Eyegores watch across multiple systems as the Osjiic and Ahkam react to your decoy attacks.

Salvage and repair operations are well underway on the crippled Ahkam battlecruiser drifting ever closer to the upper atmosphere of the ice planet. It threatens to plummet to the frozen world below but ships of various size swarm the valuable ship attempting to prevent such a catastrophic occurrence. The communications in the system are a frenzy of rumor and guesswork. Your modest strike force evolving into a full enemy fleet in a matter of hours.

The Osjiic system your Ahkam decoys had attacked still reel in shock. All but two of their sub-capitols destroyed and those still mostly in one piece grounded until repairs and supplies could be ferried from off world. The troopers hunker down in the shell of their barely started outpost, soldiers manning turrets and weapons hastily salvaged from the wrecked craft. Their communications were sparse, only contacting the few Osjiic on patrol through the lightly forested continent.

Lights flash as a trio of blocky Osjiic ships, a pair of corvettes flanking a frigate, appear in the sky of the world hours later. Dropships descend from the craft as the survivors bring their injured to be taken away for proper medical treatment. Intercepted communications revealing they were but a patrol sent, by the Fleet you were tracking, to investigate the distress beacon. They speak of the Ahkam attack and the system they believe they fled to, a known Ahkam controlled agricultural world, and possible retaliatory strikes.

Across nearby systems your enemies recoil from your attacks, both believing the other to be the culprit so far. You realize your Armada was becoming more adept at this misdirection and you ponder how you can compel them further into conflict with each other.

You only had two days before they arrived. There was still much to do.

Completed Research:
>Beasts Parasites: The multitude of parasites living inside the Beast was quite staggering, most of them comprised of mostly worm-like creatures. These worms burrowed through the flesh of the Beast and living within it's veins. Ranging from only a few inches long to specimens several yards long the parasites exhibited a diversity of species. Many sported large mandibles dripping with a numbing venom and sported tough bristles that aided in their movement through dirt or flesh.

>Rukor Gorilla: A distant and less intelligent cousin to the Ructu natives this large beast is considered the apex predator of the land dwelling fauna, intimidating even kryssers that attempt to ambush them from the water. The creature can walk on all fours or its smaller hind pair to use their large forelimbs and powerful claws to break down trees or dig through clay and dirt in search of burrowing creatures. Omnivorous it can eat the various fruits and the occasional foliage of trees it brings down but seems to prefer fresh meat.

>Blue Algae: A thick algae like growth strangles several streams and rivers. Several abandoned ructu villages overgrown with a layer of the toxic slime dot the rivers. Fast-growing and gaining nutrients from nearly anything organic it's acids have caused many of the huts and building it overgrew to collapse as it ate the wooden supports.

Unlocked:

Devouring Swarm: A collective of meter long worm-like reconstructed that are little more than a mouth of powerful crushing mandibles and a stomach. Traveling in groups devouring swarms consume everything in their path chewing through flesh, plasteel and metal with equal zeal. Short-lived the worms only have an overwhelming drive to devour everything they can before they go inert and rigid, bloated on biomass and metal. The worms can then be collected and processed in a Cauldron for the biomass and metal they gathered. Cost: 80B

Bestial Strength: An adaptation that provides a marked increase in strength through denser and stronger muscle fibers made of flesh and metal. Denser bones provide an increased resistance to crushing damage. Cost: 2B

Wasting Sludge: A potent bioweapon the Wasting Sludge is a bright blue slime made up of a fast-replicating microorganism. Highly acidic and energetic the algae-like microorganism breaks down all manner of organic matter to fuel it's rapid life-cycle of replicating and consuming. While unable to do much damage to metal and inorganic matter the sludge is quite potent and can reduce flora and fauna to a pile of goo within minutes. While capable of minute bursts of movement to extend pseudopods in attempts to reach new feeding grounds it is unable to move at any speed under its own power. This requires it to be dispersed through the air either sprayed through a modified chemical thrower weapon or with an airburst explosive.

Now, I figure we'll have to temporarily pause work on our flagship to make those captiol ships, but we really should do that now. As awesome as it will be when it's finished, there's no way we can complete our flagship before our battle with them, but we could finish a squadron of capitol ships by then. Having a well rounded force to meet our enemies should take precedence here.

On Horizon's Drop your city grows by the day, towers and walls reaching up to the snow-heavy clouds. Smooth bone and pitted metal blend with the stone of the mountain range, steppes and landings carved with the skeletons of buildings being erected.

Your newest charge, the infant named David, was under constant watch from passing reconstructed. Talons would pause in their tasks and approach the overly stressed parents and infant. They would reach out with sharp claws carefully but always the mother would snap and lash out at the reconstructed sending them scurrying away.

The plainsrunners pause their pilgrimage to mourn the passing of the injured elder. Red-Leaf-Strains' heart weighs heavy with guilt, the dreamstone an even heavier burden. The old osogo would've lived several more full years on the plains if they had stayed to their normal ways. Red-Leaf-Strainss sisters stand by her side as they look at the cairn of mountain stone already covered in a layer of snow. They stay and mourn the deceased for some time until the youngsters begin to complain of the cold and the herd begins their trek once more in silence.

The ructu began to suffer in their burrows, their food-stores all but depleted. Their only saving grace was the kelp but it was not enough for the crustacean like natives. There was one brave or foolish or starved ructu fishing crew that tried to take their boat out in a seeming lull of the storms but they were not out for longer than an hour with land still well in view when a sudden swell of wind tosses their ship against a reef. The surviving ructu are brought home, clinging to the backs of stalkers and left on the wave battered shores.

There was much to be done and much to prepare for.

You know you will be entrenched in war soon and would need a larger fleet and force than what you currently possess. While already formidable they were still a far shadow of your ancient fleet. You speak to your Think Tanks and across several worlds and systems Cauldrons churn.

New pylons are constructed on Horizon's Drops moon and quickly set into motion assembling a new order of ships. Bunkers are dug deep and reinforced as dedicated Cauldrons begin crafting the absurd amount of missiles needed to stock the new defenses.

Fields of black and gray dishes of bone are lifted and turn on supports of bone and muscle to follow the sun on the barren polar ice caps of Horizons drop. Vats of fluid churn and bubble underneath as microorganisms reliant on the necrotic addiction replicate then crystallize into stout crystals harvested for the Fleet.

Deep below Agona's fortress on the Lavafathers moon the diggers had long ago punched into a cave with a potent mineral hotspring. Ignored until now the underground cavern is expanded and reinforced. Talons and Stonestars move through the carved channels, transplanting altered fungal-lichen buds that quickly take root in the hot water and begin to spread. Several hours later the new chitin-slugs are lead in and they begin to graze, the nubs of their shells ringing their bodies as the chitin started to grow.

New diggers and entropic excavators are spread throughout your mining operations, nearly tripling your former workforce. Many of the excavators are sent to the metal rich sister-moon to the Lavafathers or to the system the Necrolytes occupied.
>>
>>45365837
An alert from Agona distracts you from your task of building and managing resources and you quickly accept the diversion. A screen flickers to light on the Battlecruiser and you watch in confusion as it shows a pile of dark gray boulders. You were about to question Agona when the bulk shudders and lifts as one into the air.

Not a pile of boulders but a ship. The barest of skeletons for a flight-capable ship you look over a brief detailing of the planned ships with curiosity as the stone craft sails across the mountain tops flanked by a pair of Coffins. A central chamber held a molten core of an Obsidianborn war-construct. It's crystalline "brain" keeping the stone molten, providing both control and power for the craft.

The Warships would have dense metal bulkheads and sturdy stone for the hulls and weapons the Obsidianborn weaponcrafters were having a grand time designing. Among them a cannon to launch globs of molten stone and a flak weapon firing clouds of razor sharp stone.

Already the pylons of the Lavafather shipyard are in motion, moving metal, stone, and bone to craft the very first of true warships. The prototype craft twirls through the air, the mind of an ecstatic Obsidianborn screaming in joy as it swerves up suddenly, racing through the perpetual storm clouds. Finally it breaches the atmosphere and the voice of the Obsidianborn goes silent as it looks across the impossibly large gas giant looming over them and the star glittering in the distance.

You receive a personal message, short and informal, from the Lavafather.

"Thank you, my friend."

>Lavafather's forces have gained spaceflight

As the Obsidianborn ship returns to the shipyards for further upgrades and tune-ups it passes over a startlingly large mass of stonestars.

A mass-migration moves across the volcanic fields to the base of Agona's plateau fortress where they stop and wait as you feel the stonestars possessing your domination spikes begin to ascend the cliffs. Gargoyles circle over the collected stonestars as they count and inspect. Several hundred of the stone-armored echinoderms arrive carrying slug-leather packs or dragging sledges with egg-cases sealed in resin. They had no war-beasts, only flakeshells and an assortment of livestock.

Punisher Agona stands at the summit with the Obsidianborn emissary, the traitor stonestar leaders cowering before the powerful warrior. There was no need for a translator now, the domination spikes allowing the generals words to be understood as she gruffly spoke to them, "Have your people made their decision? We were able to convince the Lavafather to hold off as we waited," she says with hand resting on the hilt of her morningstar, the weapon easily outweighing a stonestar.

A single stonestar steps forth from the others, lowering it's body to the ground in a sign of supplication. The gesture is repeated by the other stonestar leaders as the shell of the first clacks solemnly, "We brought word to our people. Many wish to remain behind and fight. They have fled across the sulfur plains and plan to hole up there," the general folds her arms across her chest as Nails turn to speed off in search for the renegade aliens, "Those we brought...they wish for life even if we must leave our home. We submit to the whims of the Necrotic Armada..."

Far below the mass of stonestar supplicants lower themselves to the ground, mimicking the gesture as they reluctantly sign away their futures.

>Gained Traitor Stonestar clans: 540 Stonestars

>>45366289
uuuuuuhhh, I neither confirm nor deny this accusation
>>
>>45366591
You now have a large amount of Stonestar refugees to tend to and house. They are allowed to stay for now at the base of Agona's fortress but they will need somewhere to house those unable to join the Necrolyte Legion.

Of the 540 you gained only 350 of them are capable of warfare, many of them elderly, children or crippled from warfare already. Many at the hands and weapons of Agona's forces.

What would you like to do with your subjects?
>>
>>45366743
Can you give us some info on what kind of environment Stonestars are most comfortable in? If we're going to resettle these dudes off world we might as well keep an eye out for a decent virgin world we can turn into a colony for them. In the meantime, we could get our Necrolytes to train them in basic tactics, but seperately from the Stonestars loyal to the lavafather. Wouldn't want any fights breaking out.
>>
>>45366743
I'm thinking just integrate them with the Necrolytes.
>>
>>45366743

>>
>>45366932
>>45366743
Speaking of the mines of our main world, have we ever actually gone back and excavated our prison?
>>
>>45366814
They prefer warm and damp. mostly dark conditions because of their world. They can survive on drier worlds but it is irritating and leads to their sensitive skin drying out. The Stonestars already out and about have forgone their primitive stone and have switched to cauldron forged suits of chitin and metal plates that are kept moist and warm inside to keep them comfortable.

Ideally a world as close to the moon would be best though they can survive well enough if they stay underground in warm moist conditions.

Their diets consist mainly on livestock and harvested fungal-lichen but they can survive on synthetic versions that Dagger scientists have developed on the Clanship. The pirates have a sophisticated food processor system able to create a variety of processed foods to fit the dietary needs of many races since they consist of various alien races. These food processors can be made elsewhere, the daggers already making one on Horizon's Drop during their time in the Colony.

>>45366962
It became the basis of your underground bunker fortress. It was cleaned up and expanded with the Deep Rot being constructed in the heart of the mountain below the former prison.

Idea, skip drives work by jumping from gravity wells

With the power of the void we can manipulate gravity

What if we made a gravity well in front of a ship at an unchanging distance, then activate the skip drive to go to that well.
The ship would move but so would the will.

In theory we could have super fast skip ships that can go anywhere

Sorry if I'm bad at explaining. I'm not good with English

Punisher Agona looks over the stonestars gathered before her and grunts. A Think Tank whispers to her and she points a heavy finger at the traitor stonestars, "Your people will camp here until a place is prepared for you. You will be joining our Lord Jadyk at the capitol of the New Necrotic Armada where you will serve him for the rest of your species existence. Be joyous. You will not feel the righteous flames of the Lavafather," she says before turning to stride to her fortress and returning to designing her personal warship.

The stonestars almost expected another bout of crippling pain but they scale the cliffs and return to their people to spread the news. The refugees set up a sprawling camp around the base of Agona's plateau as back on Horizon's Drop diggers shift their patterns and begin to craft a sprawling maze of tunnels similar to the natural caverns and lavatubes of the Lavafathers moon by expanding upon old mining tunnels.

The Eyegore standing guard over the white dwarf system taken by the Necrolytes watches as the Bloat Carriers arrive with flashes of void-warped light carrying the latest excavators and diggers along with the halves of a Terrordrome. They watch as the two halves join together over the ice planet the Necrolytes claimed, the defensive ship's reinforced shields glimmering with an opalescent sheen from the bright star. It watches as Entropic Excavators angle themselves down as powerful drills churn, the machines burrowing into the earth like oversized moles.

It watches all that occurs and all that occurred went as expected. What it did not expect was a sound.

The craft shudders in alarm at the sound of something tapping against it's hull and it swivels in an attempt to bring its large cluster of oversized eyes to bear. It spied nothing, only the emptiness of space when something raked along it's hull.

You were quickly alerted to the peculiar happenings and you watch through the very confused and somewhat scared Eyegore. It recoils visibly as something drifts in front of the lens reinforced glass.

Tendrils drift on an invisible breeze, trailing away into the darkness. Skeletal fingers drag across the glass leaving grimy smudges as the mass of eyes underneath twitch and convulse.

Fingers tap on the glass then their distorted face presses against it to stare into the massive central eye, "Nooow, who is this now? A visitor, unknown this visitor. This scent, old and familiar is it's scent."

It appears the Armatocere were correct about the Wraiths in this system.

At first I tried reconfiguring that song to match Jadyk's PoV here, but I realized that song is so perfect for describing where he's been for the past millennia or five it's kind of spooky.

>Because a vision softly creeping,
>Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
>And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

Throw in a couple of references to masks and it's pretty much spot on the money.

>>
>>45368808
>in restless dream I sat alone
>quite room of blackened stone
>neath the working of a mine camp,
>I turned my mind to the cold and damp
>When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a mining light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten masked people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools," said I, "You do not know.
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you.
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the Akham god they made.
And the masked flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the Werm are written on the prison walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."

You'd been waiting for a Wraith to appear but to have it come literally right up to your Eyegore was somewhat of a surprise. The ethereal creature drags its hand across the glass, the Eyegore grimacing at the smudges of grime on the lens.

Reaching through the mind of the Eyegore you stretch your mind for the Wraith and it recoils from the glass at your mental touch. The tendrils writhe with sudden activity before it calms itself and it sways from side to side then drifts below and around the Eyegore. The craft spins to follow the incorporeal undead as you reach out once more and finally the Wraith allows mental contact.

"I know you, servant of Akka-Tor the Lightdrinker and Sun-Eater. Tell me your mistress still exists, I would speak with her," you say as you recline in your stone throne light-years away.

The Wraith takes it's time as it drifts aimlessly in orbit around the Eyegore before it's wispy voice reaches the Eyegore, "Power, necrotic and potent your power. Knowledge of my mistress known, forbidden knowledge. Pray, tell me your name, I pray."

"I am Lich-Lord Jadyk of the Wormstar. Former general and commander in the Grand Necrotic Armada alongside Akka-Tor the Lightdrinker, Voidlord Ghul, Warleader Fist and Queen Jaw. You have my name, now tell me of your Mistress. I desire an audience with my old friend," you say as your battlecruiser prepares itself to travel, Piercing and Common Nail fighters docking to the hull.

The Wraith twists in the weightless void, it's tendrils swaying in impossible currents, "Wormstar, a remaining uncorrupted piece of the Wormstar. Mistress must know, she will know what to do my Mistress. Jadyk the Lich-Lord, we will deliver your message Lich-Lord Jadyk. Necrotic might grows, Hail the Necrotic!" it shouts with sudden intensity that reverberates through the Eyegore making it flinch.

The wraith is clutched by invisible claws and rent piece by piece until nothing remained.

You sigh as you drum your fingers against the thrones armrest. You had forgotten how theatrical Wraiths of the Lightdrinker could become.

There had been rumors among the old Necrotic Armada about how the process that Akka-Tor used to rip the souls from the living and bind them to her power and warped reality caused them all to go insane, their grasp on reality weak and distorted.

The Battlecruiser goes back to standby, the Think Tank controller somewhat disappointed but content to wait.

I'm sorry for cutting it so short but I think I need to call it here with the story stuff. We can focus on troops creation and management.

Go ahead and post your troop ideas or troop/ship orders.

Anyone have that engineer squid reconstructed mentioned last thread?

I also so discussion about "shock" troopers?
>>
>>45369433
That squid unit actually sounds like it could be really useful as a stealthy infiltrator type unit. If we could design it so it can 'remove' it's shell like armor, like a hermit crab, it would allow it contort it's body in ways impossible for anything with bones and could use passages far too small for any other unit.

Also, supporting the literal shock troopers.
>>
>>45369433
The Shock Troopers were:
Troll base (12B, 3M)
Beastial Strength (2B)
Metal Sheathed Bones (3M)
Zapper organs (1B 2M)
Arc Weapons
Beserker Gland (3B)
Conductive Armor (2M)
Bladed Armor (3M)
Advanced Jump Pack (10M)
Total: 18B 23M
Equipped with 1 lightning gun and one melee claw

Also had an idea for making the devouring swarm symbiotic with the sludge, so it propagated the sludge as they both ate through everything. Something to pop in our bording pods when we don't care if anything is left alive on the ship

What can be don't to boost construction speed?
>>
>>45369497
Can we swap out the advanced jump pack with the more basic variant? We don't really need these guys to fly like birds, and their packs will probably get torn to shreds in the intense melee action we will inevitably throw them into.
>>
>>45369561
That seems fine, and it'll cut the metal cost by 4
>>
>>45369595
Yeah that will bring their biomass and metal cost to roughly equivalent levels, which would be convenient. We are kind of struggling to bring in enough metal right now.
>>
>>45369662
About that, do you know what the vast majority of the deep mantel and core of earth sized planets are made out of?

Nickel and iron.

What if we use the knowledge and power of the lava father and our own powers to make a Balrog.
A creature to cut out the metal hearts of planets
>>
>>45369859
That will need to be a big fucking balrog, as in large on an astronomic scale
>>
>>45369497
Adding Shock Trooper Troll to list:
Troll base (12B, 3M)
Beastial Strength (2B)
Metal Sheathed Bones (3M)
Zapper organs (1B 2M)
Arc Weapons
Beserker Gland (3B)
Conductive Armor (2M)
Bladed Armor (3M)
Jump Pack (6M)
Total: 18B 19M

Taking the already vicious Troll and making it even deadlier the Shock Trooper lives up to its name by wielding powerful electrical currents through it's Arc Vibroblades and Spears or unleashing the fury of a small storm through a lightning gun. Powerful combatants they are most at ease in melee combat with their axes, cleaverswords and spears channeling the power surging through them. Berserker glands and bladed armor make them a nightmare for those that must fight them in the tight confines of ship corridors.

>>45369487
Proposed unit:
Reconstructed Squid:
2 Sting Whips
1 Cluster Sting Whip
Paralytic Venomgland 2B
Acid Glad 2B
Cyclopean Gaze
2 Shardspitters 4M
Siphon Jet 3B
Advanced Camoflage 5B
Total: 18B 5M

Floating as easily through the air as swimming through water the Reconstructed Squid (needs better name) is a stealthy abductor and saboteur, sneaking unseen into enemy locations and kidnapping or assassinating their targets. The Squids can slip through any hole larger than the large cyclopean eye at the center of it's cluster of manipulator tentacles, sting whip barbs tense around the red eye.

Add both to the Troop list?
>>
>>45369859
Anon, I don't think you quite grasp how retardedly huge even small planets are. Like, throughout this entire quest, even if we build the largest armada in the universe, we STILL wouldn't use a fraction of the metal that makes up the mass of a planet. If we wanted to tap molten mantels for metal (try saying that five times fast) we'd be better off with a huge ass hose to just pump it into refineries, but just building such a thing would be absurdly costly.

>>

This is possibly the greatest PR tactic for the new Necrotic Armada I've heard yet.

oh right before I go I meant to address this.

You can't combine them without greatly weakening the organic acid of the Sludge. It is specially designed to consume anything organic and that includes Reconstructed and other undead.

This is the stuff you use when you don't want a single thing remaining alive while keeping most structures in tact.
