This is a thread purpose built and finely crafted to start putting the finishing touches on /tg/'s own Chinese Cyberpunk Guardsmen, the 1st Hua Yuan Exterminators.

Try not to add to much new stuff as possible, unless it's necessary to reconcile or clarify old stuff. Here's the wiki and target for the thread,
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Hua_Yuan_Exterminators
And the one for the World,
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Hua_Yuan

And, by the grace of the Emperor, all the previous threads,
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=hua+yuan

We're reaching a finished product, but we have to move stuff from the Archives to the Wiki.
>>
>>45786331
Threads will be everyother day around this time until we are done and satisfied.

As per usual, some discussion starters.

I'd say nay. No need to be tryhards about how "totally awesome and cool" our OC is, just let what we've made stand on its own merits.

There was this one anon that would post pictures of China and fucked up urban environments with precise and succinct answers to the above questions. They need to get onto their.

Just subtle cultural stuff, the little things, especially with the Regiments.

Updated numbers, the new and improved histories, doctrinal data, stuff like that.

Stuff that already exists basically, but I'm too shit to add onto the wiki without major consequences.

It would have its own SDF, but I think a larger Imperial Navy presence would be provided by the Praetorians.

Think in real world terms like some junks to provide basic defense, and 18th century sailing ships that can go up to similar designs owned by most world powers.

Also, just so we're clear - the 5th Scouting Division is mechanized, right? Sentinels, Salamanders, Tauros, that sort of thing.
>>

If you can link me To the posts I'll add all of it and then some

>>45787614
They where the guys that operate within Hua Yuan, right? Well in certain areas armour is going to be useless without serious collateral to make way or make room. In those situations I think rappelling and free-running is going to be king.

A wheeled Taurox variant and bikes like the Recon units might not be bad though.

I'm thinking it might be slow is all as well.
The Hua Yuan Exterminators interest me, I'll take a look at the wiki pages for them.

I can present what I've got if anyone's interested, but it's gonna be a couple pretty big posts when it's done

also, this needs to get added to the 13th somewhere
>>
>>45789067
The Hive of Hua Yuan itself began to change the Exterminators, proud of their heritage and the conflict that forged the regiment, they adorn themselves with trophies of the mutated tyranid monstrosities who still sometimes appear the in the bowels of the mines below the hive. The mines themselves are slowing becoming more and more crowded as a population explosion brought on by the arrival and subsequent official imperial support for the exterminators has crowded the hive to the breaking point. People now live in the mines themselves and the "underhive" is a constant battleground between gangs, the policing companies of the regiment, and occasional re-emergent genestealer cults.

Due to the near-perpetual darkness of this area and teh hive itself, punctuated only by the bright neon and noble gas signs that are found in abundance due to the saturated atmosphere of the planet. The regiments have adapted to this painting their armour in garish colours and using bright lights and disorienting tactics to stay one step ahead of their enemies, who often have the home-field advantage deep in the bowels of the mines.

ON the first thread I talked about using Thick smoke, Flash-bangs, Fireworks and Paint to turn Hives into a little slice of home.

I also spoke about how through all of this fanfair and Shock-and-Daze tactics, The soldiers are stoic and Determined. Treating it as SSDD as possible rather than reveling in it. I haven't seen much talk about that facet as of yet and wanted to discuss it; How stoked are our men to be using the Colors and Mayham Approach? I want to avoid glee or joy, as that could be a bit to close to slaneshi,
>>

>CONT

There's always blacklight paint and ink. It looks normal in daylight, but shines fluorescently under UV
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacklight_paint

That way you could have regular-ish looking fatigues that don't annoy the commisariat but pop into neon cyberpunk nightmare tribal patterns in hive-country.

As a side note, the Administratum generally hates it when non-Garrison worlds hold onto their IG regiments (hence PDFs). Most deliberately move them as far away from the homeworld as is feasible so that they don't get too attached to their homeworld rather than doing their duty for the wider Imperium, and IG regiments are usually part of the Imperial tithe. If you wanted a higher than normal amount of IG on the planet, perhaps you could have the PDF constantly cycling into the Guard proper rather than being a separate force - people are recruited into the PDF, train, when the regiments are called up the PDF are put forward first before the rest of the population pool.

WOuld it be possible to have our Boys using Multicolored Smoke-bombs and Paint bombs in combat to allow their colors to fit in off planet?

I'm thinnking that they are so used to choked enviorments that they fight in the smoke like others fight in the open air, and perhaps use 'Paint shells' in bassalisks to blanket an area they are to guard in their colors, to disorent, draw attention and camouflage If that could work?
>>
>>45790123
Hello, inventor of the Razorgirls here.

Can uh, it be changed?
>>
>>45790205
I could work on something, I guess

I'd really like work more on writing than flagmaking right now but I can get around to it

what did you have in mind?
>>
>>45789976
Shit. Yeah my bad
>>
>>45790236
The 13 put in a more 40k script, for starters, then have skulls on the leaves but point the teeth at the bird skull.

As for colors have the skull be green , the floor pink, the skulls on the leaves orange and the Razor be green with black stripes to show that it's shiney.

Am I making sense?
>>
>What other special wargear do Hua Yuan Regiments have that we need to make note of?

Checked wiki, ploughed through archives. Standard Kit needs work.

Use of fireworks and coloured smoke seems to have remained canon but isn't mentioned in unique equipment or their kit, blinkers aren't in their kit either.

Las Uzi from thread 6 needs a write up as well as an alternative to the lascarbine. Being HY grade or not isn't mentioned in kit.

They originally had a history of war trophies, we've emphasised Tyranid trophies but haven't ruled out other trophies, taking weapons from dead enemies and keeping them as regiment "relics" was mentioned in thread 1 but isn't on the wiki.

We've mentioned their use of rappel lines, this should get a mention and be added to their kit.

Also, we've got the Hua Yuan Exterminators page covering all the regiments and their idiosyncrasies, there should probably be one page thats generally for the Hua Yuanese military and one for each regiment or regiment type, it's rather crowded.
>>
>>45790443
Not it.

I suck.
>>
>>45790333
yeah, I'll see how that looks

but like I said, I'm gonna keep working on writing for a bit

>Las Uzi from thread 6 needs a write up as well as an alternative to the lascarbine. Being HY grade or not isn't mentioned in kit.
Stat anon statted it up in one of the threads, and there was a minor write up if I remember right

I think the crowdedness is because of a lack of organization, anon
>>
>>45790443
So neon jet packs was retarded, but I just got done playing titanfall.

>All lasguns have a variable power setting.
>Regular As per stat block
>Overcharge +1 dmg, Double ammo consumed per shot.
>Overload +2 damage +2 Penetration, >Quadruple ammo consumed per shot.

>Well as i understand it, all lasweapons are semi automatic and that automatic fire would destroy their barrels too fast. Even hotshot lasguns.

>The only las weapon that's fully automatic is the multi-laser that has multiple barrels.

>So This Las-uzi would have two/three barrels that alternate shots so it doesn't melt from the sheer rate of fire you put out.

>(This is just looking at Darkhersy/only war statblocks. so i could be wrong.)
>>
>>45790205
Now i wouldn't nessiarlly call you the inventor. I made the stats before any fluff came out.
>>
>>45790723
Fair enough. Do you agree with
>>45790333
At least?
>>
>>45790699
>Certain members of the guard found that more traditional las-weapons weren't quite suited to the task at hand, and resorted to a more homebrewed reciepe. The las-compact submachine pistol was a signiture of the gangs and mechanius of Hua Yuan, its compact nature and high rate of fire are well suited to the cramped and narrow home it was born in. Its shot-count seems to varry per chargepack, but is otherwise reliable for something so niche.

That's what I got so far. Any thoughts?
>>
>>45790776
Sounds good to me, it feels leagues better than it was in its initial stages.

>>45790699
The Las-uzi had the same basic stat block for the Auto pistol with a few changes.

30 shot magazine, Energy damage, and the Overheats quality.

---------
There's also the Hua Yuan Shotlas

Which has the same stats as the Combat Shotgun, But has the The reduced weight, and Corrupted Pattern Variant Pattern rules. Also it does energy and not impact. but that's a given.
>>

The 1st Hua Yuan Exterminators is a smaller Hua Yuan Regiment, even amongst other Exterminators units. They supplement this smaller size with highly specialized companies composed of highly skilled experts and with the support of other Regiments. The 1st has [X] companies.

The 1st Hua Yuan Exterminators company structure is thus, all nicknamed after legendary or otherwise mythic creatures supposedly existing in Terra or significant cultural facets in Hua Yuan;

>Infantry- The famed Hua Yuan urban fighters, light infantry, unique wargear
>Mechanized- Light Armour and small mobile artillery, used to hold strategic positions or support Infantry with transportation or fire. Some specialize in Mounted Recon and act as QRF's within the Hive battlefield
>Logistic- Support units that aide the complicated and finely tuned war engine engine that is the Exterminators
>Specialized- A spare few companies that don't fit into the others and are purpose built for a single task or battlefield role.

>Alpha/Alligator Company-Infantry, experts for "swamp" fighting, aka sewer fighting.

>Bravo/Bull Company-Mechanized, tank company composed of chimeras and salamanders. Used to cordon off areas and set up killzones for infantry squads to operate within
>>

Alright, history for what. The planet itself is pretty well covered, historically speaking, I think

I fucking hate bumping threads, but don't let this one die out. I promise to god I'll do all I can tomorrow to fuck this shit up once and for all

Oh no it definitely is. It's just a matter of putting it on the wiki, and there's a decent amount of conflicting lore between threads

I think dates are really it. The narrative of mining colony ship crashing on barren moon, isolated by warp storm, discovered by praetorians and farmed for men is settled. We just need minor details and dates
>>
>>45808954
That can be worked out in the Talk page.

Gangs and Noble Houses. He have the Imperial presence fairly well figured out, but everyone is pussyfooting when it comes to defining the big players, which is what a ttrpg needs, leaving room for GMs to make their own

The Praetorians may own the planet, but it is the noble families of Hua Yuan that truly rule the planet, divided though they be. The vast majority of noble houses are descendants from the original crew and important personnel of the Hua Yuan, who took up leadership roles after they were crash landed and stranded on their moon. Although none of the original crew of the vessel could boast of noble blood, their control of the space and resources present on the ship ensured their importance. As a result, the descendants of those initial de facto leaders are still performing the same tasks as their ancestors, but on a much much larger scale. Through introduction of Imperials, hundreds of years of marriages and alliances, and praetorian interference, there are considerably more noble houses than there ever were, ranging from near powerless to controlling a third of the hive, leaving the top tier just as crowded as the rest of the Hive. Most nobles are absolutely cutthroat, politicking based around trying to take their neighbours land, when the land in question is basically the size of a nice apartment. Lesser nobles of larger families are often upsets, since they have a name but not much else to back them, as resources or limited even for the rich. Violence is just as common in the noble world as a result, trying to violently seize a small family's assets, or trying to carve out a larger piece of the inheritance pie by infighting with your family. The violence present in the upper and the lack of proper governing by the Praetorians led to an ass-load of private para-military forces employed by the noble families to enforce their laws on their property and go to war with other nobles.

It is believed that genetic traits common to Voidborn, such as pale skin, red hair and unusual eye colouration, entered into the hive cities genetic makeup via the crew. Hivers who manifest some or all of these traits are sometimes called Starborn. Depending on local superstition this could be seen as an omen of good or bad fortune. Some among the nobility claim descent from the ship’s Navigation and Astropathic contingent. While this is at least faintly plausible, it seems far more likely that it is a face-saving lie to excuse the appearances of the more grotesquely inbred dynasty members.

With the arrival of the Imperium and the Sisters of the Orders Famulous, a number of new bloodlines have become rising power players on Hua Yuan, much to the chagrin of established households. Arranged marriages between native nobles and off-world guild families, distant planetary nobility and even the bastard children of a few Rogue Trader dynasties have brought with them wealth and resources from the larger Imperium to the planet. These social climbers are often the most willing to work with Imperial forces on Hua-Yuan and are far less likely to follow native religious beliefs. In exchange, these families tend to receive more profitable contracts, judicial decisions falling more often in their favour and their first-born receiving more advantageous placements in Guard regiments. This is the cause of some resentment among the more ancient noble families, particularly when their complaints are dismissed as "mere coincidence".
>>
>>45815404
There are noble alliances that sought to gain power and influence in much more destructive ways of Heresy. These alliances are bound in secrecy and conspiracy. Be it worshiping the Ruinous Powers, plotting independence, joining the the Tau Empire, or even seeing the return of the Hive Fleet, these nobles seek to undermine the other houses or take the Hive completely. Bound in shadow by their drive to see the Imperium driven out of their moon, the are as divided against themselves as they are in secret against the loyalists. The are only bound together by a single charismatic figure that plans to see all their goals fulfilled, and their supremacy dawn on Hua Yuan.

While the weakest of political powers, the noble trade guilds are united in their love of money. Nominally loyal to the Emperor, these Rogue Traders, Guilders, and Barons are singularly obsessed with amassing their fortunes through any means possible. While the Praetorians may have their name on the moon, it is this band of nobles that is focused on exportation and importation, and the economics therein. While not as heretical as some noble houses truly are, they are certainly not above dipping their hands into the black market.

AND that's it. Tell me what you guys think, and then I'll head over and add it to the wiki.
I'm also working on a list of noble families that were typed up in the thread, so there's that too.
>>
Thinking about tackeling the Ricci stuff. I think we should save the next thread for finishing up the actual regiment, since that will require more creativity and less searching through archives

>>
>>45815420
I really like the genetic variance wrought by void born. I hope to God you mean cherry red hair.

I don't know about making the Guilders a weaker political party, I added them as megacorp standins
>>
>>45816605
Alright, so maybe they command the least respect, but they're one of the more influential in their control of the interplanetary economy?
>>
>>45816631
Oh yeah, everyone hates them but the Praetorians.

But they have the economy by the fucking balls
>>
>>45816631
That would make sense with how the Imperium runs things
>>
>>45816779
While loathed by all on Hua Yuan, the noble trade guilds are united in their love of money. Their influence is far reaching, controlling and overseeing all imports and exports, requiring anyone who aspires for wealth to begrudgingly work with them.

>The original Olavis was the head chef during Hua Yuan's fateful voyage. Growing up on an agriworld, he was well familiar with running a farm as efficiently as possible. Realizing the value that good will quickly gain, Olavis enlisted as many farmhands that he could, and quickly occupied as much land as he could. Generations later, the Olavis family produces all of the rice, fruit supplement, "beef and chicken" (dogs and bats), and any other speciality foods required to be grown. Always vying for more territory on the lower middle hive, they run a sizable private security contractor and own much of the lower north east. They gained the nickname "5th tower farmers" after a natorious gang they employed as protection called the "5th tower orkz", who were known for painting themselves green. The descendants of this gang make up they're current security forces. The current patiarch is Corvo Olavis, a ruthless man who marks up his prices 200%. A known warmonger, we sponsors as many local gangs as he can, hoping for warfare to spread so he can take the territory damaged in its wake.

>The Thaddeus and Yao Partnership effectively united all the Gas farming facilities under a single management. Seen as a proper marriage between Foreign interest and Domestic relations. The deal will be finalized upon the day of the two partner's children's Arranged marriage to each other while currently its in a transitory preparation stage.

>The House of Duboui runs 85% of the legitimate mining operations in Hua Yuan with an iron fist. Literally. While none of them are Mechanicus by any stretch of the imagination, they consider themselves to be "Cybernetic Enthusiasts". They have deals with the mechanicus for top of the line implants and replacements for the family. The rumor mill states that they want to control that branch of the mechanicus financially as a "Nest Egg".
>>
>>45817190
That's the thing with 40k, the super fleshed out stuff gives you upper and outer limits, and a model to base things off of and a base to play around in.

A sparse few words allows folks a lot of room for creativity.

Personally I feel you should just expand on what you find interesting.
>>
>>45817560
>One of the most ancient houses in the Hive, House Mintichrius, or the Minty crew, was established soon after impact by the then chief mechanic Johann "Minty" Mintichrius, what was left of his division began immediate breach repairs on the ship and, due to much of the command chain and mechanicus cult being killed or maimed upon impact, was defacto authority over most of the engineering and maintenance crews. His leadership in the early days is responsible for much of the hives ramshackle construction and shoddy electrical work. His motto of "A job worth doing is worth doing badly" still stands among his dynasty and their crews of wirers, pipers and voidsuited construction workers.

>A divergent branch of the Commander's descendant house, House Kuàijì commands the Adamantine, Gold, and Electrum mining on Hua Yuan. They are highly devote to their esoteric beliefs, and work extensively with the noble guilds of Hua Yuan, exporting their ores to nearby worlds. Large supporters of the Imperial presence on Hua Yuan, they especially work with members of the Ecclesiarchy, giving the territory for the Sororitis to set up a base of operations. Because of these relations, they have solidified their place in the Imperium's eyes, but have become targets for the other noble houses.

>Kauiji is fine

How's this? Pretty half assed, but its a start
>>
>>45818184
I love it. Throw it up in the wiki?
>>
>>45818184
Out of all those names only Yao sounds remotely like a Chinese name.

Duxuo is close, but I'm not versed in Mandarin phonetics enough to figure out something that sounds like a name based on that.

The others simply don't make sense.
>>
>>45818455
Like I said, half assed. I was also trying to maintain enough of the original name as possible. If you can do better, please
>>
>>45818479
Here's the problem.
English names work very differently from Chinese names, hence most Chinese translations are nothing more than mashing together characters that sounds phonetically similar.

(not like there aren't any that also sound like legit Chinese names, but those are pretty rare, and I don't think I can do it with what we've got)

It'll also break the "Minty" nickname, I think.
>>
>>45818601
I'm hesitant to change any of the names outright, but Olavis can probably be changed to something like Shaoguan
>>
Since there's going to be all these nobles added, I rolled up another gang, and they just turned out to be space Pinkertons

tell me what you think:

>The Chengguan are a private security and detective agency on paper, but are little more than thugs for hire. Founded by Zou Chen in the lower hive, rumors ruthlessness and violence these gangers committed spread throughout their corner of the Hive. Eventually they were hired by a noble family to settle a territorial dispute, which is where they got their big break and renown. They butchered the rivals forces so thoroughly that no one is quite sure who exactly they were fighting anymore, only that they’re no longer around. Once the most extensive and well known “guns for hire” gang around, they have no central structure, only a loose bureaucracy that ties each outfit together. Most of their work involves supressing worker riots and maintaining civil order for noble houses, but they are known to take any job, from being hitmen to private detectives. Members dress in expensive uniforms of magenta and cyan, using money extorted and robbed from the people on their turf to buy the most state of the art equipment around. Anyone can hire a Chengguan to do any job, as long as there’s money and violence involved.
>>
>>45818943

>>45820752
>>45820752

I remember when you proposed this, I think. How big should they be? I'm feeling like they should have a loose structure, since clubs are all over the Hive and they're united under one figure

I feel this is one of the few cases where a club is static.

Maybe it's deep within the Brimstone and built inside one if those massive trams. So it moves around

Hey, could fit. Why does it always have to be lasers? Seems laser weapons tend towards the single shot/semi automatic rather than the automatic. The autogun's strength is that it's a bullet hose, even if it has nowhere near the magazine capacity or universal reliability of a lasgun.

What're they like?
>>
>>45827074

>>45826957
Daft. And punky.

Considering their level of knowledge (read, low) they are going to be more affected by the culture around them then be as culturally pure as other Mechanicus cults.

The Mechanicus that the Imperium brought with them probably runs around sperging out on how X, Y, and Z doesn't conform, or is borderline Tech heresy.
>>
>>45827380
So they're divided? That works! What sorta tech they got? Probably too many glowing lights
>>
>>45827538
The native tech cult is as flashy as the rest of the hive. They abide by most Mechanicus conventions, but the abundance of platinum, Adamantine, Chromium, silver, and other "shiney" materials often used to decorate Bionics and Weapons in Hua Yuan has caused the local cult to be glittering from head, clad in chrome and adamant.

The musical culture of Hua Yuan has seeped into the local cult as well, and their Psalms rival in popularity with most Rocker tunes and Jockey beats.

>>
>>45829918
Holy shit.

Well I mean, how much stuff is Mars exclusive? And how much can we justify for being on the ship when it crashed?
>>
>>45829950
Maybe someone remembered the pattern and built it from memory
>>
>>45830042
The thing with Hua Yuan Tech Priests is that they are Chinese knock offs, the originals are Datum Drones and no one has the code.
>>
>>45829950
I don't think it's Mars exclusive - they're described as worshiping a third part of the trinity that forms the Omnissiah, something called the Motive Force - basically electricity. They're only described as being a rank of techpriest and otherwise a normal part of the cult, so it's not as if they might not have been on the ship with other techpriests.

Besides, listen to this quote from the Lexicanum about the Corpruscarii:

>The forefathers of the Corpuscarii focused their worship upon the Machine God – they believed his light should be brought to the galaxy and expended great resources in subsequent Crusades.
>Literally filled with the Motive Force, the Corpuscarii spread the blessing of illumination in the name of the Machine God. Blazing with lightning, electrosurgically prepared for the unimaginable power coursing through what was once their veins, a Corpuscarii Electro-Priest discharges incredible, sparking bursts of thrumming energy, shaking apart enemies in an ecstatic religious fervour.

Doesn't that sound perfect for Hua-Yuan? A bunch of somewhat crazy electricity-obsessed priests, shooting lightning everywhere to literally light up the night?
>>

>>45830297
The Omnissiah himself is probably part of the trinity, being the Machine God, and the Emperor is considered his physical manifestation, at least officially. Basically there's Tech-God, Emperor-Jesus, and the Holy Electro-Spirit.

On Hua Yuan, especially since there's constantly going to be electricity coursing around through neon lights and such like that, I imagine the Electro-priests would end up pretty dominant.
>>
>>45830396
Sounds good to me actually.

How could they veer from the Cult in ways that would make Mars uncomfortable?

I...really don't know, since I don't really know much about the specifics of the Machine Cult.

Maybe they prosthelytize to the masses in huge showy displays of song and rhythmic beats? Preaching to the masses of the Cult Mechanicus is one thing, but doing it with such sacred technology that was never meant for such gaudiness is near-heresy.
>>
>>45830793

>>
>>45832381

>>
>>45832454
Well my thought is that they'll get you chromed and tatted (electoos are a thing holy shit) for a "donation" to their humble cult.

Also Electro-Priests was a fucking great idea dude, their chanting, the tattoos, it all fits fantastically.
>>
>>45832544
Well it does fit. They can even make their electats kind of stylistic - they could be actual pictures, or chinese characters.

Imagine a guy with GLORY TO THE GOD OF TECHNOLOGY written on his back in electoos.
>>
>>45833771
That would be fucking sweet.

Actually you get tatted by the Electro-Priests for good luck and protection. There's some Sects that do it, but they may or may not be heretical.
