Sasuke and the Hokage are having their operation later today, then they'll be blind for a while afterwards. The Kage are all supposed to meet in about a month to discuss strategy and sort out the organization of their forces, and Itachi basically gave you free reign until then. Whether you want to train or whatever, he has told you that he trusts you to be prepared when the time comes.

Now the question is how to spend that time.

Firstly i'd suggest we finish our Unique Impact technique first, get it under control at range and also be able the throw them. But I think this is our last chance to get that "Do no Evil" Monkey.

We really, really need to lean to body Flicker while with Enma, then at impact chakra, get really good with it. Green Chakra, loyal to the end, great with body flicker, we can give itachi Shisui flashbacks.

You head to the hospital and get directions to the surgical ward, where you find Shizune checking over Sasuke and Itachi while a couple of assistants get everything prepared for the operation.

"Ah, Kon." the Sixth greets you, as his wife shines a light into his eye and examines it. "If you needed to see me, then this is good timing. We're just a few minutes away from the operation, and Sasuke and I will likely be put under for most of the day while Shizune here does her magic."

"I still don't know why you wanted me to do this over Lady Tsunade, honestly." Shizune sighs. "I guess I appreciate your vote of confidence, but let's face it, I'm nowhere near her level."

"Oh believe me Shizune, there's no one I'd rather have performing this operation." Itachi replies. "I can always trust you to handle me delicately."

"Can we not go there?" Sasuke interrupts. "Let's just get this over with. Don't you two have a kid to get back to?"

You have a few people you want to let know you're leaving. First thing's first, you head back to the restaurant. You grab a couple of things for the trip, and tell your uncle that you're going off to train for a while. He wishes you luck and tells you that he can hold things down here just fine.

After that, you track down Konohamaru and tell him about your plans.

"Aw man, I wish I could come too, but I should probably stay here in case I need to come get you in an emergency, huh?" Konohamaru sighs. "Well, good luck anyway. You'll be the one fighting. They probably won't let me, since I'm too young. But you can show everybody the power of a Monkey Sage!"

You thank Konohamaru and wish him luck in return, then head off. You still want to see Tenten and Kiba before you go. Kakashi as well. Tenten is likely to be in her shop as always, so you search for your teammates first. You go to the training grounds, but find no one. Checking Kakashi's apartment and Kiba's house turns up no results as well. You decide to go ask about their whereabouts at the Hokage's office.

Arriving, you find Kakashi and Kiba talking with Neji, who seems to be doing paperwork in the Hokage's stead.

"Then this mission will be up to you two. Hopefully this will net us some more allies." Neji says, before turning his attention to you. "Welcome, Kon. I'm just filling in for Lord Itachi while he's getting surgery. Though I'll probably have to keep doing his paperwork for a bit longer, regardless. Did you need something?"

"How are you doing, Kakshi Sensei?" you ask. "Did everything go alright with meeting the three tails? It was my idea, so I hope it didn't cause you any trouble."

Kakahi stares for awhile before breaking a smile out under his mask.

"No trouble at all." he insists. "In fact, I'm grateful. The guilt will never really go away, but now I feel like I can get some closure. I always asked myself why it had to happen, and I never thought I'd get my answer. But now I can walk forward with confidence. I'm going to fight Madara, both for who I've lost, and for who I don't want to lose. So I guess to answer your question, I'm doing just great. Good luck Kon. We've got to head to the Land of Snow. We'll see you when you get back."

Kakashi leaves the Hokage's office, and you follow suit. Next you head to the weapon shop to see Tenten.

As usual, you find her behind the counter fiddling with some weapons.

"Hey, Kon. Welcome!" she greets you, setting her weapons down. "Did you come as a customer again today? Or did you want to see me for something else?"

Like, Kaguya's defeated, the world is saved, but we're trapped in one of her pocket dimensions as it collapses without her influence. But then suddenly the camera cuts away to our home universe where Tenten is assembling a big seal array to pull us back through using the Thunder God seal on us as an anchor. I hope that happens, that would be a cool finale.

"So you have a war coming up, do you?" Enma asks. "Sarutobi lived through many of those in his lifetime. I'm sure with your dedication, you will be able to protect the things precious to you, just as he did. So how do you intend to spend this time here?"

You feel a wind blowing constantly from further in. Soon enough, you are at the first gate. It covers the entire passageway, so there's no way around it. You have to go through. As you cross the threshold, you prepare to say which sense you will give up.

You feel around, but find no way on. Stopping to listen, you hear wind from above you. You scale the wall and arrive in what sounds like from the wind a wide open chamber. You decide to stop here for a moment and just listen. You take a seat and decide to gather some nature chakra while you do.

As you meditate, you get a feel for the chamber you're in. The hole you came through seems to be in the center of the chamber, with the walls roughly equally far away. The wind curves around a lot of objects, presumably large stones, scattered about the chamber. You can hear water running through the chamber. From directly in front high above you, it steadily flows down the wall, then to your right. From what you can hear, there must be a passage there. Listening to the wind one more time, you feel like there are a few passages out of this chamber. But you don't know how to choose which one to take. You sense about in Sage Mode for a bit to verify the guesses you made by sound, and you also feel a great chakra source deep in the mountain. It's too big to tell which way to go to get to it. You don't even know if you would want to.

After sitting for several minutes, you decide that you need to move on. There are three passages further out of this room that you could tell. One above you, one to your left, and one to your right where the water flows. One of them has to lead to the next gate. There are some obstacles in the way of each, but none that will hold you for long.

Going down the passage, you can hear the water splash with every step. Eventually you hear a loud rumbling. It's unmistakably a waterfall. As you go further, you stop at a ledge. You decide that this probably isn't the way you need to go, and turn back. The way back is quick, as you just follow the flowing water. Once you reach the open chamber again, you keep following it to the wall, then begin to scale it. The wall is slippery,and covered in dents and crevices, but you eventually make your way to a path up above. The water slowly trickles down from here.

You walk along for a while, before coming to a proper stream. In the distance, you can hear the stream become a waterfall. Your best guess is that it's the source of the water from above in the other path. You keep following the stream until you come to a spring welling up from the ground. This must be the source of the water. Behind the spring, you hear the wind howling. It's a chasm, and you come to an abrupt cliff face. Without sight, there's no way to tell if there's anything down there, much less the gate.

There seems to be a narrow path form here across the chasm. Barely wide enough to stand on. You walk it carefully and reach the other side to find another tunnel. You try to go on, but are stopped by some force. You feel around to find that it's the next gate. You found it. You get ready to pass through.

You have to save speech for last, or you can't get through the last gate, so there's only one option.

You go into Sage Mode, and try to get a feel down each of the tunnels. The one on the right continues unabated for quite a while. You can't actually sense an end, while the one on the left seems to branch off a few times. Both of the tunnels have wind coming from them, but the one on the left seems a bit stronger. In addition, the left path seems smoother than the right. The right has several protrusions jutting out, while the left does not. At least in the main path as far as you can tell, there's no way of knowing about the branches.

You decide to take the left tunnel. If the wind is supposed to push you out, then you just have to follow the branch that has the strongest airflow. Simple enough.

You crawl through the tunnel, stopping at each branch to feel the wind. You go back and forth a few times, and make sure to go down the tunnel you can feel wind more strongly from. This goes on for quite a while. It feels like hours, crawling, feeling the wind, and crawling some more. But eventually you get to a larger tunnel. You can finally stand upright again.

After taking a bit to stretch, you go on. Not too far down this tunnel, you're stopped. You feel around and find it. The last gate. Without hesitating, you pass through.

"Speech." you say aloud, though you cannot hear it. You pass through, and presumably have lost the ability to speak. No need to get reoriented on this one, you move on.

You eventually come to another open chamber. This one is about as big as the first.

I just had a weird thought: We're retrieving a statue of a monkey from within a cavern deep in a mountain. Our chakra sense tells us that there is something extremely powerful somewhere in here. First thing's first, you don't want to lose the way back. You draw a kunai and put one of your Impact tags on it, then drive it deep into the rock, next to the tunnel you just came through. If you really need to, you can set the tag off remotely and sense the release of chakra.

You then go into Sage Mode. It's time to pull out everything in your bag of tricks. You push Impact chakra out, feeling it as it bounces around, jerry-rigging a sort of chakra echolocation. This way, you can tell which paths are dead ends, of which there are several. After several hours of having to go in and out of Sage Mode, you find your way through the labyrinth to one giant open chamber, with a huge chakra source directly beneath you. You walk out to the center of the chamber to find a pedestal. You feel the object sitting on top of it. It's a small statue in the shape of a monkey. You've found it. And it's only been about seven hours. Though you can see why few have passed this trial.

You've got to approach this one carefully. You go into Sage Mode once more and sense for the chakra source. Whatever it is, it's huge. But it's not moving in the slightest. It might be some giant sleeping creature. You'll have to keep tabs on it.

As you do, you feel around the pedestal. There doesn't seem to be any sort of mechanism to trigger once the statue is gone. The pedestal is entirely ordinary. But you stay alert regardless. You slowly and carefully grasp the statue, and lift it from the pedestal.

The very second the statue leaves its place, all feeling is gone. You can't feel the statue in your hands. Or the ground beneath your feet. Or the wind around you. Not even your own body. Nothing. And that's not all. The chakra source vanished as well, even though you were paying close attention. This is too much not to process at once, and you lose grasp of the statue. It falls right back onto the pedestal, and you can feel again. Not only that, but sense chakra again. The huge chakra source is moving. You can feel the chamber shake. You can feel the wind from what you assume is its roar as it stands upright, towering over you. Whatever this creature is, you woke it up.

There's no time to think, you just need to go. You orient yourself in the direction of the exit, then grab the statue and run off. As you expect, picking up the statue again robs you of your remaining senses. You're running with no feeling at all. Eventually you just become too uncomfortable and stop, setting the statue down. You regain your sense of touch and chakra sense once more. You can feel the cavern shaking violently, that creature must be trying to tear the whole place down.

Meanwhile, you need to get this statue back to the entrance without any senses.

You don't really see a better course of action than the one you're on. It takes even longer than the way down, but you manage to feel your way through the labyrinth back to the open chamber, setting the statue down every once in a while. The cave is still shaking, rocks falling and nearly striking you several times. You almost got lost at one point, but that Impact tag you left leads you back. You pass through the third gate, and begin crawling up the tunnel. This takes far longer than before, as you can't feel the wind this time, and the tight space makes your echolocation trick difficult. It's several hours until your finally get through to the second gate.

Setting the statue down, you find you can hear again. You're immediately greeted by the rumbling of the cavern and a roar of a volume you've never heard before. That beast is still rampaging. And you don't have a lot of time left. Carefully retracing your steps, you make a dash for the first gate, and the exit. You pass through the first gate, then set the statue down momentarily, just to see it. The faintest trace of light. Picking the statue back up, you run as fast as you can to the entrance. You fall forward at one point, and the statue is taken from you as you regain all your senses.

"Eighteen hours and seven minutes!" Shizaru exclaims. "That's a new record! And it looks like Oozaru didn't give you a scratch! You are something else after all, boy. You pass."

You exhale deeply. The trial is over.
