Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you called home to El-Amin and took a bath.

It is currently the 27th of Svarthi, in the year 936 NH.

You wake up in a bed, though you don't immediately recall who's it is. Darzi is curled up next to you, one of her legs draped over your own and her head rested on your chest. Judging by the light streaming through the slats on the window, it's probably about two or three hours past sunrise. You've still got a few hours until you need to leave, but you'll want to be out of Nazir by noon if you wish to reach the gates of Marqash by nightfall.

You try to extricate yourself from underneath Darzi, but quickly realize doing so would entail waking her. Considering how rarely it is that she manages to sleep peacefully, you'd be loathe to interrupt her now. Still, you must consider the matter of your companions. Judging by the suit of Elaudian Armor standing watch in the corner, this is Darzi's bedroom. If you were caught leaving, it would be rather difficult to explain why you were stalking out of her room first thing in the morning reeking of sex.

With a labored sigh you relax, resolving to just enjoy the comforts of a warm bed for now. Part of you wants to roll Darzi on her back and have another go, but you're not sure surprising her like that would be the wisest decision. Starting off the night before she'd been so timid, just getting her to relax required an immense effort on your part. She was more comfortable the second time around in an actual bed rather than a public bath, but even then she was not nearly so eager as Aisha had been. She was gentle, even tender, and surprisingly submissive. Overall you'd say the experience was different, but not unpleasantly so.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a heavy knock, the suddenness of it enough to startle you. Darzi stirs reluctantly at your side, rolling lethargically onto her back and stretching her arms over her head. She mumbles something unintelligible as the covers fall away to reveal her breast, though you don't have much time to admire them. The knock comes again again with more insistence.

>You can turn invisible, just hide somewhere and keep out of sight.
>It's probably just a servant, tell them to come back later and start getting dressed.
>Probably better if you didn't talk. Hopefully Darzi can handle this one herself.

Nature magic, check who it is. Well basically check it if its a party member or not. Decide based off of that knowledge.
>>
>>45479427
I mean Chrys should have an earthy tone to her vys, does it really matter if anyone else sees us?
>>
>>45479427
You could probably get a vague idea. Talking height, sex, magical prowess, general body shape. Enough to eliminate most of your party members, probably.
>>
>>45479357
>>It's probably just a servant, tell them to come back later and start getting dressed.
Doctor's offices suck. Shitposting better.
>>
>>45479461
Then let's make sure it isn't a party member, on anyone with a high vys level, as they would probably be important, and just tell them to come back later

I'll write for this, briefly, and then we can go from there. If it's just a servant, you'll tell them to come back later. Otherwise, put it to another vote.
>>
I only really care if its Chrys or not. Not because I care what Chrys thinks about Mik, that ship sailed, but I don't want to mess with Darzi's and Chrys's friendship you know? They have a good thing going.
>>
>>45479603
This, and I feel like Chrys doesn't need much of an excuse to try to kill us.
>>
>>45479357
This is a wonderfully cozy way to start off today's quest.

You push yourself up in bed, channeling Nature magic to try and get an idea of who it is on the other side of the door. The world is cast in shades of green and the walls fade into transparency. Two figures are illuminated standing in the other room. One is short, by Samjan standards. You suppose they'd be tall by any other metric. They seem magically competent but not exceptionally so, with a particularly dense concentration of vys around their abdomen. You fairly confident in your assumption that they're female, and most likely of your own race.

The other is much shorter than the other, probably no more than five and a half feet tall. They might have some minor magical ability but their vys reserves are so small it can't be particularly noteworthy. You think they're probably a human woman, though they could be an elf. Regardless, you feel confident saying that neither of them are your companions. Thus, there's probably no harm in telling them off.

Cutting the flow of vys, you share a glance with Darzi. She simply shrugs, her thoughts drifting through your own. {Any idea who it is?}

You hold your wrist together, as if they've been shackled, and Darzi sighs, mouthing the word 'breakfast' to you. Ahh, that's rather convenient really. Raising your voice you call out to whoever it is on the other side. “Just leave the tray somewhere, we'll be out in a moment.”

There's a pause before the familiar voice of Hasna, your brother's wife, answers. “Mikhael? What are you doing here?”

>Nothing?
>What is SHE doing here?
>Sleeping, until a moment ago.
>Promise to explain later, with no intention of doing so.

Why in the name of the Gods would Hasna be calling upon one of your companions first thing in the morning? “Well, until a few moments ago I was sleeping.”

It sounds like there's a terse conversation on the other side of the door, though you can't make out much of it. Finally Hasna's voice carries once more through the wood. “I think I must have the wrong room. My apologies for disturbing you.” Two pairs of footsteps recede, and after a moment's delay a door can be heard closing with a dull thud.

That was... an odd way to start your morning. You look to Darzi, but she seems just as confused as you are. Regardless you slip out of bed and collect your pants off the floor, conjuring a bit of water from your surroundings to wash off any remnants of the night before. You find your shirt draped over the bed frame, but neither your robe, your boots, nor your cloak are anywhere to be seen.

Darzi passively watches you dress, pulling the covers a little tighter around herself to accommodate for your absence. As you're checking under the bed for any sign of your missing clothes, she finally breaks the growing silence. “So, I suppose this was just a one time thing?” It's a question, or at least you think it's a question. She's careful to keep her tone neutral so it's somewhat hard to tell.

If you're being honest, you hadn't really given it much thought. “I doesn't have to be if you don't want it to. That said, you'll need to deal with Chryssa if this is going to work. Gods only know what she'd do to me if I told her, or if she found out by accident.” Getting your skull caved in by a woman who seems capable of very nearly any feat of strength put before her is not your idea of a good time.

Crouched as you are by the edge of the bed, Darzi's able to reach out and run her fingers through your hair. “This was nice, that was probably the best night's sleep I've had in months.” She speaks slowly, choosing each word carefully. “So long as I break the news gently I don't think Chryssa is going to be too torn up about our being together so... how about tonight?”

It's clear your robe isn't under the bed, so you abandon your search. Maybe you left your clothes in the sitting room. “I don't think tonight is going to work, I'm flying to Marqash to rescue my kidnapped niece from a rival noble house who's matriarch we're keeping locked in the dungeon. However, when I get back-”

Darzi sits up straight, ignoring for a moment her state of undress. “Hold on, when was this decided? You didn't think to tell anyone about your running off on your own to play the noble savior?”

You shrug your shoulders. “My brother only told me about it last night, and then immediately following that conversation I joined you in the bath. We both know I didn't have much opportunity to go about contacting the others after that.” She's about to speak, but you interrupt her with a brief kiss. “Relax! It shouldn't take more than a day and I probably won't even have to kill anyone.”

>>
>>45481355
What are you saying? Are you calling mik a pig?
>>
For a moment you think she's going to be angry, but it doesn't last. The tension drains from her shoulders and she slumps back onto her pillow with a defeated sigh. “Fine, just be careful. I'll talk to Chryssa later today and sort things out with her while you're well out of shooting range.”

All things considered you got off lighter than you were expecting, and so slip out into the sitting room to see if you can't find the rest of your clothing. Your robe and cloak are both draped over the back of a sofa, while one of your boots is sitting by the door. The other is slumped over by the fire place, for whatever reason. It takes you only a few moments to finish getting dressed, and a little bit of Nature magic tells you that the hallway is empty.

Shutting Darzi's door gently behind you, you consider your next move. You still have a few hours to kill until you need to depart for Marqash, but there'd be no harm in getting a bit of a head start. On the other hand you could probably enjoy a hot breakfast and get some reading done if you delay until noon.

Profectus has been unconscious for probably around twelve hours at this point, you don't think you were out for nearly that long. Granted your memories of it are pretty hazy, and granted you were woken up somewhat prematurely by Fulvia when she restarted your heart, but still you worry for the degenerate bastard. Besides, his room is just down the hall from Darzi's so you'd pass it anyway on your way down to the courtyard.

You cross the intervening distance and push open Profectus' door, poking your head in to make sure you're not intruding on anything. Finding the room empty you step inside, leaving the door open for now. There's a fire going in the fireplace and a black iron tea kettle hanging above it. Judging by the smell of cinnamon, mint, and cumin drifting faintly through the room you're guessing the tea is for Profectus. You recall your mother used to make you the exact same thing whenever you had an upset stomach.

Knocking on the door earns you a splitting headache, Fulvia's voice pounding through your skull with all the subtlety of an axe. {The door is unlocked, Dux. You are welcome to enter.}

Channeling a bit of vys dulls the pain and reinforces your mind against further intrusion, and only once that's done do you push the door open. Profectus is still asleep, though it looks like he's begun to wake up. He tosses and turns fitfully in bed, the sheets soaked with sweat and his skin is even paler than it is usually. Despite the sweat pouring off him he's shivering violently, and all that aside he seems to be muttering under his breath unintelligibly.

Fulvia stands by his bed with her arms folded behind her back, she nods to you in greeting. {He has been getting progressively worse for much of the last hour. Before that, he was not moving and his heartbeat was both weak and irregular. I believe it is ultimately the artifact in his chest that has prevented his heart from stopping. I am hopeful that he will soon awaken.}

You're not sure if you share her confidence, though you suppose it's good that he's moving. As you draw closer you're able to make out what he's saying a little more distinctly but it doesn't sound like it's in either Rhynian or Samjan. Probably the Elven tongue, if you had to guess. {Are you able to understand what he's saying?}

Fulvia nods once more, the motion precise. {He has been repeating the phrase 'I don't want to' for twelve minutes now. His thoughts are too scattered for me to glean any information from them.}

Out of curiosity you try reaching out to him via the brooches, and immediately your thoughts are assaulted by a slew of images. You see a town burning, an older elven woman, perhaps a dozen soldiers gathered around a fire, and a stone arm holding aloft a severed head before you ultimately sever the connection. Fulvia is right, the sheer glut of information is a little too much to process all at once.

Drawing water from your surroundings, you freeze a thick coat of ice along the surface of your palm and press it to Profectus' brow. The ice immediately begins to melt, but it's a simple matter to replenish what's lost. The cold seems to sooth your friend and companion to some limited extent, his thrashing no longer quite so vigorous.

Channeling Nature magic reveals that his body is very nearly devoid of vys, though there is some meager spark of life buried deep within his chest. What's curious is that gathered around him is a great concentration of ambient vys, bright enough to drown out the green and leave only white. It's almost like he's desperately trying to replenish his reserves but he can't.

>Recommend Fulvia jolt him awake, as she'd previously done with you, even though his heart is still beating.

It is actually a very old tradition of the Spanish tradition, dating back 500 years. The correct answer is to drape it over your cock, failing that and if no cock is provided draping it over your head is also acceptable. Hence why the man who has a cock and the other woman, supposedly his wife or lover doesn't have their napkins on their heads because it is draped over his cock

You focus more specifically on his arm, and notice something odd. Though the arm itself had regrown it seemed to be little more than an empty stone shell. The gem embedded in his shoulder glows brightly while the rest of the arm is more or less transparent and utterly devoid of vys.

Maintaining the flow of Nature magic, you begin to extend a tendril of vys from your own reserves to those of your companion. It's interesting watching this third limb extend from your chest, twisting through the air erratically and parting the ambient vys in its path. Finally it reaching Profectus and slides through his skin as if it isn't even there, binding itself instead to the smoldering ember sitting where his reserves once were.

A simple manipulate spell reverse the flow of vys, and you're able to watch as your vys rapidly floods into the hollow tube connecting you to your friend. Almost the moment your vys joins with Profectus' reserves, it shoots off instead to the gemstone embedded in his shoulder. You frown at this realization, and in the hopes of preventing the gem from robbing your companion of his vys you try reinforcing his reserves with Metal magic.
>Vys Pool: (61/66)

Your efforts seem to pay off, and though the flow of vys to the gemstone remains strong it's not so rapid as to drain Profectus' reserves entirely. Instead the ember slowly grows into a spark, and vys once again begins to diffuse throughout the entirety of his body. The shivering stops, as does the thrashing, and eventually the built up vys surrounding him begins to flow into his reserves instead of just surrounding him like some sort of glowing aura.
>Vys Pool: (51/61)

(1/2)
>>
You cut off the flow of vys from your reserves into his, the vys which made up the structure of the leech spell slowly dissipating into ambient vys. You keep channeling Nature magic for a time to ensure that the vys you've pushed into his reserves doesn't immediately break away and get sucked up by the gem in his shoulder, but it seems like you've done enough to ensure that he can naturally replenish his reserves.

The green filter vanishes, and color returns to the world. Profectus lies still before you, what little color he had to begin with returning to his cheeks. He's still running a fever, but it's falling rapidly. Just as you're about to declare your task done he starts convulsing, blood bubbling up from the back of his throat. You think he might be drowning.

Fulvia is quick to step in and roll him over onto his side, vomit spilling onto the sheets of the bed. It seems to be mostly mucous and spit, tinged an unsettling shade of pink. You think you might have done the same thing when you first woke up, but there lies the difference. You were awake when it happened.

>Well, you seem to have dealt with the worst of his problems. Reach out to Zahak and tell him to meet you in the courtyard.

You reach out tentatively through the brooches, trying to get an idea of whether or not Mortia is awake yet. Judging by the faint stirrings of emotion you're able to glean from her thoughts, you'd guess that she isn't yet but she will be soon. Thus you turn to Fulvia and instead convey your orders to her. {When Mortia wakes up, tell her to assist you with Profectus. I need to be on my way but I think I've already dealt with the worst of his issues.}

She bows her head, cyclopian eye flashing briefly. That body of hers is a curious thing, you're still not quite sure what to make of it if you're being honest. You'd hoped that with time she'd learn to better modulate the force with which she speaks but that doesn't seem to have been the case thus far. Perhaps later you'll have the opportunity to discuss that with her.

For now you take your leave, slipping out the door just as Profectus finishes expelling the contents of his stomach onto the bed. The slaves assigned to laundry duty today are going to have their work cut out for them, between Darzi's sheets and now Profectus' as well.

Suppressing those thoughts as you begin to make your way down the stairs and towards the courtyard, you reach out through the mental connection you and Zahak share to contact your adoptive son. You get the impression he's near by, but probably not within the actual city of Nazir. {Zahak, you and I are going on a journey. My sister's daughter has been kidnapped and we're going to rescue her.}

His response is somewhat hollow, the emotion it no doubt carried stripped away by the intervening distance. {Really? I get to help? Will we get to see our enemies rendered ash before us and enjoy the warm glow of the flame as it destroys all that they know and love?}
(1/4)
>>
Gods above, what has Chryssa been teaching your boy? {Not quite, Zahak. Not quite. Rather we'll be arriving at the city gates with all the pomp and circumstance of the Shah himself paying a visit, and we'll march through the city on parade. We'll be pressuring the local lord to step in and deliver the girl to us, rather than simply taking her ourselves. We're bringing them to political, rather than physical ruin.}

You don't know if Zahak really understands. {Okay, Papa. I'm eating a tiny dragon with no wings and stubby legs, but once I finish I'll fly back real quick so you can get on my back and we can fly together.}

Stubby legs and no wings... a crocodile, or perhaps a sarada? Well, you suppose Zahak is able to take care of himself either way. You shouldn't worry yourself over every little thing. {I'll be waiting in the courtyard when you've finished, Zahak.}

You emerge into the hallway on the ground floor, and after only a short walk emerge into the foyer. A few local nobles lounge about the room amidst piles of cushions, several eating from plates of flat bread and hummus while two in particular seem to be enjoying the show put on by a Samjan woman dressed in little more than transparent silks, kept decent only be thin strips of cloth beneath. You ignore them for now, though do draw the attention of a slave clad in white robes to fetch you some mulled wine and something to snack on while you wait.

By the time Zahak comes skidding to a gentle, if inelegant landing in the courtyard you've finished your second cup of wine and are busy enjoying a strange dish the slave claimed originated in ancient Rhynia. It seems to be some manner of fried wheat batter, very thin, stuffed with pomegranate seeds, whipped cream flavored with rosewater, and a light drizzle of honey. You'd taken to eating it as a finger food, as the usual fork and knife simply weren't cutting it.

Son....I am proud

Finishing off the last few bites, you stand and wander across the courtyard to where Zahak is waiting for you. He dips his wing as you approach and allows you to climb onto his back, where the saddle is still strapped. You think it's a bit tighter than you recall it being a few days ago, but not drastically so. Still you might want to think about getting a new saddle made for him, one that's adjustable enough to accommodate his rapidly growing frame.

Your thoughts are interrupted by Zahak's own, excitement practically rolling off of him in waves. {So where are we going, Papa? Also, what's a parade, and who's the Shah? Oh! Also, I was wondering why we can't just burn whoever the bad people are if they did something wrong.}

You urge Zahak skyward, and with a powerful leap he propels the two of you off the ground. His wings snap out, a gust of wind sending dust spiraling through the courtyard below as he struggles to gain altitude. Once he reaches a comfortable altitude he dips his wing and starts to circle the palace, evidently waiting for your instruction.

You consider how to best reach Marqash through the air. You could probably just head due south until you reach the coast, and then turn east. That would take you through the lands of the Demirs. That might be interesting, in fact. {We're going to Marqash, Zahak. It's a big city to the south and east of where we are now. You'll want to follow this river until we reach its source and then keep going until we eventually reach the coast, then we'll just follow the coast until we see the Marble Palace. It's a big white building, you can't miss it.}

>>
Zahak is quick to follow your instructions, turning towards the river and beating his wings to take you ever higher. While your son does the hard work, your thoughts turn to his other questions. {Well, a parade is a large gathering of people, mostly of commoners, to enjoy a spectacle. Usually this spectacle is someone important visiting, which is the case with you and I, but it can be anything really. Sometimes people build big cloth balloons filled with hot air and float them through the city streets to celebrate the enslavement of Surya.}

{As for the Shah, well... the Shah is the ruler of these lands. He's descended from a long line of men and women who have ruled the realm over the last thousand years, and done a fairly good job of it all things considered. We pay homage to the Shah as his vassals, you and I both, though we do not always need to do as the Shah ask. Sometimes the Shah makes mistakes, and in these cases it's often better to act on your own initiative rather than follow along with the foolishness of your liege lord.}

You pause, enjoying the sight of the desert stretched out below you, and the city of Nazir slipping into the distance. From this high up, the palace doesn't seem nearly as immense as it actually is. {As for your last question, Zahak...}

Not sure what a Coatul is but a Phoenix would e an awesome challenge to face right now.

Especially since Both Water and Fire probably won't work on it. And since it's on fire Melee is probably out of the question, at least for us, maybe not zahak. Though Zahak may finially find something that can match him and or burn him. might push him to GM Fire.

If it is a phoenix we need to kill it then permafrost those Ashes. Would probably be Sooooooooooooooooo valuable.

You consider your answer carefully, knowing how impressionable Zahak is at this stage in his life. You want to instill him with good values, even if you don't necessarily practice what you preach. {Sometimes, Zahak, it's just not wise to burn through all your problems. I understand it can be tempting, and I'm guilty of trying it myself, but often you simply end up causing more problems for yourself in the long run. Thus, a more delicate approach can save you trouble.}

Zahak levels out, his wings spreading wide so that he can glide on the warm air radiating from the desert sands below. After a time his thoughts mingle with yours, his curiosity offset by a growing sense of understanding. {So, killing the people who took the daughter would cause more problems than it solves. Why is that, Papa?}

The answer to this question is at least obvious enough. {Well my niece, your cousin I suppose, was kidnapped by the Demirs. The Demirs are a lot like the Abdul-Hakims, they're an old family of nobility with lands which border our own. However, they're much lower ranked in court than we are, so we're able to exert more influence than they are. The Demirs resent us for this, because until recently they were always much more powerful than we were.}

{Now that we're on more equal footing it might be tempting to simply wipe them out, but that would make the people think we're cruel or aggressive, and it would make the Shah punish us for attacking one of his vassals, even though we're also his vassals. Thus, killing them would do a lot of harm to us. However, if we instead ruin their reputation we can make ourselves look better while still weakening them. Do you understand?}

You can practically feel Zahak's thoughts buzzing in your own. {I think so.} He finally decides, though he doesn't sound very certain. {It's kind of like we're still destroying them and all they care for just... different because nothing will actually be destroyed afterwards.} There's a pause, before Zahak poses another question. {So are we not destroying their stuff because we want to make their stuff, our stuff?}

Well, you can't really speak to your father's goals but that may well be the case. {Perhaps, but not necessarily. If some of their lands end up in our family's hands then that's all the better, but we'll profit just as greatly if their reputation is tarnished and people choose to do business with us instead of them.}

Zahak still doesn't seem to fully get it, but you suppose politics is kind of a lot for a child only a few months out of the egg to grasp. {Don't worry about it too much right now, Zahak. Why don't you keep your eye out for any worthy prey while we fly south along the river? I did promise to take you out hunting yesterday, after all.}

The flood of warmth and affection is all you need to know that your son approves, and you spend the next several hours with Zahak occaisionally swooping down to attack a wandering camel. At one point you even lay waste to a pack of Pidjatan Lions, taking six tails from the rotting vermin. You'll be able to collect upon those once you reach Marqash.

You pass by a number of towns on your way south, including the thriving city of Nirasa built up around the source of the river which runs through the length of your family's lands. It may be even more populous than Nazir, though the palace is not nearly so impressive in comparison.

Once you're past Nirasa it's nothing but open desert as far as the eye can see, and there's a marked drop-off in the number of diversions you and Zahak take to chase after some unfortunate creature wandering the desert sands. However, as you're about to reach into your cloak to pull out a book and do some reading, you notice something curious in the distance.

At first it's little more than a smudge on the horizon, but as you draw closer it resolves itself into the distinct shapes of an enormous stone mound. The closer you get the more details you're able to determine. It was built up in a series of three concentric walls, but it looks like some sort of dam has burst because much of the land around it has been reduced to a marshy swamp. The west side of the structure is home to what was once an expansive city, but now seems to be abandoned.

You think it might have once been a temple, most likely to Pani if the flood plains surrounding it are any indication. Actually it might have once been apart of the vast network of cisterns which once brought water to even the most distant reaches of the Hiacian empire, though that network has long since crumbled. You urge Zahak to divert slightly off course so you'll be able to fly directly over it, hopefully affording you a better look at the ruins.

It's as you're flying along the outskirts of the city that you notice something even stranger. In the northeast corner of the temple structure, an enormous figure of some sort looms upwards. At first you think it might be a palaka worm, but that can't possibly be the case. You're much too far north. As water begins to swirl around its elongated body, darts of ice shooting off towards some unseen target below, you can only assume it's some sort of golem.

You urge Zahak closer, and he's quick to obey. His wing dip towards the enormous creature and you're both sent hurtling towards the ground. It's at times like these that you wish the saddle was a little better designed, because you find yourself lifted out of your seat by the sudden descent.

A blue beam of vys cuts through the air, and you find yourself suddenly hanging upside down as Zahak rolls through the air to avoid it. It's fortunate that you were holding onto the saddlehorn, otherwise you'd have been thrown off his back due to that little maneuver. You're not sure if it was aimed at you or not, but it certainly didn't come from the worm creature. Two more bolts of vys shoot skyward, neither of these anywhere near you, but it's enough to force the golem to lunge forward at its attackers.

Its head hits the ground and sends up an enormous plume of dust, but before it can right itself you see a figure climb up onto its back. They're decked from head to toe in artifacts of all shapes and sizes, and wield a hold spear which seems quite elaborate. The spear buries itself the plates on the creature's back and apparently hit something soft, because it rears up and smashes its back into a stone pillar behind it, succeeding in dislodging its attacker.

A beam of blue light cuts into its abdomen but does little more than superficial damage, the attacker a Samjan woman with her left hand sheathed in a glowing gauntlet. Two more shots cut through the air but fail to actually penetrate the golem's tough exoskeleton, and finally she's forced to dance away from an enormous spear of ice only moments before it embeds itself in the ground where she'd been standing.

A streak of gold flashes briefly through the air and the beast screeches loud enough that your ears hurt from however many hundreds of feet away you are. One of its malevolent red eyes has been pierced by a golden arrow, the man who fired it calmly sliding another from his sheathe. It looks like he only has a few more, so you hope their entire plan doesn't consist of distracting the creature while their archer pokes it to death.

The great thing about having a paired mental connection with your adoptive draconic son is that you never need to explain your plans to him. He seems to simply pick up on what you want, and how you envision it playing out. Truly a terribly convenient thing, though you're not sure you'd want this sort of connection with all of your companions.

Zahak circles above the enormous many-legged worm, while tentacles stretch lethargically from within the folds of your cloak. Oversized gauntlets slide over your hands even as your cuirass secures itself around your chest. In no more than a minute you're garbed head to toe in the thick carapace of a beast long dead, all thanks to Ricky's careful assistance. You really need to look into getting him a reward of some sort. You shoved in one of those Pidjatan Lion corpses for him to enjoy, but he really does a lot for you.

This time around you're smart enough to numb the whole of your back as the needles slide out of your armor, each one burying itself firmly in your spine. Even with the pine dulled, the sensation of carapace scraping against bone and the muscle spasms as it joins with your spinal cord are less than comfortable. Fortunately the flood of power that follows helps you to forget your worries, drowned out as they are by the sensation that the world would be yours if you'd only reach out and grasp it. If only you could crush this overgrown insect standing in the way of your ambitions.

Your own emotions seem to fuel Zahak's, because radiating from your adoptive son is an overwhelming sense of excitement, of bloodlust, and above all a desire for your approval. As your shield adheres itself to the forearm of your left arm and your trident finds its way into your grasp, Zahak folds his wings tightly to his sides and you're sent tumbling towards the enormous creature, which has reared back and seems to be gathering vys for a spell of some sort.

the accuracy
>>
You catch it entirely by surprise. Zahak only flares out his wings to slow his decent at the very last moment and hits the creature's back claws first, its exoskeleton cracking under the immense force. Zahak's claws find purchase in soft flesh and he's able to cling tightly to the enormous worm's back as it's sent crashing into the marsh below, an enormous pillar of mud splashing up to either side of you.

Before you can even react vys is pouring off of Zahak, the mud and earth around you leaping to obey his every whim. It wraps around the worm, encasing it slowly in rock before it has a chance to recover. He roars triumphantly as the beast writhes in vain beneath him, the sound loud enough to cut through the high pitched screech of the many-legged worm.

You're off Zahak's back in moments, the prongs of your trident extended beneath you. They dig deep into the soft flesh exposed by the cracked exoskeleton, the flesh immediately beginning to rot around the point of impact. You pump it full of Vys even as you feel the stone bindings crack, and Zahak shoots a jet of white-hot flame across the back of the creature's head.

Rather than try to rip its way free, the beast slides forward. The friction of its many-sectioned exoskeleton are enough to crack the stone and knock Zahak off balance, and before can react you're soaring through the air, trident in hand. A spear of pure entropy shoots from the mouth of the worm, carving an enormous canyon through the ground before it and sending the other adventurers scattering. You see an arrow smash uselessly against its underbelly, and a blue barrier erect itself around the woman which scatters the beam every which way.
(2/3)
>>
You're snatched up by the shoulders before you hit the ground, Zahak cradling you gently in his claws and bearing you upwards. The artifact-clad adventurer at least seems to know an opportunity when he sees one. He's already got his spear buried deep into the soft flesh exposed by Zahak's landing, and golden light shines through the cracks as he channels vys into the haft of the weapon.

Zahak is turning to bring you in for another assault on the worm when it whips its head around, that beam of malevolent energy still spewing from an enormous gemstone sitting where its mouth ought to be. It carves the top of a pillar straight off, and Zahak is forced to dive to avoid the attack. He ends up dropping you as it becomes clear that he's going to have to land, and you crash into the mud with an unceremonious splash.

It's difficult to maneuver in such heavy armor but you manage to stand upright, a wave of relief washing over you upon the realization that Zahak is uninjured. The mud melts off of him, forming into spears of stone which he hurls towards the rampaging monstrosity looming over you. You watch on with mild amusement as the spear-wielding adventurer is flung from the back of the worm, his weapon still shoved deep into the worm's gaping wound. Rather than splash into the mud as you did, there's a pulse of vys from his boots and he winds up hovering a few feet off the ground.

The man, and you think it is a man, glances towards you. His eyes are little more than two black pits in an ornately decorated, but largely featureless mask. One of the golden snakes branching off the set of false-wings he seems to wear strapped to his back turns its head towards you, mouth opening to speak in a strange, hissing tongue you can't quite identify. “Siz yaxşı bir vaxt seçilmiş.”

how close are we to zahak
does mik actually love him like a son because it seems like he does
and does zahak love mik like a father and can dragons even love someone

Before I dip out to get some sleep.
Really close.
Of course he does, why wouldn't he? Tbh, he probably cares about Zahak more than he does any of his other companions
Zahak idolizes Mik to the extreme. In Zahak's eyes, Papa is invincible and he can only aspire to be as cool some day. So yeah, Zahak thinks of Mik as his real dad.

We should just take a walk down a street filled with food vendors and let him sample a bunch of shit and just pay for it as we go.

Or feed him the spirit we caught.

Or put the spirit into Fulvias old body and make a daughter to go with our dragon son.

<~Soma_QM> Mik looks pretty fucking impressive right now. I mean, yeah this nigga over here got a lot of artifacts, and they're some pretty experienced adventurers.

No, I mean less impressive. Why the fuck would anyone be more impressed by the armour if they're unaware that not everyone can wear it?

He meant exactly what he wrote though. If those guys are too ignorant to understand how hard it is to wear the siege armor, they are also unable to appreciate Mik for being able to do it.

This sounds like an excellent idea and a phenominal game for them to play, since zahak is too physically powerful to roughhouse

Imagine Mik and a full grown zahak playing Siege in the desert a centruy from now

Then two centuries from now

Then four

Like, it being the way they stay in touch when Zahak inevitably strikes out on his own

If a person doesn't know that the H.Warlock armor can only be worn by badass mages, then they they aren't aware that the person wearing the armor is by necessity a badass mage.

If a person does know that the H.Warlock armor can only be worn by badass mages, then they know for sure that the person wearing said armor is a badass mage.

Now, assuming that badass mages are more impressive than people who aren't badass mages, do you think Mik looks more or less impressive right now to someone who knows what Heavy Warlock armor is or to someone who doesn't know what it is?
>>
>>45490713
I think it's irrelevant, because it's still badass armor.
