You decide to catch up with everyone first before making any further plans. Let them know you're still alive and everything.

It takes you the majority of the day itself, but it's...productive. Without the security detail snapping at your heels and barking at every move you make, you actually manage to talk to everyone who you think actually gave a rat's ass on whether or not you managed to avoid being worm food.

And to your continuing surprise, said group is actually bigger than you thought, and nearly all of them were more than thrilled at the news - rather than being disappointed like you were expecting.

Misaka, of course - grease-stained, optimistic, white-knuckled Misaka with her inexplicable fixation on having you as her surrogate big sister - was happy to see you. Really happy. Happy enough that she even stopped working on Tiny Pete - the huge armored bastard looking even bigger and meaner than ever before, with one arm completely given over to a huge cannon-looking thing with blue plasma coils - to knock you flat on your ass with a running hug-tackle.
>>
>>45252560

After the earful you got from her for making her worry again (delivered as soon as she managed to stop crying long enough), she eagerly showed you how Tiny Pete's repairs were shaping up. Most of the Russian's excited, caffeine-charged technobabble went over your head, even with Fourth Officio representative Barbara to help clarify things - but from what you see, Misaka has taken the big guy's defeat very seriously and had taken it upon herself to build him better than before. Enough that his entire frame was redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up, with a completely new pattern that Misaka proudly called 'Contemptor'.

The others that you caught up with were less overt with their displays of relief, but still felt genuine, at least from where you were standing at the time. Kumatora, Enishi, even Heartcatch Squad - everyone you've encountered during your admittedly short tour of duty as Warmaster, they all seemed happy that you made it out of the Silent Room alive. They'd apparently feared the worst, even with Kyuubey's - and Mami's - reassurances. They also offered their well-meaning condolences and prayers for Midori's...condition, which you were grateful for enough, even if you had to remind them that she was still alive. Just comatose.

You tried to get in touch with Wendy, too, or at least was about to try when your Vindicare Rank Leader herself, Rea Ashford, stopped you. Apparently Kyuubey had her leading the short-lived investigation on just exactly what went down inside Silent Room Regalia - and just like Kyoko said, she'd been spirited away by the Church of the Golden Land as soon as first aid was applied.

[1/2]
>>
>>45252566

But a few days after the fact, when Rea went over to take Wendy's statement - she was told that the key members of the Church, along with Wendy herself, had left without a word or trace, simply leaving behind trusted staff to take care of things. Even their hideout, which Rea discovered to be some red-light district kind of place, was deserted and boarded up.

You wanted to be surprised at the news, but something told you that you should've expected something like that from the very beginning. Something that also whispered in your ear about how your ex had returned to you in very suspicious circumstances and had generally been - well, suspicious - since the very beginning. But you, with your sudden compulsion to start doing things right by everyone you've wronged in the past, had decided to ignore all those and give what you had another shot. To the point that you considered trying to make a threesome work.

+ But what do I know? + You imagine the voice cackling in your brain, giggling through blood-pinked teeth sharpened into points. + I'm just a crazy voice in your head, after all, Homura-chan. +

...No one could ever accuse you of not doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, but when was the last time you knew what the right or wrong thing was in the first place? Whatever was the truth of what happened, you don't have the time to worry about that now. Not with so much happening right now. Not with so much at stake - not only Mami, but the entire Officio you've come to know as your own.

[2/3]
>>
>>45252574

Anyway. Besides that, you also caught up properly with Kyoko, your best friend still looking a bit distressed about everything that's happened, but also quite improved from your being back in the world of the living, as evidenced by her seemingly catching up on nine days' worth of skipped meals at the cafeteria (where you found her in).

You were hoping to catch up with Sayaka too, but apparently she'll only be getting back the next day - which would be at the time of your trip to the fucking moon. So you stuck with the red-haired Eversor to keep her company, until she has to punch out and for you to limp back to your own recovery room.

What do you do now?

Wendy is Mamis' BDSM fuckslut, like about eighty thousand other sluts on the planet, and Mami had great but stupid ideas about how to fix Chiaki being Satan, that being getting Chiaki dead. But Mami needed an inside man in the Silent Roommate Room Regalia because silent room 2stronk. Since Wendy is her bitch and wears a ribbon of Mami around her neck, under her scarf, at all times, as a symbol of ownership, and it's still Mamis ribbon, with all the magic mumbo jumbo that entails, AND Midori trusts Wendy, she was sent in as a homing beacon of sorts that Mami managed to zipline at because of the ribbon. If Mami hadn't been a baka and Wendy hadn't been a whore of a traitor everything could have gone all right.

But they aren't, so it didn't.

All your theories are based on circumstances and no proof to support them. We have no confirmation of Wendy being allied with Mami. We have no confirmation of Mami using the ribbon as a beacon. We have no confirmation of Wendy running away because she doesn't want to face the consequences of her actions (there are many options for that that doesn't implie that she is a traitor). Until more info is added, you cannot prove any of your theories. And no, Decu's shadowruns are no legitimate proof at all. So until then, you should leave the door open to other options instead of focusing in only one explanation

After scrounging for some emergency alcohol in the depths of your Shield - your best efforts coming up with nothing more than a half-empty bottle of Kong - it's with a slow and limping gait that you make your way to Midori's recovery room instead of your own.

Mainly for two reasons - the first being that she'd have immediately done the same for you had you been in her place, without question, without even hesitation. Second - and this is the one you can't help but smirk at - is that it feels like it'd be less depressing to get the slightest bit wasted around your comatose girlfriend rather than on your own. And on the night that could potentially be your last night alive, at that. If things go completely apeshit.

One painstaking trek from the cafeteria to the sick bay later - stonily ignoring any and all offers from well-meaning staff and fresh recruits for a wheelchair, or even to be carried to where you wanted to go - and you finally reach Midori's room. Still quiet, still cold, and with some of the corridor lights turned down due to it being way after hours - just a bit funereal in its dimly-lit calm. Which...you don't really know how to feel about.

The floor is cold underneath your bare feet as you step into the room, the door closing behind you with a soft and gentle click. The half-empty bottle of warm Kong sloshing in your grip as as you approach the bedside of your once-conscious Callidus.

No change, you decide after a long while of scrutinizing her. Of hopefully examining her for any change or evidence thereof, like an obvious change in position of her hands or feet, or even a hitch in her breathing. Nothing. Exactly as you left her earlier.

Still asleep. Still comatose. Still dead to the world.

...She should be sitting up right now, asking if she can get you anything, or asking you if you're doing alright. She always seemed to wake up immediately if you so much as approached, as if having trained herself to sense your presence even when deeply asleep, to the point of snoring. You'd always thought to tell her to stop doing that, to just sleep and not interrupt her rest just because you're up and about - but you never got around to it.

Well, at least she's making up for all those times you accidentally woke her up now, right?

You chuckle at your own joke here, before gently reaching down to brush your fingertips across her cheek. Finding her skin as reassuringly warm and soft as you remember it.

You see, anon? Your "facts" doesn't prove anything at this point, yet you are so utterly convinced of what you think that I can't help but think that using your ass for thinking and taking the cock of your boyfriend at the same time cannot be good for the health. It's anon's fault Midori gets useless moeblobbed.
>>
>>45274993
No, it's Hatchan's fault she's still in the quest.
Like, goddamn, even Iori the generic love interest has more character than she does. Midori has character inverse to how fat she is.
>>
>>45275001
Actually it's anon's fault for latching onto her after the hotel (she was supposed to be a throwaway, as Deculture has said), and Deculture's for changing the script so that she survived Siberia arc. Hat-chan's only guilty of being a drone for her via art and that has less bearing on the quest than the waifufagging by anon.
>>
>>45275381
It's Hatchan's fault for being a drone and still voting for midroi-centric sentimental bullshit options, just like half the other people.
I want Deculture to just retcon half the quest, have Midroi shot in the silent room at the beginning and have Poochy save the day instead of her all along.
And then Poochy went back to his home planet.
>>
>>45275405
Listen, I disliked Midori before it was popular, too, but Hat-chan's just one vote and I think you're being angry at him because he's visible and makes a convenient target. Midori was the start of the waifufaggotry but at this point, face it, it's part of Chiaki's story that she's attached to her. Being upset about it now will not accomplish anything, so it'd be better to think of where things can go instead of where they've gone, okay, friend?

And she by far does not number among the things that have damaged the quest the most.
>>
>>45275471
>Midori was the start of the waifufaggotry
Oh how quickly Anon forgets the Iorifaggotry.
>>
>>45275498
Haven't forgotten at all but I'll try and clarify: it was when the waifufaggotry went from kind of a joke into yes this is a thing.
>>
>>45275471
And things can go anywhere, that's kind of the point of the entire quest thing. They can go and retroactively change the past if they want to, like that one time in Siberia when we fucked up so hard Decu just had to rewind.

Of course, Deculture's unwillingness to actually host the quest contributed the most. Maybe he's just sick of doing this and trying to hide it? I'd empathize on that point. It's been like four fucking years.

>>45275498
Lorryfaggotry never went as far as a shitty artist being maniacally obsessed over her, and neither did the entire quest take a nice several months long timeout to jack her off. If the Midorifags were as strong on the Lorry train as they were on the Midroi caboose, Chiaki would be too busy being Lorry's personal meido right now.

Describe the following character WITHOUT saying what they look like, what kind of costume they worse, or what their profession or role was.

Describe this character to your friends like they ain't never read the quest:

Chiaki Matsuda.
>>
>>45275508
Well, no, retcons are generally bad, and the whole quest thing should be about influencing where the story is going, not where it's gone. Deculture has issues that keep him from running as much as he'd like to, which I'm sure you can understand, and he definitely wants to see the quest concluded. And really, try and calm down about Hat, okay? It's really not a big deal and those kinds of attacks won't solve anything. When it comes to characters and relationships being jacked off at the expense of the quest there are worse things to be mad about than Midori, artgushing or not.
>>
>>45275622
>Deculture has issues that keep him from running as much as he'd like to
Does he?
I feel as if he's sometimes just bullshitting. Half of the reasons he puts forth are that "he doesn't feel well", and I get that. You have to be in the right mood for this kind of shit if you want others to enjoy it as well (though I doubt it half of us would even notice). But I feel that it isn't just about his mood and the weather and whatever else anymore. If he truly wanted the quest concluded, wouldn't he try to speed things along? Wouldn't he skimp on those long, monotone segments describing a character's inner thoughts, which would be blatantly obvious from just following the quest? Wouldn't he avoid some of the useless filler, like Chiaki drinking herself to unconsciousness, and just skip to the real meat?

>She has a bold, to-the-point, no fucking around attitude with most topics, yet is daring and takes a lot of risks when it comes to finding more about her own place in the world.
That's not true. Risks are almost never taken in this quest, and the general attitude is pretty much anything but 'no fucking around'.
>>
>>45275745
It sure hasn't been for a long time, has it?
And throwing your own gem at your mortal enemy isn't a risk? That's the only reasonable IC explanation to her character; she was tired of everyone's shit and just said whatever, give me the scoop, extra death, please.
>>

The quest has been composed of this from the very first thread, Anon. If you didn't want it, why did you get on Mr Decu's Wild Ride to start with? You seem to be after something this quest has never been.
>>
>>45276024
That's not the point. The point is that Decu could get this quest over with faster if he really wanted to by not including those.
>>
>>45272682

Good morning!

I wanted to do a kimono drawing for Chiaki and Midori for New Year's, but I was still getting used to my new tablet then and couldn't quite manage in time. I'll see if I can make something down the line though!
>>
>>45276052
How about Kharn in an undersized kimono for the purposes of hilarity?
>>
>>45276032
And if he isn't doing what you say, it must be because he doesn't want to. I have the opinion that Decu is a weiter who enjoys taking in the details. I agree that that makes the quest slower, but increases the quality in general (at leadt, in my opinion). Stop protesting about what you can't change and simply enjoy the quest or leave
>>
>>45276080
I disagree that improves the quality. It does improve the quality when it otherwise wouldn't make any fucking sense for the character do what she did, like when Chiaki passed over her gem, otherwise it's completely unnecessary.
And stop saying "stop complaining or enjoy it" like a good little drone. I won't leave because that Moon inhabitant got me invested and I want to see it end. I won't fully enjoy it because it takes ages to finish, and because more than half of the time, Decu gets me all excited for absolutely nothing when he announces over twitter.
>>
>>45276107
You just don't like "rambling storyteller" type of writing.

Though, I agree, Chiaki's monologues are sometimes like Chiaki herself: self-loathing and not going anywhere.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmvpJ5Ewkc8
>>
>>45276407
And Midori's monologues are also just like Midori herself; Oversized and useless.
>>

>>
>>45276407
>Though, I agree, Chiaki's monologues are sometimes like Chiaki herself: self-loathing and not going anywhere.
Not everything written has to "go somewhere". Decu, like many writers, enjoys taking in the details (not because he wants us to enjoy, but most likely because HE enjoys writting that way and visualizing the situation in his head). I am someone who enjoy that, evn if that makes the thread go slower
>>
>>45276449
They're a flammable distraction.
>>
>>45276457
>Not everything written has to "go somewhere".
And here you lose all credibility. Story-wise, no, it does not have to go anywhere. Content-wise, yes, it does have to go somewhere, otherwise there's no fucking reason to put it there in the first place. It doesn't have to progress a plot to have value, it can be a set up to some joke or side-plot, it can be comedic, it can be whatever. But being flowery for the purpose of being flowery is just terrible.

And hell, you can let your reader or even yourself imagine it with much less words. No need to describe, in detail, the inner turmoil, when you can just say that they have an inner turmoil. What goes on in your head as a writer does not matter, what matters is what you let out.

>>45276457
Yeah, but reader's enjoyment of that kind of writing can be difficult. I enjoyed Chiaki's ramblings in mgnq, I enjoyed overly long scenes in MGS, I didn't hate paragraphs upon paragraphs of worldbuilding in LotR, but I get why some people might just see it as a filler.

>>45276500
>No need to describe, in detail, the inner turmoil, when you can just say that they have an inner turmoil.
Now, you're being silly.
>>
>>45276615
Problem is, I only see it as filler because these threads are oh-so-rare. Deculture is already milking it thin with this schedule. I wouldn't say a damn thing if there was a thread twice a week, but having one even one a week is now a big issue.
>>
>>45276641
I get it. I feel like that about some web comics. Once i can binge them in one go, they can be exciting, but when you have to wait days for every strip, they loose the pace. You can wait for them to get finished, but then you may just forget about their existence altogether.
>>
>>45276641
Ol, I agree with you in the slow progress, but as you have said, this story is the same with two times-a-week update or one-time. So the story is not going to change: the "fillers" as you call them will continue to being here. So, why get angry over it? That's how the story is. Of course, with faster updates everything would be better, but nothing to do in thst regard
>>
>>45276757
You could still fit more story into the same volume without them, you know. Even when catching up do I just skip over most of the monologues, unless they are actually important like in that entire recent Malal thing.

Let me put this another way.

Do you really expect that quest writing style will ever produce a top-notch, technicaly ideal story? Even though professional writers go through numerous revisions and proof-reading to make their books work (and then fail miserably)?

It's like complaining about your dungeon master not creating a bestseller book with every RPG campaign you play with him.

which sounds a lot like

>my storyteller repeats himself too much, get on with it!

which is a valid point, but I don't see that happening in a quest format writing. It sounded like you had really high expectations towards mgnq, so I expressed my opinion in the most 4chan way, by calling you an autist, or even worse, literary critic. Sorry about that.

You haven't seen what's Kharn capable of while she's in her witch form. Her witch barrier isn't called "sex gulag" for nothing.

Chiaka is insane, she is prone to kneejerk reactions, she's hedonistic (although not in a "party party party" sense, but she values what makes her feel good for a moment), she is overly trusting and easily led, and she did nothing wrong.

you're joking, but there is legitimately an entire Officio full of that in the setting

>Callidus mostly fill the function of making the Officio money in shadier ways, and countering other Callidus that would attempt to sneak in. They are crouching eastern slavic suburban cliches, impossible to tell from any other person in a tracksuit. They like to squat at fairly high vantage points, however. If they do this in numbers, other classes like to call such a group "a murder of Callidus".
>>
>>45284179
Actually, I was serious.

Consider for example old folklore monsters from central Europe, kind of like some monsters from the Witcher universe. How cool would it be to have a slav meguca and a slav witch?

Or maybe a meguca/witch based on romantic era literature from that region. I'm sure you could find some tragic meguca fate inspirations from those sources.

And then, she could be crouching in a tracksuit and drink vodka, because that's what slavs do.

Funny you'd actually want that, because other people usually want patterns they can decipher in things. I went for dark souls/bloodborne aesthetics with the 12th because that is someting people will actually get. Nobody picked up on the Witcher jokes in the writeups either, which is probably because the writeups were written before the games were actually famous, but anyway: Slav culture simply isn't very well known in the world aside of tracksuit memes. If you want that, make your own. The Russian Officio is still a big mystery, really.

To illustrate the earlier point, in the MGNW playtest not a day ago, I had the players fight the Witch named Šárka and then said it's the Witch of Sakura Matou (which was partially true), because I can't realistically expect them to know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Maidens'_War

rIncidentaly, MGNW is being playtested right now. We're having a blast.

MGNQ system I've been working on for a while, recently other writefags and channel people started helping me with it a lot.

We'll make a separate thread for it when we're confident in it and possibly storytime the campaign[/spoiler, right now the thread is in necrosis though, so a little advertisement probably won't hurt.

It was just a thought I entertained for a moment. I'm not a writer, nor do I intend to harass writers about my random ideas (I would drive them to suicide).

And I don't think all witches from the original pmmm were that easy to decipher. But every missed allusion was only helping keeping the eldrith abomination appeal, so nothing was lost.

the Witcher jokes in the writeups? Which ones?

So, we still didn't get to talk to the Dolls.
This is a problem, because we don't know what they're really capable of, or if they can help us on the Moon.

What we've seen of their abilities (invisibility, able to operate within a Silent Room) would be useful to us at the First. Especially if they have some means of disabling the Silent Room, stuffing Mami into the Platypus Suit, and whisking her away back down to Earth, so that we could honestly say under questioning that we did not rescue Mami or commit physical acts related to her escape.
