You are MII the Harpy, formerly SAMANTHA SMITH, in your past life you were a chubby teenage girl who was trying to turn her life around, before you met your untimely end at the hands of gravity and an oversized rock. Now reborn into a fantasy world you- OH GOD THAT’S HOT!

You flit out of the way as you barely dodge a fireball, the heat biting at your skin as it whistles past and dissipates shortly after, from the flaming badger like monster that stomps around beneath you, it no doubt wishes to steal the kill you and your sister worked so hard for. The deer carcass lie only feet away from the creature, which seems to completely ignore the corpse for now, focused solely on you and your twin Your mother should be arriving soon, but the inferno of a creature that growls angrily up at you from a crouched position, fire roaring in its mouth.

“Sis, we should go, there’s no way we can –EEP!” Your sister begins to titter in worry about fleeing the fight but the monster launches another fireball in her direction that she barely manages to dodge out of the way. Perhaps she is right, this thing, even if it was a normal badger may be too much for the two of you, but Mom is on her way…

Dice System is 1d100, Best of 3 rolls, Roll over the DC.
There are sometimes multiple DCs to a single roll ranging from Critical Fail-Major Fail-Failure-Success-Major Success-Critical Success.

There will be roughly 10-15 minutes for voting and updates will take place on average of 20-40 minutes after I call the vote.

After all sessions I will stick around for Q&A. Feel free to ask me silly questions, tell jokes, and hang out with your QM.

Basically, 100s over ride 1s which over ride everything else, from there there is a hidden DC with every action based on similar actions taken in the past and their outcomes as well as taking into account levels in skill ranks as well as your current evolution.

The degrees of success are for when no 100s or 1s are rolled, pray that you never roll two 1s in a row, and rolling two 100s will be seen as divine intervention.

Bird bones aren't hollow they have air sacs that can actually increase the resistance of the bone.

The bones are light but still durable.

..So you're saying we can be a flying super wrestler who grapples dragons...
>>
>>45928109
I'm just saying that people have a common misconception about how bird bones work. Not every species of bird even has the air sacs.
>>
>>45928135
Aww okay.
>>
>>45928072
wouldn't a pocket of air inside be considered a hollow space?
>>
>>45928162
its not hollow if theres something in it.
>>
>>45928162
It's almost like the space that would be hollow contains gas filled sacs. The reason they're still durable is the same reason it's harder to bend a clarinet over your knee then a solid steel bar.
>>
>>45928195
Most things described with hollow are full of air, but they're still hollow.
>>

Bend not break, it's a physics principle I can't quite remember the name off. At any rate bird bones aren't any weaker than our own, their just adapted to flight.

No, you can’t give up on your first real hunt. That would be stupid, and besides Mom will be here soon to save the day. You and your sister can tough this out for a little while, besides it’s a ground bound foe, as long as you dodge its fireballs it can’t even hurt you, besides, you’ve played games like Touhou in the past, how hard can a minor bob and weave be compared to a bullet hell.
“We stay.” You say firmly as you bob and weave, to and fro, back and forth, flitting through the air as the badger-beast below belches furious flames forwards, fireballs arc here and there, dispersing in the air around you in your sister as the two of you weave back and forth. Giving your best to escape the onslaught. Wind rushes past you, through your hair and feathers as you dip, duck, dodge, dive, you’ve never felt more alive! You criss –cross with your sister in aerial acrobatics.

“Just, keep flying Mai, Mom will be here soon and then-“
“LOOK OUT!”
Your sister makes a sudden dive towards the ground, and your eyes widen in fear as you see a fireball headed right towards you! There is no time to dodge you are going to get hit head on.
There is a searing pain that wracks your body as the fireball collides with you, the flames lapping at your feathers hair and flesh and sending you into a plummet towards the earth, you’ve been hit and are going down. If not for your wings catching just enough lift you probably would have once more fallen to the cruel mistress known as gravity as you land in the grass, which whips you, and the dirt that hardly cushions your fall, with a thud, you feel more pain, everything hurts in fact. There is a ringing in your ears. Your lungs feel like the air was sucked out of them and you cough and gasp for air, sucking in debris which only causes you to cough more.

>>
>>45928327
The principle your thinking of only applies when you compare items of the same material.
>>
>>45928392
But didn't you just say they were full of air sacs instead of being hollow? Not completely sure birb bones are the same material as man bones, never bothered to look into it.
>>
>>45928424
“SISTER!” You hear a call from above and the beat of wings as your twin descends to your side. Her wings beating up a bit of dust as she comes to your side.

You open your eyes you are in pain, but nothing feels broken and you can still feel everything, which is both a blessing and a curse because, well, everything is in pain. But you and your sister are still alive.

You hear the growling and look up to see the badger beginning to make its way towards the two of you, the beast still wreathed in flame. Both you and your twin are grounded, and you have no clue how far off your family is…

You're right, well, the comparison works well enough for human and bird bones. Although ours, like most tetrapods, aren't completely solid all the way through.

Judging by some of the other comments on that page, wall buckling is an issue that means you still don't want to use hollow cylinders for things that you want to not break.

It doesn't INCREASE it by a significant margin. They're just not as brittle or weak as people think they are. They do take longer to heal though, a price that comes with flight specialization.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm backpedaling, it's hard to convey the proper meaning of what you want to say over text sometimes.

No, this, this is only the beginning, you can’t die here, not again, and certainly not to some stupid flaming badger thing. And if you die, then your beloved twin may be next! You stagger to your talons as the badger looms before you, it seems larger up close, as large as you are even with its stout looking form. It opens its mouth full of jagged teeth and flame seems to well from within. No, this is the time to fight! You will not go softly into that long night, or whatever the next universe holds for you if that’s how things work. You spread your wings wide.

“Come at me!” You tweet out in challenge and the badger seems to recoil in shock, the fire in its maw extinguishing, as if not expecting you to sudden rise up against it and either accept death or flee. The moment of hesitation is all you need. You take back to wing and fly at the badger, talons extended and you rake across its face, peeling back skin and flesh, leaving a trail of blood in your wake. It lets out a pained noise of fury, as it spins in anger to try and grab your trailing legs or feathers but as it does so your twin also takes to wing, raking her talons across its back and exposing its pinkish flesh to the air another angry and pained noise coming from the beast as it whips around, but you and your sister have both escaped to the air yet again.

The fight returns to how it was at the beginning, with the raked beast launching flames into the air and you and your twin artfully dodging every shot, well, hopefully every shot, you don’t think you could take another hit like the first one. Then you hear a long twirrl and tweet come from the air above you. Is it Mom? Has the cavalry finally arrived?

Something plummits past you at an alarming speed and strikes the badger dead center, causing it to stop its fight and whimper out in pain, a loud cracking sound eminates through the air as a medium sized rock has impacted with the creature. You look up and find, not your mother but Ciel!

“No, we’ve already hurt it this much, we can do this! But we need to do it together!” You say to your sister as you look down upon the wounded predator below.

“Mii, you are charred and hurt, we need to go see Mom and- HEY!” Your older sister begins to say but you are already turned around and decreasing altitude, you know that your family will follow you into the fray, they always have up till now, and you can already hear a beat of wings behind you as you go into a nose dive towards the badger. Yes, you can feel it again, like with the snake, or with the deer. This is the thrill of the hunt, this creature is nothing, nothing more than your prey. You are what stands on the top of the food chain around here, not some shitty fire badger, seriously, it’s like no effort was put into creating it, durr, let’s just slap an element on an animal and call it a day. Hah, you laugh at the universe!

The badger below turns, but its damaged body is slow to move and its wounds are starting to pile up. You slow at the last possible second, outstretching your talons and sinking them deep into its flank, it fumes with fury twisting in pain and anger as it goes to try and bite you. And that is when your twin sister’s talons sink into its shoulders. It froths in pain flames gouting heavily, you can feel the heat, and your sister cries out as some of her feathers are singed. But from where you have latched on it is clear the best is in its death throws. Its bones broken, bloodied and beaten. But with that comes freedom from its pain it begins whipping and bucking wildly, in both agony and adrenaline. Fire spouting everywhere and catching the brush nearby alight. The world becoming an inferno, but you and your sister remain mostly unharmed in your positions.

Overcome with your primal instinct of the hunt, you can feel it, the will to finish off the fire badger, for it is nothing more than another Prey. You can see it, when the badger twists and bucks wildly, there is a motion, its going to swing its head back, try to bite at your legs and in the moment, you lurch forward your human teeth sinking into the badger’s neck, a warm irony liquid entering your mouth along with a mass of matted fur, you clamp down with all your might, and then twist and pull away. Strips of flesh uproot as you peel back the animals neck from its bones, its veins trailing in the air and spouting its life essence away in a torrent of red that washes over the ground, your body, and the body of your twin. The flames die down, sputtering out as the beast gags for air, the only motions it makes, the firing of neurons as its eyes begin to glaze over. The grass around you is alight, the deer carcass will be too soon no doubt, but you and your sister have claimed an even better prize. The meat of the badger tastes chewy and gamey in your mouth, and for the most part all you can taste is iron, but there is a sense of accomplishment welling within you that cannot be denied.

>>Inferno Badger Slaughtered<<

“Sis I think we should take to wing, there is too much fire…” You hear from nearby.

>Yeah, we should fly out of here
>Ok, lets go. But we should take one of these with us. (Badger or Deer)
>VICTORY! Begin the feast here and now!

No point catching fire permanently this time.

Deer, more meat and better quality meat than the badger.

You chew and then slurp down some of the neck meat you managed to get off the badger when ripping it a new mouth. Its not terrible, certainly edible, but you have got to show Mom and Dad how cool you and Mai are, and Ciel, even if she only dropped a rock on it. But you’ve got to get out of here, the whole place is going up in flames, and if the deer was too much for you and Mai to carry it no doubt will be impossible to get both corpses.
“Ciel, Sis, Hey! Get down here!” You call up to the sky above as smoke billows up from the grass around you.
“What? Mii, Mai, get out of there, what are you doing? There is fire everywhere! Did you kill that thing?”
“Yeah, we did Sis, now help us carry it out.”
“What!?”
“Hurry!”
“A-Aright Fine I’m coming.”

You hear a beat of wings come down as your older sister descends and sinks her talons into the corpse of the badger as well, there is something oddly satisfying and familiar about having the family, talons deep, into the body of a former predator. But you can leave the reminisce to another time.
“Alright on the count of three.” You say preparing your sisters.
“One…” Says Mai
“Two…” Says Ciel
“THREE!” You all say in unison as you begin flapping.

The fire fans out and aways as the three of you take flight, carrying the stocky animal corpse in your talons, as you head back towards where your mother had stationed herself when you all got here.

“Mom is gonna be so proud.” You titter happily as the three of you fly along, completely forgetting what animal all of you went out hunting in the first place.
Mai gives a pensive smile but says nothing on the matter.
Ciel rolls her eyes and sighs at your words.

Calling it here for tonight, know it’s a bit short, might pick it up sometime tomorrow or Sunday. Questions, concerns, and badgering can be directed at me now.

That's very adorable. Who doesn't like a cute little predator?
Don't you find it adorable when a puppy is covered in blood from fresh meat?

Can anyone tell me how the other re monster quests are? This is the only one I read

>>45932827
spooder quest is fun. It's slowed down in the last couple of threads, and REQM is kill right now, but it's a fun read nonetheless.

Okay but really re-learning english and using it as a secret twin language, does no one like this idea?

>>45933408
Yes, but we were much younger and fluffier then. I doubt anyone could see anything, and there wasn't much to see anyway.
>>
>>45932827
Spider (titled just Re: Monster EX, as it was the first) and Lizard are hella fun but are in hiatuses.

Snake was fun while it lasted, but last couple threads were total fuck up because QM quit and a different guy tried continuing it but took QM's notes wrongly.

Kobold had a shocking swerve into drama and stayed grimderping.

It just adds to the adorableness of little murderburds.
