“Ok, are we all here?” you ask, looking around the room “then let's begin.”

You've taken over one of the Oreian parliament's committee chambers for this meeting and have invited your friends and allies. Some of those who couldn't attend in person sent representatives but everyone's here.

Well, almost everyone, Bokin and the frost giants absence is the most notable.

“We're here” you say, focusing on the task at hand “because it's time to destroy the Killing Frost.” There's some scattered applause, you hold up a hand “what we need to do now is decide who is going, and how we're going to attack the place.”

“I could go alone” you start, though you're quickly contradicted as most of the audience volunteers to go with you.

“Ok then” you concede the point “I could go with a small group, sneak in there and take on the Killing Frost. Or take enough forces to stage diversionary assaults or even a large enough army to battle the forces of the Killing Frost.”

“But before we decide all of that” you say, pointing to the map on the table in front of you “Isla, would you..?” A quick spell later and the flat map of the northern landmass is transformed into a three-dimensional image of the place, covering a third of the room. Everyone walks up to examine Isla's detailed illusion closely.
>>
“How accurate is this?” asks Matthias.

“The maps of the original topography are accurate” says Isla “though they could have changed since the Killing Frost took up there.”

“And these troop masses and locations?” asks the Azure Empress, indicating the groups of tiny figures in Isla's image.

“We've had scouts and observers getting as close as they dare” says Jianxi “numbers are mostly accurate, but increasing. Locations we're pretty sure of.”

“It looks like magic is the best way in” says General Sofia “teleport in, kill the giant cloud of cold, and get out.”

Baroness Sofia is quick to contradict her double “we've tried deeper infiltration using magic, specifically teleportation and we've lost a number of good mages that way. They'll be prepared for teleporting.”

“Mortal mages” points out the general “a Goddess can overcome those restrictions.”

“Or fall into a trap” counters the Baroness “it's too risky to teleport directly into the heart of the enemies forces” she points to a huge mountain where the Killing Frost is (supposedly) residing. “Teleporting to or near this entire mountain range is suicide, but we've had mages teleport too and from these locations and get out again.”

“Those are the plains though” says the general “starting there means fighting or sneaking through two armies and getting past this fortress or whatever this huge structure is here.”

“We think its a coterie of Alyouns” Isla adds into the conversation “Ice elementals with strong sorcerous powers – each the match of a master mage, if my research is correct.”

“There, see?” says General Sofia “thank you Isla for supporting the logical view: a teleporting strike is the best way.”

“Wait, I wasn't-” Isla starts to say. Baroness Sofia cuts her off.

“What that means” she says “is that they have a lot of powerful spellcasters who will have placed wards over this whole area – none of which we can scry by the way.”
>>
You tried, but you don't think even you can get through without using a lot of your deific power.

“Sneaking past them is the best way” Baroness Sofia continues “mages are great at magic, but mundane methods are often overlooked.”

“You're forgetting” Shahulzer points out “the possibility of flying in. The snowstorm covering the place is strong, but we might make our way in.”

“We can do it!” pipes up Ebonsong “my sister and I can get through any stupid storm.”

“Much as I won't enjoy it” says your double, shivering a little “an underground approach might be best: the dwarves can find their way into this place via caves, and even tunnelling if need be.”

“This is all well and good” says Jal, wandering through the illusion and poking at things “but like, who is going? Cos if its an army I don't think we have enough dragons to fly in and stuff.”

Who is going with you to battle the Killing Frost?

The plan was to move in, teleport the frost to the plane of fire and then keep him there, that neither needs nor should have a large force of soldiers, but we do need capable force multipliers to avert interference
>>
>>45860608
Just as importantly, we can assume once we are gone there will be a attack on our allies and Oreia to capitalize on us being gone, so we can't deplete our forces too much.

“I'll be taking enough people with me that we have a wide spreads of abilities, but not everyone gets to go. I know you all would if I asked but I'll be picking people based on the mission, not my personal feelings. I know its harsh but there it is.”

Everyone's attention is on you as your voice easily carries throughout the room “We'll also be taking only a small group of soldiers with us: such as dragons, angels and succubi. This mission will be more about stealth than military force but we won't know what we're facing until we're there. We might need troops to guard approaches, make a diversionary attack oe help in the assault on the Killing Frost itself.”

Ophilian nods in agreement adding “This is going to be a tough quest. You know I'll serve wherever you need me Sireyi.” Her arm twitches as if she's about to salute.

Poppy gives Philly a sideways look and adds “Whilst I'm not quite eager to relocate to Heaven any time soon: you know me Sireyi, I won't let you down.”

The others echo the sentiments of your oldest friends: each assuring you that they'll do whatever is asked...or in some cases expressing a desire to see the Killing Frost die. Then some start not-so-subtly touting their own abilities. And disparaging each others.

“You really think you'll be more useful than me?” Nicolvren gives Matthias a doubting look “I'm a dragon, and you're a...what are you again?”

Jianxi steps up and puts a hand on Matthias' arm “someone who's been a friend to Sireyi for years, but I doubt you'd have the maturity to know why that's impor-”

“Enough!” The Azure Empress puts an arm in between them before it escalates “fight on your own time.” They're not the only ones facing off though.

You give your double a grateful nod “Yes, picking who is going was my next task and I-”
>>
“Let me decide” Jal interrupts “Don't tell the missus” she shields her mouth from you with her hand and faux-whispers to everyone else “but I'm willing to accept...favours...or cash: bidding starts at 1,000 gold for a spot on the roster.”

There's a few giggles and snorts, and the rising tension in the room dissipates.

“So” says Ebby “who is going? Have you decided or do we get to vote or what?”

The Azure Empress snorts “it's not a democracy.”

Surprisingly General Sofia says “true, but a wise commander listens to her chieftains before planning a battle. I say everyone should be allowed to make their case before Sireyi decides.”

“Sofia, I mean, General Sofia has a point” you say, pointedly ignoring your double when she rolls her eyes “We won't know what this quest will bring us, and I think a well-rounded team is the best option. But I also know that I don't know everyone nearly as well as they know themselves, so I want to hear from everyone: why are you the best choice for this mission?”

Lots of them start talking at once, then they finally let each other take turns.

Shahulzer starts “I can fly and I'm tough” he says with a grin “but I bet everyone here has really useful skills or magic. The reason I'm the best choice is because of two things: Fire is really my thing and we're fighting ice monsters; second because your infiltration force is probably going to have quite a few dragons in it...including some that will betray you if you show any sign of weakness. They also won't respect anyone except another dragon – the bigger and tougher the better, sorry Ebby” he gives your sister a wink. She glares at him and makes a rude gesture with one hand.

Matthias speaks next, scratching the back of his head and looking nervous about speaking in public. “Sireyi I've been with you since the beginning and you know how loyal I am. This is going to be a mission where people might die. I'm a werewolf and I heal pretty fast. I'm also a really good fighter and if I'm not coming back then-” Jianxi hits him on the arm and glares at him, then she speaks.

“If Mathias is going then I'm going” she says firmly “I can sneak into anywhere – you need a scout like me or Jal, and unlike Jal I can use magic.”

Jal gives Jianxi an incredulous look then turns to you “Love we've been through Hell together and ya knows what I can do. And if I need any extra fizz then Isla can cook up some potions or I can filch some scrolls. You does need a scout and not one too stuck up to get dirty when it's called for.” Jianxi gives Jal an icy look.
>>
“Sis I really wanna come” says Ebby into the silence “and my magic is getting better and I'm a dragon and I can fly...and...and...um, the bad folks aren't dumb and will have magic that protects against fire but they can't think of everything so they might not have thought of acid and stuff.”

“Ebonsong raises a good point” observes Nicolvren “they can't have thought of everything, and whilst my breath weapon isn't going to be much use against icy enemies silver dragons are creatures of cold. I expect that a few have joined the Killing Frost and I could pretend to join in order to help you from inside their forces.”

“That's not a bad idea” says Poppy “but it's risky. Look, Sireyi. I'm a priest, I can use magic and I'm small and quiet: I'm ideal for this mission.”

“Love you know you'll need me” says Isla quietly “if we're going to move the Killing Frost between planers you'll need the best wizard by your side because you'll probably be too busy keeping it busy to cast the spell.”

“You're going to need warriors as well as wizards” says Philly, now almost standing at attention “and I can fight with the best of them and I can help keep everyone alive with magic.”

“Well if we're talking warriors” says Baroness Sofia “then Philly is a priest of Konig, but I'm his descendant: I can fight anything the Killing Frost can field, and I can beat them. I can also help shield everyone from enemy magic.”

“I'm as good a warrior as she is” says General Sofia “and I've been leading armies into battle whilst she's been ruling a realm. You need more than just a warrior – you need a commander. I won't claim to be the administrator she is” General Sofia avoids looking at her double, or mentioning her name “but I know war, and this is war.” Baroness Sofia glares at her twin.

Twoblue raises a hand “Um, I can like climb and sneak and stuff and I can look all monster-y when I want to, so they probably wouldn't suspect me so I could join just like Nico if I needed to.”
>>
The Azure Empress just looks at you “do you really want me to give you the sales pitch, sister?” she asks with a half-grin.

“Maybe you should” counters Ellahi “since it seems you're the discount demon copy here darling – I'm the real deal.” As your double seems ready to explode Ellahi continues, deliberately turning her back on the Empress “Darling I wouldn't miss this for the world and my powers have grown very strong in the last decade. You want a rain of blood, or someone to rot from the inside out, or to betray everything they hold dear then I'm your demon.”

General Sofia manages to calm your double down enough to avoid an all-out battle between her and Ellahi...whilst Jal encourages them to resolve the issue via a shirtless wrestling match.

Gendric says simply “I'm a good fighter – you know that. And like Shahulzer fire is my speciality.”

“So” says Isla “who is coming with us?”

Their valour in all honor, I don't think anyone who can't use magic of their own is gonna help us.
Nicolvrens point is good, she, Shahulzer and Ebby should definitly be in. Azure is a non-choice, really, especially because she has the Heart.
So if we go with 6 people it should be
Nicolvren
Shahulzer
Ebonsong
Azure
Isla
The Empress is needed in the Azure Empire in case there is a attack and Sofia is needed in Dalvin for similar reasons.
Jal 'might' work, but I honestly don't see us do much sneaking.
I have no clue what Ellahi can do so can't say if she would be useful or not.

She's a dragon, thats a pretty good sell on its own, acid is a useful element to have as breath attack and her magic will come useful.

“I'm taking” you are aware of all the conversations stopping “Nicolvren, Shahulzer, Ebonsong, Azure, Isla and Sofia”.

As you list your choices you point to them all in turn. Those chosen mostly look pleased. The Azure Empress just nods, as if she expected you to pick her no matter what.

As everyone who wasn't chosen starts talking, you raise your hands for quiet “My choice has been made” you say firmly “now we need to decide on who we're taking as a force. I value your input, but if anyone wants to go, I won't force you to stay.” No one leaves.

Encouraged by that you continue “So, we've got dragons, angels, demons and others we could call upon. Since we're keeping the numbers small we'll only be taking experienced and powerful members, but I welcome your thoughts on how many of each we should take.”

“An even mix is the most flexible choice” says General Sofia.

“They'll be expecting Angels though” says Ellahi “you should take dragons and demons only, I bet they'll have unholy weapons.”

“They'll be expecting demons too” points out Matthias “they could have any sort of weapons and you won't know what they've got until you fight them.”

“Take every dragon you've got” advises Shahulzer “angels and demons are powerful but nothing scares people like a dragon.”

“You should prioritise those with magical powers” argues Isla “magic will allow them to deal with any obstacle, no matter if they're angel, demon or otherwise. Take the elemental soldiers we've been working on.”

“Or you could take experienced and tough warriors like dragons and archons” retorts Baroness Sofia “if we get into a fight we'll need those who can react quickly, fight on their own if needed and be able to take a few hits.”

“Muscle-brain” murmurs Isla

“Nerd” Sofia counters, but they're smiling at one another.
>>
“So, what forces are we bringing?” asks the Azure Empress “I mean, I have some pretty tough orc warriors we could help with a little magic boost – and they'd be happy to die for me.”

“I'll consider it” you say politely, as your sister offers you suicide troops.

“We'll keep our numbers low” you say, thinking aloud “a hundred should do it. Shahulzer made a good point – dragons should be the majority of our force, with some Angels and Succubi and plenty of summoned elementals. Fire elementals are an obvious choice but earth, air, water and storm could be useful. Ice elementals could be useful if we need to disguise ourselves or blend in but...that close to the Killing Frost even summoned ones could fall under his control. We can't rely on them.”

You nod to Sofia “The ability to survive in difficult situations is a must. Magic has its uses but we can't rely on it completely.”

“Other than all the summoned elementals...” you hear Isla murmur under her breath. You don't rise to the bait.

“So, the approach then” says The Azure Empress “with all those dragons, are we flying in? Because I still think the underground route is the best. And with earth elementals helping it'll be fast too.”

“Oh please nothing underground” complains Shahulzer “I hate going deep underground.”

Your flesh crawls at the idea of going deep underground too.

“How about overland” counters Sofia “the place is covered by a storm, why exhaust ourselves muscling through it, or stressing everyone out who doesn't like tunnels?”

“Sis can easily get us through any storm” points out Ebby.

“But interfering with it could be detected by the Killing Frost” points out Isla “And what's the plan once we get there?”

Sofia shakes her head “the same as its always been” she says “get in, deal with it, get out. We can't make a more solid plan because all the details we have of this place are either several days old or incomplete. We'll have to deal with problems as we find them. All we can say for sure is that the Killing Frost is here” she points to the largest mountain in the range on Isla's illusionary map.

“With that decided” says Ellahi “are you going now, or is there other stuff you need to do first?”

“Well we need to retrieve bauble for a fire elemental king” says Sofia, still looking critically over the map “But we have a somewhat oddball group on that.”

“And by oddball you mean?” Ellahi asks.

“Unreliable” snorts General Sofia disapprovingly.

“Funny” says Ebby with a grin

“Educational” says Jal with a smirk

“Michaels right” you say “we need to tell Instructor Tanner because she's the Arcane Studies teacher and he probably wants it for something icky and she'll know what. We also should tell Aunt Philly because she'll kick his butt.”

“I should do it alone” says Sera, looking miserable “I don't want any of you to get in trouble when hew calls me a liar.”

Hah, trouble, Mama Jal says trouble is just another way of saying fun. That always confused you a bit because you've been in trouble before and it was rarely fun.

“Instructor Ophilians office is closer” says Gilly “we should start there.”

“Now?” asks Sera “why don't we wait until-”

“Now” you say firmly.

XXX

“Well how long is Instructor Ophilian going to be away?” Gilly asks the school clerk – he's a monk or priest of Konig but he seems young, he's not much older than Gilly you're sure.

Aunt Philly's office was locked and she wasn't in her quarters. According to the clerk at admin she's away and he doesn't know why.

“I don't know” he says, looking annoyed “don't you have study to do?”

You all exchange a glance “Sure” says Michael “let's go and study somewhere, right everyone?”

“But I thought we were going to-” starts Thomas. You hurry him away before he can say anything he shouldn't.

Fortunately you find Instructor Tanner in a classroom tidying up after the last class off the day.

“Instructor Tanner!” you say with relief.

“Ah Princess” she says, looking up with a smile “forget your study book?”

Chesi closes the door to the classroom and then you all start talking at once.

XXX

Later, after an explanation that jumped around a bit, Instructor Tanner finally has the full story.

“So um, what sort of icky things is he doing?” asks Jenny, sound both curious and horrified.
>>
“Probably just selling them as components” says Instructor Tanner, looking thoughtful “But...”

“But what?” you press her. This could be bad...

It is, it's very bad.

“But maybe he's planning on using them to help him control Sera” says Instructor Tanner “there's a number of spells that her blood could be used for to help with that.”

“So he can just make her do whatever he wants?” asks Thomas, as Sera looks sick “that's horrible. I mean she could be going to class and suddenly she is his puppet?”

Instructor Tanner shakes her head “he'd bee foolish to use those sort of spells around here – too much chance someone would detect it. No he'll probably wait until Sera is away from the school if that's his plan.”

“So what do we do?” asks Michael “Have someone stick by Sera's side every hour of every day?”

“Ohhh!” says Chesi “pick me, I can do it.” She puts her arm around Sera's middle. Chesi can be really protective sometimes.

“Well” says Instructor Tanner “you could leave this to me, I can deal with him, but if I catch him it'll be his word against mine...”

“Or..?” asks Gilly.

“Or if we catch him in the act” says Instructor Tanner “particularly if he's asking for or trying to take anything from Mili, then he'll be locked up for good.”

“But that could be dangerous” points out Chesi “I think you should take care of him Instructor.”

“Or” says Sera softly “We wait until I'm away from school, then ambush him when he tries to control me – I mean, he'll be in a lot of trouble then, won't he?”

Instructor Tanner nods, then, strangely looks to you to make the decision.

A Paladin puts themselves in danger if needed, without fear.

“I'll do it!” you say loudly, then repeat yourself a bit more quietly when everyone turns to look at you.

“Are you sure?” asks Chesi

You nod “Yup”

“But how?” asks Thomas “I mean won't he be suspicious and stuff?”

“Well he's offering Sera help with her grades as an excuse” says Instructor Tanner “So how about Sera introduces Mili to him and tell him that whilst Sera isn't sure, she has a friend who also has angel blood and needs help with her grades.”

“I don't think he'll believe it” says Michael stubbornly “it's an obvious trap.”

“Greed can make people very stupid” offers Instructor Tanner.

“Besides” says Chesi “Mili needing help with her grades isn't that unbelievable” She grins at you.

“Hey!” you yell out “my grades are fine!”

“Your grades are fine if you're a boat” Chesi teases you “C as far as you can see.”

One shoving match and several hours later...

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Sera whispers to you as you both approach Instructor Gerluts chambers “I mean, I can do this if you're scared.”

“Paladings don't get scared” you insist, though the thought of some creepy guy you don't know taking your hair or even your blood does scare you a little. Ok a lot. Instructor Tanner said she'd be nearby but you can't see her.

Too late now though, Sera knocks on the door. Soon an old-looking man with thin grey hair plastered too his skull opens the door “Hello trainee Der'Hathwyne” he says. Ugh he has crooked yellow teeth “Who is your friend?”

You look at him to see how Konig would judge him as Sera says “This is Milerna, she's a friend and she...” her voice falters.

His eyes go a little wide and you can hear excitement in his voice as he says “of course, come in, come in...”

[Instructor Gerlut fails the following ideals: Self-Control; Hard Work; Kindness; Humility; Authority; Honour.]
>>
You enter his chambers, they smell of weird alchemy stuff. In his outer room is a bench will all sorts of glass bottles and stuff and old books. In some of the jars are preserved remains and body parts. You feel your necromancy powers stir, attracted to the dead stuff, you force them down.

“What a pleasure to meet you young Cadet J-er Milerna, I'm sorry I didn't catch your family name?”

“Jalweyen sir” you say, remembering to bow as you're supposed to with instructors.

“Jalweyen of course” he says “Though I must ask why Cadet Der'Hathwyne brought you here?” His voice sounds creepy, like hungry or something.

Sera looks down “I don't, I'm not sure if I want to I mean, it's sort of like cheating and I don't know if, I mean...”

Instructor Gerlut turns his attention to her “of course my dear of course” he says gently “it's a big decision. I can understand your hesitance, I mean you want to stand on your own too feet, you have to after all being a Der'Hathwyne” he emphasises the first part of that word “in this sad cruel world results matter, even more than hard work. And in school results mean grades of course, and if you've worked hard, don't you deserve to be recognised for your efforts? Even if your instructors don't see your worth I do my dear, I do.”

Sera just looks uncomfortable under his gaze, and even more so when he puts a wrinkled hand on her shoulder.

“Sera thought you might help me with my grades too” you say “I've got angel blood in me too and I thought if you're willing to help Sera you might help me too.”

Instruction Gerlut takes his hand from Sera and shuffles over to you, his long wizards robe dragging on the floor “How interesting” he says. His voice sounds all hungry like before, but he keeps his distance from you, like he's scared of you or something.

“I just, I just want to make my mama's proud” you say, your voice going all husky as you try to think of sad things. Like Chesi going away and never seeing her again.

“And I must be the best because everyone expects me to be the best but I'm not” you can feel your eyes getting wet.

“I want to be a Palading but if I fail at school I'll never be one” you sob and tears start rolling gently down your cheeks. You put your hands over your face.

“Of course child, of course” says Instructor Gerlut “It's terrible the pressures they put on you.” he pats you on the back and says kindly “now I'm sure I can help you, I just need you to help me a little first....”

“How?” you ask, lowering your hands.

“Well I help a lot of paladins and clerics who hunt evil sorcerers” he explains “and they find it really useful if...”

XXX

After Instructor Gerlut explains himself and you agree, he fetches an empty glass tube and a sharp knife with funny runes on it that you shouldn't be able to read but thanks to that book of necromancy you can. The runes are stuff that block out other magical interference and make clean cuts that won't get infected, and allow the blade to cut through flesh really easily – like its really, really sharp.

“I'll only need a few droplets of your blood” he explains, as he approaches. You hold your hand out wondering where Instructor Tanner is.

Instructor Gerlut bends own and firmly grasps your wrist in one hand, the knife in his other one. He brings the knife down and then there is a loud bang from the window and you all turn to look, only to see Instructor Tanner fall backwards, saying a lot of bad words.

You're all frozen for a moment and then Gerlut looks really scared, then angry. Before he can do anything Sera summons her glowing blue shield and charges at him, knocking him back and breaking his hold on your wrist.

He staggers then gasps out arcane words that your necromancy powers whisper to you means [Theft of Bloodright] and [Sicken].
>>
Sera's shield disappears and she doubles over and throws up her dinner, which stinks horribly. You feel like sicking up yourself but you manage to keep your food inside you.

“Foolish children” Instructor Gerlut scowls at you both “did you really think I'd fall for your trick? Did you think I wouldn't have a counter to your powers?”

You think he did fall for your trick, but...you feel a wave of dread pass through you. You can't feel your paladin powers any more!

[Angelic and Paladin powers temporarily inaccessible]

There's another bang on the window and you can see Instructor Tanner outside with arcane power dancing around her fist and smashing it against some sort of magic ward on the window.

“You'd better run now while you can” you croak out past the sick feeling “Because soon you're going to be in big trouble.”

Instructor Gerlut breathes deeply for several moments and bites hip lip hard enough that it bleeds, then points at you “if I walk out of here with the Princess of Oreia as a hostage, they won't dare try anything.” Then he looks over at Sera, who is still retching.

Instructor Gerlut raises his rune-covered knife “I only need one hostage” he says quietly “and they need to know I'm serious.”

“Sera run!” you yell. You rush at Gerlut but he backhands you away. Sera tries to flee but he grabs her hair and pulls hear head back, exposing her throat. He adjusts his grip on his knife, ready to bring it down. The banging on the window intensifies and you can feel a powerful arcane energy building outside.

“Mili!” yells Sera “run, get away!”

You're not running away, a Paladin helps other no matter how scared they are. And Sera is your friend and Gerlut is a big meanie!

You feel a much darker part of you whisper in your head -and he used magic to hurt you. He mustn't get away with letting his magic touch you. He's not worthy, let's show him what real power is-.

The words spill from your mouth and black spots appear in front of your eyes as your magic takes shape.

“There;s a skeleton inside all of us” you tell Gerlut “And yours wants to be free.” You pour all of your magic into this one spell, it has to work, you can't let him hurt Sera, a paladin protects people!

-And he needs to learn his place. Filth doesn't deserve to touch us, we're a Princess, we're the daughter of a Goddess. He scrabbles for power, we ARE power.-

The flesh of his hand holding the dagger peels away, leaving only red-coloured bones underneath. He screams, oh how he screams. Sera easily gets away and he grabs at his peeling flesh with his good hand as more and more of his arm bone is exposed, the spell exposing more of his skeleton every moment.

“Stop it, please!” he begs. Your vision is almost completely black now and you can barely see him.

You are aware of Sera standing next to you, one hand on your shoulder, shaking you and saying words to you. Words like “mercy” and “you're scaring me” - meaningless words.

With a loud crash the window breaks and a powerful arcane presence fills your senses, is this another threat?

“Mili, it's Instructor Tanner, Mili can you hear me? Oh this is a fucking mess, Der'Hathwyne get away from her.” More noises, meaningless or meaningful? Your head hurts.

Gerluts arm bones are exposed all the way to the shoulder now. Good. The flesh that was on his arm is crawling away.

“Mercy, Please!” he screams.

Does he deserve it?

Mercy? What is mercy? You wonder. Then you remember: Mercy is a Paladin not hurting people when they've been bad. Because no matter how bad someone is, they can be good if they try hard enough.

Wait, why is Instructor Gerluts arm all bones? Oh right...

You don't know how, but you stop your spell and Gerlut stops screaming, and starts whimpering.

You look around, there's Instructor Tanner, and Sera standing behind her, and looking scared.

“Sera” you say, taking a step in her direction “are you ok?”

Sera gasps, her face pale, and back peddles away from you. Why is she doing that? Gerlut isn't threatening her any more.

“Mili, Mili look at me” says Instructor Tanner as you approach.

“Sera?” you ask, taking another step in her direction “what's wrong?”

Sera's back hits the wall “Stay away from me?” she whispers “what are you?”

That's a silly question, you're Mili. Why is Sera scared of you?

“Sera?” you say again, softly this time, your cheeks are wet “what did I do wrong, Sera please don't be afraid.”

Sera's face is white and she raises her hands in front of her as if trying to summon her aegis, her shield, but it doesn't work.

“Sera...?”
