You are Kline Bueller, and you are at home, wondering what the hell happened back at the windmill. You did have an interest in women, but never like this. Were you going crazy?

You hope to god you'd never become a father with Maria. You can imagine your children becoming like their mother, acting all stuck-up and hard to reign in.

The thought sends a shiver down your spine. Dear gods, why couldn't things go back to normal just like they usually do?

What do you do?

>Go talk to Maria.
>Head into the kitchen.
>Look for your dad.

You decide to head down to the kitchen to get yourself a snack. Your stomach is practically growling. Grabbing some cookies, you head back upstairs and knock on your sister's door.

"Maria?" You say softly.

"Go away." Came the muted reply.

"I want to talk." You say.

"Don't wanna." She mutters.

"You can't stay in there forever." You sigh.

"I can too."

You sigh as you munch on a cookie. "I got Auntie's cookies."

The door opens slightly for you, as you enter the room and see the moping cleric. "You ok?"

"No." Maria mutters.

"Um, this isn't easy for me to say..." You start.

"Then don't."

"Well, I'm going to say it anyways. D-Do you have a crush on me?" You say.

"...What?" Maria raises her head and looks at you.

>"I mean, Do you like me as a friend?"
>"Never mind."
>"I'm sorry for saying something weird."

"I'm sorry if I said anything strange." You shake your head. "You're right, I should just go away." You make towards the door when something grabs your hand.

"D-Don't go." Maria looks at you with... watery eyes? You must be still asleep. "I want you to stay with me a while, please."

"O-Ok..." You slowly blink and sit near the cleric, who is still holding onto your arm. "Um, so, what now?"

"...I wanted to be your friend." Maria sighs.

"...What?" You ask.

"I'm serious! I was trying to get you to spend some time with me, but you keep pushing me away!" The blonde frowns at you.

"By insulting me, acting violent towards me, and now climbing windmills was all a ploy for my friendship?" You ask incredulously.

"You don't understand! I was raised to be a proper lady! I wanted to carry on my grandmother's ideals, but I didn't want to scare off anyone by acting like an uncouth tomboy..." Maria hangs her head.

"It's ok to be yourself. It's not ok to be someone you're not." You say.

"Easy for you to say! You're a commoner! I have to put on appearances! I can't just act all rambunctious!" Maria shouts.

>"Does it really make a difference if our roles were reversed?"
>"Your actions contradict your words."
>"I don't get it."

"Your actions betray your words." You reply. "A proper lady isn't supposed to get angry at things and hit people."

"Don't patronize me!" Maria cries. "I know I'm not perfect, but at least I'm trying!"

"I know." You say. "So, why did you leave home?"

"I wanted to help people, and by becoming a healer and joining a guild, I was able to do that. But then YOU came along, and well, you're a part of my life now, whether I like it or not."

"So, does that make us friends now?" You ask.

"...I have no idea." Maria sighs.

"Well, today's our last day here, so you might want to think about it before we go our separate ways at Grandale tomorrow." You say.

"Yes..." Maria sighs.

What do you do?

>Ruffle her hair.
>Give her a cookie.

"You want to go out and see the town?" You ask.

"What for?" Maria snorts.

"They're having a festival today." You reply.

"Festival?" That catches the noble girl's interest. "Where?"

"At the plaza." You reply. "They're holding it right now."

"What are we waiting for, let's go!" Maria then hops off the bed and shoos you out so she can change. You shrug and head downstairs to wait for her to doll herself up.

Minutes later, Maria comes down wearing a white dress. "I'm ready. Let's go already!" She huffs. "It's rude to keep a lady waiting!"

>"At once!"
>"Whatever you say."
>"Allow me to lead you, my lady."

"Allow me to lead you there, my lady!" You say earnestly.

"I know you're being sarcastic, but it's really nice to hear you being humble." Maria smiles at you. Another shudder runs down your spine. Creepy.

The two of you leave the house and head down to where the villagers have gathered at the center of the plaza, cheering and horns being blown into the air.

"It's so noisy!" Maria shouts.

"It's fun!" You shout back. You see men and women dancing around, singing an old folk song about a brave village boy outwitting an ogre king.

Maria is soon pulled into the dance, trying to follow the lead of the dancers. You just laugh as she nearly trips over herself. Gods, this was starting to get you back in your usual mood now.

"Kline! Help me!" Maria cries out.

>"Calm down, Maria, it's just dancing!"
>"You're doing fine!"
>"Have fun!"

"You're doing great! You're tripping the light fantastic!" You encourage the blonde.

"My legs are turning into jelly!" Maria shouts at you.

"That means you're having a blast!" You cry out. You join in the dancing, ignoring Maria's protests. This wasn't the first time you joined in the festival. You brought Evelyn to her first village festival and she loved every second of it. She also loved chatting with Millie and those two got along very well.

Speaking of Millie, you see her dancing with her girl friends.

What do?

>Wave at her.
>Call out to her.
>Move towards her.
>>
>>45390599
>>Wave at her.
Focus on the goal here

"Hey, Mill!" You wave at her. She turns to your direction and waves back happily.

As the dancing dies down, everyone then bows down towards a beautiful wooden statue of a nude woman wrapping herself in a flowing cloth. It was the goddess of the harvest, Leaia.

"Today, we celebrate this day in the name of Leaia." The mayor is upon the podium, making a speech. You've already heard it before, but it would be nice to listen to it again.

"This is boring." Maria sighs.

>"Shhh!"
>"I didn't take you for a non-believer."
>"I thought clerics worshipped gods."

I thought clerics worship gods.

Whatever.
Wait it out and we can later go and get some drinks and sweets.
We could invite Millie as well.
I think you two could make friends if you try to drop the noble facade for a while and have some fun.
>>
>>45390942
"I thought clerics worshipped the gods." You mutter.

"Not when someone is making an equivalent of a damn love letter to one!" Maria hisses at you.

"It's called a tribute." You sigh.

"It's still boring." The cleric snorts.

You ignore her and listen on to the speech, hearing tales about Leaia's gifts to those who followed her words of wisdom. Too bad Maria couldn't understand it.

"Is it over?" Maria asks you.

>"Not yet."
>"Be patient."
>"Go take a nap."

"Why don't you take a nap, then?" You reply.

Maria just snorts and turns away as soon as the speech is finished and cheers fill the air.

"Oh, never mind. It's done." You grin.

"Finally. What's next?" Maria sighs.

Suddenly, a strong gust blows through the plaza, leaves dancing about around the statue. You watch in awe as the statue comes to life, Leaia letting out a breath of fresh air.

"I have heard your prayers, my children, and I have come to you." The goddess speaks, her green eyes look upon the gatherers, who stare in sheer awe and reverence. "But I have felt that someone has not given proper respect to me."

"But who would do that, my lady?" the mayor asks confused.

You see Maria looking absolutely nervous as Leaia then casts her eyes onto her.

"I sense a child of the god of light among you all." Leaia nods as she keeps looking at Maria. "Child of the light, why do you not give me your praise like you do your god?"

"I-I didn't mean, I mean, I do praise, but I-" Maria fumbles her words, trying to think up an excuse as everyone looks at her.

You facepalm, wondering if you couldn't just move away from her and pretend you didn't know her.

You are Maria Salzberg, and you find yourself being accused of dishonoring a god. You called yourself a cleric, yet you managed to offend a deity in the backwoods town. Oh, dear.

"I didn't mean to offend you, I was waiting for your arrival." You say.

Leaia raises an eyebrow. "Really? I have not arrived in this world since we left the world to the hands of men."

You gulp. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to complain about the mayor's speech! I didn't want to have to listen to so many words at once!" You bow down in shame.

"As long as you have admitted your folly, I forgive your sin." Leaia then snaps her fingers and a pumpkin falls into your arms. What.

"A gift from me, child. As for the rest of you all, I bring you a blessing for a bountiful harvest." Leaia raises her hands into the air and vegetables fill up the empty baskets, much to the delight of the villagers.

"Now, I must go. Be well and be thankful to one another." Leaia then reverts back to a statue, her smile frozen in place.

You just stand there in confusion. What the hell just happened? And why were you given a pumpkin?

You wish your god appeared to you and answer your burning questions.

>To be continued.

Thanks for playing. I took the liberty to archive this. Gonna crash into bed now.

As much as i enjoy your random dating-quest you should really get of your rails sometimes.
Just a few advices here:

Make a combat system where players have agency besides what you describe.
I.e. let the players make up a plan of attack and you set a DC they have to beat.

For training you could do the old weapon proficiency skill progression to keep it simple and have the players recieve a bonus depending on their proficiency level like this:

Basic swordsmanship->Intermediate swordsmanship->Advanced swordsmanship->Sword-master

Basic pole-arm techniques -> Intermediate pole-arm techniques ->Advanced pole-arm techniques->Pole-arm master

Basic archery -> Intermediate archery -> Advanced archery -> Sharpshooter

Basic gives +1, Intermediate +2, Advanced +3 and master +4 to the player rolls.

Otherwise keep doing what you are doing and gib us some combat.
