" I suppose now we should figure out our next plan of action. We have people to track, quests to undertake and I heard from the Runner's Guild lately that bandits have been using the descending stairs to attack runners at the fore. Another notable quality of this next area is that it's a cove like environment, with crested waves crashing against mountain /peaks/ But for our purposes, we travel the flat slopes of this [Highland Road] and should find the stairs at the end of it. Of course the door may drop us randomly, this floor is on a continental shift after all...

Humm ? Well after interviewing them it would seem that they don't know anything about adventuring. So I'm willing to say that
=Anything= will do. However I will caution against classes that seem to go way over their head... like summoning. Either way, which ever group they attach to, they are keen on picking up whatever they've learned from their mentor.

My one advise is to pair them with an adept.
>>
>>45271661
as clarification: pairing them with an advance class will only apprise them of the base classe's skills.
>>
>>45271661
Hmmm... that narrows things.

I'm in a position to teach. As is Burkhard, Sigmund is going to be an adept shortly, but Kail might be a better choice. Gilda might still be able to teach base class things?

Can an advanced class that teaches them base class things do?

One is the Academic Writing Pole, which is the Plant attuned one. The other is the Academic Writing Tool which is the Time attuned one.
>>
>>45271954
You have an Academic Writing Stick, it has the stats you listed. The Pole is an earlier version.

There is an issue though in that the Academic Writing Stick is incapable of Plant healing Pulses (the standard your MAG = healing received Pulse) like your old Guide Wand. This is not an issue, there is an Academic Writing Pole in the Group bank, with identical stats to your current one, but with the Plant element.

However wait until you get a ruling on Time Pulses and then decide what to do.

=Daughter of a Gun=
You clear your head with the rifle propped before you for support. Placing your head against the shaft you begin to summon images of someone small. Someone young and helpless looking on as a man was getting mauled by a 4 armed monster. A gun, and a shot. The rifle flung her back and towards a river she went. Days would be spent , then weeks and these brittle hands never left the gun. Never left the hunt. The hunt had to succeed, to avenge her father. To kill the beast. Day she walked, following tracks, the seasons would change and at last, the monster is in its lair with children. Fat with corpses. Her patience paid off, her hands black with its blood.

[Relentless]: Witnessing a murder will allow you to track the culprit with a tap action.

"Adventuring, or Running, is about getting from one floor to another. We do dangerous jobs for pay, kill things that threaten people, from bandits to wild beasts to nasty folks threatening to blow up towns. We also sometimes blow up towns, but we try to avoid doing that."

"When you guys are paired up, we can get you all kitted out," he nods to Runner Scholar, "I think that sounds best, best for a student and a teacher to segue well. But Ziegfried never learned all his roguery, so he wouldn't be the best teacher."

He settles down, "Now, I'm a hunter, my job isn't usually killing things, instead I work to impair the enemy, help others finish the job, I also move fast, scout, and generally make a nusiance of my self to the enemy. It often involves being at flanks and away from support, or with very little. It means you don't get to be the star of the show often, but you save people's lives on your team, or capture living foes to bring back, either to bring them to justice, or in the case of some beasts, to be broken down for parts to help improve our equipment or our ghouls. If that sounds like the job for you, I'll be more than willing to teach you, you'll be my third student."

No Lei Lei, I am not going to sell you. I think you will do best with accompanying Gilda. She was a guide first before a navigator and her path is a good one. She can also teach you how to be scary so no one can ever sell you to be a concubine.

FoosFoos would you like to accompany Sigmund? He is newer to our group, but his heart is good and his knight armor shiny. Mentoring you shall do you both a good thing I believe.

DaraDara would you like to accompany me? I also find myself running around after my companions to keep them out of trouble. With limited success. I will teach you the wonders of magic and you will also help me with Karkadyne as we do not speak the same langauge.

This graph will perfectly illustrate your current quandary.

> Sort of injokeish but ok.

> What to get from this graph.
Basically Floors is tricky. It is the most Substantial in Action Phase, when players finally participate in battle and make waves but at the same time it becomes the biggest time commitment there is. This is clearly a game that will celebrate your agency as a player but CRUSH IT UNDER THE WEIGHT OF BATTLE. Oh but Look ! Working together with a team Has far more substance for not a lot of commitment. This game like any game has a lot of challenges and pulls and it rewards smart people to participate in it in the spirit of gameplay. At the same time it's also a time sink. But hey it's free.
>>
>>45273926
Roleplay matters A LOT during the action phase?!

Could you have seen this story go differently if the Gate in luxendarc BLEW UP ? But it matters. The tiniest grain of action sand in action phase matters infinitely more than the weeks spent in a corridor.

Burk was glad to be back on the surface, the cloying scent of spiced and cooked meats was not so appealing when you could make a good guess to it's origins.

He sat down heavily near the order shrine and took in several grateful gulps of cool air and relaxed. He took out a picture, it showed three coppers from the Old Cobbler's presinct back in Helvetica, before they got moved out into the sticks. He would know, one of them was him.

"Well, Gorbash, Waddy, what a fine mess your sergeant has gotten himself into. It seems as though he's going to be trying to stop a war before a bunch of firebrands and fanatics ruin it for everyone" He leaned back.

"And to think we were just going to stop in town until the next airship arrived, bloody, /bloody/ Lanternreap, you didn't deserve that. You were just coppers in the wrong place at the wrong time..." He put the picture back and stared out into space.

=A Waking Lifemare=
Placing the Guide wand before her, Khya knelt down to the statue of Saint Rudopher, to clear her mind. She didn't know why this particular saint appealed to her meditations, but the concept of an optimistic Leper who wore and iron mask and cracked jokes worked to still her embattled mind of yesterday's events. It was here that something stirred, the Lifemare began to show activity as conflict ran through her mind changing colors violently from Purple, to Green, to Pitch when suddenly-
The true ring reverberated in Khya's prayer as the Lifemare began to unravel. And only then did her soul began to still and understanding washed over her eyes as she inspected the mutating sapling.

Well don't let me be the one to complement your kind for takin the throne, humans just happen to be popular in the MeloDia Spiral where everything is fertile an' nice but they do tend to be everywhere and so their popularity and longevity is nothing to cough at. If anyone needs anything, Rabbitspaw will be in the Ignylly Memorium-Sanctum thinking about Promises and Dragons and Past. Please-please don't forget to pick Rabbitspaw up when we leave. Rabbitspaw needs to have a conversation with a Dove-Shadow and could get distracted.

>Return to Ignyllian Order and face the past

Rabbitspaw is bad with certainity. RedCap-Overlord says Doppie was true-sure of idea, and Doppie-Shadow said was sure of self. Surer than Rabbitspaw. And men is sure-sure monsters are bad. Can be sure and wrong at the same time, and get people-monster-humans killed. Vidofnir worked to make monster-men-bridge. Was sure of that too. And out of all the things, that is good thing to be sure-certain-believe in. Help orphans and crocodile and ghoul and humans. Then we all live. Is good thing to be certain of. And Rabbitspaw will be. Can be light in dark lawless places, good and just. Not good or evil or doppelganger, just fair and true and unbiased Rabbitspaw.
So you can have prison-past clothes. Rabbitspaw will keep his knives and make better future.

Mordenkainen will head to the order, to spend the rest of his time in quiet meditation and offer up a prayer for the departed Deacon.

>Pray for Deacon

"I will admit, I am not a religious man. The scriptures of your god and your accolades to it are both strange and foreign to me. The concept of faith, to believe unconditionally in a benevolent all-father with nothing more than anecdotal proof, is anathema to every principle I hold dear as a man of theory and research. I know not what led you down this path, Honored Deacon, nor what fulfillment you achieved by setting upon it. But even with mine own many failings, I can find admiration within me."

"Conviction. A singular force which drives men to feats both noble and sinister. The ability to press on through hardship, even confronted by ones own doubts and fears. The drive to stand firm upon ones own feet to meet a mortal blow, rather than cower away and pray for a painless death. I admire and respect conviction, for in this hollow place it all we have left to keep us sane. Perhaps it is for that reason I feel compelled to partake in superstition this day. I know not what brought you to LuxenDarc, nor by whose or what machinations you were brought low by. What I do know, Honored Deacon, is that all the same you followed your convictions on the path that you believed was proper."

"Soon, my brothers and sisters and I will depart from this place. I will take the to the battlefield armored not in robe nor plate, but clad only in mine own convictions. I know not if my end awaits me there, but knowing my death draws near matters not. There are forces that seek to bring harm to this world I am now part of; this world that you no doubt strove to protect in your own way right until the end. I will not suffer their plans to come to fruition. I will find the cur which dares don your face and brings disgrace upon your name and order, and when I do, not even your god will be able to save them from me."

>Seeing his new allies in Prayer, he follows suit.

As he reflects on recent events his mind wanders to the young Orodnians joining the group and his own past.

With mage parents who unsuccessfully tried to teach him their craft.

How he was left orphaned after a group killed them and held him captive as a slave.

Time spent in chains had allowed him to become intimately familiar with them and he had learned to utilize them. When a time came where he could escape, he could only rely on them as a means too.........

>Bubblewulf shakes his head to clear his thoughts.

He ran from that place and found a haven to settle for a bit. He gained some control of his life and control of his skills, but in this tower there is so much to run from and he had little reason to stop.

>Runner, I believe Latvian had offered to show us a Ruin where we could practice summoning safely
(isn't that the editor class?)
>>
>>45273947
Yeah?
If Beckie hadn't opted to detonate the Reaper Statues, it's unlikely the blood mages would have fled to Luxendarc. If we hadn't decided to side with Ishmael and the lads, we wouldn't have fought against the Board of Education and gotten an airship - there was a perfectly fantastic stairway within reach. If Jackie hadn't closed a certain bloody portal into the never-ending eye of Yig, we'd be neck deep in outsiders and daemons. Hell, if we'd surrendered like the War Machine wanted us to, we could just have given them Latvian and Wendigo - double Hell, if Jenny hadn't wandered into that storage closet she wouldn't have a demon in her neck so she wouldn't have gone to the Clinic so she wouldn't have gotten it sealed so she wouldn't have been mentioned by Redcap as us having demons in our midst (Mind you, the order wouldn't be annoyed that we have demons in our midsts).

Quarz saved our life by pumping purple mist into the volgon War Machine because someone asked him, Florian is bonded with a dragon which is possible because Livian decided to destroy the head of it instead. She could have just picked up the eye, we could have dashed for the stairs and woosh the Wyrd Hunts a dragon richer and Luxendarc is gone. What about using time and resources and aid to help Cracky, who is now a WunderMaker? Velen getting ghouled so he could see a ghost so he could get a Ferryman's coin so he could offer rest to the souls of the damned that Golgotha had in its grasp. Someone lets Graves out of his cage in the Vosskon airship, and we get a pilot, which helps people understand the very ghouled possession they were just experiencing and going through.

What happens if in order to get the book on Summoning you wanted, you loaded up on guns and started shooting up the Schola? Granted, according to the crystal corridors two of the attempts failed but you could give it a fair go. What happens if Jackie hadn't closed the eye of Yig?

"I found a new mission! I must nurture and tend to this new budding life I have been blessed with and grow a garden from it. Life can still bloom even in the darkest hours and greatest despair. We just have to be there to tend to it in time it will grow. We just have to believe we can."

Poka ran down the street her head full of questions and ideas, she had no idea how she will do this to but she must try whatever.

Sigmund will take FoosFoos and begin to teach them of the basics of Knighthood, namely the things he first learned as a squire, how to maintain his equipment, how to keep an edge on the sword, how to make sure the shield and armor is in good shape so it doesn't fall apart at the first blow, sure it may be boring busy work, but this work is also some of the most important work a Knight can do before battle. Once he has that down we shall begin on how to properly swing his sword.

Don't worry-worry, we'll bust them out if there's an issue. Rabbitspaw would have loved to help if they asked-questioned. Not fan of things in chains.

Besides - think think. Redcap-Overlord says this place is "No Laws outside of Runner Light" and if people gave you trouble-issue you could fight back.

So in a way, Beckie is just being smart-clever and using the laws of the land. Stealing is okay if she can protect what she stole and if who she stole-took from can't. Is not so fair. Is not law of Antiquity.

Rabbitspaw disagrees with principle, but so it goes. Still thinks Beckie is doing the right thing.

As party leader I am allowed to do several things, that includes ending our current activity and say we are done here and ready to move on to the next thing.

As to why do it now? Because everyone who wants to do things have done at least one action and probably more in the Crystal Corridors. That is enough for now. We do not want to make Monday regret making these intermediary steps between floors available.

If I have misinterpreted my role Monday is free to say nope and override me.
>>
>>45287019
Well, then the first thing I suggest you reconsider, before appealing to some third party rather than the people you're supposed to lead, is the everyone who wants to do things bit. Like that mage Moore right there. Or hetros there. Or whatever consequence people get around to for trying to kidnap slaves. Or Meave who said they'd make a proper thread later (And still hasn't done that).

You're the leader, buddy, not the dictator. Subtle difference. Do a good job, sure, but at least ask if people are done first and keep track of all the ones who aren't if you're going to be any sort of leadery type.

I understand it seems like a huge cut off, but it /is/ a lot of work drawing up stuff and taking orders.
Monday isn't a machine and I'm fine if my action doesn't take place.
It's a missed opportunity to roleplay, sure, but we've been in the corridor for at least 3 threads or more.
Jackie just tries to do her best to get things sailing as smoothly as possible for both us, and Monday.
Honestly, right now we're just dicking around waiting for the next floor.

A distant rumble like thunder in the distance without pause could be heard. I wasn't sure when it started or if it was always there, gaining in volume -because whatever it was was getting closer. Everyone knew it and footsteps quickened, eventually breaking into sprints, then running.

>"My mother was holding my hand when my father scooped me up and ran but everything rapidly bogged down into a mire. I only remember that my father lost his grip and he was yelling something I couldn't hear as I was being crushed by the press of bodies. I'm not sure how long I was lost in crowd but eventually a hand reached down and picked me up. Maybe he saw me crying but that was how I met Blickentholm. It was Blickentholm who raised me," Meave smiled fleetingly at the bittersweet memory.

Among those pieces is the vision of myself aboard a crowded ship looking back to see an equally packed port in the distance coming apart from an unknown force.. and I knew my parents were back there."

>"Oh, I must be rambling..", Meave looked up but no one was around."There was a Child. A boy with a striped shirt who I met in Luxendark and told I would help him get home. In some ways, I think, getting him home is as important to me as it is to him. He was spirited away by a doppleganger, disappearing up the stairs. As I've prayed before, I pray now -again, for the lost find peace. But I also pray for strength in the coming floors that I may find the Child and get him Home.."

=A Nobler End By Another Name=
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0VsCaUk30Y
The machinations that led up to Livia's actions that day was underlined more than anything by the hesitation she faced. Long had she suffered in those agonizing seconds turned to minutes, longer still would the mind ever find clarity or resolve after the fact. " When one cannot find solace in their torrent of emotion," Nezera said during some time ago climbing the stairs, "One can always take comfort in the idea that their stable situation allows them to grieve and regret. Giving one even the oppurtunity to choose penance over their actions. But do not dwell on it, for this shaky present was the product of so many events before you where you had prayer-little choice. A lot could have gone differetly, we could have seen a far more protracted battle with more losses and a town less for example "
At the time you had not considered the words with much weight, now however, you find yourself in the same Quagmire,
" What if I had managed to contain his head ?" At the time, you couldn't
" What if the dragon continued to live yet ?" As a pumpkin. That is not living.
" What if we knew what was under that pumpkin ?" Would that it stopped your hand from delivering judgement, it would have been a black mark against a hunter.

And there it was - You are a Hunter. And hunters, they end fouled creatures granting them a Nobler End by another name; Death. "

Sigmund takes FoosFoos to the Order shrine, he lights a candle and makes a small prayer before sitting at the shrine and gesturing for the Ordonian to do the same.

After a few moments of silence Sigmund speaks, "Know that you need not make any choices now, I am simply teaching you as my mentor taught me when I was a squire such as yourself.

In the vastness of this universe we live there are many strange things, to survive many have turned to various methods of coping, the thrill of battle, simple life pleasures, knowledge in something new, and Faith.

Most Runners may make claims of faithfulness and may even adhere to them zealously, but to a Knight faith is more than a belief but a shield, whatever that knight may believe, and there are many different beliefs. For some it is a god, that the afterlife holds a reward for them once they have fallen, some even worship the Dragons as gods seeing them as a divine might upon our plane. Some the inevitable demise of the universe gives them the faith needed to mete out their blows, bringing others closer to that end. Others still believe in overwhelming loyalty to their companions, that if those they protect live then they shall be at peace in death. A few, like myself, believe that the spirits of those who have fallen before us guide our actions, so that we may make even a single step farther than they were able to and that if we manage to make it further that the next shall make another step until the quest is complete. And there are still many other beliefs all of them equally as valid and equally as powerful to the ones that believe.

>cont.
>>
>>45293478

If it is your desire to become a Knight then the best thing you can do is to have faith, for it will give you the strength to face even the mightiest of demons and bring them to their knees. Even if you believe in the simple vastness of the universe if it would give you strength beyond your means then it is enough. Before you even attempt to make your decision I would ask, as my mentor asked me, and his him. [Pray] not to any gods or greater beings, instead the first prayer of every knight belongs to their very soul, so that they may center themselves and find within them the strength of their faith."

He would then sit in silence as he waited for the small Knight-in-training to make his choice and possibly even the most important decision that a Knight could make.

Dragons, A Taxonomy

Here in this realm did survive dragons, as their ascent was one of the first to find the stairs quickly did they rise to the upper floors and found nesting grounds in odd habitats provided it made for good hatching grounds. The First Elder Dragons as one would call them, were not necessarily the oldest, but the first to Rise as High as they did just enough to hatch the next batch. As this process continued in a consistent, loop lasting for about 125 seasons [Magic] began to bloom in the places they populated enough to saturate the air with Aethers even after leaving the floor at around 30-60 Turns to Terminus. Dragons populate much of the Central Spiral as a result and some use the Outer Wall and the Rend to ascend with the power of their wings alone.

From Egg to Edlerhood Dragons and cousins of dragons are listed herein:

Hatchlings. Once Hatched Dragons are simple creatures resembling most monsters for about 1-2 seasons. All hatchlings look similar with Wing, a Tail, and Limbs

Bloodied. At around 10 seasons or so they mature learning to raid population centers as a Horde. Wyverns, Drakes, Serpents are the result of this.

Maturity. At around 50 seasons or so, they grow in size and start to break off from the horde in search of more bountiful domains. The choice to strengthen their Wings, Scales, and Size results in the loss of one or two of these depending on environmental severities or boons.
Adamantoises, Hydras, Wyrms, Dragons, Heaven Serpent

ElderDragons.
At around 1000 seasons or so, ElderDragons become the result of a long life. Unable to lay eggs any longer, they seek to find meaning in other ways , hoarding material wealth, power, knowledge, or pushing for change in a world they've only begun to understand. As guardians of their kin, they lead draconic affairs even embodying higher ideals. In short, asides classifying them by their ELement and Taxonomy, every Elder Dragons cannot be simplified past [NAME]

The Saurians-
Torr. Torr was a Teracotta type Saur, if his shell wasn't already an indication. As a result he doesnt possess a favored terrain as Kerklyklak did, But makes up for it with an armored body - before even placing on armor himself. He worked as a defender for an ancient ruin now consumed by the mal. His capture came about on the road. Without a home, Running is all that remains. He warns us that his slow speed my result in us losing time, he suggests that he stay on the beaten path for as long as one could manage. [59Years]

Falconi [Avian M/ 18 Years] Possessed with the gift of Flight, Falconi's flock has likely spearheaded into the higher floors by now with no way to follow them through the Rend. He figures staying with us on the Ship was his best choice. His job on the rend was a Hunter Gatherer. And in the air, his base movement is said to double.

Tam [F/24] Rabata is actually rather old, owing to her extended stay on the Bondage Trade. They say Tams only last this way for about 30 years before choosing to transform into another being permanently. Otherwise, she says that she's willing to do just about anything and chose to run with us since her siblings had changed over by now.

Durian [M/14] What can I say, he was captured by monters as a child and changed hands multiple times before being sold back to Bondage Road when his Midian Owner was slain. He admits that Midians bit him several times to no avail...

"Now, normally I'd be teaching you this, and some other good skills, it'd be nice if you could suspend or rig, but that lesson will have to wait." He nods to Falconi's chain, "But Hook and Pull is the bread and butter of the Hunter, and with your ability to hover, I believe you could do some series wonders with it, more than I could at least... so that's why you're learning it first."

>When the lesson is done.
"Now I want to make something clear. As a hunter, your job is not to be on the front line, it's to be off to the side, or hidden, or working your way up and scouting, it's to fuck with the enemy, rather than kill them. Disrupt them, throw them off balance. That's why hook and pull is useful, together a pair of hunters can disrupt formations, pull enemies into clusters and kill zones, and capture foes. Now, I bet you were captured by an iron maiden too, or something like it. There'll be times where we're capturing folks too, it's not pretty, as I'm sure you can imagine, but we never do it to random folks, just ones that attack us. Which brings me to my last point."

"If you see I'm in danger, and you can't help me, you run. Get yourself to somebody else. And if you have to choose between saving my life, or someone with a higher rank? You save them first. Same if it's a guide or a navigator. Now if it's a choice between me and you? You save yourself I'm the teacher here, it's my job to protect YOU, not the other way around, maybe that'll change some day, but until we find your family again, we're your family, and that means we're keeping you safe until you can run well enough on your own" he smiles, "A lot of us are looking for our families, I sent mine to a higher floor, but couldn't afford my own passage. >RP bricks!

He lingered in the Holy Memorium of the Ignyllian Order, after his prayers and self reflection. After the vision and the story. As the young militiaman walked amongst the forest of weapons – of which he spied a few guns, bayonets stabbing into stone – he pondered the seed planted in his head.

Seeds of revenge that were not truly his own.

Was this what justice truly was? Retribution for a crime committed, now an order handed to him, to take part in an endless hunt against those who wronged another?

Isaac Ispie – as he had come to call himself – was a self-admitted fool. He was not a watchman, like his comrade Watchful, if his name was any indicator of his personality; he was one who sought things out, to uncover what was hidden. This, according to his dear dead grandma – death by age, a rarity in this existence – was what made him a fool. “Only a fool would search for what was hidden,” she would tell him, “since fools don't realize that there was a reason for such things to be hidden from the start.”

His ma said that was called “hubris,” but young Isaac didn't understand it; he still didn't quite understand it. There are reasons things are hidden, or people run and hide – but that doesn't mean one should seek such things out. Right?

Isaac followed his friends to the Understairs, the Hunter's Daughter heavy on his shoulder. He felt he had no business here, but he followed nonetheless – this is where Jackie was going, and Jackie hadn't led them astray yet.
>>
>>45295436

>That was less bricks than I thought I'd make.

In truth, he would have reeled at some of the sights he witnessed, or at least frowned in distaste. But Isaac's mind was filled with fool's thoughts – of revenge. He and the new mage, Mordekainen, had found beneath Luxendark a paladin by the name of Pogrom wearing dragon scale armor. He hadn't been witness to it, but the others told him how the dragon above was missing it's scales. Isaac was a fool, but it didn't mean he was stupid – at least, that's what he told himself. Even before learning of the scaleless dragon, the words the paladin was a clear indicator that he was involved with the chaos.

The others spoke of some blood mage that they were hunting, who was responsible for Lanternreap, but to Isaac, this Pogrom was the target of his ire. He and this false Deacon. There was blood on their hands, and Isaac would see to it that they would pay – preferably by a happy birthday round dropped on their heads.

Perhaps that other new runner – that Rabbit fellow – would like to join him on his fool's quest. Maybe he could even rope in Mordy, too. But first thing's first.

He would have to get back to the Furiosa and show Army his son's work.

And maybe he'd know of a round that could beat dragon scales.

>When we return to the Furiosa, seek out Army Armistan and show him the work of his son, then ask him if he knows what kind of ammo beats dragon scales.

Rabbitspaw is great teacher! Had great teacher too. Ziegfried is also great teacher, and Burkharddy.

Uh-uh, maybe we can help-teach Durian rogue-militia cross-breed? Then he steals guns and shoots!
>>
>>45296970

We can work out rogueing on the field, it wont be hard. Just have a need to give the boy some proper clothes and we can be off. And I'l be scouting ahead by myself most of the time to get hit in the face before you people.

Now Durian come with Ziggy we're going to see what Jill managed to make with some courier pijamas and a nice earth shard.
>>
>>45297266
Oh, Rabbitspaw can answer-reply to this question too.

Is Switch, is for Switching. So if I have bomb and you have knife then I get knife and you get bomb. Ouch.

But is also for mages! If you have Book of Great Fire Murder-Pain, and Rabbitspaw has stick, he gets book and you get stick. Then Rabbitspaw doesn't get burnt. Again. And mages-wizard can cast no spells. Also gets to hit mages with own book. Yay!

For Guides, you take their ley-stick. Then Guides stab you with your knife, so Rabbitspaw suggests not doing that. Is because Guides are also half-almost knights and can use swords.
Could use Steal-steal to nick-take their books or wands, but then you drop your weapon on Floor-floor and clever mage or guide-knight picks it up and stabs you with it. Also now Rabbitspaws Fleur-ette goes through armor, so would not want to be stabbed with it.
Can also Switch-reload-switch nice Militia mans guns so he can fire-shoot. Can switch move switch if one mage needs other mages book. Can fire gun, switch empty gun with foe sword, throw sword then steal back empty gun next Turn.

Also-also if devious you Switch Llama Water for Militia's ammo pouch. If want to be nice rogue-rabbit and someone is trying to stab-murder you, you can Switch, then Throw, then Steal. Then you have your own weapon and they have nothing. Or maybe they have fancy item so you move and switch and use.

Is useful trick. Is also little it hard to use, and Rabbitspaw was eager to learn Aya's smartness. Probably smarter rogue than Rabbitspaw can think of cleverer use. Rabbitspaw prefers Steal for taking-snitching, but Switch is also useful sometimes.
>>
>Unequip dagger.
Huh, well normally I'd say Backstab. Cause stabbing people in the back is one of the ways to get past all those nasty defenses. Buuuuut, you are kinda slow. C'mon Heavy Stepper. I'm gonna show you the other side of being a rogue. It isn't all just battles and stabbing, there is a bit of trickery as well.

This is called Steal. Here hold these daggers like so. Notice I have nothing in my hands. Now whatcha do is a sucker punch the guy so his grip loosens on his weapons!

BAM

>Steal Torr's Daggers
.... Ow my fist. Still I got your daggers and now you have just your own fists to hit me with.

That is the basic of Steal. We take what the other guy has without giving anything back. Remember that part because the next skill involves the opposite. But you'll probably learn that on your own.

Still the only way to learn is to practice. Oh damn I din't think this one through.

>Give Torr his daggers back
>Requip dagger

Alright, go easy on me Heavy Stepper. Its your turn.

What a motley band of rejects we have here, criminals, heretics and worse to many (Well if the people we have beaten have spread the rumours upstairs already), saviors and heroes to some, and a chaotic wild card to watch to everyone else.

But that's just it isn't it, some might scorn our inclusion of ghouls and summoners, and they sure as hell are gonna scream when they hear we have /monsters/ on the strength. But that's just it; the people we are fighting don't have rules, they don't have strict morals, they don't play /fair/.

My old Sergeant used to say 'All bastards is bastards, but some bastards are /bastards/'. And when you are up against that kind of person, that is not the time to wonder if you are playing by the rules.

Still need stat sheets for Durian and Rabata
>>
>>45299017

Durian is the human right? Doesn't get any special stats; hence the --- / ---.

As a rogue though, I believe the nomenclature is:

==Durian, lvl 1 Feral Human Rogue==
Hp 4 Def 0 Str 2 Act 3 Move 3 Mag 2
Skills: Ziegfried, Burkhard or Rabbitspaw needs to train. [FH] Speak Monster

Gear: Prisoner clothes, 4 daggers, 1 bomb, 2 keys

The Runner's Guild likely issue standard issue gear, but Ziegfried and Rabbitspaw worked together to acquire a Courier's Uniform + Teras Shard
>>45285655
>>45286045
so that might alter the basic clothes.

Rabata is a Tam Knight and the most adorable goddamn thing I've seen all morning. I think Kail needs to teach her/him a skill before we get any stats?

But stats should otherwise be:

==Rabata, lvl 1 Desperate Tam Knight==
Hp 6 Def 2+2s+2g (6) Str 2 Act 2 Mov 3 Mag 0*

Gear: Knight Sword (+2 atk), Knight Helmet (+2 Def), Knight Shield (+2 Def)

Skill: Kail needs to teach Rabate 1 Knight Skill.

*it's my understanding Tams are cute and also highly magical creatures, I am unsure if knight training turns them Aethernumb.

>teach Rabata a skill

"Alright... Where do I start ? I might not be the best teacher around but I now my shit when it comes to being a knight so... I can show you the ropes, I guess ?

Your shield is the most important part of your equipment. Care for it properly, and it will save your life. Look for splinters, bending, anything that could compromise its integrity.

Always be aware of the position of your enemies, and never turn your back on them. You might be tough, but you're not indestructible.

You work better along with your teammates. Other knights can watch back, the guides will keep you alive, the millitiamen can pump your armored problems full of lead, the mages can vaporize them, a'd the hunters and the rogues can provide you information, and protection against the enemies that try to outmaneuver you.

When you are fighting, draw an imaginary line in the sand. Behind it, there's your comrades. Your duty is to protect them from what's on the other side. You are a wall against the evils of this word, and a shining beacon of hope for your friends. I know it sounds like an imposing responsability. But you can do it. You're a tough girl, aren't you ?

But enough of my ramblings, let's get down to it, shall we ? The skill I'm going to teach you is called counter. For every hit you take, you'll learn to give one. Your enemies will crash against you harmlessly, and expose themselves to your counter attack. Here, try it. Shield raised, and sword at the ready.

[Loaded Ammo]
Skills: [I]Firing Solution, [I] Packed Round

-------

There's a few things I don't get. How does loading work -- do I load *before* a fight, or do I have to load in-fight? And does loading stack (e.g. can I spend two actions to use packed round *and* firing solution which I will then fire the next round) or does each load only apply to one shot? What is the difference between off-hand and off-hand handless equipment -- is it the difference between a dagger and irondrop? Oh, and does anyone actually use the character descriptions and backstories thing? For that matter, what's my PC's deal regarding the story-- do I just kind of wander in?

There's probably some other stuff I missed.
>>
>>45299593
You can start with your weapon loaded. Using your skills on a current load automatically adds the boost to your current loaded gun. You can add up to half your effective stats onto a gun's current load. Going over risks explosions.

Or you can reload with a skill. Doing so on a non-empty gun has that boost replace your current boosts.

Offhand refers to any equipment you carry besides your main weapon and armor. It can be handless, or like in the case of a Knight's Shield take up your other hand.

Ammo storage exists in a separate inventory space I see called the Ammo Pouch. You may carry up to 99 rounds of one type and 4 different types of bullets. without fringing on bag space.

Fluff is welcome and appreciated. Such things add flavor to a game which would otherwise be pretty dry.
>>
>>45299593
Your current GUN has an AMMO count. Using a [Load] action, you refresh all AMMO in the gun - with the effect of the LOAD you use. When you fire, that costs ammo and bullets.

So your Blunderbuss has 1 shot, because it has 1 ammo, and it'll fire 1 4 AP Irondrop. But it's not all bad being a one shot militia, Loads stack.

So you could:
[Turn 1]
>Load Packet Round
>Load Firing Solution

Your blunderbuss is now rng 5, damage 5 ap
( +1 damage, +1 rng)

[Turn 2]
>Move NNN
>Fire at Target XXX

[Turn 3]
>Load Packed Round
>Fire at target YYY
---

Other guns will have more or less ammo, and Loads stack across the entire magazine. So if you get a 2 ammo gun and use Packed Rounds once, you get +1 damage per shot.

So you want to be very careful when you shoot, because you have very low ammo - but when you do shoot you blast clean through armor (armor piercing) and do a minimum of 4 damage.

And yes, you just kinda wander in and join the Wyrd Hunt. Welcome abord Capitan. Good luck!

Ziegfrieddy and Rabbitspaw knows three rogue skills in combination-combined. Rabbitspaw will teach how to Throw Anything, and then Ziegfried can teach arts of stab-steal.

Rabbitspaw was told by Dove that he was too worried to hold knive-daggers. Is not sure. When throwing knifes, not being sure is best. So watch Rabbitspaw throw this knife, Durian, yes? But is trick. Don't watch Rabbitspaws knife. Watch target. Is not about how you throw or what you throw-fling, is about who you throw at. Is trick. Hands shake, knives swerve and target moves. Can be anywhere. Maybe dodge, maybe duck, maybe run for cover. Maybe stand still. Can't be sure.
So clever-trick is to put knife where target will be, not where target is or target were. Throw into future! Pinch blade with fingers, then flick. Not-no where you want knife to go, but where target-hitzone will go. Then you put knife there so when target arrives, knife is already waiting. And if you pinch-hold with fingers and spin-whirl with spine and dance with feet, is no difference between knife-rock-guard-Jackie!

Only don't throw Jackie, is leader and nice.

The Master sword doesn't give Thunderstrike, that's the Martyr's Sword which wasn't on the original list at all.

Lvl[?] Martyr Sword.
1Handed.
+3Atk / Slashing

Memory of
[Thunderstrike] [1 Breath] - Using Breaths+Mag +Hp , one can add power to the next hit. It is a Tap action to prime the blade like so. Strike true lest Vidofnir's blessing is used for naught.

Thanks, that really clears stuff up.

When you fire all your [AMMO], replacement ammo will not share the buffs that were applied to the previous shot, correct? Furthermore, can you apply the same [load] to the same shot more than once?

Oh yeah -- and is this whole thing run by a drawfag, or is it all from something else, because holy shit is there a lot of good art here.
>>
>>45301040
It's all run by Monday who draws art for a living I think.
>>
>>45301040
Correct, on both accounts. Once your gun is empty your boosts are considered spent. You can boost your current loaded ammo multiple times, up until half the stats of your gun and ammo. So a 6 range gun can be boosted by +3 and a 4 damage ammo can be boosted by +2.

And yes its a drawfag running the show.

Thanks, anons, that makes sense. One last (lore-related) question; would it be acceptable to be from a ruined runner band (I wouldn't play it full tragic-sue, I swear!), and if so, what would it be ruined by? Volgon, monsters?
>>
>>45301226
Sure, that works as a backstory. As to what killed 'em how about Outsiders? Given we are the Wyrd Hunt we've been earning a bit of a reputation as a group who deals with that sorta thing.

>No Friendly Fire

I'm not someone who dictates other builds but be /very/ careful, you can't shoot through allies without Friendly Fire, and a shot in the back from even the starting stuff will splatter most classes and seriously injure the rest.

Friendly Fire means you can stand behind your front line and not worry about having to check and double check everyone's movement before you fire.
>>
>>45301325
I don't want to hassle the new guy, Sarge, but why do you think his former runner band got ruined...
>>
>>45301325
Yes, I was wondering about that. I wasn't sure which would be preferable; packing both damage and range, or gaining increased options for firing (i.e. being able to fire at people that would otherwise be blocked by PCs). D'you think replacing Firing Solution with Friendly Fire is the better choice? I like damage.
>>45301361
It got ruined because "El Gran Capitán" *didn't* fire, actually. Because he's a coward, and he's only seventeen. He's not even the real Great Captain.
>>
>>45301449

Personally, I feel that Firing Solution and Packed Round are fairly interchangeable as far as skills go, both of them I would put into the category of 'Stuff that is good to have'. So go with swapping out Firing Solution with Friendly Fire if you wish.

>Burkhard's Personal Militia Tier List

>Mandatory Tier - Friendly Fire.
>Good Filler Tier - Packed Round, Firing Solution.
>Needs Gear First Tier - Spread Shot.

Oh yeah; can preloaded ammo have packed round applied to it, so you start the fight with ATK +6 shot loaded in? Or do you have to apply that in-fight?
>>
>>45301819

Yes, you can stack the buffs from both packed round and firing solution to a point, and that point was I think just below double the damage of the ammo, or double the range of the gun.

I'm not sure what happens if you go beyond that, but I gathered it would involve blowing off one or both of your hands if you attempted to fire the gun.
>>
>>45301869
Oh no, I got that from your other answer -- I was confused about whether preloaded ammo (ammo that's already loaded in your gun as soon as you start the fight) could be pre-buffed (i.e. if it could have the +2 bonus as soon as you enter the fight, without having to manually apply it).
>>
>>45301927

Ohhh right you mean /before/ the floor starts?

To answer that question, I don't think so, though I've never actually tried it myself. I'll ask just to make sure.

>>45298652

Monday can we do that?
>>
>>45301978
Isn't that a bit like cheating? It could probably have a +1 as you already start with the gun fully loaded, and militia reload automatically give one bonus.

But if militia can preload their guns, mages can preload their spells. And guides can start with everyone channeled. That seems a little unfair.
>>
>>45302027

Yes, which is why I assume the answer is no on that score.
