You are a Magical Girl, and you appear to be contemplating suicide.

Not any kind that you've tried before, obviously. Not that beautiful lie of passing peacefully and painlessly into the dark, dreamless ether with a belly full of painkillers and whiskey - a lie you had to find out the gut-wrenching, acid-retching, vomit-coated truth about, as your own magically-enhanced physiology somehow seemed to catch wind of your intentions and forced your stomach to pump itself out, all over your apartment floor. Those blessed, ignorant days when you were too drunk to remember that you have to crush your soul gem into powder in order to put yourself out of your own stinking misery.

Not the kind with you having your own gun for dinner either, a death you've quietly found to be nose-scrunchingly distasteful despite having come close to doing it yourself more than a handful of times. Distasteful not because of the obvious mess it'll make, but how you've always considered it the most flagrant display of indignity one could ever do to one's own gun. To eat your own gun after years of forcing other people to choke on it - you might as well start using the thing as a fucking hammer for your soul gem instead. It'll be much less shameful than being found in the cold dead grip of someone who couldn't even off herself properly.

No, this kind of self-termination is the sort only Kharn would dream of: the blaze of glory suicide. To get your ticket violently punched while kicking the biggest, meanest beehive you could ever find, and this one is the fucking Empire State Building of beehives.

The fact that you're rescuing someone from said beehive certainly adds a layer of heroism to it, but it does little to change the fact that you are about to get royally skullfucked by zombie ninja bees from outer space, with nuclear-powered stingers the size of combat knives.

The First Officio. The most powerful group of Magical Girls in the world, where Warmasters plucked from their own Officios end up to undergo...further training. Training that apparently turned them from the stellar Magical Girls that they already are, being Warmasters and everything, and into something that could conceivably solo a Walpurgisnacht-level Witch on their own - that is, if they could be spared from their offworld assignment, where they fought Walpurgisnacht-level witches on a daily basis. Preventing these space-borne monsters from making planetfall en-masse as they spawn from the gigantic Grief Seed hiding behind the moon.

Or at least, that's the official story. You have your own suspicions about the First, just like everyone else. One of the most popular being that they're simply the First Incubator's nuclear option in case one of the Officios underneath him stepped out of line and needed purging, down to the last girl. Nothing like the clumsy, protracted murder that Kharn perpetrated on the Third - a purge by the First would be quick, clean, and merciless. There wouldn't be anything left of the unfortunate Officio to bury, much less remember its failures by.

...That's a thing, you find yourself mulling over as you make your way to your vault. Your guard detail thankfully absent, having been diverted somewhere else by your own Incubator.

Kyuubey did tell you about that being the Ninth Officio's eventual fate if you do try to spring Mami out of there, not that it needed to be said. It won't just be you being hunted down - the rest of the Ninth will suffer the sanction of the First, too, and you're not that stupid to not be able to imagine how that'll go.

>>
>>45108830
This is thread 301. I guess you're just jumping in for the first time.
>>
>>45108821

Christ. It's come down to this, then, hasn't it? Being made to decide on whether to let one of the few people you wholeheartedly and completely trust suffer execution - or to condemn your Officio, more than a thousand Magical Girls foolish enough to look to you for leadership - to a cleansing purge so thorough their families would probably be included in the ritual genocide.

There's a third choice, though, you remember as the vault doors clank open and then slide closed behind you. A third choice that Kyuubey himself seemed to hesitate in suggesting. One that would involve you taking on the role that you were unceremoniously shoved into a Silent Room to prevent yourself in taking it in the first place. The reason why Malal had embedded memory-eradicating failsafes in the liquor-pickled slush you call your brain, to stop you from remembering.

It's a valid option, of course. One that could possibly take all the heat away from the Ninth Officio, especially if you play your part hard enough. Hell, you play up things just enough and you'll get EVERYONE'S attention, with every single Officio combing the earth just to hunt you down. Which isn't all that bad of an exchange, considering the tradeoff.

Just that - you're not sure if you actually want to own the goddamn wings and the dress and everything else that much. You don't know if you want to be known by that kind of image, when you finally get your fifteen minutes of fame.

...

...This is fucked. You're not supposed to be the one deciding all this, you grumble to yourself as you look down on your collected Golden Weapons. Each one glistening in its custom foam inset, or glowing from its rack. The latest addition, a golden hequin staff still marked with Oriko's - or Ahriman's - blood - noisily crackling with pent-up energy, intermittently rattling against the metal loops holding it in place.

[2/3]
>>
>>45108859

You shouldn't be the person whose decision has the life of more than a thousand magical girls hinging on it. And you're not even going to think about that whole world-destroying stuff that's been getting spat at your direction with increasing frequency.

Speaking of those decisions, though...what the fuck do you do with these things?

You can certainly bring them all along with you. Even if you change your mind about causing a ruckus up in the moon, having your collection within Inventory reach isn't something to sneeze at, especially when it comes down to the wire.

But then - and you hate to even consider the scenario - your own Officio will be left without these as a last-ditch defense option, in case the First does go full retard. It's just as suicidal as you rescuing the blonde from certain death, but at least someone - anyone - using them could hold the First off long enough for an evacuation. Hell, they may even take down a few with them.

...

[]Start clearing out your vault into your Inventory.
[]Take a choice few. No need to take them all.
[]Just take one along with you.
[]Leave them all. Save your goodbyes.
>>
There is a fourth choice that we should consider:

Use the Dolls to lure one of the Walpurgisnacht-class Witches to strike at the Moon Base itself, then have them put Mami in the platypus suit and whisk her away in the confusion and sudden explosive decompression.

And then we can be all "Hey, it wasn't me. I was standing right next to you when the Witch attacked, remember?"
>>

>[]Take a choice few. No need to take them all.

Gun and bangles. Gun because it's ours, bangles because we promised to take care of them. The Axes can be bribed with Slaughter and the sword gives a shit about the people. The staff is fuck ING trouble and we should hide it somewhere.

The staff likely contains Yuma, who's probably trying to tell us something important. She might be able to help with this plan.

We STILL haven't checked that, since Ahriman self-destructed her soul and the next most likely candidate to inhabit the Staff is Yuma.

Let´s be honest: The First posses Golden Weapons without a doubt. Also they are like 1000000000 times more powerful than our girls. If they want to fuck the 9th, they will do it without much trouble. We have better chances of achieving this if we go full Stan and have all of them with us

By which point it'll be too late to actually do anything with that knowledge.

Assuming that we're even taking a rocket to the Moon Base instead of using the teleporter in the basement operated by the Culexus we have on loan.

Your assumption we'll get to talk is a pretty bad one, anon.
>>
>>45108903
I doubt that will work. Decu stated in ask.fm that the WPN-class witches are not at full power when they emerge from the Grief Seed of Pinky, wich gives The First an important advantage. Also, most likely the witch won´t make it to The Moon because The First will intercept it before it can. So this plan has no options to be viable

We can ask if there's anything that can be done to cause more Witches to form than normal, forcing the First to react, either by unfreezing their reserves or forcing some of the ones attending the execution to be deployed.
>>
So Chiaki doesn't suspect it, but its pretty obvious this whole "execution" of Mami is to lure Chiaki out of the 9th all the way to the moon. We're gonna be walking into a trap, and Mami's the bait.
>>
>>45109165
Mmmmm... well, maybe. But, that probably would require the cooperation of Pinky to work (and we all know that she is an unstable ally, to say it in a soft tone). Even if she agrees, there is a very high probability that she will release a fuckton of WPN-class witches only to laugh at us, and let´s not forget that The First is neccesary for the protection of the world: without them, this ultra-powerful witches will have free tickets to arrive at the planet, and by pure power and numeric force they will destroy the world. So, as much as I would love to burn The First to ashes, we have to thing in long-scale terms

Clearing out the vault
>>
>>45108964 >>45108982 >>45109044 >>45109077

You glare at your collection of Golden Weapons - the volatile, weaponized fragments of a fallen Goddess' soul - before shaking your head in disbelief as you empty your vault into your Inventory. Summoning your Shield back onto your arm with a snap of air pressure and snarling gears, and then proceeding to manhandle each weapon into the pocket of static reality that the strange time-stopping device has always allowed you to access.

What the absolute FUCK were you thinking? You're going into the fucking belly of the beast here - no matter what you decide to do up there on the moon, you need to be prepared, and in that kind of space where the potential hostiles can probably bend reality over a barrel and rape it without breaking a sweat, you'll need every edge you can get.

But more than that - one of the reasons you started collecting these things was to make sure no one else fucks themselves over by wielding them. For you to even consider letting someone else use them, even in that kind of emergency...no. Just no. There are desperate measures, and then there are measures that go past desperate and into the realm of pure bloody-minded insanity.

So, all they go into your Inventory. Muramasa being the first, because it's the one you've always secretly despised, even if Kirika had been cooperative the last few times you used it.

Then the bangles, which warmed up in an almost affectionate kind of way the moment you touched them, reminding you of a cute white-haired girl, her tanned features hidden in the shadow of her voluminous hood.

After those, the chainaxes - the heavy, brutish, savagely-toothed things that your predecessor had wielded with a grace that you know you'll never be able to replicate.

[1/2]
>>
>>45109978

Then the staff - the latest addition to your collection. Still sparking, still shaking in its rack. You give it the barest flicker of attention before tossing it into your Inventory. Even without touching it you know the spirit inside wants to talk - which you'll indulge, but not right now. Not when you have other things to worry about.

Then, finally, your gun. The Desert Eagle, the very first Golden Weapon you acquired. Where every other weapon had been taken from its previous user, this one was given to you, with the pink-haired demon grinning as she shot you in the head with it. All to wake you up from a Callidus illusion, of course, one that would have seen your client raped in front of the Internet had you been a moment slower.

...Hnh. Strange, you murmur to yourself as you hold the blocky, oversized handcannon in your hand. The weapon feeling cold and dead in your grip, as opposed to the usual warmth that blossomed from the handle outwards the moment you touched it. As if something vital inside the weapon had died - or, less morbidly, had stopped recognizing you as its owner.

...

What do you do?

We know that the Staff wants to talk, that they usually help us when we actually listen to what they're saying, and then we casually throw her into stasis.

But this is the Desert Eagle. YOUR Desert Eagle. Your gun. Golden Weapon or not, it's been a reliable, dependable weapon ever since you started using it, and it's never let you down since, even with the whole...being a vessel of the souls of your past incarnations or some shit like that. It's gaudy, it's oversized, it shoots and hits like a fucking battleship cannon - but it's yours. And up to now it's never behaved this way, and that's enough to worry you.

You close your eyes and try to contact the three spirits residing inside your Golden Eagle. Slowing your breathing and willing yourself calm to be able to allow yourself to get pulled into communion with your past selves.

You open your eyes a moment later, and see the truth. Your brow furrowing in confusion at what you see.

The mirrors are empty. All of them, not just the fourth. The mirrors where Dildoes, Braids and Murderface would be staring at you from, each one smirking, smiling and glowering in turn - all empty. Not even reflecting anything, even when you step closer to them.

"They're gone," A voice coming from your right pipes up, and you turn to see yourself in the fourth mirror. ...No, not quite yourself, but a younger, healthier-looking you. With the bobcut and everything, but also a Mitakihara Middle School uniform instead of your costume. "Gone, and probably not coming back until they feel like it. Which could be a very long time, so I wouldn't hold my breath."

I only just started reading today's thread, so I don't know exactly where we are or what we're doing at this point in time yet, but I want to suggest something now at the earliest point I can.

If Pinky has taken up residence in Midori, or is planning to, she might no longer be inhabiting our time stop, so that might be on the table as a tool for breaking Mami out.
>>
>>45110986
Seeing how this one spiraled out of control in terms of work and how his other proposed quest has been known for like 12 months now without materializing I'm not sure Decu will find it in him to start another one.

...What? But why? Despite your cold surprise at seeing yourself in the fourth mirror - a mirror that had always been empty ever since you started talking to the spirits inside your gun - the disturbing shock of not having the three stooges to talk to is enough to overpower that. Why now?

"Well, I'll give you exactly one guess." Your younger self grins, white perfect teeth on show. "Come on. Show me we haven't killed off all our brain cells with alcohol, Chiaki. Why would our previous selves abandon us when we need them the most?"

How do you react?

[]Because they're assholes.
[]Because they think I fucked them over.
[]Because you showed up and told them to fuck off.
>>
>>45110995
We can't depend on Time Stop when the enemy we're facing has access to both Magical Girl and Witch powers.

We saw with Kirika that someone else who has Time powers can still operate within our Time Stop, so we need to know if any of the First have Time powers by looking them up in the Magical Girl Registry (mostly likely some of them do).

>without losing quality

That's the argument point, though.

You have some who feel that it's just as good as when it started. You have some who feel that the quality's still high, but the story's been dragged out for too long and/or started collapsing under its own weight. You have some who feel that the (number of) conspiracies, background activity, shadowruns, etc have made the story too difficult to follow. And so on and so on.
>>
>>45110961
>without losing quality
>without losing quality
>without losing quality

Early on, it might have passed for noir if you squinted, and the freewheeling "let's throw everything in because fuck it" approach to blatantly ripping off characters and stuff was tons of fun.

But it's become big and unwieldy, with characters and writeups and worldbuilding encrusted onto it like barnacles on a whaling ship. I liked the concept of magical girl officios as magical guns-for-hire for, answering the world's call for wetwork. It was an interesting spin on the concept.

But now we're bogged down in some sort of big epic fantasy thing to save or destroy the world.

It's like I booted up Max Panye, and it turned into a Bioware RPG with a cynical narrator.

Checking the thread where we fought Kirika, we there was definite interference with our Time Stop.

>The shield on your arm - the device that stops time itself around you - is behaving strangely. It's clicking, as always, and you feel it grow warmer with each passing second - but there's something strange in the way it clicks. Like the gears are catching against something, unable to function.

That was pretty much unavoidable. With Chiaki being an Akemi Homura clone and Pinky being crazy Madoka, space-time ripping, universe altering shenanigans were to be expected eventually.

Just in advance, how many of you want to risk killing everyone to save the Mami. Cause as much as I like her, she had a good reason to try to kill us, even though she now knows better, she's fucked. This is most likely a trap where they try to kill us/take our golden weapons.
Saving Mami is something we should do because it will allow us to garner support from the MGs in other offificios and therefore increase our chances to win the inevitable war.

If it turns out that it's not a trap we should let Mami die and avoid any possibility of Malals vision coming true.

You spit out the blindingly obvious at the fourth mirror. Of course you know why they left - you just didn't think they'd actually do it. Even Braids - and you remember her as someone who stuck around even when the other two had begun acting up after your sudden transformation.

"Yes, it's always disappointing when people do that, don't they?" Your younger self shakes her head mournfully, soft unchapped lips curling into a frown. "She - by that I mean Braids - put up quite the fight, but the other two dragged her away. Said they didn't want to involve themselves with someone who clearly had other ideas - ideas different from what had already been agreed on. You know, the whole not-actually-turning-into-the-Devil kinda idea."

YOu didn't fucking turn! You snap at the mirror reflecting your unspoiled, unscarred self right back at you, a mockery of everything you've put yourself through and at the same time a melancholic reminder of who you once where. You're still...you're still yourself! Even with the fucking wings, and the goddamn dress, and everything else, nothing's changed--

"Really? Can you truly and honestly say that?" Your reflection cuts you off, in a voice unmarred by whiskey or cigarette smoke, with words said from a throat unscarred from too much coughing and retching acid. "Look at me. Look at yourself, Chiaki, and tell me nothing's changed with a straight face. Let's see if you can manage that at least."

You glare at her, and repeat yourself, word for word. Word fucking perfect. Forcing yourself not to brandish your gun or shoot the mirror for emphasis, because really, what good would that do for anyone?

It'd make you feel better, sure, but that's beside the point, isn't it?

[1/2]
>>
>>45112740

"...Well. Alright, then." Your younger self grins nervously, seemingly caught off-guard for the first time. "Either you're woefully ignorant or just that deluded, but you seem convinced that nothing's changed. Hold on to that." She pauses for a moment, as if listening for something, but shakes her head and resumes speaking. "Still, as you can see, they're convinced that you've screwed the pooch somehow, and decided to stop helping us."

Yeah, you can see that. So what do you do, then, to get them back? How do you get your past selves to return and keep doing the three stooges thing?

Your reflection in the mirror shrugs. "Not really sure on that point. I mean, they're free to come and go whenever they want, this gun is kind of the receptacle of all your previous incarnations. Just that they were the most prominent, seeing as they each represent a significant point in time in the life of Akemi Homura - or in this case, Chiaki Matsuda." She points to herself. "I guess you're just stuck with me until they decide it's worth coming back."

...Great. Fantastic.

Your younger self frowns deeply. "Fuck you. You think this is fun for me? You think I asked for this? I'm not even supposed to be in here, fuckface! If you didn't hand off your goddamn soul gem to that blonde bitch, I'd still be--"

She stops in mid-sentence, her crash so abrupt that you look up at her in alarm - but all you see is your reflection letting out a sigh, her shoulders drooping as she presses her forehead against the mirror's surface.

"...Sorry. This...self-loathing thing's not easy to deal with." There's a thud as your reflection gives the glass seperating the both of you a kick. "How in the world do you deal with this? You hate yourself as much as we hate carrots, for fuck's sake. Maybe even more than that. What did we ever do to us? Do we piss on our cornflakes every morning? Do we do that?"

Heh. Cigarettes and whiskey, mostly, you tell her.

[2/3]
>>
>>45112764

"Right. Well. That explains it. Somewhat." The raven-haired girl wearing your unscarred features smiles. "Anyway, alright, we're a bit short-staffed at the moment, so all you get is me. And normally we'd have to really get to know each other for us to help each other better, but seeing as these are special circumstances let's cut through that red tape." She grins. "Any time you think someone's full of shit - and it doesn't take a Culexus to see that you have lots of walking, talking sackfuls of the stuff in your near future - I'll tell you if they are."

What, like a truth detector?

"Exactly like a truth detector." She nods, proudly. "And I know my shit when it comes to that, so you can trust my analysis a hundred percent. Just don't have me use them on everything you hear - it's going to be very obvious to them that you think they're full of shit, and you don't want that to happen - but for the really important bits, where you want to make sure they're on the level? I can check that for you."

Yeah? That sounds...well, handy. Should be good to know if someone's deliberately jerking you around, or what.

How's she going to do that, though? Reading their minds or what?

"Oh, no, I can't do any of that. It's more of just analyzing what they're saying, body language, that kind of thing - AND then cross-referencing their statements with the patterns and consistencies I've discovered throughout other timelines." She taps her temple with a finger. "Remember all those migraines you keep having? That's your brain trying to keep up with ten thousand years' worth of hoarded information and memories. With me, I can cross-check what someone's saying with what I can dig up about them, and tell you if they're bullshitting you based on what I find."

Now that sounds REALLY handy.

[3/4]
>>
>>45112784

"Yeah? Well, don't break out the champagne just yet. Remember I'm not omniscient, and what I dig up may not always apply to what's happening now." Your younger self smiles sheepishly. "This timeline's pretty janky in some spots and twisty in others, and that's gonna affect my analysis some, but the big picture's still the same, so you can trust me. Maybe...ninety-eight percent? Something like that."

...Alright. You'll take it. Better than nothing.

"Riiight." She bites her lip as she looks down at you, before nodding. "Just...in the interest of clarity, I suppose? Don't ask me to verify anything you might not want verified. Okay? There's a reason why some psychologists kill themselves, you know."

A fragment called "RibbonHomu". PMMM Homura with the ribbon, and golden wings. Not the same as this one

Yeah, her outburst made me consider the possibility that we really ARE Homucifer right now, just not aware of the fact that we're trying to emulate Chiaki.

Ribbon Homura. And the others left us because they fear that we became Homucifer. This is a Chiaki fragment, probably the one Midori was talking with earlier.

But was she was a homu fragment, right? That proves that different homus may have different agendas, and they may be trouble.

If you kill all the homus and then yourself, does it count as a murder-suicide, or just a suicide?

About RibbonHomu was confirmed that she was the fragment that wanted to kill herself (all the Homuras). So she is very dangerous. Neither this fragment or us are RibbonHomu

The cute schoolgirl wearing your face and trademark haircut smiles at you, a small, melancholic thing made rancid with pity. "I was hoping that wouldn't be the first thing you'd have me verify." She reaches up to adjust her glasses, the lenses briefly becoming opaque, hiding her glowing purple eyes from view. "Miss Valnikov Kharn said this to you, right? Earlier during the day?"

You nod to confirm this. A moment later, she lets out a sigh. "Do you really want to know? Because I can just discard this verification before it finishes if you change your mind--"

A glare is all it takes for her to shut up, and it's only after a few more moments that she nods. "Sorry. Had to backtrace everything, seeing as it was sometime before. But...well, I warned you." Your younger self shrugs, before taking off her glasses and folding them neatly in front of her.

"Miss Valnikov Kharn was telling the truth."

...Like a burning green crack through your brain. Searing through the lies, stabbing right into your soul.

So Mami...Mami really did--

Nnh.

"I'm sorry." Your younger self murmurs, hanging her head. "You asked. I told you. I'm sorry."

Silence. Then--

"Is there anything else you want me to check?"

How do you react?

Not really, no.
We make mistakes that get people killed, and instead of learning from them to not do it again, we blame others for not telling us things (when they were trying, but we ignored them) and just wallow in our own self-pity surrounded by cigarettes, whiskey, and painkillers.

>>
>>45114702
And? We got bitching tiers of power out of it and can now actually threaten incubators with permanent death at will. And the bad stuff was what, exactly? Besides Mami throwing a retared hissyfit and almost getting Midori killed, which cannot be regarded as our fault in any way?
>>
>>45114702
>when she claimed to know the truth
Wasn't everything she told us, the same things that the Three Stooges, Malal's journal entries, Pinky, Kharn, and QB had told us?

Like, she didn't even give us any new information?
>>
>>45114783
>can now actually threaten incubators with permanent death at will
Only when we give up control and let TTO control us.

>the bad stuff was what, exactly
Messing up the plan that Godoka had put in place by convincing Pinky to create the Golden Weapons, losing the support of our previous incarnations, and putting all of our friends in more danger than ever?
>>
>>45114745
You forgot how many times different people noticed how different we are now. Even Sayaka warmed up for us. And we seem to have trust in Coobie too, whether it's a good news or bad.
>>
>>45114783
The bad stuff is that everyone one of our friends is incredibly suspicious of us, Mami lost it and killed Midori, losing the Stooges, and actually using the powers would be a death sentence for us or anyone close to us.

That'll be enough for now, you tell her. You doubt you can take much more of this in one sitting.

Thanks, Smartass.

"Yeah? Well, you're WELCOME, you walking PR shitsto--" Your younger self is poised to spit venom back at you, when she realizes something. "...Wait. That's...that's my nickname? Smartass? Like...the others?"

Yeah. Kinda fits, doesn't it?

"It...I guess it does. It's crass, but not like Dildoes is an exemplar of subtlety." She smiles, before tapping her temple with a finger again. "Right, you must be busy. Just remember, if you want me to check for bullshit, I'm here."

Right. You'll remember.

...Something about what she said, though. About what she'd still be, if you hadn't handed off your Soul Gem to Ahriman.

"I...I wasn't really sure what I was getting at, myself." She shrugs. "Maybe...oblivious, I guess? Someone who didn't need to take all of this so seriously?" She taps the mirror seperating the both of you with a knuckle. "I don't know. I remember being a balljointed doll way back then, if it makes any sense."

A what?

"Yeah, crazy, huh?" Smartass grins at you. "Must be something before all of this, though. Like a hobby or something. I wouldn't put it past us, we've always been into some heavy nerd shit before we got into this whole business of...obsessing over other girls we can't save."

You glance down at yourself, at your unkempt hospital gown-wearing self, before nodding.

Yeah. You can see that.

"Just take it easy, okay?" Your younger self calls as the dark world around you begins to slowly break apart, giving way to the harsh light of the vault. "And be sure not to forget, whatever you do!"

What? Forget what? What is she talking about?

"Green hair is the danger!"

[1/2]
>>
>>45114895
You blink at this warning, before finding yourself standing once more inside your vault. Freezing your half-naked ass off in its climate-controlled air, the Desert Eagle in your hands rimed with hoarfrost. You brush these flakes away and stuff the gun back into your Shield, before sending the device itself away.

...Right. Anyway. That's the Golden Weapons dealt with, at least for now.

What do you do?

Information you deem critical isn't necessarily so. What do we have to gain from talking to others at this point? The video logs would prove slightly useful, but it wouldn't give as a motivation. Talking to everyone else? Their opinions on things we already So it's a waste of time. At this point, the best option is to move forward and talk to Mami herself.

You're going to say it's a waste of time to find out what the Staff is going to tell us? You have some insider knowledge that confirms that we don't need to talk with anyone?
>>
>>45116002

No, this does potentially sound useful, but it didn't come up in a choice from Decu yet. So it's highly likely that it's irrelevant and people are obsessing over nothing. If it's important it'll come up.

Relax, anon. Really.
>>
>>45116058
Chill.
The Staff is not the only golden weapon we have. If it starts acting up we can put it away.
I do think we should talk with other people, possibly including the Staff, but yelling at hat-chan doesn't help anyone.
>>
>>45116002
Seeing as it had some pretty powerful abilities that were thought impossible, some of which we may be able to tap into, I'd think it would be useful to know what it can and can't do to help us with snatching Mami and fooling the First.

Many times in the quest we have chosen options not presented by Decu that proven to be useful. I believe that we are facing the potential biggest threat in the quest, so every piece of info is useful, and more in the case of a GW that we don´t know anything about

Like how giving Mami a memory dump so that she realizes that her betrayal was a mistake wasn't offered until after three rounds of write-ins? And even then only after it couldn't save Midori?

Or how the choice to ignore the obvious Tower and instead follow the Soul Gem trail.
Since that was a write-in, that was irrelevant too, wasn't it.

>Many times in the quest we have chosen options not presented by Decu that proven to be useful.

If you run a statistic of option presented vs written in that have lead to a net positive gain in useful information, maybe. Otherwise, nah. Presented options vastly outnumber written in options so you're likely wrong here. I just want to play the quest, not run around talking with everyone for ten threads while anon works through every hunch.

If it's useful, I'll ask, like finding the new Stooge. If it feels superfluous, I'll ignore it and move to the next scene. Really, anon. If you want to turn over every stone for the next couple of threads that's fine, but I'd rather not use my vote to support that myself.
>>
>>45116148
>implying
Y'know, I don't recall Midori checking whether that tower was a ruse to lure the Homus into a trap was given as a choice until some anon mentioned it either.
>>
>>45116336
>Like how giving Mami a memory dump so that she realizes that her betrayal was a mistake wasn't offered until after three rounds of write-ins?

Sounds like three rounds of write-ins ran around in circles until Decu finally got exasperated with everyone and presented a way out. My memories of those threads are fuzzy however so I can't dispute these points.
>>
>>45116440
It was a write-in that would have stopped the fight altogether, but anons kept wanting to fight Mami instead.
So it was three rounds of getting Tiny Pete shot, not getting anything done except wrestle with Mami without any conclusive winner, and being told at the end that yes, the memory dump did make Mami see she was wrong and could have just stopped the fight instead of getting Midori shot.
>>
>>45116385
Not the anon you're arguing with, but you should really leave namefaggotry for quest management purposes. Now, instead of nameless shitposting, we have direct attacks at you. Like you're some kind of VIP player, whose decisions count as more than an actuall number of votes.
>>

I still think this shouldn't have worked.
She spend years planning this stuff and then some random girl she barely knows and who has illsuion powers uses magic to show her some pictures with sound and she immediately drops her plans.
>>
>>45116527

Then it was a good write-in that got ignored, and not a "let's talk to everyone and get their feelings" choice, like I'm arguing against.

>>45116549

Oh, that's alright. I don't mind the arguments. I think it's better if they know they're arguing with me, rather than letting this fall into an anonymous name calling, everyone vs everyone melee.

My vote is still only one vote, anon. You can look them up in the thread. They all have my name on them. I even did a fancy little addendum when I thought that Smartass was hiding information that would have been useful. Crazy that!
>>
>>45116624
>Then it was a good write-in that got ignored, and not a "let's talk to everyone and get their feelings" choice, like I'm arguing against

No, Hat-Chan. We are discussing the usefulness of talking with the Staff spirit, not with everyone.
No one here wants to talk with EVERY character to know about EVERYTHING. We want info about the staff because IS an important piece of what might come in the near future.
The write-in options can turn around completely a situation. The example of Mami´s memory dump is not the best example, because it was one anon who came up with the idea, not something that was ignored during the voting period. And you see what happened with the Tower in Regalia.
You seem to consider the options outside "Decu options" as not relevant or worthless, wich is not the case
>>
>>45116624
>"let's talk to everyone and get their feelings"
Except it's talking with people we need to talk to in order to get the logistics of this plan together. Things we very well likely may not have had time to do, or only a few of the things we needed to do, if we had simply gone straight to the next scene.

Misaka so that we can get Tiny Pete's Recorder and find out what happened inside Regalia in-character as well as what happened after Midori got shot.

Wendy, to find out her part in this, get her away from the Church (which she had been trying to do until they roped her back in after the incident in Regalia), and see if she can speak with Mami so that we can actually coordinate this rescue.

Talk with the Dolls into getting a group of invisible operatives to the Moon and maybe use their powers to enter and leave a Silent Room with Mami.

Talk with the Staff on what it can bring to the table, as well as if it has any warnings to give us. Since not talking with Kirika and getting her cooperation would have made the Akashic Realm mission even harder.

Talking with Yuu would have been the only one to get her feelings, but we kind of needed to do that since she was damaged and needed recuperation time. Now would have been a great time to learn if she's at 100% or is still regenerating, instead of in the middle of a fight with the First.

Spanishfaggot here. Hat-Chan, as someone who was there, I can assure you is that is not a good idea

>No, Hat-Chan. We are discussing the usefulness of talking with the Staff spirit, not with everyone.

It's useful. I already agreed to that. The option presented was "check up on others or "move to the next scene". I chose to move to the next scene. So, what's the problem? If it's important, it'll come up.

>>45116832

That doesn't sound so bad. Maybe extremely time consuming, but you laid out a lot of useful options there. My concern is that if Decu doesn't give a nod towards it, it just feels like planning for scenarios that are probably not relevant or planned for to begin with so all that running around and talking will just end up with Vintage porting down to drag us up there for taking too long or something.

>>45116850

You need thicker skin, hon.

>Misaka so that we can get Tiny Pete's Recorder and find out what happened inside Regalia in-character as well as what happened after Midori got shot.
Seeing Misaka just to give her her Murderface dose is a good idea, but going over Tiny Pete's data is superfluous. We have confirmation of what happened (Mami tried to kill us, Midori intervened, Midori ended up going Fulll Vessel).

>Wendy, to find out her part in this, get her away from the Church (which she had been trying to do until they roped her back in after the incident in Regalia), and see if she can speak with Mami so that we can actually coordinate this rescue.
We don't have any evidence that Wendy wants to get away from the church (she even joined to keep an eye on her friend, who also remains a member with no intention of leaving). A phone call to get her to try and contact Mami would be good, but we're too short on time to go chasing her down to do so in person.

>Talk with the Dolls into getting a group of invisible operatives to the Moon and maybe use their powers to enter and leave a Silent Room with Mami.
This is an important thing to do.

>Talk with the Staff on what it can bring to the table, as well as if it has any warnings to give us. Since not talking with Kirika and getting her cooperation would have made the Akashic Realm mission even harder.
"Maybe the staff will help? Maybe Ahriman will suddenly not try and dick us over for like the third time already?" is a wild-goose-chase timewaster.

>Talking with Yuu would have been the only one to get her feelings, but we kind of needed to do that since she was damaged and needed recuperation time. Now would have been a great time to learn if she's at 100% or is still regenerating, instead of in the middle of a fight with the First.
This can be done on-the-fly. We need a quick good-to-go/not-good-to-go, but Yuu will not have anything to contribute to planning assaults on the First. She was never a member of the First.

mgnq in a nutshell
>Vintage
Decu once hahaha'd me when I mentioned Vintage, so I'm going to assume that she's planning something and posting write-ins to find that out. You can't stop me.

>>45117068
>"Maybe the staff will help? Maybe Ahriman will suddenly not try and dick us over for like the third time already?" is a wild-goose-chase timewaster.
Is there a chance of Yuma being still alive and kicking inside the staff?
>>
>>45117010
>If it's important, it'll come up.
Not in time for us to stop it or do anything about it. Really, can you name a single time where ignoring preparation and instead running straight in with the faith that we'll get a choice to prevent something bad from happening before its too late has actually happened?

>>45117068
Finding out what happened in Regalia can tell show Chiaki why Mami did what she did (because Mami told Midori), and that it was a setup orchestrated by the Golden Musket and someone who was feeding lies to Mami, either TTO or Pinky.

>We don't have any evidence that Wendy wants to get away from the church
That was in a write-up written by Wendy. Granted, with the uncertain canonicity now, you may be right.

>Maybe Ahriman will suddenly not try and dick us over for like the third time already?
Ahriman is dead and not in the Staff. We know this because we saw Ahriman's soul self-destruct AND what remained get eaten by Pinky.
So, in-character, we don't know who is in the Staff. Out-of-character, there is very high confidence that it's Yuma.

>Yuu will not have anything to contribute to planning assaults on the First.
She personally fought one of the members of the First, so we can get first-hand knowledge of at least one active member that's going to be there.
>>
>>45117068
At least we need to confirm who is in the staff in the first place.
If it's Yuma, cool. If it's Ahriman then confirming that early helps us be on our guard in case she wants to screw us over again.
>>

>Finding out what happened in Regalia can tell show Chiaki why Mami did what she did (because Mami told Midori), and that it was a setup orchestrated by the Golden Musket and someone who was feeding lies to Mami, either TTO or Pinky.
Or the warmaster of the first, the famous seer who Mami supposedly tried to murder.

Pretty good chance, since Decu said "There's a pretty good chance!" when asked if Yuma was now in the Staff.

Seriously, how many times can we fall for the same tricks?

A lot.
