Some physical descriptions of Ace and his social connections http://pastebin.com/PTVpM81P

Welcome back to WrestleQuest! This is a SOL Quest in which you take the role of young Robin Winters, as he tried to make it big in the crazy world of pro-wrestling under the persona of The Ace.

Last thread, you enjoyed a night out drinking after the show with your TWA co-workers, made a few new friends, and got the number of the cute (albeit socially inept) girl who sings your theme music! You also fell asleep in your clothes due to pure exhaustion.

>HP: 54/70

You awake lying at the foot of your bed, and immediately realising you passed out almost as soon as you walked through your apartment door last night. Oh well, your next show is on Monday, so you have a full weekend to yourself to do whatever you want. And you find yourself with a lot of options on how to spend the day.

Hooray, time for new thread. Hope we don't end up breaking hearts here.

Good to see the descriptions up, helps a lot. I'm impressed Kimberly is able to keep that build and also be under 100. Hope she's keeping healthy.

>Call David

Better to get to know some of our friends more, right? Maybe we can go work out with him.

As an aside, I'm assuming HP and Stamina build up after rest/not working out for periods of time?

You decide to give David a brief call. You remember that last night "Kingpin" said he would "think about" being your tag team partner for Friday's show, but he didn't promise anything. You suppose spending some more time with the guy could sway him to making a decision.

As the phone rings, you hear David's voice on the other end, with a lot of noise in the background. Engines whirring, gears grinding, and a lot of shouting. "Can't talk now, Ace. Going out to the bar again tonight. Meet me there, okay?" With that, you hear a click as David hangs up on you. Oh well, at least he extended an offer to hang out later. You wonder what all the noise in the background was about, though.

Now you're left standing in your apartment like a dummy. You should probably start planning your days in advance. Oh, who are you kidding? That's never going to happen.

You decide to hit up the mall for the day. After all, you just earned a new paycheck, and you could probably afford to pick up more wrestling gear or something. At the very least, you can hang out in the food court or something.

You arrive at the mall, and make a bee-line for the Wrestling Gear store that somehow manages to stay open despite being so damn niche. Not that you're complaining, it's great for you. The owner welcomes you with a smile. "Ah, ACE! Good to see you! I got some more stuff in, if you're interested!"

You purchase your items from the store and stuff them into a bag and begin wandering around the mall. As you're walking by, you see a familiar face. Abby is passing by the stores, with a guitar case slung over her shoulder. She is happily humming to herself before she catches a glance at you. Your eyes meet, and she begins to panic. She frantically looks around for somewhere to run off to, and opts for the closest store... Babies 'r' Us. She sprints inside, too nervous to strike up a conversation in a public place.

>Follow her inside and try talking to her.
>Keep moving. You can text her or something later.

You decide to give Abby a little space to work out her shyness, but send her a text asking to meet at the food court. You make your way up to the court and set out a table for yourself. You set your bag down beside your chair as you order your food. It isn't long before Abby joins you, as you're half-way through wolfing down a cheeseburger. Once she sees you, she tries to casually lean on the back of a chair to look cool. Instead, her weight pulls the chair to the ground, and she almost collapses along with it. She tries hard to regain balance, but the weight of the guitar case on her back makes it difficult. It's painful to watch. Finally, she composes herself and clears her throat.

"Oh A-Ace, I didn't see you there... yes, I did..." She looked down, sullenly. "B-but I wasn't avoiding you or anything! I was just... buying something in there... for my... son? No, that's not right... Nephew!"

"Oh, boy or girl?"

"I-it's a girl!"

"But you said Nephew."

There is a short silence, then Abby breaks into a giggle. "I don't have a nephew." She takes the seat opposite you and sets down her case.

"So, what's with the case?" you ask.

"Oh, that? The band's performing a gig at the bar down the street tonight. You know, The Square Bar?"

Yeah, it's where you drank with the crew last night, and where David invited you later tonight as well. Seems to be a popular spot.

Abby's eyes drifted away from you. You realise what she's about to ask, and it makes her nervous. "W-would... would you... like..."

"Would I like to come?" you finish the sentence for her, causing her to turn red.

"Y-yeah... that. Would you?"

>Sure, me and David will be hitting the bar tonight anyway.
>Of course, I wouldn't miss a chance to see you play!

>[YOUR CONNECTION WITH ABBY HAS RISEN TO RANK 2]

"Y-you will?" Abby seemed genuinely surprised. "I mean, duh... of course you will, you're a cut-uh, cool guy. You go to bars." Abby let out another nervous laugh as she stood up and slung her guitar case back over her shoulder. "Anyway, I need to get going, so... I like you-NO WAIT, I MEAN... I'll see you later. That's what I meant to say... I'm shutting up now..." With that she hurried away from your table, glancing back and speeding up each time when she saw you were still looking at her.

As you finish up your burger, you wonder if you should invite anyone else out to the bar tonight. It was David who extended the invitation to you in the first place, so you don't know if he'd mind you bringing others along. Honestly, it may depend on who you invite, if anyone. It would definitely be rude to drag any more than one person along with you. Either way, you have time between now and then to chill out and call someone if you choose to.

Before going back to your place, you drop Kimberly a text message inviting her to come along tonight. The message you receive back is exactly as expected.

>From: Kimberly
>OMG Yesss! Last nite was fun! C U guys there! x

She reply was sent within two minutes of your message. She was clearly excited by the offer. You drive back to yours, drop the gear you bought in your closet, and start changing out of the clothes you slept in yesterday for another night on the town.

>LATER THAT NIGHT
When you arrive at the bar with Kimberly, you see that David is already hunched over in a booth with a stiff drink, while the band is setting up on stage, not much of a crowd. You decide to wave to Abby, who blushes and looks away. Seeing you wave, Kimberly practically drags you into the booth.

"Ace, glad you could make it," David welcomes you. "Princess. You're here too."

"What? Not happy to see me?" Kimberly joked.

David's face remained completely deadpan. "I don't really give you much thought." Ouch, cold. The Kingpin really needs to work on his social skills.

"Sorry about earlier," David says to you. "I was... working."

"Good. I like hanging out with you too." David's dour face doesn't seem to evoke any affection, but you believe him. David takes a swig of his drink as Kimberly pokes your arm.

"So, the band's playing here tonight? That's pretty neat. I've never actually seen them play when I wasn't in character or behind the curtain."

You nod in agreement. "Yeah, Abby mentioned that they would performing here."

Kimberly's head perked up. "Oh, so I guess that means you called her..."

"Actually, we just ran into each-other in the Mall earlier," you answer.

Kimberly looks over to Abby, who is setting up an amp on stage. "Oh, so... are you going to call her?"

"I think she's more David's type, anyway. Between the two of them they've got a normal range of emotions."

"Ha, very funny," David replied, deadpan as ever. You're not even sure if he's sarcastic or genuinely found it funny. Kimberly meanwhile, is in stitches.

More people begin piling into the bar as the band is finally ready to get under way. Abby approaches the mic and addresses the audience with a level of confidence you didn't expect from her. "Hey everyone, we're The Razor Ramones, and tonight we'll be playing a few of our regulars. We also play at the local TWA shows every Monday and Friday, so be sure not to miss those, they're awesome. Anyway, let's rock!" She picks up a guitar and the band breaks into a few songs you've heard from them before while backstage as the shows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvH7c-6agPE

You're weirded out by the Abby you see on stage, bouncing along with a ton of energy, smiling and shredding on a guitar. You'd never imagine her to be the shy girl you know. Perhaps she plays a character on stage, just as you do with The Ace. That's one way to get over social anxiety. You and David move to the bar counter to grab some more drinks, and to also get a better look at the band. David taps you on the shoulder and points out someone in the crowd. "Isn't that Jenny Deth?"

Sure enough, Jenny's in the crowd, rocking along to the band with her usual tenacity. "Maybe you should talk to her? Invite her to our booth? You seem to like inviting women to things."

>Not a bad idea, David. We could get to know her more.

"You're scared of her?" David asks, hands deep in his pockets. "I'm disappointed, Ace."

"Trust me, Kingpin. If you ever talked to her, you'd be scared too."

The crowd pops as the band finish up one of their songs. In a rush, Abby grabs the microphone and speaks to the people on the dancefloor. "Thank you all so much for coming out here tonight! This next song goes out to a friend of mine who's here tonight! Ace, this one's for you!"

Oh, no.

Kimberly rolls her eyes. "Yeah, I'm sure that's why she just dedicated a song to you. Not because she was trying to be romantic or anything."

"The song's not romantic," David replied, "don't be stupid, Princess."

"Wow, you don't mince words, do you?" you say. David shrugs.

You decide to drop the subject and move on to other topics of conversation. Don't want to open a can of worms with Kimberly. "So Kingpin, about that tag team-"

"Thinking about it," David interjects, before taking a swig of his drink.

There is an awkward silence as you try to work out what to say next, but you are thankfully saved by a voice from behind.

"WELL, *hic* WHO DO WE HAVE HERE?"

Scratch that "thankfully" part, you just recognised the voice. It's Jenny Deth. And worse, she's drunk. "SO WHAT ARE MY GOOD FRIENDSH FROM TEE DUBYA AYY DOING HERE?" She slinks into the booth and slings an arm around Kimberly. "AND WHY WASN'T I INVITED?"

"You're here anyway, aren't you?" David asks.

"OH YEAH, WITH THE MASK! THAT'S RIGHT! AND THIS IS THE PRINCESS, AND THAT'S THE GUY WITH THE SHORT MATCHES!" She starts laughing and banging on the table, almost causing herself to slip. David sighs and removes himself from the booth, and grabs Jenny by the wrist, propping her up. "HEY, JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

"I'm taking you to get a drink of water. You're drunk off your ass and making yourself look like an idiot."

Jenny blinked, surprised that someone spoke so boldly to her, and allowed David to bring her to the bar.

"I can see that now," Kimberly sighs. "It makes me feel a little guilty for being too scared of the guy to ever really talk to him back in the dojo. All the talk of him being a gang leader really feels silly now."

As David tries to sober up Jenny Deth, you and Kimberly keep chatting until the night winds down, and the band finishes up their setlist. You have to say, Abby and the rest of the band have some serious talent, especially considering pretty much all of them are adept with at least two instruments. Sometimes you think that THEY'RE the main attractions for the TWA shows. They certainly drew a hell of a crowd tonight.

As things finish up, Abby hesitantly approaches the booth. Once she sees that you're alone with Kimberly, she tenses up and nervously rubs her left arm. "S-so, did you hear my shoutout to you?"

"Yeah, I did."

Abby beamed a wide smile. "T-thanks. That means a lot to me..."

"I'm sure it does," Kimberly mumbled, taking Abby aback.

You hurriedly try to avoid any aggression between the two women. "Uh, this is Kimberly. I don't think you two have properly met before, have you?"

"Y-yeah... It's good to meet you, Princess," Abby bowed in respect of Kimberly. Kimberly raised an eyebrow in return.

"Uh, you know I'm not an actual Princess, right? You don't have to bow..."

Abby's face turned red. "Oh... of course... sorry..." her eyes darted around the room, as she noticed the band carrying equipment back to the van. "Gah, I forgot! I need to help them out... talk to you later, Ace. It's nice to meet you Kimberly..." Abby just about stops herself from bowing again before sprinting back to the band.

Kimberly giggled. "Wow, she's kinda... shy, isn't she? I don't know why I was so worried-I mean, I don't think she's the type to usually chase after guys."

The two of you leave the bar, and find David standing in the street, with his usual bored expression, as Jenny in hunched over with what appears to be a kitten.

"Oh god, she's killing that kitten!" Kimberly exclaims. "Wait, never mind, she's just playing with it... wait, why isn't she killing it? Isn't that Jenny Deth?!"

>We should probably give David a hand. Jenny's a lot to handle, even when sober.
>Let's get out of here before we get roped into babysitting her too.

I'm down with not cock-blocking David, but maybe he wants help? Let's duck out of sight and text David asking if he's OK with Jenny or needs to be saved.

And thus, we delay. There will have to be a lot of talking going on.

Man, I really want to see what's going on with those guys. I'm sure it's incredibly adorable. But I do want to let things happen, if in fact, they happen.

This seems like the safest way to let things happen. If he needs help, he can let us know

I love how Kimberly switches from Smart to Mark, like she hasn't quite made the transition from a fan to being in the business.

You wave to grab David's attention, making sure that Jenny doesn't notice you. When he does turn his head in your direction, you try mouthing silently towards him.

"Do you need any hel-"

"YES. GET OVER HERE." He yells in return.

You sigh as you and Kimberly make your way over to David and Jenny. "What's going on over here?" you ask.

"She found a stray cat. Now she is playing with the stray cat."

You look down to see the drunken Jenny transfixed with a small stray tabby.

"LOOK AT IT! IT'S SOOO CUTE!" Jenny screams between hiccups. An unexpected side to the extreme hardcore wrestler.

"I didn't think you were the type to love cats," Kimberly muttered, before immediately hiding behind your shoulder out of fear of offending Jenny.

"WHAT JUST BECAUSE I'M TOUGH I CAN'T LIKE CUTE THINGS? YOU DON'T KNOW ME!"

"You should probably stop playing with that stray," David says to her. "It's dirty, and you're only fostering dependence."

"MAYBE I WANT IT TO BE DEPENDANT!" She said, lifting the cat in the air. "I'M GOING TO ADOPT IT!"

"That's definitely not happening," David says as he takes the cat off her hands. Jenny's far too drunk to argue against him, which is good. Otherwise you wager David would be a dead man. He sets the cat down and let's it run off before turning to you. "Take her home, would you?"

You and Kimberly help carry a swaying Jenny to the back of your car, as you hop in the driver seat and start it up. As you start driving down the street, you see David hunching over on the street. He has the cat in his hands. He picks it up, and takes it with him on the way to his place.

"So Jenny, where do you live?" you ask, only to realise she's already unconscious in your back seat.

"Well, shit. What do we do with her now?" Kimberly asks.

>I can let her sleep on my couch, and hope she doesn't kill me in the morning.
>Can she stay at yours?
>Is leaving her on the sidewalk out of the question?

Of course. Sick fucking spot, matched only by the other dropkick to the guy on the ladder he did.

Kimberly knows HER gimmick is fake, but just forgets the same extends to everyone else. Also, Jenny has a reputation for being Shoot Crazy

"How very noble! I'll pray for you," Kimberly joked. "I'd offer to put her in my place, but my sister would throw a fit if I did. Nobody wants that."

Kimberly constantly brings up her sister, but never elaborates on what her relationship with her sibling is like. Whatever, it's too late to ask her about it now, as you pull up outside her apartment. She wraps her arms around you in a friendly embrace. "This was fun. Catch you around, Ace." She hops out of your car and waves goodbye. She also points out Jenny in the backseat and makes a praying motion.

You reach your place, and find yourself tasked with carrying Jenny's dead weight up to your apartment. After seven gruelling flights of stairs and twenty curses at the elevator for being out of order, you make it through your door and slump Jenny down onto your couch. You search around and find a spare blanket to throw over her. You have a sharp pain in your back from carrying her, and you immediately retire to bed, but not without hiding all the sharp utensils in your cupboard. Can't be too careful.

You lay your weary head down after another long day, wondering what lies in store for you tomorrow. You should probably sneak in a training session before the show on Monday. You'll also need to sort things out with Abby before they get out of hand. You could try talking to David yet again about becoming your tag partner, or maybe even hitting up Angelo, and seeing if he's willing to fill the role. There's also the matter of the woman who is currently passed out on your couch. You drift off before you have time to prioritise, however. All of that can wait until tomorrow. The Ace NEVER plans ahead.

And that's it for tonight's thread! Next thread will probably be up earlier than usual tomorrow, so I will keep you all posted via the Twittah machine @bookerman32

I would have written a note, too, but this is a good start.

Good thread as always. I will be lurking and contributing when I can.

Is it bad that I kind of want Abby to learn how to wrestle?

Quick question regarding our social stats. How do those levels increase? Just out of curisoity? And can those be leveled up through alternitive means?

>Quick question regarding our social stats. How do those levels increase? Just out of curisoity? And can those be leveled up through alternitive means?

You earn points by selecting dialogue options that correspond to said traits. Which choices correspond to which social stats are hidden, and a good few dialogue choices don't add to any social trait. You also gain more points for passing check for those social skills, which will become more common as time goes on.

She'd make a very good babyface is all I am saying. Just so long as she can handle the gimmick matches that will enevitably be tossed her way in addition to the legit matches she'd get.
>>
I see David continue to stall, then step up right before the match. Asking anyone else could upset him, but is Ace smart enough to know that and leave well enough alone?
