Stand stats: http://pastebin.com/rYUsbyni}

You spent two more days resting up after dealing with the Neos that had been attacking Rai's house. Not a word from the bastards, not a single one of them even daring to show their heads on the street.

God damn right.

Mom still thinks you're out at some camp in the middle of nowhere, helping kids learn how to crochet or whatever they do out there, leaving you free to get your things together, to figure out who's after you, after all these stand users.

You still haven't called that number for this... Speedwagon Foundation yet. Those suits seemed to know a lot about this, with out ever actually saying anything helpful, promising to look into both you and Angie...

That might not be good.

Still, between you, Angie, Rai and Abby, who's finally feeling up to helping after ditching her roommate's corpse, you've been collecting rumours; strange noises heard at a nearby graveyard in the middle of the night, trees seemingly blown over by gale force winds in parks, a secret dojo where the fighters punch with lightning, kids suddenly aging into full grown adults, and adults turning to dust in their beds...

Odds are any one of these is an urban legend, playground legends meant to scare little kids... still, there's a chance these are legit stand users.

You have to start somewhere, don't you? You look around the cramped room you're sharing with Angie, the posters on the walls giving you little guidance.

This secret dojo thing... a whole group of people with the same freaky power? That might just be something worth looking into.

Angie says she heard about it uptown, from some bum, who'd passed it on from some other bum, who'd passed it on from some other bum on the streets,

Not the most promising lead you've got.... but still, it's better than nothing. Together, you, Rai and Angie suit up, catching a ride back to the overpass Angie first heard it.

The first setback comes when it seems that now nobody seems to have ever even heard of the place. The guy that told Angie is drunk off his ass, probably high too by the track marks on his arms, staring blankly as Angie tries to plead with him, failing to coerce the information from him.

His bloodshot eyes blink absently, staring right through the blonde, until a noise you hope is a car backfiring startles some focus into him. "Wassat?" He slurs, reaching for another bottle of hooch.

"Theo, come on!" Angie pleads, "You're my only lead here! We really need to know where you heard about that dojo."

He gets a slimy look on his face, swilling from his brown bag for a good long moment, Rai starting to stand closer to you as a few people look at him funny. From the look of some of these guys, they may well be former Neos before they landed on the streets.

You rub his head as he backs into your stomach a moment. "We'll be out soon." You assure him.

"Well, Annnnngela." Theo snickers, "I can tell ya, but it'll cost ya." He leans back against a wall, pointing at his stained jeans. "Pretty blonde thing like you..." He trails off, giggling to himself.

You nudge Angie aside, grabbing him up by his collar. No one talks to her like that, "Alright, we tried good cop." You lift him bodily, his feet flailing as he leaves the ground. "Now, you're gonna tell me where to look, or I'll break your knee caps. How's that sound?"

He's starting to bug out, kicking and flailing at you, his doughy legs unable to get any power behind them, his blows bouncing off you with little smacks.

"One..." You growl. "Two...." You grab one of his knees in your hand, getting ready to give it a sharp twist. "Th-"

"Stop! Stop, stop!" He yelps, "I-i-it was Louie! Down by Anonio and 6th."

You drop him, hard, letting him fall flat on his back, his bottle breaking as he rolls onto his side, groaning in pain. "Damn Xiao." Rai mutters, as you jerk a thumb to leave.

"Dude probably would have told us for five bucks." Angie sighs. "That's gonna hurt us if I need to ask anything else around here."

You shrug it off, "I got results, come on."

Louie on Antonio, in turn sends you on to Frank on Serra, then finally Hernando on Kortze Lane. "Ohhhh. You're looking for those freaks who have those shiny punches, eh?" He asks, sweeping his filthy ponytail over his shoulder... You're starting to doubt this guy's legitimacy, but he waves you on to follow him.

Down a few alleyways, he leads you, before at last coming to a seemingly three story abandoned office building.... with no entrances on the ground floor, or stair cases up.

"Only way in or out." Hernandez laughs, "Is that door up there."
>>
He points straight up, a single door embedded in a stretch of blank wall on the second floor. "Huh." Angie comments.

"Freaky bastards come along in the middle of the night, then there hands start glowing and they climb up the wall like Spiderman or something..." He laughs, exposing addict's teeth, yellow and rotting.

You hand this guy a few dollars for the help, sending him on his way.

"Well, now what?" Angie mutters. "Spider people who punch with electricity or whatever? Seem like a good idea to just... head on in?"

You glance around for somewhere to stake the place out... "We'll wait around here for a while, see what happens before we go barging in. Last time we did that, Angie almost got killed."

"I mean... I got out of it, didn't I?" She shrugs it off, rather playfully considering she almost froze to death.

The three of you hunker down at a nearby donut place, trying not to look like you're watching the alley like a hawk.

Hours roll by, with very little happening. No one comes, or goes, the building stays silent and that door is shut the entire time.

"Seems you're info might be bogus blanca." Rai points out, only for her to punch him in the shoulder, leaving him with a dead arm.

"Shut up! Just cos you don't have an attention span, doesn't mean this is a bust just yet." She hisses back.

"Guys..." You groan, "Can we ease off on the fighting please?"

They lapse back into moody silence for a moment, before Rai moves around the table to the seat next to you. "Hey, Xiao... we'll still hang out, once all this is over, right?" He asks, "Her I don't care so much about." He adds, waving a hand dismissively in the blonde girls direction.

You take a moment to finish your coffee, before the boy's phone starts blaring loudly, Rai stepping away to answer it.

"Kid's crushing on you hard." Your blonde companion muses, putting on a falsetto and fluttering her eyelashes, "Gee Xiao, you're so pretty! You saved everyone, and you're myyyy hero."

You raise your eyebrows silently, setting your mug down, just as Rai steps back to the table. "I'm... I've gotta go." He sighs apologetically. "Two of my cousins are in the hospital from a fight, and Sofia and I are helping to foot the bill."

You glance back at the office building... still nothing.

"We'll keep up the stakeout." You tell him, giving him a soft pat on the back, "Hope your cousins are alright, we'll see you around, okay?"

He nods, wiping the corner of his eyes a little as he heads off.

You watch him round the corner, before Angie startles, tapping your hand silently. "Psst, over there."

In the near dusk, you can see a few people dressed in black slip into that alley, glancing around furtively, before leaping at the wall, hands glowing with a soft yellow light as they quickly scale their way up the wall and through the door.

"Well, I'll be." Angie sighs. "Soon as the kid disappears, they finally show their faces."

You're already out from behind the table, heading across the street, you tug your hoodie up, Angie falling in with you as you hurry towards them.

You lose sight of them briefly, hidden in their alleyway for a brief moment, and by the time you round the corner into it, the door above has been shut tight again, not a trace that anyone was there, other than a faint smell of freshly blooming flowers in the air and a few fingerprints in the grime on the wall.

"So?" Angie sighs, pulling a hair band out and tying hers back into a ponytail like yours. "Strategy?" She gestures at the wall, "This has gotta be some weird group stand, right?"

"Let's sneak up there, find out what they're up to before we introduce ourselves, eh?" You ask, ripping open a pack of seeds.

You pull one out, your stands green arm shimmering into view as you toss the seed to the ground.

Moments later, it curls upwards in a huge vine, using the last of the day's light, curling up towards the door.

The two of you quickly scale up it, finding the door unlocked, you ease it open, coming into a small lobby looking room, an abandoned foremans office, as you shut the door behind you, throwing you into pitch black.

On through the only other door, you squat low, coming out onto a steel railing, finding the rest of the entire building hollowed out, the railing leading left and right around the walls, with a wide arena built on the ground floor, and beyond that, a large totem, standing nearly thirty feet tall, near to the roof and a decently sized pool.

There's a collection of about forty men and women in street clothes standing in the centre of the arena, engaged in some sort of martial arts sparring, throwing punches and kicks in smooth flowing motions... except each blow is enhanced by a golden glow of crackling energy as they strike home, sending their opponents reeling.

Watching over them is a woman who can only be the boss around here, standing nearly as tall as yourself, an ocean blue gi draped over her as she barks instructions, carrying herself with the confidence of a master as she walks, despite her apparent youth.

"I... don't think this is a stand." Angie whispers too you. "This is... some other weird shit."

You creep along the walkway, positioning yourself closer to that pool, just in case, as the dim lighting hides your approach.

Still, if it's just a martial arts dojo...

"Alright. Let's see what these guys are about then." You nod, standing upright, you make your way onto the arena, noting the quiet splash as you step up, the subtle slipperiness of the floor beneath you.

It's not quite water, but they've covered the arena floor in some slightly greasy, clear substance, just enough to give you a little trouble with each step.

Despite it, everyone else's footing is fine, jumping, kicking, running...

Alright, power through it. Angie hops up alongside you, nearly falling flat on her face, before you both use your stands to stabalise yourselves, effectively having four legs as you trundle your way across the arena towards the chocolate skinned woman in charge, currently busy sweeping away blows from three foes at once with practised ease.

"And who are you that walked in here without me knowing?" She asks, managing to catch a kick on her forearm, the momentum of the blow sending her slipping backwards and coming to a graceful stop beside you. "You two are no students of mine."

Just in case, you fade 『Kiss From a Rose』 from sight, staring the woman down. "Xiao Xiong." You tell her. "This is Angie."

She smirks, tilting her head back and staring down her nose at you. "And how'd you manage to get through that door? It's rather high up for a little bit of urban exploration, no?"

"We're good at getting places we're not meant to." Angie chips in, clearing her throat. "And who the hell are you? What is this place?"

The woman laughs, "Watch your tongue dear." She warns, her feet shooting a spark of gold into the oil around her feet, the light rushing at Angie's feet and seconds later she's blasted up into the air with a shriek.

You catch her on the way back down, letting the blonde rest in your arms a moment, tensing up for a fight.

"Oh relax." The master chuckles, "I'm Sooty. Sooty Brown. Now whatta ya want?"

"Hey, uh, weird question. You're not a stand user, are you?" You ask.

Sooty snorts, "Stands? Those flashy gimmicks? Hell no." She raises a fist, inhaling slowly as a golden aura shimmers brightly around her, lighting up the dojo a little more. "Here, we teach the Ripple! I studied under my uncle, the great Joseph Joestar back when I was young."

The hell's a Ripple? "The hell's a Ripple?" Angie asks.

She lets her glow fade, gesturing at her feet, small rippling circles spreading out from her feet in the oil. "A sacred technique, passed down through the generations, through it, we channel the power of the sun." She jabs a finger at Angie's ankle suddenly.

The blonde hisses, jumping in your grip as you uncertainly set her down. "The hell was that for?"

Sooty belly laughs, as the students start making more space for your conversation, "I just cured a touch of arthritis that was creeping into your ankle girl. You've been walking flatfooted, you'll want to see someone about that."

Angie rubs at her foot self consciously, while you press the questions, "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know the name Biittles would you? Dumb name, I know, but still..."

She strokes her chin for a minute, thinking. "Nope, can't say that rings a bell." She shakes her head. "Sorry? Should I know the name?"

"Some sicko that's creeping around the city killing stand users." Angie grimaces, "Who knows if he's after you guys too."

Sooty processes that calmly. "Huh. That sucks." She seems distracted, snapping her fingers at you. "Sorry, that was serious and all, but do I know you?"

You shake your head, "I'd remember meeting a woman like you Sooty."

She shrugs, still staring at your face. "Well, that it?" She finally sighs.

You peer at her closer, "How... old are you exactly?" She doesn't look a day over twenty five.

She shrugs, "Coming up on..." She hums in consideration for a moment, "Nearly... fifty? I wanna say fifty."

"Fifty?" Angie asks her, jaw dropping.

Sooty smiles good-naturedly, "Clean living and deep breathing. Those are your secrets girl."

Jesus... "Right, and how do you know what stands are in the first place?"

She winks playfully, "You see a lot of weird stuff hanging around the Joestars kiddo, even my master himself manifested one in a freak accident, and the Speedwagon Foundation for that matter, they show you some weird shit too." There's that name again.

Angie nudges you none too subtly in the ribs over that, mouthing 'Those guys?' at you.

You nod back, "Huh. Well.... would there be anyway we could learn this Ripple stuff? It sounds pretty damn useful in a fight."

Sooty shakes her head, even with the smile on her face. "You don't learn the Ripple to fight girl. The sparring is just the practice. You learn it to help heal, to protect from those who would do harm."

"What if we promise to do that?" Angie brings up, testing her foot out after the alleged cure. "Then could we do sign up? I'd love to look that good when I'm fifty."

Sooty tosses her hair, winking at the blonde, "Ya think I'm gorgeous, do ya?"

Angie's cheeks flush and she takes a step back, once again slipping, her skull races towards the floor until she catches you, hanging off your wrist. "I- I didn't mean it like that!" Angie stammers.

Sooty just laughs rubbing her hands. "Alright, alright. If you two can devote four hours a night, until I say you can stop coming, we'll see what we can do."

You wish 『Kiss From a Rose』 back out, letting her float around your back. "My stand can already channel sunlight, could that help me?"

Sooty raises her eyebrows, "Well, let's see what you got?"

You ask for her to hold her hand out, suffused with Ripple, before you have 『Kiss From a Rose』 grab it.

She giggles at the touch, flexing her fingers and shifting to hold hands with your stand. "Kinda tickles."

You place a seed in the projections other hand and ask everyone else to stand back, seeing what you can do.

With a growl, you suck energy inwards, from Sooty, channelling it up one arm and down the other like a lightning rod, the seed bursting upwards and overgrowing in seconds, vines spreading in every direction without your control, without thought, seeking to endlessly expand.

You gasp, pulling your stand free of the woman as the vines start crawling up your legs, cutting the flow of energy off, the vines easing to a halt.

Sooty just seems amused by the whole ordeal, kicking herself free of the vines as they collapse under their own weight. "Not bad, but you'll need to learn how to properly control it." She nods. "Some kinda weird photosynthesis thing. I like it."

Your heart's thumping a mile a minute after that, newfound energy pumping through you, a brief moment of golden sparkles dancing over your palm before fizzling out. "Mayyybe we should save that for emergencies." Angie whispers to you.

You nod in agreement, and Sooty waves you both forwards as her students clean the arena floor off, thankfully wiping away the oil as they do so.

"Alright girls, hold still. This'll hurt for a few seconds." Sooty warns, before driving a finger up, under each of your ribs.

You hit your knees, groaning in pain... but you can already feel something different, your lungs are sucking in more air, your breath more steady and even...
>>
"Now!" Sooty announces, "You two get out of my hair for a while. Got a class to teach. Your homework is to practice deep breathing while exercising. By the end of next week I want you running a mile without a complaint. Got it?"

You both nod, escorted back out to the street, you spot a mattress in the alley, placed to jump on from the door, you leap down to the street below with a thump.

"That old lady was weird." Angie groans, rolling her shoulders out.

"Little bit. Kinda cool though." You have to admit.

"Well Xiao, what're we doing now then?" She asks.

With night well and truly fallen, there's not a lot of your plans you can check on..

"Let's call that Speedwagon number." You decide, patting your pockets for the card, only for Angie to pluck it out from under her beanie.

"You were gonna leave it at the house." She shrugs, "Figure'd I'd bring it along."

You hit up a phone booth for the first time since... ever, just in case they try to trace you or something.

"N'yello?" A frienly voice greets you on the other end. "You've reached Quincy Jones' desk." The same suit from the mall then.

"This is Xiao Xiong." You tell him. "We met the other day, I... you said to call you when I was ready to discuss things. Well... let's talk."

You can hear him slurping something on the other end, noodles by the wet quality of the noise. "Sure, just gimme a minute to grab yer file." You hear something heavy being slammed. "Let's see... I found info on one Lou Crakehall, as asked by one Angela Crakehall, heavily edited for classified reasons... And- oh yeah." He laughs a little. "It's nothing, don't worry."

"What?" You demand.

"Ah nothing, it'd probably be better if I told you in person for that part... it's not something that you should tell someone over the phone." He sighs. "Say, tell me, you had any other kooky stand adventures in the mean time, or are you keeping your head down?"

"Well that depends, what are you planning to do when you meet her?" You ask him, Angie heading off to get burgers while you talk.

He seems confused? "Huh? Nothing, we just lost contact with her a few years back. With Mr Joestar... indisposed, Miss Brown is our leading expert on Hamon."

"What's Hamon?" You ask.

"Oh you know, that thing she does.... Sendo?"

"You mean the Ripple?" You ask.

"Whatever, even they can never come up with a god damn proper name for it." He sighs. "Point is, she went blank on us, and we'd like to re-establish contact with her." You can hear him open a drawer for a moment, "She was actually one of our top agents for a few decades, right up until she vanished one day."

"So... you promise you're not out to assassinate her or anything?" You push one last time.

"What?" He snorts, "No, Xiao, come on. We might be the creepers who wear black suits in the middle of summer and haul guys off in vans, but we're not murderers..." There's a brief pause. "Okay, so we sound like murderers, but we're not. I promise."

"If you say so." You sigh. "Pull anything, and I'll have something to say about it."

He makes a clicking noise with his tongue, "Thanks, you're a doll. And, hey, for your co-operation, here's a tidbit for ya." He rustles through some papers, before... "Did you know you're a quarter english? Descended from nobility no less. Just a century ago, you'd have been born with a silver spoon in your mouth."

"Seriously?" You demand, "Alright, I'll bite. Who were they?"

He chuckles, "I could say, or I could let you find out when you meet them. And I gotta keep some bargaining chips, right? Chow, Xiao." With that, he hangs up.

He certainly thinks he's funny.

Angie returns as you step out, tossing a chicken sandwich your way, while you explain your call.

"Might wanna go check their not doing anything shady before we leave." She agrees, marching back the way you came as you force down your meal.

"So... Xiao, the noblegirl, huh?" She smirks, "Imagine you being dragged to a fancy ball. No offence, but I don't see you wearing a gown and hanging off some lordling's arm like a little princess."

You don't think you've worn a dress a single time since you were four years old.

>"I'd wear a suit, you could have the dress" *wink*
>"Meh, they didn't raise me, they're barely family"
>It'd be nice to meet them at least

Fucker is nobility with millionaire friends and he isn't paying for his bastard kid to not live in the slums? What an asshole?

You shoot her a wink, "I'd wear a suit, more my style." You pat her between the shoulders, "You can take the frilly dress, how about that?"

She stares up at you a moment, a subtle gulp coming off her. "You never know, I might like a suit too." She finally smirks, leaning against your arm and looping one of hers through yours, "I'd cut a mean lady suit or something."

You share a little laugh over that, before you toss your hood back, "My dad though.. I see that bastard, I'm punching him in the face. Fucker's nobility and he left my mom when she was pregnant to claw her way out of the slums?" You crack your knuckles, "And now it turns out he's some little lord, with millionaire friends?" You spit in the street, "I'm breaking his nose. Minimum."

Angie makes a 'hmmm' of consideration, as a dark van with a giant "SWF" rolls up by the side of the street, giving you a ride.

You point them in the right direction, the two of you waiting patiently outside the building as they hook a ladder up to the door, climbing up, assuring you that they're unarmed.

A few minutes later, Sooty leaps out the door down to the mattress, ignoring the ladder and giving you a friendly wave. "Hey Xiao!" She calls. "Giving away the location of the secret dojo? That's four extra hours a night! See you back here tomorrow! Understood?"

"Ah.... shit." Angie groans, still draped over one of your arms. "Better go home and get some sleep then."

You give her a little shove, "You go on ahead. I wanna talk to these guys about a few things."

She opens her mouth, looking back in the direction of Rai's place, before shaking her head, "I'll just wait over here, til you're done then."

You shrug, "Have fun then, not sure how long this'll take."

She waves you on, as you step across the street, looking for the one you saw a few days ago... "Hey, you seen Quincy?" You ask one at random.

The woman points you right too Sooty, Quincy hanging back a few steps in the circle of people staring at her admiringly.

You prod him in the back, watching him stumble as he turns around. "Oh! Xiao! You're a treasure!" He grins, looking like he's going to pat you on the shoulder, before realising he can't reach.

You really try to focus on what he's saying... but man, that pompadour of his is wobbling all over the place.

Focus Xiao!

You blink yourself back to him, "Yeah, no worries, I guess." You shrug. "It's still cool if I train under her, right?"

He nods along, "Of COURSE! In fact-" He glances nervously at the dark skinned woman, "We're trying to convince her to help us- and you- to get to the bottom of all this."

Right. "Before all that, I want some answers." You tell him, with another prod to his chest.

He laughs nervously, dabbing at his forehead, "Uh, sure?"

"First of all, how much do you know about my dad?"

He nods, "Right, shoulda seen that coming." He pulls an old photograph from his pocket, "You're the bastard of one Jotaro Kujo, the son of a jazz musician, and the heirress to the Joestar Bloodline..." He rubs his neck awkwardly, "Aaaaaand you have a sister. Well- half sister, a year older than you. Aaaand a great uncle who's about thirty, and.... a-" He count on his fingers, "Great, great, great grand uncle who's a few years older than you." He shrugs, "It's complicated."

"They're a bunch of whores, huh?" You ask.

He laughs, "You're words, I don't bite the hand that feeds me." He gestures at the woman, "Technically, she's your great aunt, by adoption. Or is it... second cousin? I dunno how this works."

Huh. "That's a lot of people." You breathe. "And they're all rich?"

He snorts. "Pffft, I mean, your dad does... okay, but a lot of that goes into child support for your sister- troubled girl- as for the others, you're great grandfathers company earns a pretty penny, and your great-whatever- uncle in Italy is a mob boss... but you know, a cool one, so he's done okay, financially."

"That's a... colourful bunch." You sigh.

"And they all share one thing." He taps his neck, "The Joestar birthmark, a little star at the base of your neck or shoulder?"

You brush it absently, "So that's where it's from."

He nods, clapping his hands, "Yup. So, I'll try and get hold of your father, I'm sure you're burning with questions! If you'll excuse me..." He tries to sidle around you.

You grab him before he slips past. "Hold up, magic questions first."

He sighs, "I'm a busy man Xiao, you've got time for two."

Hmm, alright first two that come to mind. "What IS a stand?"

He shrugs that one off, "You've got a superpower to grow plants, others have varying powers, the stand itself is just the psychic representation of your power." He smirks, "I believe the name is rather unoriginal, in that it 'stands' at your side."

Well, that's original. "Alright then, now... Who the hell is Biittles, and more important, what the hell is he?"

He raises his hands heavenwards, "Your guess is as good as mine honey. Well, no, mine is probably a lot more informed than yours." He shrugs, "Either some psycho with a stand that wants to be the only one left, some asshole with a lot of time to waste or.... something else. A vampire maybe."

"Vampires? Really?" You scoff.

He points at you, "Honey, you've got a psychic ghost that let you stab a hang member with a cactus. Ya don't get to call anything ridiculous any more." He gives a lazy salute, rounding on his heel, "If you'll excuse me, we gotta clear out, before we attract any attention."

You hadn't noticed, but the marked vans, filled with suits is starting to attract attention, pedestrians peering into the alley. The suits pile back into their vans and floor it, driving off.

You wait awkwardly as the onlookers slowly drift off, before you feel a tap on the shoulder, turning into the brown woman wrapping you tight in a hug for a moment.

"Lemme guess? You're about to say... this is all insane?" Man, you were about to say that. How did she-

Sooty shoots you a bemused look. "Welcome to the family kid." She smirks, "It only gets more bizarre from here on out."

concept wise, but with a lot more joseph attitude drilled into her

I think she's fun, but would prefer a more big sister-y type of relationship, even if it's barrrrely incest
