PREVIOUSLY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Star+Wars%3A+Fortune+Hunter

Things had calmed down a little now that you were out of the fight and heading towards the planet of Alpheridies. The planet itself appeared to be covered in white, and not clouds. It was snow, like Rhen Var. So this is where the Miraluka come from. It honestly doesn’t look too special to you. Still, it appears there’s no Imperial fleet or any cruisers orbiting the planet that your sensors can scan, which means it’s free to land on.

First things first, you have to address the freeloaders. First, Sergeant Grymsley and his squad. “We’re grateful that you saved us, Cykgil,” says Grymsley. The lot of you stand around in the machine shop, where Misri is busy admiring Kublai and MadClaw’s weapons. Showoffs. “Once we land on Alpheridies, we’ll be sure to inform the Admiral what you did for us, even if we are only just Stormtroopers.”

“Thanks, Grymsley.” He nods at that. “But listen, once we do land, we should go our separate ways, I don’t think the Admiral will like it if he knows I’m here.”

He nods again. “Understandable.”

And as for Kublai and MadClaw, when you approach them, they look up and grin at you. “Don’t give me that look,” you say. “I don’t intend on having freeloaders like you two on my ship for very long. You’re only here because we have no quarrel with each other and I can’t be bothered to throw you off myself.”

“Relax!” Kublai waves you off, smirking toothily. “Me and Maddy here on the level! Once we find or steal a new ship, we’ll be outta your hair and out of your mind, boy.” MadClaw snorts in agreement you think. “But as long as we’re here, maybe we can talk finance…?”

“No.”

“Alright,” he says, defeated. He looks over at Misri. “As for you, little lady. I think you have the right… disposition for being a bounty hunter.”

“Really?” Misri hands MadClaw’s bowcaster back to him. “You think so?”

“Don’t go poaching my crew,” you say.

“Just saying.” Kublai laughs a little. “We could make this dynamic duo into a triumphant trio!” MadClaw nods, roaring happily. Misri smiles at you, obviously enjoying having the chance to travel with bounty hunters. But you shake your head, and she sighs in defeat.

Lev walks over to you, having come from the cockpit. “Sir. We are ready to land on Alpheridies on your command. We have detected the Dreadnaught through surface scans.” He holds up a holoprojector, and it shows a Dreadnaught cloven in two embedded in what appears to be an ice block. “However, it is encased in ice, it appears that it has been there for some time. Scans indicate that there are Imperial workers currently busy attempting to free it from the ice.”

“Alright,” you say. “Well uh…”

The landing is a bit unstable thanks to the constantly shifting and freshly laden snow. You’ve landed in a light snowfall, which if Lev is correct, will pick up later in the day. You’d like to explore when there’s not a whole lot of weather to stop you but you appreciate that time is precious now. Getting a good look at the ship now versus having to wait until Admiral Reike files through it perhaps a week later is better. You zip up your heavy coat and pull on your flight helmet and bring up a mask and a scarf for warmth. You’ve elected to bring everyone for now.

Well, everyone except Misri.

“Why do I have to stay?” she asks incredulously.

“I need someone to watch the ship with the droids,” you say. “It’s alright, we’re only going to be gone for a couple of hours. Besides, you got Sparks.” You motion to Sparks as he sits down in the cargo bay. Sparks currently is juggling Kublai’s rubber ball on his head, trying to make it stay. But he fails and it bounces off onto the floor. And in a kneejerk reaction, Sparks chirps as he jumps and flips over end over end trying to get it, knocking over crates and spare scrap parts to get at it. He whines, now on his front and unable to turn back over. “See?”

She crosses her arms. “Come on! I’ve never seen snow before!” she whines. … Really? Actually, now that you think about it, it is too warm on Coruscant for regular snowfall. Actually, you can’t remember if you brought Misri anywhere snowy. No, no, she can’t come now. “Come on, I promise, I’ll stay with the group, I won’t cause trouble!”

[1/2]

>>45282959
[2/2]

Kuvasz steps closer to you, adjusting his gauntlets. “Something the matter?”

“Uncle Kuvasz, tell Rhys to let me come with you all!” Misri whines. “I mean, I got a weird feeling okay? I feel like I should just come down and explore with you all! We’ve left the ship with just the droids before, is it really so different now?”

He looks over at you. “I won’t argue with you about it, but I actually would suggest that you stay here, Misri.” Misri frowns deeply. “It’s dangerous, Alpheridies is not a planet I’ve ever been to before, there could be all manners of monsters and what not lurking in the snow.”

Lev chimes in. “Actually, sir. Our sensors are not picking up any significant sentient life besides what we assume to be Imperial workers. There is even a distinct lack of bacterial life within a large area where we have landed.” Really?

Misri tugs on your sleeve. “Come on, just this, and I won’t ever ask anything of you again. I’ll even stop playing around with-“ She looks at the Stormtroopers whom are heading down the boarding ramp. “… you know what?”

With a caveat of "you will obey everything we say without question, and come heavily armed".

We need to get custom armor for her. As often as we run into the need for it, perhaps some Stormtrooper armor? At least shaped like it. See if we can get something that looks just like it, but is of higher quality.

“Alright. You can come.” She grins, but she immediately drops it when you place your hands on her shoulders, staring her straight in the… eye wraps. “But listen. There’s someone after you. They know you can use the Force. I’m taking you with me because it’s safer with me than here on the ship. Alright?”

She nods, sternly. “Okay.”

“Good. Get a coat on.” She nods, hurrying to find herself some winter clothes. You look at Kuvasz. “… what are you looking at?”

“Nothing,” he says. He pats you on the back, moving to the boarding ramp. “Don’t worry, Misri will be in safe hands.” He grabs your disruptor rifle off a rack then throws it to you. You take it and sling it under your arm.

The only thing worse than this weather was probably your average day on Jabiim. The snow was up to your knees almost, and visibility was poor. You couldn’t see past fifteen or twenty meters almost. But at least you had your flight helmet on, was keeping the snow out of your eyes and keeping them from going snowblind. Coming with you was Kuvasz, Vikker, Misri, Kublai and MadClaw, and the three Stormtroopers.

Actually, speaking of the Stormtroopers. “We’re going to stick with you for now,” says Sergeant Grymsley. “Weather’s a bit choppy, we’re not equipped for the snow.”

“Fine,” you say. “Come on.”

All of you begin trudging through the snow. Misri in particular is hugging herself even despite the winter clothes she has on. “Breezy!” she yelps. Kublai laughs, slapping her on the arm. She squeaks in pain, glaring at him. “Don’t do that!”

Kublai licks his teeth, looking up at you. “You know where we’re going?”

“Of course,” you say as you lead the pack. You pull up your holopad and take a look at the map of the area. It’s crude, thanks to the weather, but thankfully it’s only a half kilometer away towards the Dreadnaught. Problem is, map isn’t recording height or depth, or anything really particularly useful. This thing could lead you off a cliff if you aren’t careful. Curse this weather interference. All of you continue shoving your way through the snow.

Something else was bothering you though. Everything felt quiet. Even the falling snow around was silent. The only thing that was keeping you company was the sound of Kublai and MadClaw joking around, your boots crushing snow, and your panting breath. It was like this entire place was devoid of life.

Vikker tugs on his scarf, grumbling a bit. “You know, Rhys.” You look over at him, annoyed. “If you had told me earlier we’d be trudging through snow like this, I’d have just stayed on Smuggler’s Haven.” You roll your eyes. “Just saying. Me and mine aren’t exactly cold type of people.”

“That’s fair, Vikker, and I will tell you now in the most polite manner possible to stop whining.” He chuckles a bit at that, clicking his tusks together. Misri rubs her hands together, looking around at all the snow falling around her. Snow was a pretty common occurrence on Jabiim, aside from rain of course. You never really saw what was so special about it. Seeing Misri be entranced by it was an interesting experience. Almost made you feel like a kid again.

Then again, you wonder if you were ever a kid in the first place.

“There!” says Grymsley. He points ahead to some flashing lights in the distance. “That must be where your Dreadnaught is.”

“Alright,” you say. “Just be sure to-“ You feel a rumble under your boots, then shout to everybody. “Stop!”

“Wh-…” Misri looks around at everyone, frozen in place. “What is it?”

You gently feel your foot around. Yep, you’re on a slope. This is a very unstable snowdrift, and you could probably risk a small avalanche. You look to your left, towards where the slope is going downwards, and find nothing past the intense fog. Grymsley, Kuvasz, Vikker, and everybody else stares at you, intent on seeing if you have a plan for this. “We’re on an unstable patch of snow. Any of us makes the wrong move, we get swept down and buried.”

Going in any direction now, you’ll probably start an avalanche.

“Misri, you first.” She nods, slowly walking through the snow. She’s the lightest of all of you here. So it makes sense to send her first. Once she feels she’s clear, she fires off a liquid cable to the group to help them along. “Vikker, then the Stormtroopers.”

“What about you?” asks Vikker.

“I got rocket boots, remember?” you ask. He nods, taking the cable and pulling himself out of the snowpack. Next go the Stormtroopers. Then Kublai and MadClaw. You can’t tell how much time is passing considering the stress of the situation. Feels like an hour, but it’s probably more like a few minutes at best. Finally, everyone is out and across. That just leaves you and Kuvasz. “Alright, Kuvasz, you go.”

He nods, saluting as he grabs Misri’s cable and pulls himself along. Suddenly, you feel the weight of the snow shift out under you. Bad, bad, bad. You activate your rocket boots and fly up and over to everyone. When Kuvasz feels the snow shifting around him, he too activates his jetpack and flies over to the group. The two of you land in the snow in front of everyone, nearly piled atop one another. Well, these rocket boots Jennis sold you work great at least. “Haha!” You grin, your heart racing. That was close.

You look over the side of the slope that it drastically drops down. And the bottom you can’t even see. That was really close.

Well, at least you made it. “Come on.” Misri grabs your arm, immediately scared of the snow now. “Let’s move.”

As you approach the ice block containing the wrecked Dreadnaught, a pair of Imperial speeders come by to intercept you all. You must have gotten their attention with that snow drift thing. They stop up, and a squad of snowtroopers come to greet you. “Halt. State your business.”

Sergeant Grymsley comes around you. “I’m Sergeant Grymsley, 41st Stormtrooper Corps. I’m taking these people to this compound, they’re scientists looking to help investigate the Dreadnaught.”

The snowtroopers all look at each other. “I wasn’t informed of this,” says the lead one.

“Communications are choppy, the Veil Waystation is currently under attack, I was told to evacuate these people here.” He making up a story for you? That’s nice of him.

“Alright,” says the leader. “Get on our speeders. We’ll help you out.”

As you walk, you talk with Sergeant Grymsley. “Why did you just lie?”

“This is a restricted area, they’d have shot you on sight,” he whispers. “And you did save my life. It’s the least I could do.” Oh. Fair enough.

They take you into the compound, where prefabricated labs and buildings have been set up around the iceberg holding up the wrecked Dreadnaught. Scav droids are floating out and around, chopping off select pieces of ice while snowtroopers patrol around the area. You’re all dropped off as everybody takes in the sight. “Have you found a way in?” you ask.

“No, sir,” says one of the snowtrooper. “We’re having trouble getting through the thick armor, most of its frozen over. We have to rely on droids for now to get us through.” Great.

“Stand aside. I’ll find us a way in.”

You grab Misri, then rocket up the ice patches towards the top of the ship. A few scav droids follow with you. As you land, you gently feel around the floor beneath you. Yep, the ice has indeed frozen over considerably. “Alright, I got an idea.” You unsling your disrupter, then charge it to full power. You aim down at the floor, then fire, melting away a sizable portion of the ice.

And you wonder why disruptors are illegal.

The scav droids immediately start drilling through the metal of the hull. You remember how Trandoshan pirates and mercs used these droids to raid Republic ships during the Clone Wars. Those drills can break through the finest durasteel given time and patience. Pretty soon, they have a hole in. You, Kuvasz, and Misri drop down inside, then cast light in around the dark hallway you’ve been put in.

Misri shivers, a bit. “Cold?” you ask.

“A bit,” she says. “But not in the way you think.” Now that you think about it, it still feels cold. And yet… it wasn’t the kind of cold you were familiar with. You start walking down the hallway, then quickly bring up a map of the ship. The thing about Dreadnaughts was that their bridges were closed into the ship’s superstructure itself, which meant having to cross through hallways, abandoned elevator shafts, and rusting corridors until finally, you get to the bridge. It was blocked off by a block of ice and what you assume to be a high security door.

No problem. You fire off another shot with your disruptor rifle, blasting the ice away. The scav droids following you move in, tearing up the door behind the ice. The door collapses, allowing you three to move in.

“Agh!” Misri nearly trips over the skeleton of what was once a crewmember. You hope that guy died on impact or the virus. It’d be terrible to land on this wasteland with no hope of survival.

You break open a maintenance panel. “Yep, just as I thought,” you say. “Wires are frozen solid.” You bang on them on them with your fist a bit. “Nav logs might be dead.”

“What do we do then?” asks Kuvasz.

“Try and activate a computer, hope we can patch through.” You walk over to the command console at the Captain’s Chair. “These Dreadnaughts are built to last you know, so we should be okay.” You tap a button, then find it not working. Ugh. Why didn’t you bring R5 out here? Misri leans over, then pulls out a few tools from her toolbelt. “What are you doing?”

“Getting the power on,” she says. She breaks open a panel beneath the console, then leans in and starts fiddling with the wires. “Give me a second…” Finally, a spark of life. The console turns on. “There we go!”

“How’d you do that?” you ask.

“I wired it to my holopad’s battery,” she says. “Be quick. I don’t think this thing has a lot of life left.” You plug your holopad in, then search for the navigation logs. In a few short seconds, you find them, then hurry to download them onto your holopad. “You know, um. Since we’re here, Rhys.”

“What is it?” She bites her lip, shrugging. “Go on.”

“This planet feels a bit strange,” she says. “It’s not like… like I can’t really hear a lot of things happening. You know, lot of stuff happens, I can hear it fine. But here it’s like… it’s way too quiet you know? Did something bad happen here?”

“There were stories passed around when I was in Flight School,” you say. “About Admiral Reike taking a fleet of cruisers during the end of the Clone Wars and speeding through the Veil. The few people that were there said that Reike laid waste to the planet and killed almost everybody that was here. The remainder were captured or fled,” you state simply. “It wasn’t a Base Delta Zero, if it was we wouldn’t be standing here. But this, it was something far worse.”

You sigh. “The Miraluka.” Her jaw drops, and she immediately grabs your arm, wanting you to say more. “I don’t much more than that. And it is nothing but rumor, Misri.”

“So this is my home planet then!?” She looks over at Kuvasz. He shrugs in response. “Is it?”

and i agree with that but on the otherhand i feel we are spoiling this girl way too much.

We give her a starfighter, droids, let her out of the frighter, and allowed her to practice the force and the jedi.

Not to mention just last post she promised not to ask us anything again.
>>
>>45286599
This is different. Misri has been a Coruscant slumbaby all her life and knows literally nothing about herself. Now she's on the surface of her race's home planet. She needs this for the sake of her identity. She's just been offered the opportunity to discover her true origins, and that is extremely difficult a feeling to deny.
>>
>>45286654
So we should pamper and spoil her because she has a great ass and risk getting all of us killed?
>>
>>45286599
I kind of want to have her get us in trouble just to slap her and tell her how much her stupid little needs have fucked over the entire crew.
That despite all the warnings she continued to act stupid and got the attention of the Eye when we could have gotten away without their notice.
>>
>>45286669
A great ass that hasn't even put out, at that.

We should space her and take Jennis.
>>
Does Misri really think after a planet had virtually the entirety of its population purged, and now whatever was not destroyed is now presumably covered in years worth of snow, that she will find anything in a span of time that won't get us caught?

That's a lot to presume. Either way, we're already here and are presented with the cleanest opportunity available to sate Misri's curiosity. Whether we leave now or leave later, we can never come back, so we might as well do it now and get it over with.
>>
>>45286925

>tfw the space battle is more than likely already over

>tfw the troopers on planet have probably reported that the science team that was sent has arrived

>tfw we do in fact have a deadline

I'm of the opinion that, had we plentiful amounts of time we could explore. But that simply isn't the case. This is a dangerous place to be caught on, and I'd rather be hated by Misri than either Hunted by the Inquisition or captured by them here.

Compounding this is the fact that a global extermination of life is not clean and is immensely destructive leaves very little, if anything of worth when added to likely decades of the elements and just plain degradation over time.

In either case we're not making friends. Maybe we'll explore -and- get off planet in time, maybe not. Maybe we'll leave and Misri will hate Rhys, maybe she'll understand if we explain to her, maybe not. But of all the maybes the least directly harmful one to us and our crew is to just leave.

Many or few, anon?
>>
>>45286925
Her curiosity is never going to be sated.

We tell her to give up on the force, she carries on. We tell her fucking inquisitors are probing our mind, she carries on.

As much as I love her, she's a fucking idiot, and nothing short of an actual inquisitor killing one of our crew (and probably us) to try and get her is going to stop her.
>>
>>45286248
>> Other. "Misri, you're a Force Sensitive Miralukan in restricted imperial space being hunted by an Inquisitor and what borders on an entire armada. If we're getting out of this we cannot stay here. I'm sorry, but please, you have to see how this will play out if we stay here too long."

She was blinded by PROMOTIONS then, she is wiser now.

>trusting anything Schteel says about his waifus

We haven't seen her since we blew up the inside of her ship and broke ties.

> “Fine. We’ll stay, but only for a little bit.”

“Misri. You are testing my patience.” She frowns, obviously a bit hurt at that. “But I will let you have an hour at most to explore.” She nods frantically, understanding. “There is someone after you, you have made a lot of requests of me lately. Please, let this be the last one for tonight, alright?”

“Yeah.” She smiles gently, taking your hand gratefully. “I understand.” You nod to the door, and she hurries out. You look over at Kuvasz, who continues to look at you with the same stern look a father would give to his son. “What are you looking at, tough guy?”

“Personally, I believe you are making the right decision, risking it to allow Misri a bit of closure on who she is,” he says. “I won’t say no more on the topic.” Fine, but if it’s the right decision to risk your skin over something as insignificant as this, you’re not sure what’s right anymore, damn it.

-

-

With that, you sat in the machine shop, watching Lev assemble the final pieces on the tracker necessary to calculate the next destination of the Katana Fleet. “Sir, if I may ask.” You nod. “What will be the plan once we get the next destination?”

“If we’re still working for the Empire by then, it’ll be deploying Interdictors I hope,” you say. “Lot of gravity well generators, we stop up the Fleet, turn everything off, salvage what’s useful, pulls what ships that are intact into the Imperial Fleet.” You smile a little. It is quite a simple solution to a big problem. Only someone like you could have thought of that. You bring up your comm-link. “Vikker. How’s Misri doing?”

[1/2]
>>
>>45289502
[2/2]

“Still scanning the horizon,” he says. “Nothing to note.” You sigh. Can’t believe you’re wasting time like this. You stand up, then note the Stormtroopers still here.

“Grymsley.” He looks over at you. “You know, you three didn’t have to stay with us.”

“We owe you,” he says. “We’ll be here until our superior relieves us.” Great. As nice as it is hanging out with the Stormtroopers, you don’t want them on your ship all the time. Goodness knows you were sick of them as a Cadet.

“I found something!” says Misri over the comm-link. “Land the ship! I’m going to land mine!” You command Dodger and Wilco to land the ship, and in a few short minutes, all of you come charging out of the boarding ramp. Misri’s new N-1T has landed, and she’s already rushing off. “This way!”

“Misri, wait!” you yell. Kublai chuckles a bit, happy to be chasing something apparently as you all follow Misri.

And you follow her into the wrecked remnants of a town. The only things that remain are the skeletal remnants of what would have been houses, stores, schools. Judging by the wood and stone left over, this town must have stood for quite some time before whatever happened. Misri walks through the center of town, in awe. You sigh. “Okay, Misri,” you say. “You found-“

“This is where I was born,” she says. “I-… it’s coming to me. I can sort of remember this.” You roll your eyes, walking up to her. “Wait, over there!” She hurriedly jogs over to one of the bigger burnt out houses. “Yeah… this was my family’s house. It feels so familiar. It’s all coming to me now.” She smiles happily, a few tears dripping out from under the eyewraps. “Yeah. This is home.”

A wrecked, burnt out home.

She kneels down, then sweeps a bit of snow and frost to reveal a crest, a family symbol of lineage. It was just like the one on her necklace. “What are you doing?” you ask.

She presses down on it, and it pushes down. The crest glows blue, apparently a secret compartment only for Force wielders maybe. With a loud click, the crest splits in two sliding into the floor to reveal a secret compartment. She pulls out a small box, and opens it up.

And inside was nothing more than a glowing green crystal. “What is it?” you ask.

“Close up that box, Misri.” She looks up at you, confused. “I will explain everything but that crystal remains secret between you and me, got it?”

She nods, placing the box underneath her jacket. “Alright, I got it.”

“Rhys!” Vikker calls to you as you all turn around. Everyone manages to catch up with you finally. “What happened, did you find anything?” You take a look at Misri, a very knowing look. One that says to lie.

She shakes her head. “No, no we didn’t find anything.”

“Really?” He snorts. “What a waste of time then.”

“I wouldn’t call it that,” says Kuvasz.

Your comm-link beeps. It’s Lev calling you. “Sir, our sensors are picking up an incoming ship. It is an Imperial Nu-class shuttle.” Oh no. You see the incoming searchlights of an approaching ship. “It is close sir, I would advise hiding.”

You’re about to make a run for the ship when Grymsley stops you. “Let us handle this. We’ll stall them.” The shuttle breaks the clouds, shining a light on the Stormtroopers as you all make to hide in wreckage and rubble all over the town. It slowly lands down in the center of town, knocking over a few buildings through sheer shock alone. Then out of the front ramp comes the man in black armor himself. The Emperor’s Eye, backed up by the Sisters. “My Lord.”

“Where are they?” he demands.

Grymsley and the Stormtroopers look at each other, mock confusion. “We don’t know what you mean, sir. We just escaped from-“ From the Emperor’s Eye’s helmet comes a red light. Grymsley and the Stormtroopers are suddenly engulfed in a glaring red flash. The all freeze, writhing and twitching. “S- Sir!”

Honestly the Inquisition is mostly incompetent save for a few notable examples. Unfortunately the Eye is not one of them, he can't tell Rhys is Force Sensitive despite standing across a table from him, he only felt when Misri fucked about with it in the ship, he can't sense the subtle.

>>

From his actions on the station, it did appear that he could not get a current lock on Misri because she wasn't using her power at the time.

We're on a restricted planet in high security space, and a girl at the top of the Imperial Genocide List whines about not being taken with us, whines about wanting to know about the planet and her "identity," then uses the space magic that she's been repeatedly told is stupidly dangerous to get a goddamn nightlight that puts us even higher on the shitkicking list, and then as a result of all that the Inquisition shows up and murders three otherwise loyal soldiers.

It IS her fault.

Can I just say that Misri's desire to explore this planet is completely reasonable. Our desire to get the fuck out of here was completely reasonable. Allowing Misri to have a short time on the planet to discover something about her past was a reasonable compromise. The fact that people died was horrible, but let's not blame ourselves/Misri for the actions of the emperor's Eye. Instead, let's focus on escaping and ultimately how we'll fight the Eye when he inevitably turns up again to get Misri.

> Call Lev to land in the town, forget running for the ship.

“Lev, grab the fighter, get over here!” he whispers.

“Yes, sir.”

All of you keep ducked down behind a rubble pile. You hear the roar of engines as the Lion’s Share arrives, along with Sparks. The three black armored goons look up, then draw their lightsabers. Sparks drops down into walker mode, drawing his laser cannons out of the bottom of his hull and blasting at them. The Lion’s Share backs it up with a blast from the underbelly E-Web and the underslung Turbolaser cannon. The Inquisitors run for cover, except for the Emperor’s Eye. He deflects every shot thrown at him. Even the Turbolaser shots simply evaporate into sparks of energy and flame all around him.

That’s your cue. “Come on!” You grab Misri and hurry towards the arriving Lion’s Share. Kublai, MadClaw, Kuvasz, and Vikker hurry behind you.

“Get out there!” yells the Emperor’s Eye. The Inquisitors draw their sabers again. The hilt guards split into a circle, and their lightsabers start spinning like horrific buzzsaws as they pursue you. Sparks shrieks, firing at the both of them as they charge at you. But they simply deflect and absorb the shots from his laser cannons.

Kuvasz stops, turning around. “Go! Go!” he yells. What!? He draws his blaster rifle and fires at them. They stop, deflecting his shots as he advances on them.

“Kuvasz!” Misri screams. Kublai and Vikker grab her and pull her onto the Lion’s Share. MadClaw is next to climb up, and they shout to you. “No! No!”

>>
>>45291315

You look back to see Kuvasz dropping his blaster rifle on the ground then drawing his dual WESTARs. The Inquisitors lock hands together, then flip around and push their hands in your direction. Something pushes you, Kuvasz, the Lion’s Share, and Sparks backwards. Sparks topples over backwards, stunned. That just leaves the Lion’s Share to hold back the Emperor’s Eye.

And Kuvasz to hold back the Inquisitors. They slash and hack at him, and not like the old man he is he dodges and jumps around. They chop his blaster pistols in half, and in response he punches Lefty in the face and kicks Righty in the gut. They spin up their lightsabers again, charging at him. “Go!” he yells to you.

> Run in and help him.

Ugh, why do you have to be a hero, Kuvasz!?

You sprint towards him. He looks back, but immediately dodges getting decapitated by a sweeping strike. You fire a disruptor shot, and Righto hops over and deflects it away. You sling your disruptor and draw a booma straight from the Gungan depths. “Duck!” you yell. Kuvasz ducks down, and in Lefty’s face she receives a booma to the face. The plasma splatters all over her mask, and she screams in pain as she tries to wrestle it off.

“Sister!” screams Righto. She charges at you two, slashing and cutting at you two. Your quick reflexes and the desire to not die are really keeping you well alive right now. Kuvasz hurries to punch her in the gut with his wrist-mounted blade, then grab her neck and throw her to the ground.

Lefty throws her mask off, and in the darkness of the fight you can’t even see her face. But you can hear her for sure. She grabs her chest, apparently in phantom pain, then charges you two again. This time, she manages a lucky slash on Kuvasz’ arm.

“Argh!” He slashed up the arm, thankfully not having it be cut off entirely. Lefty screams as she spins up her blade, ready to finish him. But you blast her in the chest, knocking her to the ground. You and Kuvasz look back to see the Emperor’s Eye still fighting off laser fire from the Lion’s Share and a now reformed Sparks. They continue firing and firing until finally Lev fires off a barrage of concussion missiles. Not at him. But at his shuttle. He is engulfed in the explosion that follows, which sets the entire town alight.

“Sir, reinforcements are coming,” says Lev. “We must leave.”

Kuvasz holds his arm, groaning in pain. “You alright, old man?” you ask.

“Agh, it’s not bad,” he says. “Let’s get-“ You blink, then dodge out of the way. But not in time to save Kuvasz. The Emperor’s Eye’s lightsaber slashes him across the chest, knocking him to the ground, out cold.

“Kuvasz!” you yell. He groans, then his head rocks back. You hurry to kneel beside him, the slash created a huge gash across his chestplate. You quickly feel for a pulse.

And thank goodness you find it, faint but he’s alive. You look over to see the Emperor’s Eye as he marches straight towards. His lightsaber comes back to his hand as he approaches you. He pushes the air again, this time sending the Lion’s Share and Sparks back a few feet before they can fire at you. He stands over you, his single cyclopean red eye shining an intense, hot, red light on you. He holds up his lightsaber, and you’re about ready to blast him.

“That’s enough!” You all look over to see Admiral Reike storming through the snow, Stormtroopers following after him. “Stand down, boy!” He points to the Emperor’s Eye. “Right now!”

The Emperor’s Eye steps back, disengaging his lightsaber.

… did the Admiral just save you?

Admiral Reike stands behind you, intense glare on his face. “Look at this mess. First we have rebels attack my Waystation and then the Consortium corrupting and bribing my guards and my soldiers!? Now you think you can just kill like you want-“ He points to you, storming into the Emperor’s Eye’s face. “I need him. You put a single hair out of place on him, and I will see to it you suffer, -boy-.” He can do nothing except nod slowly. He turns to you. “… well.” He looks up at the Lion’s Share, and at Sparks, who quickly shakes off a head of snow. “You owe me, son.”

“Who?” he quirks his brow.

“The Stormtroopers, I helped them escape, they tried to stall for my escape, the Emperor’s Eye killed them,” you explain.

“I see.” He nods slowly, rubbing his chin. “Well, there is no shortage of patriots, I am sure you understand that. There will be more like Grymsley in our ranks soon enough. He’s replaceable is what I mean. We have clones, we have conscripts and recruits to fill his void ten times over.” He points to you. “But you are not.” He points to the Emperor’s Eye as well. “And neither is he.” The Sisters groan a little, getting up to their feet. “Girls, come here.”

They look at each other, frightened a little. “Sir-“

He points to the ground, not having it. “Come. Here.” They nod, hurrying over to his side. “This is the last time I loan you my Inquisitors for your little escapades, boy.” The Emperor’s Eye seethes, nodding slowly. “Remember what you owe me. And I will let you go on living. Return to your home, boy, and think about what has transpired, and what you still owe me.” The Emperor’s Eye nods. “… you can –walk- home.”

After a moment, he nods again, then turns around and starts walking past the wreckage of his ship. You smirk, a little bit of justice today you guess. He look to you, a squint to his eye. “Get to your ship. We’ll have doctors heal your friend here. You can rest aboard the Redeemer for the night, but tomorrow morning I want a full report of everything that you have. You didn’t come here just to sightsee.”

The medical droids informed you that Kuvasz would recover from his wounds nicely, but he will have to spend the night in the Bacta tank. That meant Vikker had no one to argue with as he sat alone on the sofa in the common room. Dodger and Wilco together were playing a game of dejarik with Lev. And to Lev’s consternation, he lost. And to that, he ripped the dejarik board off the floor and tossed it and all the pieces to the ground, then stormed to the cockpit.

You however, stepped into the cargo bay, and saw Misri gently wiping Sparks’ hull. “Misri.” You step down the catwalk steps to her. She continues wiping, not looking at you. “Misri, look at me. Listen, I think you understand that what happened today was your fault. I won’t punish you but-”

She turns around, and you find her cheeks soaked with tears. Her shoulders shake as she bites her lip. For a second, just for a second, you almost feel like the worst person in the world. Almost. “I’m sorry,” she whispers. She sniffles, then takes the box out from her jacket. She hands it to you. “… take it. I don’t want it.” You blink. What? “I won’t the Force anymore, I promise. >Turbolasers were the primary weapons of capital ships. They were used for ship-to-ship combat or, in some cases, planetary bombardment. A single blast from a turbolaser could completely incinerate a fully shielded starfighter; however, due to their slow turret traverse and an equally slow period of charging up and cooling down, using turbolasers against fighters proved to be highly ineffective because fighters were too fast and small for a good target lock due to a slower rate of fire than point-defense laser cannons.

> Let her keep it.

You place your hands on the box, then gently push it back towards her. She gasps a bit, still shuddering and shaking. “Misri, you made your decision. Own up to it.”

“But-“

“No buts,” you say. “This is yours, this is your family’s. I can’t take that from you.” She looks down at the box, then over at Sparks. He quietly chirps at Misri, nodding to her, then to you. “You have to be careful with this.” She nods. “No more games, alright?”

“No more games.” She sniffles a little, rubbing more tears out of her face. “I will, I’ll take care of it.”

“You better.” You place your hands on your belt, looking down at the floor. What do you say? How can you stop her from doing this? Can you stop her from learning the ways of the Force? What would she do if she really became a Jedi? With a heavy sigh, you decide to say this. “Misri, I-“

She holds up her hand, stopping you. “Rhys. Thank you.” She immediately hugs you tight, pulling you close. Oh. Well. Alright then, you pat her on the back, nodding. She pulls away, then gently plants a kiss on your cheek. “You know you saved me in more ways than one letting me come with you away from Coruscant.” She punches your chest, stern and determined. “I’ll repay that, I will.”

“Like I said. You better.” You turn around, heading back to the steps up the catwalk. “Good night, Misri. Get some rest.”

She nods slowly. “Alright.” She looks down at the box in her hands, then slowly uncaps it to reveal the Kyber crystal still inside. It glows, and in some way, you can’t deny it. No matter how much you want to try and keep her as the same old mechanic she is.

The Force is calling to her.

1. They were doing the smart thing and not attacking Inquisitors or the Emperor's Eye who could easily best a few C-list bounty hunters. There wasn't a lot they could really do to help anyway.

2. Busy playing a game of sabaac in the machine shop with R5, R3, and R2.

>>45293267

You understand that power is super cost ineffective, and it doesn't work on lasers, right?

You'd be better off saying he just used the force to forcefully (kek) move the actual laser batteries to aim wrong and miss him, because there is actually no way he could tank the beams themselves.

>Tiring to sustain, it was inefficient in terms of the strain caused on the user's Force reserves, but was nevertheless effective in the right situation.

He for sure wasn't using it to dampen sustained turbolaser fire, even if it does turn out to work on lasers.

There's a specific reason the Emperor's Eye is the person he is. Though we'll go with that excuse instead since it makes more sense than mine.

I had planned on her appearing at Veil Waystation earlier but I ended up leaving her out. It would've been a slightly depressing appearance with her having lost her ship and her droids to gambling debts. Next time you see her though, she will have the ship. Hopefully.

>>45293480
They play some sabaac when there's nothing to do and Misri's fixing everything for them. They don't really play for money or parts or anything, just for the promise of being bathed by Misri. Occasionally Dodger and Wilco will join in, Sparks can't because he doesn't understand, and Lev is not allowed because he's a sore loser.

>>45293501
She doesn't understand how a lightsaber works, nobody understands how a lightsaber works except for those that use them, it's going to be pretty much trial and error.

>>45293576
>There's a specific reason the Emperor's Eye is the person he is.

Is it because you describe him as being more powerful than the Emperor himself as he was displayed?

:^)

I'm just fucking with you. Though I'd expect him to be an actually competent inquisitor rather than some godawfully powerful asshole, not that they have to be exclusive, but you get the idea. The only person here who has both faced lightsaber combatants on multiple occasions, and actually has been struck by one.

Also pretty basic for someone who is technologically inclined in the far future, or past, or whatever. It's a microreactor powering a magnetic field around a similarly powered bunch of plasma, which is really just superheated gas. Aside from the silly crystal, probably anyone could build one, actually.

Or it's jedi space magic light through a magic crystal, which is far more reasonable as to why not everyone and their grammama has one.

>>45293747
He works with the Inquisition, but isn't part of the Inquisition. He exists mostly as a tool for the Emperor to find Jedi within a certain area of the Galaxy that he patrols whom are actively using Force powers. The reason he couldn't find Dosann on Tython is because Tython is covered in dark side energy. Latent force users are detected but left alone because there's tons of latent force users in the galaxy and usually they don't pose a threat.

Natural saber crystals aren't necessary, Sith don't use them. The Jedi do/did because the crystals attune with their users and create a personal link to the weapon.

The Outer Rim is where careers go to die. You're stuck fighting pirates and rebels in areas where there's nobody important enough around to notice you. Your equipment is faulty and old Clone Wars surplus, your TIE Pilots occasionally have to use old ARC-170s or V-Wings which were retired years ago, and the recruits and soldiers you have to work with are backwater conscripts who are nearly worthless in a fight. It's not a fun post unless there's something important to guard.
>>
>>45294473
I think he was asking HOW Reike's snub hurt her politically. Which I can imagine boils down to him calling her out on being wasteful of resources, disrupting Coruscant's space trade, and letting personal feeling have her waste the Empire's time over something not really that important.
>>
>>45294507
That too.
>>
>>45294507
More or less. Rhys is now viewed as an important Imperial asset, and the fact that Lotte couldn't secure him but Reike could damaged her credibility.
>>
>>45294473
But didn't she have one of the most advance star destoryer in stock?

Though we did destroy her hanger, so are her troops stuck with ARC-170s and V-Wings?

>>
>>45294534
>Lotte couldn't secure him but Reike could damaged her credibility.
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that Lotte turned a useful Imperial privateer into a liability, and it was Reike that turned that liability back into an asset?

I do hope that Reike turns out to be intelligently evil.
He'll pay us our money, give us the promised access to the TIE prototypes, won't betray us at all, and he'll just continue genociding populations and killing people. And when he needs something recovered he'll offer Rhys a job.
