You are Adrian Brown, a twenty five year-old third-year medical student living an otherwise normal American life in search of employment. That was until you woke up inside a direct and demon-infested hospital with four other victims of short-term memory loss. Together, the five of you managed to somehow survive by negotiating with demons and defeating those that were not so amicable. And upon escaping, the all of you realized that it wasn’t as simple as that.

Task Force 666 a multinational organization dedicated to combating hostile demons and those that would use them for ill intentions. And the hellhole you just went through? That was your ‘job interview’, one that you passed with flying colors. When properly offered employment as an agent among the ranks, you accepted without too much hesitation or second thoughts. Duty to humanity and whatnot.

You are now a Devil Summoner in the service of the Task Force, and the de-facto leader of East Coast Operations Rookie Team Three. It is your duty to protect mankind from all threats involving the demonic, but how you choose to carry out your orders is entirely up to you. The choices you make shall not only affect those around you, but the fate of the entire world itself…

[7:42 PM Wednesday, June 24th 2015]

MacKay drives like a Christian late to Sunday morning mass, which is to say that he drives as recklessly as your mother used to when you were a kid. Fast, aggressive, completely faithful in the fact that if they were to die, they would be met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates. Such reckless devotion, but it was all within traffic laws, of course. But if the cacophony of honking was any indication, then the other drivers on the road weren’t too happy with his borderline ‘dukes-of-hazard’ skills.

Not that you’re complaining. If anything, you’re glad that he’s driving as fast as he can. The sooner you find Madison and run her through the twenty questions, the sooner this case is over and done with and you can vaporize the Each-Uisage without a second thought.

Ten minutes of Steve McQueen Simulator 2015 later, and MacKay pulls up in front of the address that Fitz punched into the GPS. It’s nestled in a quiet area of the town, just a mile deep off of the main road in a comfy suburban area. With the headlights on, you can make out the light purple hue of the horizontal sliding. The building itself has at least three floors, maybe a basement downstairs, but it’s hard to tell.

“Jesus Christ,” Fitz mutters as she steps out of the car. The gravel underneath her boots shifts with a noticeable crunch. “What kind of person chooses paints a house in that color? It’s ugly as hell.”

MacKay chortles. “I assure you that hell is infinitely uglier than this…peculiar choice of coloration. Still, it makes one wonder about the contractor’s state of mind.”

“He was either off his rocker or he hated his kids,” You wryly mutter, cutting them off with a pointed look. “Alright, we’re approach it this way…”

You pull out your cell phone with a deft motion. “Unless she’s somehow lost it, Madison still should have Alyssa’s phone. I’ll call and let her know that we’re here. Should give her some breathing room to get ready to head out.”

They nod and set themselves as nonchalantly as they can as you hold the phone up to your ear. The sound of the dial tone drones on for a good ten seconds, and you’re worried that she won’t pick up. But your worries are quickly put to rest when the drone cuts off with a shaky breath.

“H-hey, you’re…” Madison audibly swallows before continuing, “You’re here, right…? Ah…I…you wouldn’t call…”

“Yeah, we’re here,” You cut her off with a gentle but firm gesture. “Okay, so…can you come down here, or…are we gonna have to come up there?”

There’s a poignant moment of silence before she quietly whispers, “No, I’ll…just get the door.”

Madison hangs up. In less than a minute, you hear the sound of a deadbolt sliding against metal and the sound of the luck tumbling open. Fitz and MacKay take up positions behind you as the door opens by the tiniest of margins to reveal the girl you met at the beach this morning.

She looks like she’s been through hell. Her eyes are puffy, and from the lines going down her cheeks, it looked like she’d been crying. The person standing before you is a far cry from the haughty young lady that had driven you away from the charity stand this morning.

“Wait…” She frowns, pointing to Fitz and MacKay standing behind you. “Who’re these guys? I thought you said you were coming alone.”

Fitz raises an eyebrow. “Not likely considerin’ what we’re up against. Barely managed to drive it off the last time."

“Indeed,” MacKay exhales. “There is safety and security to be found in numbers. If he’s right and your life’s in danger, then it’s probably for the best.”

“We’ll keep you safe from harm. And I don’t make promises I don’t intend to keep,” You intone with a reassuring smile on your face. “The only thing you have to worry about is whether or not Alyssa’s gonna forgive you for taking her phone.”

“He’s not exaggerating either,” Fitz grins. “When Sawbones makes a promise, he intends to keep it. So relax your pretty little head. It’s gonna have to go through us before it gets to you.”

Madison’s face scrunches up, going past growing hope and straight to confusion. “Sawbones…?”

“Just a nickname, nothing more,” You assure her, before quickly adopting a more serious gait. “Now, if you don’t mind, it seems that you have answers to some questions we’ve been asking to ourselves. If you don’t mind, I’d like to have them answered…”

She looks uncertain of herself, grimacing and glancing down to the side. “…okay, fine. But…you wouldn’t happen to have some kind of…you know…tracking spell? Thingy? God, I sound like an idiot…but…do you know where the water horse is?”

Fitz and MacKay turn pointed gazes towards you. Running the various ramifications and byproducts of the possible responses, you eventually reply with…

“The Each-Uisage –it’s the demon’s proper name –,” You explain at her bewildered look, “It’s safely contained in our captivity a very long way away from here-”

You don’t even have time to finish your reply before Madison turns as white as a sheet. “You…you didn’t kill it...it’s alive-are you…you have to be…what the fuck…what the actual fuck?! Are you insane?!” Her voice has gradually increased in volume from a shell-shocked whisper to a flat-out hysterical screech.

“Oi, quiet down,” Fitz scowls, “Last thing we need is attractin’ anymore undue attention to ourselves. So shut your piehole before I shut it-”

MacKay is quick to interject. “Okay, I think we all just need to take a few deep breaths, and maybe have a few glasses of water to cool off. Miss, it’s in your best interests to keep quiet. We are trying to help you-”

“You’d do me a real solid if the damn thing is actually dead!” She scathingly reports. “You have…fucking…demons! Guns! You said you put it in captivity, so why the fuck isn’t it dead yet?!”

“Because it’s some kind of vengeful spirit,” You snap, completely dispensing away with the niceties with a blunt reply. Probably a stretch, but it's worth a shot considering the girl trapped inside of the demon. Madison quickly falls silent at your harsh words. “Those things aren’t going to go away easily. And if what little TV I’ve seen regarding the subject, killing is just gonna bring it back stronger, smarter and meaner much later. So yes, killing it is an option, but I’m not convinced that it’s gonna completely solve the problem…”

Your voice trails off. Something isn’t right, and from the way Fitz and MacKay shifted in their steps, they can sense it too.

Madison’s face is the model expression of complete and utter despair. Her hands twitch restlessly, gripping at invisible things by her sides, and she looks precariously unbalanced. One errant sneeze could’ve sent the girl sprawling onto the floor.

“…vengeful…spirit?” She whispers with a look of dawning horror in her eyes. You only spent a few semesters taking psych courses, but you can easily see the what's going on behind her look.

Fear. Realization. Horror. Hysteria. Panic.

All those feelings and more are the most visible ones that are breaking across her face. But the biggest one you can see, that outweighs every other emotion?

Guilt.

You hold a hand up for Fitz and MacKay to relax. This isn’t the situation for good/bad cop. The situation calls for delicacy and tact, because right now, it looks like Madison is a hop, skip and away from a full-blown panic attack. You’ve seen people enter into shock from traumatic experiences. It’s never pretty.

Recalling all of the courses you took on bedside care, you take a deep breath and exhale deeply before going to work.

“Madison? Oi, Madison. Look at me, okay? Look at me…” You snap your fingers in front of her face. She turns to look at you with a wide-eyed glance that you’re sure is going to haunt you in your dreams. “Okay, listen. If there’s something that you want to tell us, then go ahead and say it. If it’ll help us keep you safe from the demon, then I need to hear it. We’re trying to make this go away, but we need to know everything.

If you guys really, really, really fucked up with the roll, this is what would've happened. It was too interesting for me not to share it with all of you.

Tears start going down Madison’s face and her body starts to shake uncontrollably. “…I’m sorry,” She whispers. “…I’m so…sorry…”

You don’t even have time to react. Her hands shoot to give you a violent shove in the chest. Caught off-guard by the alacrity of her moves, you stumble backwards. Your arms flail wildly for purchase as your motion takes you to the edge of the stone steps-

Only for someone to break your fall with a weighed ‘OMPH’ as you collapse on to the bottom of the steps. MacKay, if his deep grunt of exertion was any indication. Falling-down ass-first on gravel is never fun, and always hurts.

By the time you manage to blink the stars out of your eyes, Madison’s taken off deeper into the house, running as fast as she can with Fitz chasing after her. “Why you little bitch! By the time I’m through with you, there’s gonna be nothing left for the demon to eat-!”

Okay, gonna have to take a quick break to go help jumpstart my parents' car. Damn thing died in the middle of the road. I'll be back soon, keep the thread bumped please.

In the meantime, have this. The others are coming soon.

Fitz

Age: 27 [Born May 5th 1989]
Gender: Female
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 184 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Dirty Blonde
Race/Ethnicity: Caucasian (German/Irish)

Division: East Coast IV
Commander: Landon Alger
Team: Rookie III
Roster: Active Field
Psyche: Stable, be wary of short temper

[You don’t even have time to blink as she lashes out in the split second after the whistle goes off. Temple, sternum, gut. Her hands are a blur as they strike with brutal efficiency and power. Wheezing for air, you collapse to the ground as the line of her lips curves upwards into her trademark smirk. She extends a helping hand towards you, with another round of sparring (read: kicking your ass) an inescapable inevitability.]

General: Fitz is a local from Northern Virginia, and is no stranger to getting her hands dirty. She’s spent the last seven years of her life in law enforcement after getting an associate’s degree from George Mason University. Thirty three weeks in the academy and one graduation with high honors later, and Fitz has been patrolling the North Virginian area until undisclosed events have made her seek other avenues of employment, leading her to the Task Force.

Personality: Fitz can be best described as one who “wears her emotions” on her sleeves, in that she isn’t hesitant or afraid to bluntly tell someone her honest opinion or insult them, whether or not it’s a superior or a comrade. She is friendly and outgoing enough with her comrades and thrives on the mutual banter exchanged between each other.

I can't find a link right now, but I assure you it's real.
Basically, from what has been translated, Lucifer and Merkahbah are both pawns of the big yellow guy, who returns as the final boss, in order to continue the eternal war for an unknown reason. Jonathan and Walter are either restored to their normal selves in the Peace route in order to fuse, or their spirits do in Anarchy, because they both have that power. Here's YHVH for some proof I'm not bullshiting you.

You disregard MacKay’s grim nod and Fitz’s raised eyebrow as you reach out towards Madison. You only hesitate slightly before gently placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Okay, okay…just…let it all out, okay? Nothing’s wrong with a good cry…”

That seems to have been her threshold. You only went for the shoulder. She went for the whole damn hug. One moment, you’re standing there somewhat awkwardly, and the next, you’ve been pulled into an extremely tight embrace. It’s a stark contrast to the hug you received from High Pixie. That one was done out of happiness. Right now, Madison is clinging onto you as if you were a life raft.

…okay, probably not the best choice of words.

But, you digress. As she sobs uncontrollably into your shoulder, you reach a tentative hand to gently pat her on the back. “Yeah…just…you do that…” You gently intone, “…just let it all out now…”

With your other hand, you make a pointed gesture towards your friends. You do your best to ignore the wet feeling of tears and mucus getting on your shirt and pantomime calling Brady and Victoria. “We need to check up just in case,” you hiss out of the corner of your mouth.

“On it,” Fitz says, punching the numbers into her COMP. She pauses, looking at you with a wry look before shrugging and heading off towards a less-crowded area. “C’mon, pick up guys…”

MacKay offers you a supportive smile and a thumbs-up gesture. “Good job,” he mouths, “Now just let her finish on her own…”

…that sounded so inappropriate, and you know what he originally meant. Jesus Christ, you’d think he’d know what was saying, but you aren’t about to comment. You seem to be doing a good job so far. Best not to interrupt that with your usual dry wit.

After what seems like an eternity, Madison eventually loosens her grip on you. You take a moment to fill your lungs with air and gingerly shift your upper body. Doesn’t hurt too much now, but they’re somewhat sore. Damn.

Ah well. Nothing that enough Advil won't fix by tomorrow morning. “Feeling better?”

She sniffs, running a sleeve of her shirt along her eyes, nose and face. By no means is she in a perfectly emotionally stable condition, but she seems to be doing much better. “…yeah, I’ll…I’ll be fine, I guess…”
You raise an inquisitive eyebrow. “Again, if you have something you want to say…”

Madison hesitates, looking around the neighborhood for anyone watching. You track her gaze. There’s no one on the streets, or on the sidewalk. As far as the eye can see, it’s just Madison, Fitz, MacKay and yourself.

As soon as she finishes checking, she gives you a somewhat mirthless smile and sits down on the doorsteps. You hesitate briefly before following her example and sitting right beside her. Adjacent to you, MacKay’s whipped out a small notepad and a pen, tapping the paper as he awaits dictation. And Fitz is still off talking with Brady and Victoria from behind the car.

Madison exhales deeply, and blows an errant strand of blonde hair out of her face. “…where should I start?”

And regarding MacKay...

I mentioned this earlier, but this isn't the games. People aren't locked into an alignment. They change constantly every day, every hour, every minute, every second. People aren't static. There's butterfly effect and chaos theory, essentially through our actions and choices. Depending on how well you play your cards, none of the party could ever go become entangled in an alignment.

How do I explain this...
Essentially, the Peace route is Persona. I'm dead serious. You fight Law, Chaos, and the Polytheists with the support of god who helps you permanently kill gods. On the Peace route, the power of friendship is real, and it helps you save Walter and Jonathan, from what has been translated. Seriously. At the end, you kill YHVH forever with the help of The Great Will, who YHVH is only a fragment of. The Anarchy Route, on the other hand has you kill EVERYONE. Your party, Skins, even Flynn before he's revived and brainwashed. At the end of the route, one of the girls is revived as your goddess, because supposedly YHVH went mad because he was alone, and the two of you recreate humanity. Stephen implies all you've done is start the cycle all over, just with YOU as YHVH's replacement. Again, we don't have the full story, but...Also, behold, YHVH's true form!
>>45870944
OH BOY.

DAMN IT, AGAIN?! WHY MUST I FORGET THIS EVERY TIME?

“Why don’t you start at the beginning?” You say with a comforting smile. “It’s as good a place as any.”
That gets a chortle out of her. At least, that’s what you think it was since it sounded more like a hiccup than anything else. “…you’re an older guy, right? I mean...you look like you’ve been out of college for a while, right?”

You shrug. “I’ve been done with undergrad for a long time. Not too long though, I’m nowhere near that old yet.”

She exhales. “...okay…ever been in a frat? Or a sorority?”

You shake your head. “No, but I do know how it works. I wasn’t the most social of individuals back then. Spent most of my time studying to get into medical school."

“Yeah…we…the girls have this thing, you know? Rituals, habits, all that shit we go through. Like…last year, we were supposed to do elections for sorority president…” Her face contorts into an unreadable expression. “…I was in the running, I’ve been with the group for two years…and Alyssa won, despite only having one year.”

As MacKay scribbles down the details as fast as he can, you offer the occasional nod and ‘ah’ as Madison starts talking. So she was probably resentful at Alyssa winning. That made enough sense. But as far as you can tell, Alyssa doesn’t have a connection to the murders aside from the fact that the victims came to her booth. When Madison was there.

Madison sighs. “Fuck…I was so fucking angry…I did a good job of hiding it though. Good of the group, right? And then came the time for us to hold rush events to get new members to join. That’s when I got assigned my Little in the fall semester of 2014…she was…”

Her voice trails off again, and her breath is a rattle. It takes her a few moments for her to speak again, this time with a strained voice, “...I was the Big for Brenda Murdock when she was a freshman last year."

Brenda Murdock. The mention of that name causes all the red flags and alarms in your head to start waving and ringing without signs of any pause. You instinctively cast your eyes towards MacKay, who’s long since stopped writing down in his notebook. The look in his eyes tells you that he’s thinking along the same lines.

Murdock’s dead daughter.

You must’ve had something show on your face. “…oh God,” Madison pales, “…you…you weren’t friends with her, were you? I…”

You grimace and wave her rambling off with a gesture. “Not…quite. The name just…startled me is all. Not a local name, I would think?”

She still seems uneasy, but she winds down a little bit. “Eh…yeah. It is…I think she said her family was Scottish…here, I think I still have a picture…”

Her hands fumble at her pockets, eventually pulling out a phone. Madison’s actual phone. She unlocks it with a press of her finger on the home pad and scrolls through her photos. Eventually, she finds what she was looking for. With hands slightly trembling she passes it towards you for a look.

It’s a photo of two girls arm-in-arm, smiling behind the main residence hall of Phi Alpha at whichever university this chapter happened to be stationed at. The blonde is undoubtedly Madison. As for the light brunette, she could’ve been the spitting image of Murdock if he was a college freshman girl.

They had the same eyes, and the same slightly lean jawline. The only thing that wasn’t Murdock’s was the light-green eyes, who probably belonged to the mother. It would’ve been an ordinary photograph if it weren’t for the fact that you could see the slightest bit of strain in Brenda’s face.

>"What happened to Brenda?"

You recognize that picture. You’ve seen that face before. It was chaotic, and you can’t guarantee it 100%, but you’re willing to bet your diploma that the girl trapped inside of the demon’s many forms was Brenda.

“…okay, I can kind of see where this is starting to go,” You mutter, rubbing the side of your head. Christ, what a clusterfuck. “…hang on a moment. Fitz!”
She pokes her head out from behind the car. “What is it?”

“I need you to verify something for me.”

“…okay, sure. Gimme a sec, Brady, Victoria.”
Seven seconds go by with the former policewoman jogging towards you And it only takes a quick look at the screen for her to violently recoil back. “Fucking what?!” She shouts, causing you, MacKay and Madison to wince at the vehemence in her voice. She grabs the cell phone roughly out of your hands and takes a good long look at the photo. “Sawbones, what the hell? That’s the girl that I saw-”

“I thought so,” You intone darkly. “I had a feeling, and I just wanted you to confirm it for me. Madison.”

The girl jumps at the mention of her name. She quails physically at the intense looks that the three Devil Summoners are giving her. “Y…yes?”

You ask it bluntly without any sort of niceties attached. “What happened to Brenda?”

“…I…”

“I’ll ask again. What. Happened. To. Brenda?”

Madison has to audibly swallow a lump in her throat and take one, two deep breaths before she can speak. “…it was…we came for the summer, right? To do Alyssa’s fundraiser for whatever. She came along with us since she was still on a probationary phase. Wanted to do as much as she could even though she wasn’t a full member.

“…I was…still mad at Alyssa for...taking my spot…and…”

“And what about you?” You ask.

She shrinks in on herself, curling up into near-fetal position as best as she could on the steps. “…I was...erm...takingitoutonBrenda.”

(cont.)
>>

You do your best not to show any sign that your temper is starting to boil, but you can’t say the same for the others. Fitz looks ready to blow a gasket, and MacKay’s countenance was slipping from “New” to “Old” Testament.

“Keep going,” You nudge her, not quite hard but neither are you gentle about it.

“…what do you want me to say? That I was a cunt towards her?” Madison looks at you with another helpless expression on her face. “Fuck…I don’t know what I was thinking…I was just so…angry. Like…I couldn’t…”

“Okay, so you were venting your frustrations using Brenda,” Fitz bluntly says, with a scowl on her face. “Terrific. Real fuckin’ classy, princess. Now explain what she’s got to do with this shitstorm.”

Madison’s lips purse deeply, and her eyes screw shut. “…I…shouldn’t I have a lawyer for this?”

“It’s not wise to play smart with us, Miss,” MacKay intones gravely. “Confess your past actions so that we can figure out what to do from here.”

“Ah…but…”

“Do you want to live?” You bluntly ask. “Answer me: yes or no? Well…do you?”

Curled in on herself, her reply is a weak ‘yes’. Barely audible, but manageable nonetheless.

“Then tell us what happened.”

Madison’s eyes are empty as she speaks in a hollow voice. “…we were on the beach a month and a half ago, it was cloudy…might’ve been thundering at one point? I don’t remember. Late at night, we snuck out. Brenda wanted to…fast-track her initiation into the sorority. Become a full member. She kept asking me, and asking me, thinking if she did all the shit I told her to do and put up with me, that she’d get in before the start of next year.

“So I told her that…if she could swim at least…half a mile out…into the water and come back, she’d be in, no…no questions asked. I’d stop…treating her like…I wouldn’t be...”

“And she never came back, did she?” You quietly whisper, hands gripped tight in an iron grip.

“It wasn’t my fault!” Madison cries out, face pressed against both of her hands. “The weather took a turn for the worse, and when I tried to go try and help her…I…I couldn’t do anything. All I could do was run-”

What sounds like a gunshot breaks through the air, startling the girl out of her position. The pencil in MacKay’s hands has turned into two splintering halves, and the kind preacher’s face is almost as angry as a cathedral gargoyle. No, not even that. The wrath of God in all its fury. It's actually quite terrifying. To see a gentle man roused to anger.

She continues on, ignorant of everyone’s rising ire. “I thought I was going to go to prison. It wasn’t hazing, I swear. So I kept my mouth shut when everyone was asking where Brenda went. It was the next morning when the lifeguards found her body. She’d drowned to death. I…I’m not a bad person. I went to the funeral, helped Alyssa with her charity. She wasn’t supposed to come back! Not as a…demon…she was supposed to be dead-”

Fitz grabs Madison by the front of her shirt, lifting the girl a good foot off the ground. She tries to resist, futilely kicking and clawing at your comrade Devil Summoner, but all it seems to do is make her angrier. If that was even possible at this point.

“You little shit,” she snarls. “You’re the reason why this monster is attacking. As far as I'm concerned, you helped cause the deaths of seven people, includin’ a fucking thirteen-year old kid. Not to mention the other Phi girl losing her arm. Give me one good reason why I just shouldn’t throw you into the fucking water right now and feed you to the damn spirit.”

“I…I didn’t know!” Madison shrieks. “Demons aren’t supposed to be real! Ghosts aren’t supposed to be real! When did this…why is this happening…oh God…”

You grimace, standing up with a quick spring of the legs. “Fitz, put her down.”

She looks at you incredulously. “Sawbones, but she-”

“I know. This isn’t going to get us anywhere…just…dial it down a notch…for now, at least.”

“…fine.” She declares, unceremoniously dropping Madison to the gravel. The girl sputters and wheezes for air, but scrambles back in a panic when Fitz rounds on her from above. “…you’re really lucky that Sawbones is a whole lot nicer of a guy than I am. Because I for one am nowhere near as merciful as he is.”

She spits into a nearby flower bush and stomps away. Madison turns to you with a grateful look in her eyes, but you don’t return it. MacKay offers no words of assurance either. He's just muttering prayers, fingering a rosary and something about a "life taken before its time".

Okay…shit. Now what? Everything’s laid bare, and you’ve got the demon and motive tied together. Problem is that you have no idea what’s coming-

“Sawbones, we’ve got a problem!”

…you just had to have spoken, didn’t you?

Fitz sprints back into view with a disturbed look on her face. “It’s Victoria and Brady! The demon’s woken up, the spells aren't working any more, and it is not happy.”

Your name is Lawrence Brady, Englishman computer genius and debonair Devil Summoner, and right now, you’re up the creek without a paddle. And it’s raining shit.

The first sign of trouble you ran into was the fact that you’d long since run out of chewing gum. Without it, you’re just a tad bit more skittish than usual. You pace, looking for something to do with your hands. The best you could do was pull up a bit of script on the COMP that you’ve been working on. Not much you could do with the tiny interface, but it’s better than nothing.

You already got told off twice by Victoria to stop pacing. How was it that the Yanks said it? Three strikes and you’re out? It is with that philosophy in mind that you made the executive decision to plonk your rear end down and mull over the coding.

The second sign of trouble was when the demon woke up and Victoria started to panic. Something about the spells just bouncing off the demon now. Just great. And now it’s struggling against the ropes.

Whelp, Murduck shouted about getting a gun from his boat. And with Victoria calling the others for back up, that leaves you responsible to deal with the demon. Joy.
With a sigh, you activate the Devil Summoning Program and materialize your demons into the physical realm. Jack Frost and Mokoi greet you with pleasant waves and cheerful ‘hello’s before they realize the thrashing demon behind them. They promptly retreat to hide behind your legs, quivering and shaking in fright.

You sigh. “You’ll get ice cream at the end. Mint flavored, Ben and Jerry’s.”

That seems to motivate them. They await your orders…

This is an aquatic demon. If years of playing and bootlegging old Pokémon games on your computer has taught you anything, it’s that water pales in comparison to electricity.

“Understood, Master,” Mokoi bobs his head drunkenly at your orders, before pointing the tip of his boomerang at the thrashing horse demon. “Zio~!”

You scrunch your nose up as the scent of ozone fills the air. A blue arc of lightning rockets towards the demon, striking a nice big scorch mark in the monster’s flank. It neighs in pain and thrashes even more fiercely, but the rope holds. What was it that Murdock said it was? Unicorn hair twine?

You shake your head. Whatever it was, it’s doing a damn good job of restraining the demon. Hopefully Victoria gets off the bloody phone soon. You could really use the backup.

No such luck with the paralysis. The demon’s still thrashing around like a bronco in heat, making a complete mess of Murdock’s boating shed. You wince as an expensive piece of equipment comes crashing down to the ground to shatter into a million pieces.

Say…Adrian’s the one footing the bill, right?

Well, then there’s no point in holding back anymore. It’s your job to stop the bugger before he buggers all of you.

You order Jack Frost to give the demon a good whack across the head. With a valiant cry of “TALL-HE HO”, it sprints as fast as it can on its tiny legs and pulls its fist back for a haymaker. The snow fairy lets the strike fly, and it hits the demon with a nasty CRUNCH.

That had to have left a mark. Hardening the ice coating their fists is something that the Frosts do. You know that for a fact. The difference is quite stark: between being playfully battered for ice cream to being hit with an ice ball at an ungodly speed.

Had to have left something, didn’t it?

Oh, that had to have hurt. Really gave the bastard a good smack across the face. Fairly sure that teeth and blood went flying in the aftermath. Real good show, Jack! Real bloody good!

Still, you should probably do something. Your demons look at you anxiously as if waiting for your move. A side glance to Victoria sill shows her relaying information to Fitz, if the crass voice was any indication. And Murdock’s still tearing up his boat looking for that aforementioned shotgun.

It appears that it’s your turn. You should definitely do something now.

You decide to do what any sensible person would do in your position, which is to say that you do what Adrian did back at Cocytus when there was a bomb.

You pass it up the chain of command like the dutiful soldier you are.
“Brady?” Alger’s voice comes through the speakers slightly distorted. “Why are you calling? And what the hell is up with that racket?”

“Sir, listen to me, please?” You voice is as clam as it can be as you make a slow and steady tactical backpedal. The demon’s thrashing is getting more violent. You duck as a tackle goes flying over your head. “We’ve got trouble…”

>You explain to Alger how deep in the shite you are.

“Murdock?” Alger says quizzically. “I recognize the name. He’s one of the best Devil Summoners Europe’s ever had in the service. He retired years ago in Scotland last I heard. What’s he doing here?”

“Something about his daughter’s funeral and being caught up in the attacks,” You answer dutifully. “Pure coincidence. And he can’t just ignore the attacks if he can’t do anything to help.”

Alger grunts. “That’s reckless of him, considering he doesn’t have a team of demons. But he’s got balls, I’ll give him that. Alright, where’s Adrian? How many men do you have with you?”

“Pursuing a lead with MacKay and Fitz, and it’s just me and Victoria featuring Murdock down here.”

That elicits a string of curses. “You’ve got to be shitting…great. Keep it down as long as you can. I’m heading there myself. From what data you’ve sent me, this thing’s a bit more dangerous than I anticipated. I have no doubt that you can handle it, but it’s gonna be hell, and the odds aren’t in your favor.”

“Understood sir-”

The only response you’re able to squeeze out is a panicked “WHAT THE FUCK-” before a tangible and violently sharp gust of wind tears at your body.

>Warning: Enemy demon has deployed move registered in database as [Zanma]

It’s sharp enough to tear your clothing and leave tiny scratches and lacerations all along your exposed skin. Bleeding from what feels like a thousand cuts, you stagger backwards on your feet. Fucking hell, that hurts! Ow, ow, ow!

> -6 HP.

“It can still use magic while it’s tied up,” You mutter. “Of cours it can. Fan-fuckin’-tastic that is. Absolutely smashing…”

You quietly decide to forgo bitching about how the only people with Dia spells are not with you at the moment. Maybe it’s time to go back to Cocytus for some extra demons. Or stock up on drugs and life stones. And maybe, just maybe…hold out long enough for Alger to show up.

Gritting your teeth, you stand back up on your feet. “Is that all you’ve got, you barmy horse?! I can do this all day!”

The end of your sentence is punctuated by loud BOOM, and the demon recoils violently. Clenched in Murdocks’ hands, the ends of a humongous double-barreled shotgun mist slightly in the cool night air. The former agent’s eyes are alight with fire and he laughs as he advances. “You’ve got guts, laddie! I’d normally never give your kind the time of day, but you’re alright in my book! Now stand there and watch how a real Devil Summoner goes about killing demons!”

…well, that happened.

Victoria rushes over towards you with a worried look in her eyes. “Are you okay? That looked like it hurt!”

You grunt. “Not as much as my pride. Now, do you think that you can freeze the demon shut?”

>Warning: enemy has deployed the move registered in the database as [Concentration].

She runs the math in her head before nodding. “I can do that. Gimme a second…Gremlin! Tagata Manu!"

The demons respond to her commands quickly and without hesitation. Ice begins to rapidly form against the Each-Uisage’s body. Since they’re an off-shoot of the kelpie demon species, they share the same resistance to Ice magic. Thing is, they never did specify whether or not they would resist being encased in ice.

And Victoria isn’t one to be apparently left in the dust by her demons. She pulls her own pistol out of her holster and fires off a shot at the demon’s head. Sadly, she misses. The bullet flies off into the boathouse and pings off one of several fishing trophies on a distant rack. You instinctively duck at the sound of the ricochet.

“Aw crap,” Victoria complains as she ducks down behind a crate. “I knew I should’ve taken more shooting classes at Cocytus…”

“Complain later, fight more,” You dryly retort before clearing your throat and raising your voice dramatically. “There's always a chance to train at base after our missions. But first...now, my demons…!”

Jack Frost seems a bit too relieved to be helping construct the ice trap with the others. Not to suggest that he’s a coward in any way shape or form. That’s a load of rubbish. As far as you’re concerned, Jack Frost is the bravest demon in all of the group…once he’s properly motivated.

But you digress. His added magic spells have significantly sped up the production of the trap. And as far as you're concerned, he's done a brilliant job.

As for Mokoi…if it isn’t broken, than it’s best not to try and fix it. With a drunken salute, the demon obeys your orders and gestures with the tip of his boomerang, “Zio!”

Ozone, blue lightning, and all that usual good stuff happens and the beast roars again as electricity runs along its clammy skin. You pray to whatever higher power that’s currently looking over you for spell to have caused a stun…

Someone somewhere is looking out for your British arse. You offer a brief and silent ‘thank you’ to the benevolent god(ess) or god(esses)s that have turned the tide in your favor. Because the Zio spell that Mokoi fired off at it? It stuck. The demon’s immobile, and it can’t move.

You bump fists with your Australian death demon. “You cheeky little kipper…well done! You’re getting double scoops as soon as we get back to home base.”

Mokoi’s eyes stare off into the distance. “I want to go to Istanbul,” It says wistfully, with a voice of rustling cloth. “I hear it’s quite nice this time of year.”

“That’s a bit outside our budget for now, so how about this: Turkish delight from the best store we can find. That sound good?”

“You know what I like, Mister Summoner.”

There’s nothing more satisfying than the sound of the bullet perforating through demon flesh and exiting out in a bloody spray. For the briefest of moments, your hearing aid goes into a feedback loop, and you wince sharply at the sudden influx of noise. But it easily breaks down quickly enough and the noise levels return to acceptable parameters.

There’s a nice hole the size of a quarter in the Each-Uisage’s hindquarters, and it’s rapidly leaking blood from both entry and exit point. Demonic ichor spills to the ground, steaming with every drop that hits the wooden floor of the dock. It’s breathing is labored as it struggles against the electricity.

>Warning: Demon is no longer afflicted with [Stunned].

“Not like I needed it anyway!” Murdock retorts as he fires off another blast with his shotgun, moving closer all the while. The man reloads quickly, you’ll give him that. “All the firepower I’ll ever need, right here in me fingertips!”

“Murdock, I wouldn’t recommend-”

You don’t even have time to finish your sentence.
>Warning: Demon used move registered in database as [Mazanma]

It’s like someone set a tornado spinning within the small confines of the boating house. You’ve seen demo videos of what a normal spell does, but this one is ‘roided up like a weightlifting twat. [Concentrate] is one smarmy dick move.

If Zanma felt like the flesh was being cut, then a Concentrated Mazanma feels like the wind is flaying your exposed flesh from your bones. Even behind cover, you can’t hold back a roar of pain as splinters embed themselves in your clothing. Victoria isn’t doing so hot either, judging from her high-pitched shrieks. Not that you blame her. These things hurt!

(cont.)
>>
Mokoi slams to the floor, unconscious. Poor sod was weak against Force spells, and this one seemed to be the death of him. Jack Frost screeches “HEEEEEE-WHOOOAAAAAAAAAA” as the winds send the snowman spiraling across the room. Victoria’s demons haven’t fared any better. Gremlin is down and Tagata Manu’s heavily injured.

And then the winds stop abruptly. Jack Frost comes crashing down into a field of debris. Victoria is completely passed out, bleeding from over a dozen tiny cuts all over her body. And Murdock…

The man looks like he’s been put through a shredder. You’re not sure how he’s still breathing, but the resilient fucker still is. Using his goddamned shotgun as a cane to prop himself up, the absolute madman.

Still, you’re not as much concerned about him as you are about the Each-Uisage. The wind’s completely shredded the ropes, leaving it wounded, but mobile in its own right. It fixes you all with a baleful stare and undergoes the acid sequence of a transformation again.

Having already seen it happen once, you have a better time making out the various forms. Land horse, attractive man, albatross-

Wait, what the fuck? You blink once to make sure you weren’t hallucinating from blood loss. Was that…a girl?

“…Brenda?”

Murdock’s whisper is little more than a raw, raspy gurgle, but you can hear the man’s emotions. Shock, disbelief and…horror? The fuck? Did he know this demon or something?

For a moment, it looked like the monster was going to stop, regarding the man with a curious look. But then it unfurled its wings and took off, crashing through a hole in the roof and sending more debris across the ruined boathouse.

…thank God you’re not paying for that.

Everything hurts, and you and Victoria, along with your demons, are down and out for the count. With no supplies. You make a mental note to give the quartermaster an ear-bashing as you reach for your COMP with bloody fingers…

He curses. “You have got to be joking. The timing could not be worse…”

“Such is life for us misfortunate rookies. Thrown into the deep end…you said we were the Men In Black, feat. Demons, right? Are you sure we aren’t XCOM?”

“This isn’t the time for jokes. How badly injured are you? How long has it been since the demon’s left?”

You take a weary glance at the ruined boathouse. “All our demons are down, and Victoria’s knocked out. Murdock…he’s heavily wounded, but still conscious. We got hit by a Concentrated Mazanma. Cocked up all our brilliant plans to trap the demon in a block of ice and really cut us up real bad…”

“Shit. I’m sending Alger to your location, okay? Hang in tight-”

You scowl, cutting him off with a curt tone of voice. “Negative. You take him. We’ll be fine on our own. I’ll just…you know, call the hospital. Shouldn’t be too hard to come up with a bullshit excuse.”

“You really are bleeding out right now. You have to be to think that I can justify taking Alger and leave you bleeding to death in Murdock’s boathouse.”

“Eh, it’s not that bad,” You reply as you lift up the shredded remains of your shirt. Paper cuts, the lot of them. Stings something awful, but nothing life-threatening. Besides, you need him if your’e gonna want to beat the Each-Uisage”

“No. That’s unacceptable. As your team leader, I’m ordering you to comply. I’m sending Alger in to patch you up and extract you. Just hang in tight while he gets there, understood?”

“…you drive a hard bargain,” You eventually reply. “Fine. We'll let Alger come get us. Just get the bastard for me, will ya?”

(cont.)
>>
“Yeah. For both of you. I can promise you that much, so just hang on, alright? Brown out.”

The COMP communication relay cycles down without any further word. It’s gonna take Alger some time to get here, so you best fill it with something to do.

Propping yourself up into a more comfortable position, you pull out the programming script on your COMP and start going through the program, searching for errors and loopholes in the code as your foot errantly taps against the wooden floorboards…

IV and Final's Lucifer are a different guy form the Lucifer we normally see.

Besides Demi-Fiend was made in the true Lucifers image. The whole point of shoving giant powerful worms down his throat filled with demonic power.
