To prevent overflow in main game threads Gen Threads will be running concurrently with Skirmish threads to reduce post traffic:

What gets posted here;
Rules discussion, OOC talk. GM clarifications [also avialable in the main thred]. IC or tactical can be posted in Game thread but Tactical chatter can be deposited here.

Essentially, if you are not going to act on it, say it here. Anything said in the IG thread is considered IC/Tactical talk.

When will thread post ? Soonish probably midnight.
Anything else in this thread ? I will start discussing patches, specifically

patch 5.5; Powder and Zeal.

Sir! Any chance you can clarify this Marshal Decree? What do we have to do recieve packages and what are they sending, Sir?
--
Anyway - the battle is moving away from us.

I've marked the Rig Points in green, and I suggest we find a way to move some support over to Hetros and the Hunters on the west side. The Hel-Moblin horde is about to breach the gate. Coffee could contain them, as can Burkhard - with a few shots. One action to place the rig, one action from either Livia or Hetros to move them over. Please consider this.

Meave, you have Ghost Paper, and you can possibly help rescue Jenny from her demon - if Jenny wants the demon out. If you move north and just toss the paper into the pit, someone can grab it on the way down and apply it to Jenny.

The Castor along the shoreline down south I've marked with yellow. They stilly have artillery and the ability to attack us, but they're also slow and not so dangerous as to be an immediate threat because Rodann shields us. If we move west to interdict the Hel-Moblins, the castor will follow anyway.

Any suggestions?

" Ah what a good reliable source of income "

=Midians=
As the great exodus from Avalon ramped up in magnitudes there created was a network of tunnels ruled by night creatures, among them was ancient Midians who were at one point Rulers in the kingdom of Eternal Night , Nocturne. This noble creature had its beginnings as a monster that preyed on humans but soon after generation of predatory conversions, created a generation of Human Sired vampires known as Midians which have lived on to this day still remembering the blood debt humanity owed them for protecting them from Monsters back during the Age of Antiquity. It is for this reason that most Midian strains infiltrate the upper crusts of society and inhabit noble families as unaging family retainers waiting for the day when a young lordling or second princess would make themselves available to their secretive line, more often than not, with the consent of their lord.
Midians throughout the generations have developed powers dependent on their Sire while more blood yet would add to their very own. In this case the Media Spiral Midian has developed a knack for Regeneration, a stable hunger of 1 victim per floor, and the ability to shift through walls via porrous Anima vibrations. This selfsame ability allows them to make biting contact with their targets regardless of their armor. HOwever to defend oneself against these creatures, one would need the light of Stars themselves to enflame their racing blood and the parasites within. Because of the strange physicality of their blood-body, Midians have also been observed walking on water, reshaping their bodies into their past victims, and manipulating the actions of those they've bitten.
>>Moore...
>>
>>45716000
Because of this, Midians have been potent agents in the shadows of each family's history, while more coarse and unreliable strains of them have taken fully to acting like their bestial ancestor and have wrought force to get what they want, no doubt drinking in the endless seas of blood of innocents for the sport and ecstasy of it. So fierce was the human retaliation that the blood scourge continued on for 13 generations until the Midians were scattered all across the spiral with little hope of recouping their strength.

Midians die from sunlight, are allergic to silver, and find the smell of burnt herbs and roots foul and acidic, Pure water also numbs their senses . They can drink blood fresh out from any creature but wont gain the needed nutrients to sustain their body unless it was those within their race. [Making them cannibalistic or parasitic by nature] Their extreme strength and Speed make up for all these shortcomings, as well as their ability to steal the "Knowledge" of their victims through their blood. Indeed it was for this reason that Midians were once called the Taking King.

I have a question for Latvian -and Velen as well.
As you know, we have sort of a situation with Jenny and her demon. The idea is to drive out the demon with the Ghost Paper but we're not sure what happens with the demon next. Personally, I'm not comfortable with having it wandering around. Likely it would be up to no good.
So I would like to ask you if it's possible to either bind or slay the demon? If Velen is up to, or interested in this as an Editor, perhaps he could bind it for future use. Knowing the risks involved would be most helpful as well..
>>
>>45717352
Binding it is a possibility, but the tricky thing about binding is getting something onto a binding circle. I can't draw them under something's feet, generally speaking. I was able to do so earlier because the feet hadn't quite made it into this reality yet. I could quite likely do something with the assistance of a Scholar, but I haven't had the chance to experiment much yet. It also might be a good idea to have someone channel me if we attempt it. A little extra magical power can only help.

>More a rules clarification, is [Blood Hunger] sated with a [feeding] kill, or just a successful [feed]?
>>
>>45717352
The exorcism action is very clear that we have to defeat the demon after exorcising it.
>>
>>45717769
I'd define binding it as defeating it. Even moreso than killing it, even.
>>
>>45717788
I'd prefer to just make sure it was full stop dead honestly, no risks. If it's only a medium sized demon? Sure. Otherwise binding it might take too much effort.
>>
>>45717693
>>45717807
I'm okay with forcing it into some form of vessel/container just so we know it's not wandering around. Killing it dead was always on the options list. Whichever is our safest bet -but let's hear what Latvian has to say about our options?

This is a general announcement to all those who participated in Floor 4 : Luxendarc.

There was a bit of confusion over what counted towards boss fight leveling. If you participated in killing the Pumpkin Treeant, the Gourd Deep Weasel and the Giant Pumpkin Bomb disposal you get to take the boss participation bonus of an additional level. Remember there is still a hard cap of only 2 levels for the floor so don't take a third one if you already had leveled up from a different boss fight that floor.

So I guess this would be the place to have this discussion.

If "we" were to try to make use of the party system suggested by Monday, how many of you would be wiling to lead a (smallish) party?

Just want to get feelers out here for this, since if nobody wants to play squad leader, then explaining the intent of the squad system implemented in SQ would be pointless.

Llama water isn't food it is drink, but I'll take it.
>>
>>45721512
How many uses does water get again?
>>
>>45721463

Well, okay, guess there's some interest, so I'll explain the system.

The CO, that being Jackie, picks two or three, maybe more, competent individuals that they trust and show some degree of leadership competency. These individuals would command squads.

Squads are composed of, perhaps no more than 6 people. Due to the nature of the game, they are somewhat semi-permanent, but they'll essentially have a core of the squad leader and a few frequent players. These squads have a GENERAL composition that allows them (in theory) to accomplish any small-term goal that Jackie throws to them; i.e. "go secure the dias." Though at the same time, the individual nature of these squads means that they'll eventually come to be more apt for some roles than others.
>>
>>45721577
So each squad could have a specialty? Can we get insignia!? Be color coded even? It would make it easier to comprehend stuff. I just want a squad patch
>>
>>45721577

For example, we might get a squad with a large number of knights and guides, in which case, they would be the go-to group for front line action. These squads aren't limited to the traditional MMO roles that individuals takes; rather, they are defined by what they are capable of. So we can have one squad that leans towards front-end combat, another that specializes in neutralizing magical obstacles, another that does sneaky shit, and a high-mobility squad that can quickly respond to any situation that comes up.

Anyway, command structure goes as thus: CO (Jackie) defines general objectives and mission goals, and will hand out assignments to individual squad leaders as they see fit. Squad leaders then take charge of their small merry band of murderhobos and leads them to accomplish their assigned task. Then there's feedback, but that comes naturally.

On squad composition: I've heard it suggested that squads be organized by classes. This is a big NO. Why? Because if one squad finds itself up shit creek, we risk loosing all of our knights, hunters, etc. Additionally, class numbers fluctuate - and for guys like Coffee and Zieg, where do they end up? With the mixed squad composition above, we could, IN THEORY, stand to completely loose a squad, and we won't loose our entire ability to tank magic, so to speak.

>>45721623
Yeah, I guess. In SQ it was even encouraged, because it was fun and it promoted squad cohesion. Or something like that. Mostly because it was fun.
>>
Everyone with me Khya, Morat and Bloom.

We are adjacent to each other so handing an item among us costs no actions. So we can do it in a chain of using 1 Act to drink and free acts to pass the water along.

I'll drink from the flask and pass it to Morat, Morat drinks then passed it back to me I pass it to Khya, Khya can pass it to Bloom and Bloom back to Khya and Kyha back to me.

Just going to point this out for the main thread guys

If we don't reinforce the stairs immediately, demons are going to over run them.

The very idea of this pissed off the order so much they asked our Navigators to -destroy- the stairs rather than allow it to happen.

Now some of you might not realize it, but the stairs are a kinda vital thing to EVERYONE. You don't destroy them lightly.

My apprentice, Falconi, gave his life trying to stop one of the worst types of enemies, a possessor, from getting up the stairs. Now demon moblins are about to make it up there.

For -fuck's- sake. Please, get your asses over here? A Healer, somebody with lots of AoE's? Ask Livia to suspend you over, or I overwatched a suspend. But please, for fuck's sake. Get over here before we get blamed AGAIN and have MORE PEOPLE trying to kill us?

Also, I would like to point out.

If the Order gets pissed off at us -enough-

WE LOSE THE ABILITY FOR NEW PLAYERS TO SPAWN IN AS KNIGHTS OR GUIDES!

NOT PISSING OFF THE ORDER SHOULD BE A PRIORITY RIGHT NOW CONSIDERING THEY PROBABLY BLAME US FOR THIS SINCE THEIR LEADER JUST DIED AND NONE OF THE REST OF THEM SAW THE SUMMONER KID.

Thank you.
>>
>>45727094
Easy there, caps lock. There's lots of stuff to do and lots of people who need help and healing, and we only have so many people to go around.

And if someone moves to help you right now and gets rigged, they die. There's a giant bomb about to drop right down on their faces and that won't help anybody.
>>
>>45728148

There's that rock over there with chains on it, is that a rigged tile?

And even if we don't go over right now we really need to get over there at some point, we might not get utterly blown out by the Order if some Moblins escape but if the Castors and Hell-marines get out we're in a for a rollicking.

Also what the hell is Giratina, my entire action right now is banking on 'Do I need to shoot it right now and can I actually damage it in any way, shape or form.
>>
>>45728285
No, it's just a rock with chains around. It's likely a trap the hunters set up. they have a few of those including an explosive mine that went off when the demons stepped on it. Some last ditch stair defense. The Rig Point is 1 e of Hetros at the moment but unfortunately it's about to be blown up with a giant bomb. I'd not recommend going there.

Bomb is probably going to be reflected away.

Hello friends! Let's Talk Tactics!

It's Talia the Tactician here, with some helpful suggestions to better prepare you runners to f̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶d̶i̶e̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶n̶t̶r̶y̶ adventure for fun and profit!

Today's tactical advice of the day is:

1) Have your M[I]litiamen hand their binoculars to [R]ogues. Rogues have both high mobility AND action economy to make far better use of them to scout ahead safely than Militia, who should be spending their actions to load and shoot like good little soldiers!

2) Binoculars can be used in conjunction with Overwatch actions to kill groups of enemies at a distance! Have a long-range class like Militia or a Mage with the proper spell prepared overwatch to shoot at enemies in the revealed spaces, to wound or kill enemies before they have a chance to act!

3) Speaking of overwatch, Guides can overwatch Pulse actions of the Terras variety to block incoming enemy fire! Speaking of blocks, Mages with Block spells and access to Terras or Iron spells can do this too! This is useful for covering yourselves and your teammates when advancing, especially into unknown territory.

4) Another overwatch trick, especially useful for [R]ogues, classes with above average actions, or scouting is to overwatch one action to take cover or flee from danger. This can be the difference between ending your turn in range of a flesh eating monstrosity and being too far away to attack!

5) Adjacent units can swap places with one another! [K]nights can use this in conjunction with overwatch to bodyguard frailer members of your team and intercept attacks!

This is Talia the Tactician, talking tactics at Let's Talk Tactis! See you next time!

Moore is most likely rolling in his grave right now.
>>
Mostly I think he is rolling around in Livia's pockets.
>>
>>45737046

I would rather just do the binocularing for our rogues upon request, seeing as using up an inventory slot for them means one less fun (read: lethal) toy to play with and/or one less open spot for loot (rogues seem to have a knack for acquiring stuff). This would mean rogues get to utilize all three of their actions for move/overwatch during our initial pre-combat stages.

Also, doubling any stat of our guns via load (double the bullet damage and/or range) can have lethal ramifications for the militiaman firing the weapon.

Good ideas, nevertheless.

>I miss the days when we could have a machinegunner sit on top of a tank and overwatch, then have said tank move for him.
>>
We have four separate priorities right now

1) Demons at the gates. There are very few of the Wyrd Hunt nearby, and the hunters there are busy, and have already lost multiple people. Demons getting onto the Stairs is a bad thing.

2) Laughing Girantina. This ghost of a boss is the Wyrd Hunt's responsibility after our newest friends dealt with the previous iteration. Right now it has only taken 21 damage. We need to put it down quickly.

3) Mainly because of this problem. A literal Demon has emerged from Jenny the Slayer. One of our oldest and most successful runners. She needs our help to quell the beast so she can be free of its curse.

4) Quega. The Floor Boss. This Three Headed King is not going to be a walk in the park. The people currently closest to it are not prepared for such a battle on their lonesome, but they have started to get worryingly close to this fearsome beast. They will need our support and more worryingly we cannot simply avoid the creature. One of our member needs it dead in order to dispel her curse. So we're gonna have to fight it. However such a task can wait for a little while longer until our other concerns have been met.

I'm handling Giratina, it would help if Questi showed us the stats for it so we know what will work against it. I'm assuming since the earth spell got no selled and the Truesilver Bullets hurt it that it's some sort of ghost so if anyone has any Lux spells or something it would help.

Then I should have 4 bullets left to deal with Jenny's problem, remind me to thank Armistan for these bullets. And not going postal on us when given a loaded gun.

After that since I got these heavy metal bullets it might be a good chuck against those buggers in the west, especially against the Castors. Unless I'm needed to fight the floor boss.
>>
>>45737980
We can still do that. It just involves a filled maiden and the militia being on top of the maiden, and someone to drag it..

>>45738027
3) Demon first. It is right there. I'n a room of allies. Not sure if its incorporeal or if a cleanse or something makes it slashable. looks like it may have possessed dead harpy.

1)Demons. I am not sure what to do here. I would have suggested rig ferrying our new midian allies with their extra actions but sunlight equals Lux apparently. Or maybe it doesn't. Mutation only states Lux so they may be day fine. I can also H and P Khya within Accel distance for a few extra actions in that room

2) I don't know how to stab a ghost. This is a problem for a lot of our members. Make it corporeal and hunters will find a way to drag it underground into shanking distance.

4) Quega. The actual boss and not the extra one we sorta made. We have a few turns if we leave him alone,

Everyone at the chimera, look out the dragon head is about to unleash a breath attack, we theorized that it has a ranged of 5 squares. So if it doesn't move then the breath will hit the following area. The tiles marked with "W" are theoretically wall tiles but I got no confirmation yet.

Rabata is will die next turn if she is not healed so I will have to heal her but I can't move in because I am too far away. All of you there please consider moving out of the breath range as a priority.
>>
>>45739224
Allright, I'll move into the moblins then and spinslash.
>>
If the turn ends before I can post, then just shoot the harpy bugger and reload the truesilver if you want me on Jenny. Or the heavy metal so I can kill the Castors.

I'll point out that the harpies Scythe seems to take damage could be a way forward for physical classes if this next volley + mage stuff doesn't... Banish it? What happens to ghosts when they 'die'
>>
Don't bother shooting the Ghost Harpy.

Let Velen bind it, and help him become able to do so. It's hovering over the edge of the crater and it was summoned once already. So just get him there and he can bust out the chalk and get himself a giant evil harpy for the Summoner Squad.
>>
>>45740241
Hey boss.
Should I bother moving back towards Jenny or provide support to boss-kill team?
So far all I can do is move but my gun is loaded.
>>

Ah see, this is how I see it.

The harpy, is right in front of me, and not in front of Velen, and you want me to not kill it for Velen's sake whilst it is right in front of me.

And when people shouted at me to kill it right now before it killed people, you want me to /not/ kill it now?

I wish people would make up their bloody minds but I'll make up mine for you.

Blow that for a game of soldiers kill it and be done with it.

Can it spends its action to go down and move?

>>45740462
Technically, Sarge, it's more in front of Velen than it is in front of you, Sir! I didn't know we were operating on a front-based priority system! If that's the manner in which we delegate operational tasks, Velen takes precedence as he is frontier than you, Sir!

If it's too much bother we can just blow it away! I just figured binding the creature would be just as well. I believe blowing it out of the sky with a In Tandem BallBallBallBall was Velen's original frontal based plan, Sir! Rendering your shooting useless, Sir!

Which is just as well, sir, since Velen is frontier than you and so takes front-based precedence, Sir!

I was just offering suggestions, Sir!

You can join in at any time action phase is running. Currently the fights is either at the Hunter Fort to the west, or in the underground levels to the east.

If you see 'Action Phase' generally you can deploy at any time. You can only start as one of the central six classes, Knight, Guide, Rogue, Militia, Mage, or Hunter, but after completing a floor you can then advance based on the options available to your class, or you can remain in that class to get access to additional skills or even Adept skills of that class. Militia doesn't have as many options yet but we're working on it I'm sure we'll have another one soon, and Adept Quemists get robot arms anyways why wouldn't you want that.

While I'm not that interested in either class, I will say that not having the option to give another player a second chance at playing their character is some what harsh. Reversals will NOT always be usable and we can end up having stupid deaths like Kaz and Bucher. "because their monsters" is a pretty selfish reason for taking a choice that would deny someone the ability to continue their character.

Well, generally people didn't get a second chance period you know? Compared to the usual games Monday runs, this iteration of Floors seems particularly soft.

>>45744576

Answer to what?
>>
>>45744466

But "they're monsters" is the entire reason and purpose for this whole thing.

They are a species that literally cannot survive without parasitic living off of other living things, once upon a time the Order before they came an order literally created an entire group of murder-hobos specifically for that race.

People in universe /haaaaaate/ Midians, and even other Midians hate Feral-Midians siring other midians.

Remember that time two adept hunters totally fucking schooled us until we literally nuked them from existance? Because we had summoners?

An entire clan of Midians, Summoners and Ghouls is going to paint a huge fucking target on our faces.

And this is without floating the possibility that there are /other/ means of reviving people other then Midian-ship and reversals, like Volgon Scifax.

Reversals are being nerfed after this floor, actually. They will cost a full turn from the Terminus Clock, bringing the Mal closer for the whole team. So yeah, reversals are gonna be harsher in future. They still are potentially going to be worth it sometimes though, between Dilate and Sacred Geometry.

We already have Ghouls in our ranks. What's so different with having more monsters? I mean, look at those recruit kids we took on. I don't even know what half of them are, and the single human is being handled by Zeig!

Besides, some people have expressed playing as nonhumans. We add Vampyres to our list, and we can be some kind of freak team of monsters following the orders of a dragon.

Actually, that sounds rather normal, doesn't it?

>>45744918
>>45744939

They ought to be counted, even if they aren't hunters. What's stopping them from rolling a hunter if/when they die? What's stopping anyone from rolling a secondary character that they alternate with the first, so that when the first bites it, they don't *technically* need to start over.
>>
>>45745079
to be fair I have no idea what's going on 90% of the time
>>
>>45745096
Okay, let me break this down why it's different from Ghouls.

Ghouls have fewer weaknesses, they do not need as much specilized equipment simply to survive. Every vampire we get will need to have darc armor made, or fused, and supplied to them. That takes money and time as well as resources lost to bad fusions.

Vampires also require a constant source of blood. Either the blood sauce (maybe?) 1220z every floor, just so they never have to feed on a fellow runner or risk that there'll not be any humans/mutant-humans on a floor. Finally, Midians take damage from any form of healing, rendering our Guides and other healing based classes useless for assisting them. It might even be that they take damage from Darc unlike Ghouls, making it so they can ONLY heal by feeding (We don't know this, but it's a serious possibility given their traits).

We are already seen as closely aligned with the House of M, we risk seriously alienating the Skyward Order and probably the Volgons and the Shiriya Clinic as well if we continue down this path.

That means no more guide and knights, and likely cutting off our supply if Militia and Hunters as well.

Further, it will mean more people hunting us, more bounties taken out on members of our group, etc.

All of these are the reasons why increasing our supply of Midians is a BAD FUCKING IDEA.

>They ought to be counted, even if they aren't hunters. What's stopping them from rolling a hunter if/when they die? What's stopping anyone from rolling a secondary character that they alternate with the first, so that when the first bites it, they don't *technically* need to start over.
Then we might as well open it up to a full general vote rather than just the hunters and midians.
>>
>>45744872
Also forgot to say this before. Thank you Kaz. My last vote sounded unappreciative, I just don't want to be seen as changing my stance just because you voted in my advantage.
>>
>>45745226

Or the midians can gitgud and play without darc armor.

>Also in a meta sense I almost guarantee we won't lose base classes due to choosing one advance class over another
>>
>>45745306
No, it's because of a lot of things BEYOND this. This is just the final thumb in the eye that I see.

1) We dicked over the order before and had demons summoned, their leader killed by them, and they don't share vision with us, so who knows if that Slayer even saw what was going on with the summoner kid
2) The order had deacon already running about bad mouthing us, so they're already not liking us
3) Demons are almost on the stairs and we've done jack all to stop them from getting there.
4) We already have made buddy buddy with the House of M and are the only humans allowed into the Understairs... which is not going to endear them to us.
5) Saying that we're going to go full power mad and rez our folks frequently like we did you Kaz is just asking for them to withdraw all support from us. Especially since we're depending on Alistair to tell the order the truth of what happened here tonight (EG: we didn't bring the demons, it was another summoner)
>>
Well in any case it might be a good idea to start thinking about how to deal with 4-5 midians in the group besides killing them.

logistically they don't have to deploy until dusk and we can keep corpses stashed or something.

Also isn't that like one of the lower run leaders in the Order? Not the head honcho?
>>
>>45745380
Who cares if it was a lower down member, if the general population believes the info he's feeding them, then they can just refuse us service and the head honcho will never hear about it.

Oh, and let's not go into the fact that the majority of the party is leaning towards taking up Alistair's offer as well, so that should weight in on this discussion as well.
>>
Hetros you are magnifying the effect of us picking Vampyre over Viscount to an absurd degree. The only one effected by this choice is going to be Alistair.
>>
>>45745226

>Every vampire we get will need to have darc armor made, or fused, and supplied to them
Only if they insist on running around in the sun. It's entirely possible to hide a midian in an iron maiden.

That's the risk that they'll be taking when they decide to become a midian, same as what Zeig took when he became a ghoul. Also, paying for food/blood - the rest of us do the same, except it's equipment. For them, it's the price of an extra action and the ability to walk through walls.

>That means no more guide and knights, and likely cutting off our supply if Militia and Hunters as well.
That is retarded. Base classes don't actually come from those groups. If anything, you can say that those groups are associated with specific base classes.

>Further, it will mean more people hunting us, more bounties taken out on members of our group, etc
We already have Summoners, Ghouls, and killed off a Volgon hit team, and associated ourselves with a Law Dragon, which, by itself, has probably earned us enemies.

>Then we might as well open it up to a full general vote rather than just the hunters and midians.
Why don't we? If I was still playing a hunter, I'd be more than happy to become a midian, thanks to the sheer amount of shenanigans they can get into. But I'm rolling a militiaman, and the statblock doesn't quite complement my current skillset.
>>
>>45745348

>In a meta sense, there are plenty of roleplay excuses for our group to get base classes even without the cooperation of the major factions. It would make zero sense to remove /base/ classes from player options due to a story decision, without some alternative being put in place. The class you would lose would be access to viscount (and possibly paladin?).

Then by your logic, we should be worried about the Volgons taking away our ability to roll militia, and by your admission, we're already falling onto the bad side of the order.

Furthermore, we raided a schola library.

By your own logic, we should have already lost our ability to roll militia, guides, knights, and maybe even mages.

And yet, that hasn't happened.

And it won't. Because having to redesign core classes just because we picked one advanced class over another is retarded.

If anything, I want to support having midians and monsters even more just to see it happen.
>>
>>45746924
Those are all SMALL Things. Single incidents

This is one of a large clusterfuck of things all piling into one another. We are trying to act as a neutral party between the House of M and the Order.

We can't do that, we can't prevent the war, or at least not without significantly more difficulty, if we make it even further.

Also you realize Monday's doing this -entire- thing to test out a game system and has a bunch of other classes in the wings? It really makes no nevermind to him if we fuck up party composition, he can self correct later, and until then, hey! He gets to see what happens to a party that can't replenish one of it's base classes!
>>
>>45747301

Really? I could've sworn that Monday runs this - and the past, what, three or four iterations? - because he enjoys it for some insane reason.

Besides, party composition isn't up to Monday; players pick their classes, Monday doesn't step in and say, "no, we have too many knights, go play guide instead."

And you know what? Why don't we? Let's see if we can lose our base classes by pissing off one of the factions. Nevermind such a thing would go against the actual damn lore of the whole setting.

Just admit it, like you did in the "chats," that you're so against this because you just don't like vampires. It would be easier if you just dropped any pretenses of this being lore-related, and simply go "I like the shiny tricks that Crowley did more than what Viktor did."

Those same arguments that you bring up in chat would be much more useful here, where the other players are, instead of insisting that by picking one advanced class over another, that we'll magically be unable to pick guides.

And if we lose guides? Well, then we'll either get a replacement or we won't.

And going by your logic on why only you and a select few others should only have a voice in the vampire/viscount choice, seeing as you already have an established character, it doesn't matter to you if the choices of future players are altered.

tl;dr Allistair already agreed to Jackie's terms, making a lot of this moot.

Sorry, but it's both true and it sucks at the same time.

Guides and their derivatives are the load stone, the cornerstone of the party, the core of it. Without you guys, we couldn't do shit with how this game is set up.

At the same time, out of everybody you're the ones who need the least tweaking except maybe for mages? Mages got lots of tweaks to make them more balanced, Guides barely need those now that they've been given more options with what they can do with pulses.

The suckiest part about all of this, is that for you guys to get the same awesome fucking screen time folks like Jenny or Burk or Jackie gets, requires for things to have REALLY gone wrong and the rest of us to have fucked up our jobs so royally that the healers have more to do than just HP maintenance to keep us in fighting condition.

I don't know how to fix that... to make guides able to have more cool awesome screen time... though it would be nice if we ran into more guide-like enemies and got you guys some more loot stuff you could use. Guide stuff drops once in a blue moon.

>>

>>45763885
>>45763846
But is not really Rabbits-own hands doing the work. Is Special Chi Technique from Lady Aya. Is Special Breath Technique from Lady Florian-Veritas. Rabbit self has only-truely with own sweat-blood-effort thrown dagger at Mobolins-Skellytons and stabbed Gourd. So is really credit to Hidden Forest and Starlight Lux.

Is Truth Without Bias that Lady Spinnenny is much better fighter than Rabbits. And also
prettier. And Kail-fist Kail-Krunched giant stomping Castor. Also won duel against Big-Large-Huge Goldjoy. Rabbits could never do that.
>>
>>45764204
That's like saying Jenny's spin slash isn't her. It's her techniques taught to her by Harpoon/Ishmael.
>>
>>45763713
>I don't know how to fix that... to make guides able to have more cool awesome screen time
You can't, or at least I don't think you can. It's exactly what you said, if we are doing our jobs right nobody notices us. When everyone else is doing their jobs our jobs are easy enough to go pretty much unnoticed. It's just the way the job works, it's fine.

>Guide stuff drops once in a blue moon.
Yeah, but we can do our job well even with the starter gear so it's alright

1 - No
2 - No
3 - See attached
4 - It's much much better to join in and then ask questons as you go along than to watch at the sidelines and attempt to synergize all available permutations, because the amount of information is easily overwhelming once you look at every single bit of it. If instead you pick a single class and a single place to spawn, your world automatically narrows down to the 2 skills you start with and your immediate 6-9 square area. Then you can simply learn the game as is by osmosis.

There are quite a few, but the basics to play are in there. If you are uncertain about anything (and you probably will about many things) just ask it in chat.

I tried to figure it out after I joined but I'm still vague on most of it. I'm starting to suspect nobody actually knows the entire lore
We're basically climbing a cosmic tower of parallel universes, running away from an all-consuming darkness call the Malbolgia. Lot's of kingdoms fell, a few orders still remain, some towns live in a safe state of time-limbo because of magic crystals and we are currently chasing a whale that eats those crystals. Something about a dragon pact and summoning being illegal, lot's of side characters who are mostly total bro's... No you don't need to know it.

Hi. I'm a dog. I will be your shouty sergeant for the next few minutes.

LOOK TO YOUR LEFT
THAT IS THE ONE PAGE RULES
THE ONE PAGE RULES CONTAINS 75% OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.

OTHER INFORMATION IS CONTAINED UPON OUR CLASS CARD, WHICH SPECIFICALLY TELLS YOU HOW YOUR SKILLS AND YOUR ACTIONS MAY BE USED.
Ahem. Now that I have done the cliché shouting sergeant trope, I shall endeveaour to be informative and friendly from this point on.

This is FLOORS, a SKIRMISH WARGAME played on /TG. You pick a class, and a name and a trip - and you fill out your handy nametag like you can see I have. It currently says -I Trigger. So I - Trigger - is an [I]; a militia. If there was a giant map full of MONSTERS I would have a number, and I would be the militia on the map with that number ON THEIR HEAD.

For instance, I might be I2 Trigger.

Then on the map to avoid being MURDERED BY MONSTERS I would do actions. I would have as many action as the tiny lightning symbol, my ACT stat. I would type these actions out during an action phase.

>Move Direction Direction Direction
>Shoot Enemy.

I would also have a LARGE STAT CARD.

It would look like this:

>==Status: Fed+Happy==
>HP: 5/5 Mov: 4 Str: 1, Atk 4
>Def: 1+1 Mag: 1 Act: 2
>BR-02, 5 rng, 2x2shot ammo, +3 atk bayonet
>Sgt. Uniform (+1 def/hp/mov)
>Iron Drop (4AP Dmg): x9
>Happy B-day (4 crush 5aoe) x19
>Pumpkin rounds (6 fire) x4
>(3x InstantCoffee+ 3x Llama Water), 4x Sleep >Bomb (4square),
>[I]Firing Solution, Spreadshot, Friendly Fire, >Packed Shot, Battle Rythm.
>[Ker] Dig, Scent, Beast Talk
>Load: 2x2 Dumbo-round, 6 dmg, heavy >knockback, square AoE

Notice how I have LOTS OF WORDS and WIERD SYMBOLS. Surviving 3 games have accumulated DANGEROUS EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE.

CRIPPLING EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE aside, starting new character is easy.

You simply pick a class and you
>deploy
next to someone who is NOT CURRENTLY DYING OR FIGHTING. Then you are on the map and you will soon be one of the people DYING OR FIGHTING.

It really is that simple.

There are some nuances depending on your class. As a new character, you can pick the 6 Basic Classes. A rogue, a hunter, a knight, a militia (YES), a mage (NO) or a guide.

Function wise, it can be said that
Rogues are TRICKY and FAST
Hunters are LETHAL and SUPPORTIVE
Knights are STRONG and LETHAL
Miltias are AWESOME and AWESOME
Mages are DANGEROUS and DANGEROUS
Guides are SUPPORTIVE and MULTIPLICATIVE

So there is a split between finding the enemy and making the enemy easier to damage, damaing the enemy and keeping your friends alive.

You pick the sort of job that appeals to you.

Knights are strong (look at that 5 total DEF and 5 HP), and keep people alive - but they are slow (3 move and 2 acts).

Rogues are fast and deadly (2 atk and 3 acts! 3 move and 3 acts) but are also fragile as DELICATE CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN THE SPRING (1 def 4 hp).

As you then play with your class, you accumulate MORE GEAR like how I have a >>45766930
BR02 DEMON BATTLERIFLE that fires 2 BULLETS and has 4 AMMO and 5 RANGE as opposed to a starting militia blunderbuss with its 1 AMMO and 4 RANGE.

You also accumulate more skills, which can change how you play or what you can do and allow some neat little synergies.

For instance - >>45749316 - Jenny here is a SLAYER who can FLY because of a shield. So as a slayer gets Drop Attack she can fly on top of enemies and drop on them. She is also a DEMON but that's UNRELATED.

So you just pick a class, you pick a place to spawn, and during ACTION PHASES you do your acts, co-ordinate with your team and try to live another glorious day. You likely won't and will die terrribly. There is a 46 % casuality rate so far and it will ONLY KEEP RISING.

QUESTIONS.
>>
>>45767090
>DEMON but that's UNRELATED

Fantasy races have no statistical benefit? Or new players don't worry about that shit?

Where is the thread in which play is done? I looked and couldn't find one other than this one.

Also how much time commitment is there to playing this? I assume you can't come and go as you please.

Still reading through the google docs and associated helpful graphics.
>>
>>45767090
Yes sir, how do I get better at avoiding dying?
Oh right, never run on the floor of course!
Silly me!
>>
>>45767090
Also how do you unlock the non-Basic Classes?
>>
>>45767208
Races have benefits, for instance my friend/boss, Trigger, here is a Kerbold and gets a nifty scent and dig ability among other things which I do not know.

Jenny on the other hand, has now absorbed a demon and gained some stats boosts at the costs of the demon lingering within her, waiting.

Velen and some others have also been ghouled and thus take more damage from Pyras and other things and is also healed by Darc magic

The thread is on pause, Monday's the only one drawing this up.

You can commit whatever time you want as you may withdraw from a floor whenever you want.

The party leader Jackie shall bot you if you are unable to act within a phase. It's recommended not to have half the players become bots for Jackie.

GOOD QUESTION SOON-TO-BE-ROOKIE-NEW-GUY.

Fantasy races have ENOURMOUS STATISTICAL BENEFIT. It is also why I specified that I AM A DOG. As a Kerbold, I get +stats.

But to achieve this I had to accidentally wander through a hellish portal to the quagmire realm of Hel itself, spend 4 months as an interdimensional refuge and finally get summoned back home in a ritual that was most likely as heretical as it was costly for all involved.

To BOND with her DEMON Jenny there had to PUNCH AN ELDER GOD IN THE FACE, then get blasted with arcane eldritch knowledge, then have a WRESTLING MATCH WITH A DEMONIC ENTITY BENT ON CONTROLLING HER SOUL.
All that sort of stuff takes a very long time, and I therefore suggest JUST NOT WORRYING ABOUT IT because it really won't come up unless you do some damn fool thing like BARGAIN WITH DEMONS or WANDER INTO OTHER DIMENSIONS.

>>45767279
You spawn as BASIC CLASS with 2 SKILLS. And then, ROOKIE, you STAY THE HELL ALIVE for an entire Floor, which is 1 game of 2-3 threads. If you are ALIVE at the end - and you'd better be or I will be right cross with you - you get +1 level and +1 skill.

See how you start with 2 skills as a new rookie? You can now get 3 skills. Or you can LEVEL UP into an ADVANCE CLASS and get THOSE SKILLS. Truly amazing! But of course then you'd only have 2 basic skills! It's a tradeoff+patience situation!

>>45767224
Stay in cover! Lie low! Drink Llama Water! Clean your gun! Stick behind the knights!

>>45767208
TIME COMMITMENT:
Action Phases are currently SLOW BURN and resolve approximately ever 12-24 hours. So TIME COMMITMENT is literally "any time you can post within that span of time". It should be easy enough to fit into a schedule.

LAST GAME THREAD WAS HERE: >>45721378

and concluded yesterday. Game is currently updating the results of Jenny's WRESTLING MATCH WITH A DEMON, and will likely resume sometime before this thread dies.
>>
>>45767279
After you complete a floor without dying horribly (which is difficult), you gain a level. You can either take another skill in your Base Class, or take a level in one of the corresponding Advance Classes. There are three Advance Classes per Base Class, one shared with each class either side of it and one solely for that class. For more information:

This isn't true. You'd have only 3 basic skills.

Advancing to an Advanced Class will always give you a new ability. It's the only way to get 2 skills at once when you level up that doesn't cost you anything or involve rare spawning crystal corridor locations.
>>
>>45767704
You should add that the laws do not apply to those who have broken them. If somebody has harmed you, you get to harm them right back.
>>
Basically your class can fit into multiple roles, they're flexible like that, but you do still have some boundaries. Squishy classes should avoid advancing too far into fog of war. Going solo usually involves death, Area of Effects hit allies unless otherwise stated, same with line attacks (like guns).
>>
>>45768332
No, you'd level up into the advance class and you'd pick 1 skill for becoming the advanced class and 1 skill for surviving a floor. So if you levelled up and got those skills, you'd only have 2 basic class skills - you'd be locked into using the other 2 skills for advance class.

I thought that was obvious from the sentence, but I suppose it was more implied than directly stated. My bad.

Let's clarify:

You start as lvl 1 basic class 2 skills.

Upon surviving a floor you get +1 skill and +1 level. You can use that 1 skill to get 1 more basic class skill.

You could then move into an advance class (the ones near your class on the chart). Moving into an advance class gets you 1 advance skill via doing the training to become one.

So after surving 1 floor, your choices are:

3 Basic Skills (
>2 + 1 from floor)
3 Basic Skill, 1 Advance Skill
>2 + 1 from floor, then 1 from advance training
2 Basic, 2 Advance
>2 + 1 from training + 1 for floor survival.

>>45768350
I don't go in for that all swearing me immortal soul to the whim of some vast and unusual dragon what rules the nebolous and curious realms. I'd feel uncomfortable making adjustments to the description that aren't neccessarily implied in the actual Pact. The only thing I know for sure is that those are the laws and you have to obey them. What obeying them actually means I have no clue.

For instance, I have no idea why laws don't apply to those who break them. From the outside, I would assume fairness without exclusion would specifically prohibit exactly that. Else it... quite literally would not be fairness without exclusion. If you exclude someone just because they don't follow your laws you're literally breaking your own laws.

But apparently Lux Pacters can do that? Or not?

I'm a humble dog soldier, dear anon. I don't want to get involved in the metaphysics of Elder Dragon Magic. Guns and grit is good enough for me.

If there's something like this for the other classes, it'd be cool to read.
>>
>>45772238
not yet.

Honestly, if you can't decide? Roll a die for it. Or just go with the one that'll give you the coolest shit to combine with your favored advanced class.
>>
>>45772238
Sorry, I only ever made the one. I could make some more but I sort of just realized it's often the same people playing from game to game and we don't reroll characters super often, so it seemed useless than in other types of game like this.

Anyway, to answer your other question about redunant in function - don't worry about it. People drop in, drop out, get shot, die, so on; so it's fine to be a few of one class.

Going by the numbers in the last thread we ended up with M6 which means 6 mages. i6 was also spawned but El Capitan died a terrible death and I miss that moustachioed-rookie something fierce, so there are currently 5 militia on the map.

That's 6 mages, 5 militia, 4 knights, 3 guides, 4 hunters and... 3 rogues? Some of them died, I lost track. It's around 3. So just pick whatever you like. It's really fine to do so.
>>
Base Classes
2 Guides + 1 NPC Guide
5 Mages + 1 NPC Mage
4 Rogues + 2 NPC Rogues
4 Knights + 3 NPC Knights
3 Hunters + 1 NPC Hunter

Advanced (base in brackets)
1 Slayer (Knight)
2 Editors (Mage)
2 Navigators (Guide)
1 Scholar (Guide)
1 Ghoul (Rogue)
1 Alquemist (Mage)

>>45772323
Verbel is now a wisp. I believe he still counts as a rogue however.
>>
>>45772344
I figured being dead disqualified him. Nice tally boss.

You, err, ahem, err, managed to miss the glorious and well served Militia core. We've only been the thin Volga line holding the Wyrd Hunt together for five floors now. I'm not hurt or insulted.

But boss? I am disappointed.

>Base Classes: Volga Militia Expedition
Isaac Ispie - Long Range Sniper
Watchful - Gunner and Lux Pact
Burkhard - Sergeant and Machine Gunner
Trigger - Literally A Dog Soldier
Dakka - ROOKIE FIRST CLASS
That's 5 Militia!

MIA:
Malza Failure - He got a job in a bar and decided to keep working in Luxendarc!
ROOKIE FIRST CLASS Kilroy - He disappeared. I hope he's okay, where-ever he is.

Honorable Militia Fallen:

El Capitan, Moustache-Kid - Crushed by a Castor
Buck - Blown Up
Conscript Pinpoint - Gnawed to death by bugs
Tactis - Crushed by a giant pumpkin

I'm hoping to join next game, is there a way to track when its going to be posted? And then I should just post my character in the start of the thread? will I be able to play during that round or will I have to wait till next round?

There is background lore for the basic classes even tough knowing them is not required to start playing.

Let me post them in case nobody else bothered to save it.

Apparently I have a pretty shoddy memory if I'm skipping over 6 people entirely.

Sorry, I missed this one - Short answer; no. There... isn't. We tend to link threads, and often you get many in succession that link each other.

Hey. Hey Kaz. Hey Kaz. Heyhey, hey, Hey Kaz. You know what I can do that you can't?
Go kill someone who looks at me funny while they're standing outside on a sunny day.

Always got room! Always welcome. Next phase is a bit tricky - one turn was just resolved, so that'll play out, then there'll be a dungeon phase, and /then/ you could deploy.

Give it a bit, and just ctrl+f "floors" occassionally, the actual game threads are all named "floors - somethingsomethingsomething"
>>
>>45772891
Gotchya. Wish I could just jump in, but I get it.

I'll be ready when the time comes, though.
How do I let the DM know I'm interested?

Not true. We have monday's tumblr where he tends to post new threads.

You will write
>deploy next to [person]

I suggest deploying near Khya. Cove is near a boss and we need to kill it.

In your trip put [I*] before your name

If you saw the guide copy and paste the stats template and fill it out. Deploying takes a turn so you would effectively play in 12 hours. I'm likely wrong about some things so wait for more instructions.

Also don't worry about not knowing what is going on. You slowly gets the hang of it and there are like 5 other noobies that joined this floor.

It's going to be awesome ! We'll talk swords, and spar, and will destroy our enemies !

>I suggest deploying near Khya. Cove is near a boss and we need to kill it.
I moved out of the central room, so for a Militia I am pretty far from where the fight will be. [I6]Dakka is a good deployment target and fellow Militia to deploy next to.

>If you saw the guide copy and paste the stats template and fill it out
Here is a good one to copy, make sure to change the obvious parts.

>>
>>45775267
I am still very sorry for consigning you in to the Pitch with that spell.
>>
>>45775291
Well you tossed me into the Pitch outside Time and Space with only a nebolously monstrous Outsider called Yig for company. And I should be upset that I spent months in Hel, running from Hel demons and the screaming yawning abyss.

And I suppose I should be upset that you all got together and got me back and, then, at the finish line, you bungled the delivery shot and I am now a dog.

Oh and somehow you've lost my giant flaming SMOULDERING GUN.

I should be upset, but dammit, you all worked together and rescued me. So in my book you've all gone and made up for your first mistake! Just please, boss. No more sending me into weird dimensions.
>>
>>45775362
No promises.

As for your gun, try talking to the Llama. He has been good about recovering items lost due to accidents. It'll cost you some zenni. But what doesn't these days?
>>
>>45775362

Err, your cousin Tactis picked it up from the bank back in luxendarc to combine with something. And died.

I'm sorry
>>

Rabbitspaw thinks its different. Spinenny spins with spear and slays like Slayer.

Is still her-Jenny using spear and own trick. Was Spear or Sword that killed! So, corpses.

Rabbitspaw picks up knife and throws it straight-true, and then makes it explode. Is-was not knife that killed, was explosion. Knife was just-simply little carrier for Chi-Magic. Did not really stab-throw-slash to learn dagger-use. So Rabbitspaw feels this is important difference for purpose of Runner Survey.

Does the new guide "reset" any defined spells?

Or are you just clarifying some thing for us?
