This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son, shortly after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin graduate named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You have just recently graduated to a Chunin after winning the final tournament, and it is several days after. Your first mission as a Chunin is underway.

Slowly, the terrain shifts from a thick forest into an even thicker swamp. The heat of the day causes the air to become filled with humidity. All around you are various ponds hidden under thick algea and grass, the shorter trees twisting their branches across in a tangled mess. The path that you're on has become narrow and muddy, and you approach the base of a mountain that has been on the horizon since you began this journey.

You're drawing close to the enemy territory. Sarasu stops, and turns. "Alright, we're here. It's time to split up into teams, and scour the area. This'll be our rendezvous point, should any of us get separated or injured. Let's go!"

Sarasu starts to walk down the path, directly towards the enemy. Takkun and Naota take off to the right, and you and Yasu take off towards the left. You leap into the trees and slowly, carefully, make your way through them. If you were to fall into the water, it could result in a pretty dire situation. The boss of the enemy uses Lightning Style.

Yasu is silent, and you are as well. You start to come through the foliage as you reach the base of the mountain, and the two of you kneel in the mud and crawl forward through some reeds. You can see the enemy fort. There is a crude wooden wall surrounding it, as well as several guards patrolling a wall.

It seems that you'r free to initiate the attack as you'd prefer. Stealth would probably smart, as Sarasu had mentioned. You look over to Yasu. "Hey, do you know anything besides Taijutsu?"
>>
She cocks her head to the side. "Yeah? All the basics, and a couple of wind style ninjutsu."

Far away, you can hear the sounds of battle on the other end of the fort. Smoke is starting to rise in the distance as well.

The fort's walls are about ten feet high, and the entire structure is built partially into the mountainside. The guards all turn and look at the smoke, and move about in a panic for a very short period before adhering to a strict patrol. It's about a twenty meter sprint to the wall.

>A. Go loud. Yasu charges a hole through the wall, and you follow from the shadows and support.
>B. Genjutsu. Use the False Sound jutsu to distract the guards that you can see. Slip into the camp.
>C. Precision strike. Throw a senbon with a bell and wire attached. It should land in front of a guard, distracting him just long enough for Yasu to attack. When the enemy rushes you at the wall, activate Paralyzing bells.

They must be spooked a bit by the sound of battle.
>>
"I'm going to use the False Sound Jutsu, to cause the guards to all look to the left for a bit. We should dash into the camp as quickly as we can after that, and try to hide."

Yasu looks at you, confused. "But we don't know what's on the other side. What if we charge in and they're all having lunch, or something?"

You scratch your chin. "Well...they'll be caught off guard."

Quickly, you form the hand signs for your technique. The several guards that are posted along the wall all shoot their heads to the left, and leap from their positions and ran into the woods. You use Shunshin to dash as fast as you can into the compound, soaring through the air briefly before touching down on rough wood, crouching as you land. Yasu arrives next to you a moment later, a considerably more forceful impact.

The both of you preform the transformation jutsu, and disguise yourselves as rather generic looking thugs. Hopefully no one will ask you any questions like this, and you'll be able to move freely.

You leap down into the camp just as the guards burst from the treeline, looking confused as they their posts once more.

Looking around the encampment, you can see it's crude nature as clear as day. The walls were constructed with material that was gathered from all over, and of low quality. The wood be extremely flammable if it weren't for the moisture of the swamp, however, this seems to have caused some rotting as well. You keep it in mind that the walls would probably succumb to sufficient force. Otherwise, the camp is about what you expected. A random assortment of large and small tents, as well as a number of fire pits.

Yasu glares. "Almost looks military, if it wasn't so crappy."

What do you want to do?

>A. Search for the artifact.
>B. Search for the leader of the encampment.

You tell Yasu to follow you, and act natural. She switches her normally confident sway into the lumbering gait of a low IQ bandit. You also try to mimic this, to look as tough as possible. You quietly try to scan the area as much as you can for anything important. It doesn't take particularly long, granted you do try to hurry as you complete the circuit. Sarasu, Naota, and Takkun will most likely be arriving soon enough. In fact, you're surprised that Sarasu isn't already here considering that he charged directly for the camp. Maybe he's nearby, waiting for you to make a move first. Or assisting Takkun and Naota.

Yasu points out a pile of barrels, and the two of you deduce that they're filled with oil used for machinery, although you doubt that's why they have them. You also think you see someone awfully similar to the Jounin that Sarasu was describing. You think his name was Koji, or something like that.

He vanishes, using the Shunshin technique. He's heading in the direction of the fighting.

Last of all, you notice that there seems to be the highest concentration of guards around the mouth of a small cave. Perhaps this was the one that you saw in your vision.

You seem to have three choices.

>A. Follow Koji, and join in the distant fighting.
>B. Have Yasu toss a barrel of oil into a fire pit. Charge the cave while others are distracted.
>C. Have Yasu smash the guards of the cave as you run past her, and get the artifact as fast as you can.

next update coming soon, going to be momentarily indisposed for about 10 minutes
>>
You ask her to lift the barrel and toss it into the fire pit.

She leans on it, and shrugs. "Why don't you?"

"Well, you're stronger." you reply quite simply.

She grins. "I know, I just wanted to hear you say it."

You grumble. "I'll make sure no one's looking.."

After a few careful minutes of tense waiting, you spot your opportunity. "Now! Go!"

She lifts the barrel up after kneeling and wrapping her arms around it. Both feet planted firmly in the ground, she stiffens her legs and throws her hands upwards, grunting. The barrel is launched forward, spinning and hitting the ground on it's side before rolling directly into the incline of a fire put. Several men are seated around the fire, eating, and they look at the barrel in a moment of stunned confusion. The next, the fiery explosion of black liquid roars, and you're blinded and blasted back all at once. Yasu remains standing, shielding her eyes with her forearm as you make your way back to your feet, somewhat dazed from the impact.

The spot where the men had been is now a burnt-black splotch of blood, and the remains rain down as burning chunks coated in oil all around you. Some pieces hit the wall, but the moisture resists it. Everyone in the encampment is panicked, those who had been collecting their equipment to go join the fight elsewhere now taking up arms and searching place to place. Fortunately for you and Yasu, you both have your transformation jutsu still in effect.
>>
>>45260151

The two of you run forward, trying to look scared and busy all at the same time. With some luck, no one bothers you, and you reach the unguarded mouth of the cave. You sprint in with Yasu at your side, and at the end of the small cave is a bronze platform, with a glowing, purple orb as large as a melon resting on a velvet pillow.

The two guards, both clearly ex-rain shinobi based on their scratched out headbands, step forward. "What the hell are you two doing here?! Go help them, idiots! We've got this covered!"

>A. "They need you to help defeat the enemy, they sent us to cover your post."
>B. Drop your transformation, and shunshin forward with a kunai in hand for an attack. Yasu will follow your lead.

"They need you to help with the enemy. They sent us to cover your posts."

The left one rubs his neck. "But Koji said that if we move from this spot without his permission, he'd kill us.."

The right one nods. "Yeah, that sounds like a bad time."

Yasu sighs. "Koji's kind of busy! He's out there fighting, and he needs your help! Go!"

They both step forward from their positions. "Boss! We're coming!"

As they jump forward, you smile. They run past you, and you whip around and release two kunai. Each one goes into the left ankle of the enemy shinobi, causing them to stumble and fall forward as they turn around, shock. "Ugh! What!? Wh-"

Before their query could be finished, Yasu cleaves the heads off of both of the men in a single clean swipe. The sound of her sword singing through the air is sharp, almost like a whistle. You're pretty happy that you didn't have to fight her.

You run over to the orb, and slow to a stop in front of it. It's almost mesmerizing, and you can't help but feel that it's attempting to draw you in, somehow. You reach out to touch it, but a sharp stinging sensation and a flash of light burns your hand. You snatch it back, and in the air is a glowing seal of protection.

From the little you've learned about seals, you know that this type is generated by a chakra connection. Whoever put this barrier here is likely in relative proximity to you.

Yasu steps over. "What's the problem!? Grab it!"

You shake your head. "There's some sort of protection seal. We won't be able to bust through, unless we can drain it's maker's chakra. But we've got no idea who put this here."

Yasu scratches her chin. "Well, it wasn't either of those two idiots. There aren't that many shinobi here, really. Should we just go and find them all real quick? It seems like we're past the point for stealth."

You consider it.

After a few moments of careful consideration, you re-evaluate your strategy. "Actually, I think we'd be better off if we stayed in here and tried to guard the orb. With the others outside fighting, we'll either see someone come to get it and hopefully unlock it, or they'll beat whoever made the seal."

Yasu nods. "Okay, makes sense. What are we going to do about them?"

You look down. "Hmm, hard to say. There isn't much of a-"

"What the HELL!?!"

You and Yasu both look up, just in time to see a man turning tail and running. "Help! They're after the orb! Someone help me!!"

You and Yasu both lock eyes. "Shit!" she yells. "That's bad!"

While it loses the advantage of a chokepoint, this is an area that a Sealmaster's been at. If it isn't rigged to blow, I'd be disappointed in the quality of the Sealmaster.

Additionally, both ours and Yasu's styles benefit from an excess of maneuverability. If we get clones going, things can end really well for us.

You and Yasu both burst outside, and you come to a complete halt at the sight in front of you. There are maybe a hundred men in total, spread throughout this section of the encampment all staring down your direction. They part as the man that you'd seen in your vision, Koji, steps forward. His eyes seem notably wearier than you remember. You imagine that he's leading this whole operation. Your body tenses, and he stops short a few dozen feet. The man yells out, and Yasu draws her huge blade while you grip your fists tightly and draw a kunai.

He smiles. "Leaf Genin. Your sensei is a bit occupied with more of my men, at the moment. I see you couldn't access the orb, as I'd planned. I've had more men hiding in the mountainside of the base, through a separate cave system accessed by hatches. That's the reason we set up in this place! It looks like garbage up top, but the tunnels from the old wars that are still here make things pretty easy for moving a lot of units, or hiding."

You furrow your brow. "I'm a Chunin."

He blinks. "What?"

You point to your headband with your thumb. "I said I'm a Chunin. Get it right. I guess you're Koji?"

His eyes narrow. "That's right. Tch, I didn't realize I was so well known among the younger generation."

You shrug. "Well, it doesn't matter."

Koji nods. "That's right. This is a pointless conversation. Have a fun time."

He turns, his long black jacket flapping in the wind.

The crowd roars, and they all rush for you at once. Yasu does the same, to your surprise, exploding forward with complete abandon. She hefts her sword in a horzontal swing, roaring mightily. The blade singing through the air sounds even sharper than before, the your hair is blown back as a blade of air is cut from the tip of her sword.

"Pressure Blade Jutsu!"

The crescent of pressurized air cuts the first five men at the torso, completely in half. They scream and fly back as the blade implodes against the second wave, dousing the amazonian girl in blood. She whips her hair back, and flecks of red splash against your face the motion.

You step forward, a kunai in hand. Some of the enemy seems to be hesitant, but then a rogue shinobi leaps from the crowd.

"Great Fireball Jutsu!"

He fires one directly at the ground below your feet, and you have but only a few moments to react.

Which it won't be. A flak jacket stops kunai and is for holding other equipment. You'll want to set yours up when you've got the time to plan a better arsenal of equipment.

You quickly prepare the hand signs for Water Bullet Jutsu, and let loose a volley of four bullets. The large fireball is punctured and disrupted, and the final bullet slams into the enemy shinobi and sends him flying beyond the wall of the encampment.

Yasu leaps into the fray, leaving you in a cloud of dust. "Hey!"

She stomps as she lands, practically crushing a man to death as she strikes his shoulders and his legs buckle. She jumps from him and turns, kicking off of another's face to fly back over to you. "What??" she says innocently.

"We should stick together!"

You draw another kunai, and block the stab of a spear that was headed towards your right cheek. You deflect the blow to the side and kick the man in the midsection as hard as you can, with a thundering whack. He clutches his side and hits the ground, dropping his weapon. You kick him once more for good measure, assuring that he's knocked out. Yasu grins, frightening you slightly as the girl is dripping blood.

Another rogue shinobi bursts in from the crowd, wielding a katana. "Die!!" he yells in frustration.

Yasu slams her sword into the ground in front of her as hard as she can, causing an explosion of dust.

The man who was charging her yells, and stops, confused. He's in the center of the dust cloud, and Yasu quickly picks up a rock with her free and and lobs it with a professional baseball pitch, knocking the guy out, or possibly killing him.

You have a brief flashback to how your sensei was completely unphased by a similar attack.
>>
>>45263438
As you're charged down, you find it shockingly easy to evade any of their attacks. The common men only threaten you when more than one gets close, but you're quite easily able to stay on the fringe of the horde and quickly pick them off when the oppurtunity makes itself present. A senbon to the eye, a kunai to the solar plexus, and a cut throat. Many more, as well. Meanwhile, Yasu is simply going along with her usual strategy of brute force.

The bodies are flying, and the blood is flying. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Koji, his arms crossed, standing in a puddle of bloody mud. His eyes are shut, but they slowly crack open to reveal two angry, burning points. "Enough back down, everyone! It's clear that you chumps are no match /FOR A COUPLE OF GENIN/!?"

He takes a first step forward, and you feel the ground beneath you shake slightly from the impact of his foot. This enemy possesses some serious strength. Another Elite Jounin. You look to Yasu with worry for a glance, but you see that she's smiling cooly.

Before Koji can take his second step, there's an explosion of bloody water underneath him. Takkun bursts from a shallow puddle somehow, a kunai in his hand pointed upwards. He launches out and stabs it towards Koji's jaw, but he twists his head to the side and narrowly avoids it. The blade of the kunai still catches his face, creating a long, fairly deep cut vertically on his face, just right of the eye. "AAH /FUCK/!!"

Takkun takes a knee to the gut, and is propelled through the air. He rolls against the ground after a short bounce, and a man with a flail swings it down, threatening to crush his head.

The young Leaf Genin simply rolls to the right, into another puddle from your earlier jutsu. He suddenly vanishes, plunging into the water despite it clearly being less than an inch or two.

Yasu chuckles. "That's a pretty dirty jutsu of his, hiding in puddles like that.."
>>
>>45263466

Takkun leaps from another nearby, and lands next to you and Yasu. He's soaking wet, but seemingly fine. "Hey guys. Where's sensei?"

Yasu cracks her knuckles. "Busy, with some other bozo. This one's ours, I think."

Takkun leaps back into a puddle, hiding.

Koji grits his teeth. "Bitch..Running Lightning!"

Koji flies through handsigns in a blur, and slams his palms into the muddy earth. Bolts of electricity race across the ground, leaping from point to point as they charge after you. From what you can see there are two separate blasts. The bolts hit a puddle, and a few moments later Takkun is ejected, holding a bloody shoulder. and crawling along the ground, attempting to escape.

The bolts are headed straight for you. What do you do?

You leap as high as you can, and twist your body so that your feet hit the stone wall of the mountain. Yasu simply leaps forward, soaring through the air in flight before landing behind Koji. You run higher and higher, and turn at the apex of your momentum and kick off. Drawing your various weapons, you unleash a volley of steel.

Below you, the mountain wall is struck with electricity, and the ground rumbles.

Going to end things here for tonight, folks. I'll be running more frequently again now.

Leeches from Resident Evil Zero

Leech clone jutsu get rekked taijutsu specialists
>>
>>45267515
I somehow doubt Mini would let us use them, and they'd probably be on Tsunade's contract too.
>>
>>45267564
slugs and leeches are totally different!
>>
>>45267629
So are rats and mice.
>>
>>45267660
They're completely different organisms. Leeches are annelids and slugs are mollusks.

>anime logic
Plus in legend leeches aren't usually intelligent.

that's fine. just leave the thinking to Takeshi
>>

>>45267827
Problem is a summoning contract needs to have intelligence on the part of the summoned.
>>
>>45267848
This, I really hope we get to do that soon, it's been bugging me for a while.
>>
>>45267848
I thought you meant they were dumb, not feral dumb. we'll just have to wait and see how Mini feels on this subject.

summoning contracts always kinda felt like a clan gimmick anyway

that shit is generally not going to be left lying around.

Just think about it anon, rat ninjas and master splinter.

but the leeches could steal chakra from enemies and give it to us!

or just swarm and kill them
>>
>>45268145
That's the Aburame clan's schtick man
>>
>>45268180
Their shtick is being forgotten and wearing shades 24/7
>>
>>45268246
and bugs that eat chakra and kill people.
>>
>>45268271
there was some ninja clan that controlled Bees in the anime.

and I don't recall Shino ever killing anyone. and they only control beetles and they don't summon them either.

though Rats do seem apropos for the character. a small survivor that must make do in a hostile world where's its on the bottom of the food chain.

I just think the leech idea is neat.
>>
>>45268471
>a small survivor that must make do in a hostile world where's its on the bottom of the food chain.

They also work well in groups and are much smarter than people give the credit for.
>>
>>45268471
Shino didn't get enough screen time to even give you the chance to see him kill anyone

But he did blow Zaku's arms the fuck off. Not those pansy little holes they did in the anime, I'm talking about the manga where he blew his arms off and you can see his fucking hands land on the ground

Don't fuck with Shino, dude is hardcore
>>
>>45268629
I think Shino, Kiba, and Tenten were the only ones that didn't get tragic backstories among the leaf kiddies
>>
>>45268629
you can't fuck with someone that's never on screen
>>
>>45268721
Kishi never gave him screentime cause he knew Shino would fuck everybody up and there would be no plot

Kishi fears the Aburame
>>
>>45268810
its because he just creates characters and then does fuck all with them.

not nearly as much as Kubo though
>>
>>45268879
Kubo has flat out stated he gets over his writer's block by making new characters. That's why Bleach is so overcrowded with useless characters.
