We've taken this and fluffed them out as Hong Kong/Kowloon 80's cyberpunk helghast. Descendants the crew of a gigantic mining vessel that crashed on an inhospitable planet and survived despite it all. They are extremophiles, proud, (literally) bright, and consummate bug hunters. They are the Exterminators.

So feel free to join in and provide fluff, images or whatever you'd like. This belongs to /tg/.

Remember: At this point we're basically fluffing a WH40k TTRPG setting. And we can't make something interesting by oversaturating the Regiments with Chinese elements.

Some discussion starters, this time we're going to try and fully flesh out the 1st Hua Yuan Exterminator Regiment.

>What's the company structure of the 1st like?
>What are the Commissars like?
>What's moral like, usually?
>What do they think about other regiments? Other Hua Yuan Regiments?
>What do they think about the 1st?
>What does the 1st do on their days off? Do Hua Yuan guardsmen even get leave?
>What's the garrison like?

One last bump. For great justice.

For the Exterminators that have fallen under a Nid's talon, for the Exterminators laid low by a Choppa, for the Exterminators ripped asunder by a traitor. For the Exterminator who lost his mind with ten grams of 'Nid Dust in hs brain. For the Exterminator put down by an fresh Commissar making a point. For the Exterminators that give their live for the rest of the team, because they know they have a family back home, and they have nothing. For the Exterminator that drowns in a burst sewer. For the Tanker that dies making sure the Exterminators get inside that hive, so they can raise hell. For the Recon Biker that crashes his bike on the way back to the FOB. To the Razorgirl that dies in a blaze of glory, because that's the only freedom she's ever gonna get.
>>
For the blood in the Streets of Hua Yuan. For the silenced nobiles in the spires. For the mutants, raiders, and exiles left to rot in the wastes. For the kid too young to understand what's happening to him. For the slaves handed of to some grinning Xenos sadist. For the bum overdosing on something homebrewed, something to escape from the pain. For the man beaten in the street by an Arbitrator that didn't think his jokes where funny. To the kid sitting on the stoop, wrapped up in flame by a gang war gone out of control. For the bum kidnapped in the middle of the perpetual night and made into "grox meat".
>>
For the music in underhive. For the kid who fills his life, left empty by his older brother's conscription, with graffiti and paint. For the ganger that makes sure the streets are clean, that Old Lady Lee get's her ration. For the Noble that donates money into the lower hive. For the Exterminator that finds love in a foreign hive. For the Razorgirl that finds love in a bar. For Ole Hester, who already has loved, and lost. For the ecstatic racer clutching a shining trophy of scrap and bitz. For the merchant that accepts his bastard son. For the Praetorian that falls in love with the very hive he exploited. For the Enforcer that looks upon the family without a home, and gives them a roof over their head, if only for the night. For Sects that lay down their arms, and realize that they where both preaching the same thing but with different words. For the gangers that lay down arms, for the kid on the stoop. For the smiles in a neon lit club, dancing to song that even if they don't know it, preaches the word of the Emperor in ways the Ecclesiarchy never could.

I don't bump this thread for myself. I don't bump it for the anons that helped me, the drawfags that made works of art, or even the writefags that brought the place to life.

I bump this thread for Hua Yuan.

I bump it for all the blood, filth, depravity, and treachery that defines the hive.

And I bump it for all the honour, the family, the love, and the hope that every Hua Yuanese citizen holds in their heart. For the heroes with names no one in the greater imperium can pronounce right. For the artist who fights against the machine just by being different.

I bump it for the sparks of happiness in a galaxy gone to shit.

I bump this thread for Hua Yuan.

Even in death I Still surf.

>It was true...the ruling nobility of the upper hive knew it as true as the Emperor's bones. This corpse of a planet was nearing the end of it's use. That was the plan, as it bad been for generations. In reality the Administraitum barely cared about this world or it's pathetic tithes, it was one dead world with a hive amongst countless.

>In sectors that are too underdeveloped to have an extensive recycling program, or for clusters of hive worlds that have an expectedly short or useful life span, a dedicated planet will host the extensive amount of waste each world makes, allowing for the hives to focus exclusively on churning out their given resources for the Imperium.

>AshigaruSchwarzkropf IV was that world, in that system of the same name. It played host to a small forget world of little importance, originally founded by an explorator who's ship had malfunctioned and became stuck in the system's asteroid belt.

>With the infestation of AshigaruSchwarzkropf IV, dropping detritus on the planet was no longer an option. It would only further serve to sustain the green tide there. Asteroids that had been mined of their useful material would be dropped on the planet periodically as a form of protracted exterminatus, but in reality was just an inexpensive containment method until it was convenient to attack the Orks. A new planet would be needed, the cluster was expected to remain minimally viable for at least 3,000 more years.

>One ton. One ton less than the last shipment was all it took for a single Administrator to quickly predesignate Hua Yuan as "expended". No further resources would be dedicated to planet, and any further resources gained would simply be a token boon for the Emperor.
>>
>>45860582
>It was a full solar year before anyone reacted to the loss of AshigaruSchwarzkropf IV. Only when the local forge world petitioned the Adeptus Mechanus for council did the issue become expedited. Debris barges were simply being parked in AsigaruSchwarzkropf's system and left. Apparently this was unsatisfactory as the forge world itself had no recycling program, and "Could not cope" with the garbage amassing in their system.

>Even the dead can still serve, and the Expended planet of Hua Yuan was reclassified as an Imperial "Planetfill" as an interim solution to the loss of A.S.IV. It was likely the population never even realized they had been reclassified twice within a solar decade. Since the local imperial detachments still had not gotten the first message, and would not for years, sending out an expedited astropath message would be prudent.

>The barges came at a trickle at first, as supply lines were adjusted, and gradually increased in pace. Occasionally the ancient machines would commit suicide into the planet's atmosphere, or simply decide their superstructure could no longer handle low altitude dumping and would release their payload into the upper atmosphere. All the same, the scrap, garbage, and battlefield wreckage of a thousand worlds was beginning to descend on Hua Yuan.

>It had been one solar year since the dumping on Hua Yuan had commenced. No official edict, letter or even memorandum was given to the anyone planetside about the change in their role. Life continued on as normal.
>>
>>45860582
Jesus christ are are the implications of this?
>>
>>45860849
They would probably dump on the far side of the moon. The funny thing is is that this would probably jump start their economy as scrapping and recycling would become a viable business opportunity.
>>
>>45861765
>>45860861
the greentext is an initial idea from me, feel free to mold and shape it as you see fit.

I like the idea of the scrap being on the far side of the planet, or at least not near the main hive...all the time.

Potential implications?

Well...

New mini settlements gradually cropping up.

Armed convoys trekking across the planet to salvage materials and occasional tech.

Hulks of ships, tanks, obsolete or destroyed military equipment being of value, or getting refurbished for use against nids and other local problems.

Even biological garbage is valuable, perhaps most valuable, as it can be used to grow/ make food. So, dramatic fight out between gangs over a giant payday that is in fact several dozen septic tanks filled with grox dung.
>>
>>45861991
Might give the Raiders and mutants a place to hide, a sort of scrap town and shanty spaceport
>>
>>45861991
I could see this being like a little mini hive
>>
BAMP
>>
>>45867305
>>
>>45867305
bumpmos please feel free to sculpt the garbage dump idea, advance it, or write fag it.

I dont know who lays claim to this stuff, i know its sort of anon, but there is usually one-three drivers behind it.

Otherwise, The next concept I have is that the Hua Yuan are placed in a unique spot. If the hivemind agrees that the planet gains a second identity as a garbage dump, and is falling off imperial records as a viable hive world, the Exterminators would probably be left to sort of fend for themselves, meaning lore would have to further be created about how they do that.

I direct attention to the scrap, and ramshackle crap that can be made, and further the kalwoon influence, with each new "wall" or expansion being built around the original ship/ hive,
>>
>>45870830
No, I like perhaps an administrative fuck up that got the shit sent there, but they are still as viable as they where yesterday. The mines are just beginning to empty out but there's still plenty of stuff that the moon is useful for.
>>
>>45853773
Just through some vulgarities.

We have a motto, if that means anything
>>
>>45854615
Lets do that, no one is really discussing fluff right now, anyways

I didn't realize this thread was here for a full day, I feel like a cock for not hopping in here sooner
>>
>>45871868
I don't even know why I try anymore, to be honest. Raise awareness? Get folks to update the fuckin' wiki?

I don't know. I feel like a husband with a wife dying of terminal cancer and my kids are stuck studying abroad, and can't afford to get back. So every now and then we have awkward facetime conversations where we all pretend everything is normal.

But it isn't and it never will be again.

>>45871839
I know we have a Motto, but I doubt that's something the Hua Yuangese are going to shout while parkouring inside a plume of red smoke and Lasfire.
>>
>>45872005
We just need a little bit more to be done. Add like two more regimental types, more cultural fluff on the army, add the mechanicus and ecclesiarchy stuff and bam
>>
>>45872005
>>45872051
Lets do a write up for the grenadiers. We'll chip this away, don't you worry arbites
>>
>>45872051
Two more Regimental types? We have our bases pretty well covered I think. Some more cultural quirks of the regiments would be brill. The Ecclesiarchy on Hua Yuan has been pretty well done, but the Mechanicus has not.
>>
>>45872213
I mean added to the wiki. Sure we have all this stuff done, but not all that much has been thrown up on there. Like, there was a ton of shit written on the jade flame sect, and nothing about it on our page
>>
>>45872210
So, are they squad leaders for Exterminators? Or can they have Companies/squads all to their own?

I like the squad leader thing, we have a lot of stuff like in the American Army, I don't know how the chinese do it. I like the squad idea too, with the rest of the company existing solely to support the Grenadier squads.
>>
>>45872286
>I like the squad idea too, with the rest of the company existing solely to support the Grenadier squads.
Maybe the other way around. When some niggas are doing poorly, they send in the big guns to come and take care of things for the pattsies, who are considerably less pattsy than the normal shmucks who make up the standard guard forces. But, in all honesty, it could probably be both.
>>
>>45872317
What?

No I mean there are like, two Platoons of Grenadiers, 1st and 2nd. The rest handle things like Valkyries and other neat Stormtrooper stuff. The Grenadier company will be notionally part of the Exterminator regiment but are loaned out by the Tempestus Scions
>>
>>45872432
oooh, my bad. Grednadiers are taken from normal soldiers, so I don't know how much control the scions would have over them
>>
>>45872432
They were probably formed early on in the Exterminator's life. They seem like they would really useful
>>
>>45872005
how about 爱屋及乌 for battle cry
>>
>>45873765
pretty sure it means
>love me, love my dog
>>
>>45873204
I would argue that the Grenadier company would have been formed after their third or fourth major engagement, where the Stormtroopers saw that they could do with some special forces. The squad leader thing could occur to give the small regiment some much needed firepower and enhanced leadership capabilities at the squad level
>>
>>45874607
maybe the grenadier regiments have high levels of normal guardsmen for when they just need bodies to bulster the ranks, or maybe they just call on them whenever they need higher numbers
>>
>>45874644
There's no way there would be a whole regiment of grenadiers. In an Exterminator regiment, which is smaller than your standard regiment, only squad leaders in the fighting infantry platoons and perhaps a dedicated company would be Grenadiers.

Within the grenadier company, only a few platoons would be composed of actual grenadiers, and the squad leaders are usually Praetorian or Drookian. The Platoon Sergeants and Command Team can be actual Stormtroopers assigned to oversee Exterminator engagements and secure Tempestus Scion (and by extension the High Lords of Terra's) Interests.
>>
>>45874762
That's why suggested that it be primarily standard troops and support units, but you're right, the numbers would be too big to make any sense. Me mal
>>
>>45874850
Well within the grenadier company it would make sense for it to be mostly support, Tauroxes to get them there, Valkyries if the environment permits, perhaps a mortar platoon to draw fire, logistics to make sure they keep a good intelligence network, just stuff like that. The Grenadiers and Stormtroopers themselves exist only to kill shit and take key positions.
>>

>>
>>45875397

>>
>>45875624
There was two posts on how to make them into Red Army enforcers. It was mostly just a concept someone throw out there. You have an idea in mind for these guys? I know you're also doing the Shields, so it's all good
>>
>>45875674
Nigga I live for fluff. I'm only shitposting in these "Roll your Own" threads because my Freeform RPG Group and I had some major creative differences.

Besides I'm really personally attached to Hua Yuan. I have no idea why, it's not even mine and I've done like...minimal work on it.

Anyways the Commisariat is going to pretty standard no matter where you are. A Schola is a Schola is a Schola. Not a lot of variation. I was thinking that they would either be Hua Yuanese uppercrust hard asses/former Mobsters or Praetorian hardasses.

And they wouldn't be super BLAM happy either. They'd just beat the shit out of you and send you to a Penal Regiment or labour camp to meet the Tithe. In Exterminator units they would BLAM Exterminators that have fully lost their mind from Xenon.
>>
>>45875925
Nigga, you wanna talk about attachment, I was the OGOP and stayed up well into the morning for each thread

I feel like old mob enforcers would be a lot more fun. They know how to keep young punks in line
>>
>>45876007
/AR/?

I think that would be a deliberate choice to send the children of Mob Bosses and Gang lords to the Schola, as well as nobility. Yes their original personalities and pasts are damn near scrubbed clean, but they still know how to order people around, and the triad kids will have no reservations on using a bolt pistol on a motherfucker.

I think having Praetorian Commissars for the Regiment at large, then old school Hua Yuanese badasses for smaller units.
>>
>>45876127
Sounds good to me. Maybe not so many praetorians, though. They would be higher up on the ranks, I feel
>>
>>45876169
Yeah, that's why I said at the Regiment level. Like, one to three per Regiment. For Exterminators they might not even have any Praetorians outside the Tempestus Scion ran Grenadier attached company.
>>
I also realized that we never talked about celebrations and holidays in Hua Yuan.

I think that's kinda important.
>>
>>45876274

What, the phrase means "Love your home, even the birds inside it"
As in love everyone in your household.

That's nowhere NEAR what a battle cry should sound like.
>>
>>45877986
Whoopsies
>>
>>45877986
What would sound better? Something repping their homeworld?
>>
For a only-war campaign using them I think it should start out with something in their element. Say something like they are sent to a rebellious hive work and have to work their way through the underhive trying to find and exterminate the rebel cells. It can be a nasty mix of vietcong tunnel fighting and the descent or something. With firefights at a brutally short range that will leave everyone on edge. Tunnels that become so small you have to crawl on your belly to get through in single file lines and a failed perception check might cause you to trip an booby trap that buries the whole party. It would be almost pitch black with most of the light being what the party brings with them and even this deep in the hive the roar of machinery could probably still be heard masking the noises of approaching enemies and making them hear things that aren't there. You could even have them being hunted by a genestealer cult behind all of the rebellions with a purestrain stealer slowing hunting them while they are hunting it. You've got to play tricks on the players and make them see and hear things that aren't there make them paranoid about every tunnel they go down and make them pay for mistakes.

what do you guys think?
>>
>>45879879
Make them secret cultists or genestealers and it sounds great
>>
>>45879879
That sounds fucking horrifying.

It's perfect. I think that's what half of Exterminator Warfare is. When it's not surgical strikes and raids, it's wandering around ducts hoping not to get ambushed.
>>
>>45880822
Long term warfare absolutely. Of they know where the enemy is held up, it's not really a fight, they just crash the place with no survivors. Prolonged engagements is urban vietnam meets alien on crack. Months of wandering abandoned halls where there have been reports of engagements, just knowing they can jump out at any moment and destroy you from anywhere. Sounds like it'd be really fun to play
>>
>>45880895
I was thinking about it, and it's not really related, but the use of vertical positioning makes these guys really interesting. Like, if there's a group of enemies they no are pin down in one room, what's to stop them from dropping the ceiling on them? Or blowing the floor out and firing on them after they fall through? They're fun
>>
We could use real life gang mottos as inspiration for our war cry

The guy was pretty set on having their stuff be Chinese knock offs, so probably another sect that provides them cheaper than the main techies

The current theme is everything is a Chinese knock off save the Exterminators.

Buts a thing I've noticed in asia, and it's not necessarily a Chinese thing as I've never been there, is going to Buddhist temples and getting tattooed for protection. The Electro-Priests could provide a similar service, and Hua Yuan Techpriests could chrome your bionics for a donation to the cult.

Hi guys, sorry I've not been able to contribute much for a week or two because of thesis deadlines, but I've been making notes on the Religion/Sisters stuff in my spare time and I'm hoping whip them into something readable soon (and catch up with any threads I've missed!). I can't guarantee speed, however, and I've got to prioritise my real world work.

I did do an in-universe speech which I hope would be useful for something though.

>Sons and daughters of Hua Yuan, I stand before you with but one message: you are already dead. Only the Emperor and your fathers know the exact time and hour, but rest assured, your death is near and it will not be pleasant.

>The luckiest among you will die screaming. You will have been given the chance to alert your squad mates to whatever foul creature ends your life. Most of you will simply die. Perhaps your end will come from a chitinous claw ripping out your belly, or blood like acid burning your flesh to the bone. Perhaps your bones will be ground beneath a traitor’s tank, your soul offered up as repast to their hungry gods. Perhaps it will come in an alien forest, a place where organic superstructure grows as dense as the pylons of our home. Perhaps it will be on an airless moon or in the void between the worlds. Perhaps it will be your fault. Perhaps there will be nothing you could have done. Perhaps you will die to let others live, if only for a time.

>I say this not to frighten you. I say this as a bald statement of fact. The universe is a dark and terrible place, for there is no peace amongst the stars. But we are Hua Yuan. A thousand, thousand ancestors stand behind you as testament to the strength of our blood, of the will to survive and thrive where all others would have perished. We are not the proud Praetorians, living for the glory of a homeworld they will never see again. But neither are we the poor, doomed children of Krieg, spending our lives heedlessly to repay some long-held blood debt.
>>
>>45903191
>We are Hua Yuan! Our wealth was never in this world but in the people who lived upon it! From the highest skyborn to the lowest hole-dweller, you are the inheritors of a prize beyond your understanding. We have been born to die, because we are most endowed with life! Ours is a sacrifice offered freely, and in this we are the Emperor’s kin. We alone are fit to stand before His throne with heads held high!

>We are Hua Yuan! In death we will live in glory!

>Colonel Yun-fa, Hua Yua 3rd Regiment, speech to the newly inducted recruits of the 326th Muster.
>>

Ricci! Thank god! I've been trying to do a write up on all the stuff you said about the ecclesiarchy on Hua yuan

I really want to write out this short thing with an encounter between some acolytes of the Inquisition and one of the leading Order Famulous sisters (perhaps even statting some), but I've only broad brush strokes right now.

To be honest I've been making these threads to raise awareness in a bid to see the project done, because I simply don't have the time to do it myself.

However now I'm more concerned about fleshing them out with cultural stuff. Slang, mannerisms, garrison behavior, things that set them apart fromantic other regements, even amongst Hua Yuanese regements.

For role playing and writefaggotry purposes
>>
>>45908501
Ah well
I know slang from HK (obviously) and maybe a bit from Taiwan, but honestly not much from the Mainland.

Mannerism-wise I could see them being focused in efficiency/multi-tasking to the point of being very impatient about things.

Rough-talking too, and when anyone ticks them off they'd have an even more insufferable attitude Try speaking in Mandarin in HK, you'll soon understand what I mean

Also opportunistic with a strong desire to exploit whatever advantages/legal loopholes/whathaveyou they could get their hands on.
>>
>>45908782
In addition, using stuff that they would have from the setting. Like calling hallways shafts, or something
>>
is there chinese slang for police officers they could call commissars?

Go review Singlish. Now imagine your entire regiment talks like that.

>>
>>45910131
Egg tarts, m8.
A bit like custard tarts from Britbongistan, except more eggy and eaten piping hot.

Simple dishes?
Hmmm...
One I could think of is 粟米肉粒飯 (Rice with corn and cubed meat)
It's basically just canned cream of corn and cubed pork heated together and thrown on rice.

Of course in the case of our boys it's going to be "pork".
>>
>>45910231
>Of course in the case of our boys it's going to be "pork".
Don't know why that made me laugh.

>>
>>45910231
Another quick meal if you're not asking for anything more sophisticated than "edible" would be the usual instant noodles with luncheon meat/sausages/eggs/whatever stuff you can throw into it.

Macaroni and ham (not the posh kind of ham, processed so much the taste barely resembles meat "ham") in chicken broth is a pretty classic breakfast deal.

Oh, and milk tea.
A bit like builder's tea, except we use evapourated milk instead of fresh milk.
Commonly served in Cha Chaan Tengs (our equivalent of the greasey spoon) and serious business to some.
>>
>>45910339

Trenches? That's honestly my favorite thing.

I've been playing with an idea of a holiday where the Guard takes off work for a day during peace time, but the holiday builds interest for every day they aren't able to celebrate. This has lead to regulation that limits how many days can be celebrated, as Guardsmen getting drunk for months on end was counter productive to the Tithes.

I'm the very definition of Multitasking right now, sorry if I don't make sense.

>>45910868

>>
>>45910885
Nope, most Hua Yuan units, save the tankers, dig in trenches to sleep in instead of pitching tents. Basically an ant farm/mole burrow. Makes them feel cozy.

Tankers will normally park their Armour on top of the trenches or around the openings and just sleep and live in them, leaving the tank only to wash or do their business. Mostly.

I can't remember what thread it was in but just pop in all of them and ctrl F "Trench"

I think it was a regiment concentric one
>>
>>45910594
One more before I crash for the night.

Snake soup, usually consumed during Autumn (when the snakes are fattening themselves for hibernation) as a kind of delicacy.

While the ones served in HK use more proper ingredients, the HY version would be a lot more…Dibbler, should I say.

There's also something about eating raw snake gall bladder mixed with a bit of booze, but I'm not sure about the details
>>
>>45910742
>>45910768
When deployed to a foreign hive they get in fights with local gangers and claim territory as they are relatively immune from local law enforcement, as this reduces local criminal influence, planetary governors in hive worlds often request the Hua Yaunses for garrison duty whenever possible.

>>45910885
I know, I'm making a shitty joke. I read the trench camp thing as whenever they were deployed to a non hive area. For instance when deployed to a jungle they don't pitch tents they dig a little trench city to replicate their hive feeling.

>>
Cultural flavor idea: They have a relatively low opinion of space marines as their only exposure to them ever, was watching a squad get shreked by a lictor after hearing space marines get hyped up for a long time by other worlds regiments.

After hunting down and killing the lictor they just assumed Space Marines were large dudes in armour.

So when they hear space marines are being deployed to their theatre of battle instead of jizzing over the Emperor's own angels of Death, they just kinda don't react. They just think of them a commando/ heavy infantry unit of equal or lower expertise than themselves
>>
>>45911525
Not to mention that space marines are destructive as fuck, often unnessicarily so, which they wouldn't like coming from a world with very little space.
>>
>>45911525
Maybe this is why they hate the White Scars and love the Raptors?
>>
>>45910668
Here's what I have so far

Lacking the discipline of their more well trained brothers, the tactics used by these guardsmen are strikingly similar to what you might see during a turf war of some gangers. Rushed out to meet tithes or kicked out of Exterminator training, there's little discipline to be found anywhere in the ranks, including the officers. The Imperium at large uses them little better than penal legions, cannon fodder to flood a world with until one side stops moving first. They regularly work hand in hand with Exterminators, they act as a moving meat wall for strategic Hive swarming while the exterminators do the cool shit. There's a clear resentment on both sides, often only having their pride in their homeworld and disdain for outsiders act as a unifying force.

Because of its unsavory recruits and loose command, the regular regiments have some interesting quirks. The have a nasty tendency to loot the worlds they're deployed to, keeping what they like and selling what they don't back home, in almost a bastardized version of the exterminator's trophy taking. Tagging is another favored pastime amongst the forces, leaving all kind of profane and borderline heretical writings and pictures all over the former battlefield. Fights are common amongst the guards in a regiment, given their pride in their ganger/territorial heritage. Because of this, they essentially act as large gangs on the worlds they're stationed on. Given their size, they wipe out local outfits pretty quickly leading to a surprisingly comical situation where planetary governors will sometimes ask for them in order to drop crime rates.
>>

A dedicated two to three companies dedicated to Mounted, Armoured, and Infantry Recon makes a lot of sense to me anon.
>>
Here's the last bit for the regular guard. Please give me feedback on what to add/change

During prolonged occupations, rather than making camp by pitching tents or occupying blown out buildings, Yuanese guards often dig series of foxholes and tunnels that they live in, called a "Hua Yuanese Trench". While it can provide some protection from enemy vollies, it is mostly a way to recapture the cramped feelings of home.

Because of their lack of proper supplies most of the time, members of the guard have become experts at cooking cobbled up grub. Made from whatever they can get their hands on, their butchured taste-of-home has lead to other regiments thinking Hua Yuanese food is inedible garbage. Most known dishes are pretty modular as a result of the improvised culinary they often have to make due with. Imitation Fish Soup (鱼缸仔, Yúgāng zǐ) has three main components, imitation fish (boiled or fried), noodles, and a thick, chicken/mushroom/egg substitute stock for broth. Dried Beef and Noodles (牛肉和麵條, Niúròu miàn) is a common Yuanese dish, made from stir-fried "beef", he fen (broad "rice" noodles), dark "soya" sauce, and "bean" sprouts. Hua Yuan styled buns are pretty popular, including fruit buns (with or without a slab of butter substitute inside), cocktail buns, Satay beef buns, barbecued pork buns, etc. Youtiao (油條), is a fried dough lightly salted and made so they can be torn lengthwise in two.

Ya know, with the Hua Yuan, what about the women? Do they exist within the regiments?

>unrelated to all
Was thinking about Hua Yuan vehicles lately, probably mostly las based due to a lack of proper supply chains, with near zero shell shooting weapons. With that said, due to their equipment often being war salvage or domestic production some of the tanks and vehicles may have a very eclectic style. Even going so far as to continue the "light show" theme to the weapons, but due to their larger size the color difference in beam is mostly cosmetic.

>>45914583
>Are there any other kinds of regiments that we haven't mentioned coming out of Hua Yuan?
Air and mechanized are under discussed.
>What's the average company composition/layout of a Hua Yuan regiment?
Probably flexible, with units flowing more like a blob that breaks apart and swarms back together. If you consider the nature of a hive with its many corridors and walkways this would make sense. So possibly a larger than normal number, swarming forward, with commissars taking charge of who is in their line of sight, and then delegating further down as they become removed from each other.
>Do we have any sworn enemies?
nids?
>Who will come to Hua Yuan's defense at the drop of a hat?
...the administratum. :D
>What's the Hua Yuan navy like?
Probably poorly equipped. Possibly made of hand me downs.
>Any Hua Yuanese units go rouge?
Gang members likely view their guard duty as an opportunity and second job, so yes. Probably hunted down when it makes sense, and come back when it benefits them and they can get away with it.
>Are these guys too snowflakey? If so, how can we move them away from that?
Avoid Chinese lettering, and excessive symbols. WH40k when done right, alludes to other culture, and does not outright insert an exact copy of that culture.
>Are we balancing out all their elements and influences well? If not what can we improve upon?
needs more imperium.

I think their air arm would be lacking or completely non-existent. I mean if the whole planet has become a landfill sight people may associate flying with rubbish hence noone wanting to go into the air arm unless they have dishonoured themselves

For the mech units I'm thinking an almost orkish level of jury rigging. Im mean all the scrap around means eveyone can make something out of it. Cant tell what we decided on how the Ad Mech feel about working with them but they could resent the task or only assign the worst performing or hated techpriests to the world.

Also hatred of nids could be just a general hatred of all things overtly organic

First time in one of these threads so ignore or whatever

I feel you, air should be very very limited. I don't know about Ork levels, but they'd probably be in disrepair because of how neglected they are, having to patch up battle damage on their own

What I was saying about that will relate to how the Ad Mech feel desu. I agree maybe not ork level but it should be clear at any rate.

Having a Navy and Guard Unit at the same time is explicitly forbidden by Administratum so we don't need to worry about that. There is no Hua Yuan Navy

Alright guys, I'm back. Time to start fleshing out the mechanized regiments!

Someone mentioned that the nobles might sponsor the purchase of armored vehicles, so are these regiments where they send their first born kids?

Because they mostly do Siege Warfare, or "Hivecracking" as it were, and work along Knight Houses and the Praetorians or host world to manage the theater.

They are considered uppity for this but also they tend to survive due to it. There is not really a Hua Yuanes way to drive a tank.

first song to the tune of "blood upon the risers"

About an Exterminator recruit rappelling into a hive on his first infiltration mission. The Veterans sing this in training to psych out new recruits

He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright,
He checked all his equipment and made sure his pack was tight;
He had to sit and listen to those awful xeno roar,
"You ain't gonna jump no more!"

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

"Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant looking up,
Our Hero feebly answered "Yes," and then they stood him up;
He jumped into the night, his blinker armed, his static line was hooked,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock,
He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop,
The slack from his line spilled out, and wrapped around his legs,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

The risers swung around his neck, connectors cracked his dome,
Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground.
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

The days he'd lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind,
He thought about the girl back home, the one he'd left behind;
He thought about the medic corps, and wondered what they'd find,
He ain't gonna jump no more.
>>
>>45924564
(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild,
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, they rolled their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a week or more since last a line had failed,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

He hit the ground, the sound was "SPLAT", his blood went spurting high;
His comrades, they were heard to say "A hell of a way to die!"
He lay there, rolling 'round in the welter of his gore,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(CHORUS)
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

(slowly, solemnly; about half the speed of the other verses)
There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute,
Intestines were a-dangling from his Exterminators suit,
He was a mess, they picked him up, and poured him from his boots,
He ain't gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

one more song then, as someone whose college scholarship is about to get cut forcing me forcing join the national guard to pay for college, it's kinda gallows humor on my part

The Kroot, the Tau, Cultist, ‘Nid
We shoot the sick, the young, the lame,
Because the kills all count the same,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Flying low across the trees,
Pilots doing what they please,
Dropping frags on crying grots,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Tau in the open, making hay,
But I can hear the gunships say,
There'll be no Greater Good today"
Napalm sticks to ‘nids

See those Tau farmers over there,
Watch me get them with a pair,
Blood and guts just everywhere,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

I've only seen it happen twice,
But both times it was mighty nice,
Shooting Tau civilians planting rice,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Napalm, son, is lots of fun,
Dropped in a bomb or shot from a gun,
It gets the gants when on the run,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Drop some napalm on a Tau farm,
It won't do them any harm,
Just burn off their legs and arms,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

I've been told it's not so neat,
To catch cultists burning in the street,
But burning flesh, it smells to sweet,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Artillery don't care a bit,
Just as long as the pieces fit,
When you stuff the bodies in a pit,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Eighteen ‘nids in a No Fire Zone,
Fleshborers in hand and going home,
Last in line goes home alone,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Valkyries flying in the sun,
Killing cultists is lots of fun,
Get one pregnant and it's two for one,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Shoot civilians where they sit,
Take some pictures as you split,
All your life you'll remember it,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Exterminators are all hard core,
Blinkers and Las never are a bore,
Throw those PSYOPS out the door,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

Gather ‘nids as you fly over town,
By throwing corpses on the ground,
Then grease 'em when they gather 'round,
Napalm sticks to ‘nids.

I have one question; with their tendency to loot things and strap them to their armor (I don't know if they actually use them, which is HERESY albeit smart) combined with the fact that there are *active chaos cults on their planet*, how the heck do these guys not get corrupted? I mean, the odds of one of them picking up gear that contains a daemon and wearing it home aren't that slim. They don't (so far as I know) have exceptionally strong faith to protect them or particularly rigorous pseudo-inquistorial commissars (I mean, those would have just ordered them to stop looting things). So how come there isn't mention of widespread heretical cults within the Exterminators?

I suspect that many of the Exterminators, given the fact that there are active Khornate cults on their worlds amongst the gangers most likely to be recruited, their love for collecting trophies of slain foes and their obvious enthusiasm for killing as flashily as posssible, are under Khorne's sway.
>>
>>45925449
actual demon gear is super rare in the lore, and they fight these cultist constantly so they are unlikely to fall under their sway. The sheer size of Hua Yuan means the % of people in these cults is quite low, but yeah Hua Yuanese might fall a little easier then the average regiment.
>>
>>45925449
They primarily deal with Nids and genestealers. But yeah, probably more than a few turned to chaos

>>
>>45927331
>>45927254

I'm not a fan of the Noble tanker regiments. I like the idea of the Hua Yuan regiments being a meritocracy on a good day, a lottery on a usual day, and a frantic push to fulfill a tithe on a bad one.

Fresh guardsmen ussually go to a Line Infantry Regiment first, which are usually fire and forget. Those that show skill in a particular area or job are moved to a regiment that needs them. I've you've been in a infantry unit for a while that ussually means you're a stellar infantryman or you suck at everything else.

Folks that would be good at being a tanker get to be tankers. The rich usually try to get their kids into a schola so they can be officers and commissars. The Scholas look for type A personalities, which are usually found in the rags to riches circles in the lower hives. So if anything nobles would push to get more richblood in command.

>>45927442
"Hivecracking" a form of siege warfare utilized by most armoured Hua Yuanese regiments. The optimal Hivecracking tactics are to encircle the hive in question and advance, utilizing fixed gun emplacements, mobile artillery, and armoured elements. Typically fixed artillery, either provided by the host planet, another Regiment, or by the sparce few artillery companies some Siege regiments have, and is used to highlight strategic weak points and draw fire from the advancing mechanized elements.

The tanks and other wheeled and tracked assets usually harry defensive positions and attempt to create breaches to be utilized by Exterminators waiting in reserve. Destruction is often extremely precise and thoroughly calculated, so as to not invalidate any maps and layouts of the hive. Typically six breaches will be attempted to be made, six on around the sides and one in the center, either through insertion in the top or through tunneling efforts made by the Exterminators, mimicking the horrific "Seventh Wall Fall" event in Hua Yuan's history. The Exterminators then perform a "Flash and Clear" on a theater wide scale, Companies rushing into the breaches at intervals, so the enemy can't fortify any one position, then rendezvous in predetermined locations or an auxiliary location. When fighting enemies such as Tyranids the Exterminators will usually choose to utilize only two flanking breaches so as not to spread their numbers thin.

The Armoured units stand in reserve and provide covering fire and will finish off enemies flushed out from the breach. Once the outer layers of the hive are secured they will usually close in, denying the enemy any escape and providing semi-permanent firebases or fully operational instillations for allied forces.

>>45924377

The guys who have troops transports are very similar to the line infantry, they just happen to have rides, I imagine they survive longer than line infantry so they have a slightly inflated rank for their positions which might lead to friction when dealing with other regiments. As they both survive and are of somewhat noble blood most officer corps would come out the mechanized infantry
>>
>>45928495

I think the big thing with the Hua Yuan regiments is that it's a true melting pot. Sure, the hive looks like a city where cultures mix and mingle, but it's actually highly stratified and segregated. The Hua Yuanese are exceedingly racist and even more so classist. The regiments are a true melting pot, where who you where is broken down and who you are is built up. The regiment culture is more important than where you came from.

But if the majority want's richfag hardassed tankers then so is life.

Another anon here, throwing this up for reference. Things to consider. Hua Yuan atmosphere is not breathable, most of their combat is geared towards hive fighting, or cramped corridors. They have shitty supply lines, and rely on las weaponry. Shit needs to be simple to maintain, otherwise its probably broken down somewhere, stripped for parts, with homeless uncle Bastard Liu living in it.

Somewhere beteween a mix of the Elysian drop troops/ krieg, in terms of crawling slow and lightly made.

To that end, some suggestions, please correct me as im not overly familiar with the lore.

Bike- yes. its made of wheels, an engine, and sheet metal.
Tauros- Yes. its made of pipes, wheels, and an engine.
Chimeras- likely. Simplest of the tracked vehicles.

Again, just kinda playing this by ear, but imagining what can be fabricated in local shops, and not necessarily forgeworlds.
