Still holed up in my sister's room, the four of us try our best to work out the details of what we know about Faceless's Branch. And while were busy with that, Allison doesn't budge from her place in front of her closet's door as if she's guarding its contents.

I'm trying not to think about what's in there.

"So you're saying that this guy can walk into a wall and come out somewhere else?" Allison asks.
"Apparently so," Irene replies with a heavy sigh. "I'm already dreading telling the others that their assumptions of his Branch were completely wrong..."
"That's no surprise," Charlotte says. "Sometimes it seems like that's all your people know how to do."
"Well excuse me if I-" Irene glances at Allison and stops herself. "Excuse me."
"Umm, it's okay?"

And now Allison seems even more uneasy than she was before.

"Sorry," I say, turning to her, "The people that Irene works for don't exactly get along with Charlotte's father and..."
"Oh," Allison nods. "Okay, that makes sense enough."

Then she turns to Irene and Charlotte, who are busy angrily glaring at each other.

"But if they don't want me throwing them the hell out of my room right this instant," Allison says, raising her voice, "I suggest that they stow it until later."
"Er-" Irene stammers. "Sorry, Allison," she says, lowering her head.

As expected, it takes Charlotte a lot longer to apologize for starting stuff. Again.

Seeing that -I'm- also less than thrilled with the way that she's acting, Charlotte shrinks back like a puppy who's just been scolded.

"Sorry," she mumbles with none of her usual confidence.

Aaaand now the rest of them are staring at me too. Just great.

Seems that the fact he's specifically sticking around is horribly different than what he's used to. It is bizarre that someone whose branch is best at bullshit getaways is trying to go for some harassment strategy. The winning strategy would be to simply try to predict what spots he'll attack next and divide up for ambushes.

On the other hand, the cards generally haven't been too informative aside from affirming that "Hey, i'm the prick who fucked your house up!"

The subtext said that we cleared his name of something, but I'd only think that perhaps the mafia had some shit with him that we unintentional cleared or to Qlipoth. Or if we're going with Occam's Razor it could just be him baiting Theresa for having a similar costume and allowing him to skirt away from his most recent robbing quite handily.

"Theresa?" I call out, trying to get at least -some- of the attention off of me.
"Eh!?" Theresa flinches. "Uh, what's up?"
"That card that Faceless left in my room," I say, "do you still have it?"

I'm still trying to figure out how he left it without setting off a Synapse with any of the three Branch holders who were around at the time.

"Yeah, it's right here," Theresa says, flipping it around in her fingers like a street performer. "Here you go."

Theresa extends her arm towards me to give the card back, but Allison snatches it from her before I can take it.

"What's this?" she says, holding it in the air.

...whatever. There's no use in trying to keep her out of the loop at this point, she already knows (almost) everything that's happened with me since getting caught up in Branch stuff.

"Like I said, Faceless left that in my room. We found it this morning."
"Hm," Allison looks it over. "It's a calling card?"

She then takes a few seconds to read the thing out loud. All the random French thrown in for no reason sounds especially cringey when said out loud, especially since Allison's taking the extra effort to say it with the right accent and all that. And once she's done, she continues staring at it like she's unsure what she just read.

"What the hell IS this?" she asks, her face twisted into a painful-looking grimace. "It's like bad teenage roleplay."
"I know, right?" Theresa sighs.

Speaking of which, the idea of Charlotte being Faceless's next target is still worrying me. Everything that she has is totally unprotected and the most important things to her are her animals... and judging from how she flipped out and turned into a literal monster the last time something happened to them, I very much doubt that she'd take it very well if he tried something there.

"No," she shakes her head. "Rhaccy's right outside," she points out the window, "and both Milla and Loki are back at the hotel."
"Then there's no reason to panic, right?" she says with an uneasy smile. "Cecile's just saying that you should be prepared!"

After another long pause, Charlotte hurries out of the room with her phone in hand. And once she's gone, Irene breathes a long sigh of relief.

"All his targets have been hit at night," Irene replies. "As far as we know, anyways."
"The sun was down when I ran into him that time, too," Theresa says.

"I could go snooping around before it gets dark," Theresa shrugs. "Maybe try and see if someone's gotten a card from him."

As she realizes that she just said that in front of two people who -aren't- in on her whole kite dressup game, Theresa bites her lip and takers a deep breath.

"Yeah," Irene replies, "but it's still dangerous to go sneaking around places where you're not supposed to be."
"For fuckin' real," Allison say,s rolling her eyes. "You can leave fingerprints or DNA evidence or get trapped somewhere with no way to get out..."
"She's right," Irene nods.

What a time for them to get all reasonable on us.

Since I'm the only one here who knows Theresa's deal, I guess it's up to me to defend her here. And there's also the fact that she's my friend. Can't forget that.

And with that, Theresa makes her way towards the door so she can leave.

"You interested in coming along if I do find out where he's gonna be?" she whispers to me as she walks past.
