Hi /tg/, I am reading through a pdf of maid rpg and I am confused as shit. At first glance it kinda looked good, now I´m just disturbed. Could someone try to explain that crazy stuff to me?
>>
>>45537638
You just have a blast playing it. You go full out. It's much more rules-loose than other games. It's about going full insane.
>>
>>45537638
How the fuck does a maid RPG work?
Roll 1d20 to clean the book shelf?
Roll 1d100 to politely decline masters request for oral sex?
>>
>>45537638
>now I'm just disturbed

Anon what did you expect? The game is a comedy anime with ecchi simulator.

So I can just go and do something stupid, like blowing up the family manor, while trying to get the Masters attention?

...

Going to give it a try. The premise starts to sound hilarious at least.
>>
>>45537797
It's a role playing game, so yes, you can do anything you want buddy.
>>
>>45537677
>>45537638
It's quite simple really, you roll on your stats (athletics, affection, cunning, skill, luck and will) whenever you try to do something, doing things well gains you affection with the master. Affection can be spent like xp to improve stats, it can also be used to roll on random event tables.

Failing at something can result in stress, since no one ever dies in gag manga this functions as HP, when you reach your stress limit your character can only perform actions in line with their stress explosion (something they do to relax) for a certain amount of time.

>>
>>45537833
I would do anything I want, if my family or friends would want to play. I´m to autistic to look for a group and still working up the nerve to play on roll20.

Anyway, does anybody have a few stories ´bout their game sessions?
>>
I wish I knew people who played Maid.

Any instance of creepy perverted shit is purely the players' fault.

>they trace the spirit back to a painting of a maid in the gallery
>one payer offers to try and exorcise it
>they then pulled out their handgun and shot it
>the portrait starts burning
>and burning, and burning
>the flames turn blue
>they chuck it out the window and watch it burn
>they thought it was over when the flames died out
>a wave of magic flows over the house as the ghost flees the portrait, followed by more singing
>they follow the ghost's voice up to the maid's bedroom to find the ghost resting in the succubus maid's bed
>the succubus' player asks if they can try to seduce the ghost
>they roll low on Affection, but the ghost rolls even lower on Will to resist
>it becomes some awkward chatting up with the succubus looking back at her co-workers for guidance
>they all go and leave her there to do her dirty business
And after that I learned to stat bosses to account for their goddamn high affection

>game at a German anime/manga con
>roll for setting and master
>setting is a spaceship
>master is a time-travelling infant communicating via speech synthesizer
>GM puts on a vocal impression of Stephen Hawking wherever speaking as the master
>I roll a maid with high athletics and become Security Officer

>meal time
>ship's cook prepares a few cans of octopus sausages
>she has the lowest Skill of the entire crew AND fumbles the roll
>octopi are so undercooked that one of them goes full chestburster on a crewmate
>octopus flees scene
>I, as Security Officer, give chase
>finally corner it
>roll all sixes on my Athletics roll to beat it up
>octopus squeals shivering in a corner as my shadow looms over it
>cut to me returning to the galley, covered in octopus sausage giblets

At some point, one of the maids got thrown out an airlock due to her Stress Explosion, but I can't recall any further details.

That´s um... Had to look the basketball player up. Sounds like the setting doesn´t matter as long as it has a maid in it.

Succubi, Ghosts and Octopus? Is there a monster manual or did your gm´s thought about them himself?

Besides the succubus, who is a playable race from what I´ve read.

>>
>>45538304
I was the GM for the ghost one. You can do pretty much you want to do as long as it involves maids. A good bit of the Maid PDF is optional.
In maid sessions hosted by others we've fought zombies, androids and plant beasts, all a monster really needs are stats to roll with.
>>
>>45538528
not much to say unfortunately, we found a wolf in the basement (no idea how it got there), one of the maids had summoning magic and decided to fight the wolf by summoning Shaq. He didn't really get anywhere so the android maid glared the wolf into submission instead, afterwards one of the maids challanged him to a basketball game leading to the third item on my list.

Has anyone got that story about the shitty rapey GM and the moped? That'd my favorite MAID story, even if its truth is questionable.

I'll try. It's hard to know where to start, but I'll see what I can do.

The essential thing is, the mansion is an oil rig in the middle of the Med. I rolled up a trap maid with special qualities "actually a guy" and "Secret society" and someone else used the RNG to generate a blonde maid who used revolvers as weapons and had the quickdraw special attack. So right off the bat we had Revolver Ocelot and Solid Snake. This should give you an idea of how things tend to go in this goddamn game.

The other characters include: a chuuni maid who carries a huge fucking sword, a sweet, disarming mediobot who has athletics 0, affection [too much] and a wireless network link to several AK-630 turrets just in case you start to trust her. The cast is rounded out by a cool cucumber ara ara tier necromancer chick and, of course, the catte.

Oh, the catte.

The fucking CATTE.

The Catte, as we have come to call the blonde catgirl, is a troll extraordinaire and, of course, she has "stalker" as her special ability, which makes her hell on fucking wheels if she gets into the god damned vents. Catte is like... like nuke rounds meet alium rounds. I'd say ling rounds as well, but she hasn't resorted to clorophorm yet. I pray she never does. If you weaponized ill intent and le ebin maymays, you'd get the Catte. The chuuni swordgirl spent a lot of time in the early game hating her fucking guts. It was unreal.

Into the midst of all this you have the Master, a young guy who just wants to wake up in his own bed and maybe eat some goddamn toast with jelly for breakfast.

This would be significantly easier to do if he could stop getting kidnapped for like five fucking seconds.

He arrived on the rig via helicopter. Well, he was kind of kidnapped and dumped into our laps, more like. Then he was... well, kidnapped out of his bed, again. I don't quite recall how the second one started, but I do recall it ended with us lighting up the chopper the robodroid assasins were trying to exfil him with with the door gun of a Seahawk and a few sniper rifles, while my trapmaid hovered adroitly with the very limited lessons he got over ten years ago. There is nothing fucking funny about a "crash course" in chopper piloting, I can tell you this much.

We should have, by rights, had a reprieve after all that shit.

Instead, we got crabs.

That stole panties.

Then ara~ara turned them into zombie crabs.

This is not a joke

This happened.
>>
Now. Imagine, if you will, a lean, wiry guy who can just barely avoid looking like he stepped off a shōujo manga cover if he cultivates mad stubble and goes around scowling all the time. A guy who punched his way through middle school because of this. A guy who once knocked out his highschool's quarterback on the night of the big game because he started to say "bishop" and he didn't wait for the "op" part to come out. And then he went and joined the fucking military, because k-12 education wasn't enough of that.

Then they put him in a fucking maid dress and sent him "undercover." In a game with more mechanics based around titillating clothing damage than I can count. I barely made it through the *first session* without blowing my cover, and to do THAT I had to ride a fucking metal barrel three stories down while screaming AH NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. That was my character's life.

And then one day he wakes up and, to absolutely nobody's fucking surprise, he had turned into a chick for actual reals.

And THIS. THIS is the morning that Solid Snakeko discovers the base is overrun with zombie mother-fucking CRABS.

If you want to know what MaidRPG is like, it's a game where this picture, right here, is a thing that can happen with no real planning or foresight required. This is what fucking happens in maidrpg. One minute the GM rolls 2d6 and sees that panty thieves are hitting the mansion. The next minute, we're up to our ass in ZOMBIE COCOANUT CRABS and one of the maids is being wrestled to the floor before she can prime a lump of C4 the size of a softball to cleanse the base of the horror.

That night ended in booze. It ended in lots of booze. Then the master boozed up and managed to take a wrong step and cracked her fucking knee apart, so the next session started with a medivac to a hospital on the Libyan coastline.

>No way. You're the better story teller of the two of us.

Oh, jesus.

Right.

Well.

Our GM is an impulsive kind of guy sometimes, and that was around the time some do-gooder clowns in Syria or something got their hospital bombed by accident or whatnot. So to make a long story much shorter, we soon find ourselves hauling ass out of dodge in a stolen BTR. Catte is the wheelman, my trapmedio-turned-into-geniuine-medio is shouldering out the top hatch with a rifle (a KHYBUR PASS special, complete with charming local branding,) Revolver Ocemaid is on the turret and ara~ara and chuunichan are cradling the master, who is now the mistress (got genderflipped at the same time Solid's Snake slithered out of town) and she's doped up as all fucking hell. As we scream down the road to escape, we almost hit a small arabian girl covered in a shitload of someone else's blood. Naturally, I pop out to collect her. We stop for gas at a station operated by angry Russians, whom Revolver Ocelot declines to negotiate with on grounds of them being from the wrong PART of Russia, and Catte manages to pay for gas and then steal a hundred bucks worth of snack cakes because she's very conscious about the requirements of road trips in stolen BTRs.

Meanwhile, we gain a new player - a Butler. Suave, calm and collected, he receives Snake's less than calm request for extraction and fires up the oil rig's Chinook.

You're tellin me. It's the best tabletop game I have ever played, online or in person - largely owing to the players. As you will soon understand quite intimately.

Now. Now I do not recall, off the top of my head, what required us to take hard evasive action... wait. I do. Hinds. Yes. Mi-24 Hinds. At least ONE was involved. At LEAST. Halley was weaving like he'd learned to drive in Iraq, we're engaging the Hind with the 14.5mm, I think I was trying to squirm out of the hatch with an RPG or something... it was a mess. Our original plan was to just drive the BTR to the beach and putter out to the rig; not only are BTRs amphibious, but they actually have the range for it. I can't recall if the Hinds on our ass were just Concerned Locals taking understandable interest in foreign APCs charging through their downtown area or if the people bombing the hospital still wanted us dead or both. Probably both. Catte goes to steer us over a shipping canal, only to find our path blocked by a raised drawbridge, a huge container ship puttering by beneath it.

And that is when she did it.

That's when that fucking crazy blonde bitch ramped the BTR off the drawbridge.

Words cannot fully convey the IC and OOC chat at that point in time. Holy Shit. The funniest part was Catte's player, who had attempted the maneuver in innocent earnest - she just wanted to ramp a soviet BTR-80 off a drawbridge and stick an eight-point landing on a container ship's deck, presumably so we could make our riveting escape from the circling attack choppers at a blistering ten knots, assuming we weren't all turned to jelly by the impact, assuming the BTR didn't just smash through the ship's deck like the gigantic armored brick it is. After a few days worth of Catte's shenanigans, such as: sneaking into the master's room, kidnapping the master and taking him to her secret hidey-hole to "play video games and chill," (which he actually did, to her great disappointment,) and crawling through the ductwork to take naughty pictures of half the maids, nobody was inclined to believe his plaintive cries of innocent ignorance. The Catte was weighed, the Catte was judged, and the Catte was found wanting.

As our BTR sailed through the air in excruciating slow-motion, awaiting the heavy hand of Fate to descend upon it, the butler swooped in with the Chinook and an utterly insane Skill roll to snag us with the sling-load hook in midair; which is exactly the kind of nigh-mythical and impossibly smooth save-the-day horseshit butlers are supposed to do.

So we're in mid-air over the Med, in a BTR-80, dangling underneath a Chinook helicopter that's fucking sling-loading it. This is when the Mistress decides to wake up. Naturally, having woken up in choppers three times before in the middle of a kidnapping, s/he was not fucking thrilled. Her eyes opened, she took in the WHOPWHOPWHOP sound of rotor blades, and her face filled with horror.

And that's when I lean in and say "*Technically,* it's not a chopper this time!"

She was not substantially impressed by this encouraging note of progress.

This is when chuunimaid decided to express what we were all thinking. She had suffered the brunt of Catte's shenanigans, and the DARING APC ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE was the last fucking straw. She seized her by the nape, hauled her to the back doors, threw them open, and dangled her over the Med far below. Then she laid into her. She shook her and glowered at her and told her just how god damned much she hated her and everything she did. She let her know that she deserved every bad thing coming to her for being such an evil, wicked, vile CATTE.

Catte nodded. Cat smirked. Catte dissembled. Catte made the annoying smug Catte face. Catte played along and meekly acknowledged that she had listened carefully to her scolding.

Chuunimaid nodded, stern and serious.

And then she dropped Catte like the global oil market.

In full view of the Master. Who was, in fact, second cousin to the Catte.

It is not often you meet a player who wouldn't know what a metagame thought is if it punched them in the nose. If chuunimaid's player had reflected for even a heartbeat on the consequences of dropping the goddamn girl out of the goddamn BTR while they were in mid-goddamn-air, I sure as hell couldn't tell. Chuunimaid was ice fucking cold. Chuunimaid was MAD AS HELL. And Chuunimaid wasn't gonna fucking take it anymore for even a second.

Chuunimaid fucking followed THROUGH.

The dead fucking silence in the chat after she did that was incredible. It was a work of fucking art the likes of which I have rarely seen in a game, anywhere.

The Catte Came Back, of course (as she put it, "That's why you shoot a Catte before throwing her out of a helicopter.") But still. Holy shit.

The next session we encountered Aliens, like, the kind you kill with pulse rifles. That was fun.

What wasn't fun was entry of the romance rules.

This game has honestly been so much fun.
The entire party, when we all first came together, everyone had PC's with edgy backstories that caused them to end up at Meidobase (except for roomba).
To recap we have:
>A Chuuni swordgirl who was an ex-hitman and has a criminal organization after her
>A ara ara~ necromancer/assassin with a long list of dead bodies
>A creepy doujin artist who's a christmas cake with a dark past of abuse
>A trap who pretends to be a maid with a nice addition of PTSD
>loli Revolver Ocelot
>The butler, who was once a mercenary
>A roomba

And the butler has the least edgiest backstory of them all.

Then we have the Catte, who is the Mistress's distant cousin, grew up as a normal girl without guns, swords, or magic, went to college and majored in business and accounting, and harbored a not-so secret crush on the Mistress for a decade.

And then That Fucking Catte does what she does best: derail everything.
She derailed everyone's plans to be an edgelord and dragged them all into her maniacal fun and sunshine world of insanity, bad decisions, dancing skeletons, and amazingly convoluted plans.
Meanwhile, her player has been setting her up week after week to become a walking ball of tragedy as all her scheming and manipulating finally catch up to her;

So That Fucking Catte has derailed the entire darkness circlejerk by making the entire party responsible for her suffering, and now there's two separate groups trying chase her down and confess their love to her.

Yes. That Fucking Catte managed to derail the Mistress Super Bowl in MaidRPG.

Either her, or Uncle Kazuriha "Going Mental on the Orientals" Miller, are related to Old Man Henderson.

Alrighty, story time it is.

So one of the key parts of her personality is that she cannot take the simple and logical solution to anything.
Ever.
Which leads to such things as chasing after the Mistress for a decade, but never confessing, trying to get the Mistress to confess to her instead, and the like.

Around half way through the second session, I had gone through an eighth of jack, and came up with Operation: The Great Pool Escapade.

Session 2:
>Catte hijacks a construction crane to slingshoot chuuni maid at a chopper carrying away the mistress.
>I explicitly state that I leave the crane around the dorms

Session 3:
>I encourage everyone in the party to get extremely drunk and we empty the base of almost all the alcohol
>I also establish myself as an accountant and the person managing the books at the base
>>
>>45546807
Session 4:
>I had a midterm this week, so I had to leave the game for a few hours in between
>I roleplay it as the Catte leaving the base to go offshore in her custom Seahawk
>I pick up a large amount of sandbags to shore up the base against all the mysterious rainstorms
>I also pick up a large amount of alcohol and fruity summer drinks to restock the base cellar
>I also did this using the Mistress's credit card, which I then kept

Session 5:
>I have the genius idea of giving Roomba control over a tank
>In return, she gives me control over the base's water systems so I can do the laundry in masse
>I install a backdoor which gives me total control over the base's water system
>I also sneak into the necromancer's room and steal a bunch of spellbooks

Session 6 or so:
>While the party is adventuring to reach Dr. Acula, I make explicit note to be studying all the skeletons and magic in his castle
>I also now have a source of easy to access stone, excess material, and portal magic

Things like this gone on for a while, with each session, me taking more and more small things for unknown reasons, and then 4 months after the first session, I finally get a chance to pull the trigger.

I used the spells I stole from the ara ara~ necromancer to summon an army of skeletons, and I marched them through the base to Spooky Scary Skeletons, and I marched them through the portal I magicked up which lead to a freshly built room atop the base, which was far larger on the inside and had retractable sunroof for good measure, and I set the skeletons to work.

Meanwhile, the maids are smashing their way through the base, breaking away my skeleton employees, and they finally get to the Catte's bedroom, and they open the door to find... the skeletons on their worker comp required break, throwing a rave.

At which point the maids are challenged by the skeletons to a dance battle, while the totally not Daft Punk Skeletons drop the base with dubstep spooky scary skeletons .
>>
>>45546909
Thanks to some amazing rules, the skeleton boss fucking up his rolls (He was on the ropes, so he drank a carton of milk and gained a stat buff, but he rolled a 1, and broke a leg, literally), and a successful party dance off against a hardcore dancing skeleton crew, the maids successfully defeat the dubstep skeleton menace

They then walk through the portal of unstable dark magic to find themselves... standing on a sandy beach, with a Hawaiian bar shack, a beach house, palm trees, and a large, beach side pool.
And for good measure, there's a fucking hotsprings to the side.

And then floats by That Fucking Catte, lounging in the warm sun on a inflatable raft, sipping on a martini, skipping all of her chores for the day, and most definitely not "respecting the sanctity of the base and not breaking everything".

And that is how, across 7-8 weeks, I set up everything to derail the GM's plot so I could complete my ultimate plan:
To build a functional beachside pool and hotsprings on an off-shore platform.

> a sweet, disarming mediobot who has athletics 0, affection [too much] and a wireless network link to several AK-630 turrets just in case you start to trust her.
So the Roomba (16th gen. humanoid model) rolled what amounts to an 17 in a 3d6 in order D&D game for her affection stat (basically charisma) and basically from that lucky roll the rest of the character just followed. Lots of hugs, headpats and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies customized via powerful enough statistical analysis to make the NSA jealous (Her maid power is "Windows of the Soul"). Nothing sexual though, forbidden by law because let's be honest humanity would die out with the generation AI's that cute became commonly available. Instead just inhuman levels of agape style love for everyone.

So we start playing and as everyone starts showing the cracks in their psyche Roomba begins to have an internal crazy cat lady moment "I want to hug every meidos, but I can't hug every meido *sob sob*" and with that begins "Operation Cuddle Harem"

The chuuni maid opens up to her after panicking because of thunder, the catte earns a huge pile of points with the tank thing, the trap maid learns the joy of warm robot hug on a cold winter night, and overall everything seems to be going well. Because of how the seduction rules work I didn't want to just roll against everyone and basically become a second master in a single game. I had also bumped my affection to a 6 and a 6 is pretty much an auto win against anyone that isn't also crazy high in some thing they can use to defend, and I decided to interpret that as basically being able to abuse robot powers to manipulate the crap out of people. So in the spirit of respecting the free will of others she decided she wouldn't go for anything more than comforting hugs unless someone told her they where interested. With a bit more work I was pretty confidant I could get the entire half of the base interested in women into a polyamorus relationship. (1/?)
>>
>>45547771
Which included a maid shaped crater in the deck plate after she was suplexed into floor.
>>

Oh yes, so the chuuni maid had seduced the mistress at the time and it seemed pretty stable. Then S.A.N.T.A aka "Santa Claus" visited the base (Who Roomba is convinced is actually a stealth recon AI gone rogue do-gooder) and leaves gifts for everyone. Most notably though, is the refrigerator from hell. Seriously, it tries to eat anyone who tries to take something out of it and the things stomach is a portal to hell. So of course the Catte grabs a decent meal out of the thing before getting devoured. Shenanigans ensue and chuuni maid gets eaten to save Roomba.

At this point half the party is in hell trying to find a way out when they run into a rather frazzled office-succubus named Dana. Dana has friends in high places and is willing to help the party get back out. Turns out her mother is Lilith, arch-demon and queen of the succubi. Lilith then offers the party a deal: one portal back to the base in exchange for one date. Chuuni maid, rather smitten with her via a rather poor seduction rule volunteers her self to save the rest. Plans are made for the date and everyone pops back onto the base, including Dana who decided she really needs a vacation.

After a bit of provocation by the butler Dana rolls seduction on him and gets a pretty impressive result. The thing about butlers is that in exchange for basically being the DM's cat-herder they get godly stats, and in this case that included a will stat of 11 when maids max out at 6 without tons of favor being burned. So he politely but firmly tells her no, without the slightest hint of temptation. Picture related ensures on her part. She sticks around and the two become the most stable and happy couple on the base.

So Chuuni maid tells the mistress that she's got a date with Lilith, and in a lovestuck haze never mentions why she's doing it (saving the rest of them). Pretty much everyone on the base thinks this is bad news and that Chuuni maid is in danger. (tbc)

Everyone except for Roomba who basically assumes the best of people until they start trying to stab people. Meeting Lilith she sees a bored demon looking to have a bit of fun in the human realm, much like her daughter, and declares her harmless and the rest of the party nuts. Knowing they'll all just end up as a line of heads peaking at them around every corner Roomba puts a feed from the security cameras up on the big screen and gives running commentary on how each of them are playing things out. Meanwhile Snake and Catte both are trying to crash the date with everything from a mariachi routine to a holy landmine (They where about to kiss! Good thing they forgot the holy water) all while the mistress gets increasingly cold and bitter about the whole thing. Roomba is awestruck. She couldn't have done any better than Lilith just did with a weeks preparation time. And so she decides she's going to (quietly) make friends with her. Fortunately hell not only has WiFi but 4G too, and after nabbing her number from the base's cellular repeater arranges for them to have tea and talk shop.

Many games pass, and basically everyone has screwed everything up for Roomba's plans of a platonic harem. Chuuni maid, Snake, and the Catte all end up in a love triangle with the mistress still bitter, alone, and confused. Finally sick of their drama the mistress tells them to "Just fuck already!" and after a few games worth of setup they all confess to each other and end up in a poly relationship. Also Snake gets outed as a trap maid. Then the little arab princess seduces Snake with some nudging by the Catte, and ends up pregnant.

Over the course of all this happening in game I ran an ask blog to be able to dump all my Ghost in the Shell-esq background I thought up while working. Given peoples proclivity to ask lewd questions I took the opportunity to hint at a crush.

>Sounds like the setting doesn´t matter as long as it has a maid in it.
You can even axe maids, and quite happily. As long as it has the same sort of relationship where you're trying to impress a boss or leader it functions mostly the same.

With a minimum amount of bullshitting you can be space pirates wanting to impress Captain Badass.
>>
>>45549745
>You can even axe maids
The Catte realized this.
She also found a copy of Evangelion Rebuild in the Mistress's blu-ray case.

At which point the Catte proceeded to re-enact American Psycho to "defend the base against shitty anime".
And then fucked up and instead put an axe through the blu-ray player.

I guess she technically succeeded?

I did little things here and there in game too, baking extra cookies, disappearing during downtime, a sudden interest in gardening (One of Lilith's hobbies as shared by Dana) and even setting up another player with a dragon working for Lilith (who Roomba only met via her trips for tea and gossip with Lilith). And after building a greenhouse, cultivating a rare rose cutting, and building up her courage she finally decides to confess.

So two games after getting the necromancer and the dragon together (she had totally crushed on him while in hell) and a game after the little Arab princess tells Snake he's gonna be a dad, Roomba decides that today's the day. She'll wrap up all the chores for the day as fast as possible, invite Lilith over in secret, show her the greenhouse and confess her feelings there. It was going to be picture perfect. Key word: Was.

While bringing breakfast down to the pregnant princess, concussed necromancer, and her poly-morphed dragon BF all hell broke loose (to steal our DM's line.) Lilith stepped through a demonic portal along with a small mountain of baby shower gifts for the mom to be. Poor Roomba just about blue screened right there. Pretty much everyone on the base besides Roomba hates her guts for the date thing and she just pops up unannounced with nearly everyone around to try and murder her. Cue the fastest talking I've ever had to do, asking a personal favor of every maid on the base to at least come to Roomba before trying to blow her up. Again. After the longest, most awkward, slow-as-molasses-in January effort to drag her anywhere but there she finally gets her to the greenhouse.

And so I drop the most "Yuri-kouhai-sempai-OhGodThisIsSoEmbarassing-blushing-stuttering-nervous-wreck" confession I could write up. I told her about how it wouldn't be fair to normal people to use her full power in trying to win them over, how she was amazed at her skill during the date, how she thought she wasn't really a bad person

and how despite how different they seemed they really did have a lot in common. At this point everything else in the game has been derailed by everyone going "Wait, that just happened?" and piecing together all the clues I had left. Finally I roll for seduction, praying to not fuck it up with a terrible roll. 5. Times 6 for a 30 total.

Lilith rolls her defense. 1. Total 6.

And that's the (extremely condensed and poorly told) story of how I managed to surprise everyone else in the game and manage to make the queen of the succubi blush like a school girl and left wondering how to process this new information about herself.

I wouldn't be able to say anything on mic at all!

Also the voices. The last thing I need to hear is planefag trying to voice a trap or Catte's player doing that grating Neco-Arc voice.
>>
>>45550281
Well the system in general is rather swingy. The general philosophy is "Bell curves are for nerds" and that multiplication is good for you. So with luck and a decent stat you can win a single roll even against someone with pretty good stats. That's all you need to seduce someone and give you a rather crazy degree of control over them if you want to be an asshole.

Snake has absolutely terrible affection and rather poor will too. Catte bought up to 3 before pulling the most cheesy, sappy Guinevere and her gallant knight impromptu stage play with Snake, Chuuni and Catte basically did the whole "Slap Slap Kiss" thing with a dose of gay chicken, and Chuuni basically won Snake with a mix of stonking great tits, genki, and "I'm not cute!" moe.

>>45550959
No really >>45550909 is right. Maid is a great game to play if you have the right people and the right mindset about it, and if you really wanted to you could even play it IRL, but the freedom of not having to filter things out with text makes it so much better.

Whenever I was getting burned out on the main campaign I was running, or whenever we were down a person and didn't want to continue without them, I would declare a Maid day.

And we would use all random tables to roll up everything. Setting, Master, Maids, starting random event.

Imagination, anon.
Game systems are tools. Some, like D&D, are more focused tools. You can get away with less imagination, the end result will have less variance, but it'll make do.
Some systems are open as fuck, and the only limit is your group's ability to bounce their creativity off of one another and the GM's ability to wrangle them.
The limitations of a game system define how responsible the group as a whole and as individuals are for creating their own fun.

Basic premise is that Master must marry a rich heiress to save his family, the wedding is scheduled for 7 days time, preparations must be made.

This resulted in, in no particular order:

> Two attempts on the master's life
> A lot of cat hair in the morning omelettes
> The drugging of a police inspector
> One maid going insane and attempting to burn the house down.
> Earth making contact with a race of alien space-chameleons.
> The fanciest goddamn wedding cake ever produced.
> The bride-to-be (who was also -PLOT TWIST- a space chameleon) being seduced by a maid, (who also happened to be a magical girl).

Maid outfits are an option. Right now I've got
>Street Clothes: You wear casual civilian clothing instead of the standard-issue uniform.
>Sharp-Dressed: You are more formally dressed than a mere AP [Asset Protector] has any right to be. Business suits, capes, and ties are all fair game.
>Gear:You wear light armor (padded leather, flak jacket, Kevlar) with lots of bandoliers, pockets, and other tacticool-looking gubbins.
>Skinny: Your clothing is skimpy, and shows off more muscle or skin than standard (whether this is intentional or accidental is variable).
>Full-Body: You wear a suit of some kind (armor, HAZMAT gear, mechanical exoskeleton) that covers your entire body, including your face.
>Maid/Butler: You wear the formal clothing appropriate of an upper-class maid or butler. The exact style depends on the circumstances.

I'm doing my best to differentiate it from normal MAID, but I'm still working out the details. You can go maid, but if you want to go full maid, you might as well play MAID.

Especially the way it handles the accumulation of overcharge or whatever it's called- it's not like Sayaka was spewing off bits of random magic and uncontrollable lust before she witched out, it just, eventually happened.

Continuosly roll random tables and see where things go. Thankfully players can spend favor to purchase a random event themselves.

Super useful when aliens were about to destroy the mansion. One maid as a last resort spent favor, and a portal to a fantasy world opened up. A bunch of paladins came out and began to Deus Vult the aliens with the help of the maids. It was pretty good.

So after a few sessions, the Mistress had been kidnapped more than once, and had more than one NPC suitor chasing after her.

The Catte was not amused, since the Mistress, in her mind, belonged to her.

Which lead to the Catte creating a fucking "Application to Date Mistress Millie" form.
And whenever the villain of the week showed up, almost always somehow demanding to see the mistress, she'd force them to fill out the form.

Keep in mind the Catte is also the one managing the books on Meido Base and taking care of all the paperwork.

She set up a paper shredder below her printer/fax machines and trashed all the NPC forms.
And for the ones people actually handed in to her, she slapped with a huge red stamp, "DENYAAIED!".

Her's of course, she approved.

The thing to take away is, the Catte's player is seriously committed to his jokes, and follows through.

He actually made the "Application to Date Mistress Millie" form.

>Childhood friend type butler's daughter
>Tsundere trap maid
>Hidden trait busty witch
>Witch's catgirl familiar
It started out pretty normal, but everything went sideways when literal illegal aliens arrived to fix up the kitchen.
>>
>>45561785
That's how half our sessions ended up.
Things would start pretty normal, with the staff making breakfast, doing the beds, helping the mistress get dressed, etc.

And then some chucklefuck (or the GM) rolls a random event and everything goes to Hell, or the Catte decides she wants to derail things again.

There was one time we woke up and somehow the Catte had replaced the Mistress's entire wardrobe (previously guy clothes) with a giant selection of outfits and accessories (exceptionally frilly, feminine, outfits that emphasized her body, etc.).
Which derailed the party trying to find the perfect outfit for the Mistress.

The amazing thing is that she somehow keeps managing to justify everything she does, with evidence and examples from previous sessions.
Her player has admitted to have folder full of derailing ideas and pulls from there when he feels like it.

You are under no obligation to use 'em. In fact a lot of the rules take aim at mocking common lewd Japanese tropes (such as the item "Mysterious Vibrating Egg," read its description,) so if you were to play a chaste character that visits violence upon the lewd ones, it'd fit right in.

The players spent every last bit of favor they gained on generating Random events. At all times.

I got to give the master shaved ice. It was a good day.

We never found out why an iceberg wanted us dead because one of the other maids used an item called a 'maid fist', which if i remember right gave some nice combat bonuses at the cost of triggering a random event each time you attack with it, and tried to go all One Punch Maid on the unruly block of ice.

Don't worry, just do it. The one good thing the game has to it's design is that it gives incredible autonomy and incentive for players to make their own game out of it. Roll everything randomly and run with what you get and you're pretty much guaranteed to have an original, chaotic game.

Because of this thread I made my usual group roll maids. They are wary but I hope fun will be had. One of them rolled perfectly and his story writes itself !

>>
>>45576281
It's only as erpy as you make it. The options with fetish potential are there, but the game doesn't revolve around them. The presence of those features in the game often deter people from it, especially given how closely they follow from the premise of ostensibly submissive anime maids working to please their master, but those features are definitely not front and center and are easily dispensable.

It's like an anime that has a lot of weird fanservice that is actually pretty easy to ignore, but nonetheless scares people away who might otherwise really enjoy the rest of the show.

Hello /tg/, I have read the rules and I have a question with the way the Mansion is created. It says :
>Step 6: Create Encounter Table
>Create an encounter table you can roll on using 1D6. Write down the name of the maids [...] and assign a number to each. Fill in the blanks with the master's name.

What purpose does this table serve ? What do I roll with it ? I haven't seen anything related to this after that part.

>>
>>45578040
The encounter table is for determining who {random thing] happens to for some of the random events, or generally for picking a target at random.
Fill the table with 6 names and then roll a d6.
Personally I just make everyone roll luck, because the game encourages you to make excuses to use the luck stat.
>>
>>45537677

Nay, it uses a d6 system actually.

Also. how crazy you make it and how much romance and sex are involved (and whether you even use the stock "seduction" system) are up to you.

Its strengths are it can be adapted to many different settigns and the level of mundanity and craziness can be easily shifted around.

I've been in 3 games of MAID.

1 largely involved a adventure and politics. (set in the distant future and starting on one of the many planets humanity has colonized by this time)

1 was more of a "buddy cop" and "action movie" game. (modern earth and rather mundane)

1 is still ongoing and seems to be involving a lot of family drama, personal growth, and dealing with ones past mistakes with bits of whimsy and comic relief thrown in to lighten things up. (modern setting on an earth that is also a fantasy kitchen sink)

In game 1

The master was a young noble who had lost his parents and much of his fortune, and had a more powerful family angling to snag his title by forcing him to marry into their line before he could rebuild his fortunes.

While all the PCs were talented or skilled they had rather different personalities and had never worked together before. After making the Master's current abode (a suitably luxurious and stately mansion to host peers that he'd managed to get a hold of though a combination of calling in favors and the fact that the region it was built in had recently undergone a civil war so land values were crap and the mansion itself was both abandoned and needed to have the minefields around it cleared away)

after foiling a kidnapping attempt and learnin the full scope of the master's problems we convinced him that, instead of just surrendering to the other family, we would take the remains of his fortune and purchase a starship and set out to both make new political allies and find business and trade opportunities that would allow him to begin to rebuild his financial base at the same time.

Game 2

The master was a member of a wealthy Arab-Italian business family and was being targeted for kidnapping.

One of the maid's (the "old cop") had pretty much grown up beside the master and was friend, servant, and bodyguard.

The other two (the "young guns") had been brought in on a trial basis and the first job the three of them had been given together was to find the people who were trying to kidnap the master, find out why they were trying to do this, and put a stop to them.

Game 3 is still ongoing. It has been the "wackiest", but, as you might be able to tell from how I described it, is not just "lol random Woo!".

I hope this has helped you.

You're just excusing yourself.
I gathered players for an Aberrant game with no holds barred (that is, the players were free to play their magical realms - it's actually not cringy at all, and I'm surprised too) a few months ago, and we've had half a dozen sessions that all went off with no hitches. Everyone's nice (though mentioning YGO will get the chat screeching off topic in two seconds flat as two of the players go at it), the games go well and it's bloody great fun.
The good games are out there, and they're even more likely to be good if it's a rare game, especially one that's hard to find people to play with IRL like Maid. People will act much nicer when the group isn't a dime a dozen and the fanbase isn't a huge, multimillion-strong mix of normies and Those Guys like a lot of big-league games.
If I didn't have a ton on my plate right now, in fact, I'd be right in with you. I say go for it - a failed game isn't going to mean you'll never play Maid, but not trying at all sure as hell does.

>My only hope would be random Internet groups, an we all know how good my chances for that is. Damnit!

As Sam's player, I can sympathize. Every online group I have ever joined - aside from this one - has been a trainwreck of autism. I think MaidRPG *really* helps lessen that issue because there's so little crunch; it's damn near freeform.

The key to Maid is to find a group of friends to play with - as in, people who are ALREADY your friends. You can use the base system mechanics without using the MAID parts if you want; shit you could run a WWI game with MAID's mechanics if you really want, with stress explosions being SQUAD BROKEN issues. When you play with FRIENDS you are most concerned about having fun WITH one another, not one-upping anyone. Half the giggles we've had in our game are because of this - hell, most of em, in fact. I've seen everyone go out of their way to give someone else more screentime just for the hell of it and/or pull them into the current shenanigans.

Y'all gotta love one another, right n- fuck. No. I can never love that song again. THANKS, CATTE.

The only thing about doing it as a text game over roll20 is you'll want to segregate OOC from IC in some meaningful way. If the group is small enough, just alternating between speaking OOC and speaking IC with player/character names might be okay, but there's also running your ooc discussion on skype or something and reserving the roll20 log for IC actions only.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe, an all-text game is actually much easier to keep track of because people can't talk over each other and it's possible to backread the discussion. It can get a little confusing when there are multiple threads of conversation at once, but if you haven't mastered that skill you haven't been in enough chats.

Sam's player is on it. I'm playing a roll20 campaign of something else right now, and the only reason it's been a good experience is because the group is united in its sense of purpose to go forth and have tons of fun without stepping on each other. Online games can be tough to get ass-in-chair for, but people are having fun and enjoy playing with one another, so they are willing to show up week after week and pay attention (more or less) to what's going on instead of finding other things to do.

We actually started out as strangers, but we met off roll20 in a space catering to a couple of narrow interests so that helped us gel I suppose. Then characters were made as a group effort riffing off each other's ideas, and the actual for serious plot of the game/it's big bad were an idea the players had themselves in the early brainstorming stages and we all immediately fell in love with it. By the time we started they knew each other's characters on a basic level and juuust enough meta knowledge of the big bad to be excited about bringing them down. It really smoothed over the awkward starting bit.

As long as everyone is on board and you have a clear, common interest and a basic respect for each other (and open communication channels), your chances are pretty good!
>>
>>45583209
>The key to Maid is to find a group of friends to play with - as in, people who are ALREADY your friends.
That might be my best bet. My longtime gaming group is a bunch of normies that would balk at the notion of MAIDS--the exact same as I did before I read the stories in this topic. Maybe I'll take the mercenaries idea expressed earlier...

>>45583290
>segregate OOC from IC in some meaningful way.
Unfortunate Roll 20 isn't robust enough to do that itself, thanks for the heads-up.
>>
>>45582855
As said, that's not what you do.
You ask people, usually on here, if they want to start up a game. The Roll20 community in itself is too Wil Wheaton to be reliable, so you just put out the word among people here who want to play. It's not like you have to be an admin to set up a game or the like - you can set up whatever game you want, as long as you take the initiative.
Just a heads-up - it'll go a lot easier if you offer to be the GM. Someone needs to do it, and if you can do it, you've already gotten one of the hardest parts about gathering a group down.
>>
>>45583598
The one time I was in a roll20 game, we kept everything IC in the roll20 chat, and then for OOC talk we used skype, both text and voice. It could also work with a room on an irc server, teamspeak, discord, whatever chat service or voip you want.
Still, imo the biggest thing is to have the ability to read back the IC material. The fact that in text your words and actions have to be typed out and that takes time means that things are already a bit asynchronous. Might as well use it your advantage and let people refill their drinks/grab snacks/shit without having to notify the group and putting talk on hold.
>>
>>45583611
Sorry, my mistake.

The only experience with tabletop games that I have, is reading the core rulebooks and /tg/, so I´d probably make a terrible GM. Only been looking for a roll20 game in order to gather experience. Maid looked easy enough for that.

Asked my brother for a game and he wlaked away, laughing.
>>
>>45583678
This. It's actually pretty great when two characters are having some kind of meaningful conversation, the other players can take the time to hit the head or whatever and still come back and know what went down. And if you have to skip a session or so because of reasons, you can always look back at your logs to remember for certain what had happened. It's hardly an essential thing, but it's very nice.

Plus I don't have to listen to people with bad microphones, attempts to do voices, inappropriately chosen background music, the like.

>>45583738
It's okay, mate. The only way you'll get better is to give it a shot. People are usually sympathetic to a first time GM as long as you're clearly trying. Maid would probably work for it, too, because it is pretty light, but it also comes with certain expectations (as this thread has demonstrated) that need to be managed.

If you can't actually find a group to play with, watch or listen to some actual play recordings? Preferably for the game you want to run, but anything of reasonable quality should be enough to show you the feel of people sitting around a table rolling dice to decide what happens. "Tabletop" is actually not bad for showing a game if you don't mind Wil Wheaton, though it's a bit scripted.

You'll never get there if you don't try, though. And if you want to build a group, /tg/ has its problems but if you get along with most of the board anyway it's not a bad place to look for players with similar interests.
>>
>>45583918
Kay. Will be watching several recordings then.

Before, I play, I have to work on setting and plot anyway, or I just take one of the sample sessions. From what I´ve read of the random events, the player´s would be taking quite a load of my shoulder´s.

And sorry for this last question, but who is this wheaton guy you speak. I only vaquely remember an actor from star trek tng with that name. Could be wrong, though.
>>
>>45584105
That's him. He's an actor who hosts the youtube show "Tabletop" which showcases a variety of tabletop games, roleplaying and non, and styles himself a major figure in "geek" culture. He's pretty polarizing is all.
>>
>>45583738
You don't have to be scared of starting out knowing jack. I started as a GM by picking up the Vampire: the Masquerade Revised rulebook, and that was that. No Internet, no asking other people, just winging it together with a bunch of other edgy teens.
I sucked in the beginning, of course, but you're always going to suck in the beginning. No matter what, you're going to be bad in the beginning, because GMing is a hard job. Pussyfooting around the issue will only make it hurt more when you finally get to it, because nothing can replace practical experience when you've read the rulebook properly. The worst thing in my book is people who do research out their asses because they want to be good straight out the gate, but the only thing you'll gain from that is an inflated sense of self-worth.
GMing is mainly improvisation, reading the mood, setting a scene and knowing how to keep a poker face - those are things you learn by sitting down at the table and playing a game. The only things you can become especially good at before playing your first game are narrative tricks, and you should know the ones you need if you've ever written a story and can read your players' mood.
Everyone's been through their beginning years, and if you get shat on, it's because those players expect everyone else to be as good from the get-go as they are now, and have forgotten that they blew in the beginning. I've "raised", so to say, about a dozen roleplayers from the ground up, and everyone sucks in the beginning to some degree. The only thing that matters in the end is how hard they're willing to work to fix it.
>>
>>45584230
He doesn´t look all that much like shut up wesley. Point´s in his favor.

Going to watch tabletop tommorrow. Need to go to bed for work, if the thread´s still up tommorrow, I will be checking back in. Good Night.

I have to agree with what Sam said, MaidRPG really really needs a healthy does of MST3K mantra to be playable for most grognards here.
Of course a good dose of loving friendship between each other doesn't hurt either.

It seems there are 90 unique posters in this thread, so there is interest. Even if you're a new GM try starting up a game yourself and get people hooked, it looks like it's not too hard to rotate GMs if you collectively fall in love with the setting. I know I did!

Butlers are like 2nd edition Paladins. Mechanically, they are inarguably superior to other characters, but they have a bibleful of caveats and rules to abide by. Well, it isn't that long, but it's incredibly restrictive because of the degree to which they contrast with the spirit of the game. Also like Paladins, they represent Order to counter the Maid's chaos.

Chuuni-maid player here. If anybody is undecided about a setting, I might have something for you.

I talked about this one idea with a friend that ended up being a setting that is basically Typical Shonen Anime But With Maids and varying levels of seriousness vs. silliness.

The basic background is that the maid job market is thinning due to the prevalence of 2D and it becoming easier and easier to interact with waifus. Cute maids alone just won't cut it anymore. And the economy has hit a major slump; in response, the rich and powerful are less willing to part with their money. Having more than one maid is seen as a luxury; more than two is frivilous. More than three is nearly unheard of.

So all the companies that hire out maids must compete for the few remaining contracts on the field of maidery; who can cook the tastiest food? Who is most capable of defending their master? Who has the best singing voice? Can they care for sick animals? The maids also compete in in other, less obvious fields, like calligraphy, dancing, construction, fishing, vidya, painting, and whatever other things the master believes they'll need to be good at (this is to keep things interesting). As their potential master is a spectator in these clashes, they are a Big Deal, for the maids involved, and for their sponsors. It is by their word who is the winner at the end of the day. It is up to the Master, or Mistress, which maid, and by extension, which company, will get the needed paycheck.

Meanwhile, the dreaded Butlers wait patiently for the best opportunity to strike.

This setup would have the maids directly competing against one another for favor through a series of trials. At the end of the day, the maid with the most favor gets hired (or not, it's up to the master who, if anyone, wins), and the player with the winning maid rolls up a new maid for the next competition/session. How you organize it probably depends on group size and whether or not you want to have an ongoing story. You can go with a 1-vs-1 style tournament arc against other maid NPCs and other PCs if you have a large enough number of players, with the maids in the audience (and even the losers) providing colorful commentary. You can even do 2-vs-2 team style tournaments for a wealthy master who wants a matched set.

Shonen cliches are highly encouraged. Have at least one pair of rivals. If there's a close match between two maids, spend favor to summon a random event that hopefully tips the scales in your favor, or use your Risky Secret Technique, or memories of your sickly mother who needs expensive medicine to keep going, to enhance your stat or die roll. Has your maid failed the competition too many times? They go off on Secret Hardcore Training. If a player can't make it but doesn't want the game to be put on hold, Something Happened To Them and they come back later claiming sabotage. And be prepared to ham up your roles in whatever capacity you can. Feel the ham. Embrace the ham. Be the ham. Hug your destiny, meido. Hug it.

I hope this inspires some people!

Yes, my friend calls it Hunger Maids, too.

Roomba suggests avoiding strictly physical combat and for maids to figure out how to play to their strengths. If you're strong, that's good and all, but how do you fare at other stuff, or against a cunning enemy? If you're skilled, can you still beat someone with phenomenal luck or someone who put their heart (affection) into everything they cook? And having higher will means you can suffer losses without having a stress explosion that could cost them precious favor. A match where the outcome is already known from the beginning begs for the would-be loser to, at the very least, put on a very strong showing. Go with shounen logic!

I guess this places a lot of the creative burden on the GM. A random table for choosing competitions might help matters.

Also a random event table for stuff you can invoke ("I'm actually left handed", "IT CANNOT BE", "She's fast!", family cheering someone on, A MYSTERIOUS MASKED FIGURE, etc.). Not all of them would be to the user's benefit. They'd have different effects similar to existing random event tables.

I think it would be a fun thing to do even without the whole setting. Who wouldn't want an over the top maid tournament ? There could be the usual maid stuff like dusting old bookshelves, but this time with maid powers to cheat/hit the competition, and then unusual shit like corrida or true maid battles. I might be storing that idea for latter use, thanks anon !

On another note, I just read the seduction optionnal rule and I'm wondering if there is a way to end a relationship except with a tragedy ? Is it only up to the seducer or can the seduced do a roll sometime in the game or something ?
Thanks for you help, this is a great thread.
>>
>>45594341
A situation like that has never really come up in my games. Although, since the Tragedy rules are completely optional (and they even suggest not using them), you can feel free to think up your own way to end one

>maid powers to cheat
>that time my maid and another player's ninja maid got into a cleaning challenge where we needed to clean more windows on the outside of the house
>the ninja maid is getting to the second story windows with ease
>use 4D Dress to steal the hookshot from one of the other maid's rooms
>GM asks me to roll Athletics to use it
>keep rolling too low to actually climb up
>resort to trying to steal the ninja maid's cleaning supplies with 4D Dress
>lose the contested roll
>I stop trying and just watch the sunset as she finishes up
>for winning the ninja got to play with her huge chest
>>
After trying generating a character three times, I have found myself with:

>A black-haired killer immune to pain who became a maid to redeem herself and reverts back to her former killer self when overstressed,
>A pure and boyish quiet one-eyed vampire slave who's a member of a fringe political organization, drinks her problems away and uses a stupidly oversized revolver,
>And a blonde-haired blue eyed sexy/cool type maid who wears a transparent metal cheongsam that also has the power of Hammerspace, covers one of her eyes with her hair, and is a cyborg with internal weaponry that also practices Onmyodo while training to become the perfect bride.

The character creation in this can get absolutely insane and I love it, I wish I had friends to play this with.
>>
>>45594589
It's a lot more fun than it looks.
>>
>Shy, Quiet, and Sickly
I don't know how to deal with this.
>>
Maybe it's my Rust Belt background, but playing a "maid" that works on mansion maintenance (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) is more appealing than more traditionally maidly stuff. Would there be a place for that sort of thing in MAID? It seems a bit too dull and "gritty", but I can't imagine myself going full meido just yet.
>>
>>45595497
What maid types did you roll?
>>45595640
Yeah, you can do that. Everyone else makes the place look pretty, but YOU. YOU do the dirty work that keeps the mansion functioning. You're the one who holds everything together. You're awesome.
>>
>>45595497
I rolled something similar once. I ended up clinging to a louder, brutish maid another player rolled all day, to the point where she princess carried me to the medroom because I coughed up blood

Sickly is a fun trait

>>45595640
Totally. If it means that there's a chance for events and mishaps due to, say, AC/plumbing malfunctioning that's even better
>>
I had a couple hours yesterday sitting in the waiting room of a repair shop while my car was getting fixed, and since their wifi was crap I killed the time rolling up random maids, a master, and a mansion.

Wound up with two weirdoes, and one utterly, utterly ordinary girl:
>A sexy/loli kappougi-wearing tiger shapeshifter with a wooden sword and the Escape power.
>A sexy/boyish magical girl with an overactive imagination, a chainsaw, and the Ultimate Retort power
>A loli/heroine whose only noteworthy features are her hair being done up in ringlets and dumplings. Her weapon is an ordinary kitchen knife, and her special power is that she works *really hard* at her maidly duties.

They serve a 10-year-old albino boy who's covered in scars and prefers sexy maids. He commands tremendous military might, and his "mansion" contains a powerful device of some kind.

Said "mansion" is in fact simply a humble office space in a cyberpunk world. But this office, for some reason, contains advanced medical facilities and a fancy four-poster bed.

And the campaign type is horror.
