So this was the Katana Fleet that you spent these past few months pursuing. Nothing more than scraps, wrecks, and busted hulks now that the Empire and the Rebels had their squabble over it. “Have you ever seen such a thing, Rhys? So many ships lying dead in space, deep graves for those brave enough to crew them. The last time I saw such a thing was during the Clone Wars. Sure, the Clones and the Droids had their days in the sun, but never forget that it was people who waged the war. And it is people lying dead in space for the mistakes of those too greedy and corrupt to see what they were doing to this Galaxy.

“But for those now picking apart the remnants of the Katana Fleet, those aren’t people. They’re parasites, vultures, graverobbers.” Admiral Reike snorts, folding his hands behind his back. The both of you watch from the bridge of the Redeemer as scavengers in many ships and vessels are tearing apart the remains of ships, both Katana Fleet and Rebel. “Barely better than the Rebels we defeated.”

You nod. “So you stopped them from blowing up the Fleet then?”

“They boarded the Katana, sent the signal, but we managed to move cruisers around it in time to save some of the Fleet,” he says. “Only some, around fifty ships if I am correct. The rest exploded from the inside, and are now the debris field you see before you.” He motions his hand across the window, showing off the floating hulks and remains of ships flying across the ship. An explosion rings off in the distance, probably scavengers fighting over a wreck. “I have given these parasites free reign over what we can’t take with us. With the condition that they not touch the Imperial ships that were lost. Everything else is fair game.” Another explosion.

“And my payment?” you ask quietly.

He nods. “Coming. I am processing the ingots your Hutt friend sent to me. They will be cashed within the week. In the meantime…” He turns to you, tilting his head. “I am allowing you to remain part of my Fleet as a test pilot for the new TIE fighter designs. You are free to go to the Proving Grounds with my blessing to fly around, and retire if you wish.”

“Retire?”

“Retire,” he says. “There’s a nice plot of land on Carida that might be suited for you, next to a canyon that you can crash airspeeders in.” He smirks a bit at his own joke. You aren’t smiling at all. “Until then, your job here is done, Rhys. You have served the Empire and Emperor better than I can say for most of my subordinates. You may have free reign over what is here for you.”

A piece of debris shakes the ship up a bit, making everyone except you and him flinch. “Alright, sir.”

“Dismissed. Keep alert.” You nod, turning to walk out of the bridge. “I’ll be watching you.”

-

-

You sit in your quarters. You sent Misri and Vikker out to scavenge the ship with the astromechs. Right now though, things were a bit different. You couldn’t keep yourself from staring at Eudora’s holopad on your desk. It was all you could do for the past hour, nothing could break this line of thought. No matter how much it made you hurt to look at it or how much you just wanted to rip your eyes out to stop reminding yourself of it, you have to acknowledge this fact.

The Rebel Fleet is gone. The Interdictors didn’t just stop the Katana Fleet from escaping into hyperspace again. It stopped the Rebel Fleet from escaping. The biggest ships were screwed, some of the smaller ones escaped at least but no longer have money for food. They’ll starve to death in due time. They threw themselves into a one-way street, all in the name of some rebellious cause. Why?
>>
>>45398876
[3/4]

You’ve known Eudora for quite a bit. You shared a night with her even. She’s a smart girl, she’s shown herself to be wise too, people have to be wise if they’re raised on the ronto’s rear end of Corulag. So why would they all just sacrifice themselves for this? Did they even know they would never escape?

“Ugh.” You bent over forwards, gripping your gut. This was making your stomach churn. It was guilt. You didn’t want to feel guilty but you do, it’s guilt pure and simple. What were you supposed to do anyway? Why is everything contriving to just shove you down and keep you down like this? Does the Galaxy just want to see you suffer? Not even the promise of millions was making you feel better. If anything it was making you feel worse.

“You okay?” You blink, then turn around to see Kuvasz standing in your doorway. “Misri and Vik haven’t come back with any new fighters, at least any intact ones.”

“Tell them to keep searching,” you say.

He nods. “You feel terrible, don’t you?”

“What do you mean?” you ask.

“You let all those people die, after you took their food money.” He walks into the room, hooking his thumb on his belt and pulling his helmet off. The expression on his face isn’t mad. It’s disappointment. “But at least they died for what they believed in.”

“It doesn’t make sense though,” you say. “Why throw yourself against the Empire like that, for a vague chance at destroying ships they already own on paper!?” You slam your fist on your desk, sighing. “Eudora’s smarter than that, and she just throws herself and the people she cares about away like that? What kind of dumb move is that?”
>>
>>45398900
[4/4]

“It’s called doing the right thing,” he says. “Doing the right thing doesn’t have to make sense.”

“Come on, you and me both know that’s not how you survive!” you yell.

“It’s not. It’s how you live,” he says back. He turns around his helmet, to take the visor face him. “I used to believe in things like you. That the strongest and the smartest survived. That the weak only existed to make things equal occasionally. Rhys, I’m not angry at you. I respect the way you run things. I’m only disappointed that you can’t seem to see why people would do these things.”

You snort, scoffing at him. “So, what. You’re gonna lecture me on what the right thing is then?”

“No, I’m sure you do know what the right thing is.” He steps up to you, then pokes your chest. “You’re just too scared to let it come out. I've seen boys like you, think that way. It only needs a good friend or two to bring it out of them.” He points his thumb back. “I’m going to cook something up for the kids when they come back. Did you want anything?”

But do rebelfags feel it? It's entirely their fault the fleet got fugged. Had they not sold the coordinates the rebel fleet would still be kicking.

To be fair, the empire would have slaughtered them even if we hadn't given them the co-ordinates. Their survival would only be temporary.

> “Fine, let me help you.”

You stand up. “Yeah, to cook my own meal.” He smirks, stepping aside and allowing you to exit the room with him. The two of you start walking to the galley together. “Look, Kuvasz, let’s not-“

“If it is a sensitive topic, I will not pry,” he says. “Should you need someone to talk to you, Grampa Kuvasz is there for you.” You give him a gentle shove towards the wall, and he continues smirking in delight at having gotten through to you just a little bit.

-

-

“Tch! Aah! Motherf…” You suck on your finger. Bit of a cut from the knife as you slice the vegetables. Kuvasz looks over at you from the other counter, expertly chopping up the peppers without even looking. “I don’t see the point in knowing how to cook you know, when you can just have ration packs.”

“Be a man,” he responds. “Women like it when you cook for them, Mandalorian women especially love men who are experts with a knife.” He walks over to you, then proceeds to show off by planting his hand on the cutting board, then stabbing the knife between all fingers. He finishes by spinning the blade on the tip of his knuckles, then bounces it up and back into his hand. “See?”

“Show off.” You shake your head. Though, you wonder if Warmaster Vizsla would like that. Might be something to learn later. He walks back to his little corner, and starts patting out the dough for the meal.

While that happens however, you get a call on your holopad. This had better be good. You set the holopad on the counter and activate it. And then comes the familiar shape and body of your favorite Zygerrian, Jennis D’Leer. “Hey, hey, bucko!” She tips her brimmed cap to you, pulling her goggles off of her eyes. “I hear talk that my favoritist little treasure finder is in the same little system picking apart this pile of junk that I am!”

“Jennis,” you smile a bit. “Good to see you.”

“Yeah, good to see ya too…” She squints a bit. “Is that an apron?” You look down, you put on the apron at Kuvasz’s insistence, yes. “Aww, are you cooking? That is absolutely adorable!” She plants her cheeks on her face, a slight blush on her face. You look over at Kuvasz. With a blank face, he gives you a thumbs up. You give him a shake of the fist in response. “Oh, you know what, how about our ships dock up? I can show you a bit of the Zygerrian cuisine! I’ll admit, we do put gravy on everything but can you blame us? Gravy’s amazin’.”

> “Sure, I’d like that.”

“Alright, sure, come on by. I’ll have Lev walk you in.”

She salutes you. “I’ll cook up some mean fried dishes for y’all and myself in the meantime. Signing off!” Her hologram disappears.

Kuvasz looks back at you. “You’re inviting her around?”

“Yeah,” you say. “So how about you cook something mild?” When you take a walk on over, you see that he’s cooking some sort of sloppy stew, reddish in color, but hot to smell and to even stand near. “This doesn’t seem mild.”

“Yes it is,” he says indignantly. He takes a spoonful of it, then offers it to you. It bubbles a little, and steam escapes from the sides of the spoon around it. “Have a try.”

“No thanks, I like having a tongue.”

-

-

Jennis walks through the door, holding a huge platter of steaming hot dishes from the halls of Zygerria. “Howdy! Y’all are in for a real treat!” She steps into the galley then places down a huge dish of what appears to be fried meats of all types, a huge bowl of gravy, biscuits, and grits. “There y’all go!” She looks around, and blinks. “Huh, where’s the little blind cutie and your Aqualicious friend?”

“They’re out scavenging,” you say. “They’ll be back in a few minutes.” She nods, sitting down next to you. Kuvasz is busy washing the pots and pans. “How about you try some of Kuvasz’s dishes first.” You push one plate over to her, and she marvels at the redness of it. “That’s tiingilar as they call it on Mandalore, it’s supposed to be really spicy.”

[1/2]
>>
>>45400252
[2/2]

“Oooh, exotic!” She cuts up a portion of it, then pops it into her mouth. And to your infinite surprise, she quirks her brow then takes up another portion. “Hm. Kinda mild.” Kuvasz looks back at you, smugly. You shake your fist at him again, and he quietly laughs to himself. “You know what this needs though. Some fine meat gravy.” She takes up a large spoon and pours herself a bit of gravy, all over the casserole. “There we go.” She suckles a bit on the spoon, then places it next to the bowl politely, just in case. “Mhm!” She smiles as she starts digging in.

And right on cue, Misri and Vikker step in. “Jennis!” Vikker clicks his tusks happily. “And food! Cooked food! Excellent!” He pats his belly, immediately sitting down next to you. Misri quietly assumes a seat across from you, hurrying to put stuff on her plate.

“You guys find anything out there?” you ask.

“Mostly just scrap metal and circuitry, nothing too useful,” he says. “Occasionally we come by a corpse here and there but it’s nothing we can’t handle.” Fair, fair. He starts putting items of food on his plate, mostly the fried meats from Jennis’ plate. “Hey, Jennis. This stuff ain’t made from slaves is it?”

“Oh, come off it, Vikker!” Jennis rolls her eyes.

“I’m joking, haha!” He starts digging in.

“So, Jennis.” You smile at her as you eat up her delicious foodstuffs. “How have you been lately? Get any sales going?”

“Ahaha!” She slaps her knee. “Funny you should ask that er…” Her smile drops a bit, and she bites down on her lip quite fiercly. “I mean, I do have sales from all kinds of people but er…” She twiddles her fingers together. “Still owe some people money and they er…” Now that you think about it, you haven’t seen her ship in person. “... “Oh, nobody in particular!” She grins. “Just er… a hutt there, guy on Taris, then there’s somebody in the Senate, and then I had a few too many games of sabaac with a guy in the cartel and then-“ All of you stare at her. “I’ll stop talking, Misri!” Misri jumps a bit, surprised at being called on. “Misri, how’s my bestest favoritist littlest girl doing?”

“Oh, um.” She shrugs. “I’m fine, I guess.”

“Oh?” She tilts her head. “You seem a bit less lively than I remember you. Did something happen to you? You poor girl!” Jennis pinches Misri’s cheek, frowning. Misri tilts her head to the side in response, an eyeroll. “Tell you what, you can always tell your auntie Jennis anything!”

“No, no, it’s fine.” Misri shakes her head. “Er, Rhys. I’m going to go work on something in the back, alright?”

“You sure?” you ask. “Jennis cooked so much food.”

“Yeah, that’s why I’m taking two plates.” She immediately shovels some food onto a second plate. “… three, actually.” She immediately shovels some food onto a third. “… should I take-“

Jennis smiles. “As many as you want, hun.” Misri nods, taking four plates of food with her. It’s not an easy carry, but she does it with the help of Kuvasz holding the door open for you. “Such a pretty little girl, you’re lucky to have her on board.” Oh, she does not know what she’s talking about.

Vikker continues shoveling more food down his gullet. “Well, er-“ He coughs, clearing his throat. “Misri’s had a bit of… an adventure lately. She just needs time to process it. Let her be.” Jennis nods, understanding. Thanks for covering it up, Vikker. “By the way, Jennis. You don’t happen to have any er… female friends I should be looking out for, right?”

“Vikker, please. If I did, I wouldn’t be guiding them to you.” Vikker shrugs, going back to eating. Kuvasz pulls some food onto a plate as well to eat, then starts walking out of the galley. “Kuvasz, you not going to eat with us?”

“I’m just going to go make sure Misri’s okay,” he says. “Don’t want her to be too lonely on this ship.” You nod to him, and off he goes.

Jennis smirks a bit, leaning on you. “Ah, that means you and me can catch up then, Rhys.” She pats your thigh, looking up at you. “Alone…” The two of you look over at Vikker.

He stops eating, looking at you two. “What?”

>>
> “Jennis, how about you show me around your ship.”

“How about you show me around your ship, Jennis?” you ask.

“Oh, well-“ She coughs, a slight blush on her cheeks. “I mean, I haven’t really cleaned up in there or anything and it’s er… it’s not exactly the same ship we last met in so I’m not sure if er…”

“Come on.” You stand up, taking her shoulder and standing her up as well. “Vikker, when you’re done, get in the cockpit. It’s your turn to watch the droids.”

“Ah fine.” He rolls his eyes. “But I’m getting real sick of hearing them say Roger Roger to themselves over and over again.” You’re not going to argue with that. Every time you’re managing the cockpit, the two of them talk with each other even though as droids they’re perfectly capable of just transmitting messages with each other. It’s like some sort of comedy skit with those two.

“Right, come on, Jennis.” You give her a quick pat on the bum. She yelps, giving you a very coy look as the two of you walk out of the galley. “Your ship can’t be that bad.”

-

-

Her ship –was- that bad. It was an old Crinya-class freighter. You’re not sure how it got so old considering these only stopped being manufactured only a couple of years ago. But the things you’ve seen. Live wires hanging out of the ceilings, an old dead protocol droid just lying in the corner of her cockpit, rust, grime, and mold growing out of parts of the walls, and the lights occasionally flickering on and off. How did she lose her ship and get it replaced with something like this?

It was a question to ask her as the two of you lie in her bed. She lies on top of you, straddling you as she gently rests. “Aaahh… always nice to break the loneliness of deep space with friendly company.”

You pat her on the back, nodding. “Yeah, yeah. But…” You squint, looking up at the ceiling. “Seriously, what happened to your ship?”

“It got repo’d,” she says simply.

“And how did you get this one?” you ask.

“Oh, I won this in a bet,” she says. “I almost gambled on it trying to win back my old ship but I decided to just cut my losses and well…” She sighs, sitting up and pulling the blanket around herself to cover up her modesty. “Here we are. The Avalanche.”

Looks like it’s been through one too.

She sighs. “I really hate being a scavver sometimes.”

You sit up as well. “Why be a scavver then?”

“Well. I mean, I didn’t really like it back home so why not be a scavver?” she asks. You suppose a lot of scavvers get into the business simply because they’re bored or because they want something out of their lifes that neither the Empire or the Rebellion can offer them. Still, the business of scavenging is not for the faint of heart. It’s cutthroat, and it’s not for good girls like Jennis. “I miss home sometimes.” You don’t. She looks over at you. “Well, you should probably get back to your ship.”

“Don’t want to sell anything to me?”

“I got nothing to sell to you,” she says. “I gotta prioritize getting my haul to my debtors first. We’ll see then. Though, I do have to ask, what exactly happened with this Fleet? Didn’t you say you were hunting something like this?”

Eudora might be dead, people are starving because of his decisions, and Rhys still has yet to fully rationalize and understand the very concept of standing against the Empire for any reason.

>And it's really clear that she didn't know a damn thing about Rhys.
Now Rhys doesn't know a damn thing about himself, since he was able to witness the fallout. That's the whole point of character development.
>>
>>45402459
Technically we didn't sell her out. We did give her information, which lead to a hug battle that might have lead to her death

We could have not given the rebels the information and they'd be up shit creek without a paddle still or we could have not given the empire the information we promised them and then been tortured by inquistors until we gave it up

Not really a good set of options
>>
>>45402545

Yeah, and we already know how that turned out. So why exactly is this something to feel guilty over? She chose to side with the rebels, she made her own grave, not Rhys. And if she honestly thought that we were going to pick her and 15k instead of the Empire and 100k, they can't have been that close.
>>
>>45402624
Because callously rationalizing everything away as "she was a filty Rebel, fuck 'em" isn't that easy. Rhys has an opportunity to learn to see things beyond the credits.

>>45402675
Do you mourn when some ISIS dumbshit gets killed? No. So why should we feel bad about rebels dying?

Bruv, there's no way those two are the same thing. You're jumping down a dangerous rabbit hole here.
>>
>>45402717
But i assume that you would mourn if it was a close friend of family and wonder why they would do something so stupid.
>>
>>45402777
At this point in the setting, from Rhys' perspective, they are absolutely the same thing. The Empire hasn't done anything obviously evil yet, and Rhys is a patriot. So he definitely would see a bunch of suicidal terrorists attacking both the legitimate government and any civilians in their way and think of them in the same way that we think of ISIS.
>>
>>45402784
That's different from feeling any guilt over it. We can wonder why someone else would be that stupid or evil without jumping to assuming that we did anything wrong.

She stares at you, still sitting naked underneath the blankets as you explain the entire thing to her. Everything, from Admiral Reike, to Misri, to Eudora and the Rebels, and you giving the information to both parties, and finally what happened up to now. Once you’re finished, it honestly feels great. It’s as if a great relief has been set upon you. “So er…” You shrug. “Yeah. That’s basically the gist of it.”

“Wow.” She blinks. “You lead a pretty interesting life, Rhys.”

“So, you’re not mad about the whole-“

“Oh goodness no, if that were me in your position? Pssshh…” She shakes her head, then gently rests her head on your shoulder to comfort you. “Goodness Rhys, I don’t think you had much of a choice anyway. Ain’t nobody fights the Empire gets away with it.” That’s what you had to say about it too. It’s a harsh lesson, but it’s a lesson. “Poor thing.”

“Hey, I ain’t poor,” you say. “I don’t need your pity, Jennis. It’s-“

“You feel guilty?” she says. You shrug. “Oh, don’t worry. It’ll go away. You’ll see.”

“I hope so,” you say. “If anything I-“ She places her finger on your lip, shushing you.

“Ah, ah, ah…” She wiggles her ears in front of your face, smirking. “Come on, I know you feel a bit more frisky.”

“Jennis.” You sigh. “Come on.” She rubs up against you, like a little cat marking her territory. “I-…” She gently kisses your neck, nuzzling her cheek against you.

Mmm…

You can feel guilty later. You grab her from behind. “Aah! Oh!” You wrestle her onto her back. “Whoa, whoa, slow down, you- nau- Aah!” She kicks her legs, yelping in pleasure and surprise as you bite down on her ears. “Ahaha! Aha! Unf!” Jennis hugs the pillow underneath her body tight, ready for a bit of action.

Jennis stumbles a bit as she walks you back to your ship. “My, Rhys. You can get way too er…” She sighs happily, planting her hand on her cheek. She’s flushed, intensely relaxed in an afterglow that’ll probably last for quite some time. “Let’s just say you’ve got some endurance in you, ya cheeky li’l boy you.” She stands up on her tiptoes, then plants a kiss on your lips. “Listen, I’m gonna be headed back to Smuggler’s Haven soon. You’re always free to come with me.”

“We’ll see,” you say. “Hope to see you again, Jennis.”

She wiggles her fingers in a wave of goodbye. “I hope so too. Don’t get too cocky out there, boy.” She winks at you as she walks away into her ship, a definite swagger to her hips as she leaves you.

Always nice to unwind you guess.

You step into the cockpit, to find Vikker fast asleep and Dodger and Wilco apparently in an argument. “So I said to 77, and you know what I said? I said to him that Jedi are not as scary as we thought. Of course, we did end up losing the battle and then 77 got chopped in half.”

“Remind me again why we’re co-pilots,” says Wilco.

You call to them. “Anything to note?” They look back to you.

“No sir,” they say. “All the usable scrap has been picked up and we are ready for hyperspace. You just need to choose a destination, sir.”

Where to then?

You WANT things to change. That doesn't mean they should, and it doesn't mean that the rest of us should be dragged along because you want Rhys to feel guilty over nothing.

So take your smug, preachy attitude and fuck off.
>>
>>45403480
The condition of the Rebels and why they fight, I imagine.
>>
>>45403509
Because getting stuck in the middle of an ISIS cell would make you think like a lunatic too?

No, it just reminded us how arrogant and fucking nuts they were.
>>
>>45403370
What would he gain perspective on. They had shitty clone-wars ships, and not just the a-wings and x-wings he'd fought before? That everyone there hated him? That they didn't stand a fucking chance and should just give up?

>>45403509
Why would he learnt about why they fight? The only thing Eudora said was "You wouldn't understand." And guess what Rhys didn't. And everyone else was downright hostile to him.
>>
>>45403509
We learned that they were smug assholes and idiots. They got exactly what was coming to them.

So again, what the fuck should we feel guilty about?
>>
>>45403572
To be fair they had every reason to be hostile to Rhys.

On the other he had no reason other then helping Eudora in which he did for a price.

From my prospective should he feel bad? For Eudora yes. For the rebels themselves not really.
>>
>>45403643
Idiots yes, being Smug? No they weren't. quite the opposite they were desperate.
>>
>>45403650

No. She had a fine ass, but zero other redeeming qualities. The only thing for Rhys to feel bad about is that her ass was stuck to such an insufferable person.
>>
>>45403685
They did nothing but look down on us and act superior to us, with nothing to back it up. That makes them smug.

>>45402551

I feel you are over simplifying this because the rebelfag is triggering you.
>>

Again, how did they do that?

Were they hostile of coarse but what you are saying didn't come across as that.
>>
>>45403780
Until they become a hindrance to Rhys, at which point he appears to immediately ditch them, if this conversation is anything to go by. Lotte stole his treasure from underneath him for the sake of the Empire? Fuck her. Eudora defected to the Rebels? Fuck her too.
>>
>>45403878
But she had been straight with us unlike with Lotte.

She didn't ask to join the rebels, just gave him the cold hard facts of the situation at hand and on basically gambled on a long shot.

Those are two different things and what they did to Rhys.
>>
>>45403780
So someone from Rhys' past because an insufferable, preachy idiot, joins the rebels, fights the empire, and loses. Why should Rhys feel bad about that again? That's just a dumbass getting stomped for being a dumbass.
>>
>>45403996
At this point, Rhys will only turn an ear to the Rebels if Princess Leia or Mon Mothma herself offer him a contract that exceeds any Empire payout he may have otherwise received.
>>
>>45403996
Every time we interacted with her, she did nothing but patronize us and act like her idiotic cause made her better than us. And now that cause got her and everyone stupid enough to follow her wasted. That's called karma.
>>
>>45404024
Because she was a close friend of Rhys and ultimately sold her out.

again where did she come across as insufferable or preachy?

Was she an idiot for fighting the empire like she did. Of coarse but again i think you exaggerating what she did.

> Coruscant. You hear Rotta’s managed to reclaim his art gallery. Might see if it’s doing well again.

After a day’s travel through the hyperspace lane, you manage to reach the core world of Coruscant. Given Admiral Reike’s special permissions, you were waived through customs without much of a second thought. No searches on your ships, no having to disarm for customs, no nothing. This was your time. The four of you stepped up the stairs to the new and improved art gallery Rotta has opened up in place of his old one. And at the top of the steps he is waiting for you. “Rhys!” He holds open his arms, wearing a big white suit over his blubbery mass.

You give him a hug back, and he laughs happily. “Rotta. Good to see you. You’ve reopened your art gallery?”

“With some help from some friends of mine, yes.” He tips his head over to you, smugly. “And a bit of tarisian ale and some creative gambling, haha!” You smile, slapping him on the head. He barely feels it however as he leads you all in. “Ah, Kuvasz, Vikker, and Misri! Oh have you three been taking care of my good friend here?”

Kuvasz slaps his chestplate, indicating the lightsaber scar across it. “With my life, yes.”

“Ooooh, terrible. Well, come, come.” The four of you step into a now crowded art gallery, a now vast hall where paintings and sculptures from all eras of the Republic are displayed. Everybody from the slumdog kids to the Imperial Officer are taking in all the sights and sounds, some having intense arguments with others or even themselves on the interpretation of some pieces. “As you can see.” He points out the Basilisk in the centerpiece of the gallery, still being ridden by a figure of a Mandalorian Neo-crusader. “We’ve kept it.”

“Right,” you say.

“Oh, you seem quite glum, I know what will cheer you up.” He giggles a bit. “A bit of wine and some finger food.” Of course, Rotta’s idea of finger food was a steak dinner built for three, but you won’t argue. He slithers away. You sigh, taking another look at it.

You blink, wait, you look to your left. “Captain, why are we even here?”

“I like to stare at the art, Luyties.” Lotte and her XO Commander Luyties were here. They must be on leave after the whole Katana Fleet fiasco. They were staring at the beautiful carnage of an overhanging display of holotags. Millions, hanging, chiming in honor of the millions of Clone troopers killed over the course of the Clone Wars. Puts into scale the costs of the war you guess. Luyties sighs, rolling her eyes as she walks away.

Well, nuts to this. You turn around and start walking away-

“Where do you think you’re going?” asks Kuvasz.

“Lotte is here, I’m getting out while-“

He crosses his arms, tilting his head. You look to see Misri and Vikker have already wandered off. Vikker trying to flirt with some of the female patrons, while Misri is just busy trying to look as if she’s blind. Kuvasz, please don’t do this. Why must you do this? He shrugs. “Confront her. I don’t care if you reject her forever or if the two of you kiss and make up. But we Mandalorians consider it healthy to face our demons and kill them if need be.” What is he, your father now!?

Though, ideas, ideas.

You silently creep up next to Lotte, and stand next to her as she stares up at all of the holotags. “You know.” She flinches a bit, then turns her head to you in surprise. “All those holotags were handmade. The artist couldn’t actually secure authentic holotags. So what he did was carve each and every single one by hand, with the help of some volunteers of course. Took him a year of nonstop work to get all of it done.”

She nods slowly, then looks back up at it. “Can’t imagine sitting in a room by yourself doing nothing but carve holotags.”

“It’s tedious,” you say. After a few minutes, you look at her. “Why are you here?”

“The Admiral granted me and my crew leave for a week on Coruscant,” she says. “As a reward for being the first to engage with the Rebel Fleet. Minimal casualties. It was one of my TIE Bomber squadrons that dealt the killing blow to the Lucrehulk Usury.” Oh, well, that’s nice you guess. She sighs. “They would’ve been massacred completely if you were there.”

“But I wasn’t,” you say.

“I’m sorry, Rhys,” she says quietly. “For everything.” She tips her head down slowly. “I was wrong.”

“Yes, you were,” you say quickly. She squints at you, then goes back to sulking. “Just saying. Is that it?”

“I don’t mean to preach.” She folds her arms, sighing deeply. “There’s nothing I can do, except apologize and admit I was wrong, and try to make it up to you. Somehow, someway. Can we at least be friends again? If not family?”

I think you might be confusing me with the rebelfag that wanted to feel bad just for the sake for feeling bad.

What i was arguing was that we should feel bad for the one Rebel that we had a history with, and Rhys did in the OP. Whether he'll get over it or not or develop from it or not is up to anon and what Rhys had been through so far.

That is what i was arguing about.

> “We’re still family. Dysfunctional family, but still.”

“You had bounty hunters set upon me, you stole a treasure that was rightfully mine, you chased me all across the Galaxy and at several points put me and my crew’s life in danger.” Her face falls, and she looks down in heavy disappointment. “We’re still family, Lotte.” She blinks, surprised. “Dysfunctional family, but still. We’re family. But you’ve got a lot to make up for with that, alright? No more games. You can think of me as family, but you’re going to need to work until I consider you family too.”

She blinks, then immediately grins. Some tears fall out of her eyes. She can’t even process it, so the best thing she does is hug you tight. You hold up your hands for a second, then gently wrap them around her. You look over to see Kuvasz giving you a thumbs up. And back to him, you shake your fist at him.

“Ahem.” You and Lotte look over to see Rotta holding a platter of wine glasses, and a wine bottle as well. “I see the two of you have made up. That’s wonderful!” He holds it out to you.

“Thanks.” Lotte immediately takes the bottle. You and Rotta look at her, confused. “Don’t worry, Rhys. From here on out, if you’re ever in the Outer Rim you have my support!” … isn’t the Outer Rim where careers go to die? “Things will be different between you and me! We’ll drink to our heart’s content, we’ll be the best friends in all the galaxy!” She heartily takes a swig of the wine bottle. To your worry, she seemingly chugs the entire bottle to the amazement of you, Rotta, and several onlookers. When done, she throws it down and smashes it, getting a few gasps and shocked yells out of the crowd. “Whooo!” She throws her hands up. “Luyties, get over here! You’re family to me too!”

Commander Luyties looks up from her bench nearby. “No,” she responds.

“Whatever! Haha!” Lotte grabs Rotta’s hand, shaking it. “Tonight, we’re partying! All of us here, tonight!”

Rotta blinks. “T-… tonight.”

You, Kuvasz, Vikker, and a pair of Stormtrooper Officers were engrossed in quite the game of sabaac. This was a big pot that was on the line now. This was no longer a nickel and dime game going on in the background of a wild party where Lotte and Misri were dancing their butts off. The three of you just wanted to relax. “I’m out,” says Captain Lezan. He folds his hand. “Too rich for my blood. That’s a lot of credits y’all are putting on the line.”

“Ah, ya backwater tooka!” Captain Partha meanwhile shifted another one thousand credits on the table. “I call!”

“Fold.” Kuvasz shoves his hand down.

“Foldsville,” says Vikker.

Partha grins, looking at you. He must be confident. Might Pure Sabacc under his hand. Of course, you had an Idiot’s Array, even Pure Sabacc can’t fight that. Then again, games of sabacc were mind games, maybe…

No, you’re overcomplicating this.

You opt for the shift. “Calling it.” You set your cards down on the table, and he does as well. The two of you select your cards to not be randomized by the shift, then wait for a second. With a loud ping, the two of you show off your cards.

He has pure sabacc.

You have an Idiot’s Array.

“Agh! Bugger!” He slams his head on the table. “Ya- you cheating skinflint, I’ll-“ Kuvasz stands up, towering over the two Stormtrooper captains. “… accept this and call it a good game!” says Captain Partha nervously. The two of them surrender over eight thousand credits to you, and then begrudgingly leave the table.

“Nice job, idiot,” says Lezan.

“Bugger to you, I took the risk, that’s what Officers do!”

You smirk as you count off the credit chits. Hmph, they’ll miss these. Kuvasz sits back down, then kicks his feet up onto the table. “Always nice to see Misri happy, don’t you think?” You look over to see Misri shaking her hips, happy to be in the rhythm of music again. Even ignoring the whole issue with the Force, the Jedi, everything else, she’s at least found something to take her mind off of it.

“I guess,” you say.

Vikker looks over at you. “Hey, you still owe me for teaching you how to play sabacc, boy.” You roll your eyes. “Don’t roll your eyes at me, I just like being paid what’s due.”

Your holopad rings. You pull it up and take the call. And on it is Admiral Reike. “Admiral. What is it?”

That much money can buy a whole lot of things, speeders, ships, weapons, women. “I’m calling you because I missed you in person, I have another job for you.”

“Already?”

Oh and if we process the metals without reasonable qm toning down, or just spending them all on hookers, or bailing a friend out, etc, would it be possible for Rhys to be based out of a larger ship with his wealth? Did you have any ideas on where you wanted to go with that? This might be a more end of thread question so feel free to blow it off for later.

You stand up. “Excuse me.” You start walking out of the ballroom and step out onto the balcony. You shut the door behind you and step towards the railing. “I’m available, but I might need some time to pick up some special equipment, new personnel. Is there a place you want to meet?”

“No,” he says. “We can discuss this now then if you are interested. Hang on while I switch to a more private channel.” In the window of the door, you see Lotte peeking out at you. She smiles, a redness to her cheeks as she waves happily at you. Misri as well also happily waves at you from the other door too. Yep, they’re drunk. You sigh, waving back before you motion to your holopad. Lotte nods, giving a thumbs up before dragging Misri back to the dance floor. Admiral Reike finally appears again. “Alright, I am on a secure channel now, and I assume you are in private.”

You nod. “Yep. What do you need found?”

“Tell me, are you familiar with the legends of Exar Kun?” You nod. Of course, what good scholar isn’t? One of the most feared warlords of the Old Republic. A fallen Jedi. One of the first signs that the Jedi weren’t all they were made out to be, peacekeepers. “Good, good. Then let me very quickly tell you of a superweapon that he used. It was called the Dark Reaper. It was a weapon of immense power that sucked the life from living things, and used this life force as energy for its weapons.”

“I’ve heard about it,” you say. “I thought that was just something to make the Seps sound bad though. It seems really stupidly evil you know?”

“Trust me, boy. It’s real. My fleet was the one that carried Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi to Thule,” he explains. “There, Anakin Skywalker destroyed the Dark Reaper and ended that particular chapter in Exar Kun’s legacy, or… so we think. We have reason to believe that a rogue section of Separatists reclaimed the wreckage of the Dark Reaper and attempted to rebuild it. The first thing you need to find is the Force Harvester, without that the Dark Reaper is useless.”

“Alright,” you say. “Find the Force Harvester, we neuter the Dark Reaper. Okay.” He nods back, on the level with you now. “… so what are you paying me?”

“I am offering you in advance twenty thousand credits,” he says. “And to sweeten the bargain, I can allow you to walk away with one of our prototype TIE-series, if that suits your fancy.” Hm, seems a bit smaller than you were paid for the Katana Fleet. “If you are wondering why this is so small compared to last job, let’s just say that I will allow bonuses if you sufficiently impress me, Rhys. “Well, I’d love to do it, Admiral. But, what are you planning for it? You’re intending to destroy it, right? It sounds way too dangerous for anybody to use.”

“Hence why we want it,” he explains. “If the Rebels were to gain control of the Dark Reaper, they could subjugate dozens of worlds with its mere existence within days. Millions would die, and chaos would erupt all through the galaxy if that weapon were to resurface. We are to make sure that does not happen. This is to remain between you and me, Rhys, and the Inquisitorius and Emperor Palpatine’s lackeys.”

“Right, I mean, yeah, I’ll do it. I’ll find it for you.” He nods at that. “But, you can’t be seriously intending on using it, right?”

“I am fully aware of what the Dark Reaper and the Force Harvester is capable of,” he says grimly. “That is why we want it and everything about it. Your first destination will be the final the resting place of the second Dark Reaper, the planet of Thule. We have reports that old Separatist droids from the war are still out and about, so you may want to be careful. You’ll be looking for evidence of the Dark Reaper. It’s stupidly well-built, having survived thousands of years underneath scrap on Raxus Prime, so if you find it, good. If you don’t, assume something else has taken it. I look forward to your report.”

That's what I thought. Yeah, Rhys is nostalgic for the TIE cockpit, but the R-22 is his new baby.
>>
>>45409779

So we keep it in reserve as a backup fighter. With the new dosh we've got coming in, we could probably by a brand new starfighter right off the assembly line and shipped to our docking bay.

We're not leaving her behind, we're keeping her, as she happens to be a vastly superior ship to the majority of ships out there, really.

Nope. Impossible. She's drunk and the SJW thing to do is to escort her to safety!

She couldn't possibly be frustrated as fuck later because Rhys didn't want to fool around, again.

I don't think she'll make it to her room conscious and we need to draw on her face with marker when she passes out.
Also check out this hotness, Misri adds extra engines from all that battle salvage when? Seriously it doesn't have to offer a significant quest mechanics upgrade of any kind it just has to look like this!

It's too bad we're a couple years too early to get our hands on one of those T-70 X-Wings, too.

"Backup fighter" implies the TIE may get shot down. The day the TIE gets shot down is the day Rhys dies.

But who do we even contract for it?

Incom made the X-Wing line--and they're sorta exclusive to the Rebellion now.

Koensayr made the Y-Wing and H-Wing--big derpy fighters with lots of armor and shields.

Slayn and Korpil made the B-Wing, that beautiful asynchornous captial ship slayer.

And of course there's Sienar Fleet Systems and Cygnus, who make the TIE's and Missile Boats, respectively, for the Empire.

“Lotte, you’re drunk, and the last time we were together we were trying to kill each other.” She quirks her brow again, staring at you confusedly, swaying about. “How about I just put you to bed, we can talk about this some other time when you’re sober.”

“Ey, screw you!” She jabs her finger into your chest. “I’m always sober! I’m an Imperial Cap-“ She heaves, and nearly vomits on the floor before catching herself. You hold out your arms, just in case you need to catch her or hold back her hair. You know the drill. TIE Pilots back at the academy used to drink booze like Star Destroyers drank fuel. “Ugh… fine, take me to a room to sleep this off.”

You walk her down to one of the private rooms, usually reserved for guests, this time reserved for Lotte. You barge in, and hurry her over to the bathroom. Expertly, you pull back her hair, and hold her head over the toilet. She heaves, spraying her dinner all into the toilet. It’s sickening, it’s disgusting, but you’re used to it at this point. This happened a lot back in Flight School. “Ugh… take my jacket off, I’m hot.” You nod, pulling her jacket off. “… this is embarrassing, isn’t it?”

“For me, yes,” you say.

“Screw you,” she grumbles. “Imma…” She coughs, sputtering and spitting into the toilet. “Babababa… dang it, I am drunk, you’re right.”

Commander Luyties pokes her head in. “Ah, I was wondering where our illustrious Captain Ulgo was.” You nod to Luyties, and she pokes her head into the bathroom to see. “Cap’n, do ya want me to take over duties on the ship tonight since you appear to be indisposed.”

“Shut up, Dezma, you Corulag trash! Yes.”

Luyties nods. “Aye, aye.” She looks over at you, sighing. “This is what I deal with.”

“I feel sorry for you,” you say.

[1/2]
>>
>>45410473
[2/2]

“Don’t be.” She pats you on the shoulder. “If anything, this really improves my chances of taking over the ship over her one day. Oh well.” She claps her hands together. “Good night, Mister Cykgil. Cap’n.”

“Dezma, wait!” Luyties stops walking away, looking back. “… a-… am I embarrassing?”

“Yes.”

“Agh! Bugger!” Lotte falls backwards onto the cold floor of the refresher. “… just leave me here.”

The two of you leave the private room for Lotte. “I don’t understand it. She was second best in her class in Flight School, she passed through Officer Academy with flying colors, and yet this is what I have to deal with.” She groans, rubbing her head.

“Well, hey, something we have in common then.” You smirk, crossing your arms. With a quick glance, you’re already wondering how well stacked Dezma Luyties is underneath that uniform of hers. “I don’t suppose we can’t find a bit more common ground before you have to go in the morning, Dezma?”

“Charmed,” she says. “But not fooled.” She gently slaps your cheek. “Good night.” And with that, she walks away.

Well, worth a shot you guess.

Funny, you’re not sure why, but… you feel a lot less angry now all of a sudden. Wonder why that is.
>>
>>45410274
Obviously we get them all to do a joint venture.

>>
>>45412180
1. It's about letting the anger fester. If Rhys continues to be angry at people and everything around him, it's going to eventually hurt his relationships around him. It's a start forgiving Lotte.

2. The flare Launchers deploy emergency flares which can fool concussion missiles and send them running. The Sensor decoy deploys a sensor ping which fools other sensors into thinking there's another freighter of the exact same size and class. The de-ionizer negates ion damage that the ship sustains.

The armament itself is pretty powerful too.

What has been up with Misri this episode? She sounds really down, at least when not under the influence.

Also, what kind of blow did the rebellion just take, a significant one?
>>
>>45412422
She's mostly dealing with the fact that underneath it all Rhys really isn't the charming cool guy she thought he was.

As for the blow, losing the Separatist Holdout Fleet is a very, very, significant blow. It was quite possibly the largest fleet the Alliance can afford to muster at any time and they lost it ensuring the Katana Fleet would at least be a non-threat. Not just in ships either, but experienced officers like Admiral Attun Palalin were killed in the fighting.
>>
>>45412325
>>45412422
How many ships did the Empire lose in the fight?

Well Rhys did take her off of Coruscant and showed her a world beyond the supercity of Coruscant and took her to places like Manaan, Tython, the furthest reaches of the Unknown Systems. She certainly built him up on a pedestal.
>>
>>45412550
Honestly, I'll just never forgive rebelfags for fucking the rebels over like that.

And I'm sure Reike is actually quite satisfied we managed to set up a prominent rebellion fleet to be destroyed, even if it may not have been the intention (I'm sure it was for someone)

>>45412660
Yeah for all his bashing of philanthropists and idealists Rhys had always "done the right thing" to Misri (help our mandalorian friend, help save lotte's star destroyer, not kill that jedi, etc.). While an unwinnable situation (in which we were decent enough to give the rebels a head start and somewhat mitigate the katana threat) it was still Rhys turning his back on a friend, and the first time she had seen him turn his back on the "good fight" whatever that happened to be. It may even be a bit unfair to Rhys (most hero worship is) but its still understandable for Misri. Nice to see complexity in any relationship though, from a character standpoint, even negative. For example even though everyone else was fuming about what lotte had done (and it was truly dickish) I loved it from a character interaction angle. really drove the story with conflicting emotion and alternate viewpoints. Happy about the reconciliation too, even though they won't go back to being best chums its rare to get catharsis in a /tg quest. Have a good one!
>>
>>45412695
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure where the hate for Eudora came from. She never really did anything to us, but from reading some of the posts here you'd think she killed anon's dog or something.
>>
>>45412601
Well, it fits canon at least. At the point of the Battle of Yavin they were pretty hard against the edge and the loss of that base would've been the death knell instead of the turning point.
>>
>>45412891
Though at this rate, the rebellion will probably be dead and gone well before the canon Battle of Yavin.
>>
>>45412862

>>
>>45412929
More likely they'll shift tactics from fighting like a proper military towards what we saw in ANH, lots of secret cells, missions hidden by respectability, and a few concentrations of high-value forces.
>>
>>45412929
I don't think Rhys is going to have quite that big an impact. The rebellion is an Empire-wide phenomenon and is the product of Imperial oppression. Rhys hasn't really changed any of that. Pretty much so long as the Empire remains an oppressive dictatorship, the rebellion will continue.
>>
>>45413047
> product of Imperial oppression
No they're not. Alderaan hasn't happened yet. There isn't "Imperial oppression" for them to be rebelling against. They're a group of partisan holdouts from the old republic and the separatists, and once you kill them all, they're done.

And once Rhys gives the Empire the Dark Reaper, that'll be sewn up.
>>
>>45412857
Can we even afford something like that in our budget?

>>45413145
Technically speaking, the Rebel Alliance is far more than just partisan holdouts and Separatist holdouts as well. Tarkin's governance in the Outer Rim has resulted in thousands of farmers, industrial workers, and lower class citizens revolting due to Imperialization ripping their farms and infrastructure up to replace with military industry. The popular stereotype of farmers being rebels has a lot of fact because farmers generally get shit on.

And not to mention that the Empire generally uses authoritative governance over its systems both inner core and outer rim. Those who speak out are quietly made to disappear.

Of course, I'm speaking in terms of new canon in which Star Wars Rebels is basically all I have to go on.

>>45413219
It all depends on how wisely you spend money in the budget.

Its in the price range of 2.5-5 mil, has a neat history, fast and savage, and is something our cutest mando could inform us about when the initial purchase of two for the imperial fleet sours and mandalore look for other buyers. With its cargo capacity it must be able to fit a few fighters as well, even if we have to modify it. Just an idea. Mainly like this because of the history of it and the varied forces who use it throughout its production. 80 crew is standard compliment, thou between droids and that being merely the recommended crew it could easily be doable. In any case just an idea

> There isn't "Imperial oppression" for them to be rebelling against.
Even before Alderaan, the rebellion was steadily growing. Both the admirals on the Death Star and Leia said as much in ANH. Remember the whole "the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers" thing? The Empire was an oppressive dictatorship that took a hard line crushing any dissent. It also featured slavery, extreme overemphasis on the military, and a whole host of other problems that made a lot of people very angry. The rebellion was an expression of that anger.

>>
>>45413408
the thing is anon, will it be able to hold the lion's share.
>>
>>45413260
Those farmers, workers, etc. don't have warships or starfighters. The actual military forces of the rebellion were rep/sep leftovers that could be finished off for good. Aside from that, Tarkin's governance generated far more economic good than harm, so overall it didn't fuel the rebellion, and making troublemakers and partisans quietly disappear promotes order, not rebellion.

> Even before Alderaan, the rebellion was steadily growing
No it wasn't, it was on its last legs. So much so that the destruction of Yavin IV would have been the end of resistance against the Empire. They were the last holdout.
> Remember the whole "the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers" thing?
Empty bravado from a prisoner is meaningless.
> a hard line crushing any dissent
Which nearly worked, see above.
> slavery
Existed in the republic too.
> extreme overemphasis on the military
Because neglecting it was one of the most obvious failures of the republic.

Eh if cannon is anything to go by we can just bolt it on or seal it to the boarding hatch and it wont explode. Maybe. Dunno.

to be fair, the fleet has been cut off from the other cells.

This gives a good perspective

While cells continued operating the main thing that was under threat in episode 4 was the ability of the rebels to mount any sort of coordinated offense with a central or core force. That and if the death star was successful it would have crushed a great deal of rebel moral and willingness, especially as the empire demonstrated it gave no fucks about using it on a highly populated and developed planet.

In short with such a government there was always going to be a rebellion, but the events leading to the destruction of the first death star were instrumental in making possible that hte rebellion could possibly achieve something meaningful.

>Existed in the republic too.
No, it didn't. It existed outside the Republic in Outer Rim worlds like Tatooine that were functionally lawless.

There was plenty of slavery in the republic, they just turned a blind eye to it because the slaveowners were rich/powerful/senators. With slavery, the only difference between the republic and the Empire was that the Empire was honest about it.
