After two days rest on Coruscant, you were traveling to the Thurra system, to Thule. You had read up on the battle of Thule which occurred during the Clone Wars. Officially, a task force under the command of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were deployed to deal with a Separatist stronghold on the planet, and they succeeded but with extraordinary casualties. Unofficially, they were deployed there to stop the Dark Reaper project, and succeeded if the fact that the Empire is around and the Seps are nothing more than a footnote is any indication. The ISD Balmoral under the command of Lotte was accompanying you to Thule, on her way to return to her patrols in the Outer Rim.

And as you sat in the cockpit of your ship, you had a discussion with her on what she was finding on the planet surface. “The battle site over an old fortress is riddled with wrecks, old Republic assault ships and cruisers are dotting the landscape, combined with old tanks and walkers and stuff. Scavengers set upon it years ago, I’ve been trying to make contact.”

You nod. “Did you get anything back?”

“It’s astonishingly quiet,” she responds. “It could just be interference from all the scrap lying around, but even our surface scans aren’t picking up any significant life forms. TIE Scouts have already reported back saying that there are rogue bands of old droids that haven’t shut down, that’d probably explain it.”

“Anything you can do for me then?” you ask.

“I’ll have my TIE Bombers sweep the area, try and make a safe landing for you,” she says. “There’s a significant little colony we’ve identified that’s grown out of the wreck of an old Acclamator, you should probably check there first.”

“Thanks, Lotte.”

She smiles, giving you a bit of a salute. “Thank you, Rhys. Let’s make this an easy grab.”

Truth be told, you had to lie to Lotte about what you were looking for. You just told her you were looking for some old Separatist artifacts. You don’t even know if she knows what a Dark Reaper and a Force Harvester is. Hopefully not. Her image disappears off the holoprojecter as you leave the hangar of the ISD Balmoral.

As you approach the surface of the planet, you do see stray squadrons of TIE Bombers pelting the surface here and there, clearing out wandering troops of rogue droids. There was a small presence of colonists here and there on Thule, but most everybody knows it as a scavenger paradise what with all the wrecked Clone Wars tech lying around. Your first destination was a scavenger town

You land in the midst of old scrap buildings standing in the shadow of a capsized Acclamator assault ship. You and your crew step out via the boarding ramp to investigate. However, you decided to bring a special guest with you on this expedition. “Sir, are you sure it is safe?” Lev.

“Of course it is!” You wrap your arm around Lev, grinning. “Look, these droids think the Clone Wars are still going. You-“ You jab your finger on his hull. “-are going to keep up that masquerade for us. In case we run into trouble, which we probably won’t. We won’t.” You try to reassure him, Lev doesn’t come off the ship much if you’re honest.

He stares at you. “Comforting, sir.” Ugh, he’s picking up after R5.

Misri walks up to you, looking around. “Look.” She points down to a pile of ashes and what appears to be the remnants of a blaster and some clothes. Kuvasz kneels down beside it. “What is it?”

[2/3]

[3/3]

He grunts, taking off his helmet then sifting through the ashes with his fingers. “… human remains.” Misri gasps, immediately shifting behind you. “Something slaughtered all these scavvers, burned them where they stood.” He stands up, pulling his helmet back on. “Rhys, this isn’t a disruptor blast either, this was a pure incendiary blast that cooked this unfortunate fellow.”

“How can you tell?” you ask.

“Disruptor blasts usually leave slag and fluids from the unfortunate,” he says. “This is a pure ash pile, associated with extreme heat.”

“Well, great!” Vikker crosses his arms. “Someone’s burning all the scavvers before we get to talk with them. What now?”

> Investigate the cause of this, no scavvers have weapons that can vaporize people like that.

The five of you disperse around. You feel comfortable enough letting Misri stake out on her own for now, she’s been getting better with the blaster. Hopefully she won’t need to use it. Looking around the scrap heap of an outpost, it appears everything useful has been scrounged up and taken. No circuits, no processors, no power capacitors or converters, no droids, no vehicles, nothing. Whoever came to this place certainly was thorough enough to take everything but the kitchen sink.

However, you come upon a crater, then look on down into it. Right in the center of it was a shell, seems to not be live anymore. But you recognize the make and size of it. These were deployed in the dozens on Jabiim when you were a kid.

It was Defoliator shell.

You bring up your wrist comm-link. “Guys, I think I know what caused this.” You slowly slide down the crater, then take another gander at it. It’s not live. It must be a dud. You gently pat it, and immediately pull your hand away. A dud yes, still burning hot though. “Someone must have stolen some Defoliators or something, we might need to-“

“Halt!” You stop. You slowly turn around to see a pair of B1 Battle droids. Their hulls have been hastily welded up with some scrap plates, and one of them even has a new cybernetic photoreceptor replacing the old one. Across their bodies are black streaks, with a white star on the top of their heads. “Who are you? Nobody is authorized to be here.”

“Um.” You cough. “Er- I-“

The other droid turns to his compatriot. “Maybe he’s one of those replica droids I hear so much about.”

“Can’t be,” says the other. “Look at him, he’s way too relaxed to be a droid.”

“Well, replica droids are supposed to be relaxed.”

“There’s no such thing as replica droids, you’re thinking of –commando- droids.”

“Maybe he’s a commando droids.”

“Are your optics working properly?”

“Uh. Yeah. I am a droid! I am. Really. Roger, roger.” You salute, as stiffly as possible. “We just er…” You slowly climb up out of the crater towards them, smiling nervously. “We have very different goals.”

“So you are a replica droid!” The one B1 nudges his partner smugly. “How about that? I was right!”

The other cocks his head, skeptically. “I’ve never met a replica droid before.”

“Well, this is what we look like.” You pat your chest, nodding to them. “Some of us. Others look different.”

“Roger, roger. Well, you’re with us now, buddy.” The first B1 takes your wrist, leading you away from the crater. “The boss wants all functional droids repossessed and processed.”

“Wh- who’s your boss?” you ask.

“General Nautilus of the Separatist Alliance,” he says. There’s another Separatist holdout? You thought Eudora said her cell was the last one. Who the hell are these guys!? “Come on, buddy. We’re going for a walk.”

The droids don't seem very bright, if we can have Lev back u our claim maybe we can convince and convert them for informmation.
>>
>>45424016
Meh, I'm just hoping we can get a Magna-guard to join our crew.

a) Can protect us from the inevitable inquisition attack
b) It could also teach Misri how to actually use her lightsaber, since
Grevious had them programmed with lightsaber forms, so when she fucks up she can actually defend herself.
>>

Droids are almost never bright. That's why the Clones were developed: to think as rationally as any sentient, which droids can't do.
>>
>>45424089
She still needs a vibrosword, and getting these droid if anything at least for more info will benefit us. I suggest we at least try to trick them.

Like we are testing them to see if their programming was running correctly and due to their diligence are chosen for upgrading. Lev can back our claim.

“Uh, actually-“ They stop, looking at you. “I have my orders! From General Nautilus too! He needs to have you two checked for improvements.”

They cock their heads, confused. “Didn’t you just ask who our boss was?”

“I was testing you.”

“Oh, roger, roger.” They let go of you. “I will have to clear this with command and then we can-“

“Don’t!” you yell. They look back at you, surprised. “Uh, I can just er, improve you right here right now. We don’t need to go through all of that red tape, you know? Haha!” You really don’t want to be ventilated by B1s, that’s the worst kind of way to go. “Here, here, show me your head.” You lift up the access panel on the back of one of the droid’s heads.

“Hey, what are you doing!?” he asks. “You’re not-“ You hear a click. Uh oh. “Oh great, you activated my thermite bomb you-“ You duck, and just in time. The inside of the droid’s head explodes, showering flames out of the eye holes and through the weld lines. The body crumples in a heap.

The other droid looks at you. “You don’t seem to know what you’re doing. I’m calling-” He’s immediately toppled over by Kuvasz, who arrived on the scene. Of course someone would have heard all of that noise you all were making. “Ergh… what-“ Kuvasz steps down on his head.

“What happened!?” Misri runs over from a different direction. “What’s with the droids?”

“See if you can slice that one,” you say. She nods. The droid protests as Misri tries to access his internal hardware. Hopefully she won’t set off his internal bomb.

“Ow, let go! Let go!” he cries. He reaches for his blaster.

“Stop him!” you yell. You dive and try to the grab the blaster out of his hand. Kuvasz kneels down and tries to wrestle the droid into submission. Misri jumps back, knowing she won’t be much help until you subdue the droid. But despite their skeletal frame, they are a lot stronger than they look. He struggles, but manages to press the blaster to the bottom of his head. “Don’t. You. Dare!”

“See you in hell!” He fires, blasting a hole into his head, and setting off the internal thermite bombs implanted in their central computers.

Damn it. Useless.

Vikker hurries over, along with Lev. “What- what happened!?” he yells.

“Droids,” you say. “They have internal bombs in their brains. What kind of guy does that?”

“One that does not want their plans to be revealed,” says Lev. “Can we retrieve any information from them?”

“I can try,” says Misri. “But their hardware’s fried. I don’t know what I can recover.”

“Try,” you say. “They’re working for some guy. A General Nautilus.”

Lev grabs your arm, and you look back at him in surprise. Kuvasz and Vikker reach for their blasters, ready. “… did you say, General Nautilus?”

You blink. “You know him?”

“Yes,” Lev nods. “I remember it like it was only yesterday.” He turns his head skywards, his photoreceptors going dim.

“Lev.” You pat Lev on the head, trying to shake him awake. “Lev!” His photoreceptors brighten again, and he looks at you. “What are you talking about you remember it like yesterday? You know General Nautilus?”

“General Nautilus?” he turns his head up again. “I have not heard that name in years.” His photoreceptors go dim again. Misri tazes him with her arc welder. He flinches, waking up again. “Ow.”

“Don’t do that again,” you say. “Explain yourself.”

“General Nautilus was the Super Tactical Droid built to supersede my line of tactical droids. I and others of my class were obsolete by the late stages of the war, and the Alliance needed new more powerful and free-thinking Officers to replace the loss of veteran leadership. The Super Tactical Droids were built to be the perfect tacticians, an improvement upon my kind in every way, including personal combat as well.

Lev turns his head skyward. “It was the later stages of the battle of Felucia. General Nautilus had been promoted to command my former charge of ground units, an entire garrison of droids. Normally, when a Super Tactical Droid was replacing a T-Series, the T-Series would be sent to the foundries to be scrapped. However, like many others of my kind, those with long enough service time were allowed to remain as front-line officers, and that was where I was transferred. General Nautilus commanded us, and I obeyed.

“One day however, I was overseeing the transfer of my garrison to the frontline. I was marching along with my B1s in the middle of the column, accompanied by my droid commando bodyguards. My bodyguards had served with me since I was first enlisted, and I trusted them with my life. I unfortunately could not honor that trust, as we were caught in an ambush. Clone troopers riding AT-RTs were smashing into our lines, destroying us faster than we could reinforce. Our AATs were sniped by precision shots from AT-TEs we could not see. All around us, clone troopers were destroying my droids. It was a massacre. I called for retreat, but General Nautilus refused to send a shuttle to retrieve me or send droids to reinforce my position.”

“So he left you there?” you say.

“Yes. My droid commando bodyguard told me to run, and so I did. They said they would be right behind me. They were not. I continued to run until my audio receptors could not hear signs of battle anymore. I attempted to rendezvous with other elements of the droid forces on Felucia, but to no avail. General Nautilus pulled his forces out, leaving me to die.” Lev looks skyward again, this time fully awake and aware. “I survived on Felucia for three years on my own, thanks to the actions of that arrogant and poorly programmed ‘Super’ Tactical Droid. I have not seen or heard from him since.”

“Wow.” Misri gently hugs Lev, sighing. “Lev, I’m so sorry.”

“Do not hug me, droids do not hug,” he says. Misri insists on hugging him anyway.

Kuvasz shakes his head. “You poor soul.”

“So what now then?” says Vikker. “We just burned our only lead to Nautilus then.” He kicks one of the droid corpses. “What do we do?”

> Continue searching the site, there has to be some hints lying around.

“Let’s keep searching around. There has to be something we can find,” you say. Everyone nods. You look over to Lev, who is about to walk away. “Lev.” He stops, turning to you in surprise. “Listen, that was a nice story and everything. I’m glad you shared it with us.”

Lev nods, stiffly folding his hands behind his back. “Yes, sir. I am not a storyteller like Kuvasz, but I have not been mindwiped in decades, I still have something to say.” Fair enough. He turns around and gets back on walking.

As you search around the site, you make sure to see if there really is anything useful in these wrecks. But you find that you’re only wasting your time. Nothing it seems is worth anything you could sell or markets or strap to your ships or droids. It really does appear as if that General Nautilus has stripped everything useful from this area. He’s been thorough.

You blink, hm. You got a hunch. Occasionally, you gotta follow these hunches through. Most times they lead you to good stuff. You pull out your DC-17 and start walking towards one scrap pile. There’s something about it that seems off to you.

“Rhys!” Kuvasz walks over to you, keeping his hand on the holster for his DE-10. “You find anything?”

“I was just about to check,” you say as you approach the scrap pile. You pick up one huge pile of scrap, then slowly turn it over. And in that pile is a young woman, her face hooded by black wrappings and what appear to be cybernetics. Her skin is ghostly pale, and her hair silver white. One eye is patched over by a plate of metal, and her other eye is closed. “She’s alive!” You and Kuvasz hurry to grab more scrap off of her.

Until you see just how incorrect the term “alive” is for her. You blink. Her body is covered in cybernetic prosthetics. One entire arm is missing, shrouded over by a torn up cloak, and her legs are replaced by rather rustic looking cybernetic legs as well.

[1/2]
>>
>>45426660

She blinks her eyes awake, groaning. She coughs, her voice distorted by the mask underneath her facial wrappings. “Wh-…” You take her hand, helping her to sit up. She looks at you, then at Kuvasz.

“My name is Rhys,” you say. “Listen, I-“

The next thing you know, you’re on the ground, your face bleeding from an impact you didn’t see, and the entire world spinning out of control. What just happened.

“She’s Echani!” yells Kuvasz angrily. The girl lifts herself up to her feet, a new mechanical arm sprouting out of her backpack. He fires his DE-10 at her, and she absorbs the shots like they’re nothing until she closes in. Kuvasz wrestles with her, trying to bring her to her knees. She meanwhile is getting every jab and every punch in while she can. Her augmented limbs versus his Mandalorian strength, who will win!?

“Hey!” You hurry to stand up and grab your DC-17 off of the ground. She wrestles with Kuvasz, not even noticing you. He responds by punching her square in the gut, then throwing her to the ground. Not having it though, she rebounds with her backmounted arm and flips back into a ready position. You rush up and fire a few lower power blasts at her. No dice, she’s too well-armored. Kuvasz charges at her again, but this time, she swipes him into a pile of junk.

And as for you, she again punches you square in the face. You hear a loud ringing in your ear and see a star in the corner of your eye for a second. Suddenly, you feel the wind knocked out of you. Gut punch. She prepares to knock you over, but you punch her square in the good eye. She yelps, stepping back in pain. You hurry to hug her tight from behind and wrestle her back. She yells and screams out trying to wrestle you off.

Until Kuvasz comes to silence her. With a kick to the face, she’s KO’d instantly. You roll over and let her fall slack next to you, then you grab some cables off the ground and tie her up like a hog. “How’d you know?” you ask. He tilts his head at you. “That she was Echani?”

“White hair, white skin, silver eyes,” he says. “Echani are part of the Mandalorian legacy. We used to sack their homes and forcibly take their women as wives.” You stare at him. “That was centuries ago though, it’s alright. Echani are basically extinct anyway.”

“Well, not entirely,” you say. She groans, now waking up again. She hurries to try to get up, but finds that she’s been bound.

Misri, Vikker, and Lev hurry over. “We heard the noise, what-“ Misri stops in her tracks, looking down at the writhing and struggling cyborg beneath Kuvasz’s boot. “… who’s this?”

“What’s your name?” you ask.

“I’d spit at you if I was still capable of doing so,” she says through her mask. “I’ll never reveal anything to you, I’ll never reveal the location of my sisters’ either here on Thule or the base of operations!” … She blinks her good eye, apparently realizing she’s said far too much. “I’ll still never say anything beyond that.”

“Misri, can you er…”

She points down to the girl’s cyborg arm, finding a wrist mounted computer. “Hey, what are you doing!?” Misri quickly pulls a multitool off her toolbelt and starts slicing. “Get out of my computer! You blind- why are you even- Who are you!?” she yells.

“I was introducing myself before you punched me,” you say. “My name is Rhys Cykgil. The big guy is Kuvasz Skirata, the girl is Misri, and the Aqualish is Vikker. We’re looking for something here, trying to find out all we can.” You tap her nose, and she scrunches her face up in anger and resentment. “Like you, who are you? How did you get here?”

She scoffs. “We were eliminating the people here to make way for my employers, I unfortunately ended up caught in this debris. My name is…” She sighs, slowly settling. “I don’t have a name.”

“You don’t?” you ask.

“Well, my sisters all called me Whisper, which isn’t my real name, but that’s a different story,” she says quickly.

“Interesting nickname,” says Kuvasz.

> Whisper <
> The Echani Cyborg <

“So, Whisper.” You kneel down to her level, looking her dead in the eye. “We’re going to get the location of your base, we’re going to find out why you and those droids are here, and… yeah. That’s what we’re paid to do, and we’re not going to stray from that.”

“I’ll have you know, I am Echani! My sisters won’t stand for this!” she says.

Kuvasz tilts his head. “Should we just kill her?” Wow, that’s brutal, Kuvasz. Whisper seems to think so too, immediately shutting herself up.

“We can’t just shoot her!” says Misri. “She’s defenseless. I think she’s pretty cute too.” Whisper yells in frustration.

You slice the cables wrapping her up. She stands up, surprised. “Well, you can go,” you say.

She blinks. “… you’re just letting me go?”

“Oh, how can I kill such a pretty little face like yours?” you say simply. A hint of red to her good cheek tells you that worked. “Get going, don’t let me see you around here again.” She nods, stepping past you. She gives a very vicious glare at Kuvasz, before quickly running off into the distance, aided by her cybernetic legs. “Misri?”

She nods. “Planted it on her hood. She shouldn’t notice” Tracking devices, rarely used, often needed. “Back to the ship?”

“Back to the ship,” you say. “And get those droid bodies, we might have use for them yet.”

The Lion’s Share flies across the surface of Thule. The entire place is dotted with the craters from orbital bombardments, wrecked ships of all types, and scorched wasteland from the Battle. The Republic wasn’t kidding when they said that “horrific losses” took place here. Finally, you reach what appears to be looming fortress in the distance. “That must be it,” you say. “Whisper’s tracking device is still active too, so she’s leading us right to her.”

“We get into the fighters then?” asks Misri.

“Yep,” you say. “Come on. Dodger, Wilco, keep up the good work.”

“Roger, roger,” they both say.

You, Misri, Vikker, and Kuvasz hurry into your crafts. You slide on in and buckle up for a good ride. R5 is slotted into your astromech slot. “Greetings, sir. Can’t wait to be block a laser cannon aimed for your cockpit.” You roll your eyes. Misri as well slips right into the cockpit of her N-1T. “Sir, you’re letting Misri fly?”

“Most we’re going to see is droid Starfighters,” you say. “Shouldn’t be too bad.” Sparks yelps with glee as he’s dropped through the hangar. Your ship and her ship are run back on the crane, then dropped through the bottom of the ship. You engage engines and start flying, and Misri takes up after you. Finally, the H-Wing as well lumbers in behind you too. “Alright, everyone set?” They all call out a yes. “Good. Anybody see anything?”

Vikker starts off with, “Er, I got readings on what appears to be some shuttles in a courtyard in the middle of that fortress. Wait-“ Your commlink pings. “I’m getting a message. Patching you through.”

“Unidentified craft, identify yourself,” says a female voice. Definitely not Whisper. “You are in a restricted area by the order of General Nautilus. Turn back or be fired upon.”

“This is Ace Dixon of the Separatist Alliance,” you say. “I represent the leadership of the Corporate Alliance, we are here to investigate matters regarding General Nautilus’ presence here on Thule. Stand by for security code confirmation.” You patch Lev through, and he quickly sends his codes through to the other end as you approach.

“Hm. According to our droids, it’s an older code, but it checks out,” she says. “Very well, you and your ships may land. We will come meet you personally, Dixon.” Their transmission cuts out.

“Ace Dixon?” asks Misri incredulously.

“I’m not good with aliases,” you say. “Kuvasz and Vikker will follow me in. Misri, stay with the Lion’s Share on overwatch until we get back, okay?”

Your ship and the H-Wing lower yourselves into the crumbling old fortress courtyard. In your view now are columns of old droids, scraped together with spare parts. Some of the B2s you see don’t even appear to have their blaster arms, opting to instead mount weaponry directly on a swivel. Your ships land between the shuttles, and coming to meet you now is a trio of women wearing white and black robes, with hoods, wrappings, and goggles obscuring their identities. Though the robes aren’t leaving quite much to the imagination if you do say so yourself.

You step out, smiling at them. Kuvasz and Vikker also dismount from the H-Wing, staying by the ship while you meet them. You hold out your hand to the girls. “Ace Dixon, Corporate Alliance.” With a smirk, you look at them up and down. Whisper definitely has some fine looking sisters.

I am sure that you can understand that such great undertakings require a measure of redundancy direct oversight, especially relating to security. “And how did you avoid that Star Destroyer?” asks Rina.

“Call me good at avoiding conflict,” you respond. “But listen, it was sent to the right place, was it not?”

They nod. “Of course, it was sent to the middlemen to hold out for Nautilus.” She crosses her arms. “You do know who the middlemen are, right?”

You blink. Damn it. “Sure I do.” They stare suspiciously at you. Even from behind those goggles of theirs, you can feel their glares burning holes in you. “What about you? They seemed a bit off to me.”

“Hutts are reliable,” says Meetra. “They won’t ask questions. And I-“

“Sisters!” you hear a familiar scream. Oh no. They look back, to see Whisper rushing in. “Sisters! I survived!” She stops when she sees you standing next to them. “Rhys Cykgil!”

“Rhys?” says Meetra.

You shrug. “Alias.”

“He’s a spy!” And immediately you were on the ground again. You spit out some blood and set your jaw. The Echani were retreating. “Whisper, cover our retreat!”

“Gladly, Sisters!” yells Whisper. “Droids, attack!” B1s and B2s start closing in on you all from every direction. Kuvasz and Vikker hurry to grab you and pull you into cover behind a pile of crates and rubbish.

“Come on!” You come to a crouch and fire your blasters at the incoming droids. Their blaster fire doesn’t deter you from taking a few potshots at them. Whisper stands in the back, egging them on, before going to follow her sisters. “We’ve got to catch those Echani!”

“R3!” Vikker yells over his commlink. “Cover us with the H-Wing’s turret!” Immediately, the incoming droids are blasted and torn to shreds by the rapid fire canon mounted by the H-Wing. Good enough for you. You mantle the crates and hurry with Kuvasz through the chaos and explosions happening all around you. Vikker stays behind to keep the Starfighters covered. “Sparks!”

A pair of B2s come to stop you, before being crushed to pieces by Sparks. Sparks starts firing down and blasting at the droids, his heavy hull being nearly impervious to their attacks as you dive under him and follow the Echani inside of the bigger buildings. The keep you’d guess.

“Wait!” yells Whisper up ahead. “I’m coming too, Sisters!” Might as well follow the sound of her voice. The hallways are metallic, lined with arches and columns jutting out from the sides, lit only by lamps brought in like you’d see at archaeological digs.

Suddenly in your path are a trio of BX-series commando droids. “Commandos!” yells Kuvasz. You and him start firing at them. They start advancing on you, then start jumping and flipping around to dodge your shots and fire at you from unexpected angles. They’re bouncing off the walls, and the ceilings, before they finally close in. You manage to nab one before the second tackles you down. The other starts wrestling with Kuvasz, trying to choke him out.

You smack the one droid in the head, knocking it off its swivel and exposing a few wires. You finish it off by grabbing its neck and smashing the entire thing into the ground. Its head bursts into flames soon after, thermite. They’re all designed to purge their systems like that! Kuvasz growls as he holds the droid over his head, then snaps the droid’s spine on his knee. He finishes it off by stomping on his head. “Nice work, gramps,” you say.

“Good show, kid,” he responds.

The two of you hurry on through the hallways until finally you reach one of the Keep’s main hangars. A Theta-2c shuttle is waiting for them, with more droid commandos coming to defend them. “Sisters, I’m coming too!” Whisper hurries to join her sisters in the shuttle, but before she can board, she’s pushed down by Meetra. “Agh! What are you-“

“This time, stay dead, and stop being a nuisance to us, Whisper!” Whisper stares back at them as the boarding ramp shuts. The shuttle hurries out of the hangar, before you can do anything.

“Lotte!” you call. “There’s a shuttle leaving the area, you have to sto-“ A swarm of dozens of Vulture droids immediately flies past you, hurrying to escort the shuttle out of the area. Along with them as well go a trio of Rogue-class Starfighters manned by MagnaGuards. “… stop it.”

“We’ll deploy fighter screens to intercept!” yells Lotte.

Not so special with your fancy flips and tricks are they? “Vikker?” Kuvasz calls over his commlinks. “How are things looking out there?”

“Me and Sparks are holding the courtyard, but there are droids everywhere!” he yells.

Kuvasz pats your shoulder. “We gotta go.” You nod, hurrying to follow him, but before you do, you turn back to see Whisper. She’s on her knees, staring out of the hangar, apparently stunned and in shock. “Come on!”

There's a lot of squishy, puss-ridden, meatbag flesh to clean out of it. That could take a while.

>>45431403
So we're all onboard and 100% confirmed to pick one up at Kuat, then?

The Echani have a long and storied history. Reducing one of them to "pleasure droid" is a bit much.

> “You go on ahead, I’ll be right behind you.”

“Go on ahead,” you say. He cocks his head, confused. “Go on, I’ll be right behind you.” You hurry to meet with Whisper, then gently kneel beside her. Kuvasz sighs in frustration, then hurries on without you. “Hey. You alright?”

She looks over at you, and out of her good eye tears are flowing. “Sh- they-“ She shakily holds her hand up. “I… Aaah!” She buries her face in your shoulder, sobbing loudly. She gasps loudly, then continues sobbing into your shoulder. “Why would they leave me!? Aaaahhhh! I’m their sister too!”

You blink. Erm.

Well, this isn’t the first time you’ve had to comfort a crying girl before.

“Um, there, there.” You gently wrap your arms around her, patting her on the back. “It’ll be okay.”

“No it won’t!” she whines to you. She beats on your chest with her fist, crying and shrieking loudly. “Why is everything I do a failure!?”

You sigh. You pick up your comm-link. “Lev, can you do something about the droids to help out Kuvasz?”

“I will try, sir,” he says. “But they are operating on a different frequency than I am familiar with. The results may not be as-“

“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” You shake your head, then gently stand up Whisper on her feet. “Come on, Whisper. We’ll get you out of here.” You start dragging her out of the door. She continues crying into your shoulder, her feet loudly screeching as the metallic feet scratch the surface of the floor.

The Lion’s Share lands within the midst of the courtyard, and out of it steps Lev. The old droids are busy writhing and twitching in apparent confusion. “What did you do?” you ask. Whisper continues quietly crying into your arm, having tired herself out.

“I sent a shutdown order to them,” he says. “But due to the interfering frequencies and their… advanced states, they are not processing the order properly.”

“Aaagh! Make pain stop!” One of the B2s stumbles around. “Make. Pain. Stop!” He immediately points his wrist blaster at himself, then fires, shattering his entire face. He falls over dead. A few more droids in the background as well shoot themselves rather than continue to suffer through the paradoxical commands issued to them.

“… I see,” you say. Kuvasz, Misri, and Vikker gather around as you call up Lotte. “Lotte, did you intercept the shuttle?”

She sighs, rubbing her forehead. “We couldn’t. There were too many Vultures, and those Magnadroids in those Rogues sent my TIEs running. I’m down ten TIE fighters and a TIE bomber. Not to mention some of those Vultures decided to ram the ship while they were going down. We did manage to get a basic guesstimate based on their last trajectory. They were heading for the Outer Rim.”

“Alright, thanks anyway, Lotte,” you say.

She shrugs. “Sorry. I’ll send the report to Admiral Reike for you.” She tilts her head, then looks at Whisper. “Who the hell is that?”

“Er, just send the report,” you say.

She rolls her eyes. “Typical. Rhys.” She exits the conversation.

Kuvasz glares at Whisper, who still leans into your arm, now completely tired from all the crying she’s done. “So… are we keeping her?” You look down at her. She doesn’t seem to really care either way. “I mean, we already have one girl to look at, I don’t think we need a third of one.”

Vikker crosses his arms. “What’s your beef with Echani?”

“They only count as a third of a person,” he says.

> “Whisper will join us, at least until we can find a good place for her to stay.”

“Regardless, this third of a person is joining us,” you say. Kuvasz sighs loudly. “At least until we can find her a good place to stay. I don’t want to just leave her here to die like her sisters did, it’s not right.”

Vikker nods slowly. “Um. Okay.” Whisper looks at Kuvasz, then at Vikker. “Er, Rhys, I’m not sure if this is the best idea.”

“Like I said, until we can find her a good place to stay,” you reiterate.

Whisper looks at Lev, who tilts his head at her, curiously. Misri however walks up to her, shocking her a bit. “I like your arm.” Whisper looks at the lack of arm beneath her robe. “Er, the one on your back, it’s pretty cute.”

“Oh, yeah, yeah.” Whisper nods, taking it up and hugging it a bit. “It’s… I mean, I had a third arm, well- a second, the one on the back is the third, th- I lost the other one in battle.” Misri smiles, offering her hand. Slowly, Whisper takes her hand and shakes it, in a bit of skepticism. “Erm, thank you.” She looks at Vikker and Kuvasz. “I will try not to let any of you down. I promise. I’m pretty good with droids and mechanics I guess.”

“Neat!” Misri pats her shoulder, shocking her. “We can be best buddies then! Come on, I’ll tell you about what goes on in this ship.” Misri hurriedly leads Whisper inside.

Kuvasz crosses his arms. “I don’t trust her.”

“She got abandoned by her sisters, look at her,” you say. “I thought you left the Mandalorian culture because of stuff like this.”

“I left the Mandalorian culture because we constantly waged wars in self-destructive manners,” he says. “Not to mention our culture glorifies it. Look, I don’t like it. But if she genuinely earns your respect beyond being a girl of the week for you, fine, she will have my respect too.”

“Same,” says Vikker. “Echani aren’t exactly good news. They’re not the most normal kind of people.” You shrug. Fair enough. You all start walking up the boarding ramp.

“Sir.” Lev folds his hands behind his back. “We will be ready to salvage what we can, but I believe there will not be much left for us here. Shall we plot a new destination?”

>Salvage, repair, and commandeer the shuttles so we can haul all the loot.

He runs an art gallery, but that doesn't guarantee he's deep in artifact trafficking, or any trafficking, really. Didn't Rotta want to stay out of the business?
>>
>>45432337
True, but he knows the Hutts since he grew up being prepped for the family business.

He can at least narrow down the possible suspects the echani send the artifact to is what i'm saying.
>>
>>45432264
Which is why none of them are people.
>>
>>45432337
Besides some Hutts specialize on different trades. Rotta probably knows a few since their family before he went to do his own thing.
>>
> Go to Nal Hutta. They mentioned huts. See if that’s worth investigating.

“Take us to Nal Hutta, I happen to know a few people there that can probably show us the way,” you say. He nods, leading you to the cockpit. You’ll alert Lotte as to where you’re going. But unfortunately, she won’t be able to accompany you to Nal Hutta. She has her own problems to deal with. “And you know, Lev.” You stop him at the door to the cockpit. “Whisper was left for dead by her sisters.”

He nods. “So?”

“You know.” You shrug. “Just er… something to think about. Maybe you two might have something in common.”

“My current duty to you is to hunt down General Nautilus. But when I see him again, I will kill him,” he states. Duly noted. “I will set course for Nal Hutta, sir.”

“Good.” The cockpit door shuts behind Lev. And besides that, you decide to call up Rotta. After a few minutes of patching it through, you find him apparently in the midst of some business. “Rotta, listen, I need a favor, can you do that?”

“Oh?” He rubs at his thirtieth chin somewhere on his body. “Why? What is it?”

“I’m heading to Nal Hutta.” He gasps, shocked at the thought of it. “I’m tracking a particular package, and I’m told that some Hutt gangsters might be the middleman in trafficking the thing. Do you know anybody who might be associated with that? Besides your father of course.”

“Oh, well…” He scratches at his head, nervously. “Things haven’t been the same for the Hutts since the Shadow Collective, so whoever’d be silly enough to operate out of Jabba’s jurisdiction would have to be a brave and absolutely crazy to operate without him!” He gasps again. “And I do in fact know just the person.”

[1/2]

[2/2]

“Who?” you ask.

“His name is Fearghus the Hutt,” he says with a heavy sigh punctuating it. “We used to er… he was a friend of mine growing up but er… he has very wild interests.”

Wild interests? “What do you mean?”

“You know about the Kaleesh war culture, right?” You nod. Of course, the Kaleesh are one of the most well-known warrior cultures in the Galaxy, below the Mandalorians. “Well… y- you’ll have to see for yourself. But listen, if he starts going on about the Kaleesh, do not offend him. He doesn’t take that too kindly.”

Oh, one of –those- people. “He can’t be too bad, right?”

“He commands an entire clan of displaced Kaleesh warriors as well as has a small stock in smuggling arms and weaponry to people like the Rebellion,” he says very quickly and intensely. “But, hey, you should be fine.”

The Echani are functionally extinct, so it's not worth tracking them. The only Echani we know are Whisper and her three sisters.
>>
Sigh the dreams of salvage go forever unheeded.
>>
>>45432570
1. A good amount of droid bodies, all dead due to the Thermite bombs cooking all of their essential function circuitry when they die or unauthorized access is detected. Their E-5s as well are yours, about twenty or so.

2. Nah. But Whisper can be added in as a crewmember.

3. No faction changes and no upgrades currently.

>>45432615
It's okay Anon, if anything Admiral Reike will think of it as a plus that you leave things for him to recycle and salvage.
>>
>>45432536
Are we giving Misri a Commando Droid's Vibroblade for her to practice on?
>>
>>45432536
Hey thanks for running! Any ideas for possible corvettes if things go in that direction? Just curious in what you might possibly consider for options (if that ever does become a thing). Probably quite a few possibilities, any catching your eye. Or does nothing seem to suit what plans you have for the quest? If not that's OK I love this wild ride so far and would not complain if getting a little big time would hamper Rhys story.
>>
>>45432643
Wait, what about the extra Shuttles?

and I thought Lev helped them to shut down and some of them were struggling but not all of them killed themselves.

and didn't a lot of votes supported repairing an salvaging?
>>
>>45432694
We're making a beeline to Nal Hutta. Figuring out the schematics of hauling all that scrap and actually selling it off before Nal Hutta is too much work. Rhys is not a professional scrapper.
>>
>>45432643
Couldn't we kit bash a lot of the spare droids into something usable? I mean we have two mechanics who are good at their job,
>>
>>45432650
1. She's practicing with one on the side.

2. To be honest, I'd rather keep the Quest where it's at on the Lion's Share. I like the idea of a stupidly fast and overarmed ugly piece of shit being the MC's home for now. Anything bigger would probably involve too much work to keep track of.

>>45432694
1. Now salvage for Admiral Reike, he'll mark it down.

2. He didn't shut them down, he sent out a shutdown order that conflicted with their order to turn back on and as a result the droids are all popping their brains trying to process it. Most have already killed themselves, others are simply dying trying to work the paradox.

3. For now, Rhys is not here to salvage. He's leaving it to the Empire to salvage it for him.

>>45432738
What ideas did you have in mind?
>>
>>45432730
but we have a salvaging apparatus for this type of thing and Misri is practically a scrapper and probably whisper as well.
>>
>>45432773
We can probably have enough part to get some B1's back online since their made of a simple construction.

The Commando Droids corpses have very durable armor in which can upgrade our OOM-Droids.

The B2 Battle Droids corpses also for restoration since there were a lot of them but more complex but Misri and Whisper can probably do something about it. Not to mention their Wrist blaster can be a good concealble weapon.

Use some of the droids to make a auto-pilot of the At-Dp kind of like sparks.

Not to mention selling it to the Mando girls sicec they needs the droids to man their undermann ships.
>>
>>45432773
what type of shuttles were they? I feel we might get underpriced like with lotte when we were out destroying Rebel ships.

and these are perfectly intact shuttles.

>>45432773
Wouldn't shutting them down manually and giving them a memory wipe help in this regard?
>>
>>45432643
Okay, How old is she, and her equipment.
>>
>>45432773
Heyo what would you say are some options for improving Rhys' combat skills (not that he's a slouch) besides equipment? Maybe a lesson or two from kuvasv?
>>
>>45432901
exactly. we can also probably get new processing cores for our droids off of Reike.
>>
>>45432901
Pretty interesting ideas. I'll see if I can work them in.

>>45432939
Sheathipedes-class transports.

>>45432974
There's no way to reliably shut them down. Lev might be a Tactical droid and thus has some element of authority, but the droids you encountered today work on a different command frequency which means Lev can't just shut them all down. Trying to invasively shut them down will mean they set off the thermite and cook their brains.

>>45433028
Whisper is 17 years of age. Her equipment includes cybernetic legs, a cybernetic arm mounted at the base of her spine, a data eyepatch covering her left eye, a wrist mounted holopad for data storage, durasteel knuckledusters, and armor plating across her chest and her one good arm.

>>
>>45433223
You don't have the facilities to make a new processing core, and as for expense, I haven't fully calculated that because I didn't expect y'all to be this determined in getting new droids. I'll need to figure that out later.
>>
>>45432773
When did she get a vibrosword?

Was she borrowing Rhys's sword before? and now she has her own?
>>
>>45433297
She's borrowing Rhys' sword. You never use that thing anyway.
>>
>>45433282
Well there are several reasons for that.

Some want to use them to man a bigger ship.

Droids are useful.

We can sell them to either the Mandos or Jennis since both need scrap/droids for their own needs.
>>
>>45433318
But we took one from the dead Commando droids so she can't stop borrowing ours?

Idea: Lotte dreaming about the stuff that she'd have to do to make up with Rhys prior to them meeting up again. Since it's Lotte's imagined version of Rhys, he's an even bigger pervert than the real Rhys and demands all sorts of groveling and lewdness. Then afterward she wakes up, starts sobbing when she realizes that it was all a dream and Rhys will probably never forgive her, and tries to drown her sorrows with alcohol. Then bully the Lotte some more.
