The sun is a cold sphere of light that dimly illuminates the ice-shrouded planet. Toxic winds howl and blow over the mountain peaks driving snow and ice. Frost grows rapidly across the hulls of the ships floating over the mountain fortress, Coffins kept running to prevent the craft from freezing.

Necrolyte Legionnaires transport supplies in crates of bone from the ships to the relatively warmer shelter of the ruined command center. Technicians hard at work trying to repair and thaw out consoles and screens assisted by a floating Think Tank. Legionnaires pick through the Confederates old military research base collecting possibly useful tech and salvage, piling up the broken cyborgs and corpses.

Further below the blasts of Necrotic Flayers tear through the air as soldiers blast away in shifts at the thick bulkhead sealing off the research level from the concealed and classified levels. Nekris and the Voidsinger watch in silence as the flayers pause their blasting to allow soldiers to rush forward and literally scoop away chunks of the molten and decayed metal away. Once cleared to the harder layers the flayers are fired up once more, sickly green lights focused on a single point.

Whatever had sealed themselves down below clearly knew they were coming. An advanced cyborg had killed several of their number to buy time for the bulkheads to seal. Yet as they continued to blast away the pair of quiet generals knew they were close to punching through and discovering the final secrets of this strange facility.

The first rains hit the Ructu villagers, the harsh hurricanes due any day now with the horizons dark and flashing with lightning. Ructu villagers do their best to gather enough food for the coming season when the storms could last days without reprieve. The encroaching storms drive many of the villages to test out the offered relief in the form of the kelp vats. To the surprise of many they find it quite palatable and sweet even.

Red-Leaf-Strains guides her herd through harsh mountain passes, the tall creatures finding the stone paths hard to climb and walk on. Yet they continued on, the herd matron guided by the dreamstone and the Gargoyle keeping watching over them. An older plainsrunner slipped along a crack in the stone, their long limb breaking as they stumbled. The rest of the herd help them carry on, younger osogo propping the old one between them but it slows their ascent, forcing them to retire early under an outcropping of stone that shielded them from the wind and snow. Red-Leaf-Strains strokes the dreamstone before bringing it to the injured plainsrunner, sharing her visions with them that night.

The liquid of the Cauldron churn then flash with Void light before Lorgul emerges from the vat. He stands on the surface of the roiling vat stretching his limbs until the bones pop. His armor was fresh and shiny, repaired in the potent mix of the necrotic fluids. A Disciple waited for him with the Voidknights Maul in hand. Bowing as he handed off the weapon Lorgul turns to speak with a passing Think Tank to catch up on the previous days events.

On the Lavafathers moon Obsidianborn constructs work with Coffins as they build the skeletons of the first shipyards. Stonestars board Corvettes and Frigates and depart from Agona's fortress, the warriors and researchers split up among the Necrotic Fleet, a new exchange program between forces.

There was much to be done.

But first

The Voidsinger lifts a hand and barks an order and the Osjiic and Netu that had been taking a turn with the flayers halt and step back allowing the other soldiers to rush in and scrap away the slag. One knocks on a patch of the still hard metal and lets out a shout as the sound of bullets striking the metal ring out from the other side but the metal holds. There was scattered laughter as the human, a woman with a prosthetic limb enhanced by her exosuit, directs a crude gesture to the others as she stepped back.

Looking to Nekris standing nearby, his new skin a dark gray that almost eliminates his silhouette in the dark, the Voidsinger motions to the weakened bulkhead, "Seems we are just about ready. Would you like the honor or should I?"

Predator Nekris just shrugs and motions with one of his lesser arms for the Voidsinger to handle it. His limbs fold across his chest, alpha stalker curled around his clawed feet but tense and ready with its long tail lashing.

Void energy ripples across the Voidsingers body in increasing pulses as he lifts his hand up toward the door. A small marble sized ball of void energy condenses just above his palm. The orb grows slowly with twitching energy, a far-cry from the power of the Deathshead Guards or the Voidknights, but still quite potent.

Osjiic soldiers with heavy shields line up with the smaller troopers hiding behind them or taking cover. The fist-sized orb darts from his grasp, jerking erratically through the air before it strikes the center of the hollowed portion detonating in a flash before condensing itself into oblivion. The weakened bulkhead groans under the strain of the attack before the door cracks and a large portion falls away, enough for three osjiic standing shoulder to shoulder.

The hole gaped darkly before a barrage of bullets and blaster fire rips from the darkness striking the shield wall. Legionnaires and the hidden cyborgs trade weapons fire through the opening until a lull in the fire allows the shieldbearers to march forward through the breach. The Voidsinger is right with them, marching with shield and void-weighted hammer in hand.

Cyborgs fire from their positions in the hallway with crude barricades made from beds and desks likely taken from the side rooms. An Osjiic soldier has takes a blast to their leg making them stumble. The undead automatons automatically shifting their aim to the injured soldier and they fall back bleeding from several wounds but the Voidsinger moves to shield them as legionnaires fill the hallway with metal and bone and necrotic blasts.

The battle is short but brutal, the Voidsinger striding forward with his hammer and shield to crush cyborgs. Several of the shoddily made defenders shatter under a single blow as he marched until the hallway was cleared. There was another elevator, this one seemingly intact but sealed shut.

The Voidsinger rears back with the hammer eruptting with Voidflames before striking the smaller bulkhead. The metal crumples then shatters under the strike revealing the dark elevator shaft.

Soldiers move up and secure anchors for rappelling lines and to quickly search the other rooms. Apparently a sub-barracks or dormitory for the staff assigned to the classified areas. In one of the rooms they find a portion of the floor dug up as if they were trying to make an access point to a lower floor. All it would take was a small explosive charge or a powerful blow to clear the way. To be safe an Osjiic stands guard a safe distance away with their bone rifle held at the ready.

Nekris joins the Voidsinger standing by the elevator, "This operation is yours, Voidsinger," the Predator turns to look at the Osjiic with all four eyes that glint in the darkness.

A few words between the generals and nearly twenty minutes later a handful of flatbody gargoyles slither through the hallways of the fortress like kites on an unseen breeze. Their skin ripples with dark colors from their mimetic upgrade, necrolyte legionnaires not noticing them until they heard a fluttering of dry skin above them.

They twist through the air, coiling around the two generals. Nekris runs a claw along a ridge behind the reconstructeds large eye before an unseen signal sends the ribbons of dark flesh slithering into the darkness of the elevator.

The doors for the elevators were sealed tight with the box seen several floors down. With the doorways sealed the Gargoyles settle for darting into ventilation ducts and crawling on their wings with their flat bodies curling into a skinny lengths. This allowed the keen-eyed creatures to scurry through the air ducts and crawlspaces with ease, claws scrabbling lightly against the metal.

They spend quite some time scurrying through the vents, peering through grates and fallen in sections mapping out the complex. The floors were a mix of fabrication and research labs. One floor contained what looked like a prison or military brigs but larger than one would suspect of a facility this size yet each cell was open and empty. In one room with a large presence of cyborgs was what appeared to be large metal vats that stank of necrotic fluid long evaporated.

The bottom floor was a long hallway devoid of ventilation or ductwork forcing the Gargoyle to crawl along the wall flattened against it melded with color. It was barricaded and manned by groups of Cyborgs standing at the ready in silence.

Cyborgs stalk through the hallways, most the haphazard and crude specimens the necrolytes had encountered but scattered through their numbers were the sleek and deadly models. A handful of them patrolled with squads of the cheaper cyborgs, the weapons replacing their arms flashing with gentle light.

Legionnaires prepare themselves, checking weapons and armor as the Voidsinger and Nekris talk briefly.

An explosive is placed against the weakened floor and soldiers with jump-packs prepare themselves at the elevator. There is a flash and blast of sound, smoke filling the air as the floor caved in from the explosion. Weapons fire came from below as several grenades were rolled into the hole followed by the explosions.

The Voidsinger drops down the shaft with his soldiers landing on the next level to attack the cyborgs as their backs were turned toward the sounds of the explosions. Void-hammer blows shatter cyborgs as necrolyte gunfire shreds through the walls and the defending automatons. The former soldiers for the Daggers and Empire worked side by side as they moved meticulously through the floor. Shields soak up the weapons fire as the warriors fire around them or tossing grenades over their heads.

The fighting is fierce with blaster bolts and flayer beams illuminating the darkened hallways. Undead machines fight with a nearly mindless fervor, guided by the advanced unit from the back. A keen-eyed Kesh hefts their spine caster aiming down a long hallways. There was a hiss of air and then a screech of metallic pain as half of the advanced cyborgs face was ripped away. A second shot piercing the core of the cyborg, bolt dripping in potent acid, dropping the machine to the ground.

Clearing the floor they proceed to the next to repeat the process of efficient cyborg extermination. Another advanced cyborg darts through passages it blasts itself through the walls to fire from unexpected positions. It vaporizes portions of several very unlucky soldiers before it was pounced from above by a flatbody gargoyle wrapping its flat ribbon around its face and upper torso. The thin creature was surprisingly strong as it pins the arms against it's body as it struggles.

Finally the gargoyle slithers away from the cyborg, its skin turning a dark blue as it flees among the scattered debris. The machine twists to aim its rapidly flashing weapon after the fleeing reconstructed not noticing the grenade the gargoyle left wedge against its neck before it detonated.

Necrolyte Legionnaires fight their way floor to floor, crushing cyborgs under an unrelenting hail of bullets and necrotic blasts. The Voidsinger returns to using his void-repeater, the powerful weapon striking the defenders and leaving piles of crumpled metal and bone in its wake.

Nekris stood back and observed, his form dark and indistinct. Jadyk had sent him to observe this new force and judge them. The Lich-Lord had a feeling these living recruits would become quite useful if they proved themselves capable. The Predator crosses his four limbs across his chest watching the conflict through the eyes of the Gargoyles. He glances at the Kesh standing nearby, moderately impressed with its skill and making a note to mention the soldier to the Voidsinger later.

Reaching the research labs the cyborgs clustered thicker as if in desperation. Skeletal faces with glass eyes split open to shriek in cacophonous war cries that almost drowned out their own weapons fire.

A Netu wearing an exoskeleton bristling with spines leaps ahead of a group of Osjiic as an advanced Cyborg charges forth. The former Dagger bristles with electric sparks arcing between the spines as the large three-tined device in its grasp hums with power. There was a blinding flash as a brilliant blue bolt of lightning leaps from the necrolytes weapon striking the running cyborgs. The lightning gun pulses with multiple bolts leaping from the black tines that started to glow red, striking the cyborgs and leaping from one to another.

The attack left smoking and charred husks in its wake but soon other cyborgs move in to refill the ranks, gun fire making the Netu fall back behind the Osjiic shieldline. An Osjiic flayer laughs and congratulates the netu on the brilliant attack, camaraderie starting to be forged in battle.

Necrolyte forces press through the floors attacking the waves of cyborgs rushing at them. Fallen Legionnaires are quickly dragged back to small staging areas where medics and techs tend to the wounded and hand out fresh weapons or ammo to the soldiers.

Gargoyles drop their grenades from ventilation ducts into the midst of cyborgs, driving them from the room smelling of necrotic fluid and power into the awaiting crossfire of hunkered down legionnaires.

To Nekris' approval the progress to final floor is steady but free of severe casualties. To everyones relief the undead machines lacked access to many explosives though there tense moments as several rigged with homemade explosives stuffed into their hollow torsos below their crude powercores charge down hallways with surprising speed before being gunned down or detonated prematurely, the Osjiic shields absorbing most of the blasts.

Finally as the human with the prosthetic arm rips her glowing vibroaxe from the chest of the last cyborg ever floor except the last were secured by the Legion.

The final heavily defended hallway remained with the Sealed Control Room at the end. There are quite a number of Cyborgs stationed in the hall but accurate numbers are hard to take because of the numerous barricades.

There was only one way through to the final room and the Legion takes a breather to prepare themselves. Fresh weapons and ammo are ferried in from above along with fresh troops to replace those carried to the surface for medical treatment.

How shall they tackle this obstacle?

So I've noticed something we should fix. Our ships dont have any boarding options besides jump out and claw our way in.

Make shipsized grapnel hooks, we already have sting whips.

Torpedos boarding pods with a drill bit nose to puncture capitol ship hulls and release troops, maybe even more than what a coffin can carry

Then Darts which are smaller metal spires that puncture a hull and blossom like a rose to release crit crawls or other small saboteur troops.

The Voidsinger was the first to go down with a group of Osjiic shieldbearers and were immediately met with a hail of bullets and blasterfire. Human and vorh bombardiers arrive next with loaded thumpers. They fire over the shields and rock the hallway with explosions to blast away the first of the barricades.

Blasts from chain-flensers and the void-repeater fill the hallways, slow at first but picking up speed until the hallways is a filled with a furious strobing of light that forces more than one legionnaire to look away. The overwhelming firepower rips through the barricades and defenders until a pair of missile streak forth making the exosuit equipped soldiers to stop their bombardment and fall back.

The missiles strike the wall by the shield line and the Voidsingers shield inflamed with shimmering void energy. Managing to absorb most of the blast he nonetheless has to step back, panting and drained from the draining technique he'd only practiced once before with Lorgul and the Disciples.

Sharpshooters line up their shots as flares are fired from thumpers to illuminate the black metal cyborgs waiting for them, spine casters letting out puffs of pressurized air moments before distant cyborgs are struck down or pinned against barricades behind them.

The shieldbearers continue their march down the hall only wide enough for three to stand shoulder to shoulder, several thumper fired grenades flung overhead to crash into the defenders. Dust and smoke fill the hallway, cracks and craters marring the walls as metal boots stomp and crush charred metal and bone underfoot.

Through superior firepower and a steadfast determination the legionnaire push through the hall full of barricades and cyborgs, smashing them aside until Predator Nekris and the Voidsinger stand in the antechamber with it's vault door leading to the main control room.

Hey Grave I was rereading the thread where Jadyk and Nekris took the destroyer and it said there were automated turrets but I don't see that as a research. Is it something we can research or is it something we can already do?

The entrance to the control room is sealed with a large vault door, the antechamber barely tall enough for the Osjiic to stand upright. There was a single dome of a camera on the ceiling with the lens inside rotating and examining them. A single console emerging from the wall next to the vault was covered in frost but a vorh technician moves forth and begins work on thawing it out.

The Voidsinger stood before the door as Nekris makes his way past necrolytes carrying broken cyborgs and debris to clear the hallway. The tall undead general bows his head to the Voidsinger, his short horns nearly scraping the ceiling, "A most impressive display, Voidsinger. Jadyk will be pleased," his praise heard by several nearby necrolytes. He could feel the mix of emotions it brought from them through their domination spikes. Pride, bloodlust, shame and anger foremost among them. Yet also in there, acceptance.

The vorh technician works with the older frozen console but manages to get the screen to flicker then hum as it came to life. The vorgh taps away at the keyboard for several seconds before the screen flickers then blanks to a screen with a cursor blinking.

The vorh scratches their head in confusion despite wearing a thick bone helmet only to grunt in surprise as words started to flash across the screen.

<Hostile forces...identifying...unknown hostiles>

The screen pauses before the words continue

<Hostiles consist of...Osjiic...Vorh...Human...Kesh...Netu...Void and Necrotic energies encountered...unknown technology>

The words fade away before the letters type themselves out once more

<Identify yourself>

The vorh looks to the Voidsinger behind him only to jump in startled surprise at Nekris leaning over to loom right over his shoulder. The technician motions to the screen, "Seems it's a security A.I. Saw a few when we raided Confederate military bases back when we were Daggers. Looks to be a primitive one too."

The cursor flashes on the screen for a few moments

<This facility is property of the Confederacy of Planets. Hostile forces must be repelled. Failure must not be repeated. Facility is owned property, salvage laws not applicable.>

The voidsinger tilts its head, "Repeated failure? Who attacked you in the first place?"

<Designation: Sunscales. Reptilian species, highly religious with divine assistance. Highly aggressive and highly dangerous. Query: Status of Sunscale presence in system?>

The osjiic shakes his head, "We have not encountered any. How many years has it been since this attack?"

<Approximately 173 galactic standard years. Repeat, vacate facility, still property of the Confederacy of Planets. Salvage laws not applicable>

Grunting in annoyance the Voidsinger nods to the vorh, "Get us inside. I would rather not blast our way in and destroy something valuable."

The technician nods and rolls their shoulders for a moment before using tools from a case at their hip to pry open the panel under the screen. The cursor flashes on the screen as the tech starts tugging and snipping at wires,

<Halt at once. Tampering with military facilities are punishable by death and disintegration>

The vorh laughs as he glances up at the screen, "Surprised this old A.I. is advanced enough to bluff," the say as they rewire portions to bypass damaged sections, water dripping from the console as the frost thawed out.

It takes the vorh nearly a quarter of an hour with the screen flashing warning and orders to vacate before they let out an exclamation of success. The Necrolytes hear the heavy mechanisms within the vault click and hiss as the door unlocks before swinging inwards to reveal a large room full of computer banks.

The room was mostly frost free with several scattered skeletons burned to a crisp on the floor. A large glass vat that once reached from floor to ceiling lay shattered in the middle of the room, the stains of necrotic fluid spread around it. A main console flashes with the words of the facilities defensive A.I. but the vorh technician moves off to a row of consoles as other tech and soldiers filed in to inspect the room and systems.

The vorh examines a panel set in the wall covered with thick glass and motions to the Voidsinger, "This is the main core for the A.I. Should I destroy it or just shut it up for now?" their hand rests on the hilt of their necroflenser carbine

Ok I'm going to call it here for the night. My threads seem to be getting smaller and smaller in the post count area but i hope folks had fun, I know I did as usual running it. These threads are some of the highlights of my weak.

Thread is archived please vote for it if you want.

Thanks for running man

Also feel free to suggest troop or ship building orders.

There are two fleets preparing to mobilize that you know of. The Osjiic searching for the lost fleet of Estkri (now Agona) and the Ahkam fleet which started to mobilize only a day after the death of the juvenile Ahkam.

Rolled 42, 10, 62 = 114 (3d100)

rolling just for the hell of it

Also we should really see if we can get some drawfags up in here or get someone to request stuff on the drawthread

Also, can we suggest anything when it comes to equipment or research ideas? Cause I have idea for antiorbital weapon based on a giant necroflayer
>>
what in the hell is this quest

op sounds funky
in a good way
>>
>>45083556
A good civ quest
>>
>>45083556
Undead sci-fi civ in space. Lots of literal gods and space battles and magic powers. Think HQQ but with the Hive from Destiny instead of the Formics from Enders Game

MC is a Lich that was imprisoned then released like the ancient evil he literally is. This thread was special in that it followed his followers instead of the lich himself. Give the archive a read you might like it
>>
>>45083358
Fuck, totally missed the thread. Great one though.

>Y

So did the Stonestar get some good lessons from watching us take this placE?
>>
>>45083556
A civ quest about an ancient and powerful lich building an instellar empire with the backing of his absurdly deadly undead creations as well as his allies the voidknights, a literal volcano, and a race of spacefaring plant people. OP's the cool kind of funky.
>>
>>45083556
One of HQQ successors

Another was spore quest but that ended a long time ago
>>
>>45083793
>spore quest
Anon, please... don't remind me.
>tfw hive queen is kill
There is no escape from this hell.
>>
>>45083850
Eh it was good crop of quests at the same time

Now it really calmed down and most seem boring in comparison
>>
>>45083850
They replied to GraveQM on twitter recently so quest may reanimate.

DASQ and HQQ crossover when?
>>
>>45083358
