being in the position of a watcher and helping patch up holes in reality means you're doing some good."

"I used to tell myself that all the time, too," Ryan admits. "I still believe it, but the real thing is that I'm selfish, Kaito. Just as selfish as Aegis is, maybe. He wanted my job and now I want it back from him. But I'll tell you what I would never have done, and that's have you wake up twenty years later. He's spiteful. Me, I might be indifferent, but I'm not spiteful. Except against Aegis, because fuck that guy."

"I'll look for the orb when I'm done with my other business," Kaito promises. "Just don't go too crazy while I'm gone, alright?"

Ryan nods. "I'll be okay. Good luck out there, Kaito."

The human nods and heads towards the exit. Once there, Ryan creates a vortex that propells him up to the surface. In mere moments, he's expelled violently out of the water and onto the deck of the Dragon Wing.

Immediately, Mileena runs up to him and helps lift his head up. "Kaito! What happened?"

"The ships...?" he asks.

"They're gone," Mileena says. "Sailed off."

"We don't have to worry about Farragut anymore," he tells her, and the crew immediately cheers, throwing hats and sabers up into the air. Mileena leans in close and asks him what he means. "He was some sort of cursed sea man; he rallied the pirates in search of strong warriors. He originally meant to fight you, but found me instead. I defeated him, and he disbanded the pirates in turn. He's at rest now. There will still be pirates, but he won't organize them or hire mercenaries from other realms."

Mileena pulls down her mask and kisses Kaito, embracing him once more. "I've worked towards this for years," she says. "Finally, these seas are safer..."

She helps him to his feet and hands him the Staff of Raiden. "We can put into port now," she says. "No pirates, no danger... we can go anywhere we want."

With the Staff of Raiden, Kaito teleports the ship across the realm, back to the lands of the royal family. The crew of the ship look up in awe at the towering waterfalls and magnificent structures around them as Kaito pulls the ship into the dock at the base of the cliff the royal palace rests upon. Once they have docked, the crew goes to work on mooring the ship and anchoring it in place as Kaito and Mileena, along with a few others, walk up the winding path that leads to the palace. Biggs and Wedge lead the way (after taking the time to re-change back into their proper Edenian Knight attire) and order other guards to make way for Princess Mileena.

They are given a royal reception as they walk into the throne room. Once within, Kitana, Sindel and Jerrod do not remain sitting; rather, they rise and come to greet their returned daughter halfway. Kitana embraces her sister before Jerrod and Sindel do the same as Kaito looks on with a smile. That evening, as repairs are being done upon the Dragon Wing, the crew uses the royal dining hall for a much-deserved feast, though this is the most rowdy of feasts the palace had ever hosted. Many of her crew are without manners of any form, and some even break into small fights over choice cuts of meat. Rather than elegant wine, harder drinks flow and songs are sung.

Sindel and Jerrod tolerate it, but are clearly unamused. Kitana is more receptive, though she spends most of her time with Mileena, talking of the things she has done while she has been away. Liu Kang discusses things with Kaito and they make their plans for visiting Yanake's lands. Smoke, having returned to the Lin Kuei temple to look for Vapor, is not present, but Jade is and the yound lady is given quite a stern talking to for running off without asking. Jade is not so upset that she left on Kaito's boat; merely that she did not tell anyone. Either way, she is happy her daughter is safe.
>>
>>45015172

The opportunity is also given for the crew to interract with the royal family and the various officials of the court, introducing themselves and speaking of their families and histories. Kaito is given a chance to learn more about some of them as they speak about themselves. The only person who neglects to come to the feast is the blind orc, who instead wishes to part with them and wander Edenia. Kaito does not learn the orc's name, nor what realm he is from.

After the feast, much of the palace's stores of food are sorely depleted, and the crew returns to the Dragon Wing with happy hearts and full bellies, with some of them needing to be carried down. Mileena, however, has other plans for Kaito and takes him up to her room, which has been kept in prestine condition since her leaving. Once there, she all but throws him onto her bed and brushes aside her modest collection of teddy bears before running into her closet. Kaito eagerly awaits her return, and she leaves the closet with a new outfit, one that is much more revealing in nature, with a thin veil and a royal crown. After briefly modeling for him, she crawls onto the bed to join him.

Kaito, for his part, tries his hardest to make her feel like a princess.

Kaito awakens earlier than Mileena and gets dressed, heading down to the dock. Royal carpenters worked all night to repair the ship, and a new set of sails has been put into place. The crew, though some of them are rather groggy and still asleep, are making preparations to sail. They enjoyed their time feasting, but life on the water suits them better.

It doesn't take long for Liu Kang to make his way down to the docks as well. He approaches Kaito and greets him. "Heading out?" he asks.

"Soon, likely," Kaito replies. "The boat's in good condition. The edenians did damn fine work, even if it did take all night."

"Are you going to bring Mileena?" Liu asks.

"Hadn't thought of leaving her behind. Why?"

"Nothing, I just thought that you might, seeing as how it would give her a chance to spend some time with Kitana and her perents without either of us intruding."

Kaito folds his arms and thinks. It's true that Mileena could use a bit of a break, though she is still the strongest link between Kaito and his new crew. Then again, there's also the fact that Yanake once offered to make him her husband, and he is heading there once more... But surely she wouldn't be jealous of a twenty-year-old offer, would she?

Along the way back to the palace, Kaito is suddenly surprised by the appearance of Vapor and Jade outside the palace. "Go on," Jade says.

Vapor inches foward a bit. "Kaito, I'm sorry I snuck onto your ship without telling you," she says, even though she had already apologized in the past. "And... if it's alright with you, I'd like to stay on your ship so I can see more of the realms, please."

Jade smiles and gently squeezes her daughter's shoulder. "Also, I promise to try and be more social and not h-hide all the time."

Kaito smiles and holds out his hand. "Welcome aboard!"

She hesitantly takes his hand and shakes it. As she walks down towards the boat, Jade walks with Kaito into the palace. "Please keep an eye on her," she says. "I'd like her very much to overcome her shyness. Perhaps time away from the temples and palace will do just that; a ship where she can work with others and lend a helping hand might do her some good."

"Happy to help," Kaito replies as he turns to go up the stairs before entering Mileena's room. He sits on the edge of the bed and gently stirs her awake.

"Is it time?" she asks.

"That's up to you," he says. "How would you feel about spending more time here with Kitana? Liu and I could go visit Master Bo' Rai Cho."

Mileena sits up a bit. "I'd like to, but my crew is my crew," she says. "I can't be away from them; what if something happened and I was not there to help fight or lead?"

"Well, they'd have me, and Jon," Kaito says. "Are you sure you don't want to spend more time with Kitana?"

"Time is what I have lots of," she says. "We can always come back." She leans up to kiss him. "Don't think you'll get rid of me that easily," she teases.

"I'll go get the ship ready, then," Kaito replies as she slips out of bed to get dressed.

And so, with Mileena alongside him, Kaito proceeds down to the dock and sets sail. He stands alongside Cinder on the deck of the ship as they both watch the palace vanish in the distance before he takes out the Staff of Raiden and prepares for the journey to Outworld.

In less than an hour, the crew are once more sailing upon the seas of Outworld, only this time they don't end up in the path of a storm giant. Kaito helps guide the ship to land. The crew quickly anchor the ship just offshore.

Kaito remembers the dock where he once chartered a ship to take him to the lands ruled by Shao Kahn during the second tournament, but the dock is now gone, abandonned and left to break apart against the strong sea. Regardless, the city of Xun-Koto is not far from here.

Vapor, Sierra and Yahra take an interest in going. Chomba, though his people live only a short distance north, declines; the crocodile-man is not up to re-visiting them. Mileena leaves Jon in command as she and Liu Kang climb into the longboat with Kaito and the others.

The six of them make their way to shore and begin the trek to the city. The walls of the large city, the ones that Kaito once helped fight an army of Shao Kahn outside of to break their siege alongside Rokuro, have their gates open and people can walk freely through them.

Once inside the city, Kaito looks around. The people seem prosperous and busy, with many shops and markets. It looks very different from when he was here twenty years ago; cleaner, stronger, more lively.

As they approach the palace from the main road, Kaito looks up at it. It's been given a new coat of paint and looks much grander than it did during the time of the siege. As they reach the steps, two guards move to intercept them, and an all-too-familiar scene for Kaito begins to play out.

"Halt! Please, state your business at the palace. We have been asked to keep track of all visitors due to a threat against Lady Yanake's life."

Kaito steps aside. "I present Liu Kang, champion of Mortal Kombat for Earthrealm, and Princess Mileena of the royal family of Edenia, both slayers of Shao Kahn and liberators of Outworld from his tyranny!"

Immediately the guards both bow. "Forgive us! We knew not you were coming in advance! Please, give us a moment to inform Lady Yanake of your arrival!"

They stand and rush into the palace. Kaito smiles as Mileena gives him a strange look. "What are you doing?" she asks.

"Surprising an old friend," he says with a smile. "I do so love doing it."

After a moment, a small compliment of guards exits the palace to lead them inside. Kaito intentionally stays in the back as they reach the throne room. From behind Yahra's shoulder, he looks up at Yanake.

When he last saw her, she wore fiery clothing and carried a staff; she was youthful, athletic and ready to lead her people into war. Now, twenty years later, she remains beautiful, but now wears a more regal-looking gown, with her hair done up and held in place with a golden pin. Earings hang from her ears and she sits with great posture. Age shows upon her face, but she does not look elderly; rather, she appears strong, wise and remains quite beautiful.

"I am honored by your visit," she says, moving to stand and walk down from her throne. She and some of her aides bow to Liu Kang and Mileena, who do the same. "I have not seen you since we fought against the forces of Shao Kahn long ago in Earthrealm," she says to Liu Kang.

Yanake greets their companions as well, and as the last one moves aside, she finally sees Kaito and gasps, bringing a hand to her mouth in shock. "It cannot be," she whispers. "Kaito?"

"You heard what happened?" Kaito asks.

"They said that you had fallen asleep and would not wake. I visited you and spoke with you before returning to Outworld... You look now just as you did then."

"The chamber kept me young for twenty years," he says. "But I was asleep the entire time. I woke up not too long ago and have been making my way around the realms, seeing people."

She smiles. "Truly, this is a blessed day! This city has you to thank for its freedom! But what of your other allies---the tarkatan, and the traitor from the Brotherhood of Shadow? I know of Prince Rukoro, but what of your sphinx ally?"

Kaito's smile vanishes and both Mileena and Liu Kang turn away a bit at the mention of Turana. Yanake seems to sense the change in atmosphere. "What?"

"She's no longer with us," Kaito says. "I don't know where she is." 'A lie will do for now,' he decides.

"A tour would be nice," Kaito says.

"At once!" she replies.

She leads them on a tour of the new palace, showing them the sights. For the last twenty years they have been hard at work establishing Xun-Koto as the center of the region, protecting the smaller villages and towns who handle most of the farming and trade. They come to a balcony that overlooks most of the walled city and Yanake stands proudly as she looks upon the fruit of her efforts.

"The guard out front said there was a threat against your life," Kaito asks. "What's that about?"

Yanake's smile fades. "Assassins," she says. "I do not know where they come from or why they have targetted me. But they have attempted in different ways---poison drinks, arrows, even brazen attacks in the streets. I have needed a full guard to accompany me at all times and extra supervision on my food's preparation."

"Is there nothing that is known about them? None of them caught?" Mileena asks.

"So far, no," she replies. "It is terribly troubling. I have not left the palace in some time since they began only a short while ago."

>>45019489

"Well, they were men, right? Outworlders?"

"As far as we know, yes. But I fear that they may belong to the Brotherhood of Shadow."

"Why? I thought we beat them out of this city twenty years ago," Kaito says.

"Perhaps so, but perhaps they haven't forgotten it either," she replies. "I fear someone has put a price on my life."

>>45019529

"Do you know why?"

"Truly not," she says. "But there may be other reasons."

She turns and walks back into the palace with you and the others following. "Please," she begins and changes the subject, "I invite you to make yourselves comfortable in any of our guest rooms for the evening. I would be delighted to take you on a tour tomorrow morning."

Liu Kang bows and moves on from the group, along with a few of the others, though Mileena and Kaito stay to speak with Yanake.

"These assassins sound like serious business," Kaito remarks. "They're truly that adamant about killing you?"

"There have been no less than eight attempts on my life," Yanake says. "But my resolve is strong in spite of this. I have sponsored many investigations but we have turned up no evidence whatsoever of any conspiracy or hideout for these assassins."

"Perhaps tomorrow we could bait them out," Kaito suggests.

Yanake's brows raise a bit. "You mean to set a trap for them?"

"Well, they don't know who we are, presumably. I think we could take them by surprise."

"It's risky," Mileena says. "But perhaps worth it."

Kaito offers up a suggestion. "Maybe one of us should keep watch tonight," he says. "I mean, just in case."

"I would like that very much," Yanake says. "I must admit, I feel much safer with you here in the palace."

Mileena shrugs. "I don't mind taking the watch."

Yanake pauses. "If it pleases, your highness, I would like Kaito to stand guard. I would very much appreciate a chance to catch up with him personally."

Mileena blinks a few times before looking back to Kaito. "Again, I don't mind," she says nonchalantly. "Shall I see you in the morning, then?"

Kaito nods and Mileena parts from them then, walking to one of the guard rooms. Yanake walks alongside Kaito towards her quarters. "It's fantastic seeing you again," she says with a smile. "This city owes you a deep debt of gratitude for your help, not just in liberating it, but also in helping to destroy Shao Kahn."

"I really don't need any gratitude," Kaito says, trying to remain humble. "I'm fine with just knowing that I helped."

They reach the doors of her room and she opens them, offering him to come inside.

Kaito enters the room and so does she; he then closes the door and begins looking around the room, waving his hands. "What are you doing?" she asks as he hurriedly walks around. "Checking for assassins?"

"Not assassins," he says. "Just making sure we're alone. There's an invisible girl who tends to follow me around a lot."

He approaches the window and looks out before closing it. He turns back to Yanake, who has sat at a table and is pouring some cold tea from a pot. "Join me," she invites.

He sits down and graciously drinks as she asks him about what he has been up to since his awakening. He gives her a brief, abridged telling of his journies since, and she in turn begins describing the process she has taken in turning Xun-Koto into a stable city at the heart of the region. It has not been an easy task, but she has been unwavering in the face of adversity, just as he remembered she was when they first met.

"You seem to have done very well for yourself," he says, complimenting her dress.

"Honestly, I never much liked all the regalia," she admits. "But the people enjoy it, and it helps remind visiting officials who they are speaking with." She takes a quiet sip before changing the subject. "About your earlier question... No, none of my family has been targetted. I am the only one of my family."

He pauses and puts the cup down. "No children? No husband?"

She shakes her head. Kaito's eyes narrow a bit as she averts hers from his gaze; he recalls, long ago, when she asked him to stay here in this city with her and lead the people. He had turned her down, wanting to continue his travels elsewhere and beyond. "Why?" he asks, wondering if she held out hope in those twenty years that he would come back to her.

"I never met anyone worthy of asking," she says before looking into his eyes. "Anyone else, rather."
>>
>>45020511

The room becomes silent as she takes another sip. "I'm terribly sorry," she suddenly breaks the silence. "I didn't mean to make you feel awkward."

"No, it's not that," Kaito says. "I'm just surprised, is all. No one? No soldiers, or dignitaries?"

"No," she says. "Some suitors have been good men, but... perhaps my expectations were simly unrealistic of them."

"Well, it's not unrealistic," Kaito says. "I mean, there must be someone out there. Don't you want to carry on your line?"

"I do," she says softly. "...In fact, I did not mention it before, but I believe that it may have a connection with the assassins."

"What? What do you mean?"

"I think there are conspirators, possibly even in my court. I believe that since the region has settled down and my work is done, they want to remove me from my position by taking my life. My work is done, the people are safe... They believe a new ruler needs to be put into place. And since I have no heir..."

Her hands fidgit in her lap a bit. "I am afraid, Kaito."

Kaito reaches for her nervous hands and takes them in his own. "Everything's going to be fine," he says with a warm smile. "I promise you that I'm going to find these assassins. I live for these kinds of situations---trust me. I'm not leaving your city empty-handed."

She returns his smile. "You don't know how much that means to me to hear you say that," she replies.

The moment is interrupted by the door to her room being forced open. Kaito immediately stands and looks as Vapor rushes in, panting. "Kaito!"

"What? I didn't do anything!" he's fast to defend himself from the girl and her history of voyeurism.

"No---It's Mileena!"

Kaito follows her out of her room with Yanake right behind as they make their way towards the guest room. Kaito looks on and sees two handmaidens outside with frightened looks on their faces. He swears, if this is about her face causing a commotion...

He runs up to the door and spies the form of Mileena, on the floor, unconscious. His eyes widen as he reaches down to pick her up. "Mileena? Mileena!"

She is unresponsive and her eyes are glossy and don't seem to be registering anything. She mumbles. He takes off her mask to look check if she is breathing, and when he does, he notices something on her neck; two small red puncture marks.

Just then, something else catches his eye. He looks off to the side and sees a cobra slither into view. It rises up and its hood widens as it hisses at him and speaks. "Come back, Kaito. I'm waiting for you." Before he can do anything, it vanishes in a puff of green magic. Kaito watches this happen with disbelief before looking back at the woman in his arms while Vapor and Yanake look on from the doorway. He gently shakes her but there is no response---she has fallen into some kind of poison-induced coma.

Kaito closes his eyes. He knew the voice that snake spoke with. A voice that currently resides in the deserts not far north of Xun-Koto.

It was Turana.

Yeah, like I said I'm almost done, I'm just trying to punch it up a bit more.

Honestly it's been a long damn while since I did any smut and I think it shows, I was never much good at it.
>>
I was kinda hoping we could hire Dairou, or one of Kano's boys to help us fight Turana, and perhaps kill her if bad comes to worst, and Kaito can't bring himself to kill her.
Perhaps Tremor
>>
>>45021255
I really appriciate the effort, but isn't it a little inappropriate at the moment? She just fell into a coma.
>>
>>45021260

If it truly comes down to us not being able to redeem her, then I think it should be us.

It's not our fault she turned out the way she did, circumstances far beyond the scope of us made all of this happen (FUCKING AEGIS) but in the end it woulnd't feel right to have someone else do it.
>>
>>45021175
Oh my...
Turana is going around killing every single girl we have ever had any kind of connection with
>>
>>45021255
Not going to lie the first part was actually fairly well written

Turana knows Kaito is up and about but for how long? Was it the moment he opened his eyes or just recently?

Yeah... It's a little weird in the context of this cliffhanger I just dropped on everyone, isn't it.

Oh well. I'm working on it now.

>>
>>45021550
I don't know, but I say it's worth a shot
>>
>>45021550
Seeing that it couldn't help Kenshi's eyes, and that venom is probably of magical origin, I don't think so. Maybe on of the godesses, or the reunited one can.
>>
>>45021572

All of them

But in all seriously I wouldn't mind some shamanistic stuff or voodoo
>>
>>45021600
I'm pretty sure we could just hop over to Edenia and see if they could try something.
>>

So far Quan Chi's Shang Tsung's, and Nightwolf's attacks from 9 and 10, are either implemented, or are on the list. I think I can punch it with some voodoo.
>>
>>45021634
I think it is a good idea to put Mileena in the royal families care.
>>
>>45021780
>>45021634

The real thing to wonder is if she is dying or not. I don't think Turana would want to leave her alive. Perhaps only she has the cure? If nothing else works, but I do vote on the broken goddess plan.
>>
>>45021846
From what I read all it did was put her in a coma
>>
>>45021846
Maybe place her in a Jinsei chamber while we search?
Also, I think unless we go to Turana first, others will fall in the meantime.
>>
>>45021846
Turana has mentioned in the side stories that she sincerely hates Mileena for some reason. Part of me believes she blames Mileena for Kaito's disappearance.
>>
>>45021900

I wonder if she's been waiting for Mileena to come to Outworld to do this. It doesn't help that Turana and Yanake ended up being on the same continent.

I know there's been some talk about Turana being behind Yanake's assassination attempts, but if she could send a magical snake that could take Mileena by surprise, something tells me that she could've done it to Yanake long ago. I think they're not the same.
>>
>>45021945
They're probably unrelated, and I'm going to be honest, I'm not super worried about Mileena dying. This is MK, people only die by Kombat
>>
>>45021945
Yes that's right. But can Kaito follow trough his promise to find lead on the assassins before he leaves?
>>
>>45021981
I doubt we have that timetable, we could probably assign Vapor to her or something.
>>
Oh, no! Mileena's dead! Whelp, guess we'll have to find a new waifu.

Kidding. But I am really sad that Yanake never ended up with anyone, when almost all of our other friends did except for Turana
>>
>>45022030
Well obviously, we need to hook her up with someone
>>
>>45022030
I feel like she really should have, but Damashi made to where she didn't for cheap drama. But I'm a cynical fuck, what do I know?
>>
>>45022065
>I feel like she really should have, but Damashi made to where she didn't for cheap drama.

I had every confidence in my players that they wouldn't be unfaithful to Mileena, but at the same time not everyone gets a happy ending. Yanake built something great within her city, but she was too caught up to build a family, letting excuses get in the way and dreaming of unrealistic expectations.

I certainly didn't want it to come off as cheap but I understand how you feel.
>>
>>45022098
Like I said I'm a cynical fuck, nothing to do with you.

I may have some issues, but I'll be damned if there isn't something sexy about MK's monstergirls.

>a single cyborg character who can embody the moves of three other popular ones
It is a very attractive character to main to be honest.
>>
>>45022353
It's a challange on it's onw, to grow man enough, and wear the pants in this kind of relationship.

Like Kaito have been very adapting so far, but i am sure he could pull in the breaks with little to no effort, any time
>>
>>45022397
Probably just going to try out Sektor, I'm not confident enough to try Cyrax.

>>
>>45022352

I'm more curious about his story; if Tri-Borg is an actual character who emultes the cyborgs or if "Tri-Borg" isn't actually really a character at all, just a moniker to select which cyborg you want to play as.

His reveal trailer where he places his hand on Sektor's head and gets his powers really has me interested and wondering if he's MK's version of Mega Man.

I want to know what his profile/ending are going to be like.

It figures that I only care about story, eh?

Dude I'm curious too, but story goes out the window when we have leather face, jason and the xenomorph in the game.
>>
>>45022449
Well Sektor's original plan was to become a full AI right?
If I would have to guess, he wanted to make a body that he would majorly operate (besides having backups). It makes sense that this body would embody every piece of cyborg equipment the old Lin Kuei could put their hands on.
As how this thig achieved sentience, or who is in it, is a different question alltogether.

>>45022465
Becoming the kind of badass who makes shokan suitors back the fuck off is also something that sounds like worthwile endevaour.

Wait, why is he TRI-borg if it's FOUR characters?

>>45022558
I think the reason behing Xenomorph instead of Baraka was, that they couldn't think of enough variations for him, so they merged it with Xenomorph's.
Shame about all those characters who got new shiny modells, voice actors, and remained unplayable.

Done.

Alright, there's only so much I can add. Here's the final, revised version (I changed some wording here and there and added some more to previous sections).

It's smut, yadda yadda, some teethplay and a lot of scratching, but it's pretty vanilla otherwise.

I think a good place to leave off on Kaito is when we get the Wind shard freed, help purify Decay, catch up with Turana and everything that's planned for her, and visit the remaining courts in Outworld that we haven't had a chance to yet. Still an impressive list of things to do, but I don't want to leave anything half-done.

My plan is that once that's done, we're going to have an opportunity to select a place for Kaito to go and train in, or possibly multiple places. Basically, putting him out of the game for a bit while he masters (or begins to master) his new abilities.

This gives us a good timeframe in which we can switch perspectives to Cao, our new down-on-his-luck hero in the lands of Kotal Kahn.
>>
>>45023127
I hope we can play him differently than Kaito. Love his character, but I'd want to do it differently than Kaito 2.0
>>
>>45023149
>Love his character, but I'd want to do it differently than Kaito 2.0

The angle I'm working on right now is "Bitter and Selfish" with a caring side for his sisters but an indifference towards others and everything else. Usually rude. Self-reliant, not much for friends or teamwork, but such things will have to be tested and possibly overcome.
>>
>>45023169
How does he think about Kotal and his court? Or they are to far above his notice?
>>

Anyone can guess if Johnny and the like, could charge up any of their kicks and punches with his green energy, or only specific ones?
I can't decide if he can preform a flipkick on his own and just adding extra punch to it, or the kick flips because of the glow

I always imagined that Johnny can do the flipkick on his own, he just enhances it with the green energy. I mean, I wouldn't put it past him.
