There was a faint flash of light as the Eyegore finally completes its journey, arriving in a distant system. The Armatocere had informed you of a system where evidence of the power and anger of the Masked could be seen. Your Eyegore did not even have to deploy it's sensors to detect the devastation arrayed before it.

Appearing "above" the systems plain they look down on a small bright white star, it's brilliant light washing over the crumbling remains of the planets that once circled the star. Great fields of asteroids spiraled around the sun, great continent sized chunks burning bright as they were slowly drawn to and consumed by the energetic star, it's gravity much stronger than you expect of a star.

Necrotic energy roils like a storm throughout the system, whole asteroid crumbling to dust before the scouts collective eyes, sickly green lightning crackling between drifting boulders. The Eyegore deploys it's satellite drones and waits as it drinks in the data from the system. The Reconstructed could not hear it but you could feel it as you looked through the Eyegore.

The screams of trillions, of countless lives echoing in the void and drowning everything else out. Yet, they had a source. The glorious ball of cosmic flame and energy radiates with the lifeforce of every single living being that had once populated this system.

You wonder just what these unfortunate souls had done to earn such a ghastly torment. The Mask weighs heavy in your hand, the dark patterns of the carved wood shifting unnaturally.

Completed Research:
>Large Reconstructed: You had always kept your Reconstructed to a mostly uniform size, relying on vehicles and ships for tasks that required anything larger than a troll. Anything much larger would normally collapse under their own weight but your Think Tanks have been hard at work to find a solution to this problem.

>Confederate Corvette: A civilian transport ship the craft was used to transport passengers and light loads of cargo between systems. Thorough examination reveals several finds of import. First among those the ship was not what it appeared, several discreet modifications and additions revealing its dual purpose as a smuggling ship.

>Esat Fighters and Gunships: The Esat turned their natural affinity for flight into a key factor in their military strategies. The vast amounts of single and two pilot fighters along with multi-crew gunships they fielded were likely a reason why the Ahkam decided to take them into their fold.

Unlocked:

Large Reconstructed: Significantly larger than the normal Reconstructed these units are able to wield much more potent weaponry into battle and able to stand up against most war vehicles. The large reconstructed wield appropriately sized weaponry similar to their smaller kin. Adaptations for Large Reconstructed cost double their standard price.

Frames:
>Brute: Standing at just under 4 meters the Brute is a humanoid frame smaller and faster than the other large reconstructed and able to enter in areas the others cannot. Forced to walk in a stooped crouch to support its weight and giving it a nearly crippled appearance it is a nonetheless very stable fighter able to withstand explosions and weaponfire without staggering. Cost: 60B 45M

>Crawler: Standing at just over 8 meters tall on four strong legs the Crawler is a hulking creature, it's upper torso supporting it's two arms and head. Able to mount heavier weaponry than the humanoid frame the Crawler is a large target that relies on fighting from a distance and it's heavy armor. Cost: 110B 90M

>Drake: Nearly 10 meters long the Drake is an aerial unit resembling a four-winged serpent. Standing on a pair of powerful limbs when at rest these same limbs can be used to claw or grab objects while in flight. With lighter armor than the other frames the drakes rely on their speed and agility to avoid most incoming fire. Cost: 80B 60M

1 can we create giant mural dream stones depicting the victories f the necrotic armada adding to these public edifices for each historically improbably event

2 Can we make dirges in various poses and have them set up like statues through out the city so they appear as decorations at first but have alternative uses?

3 Can we equip ship shields to the city to defend against orbit attacts

Your three newest Generals, each unblooded and eager to prove themselves, prepare themselves then launch into their very first mission. The Necrolyte Voidsinger readies his own soldiers to lead them into boarding actions onto the Confederate space city.

The first to leave is Revenant Jareth in his Void-Terror with a small force of sub-capitols departing with their Void Drives. The newest Voidknight was eager to test out his new capabilities, the flames licking off the black hull of his fighter hungry and sharp.

Next to depart was to be Punisher Muic and Predator Eiton at the heads of their own ship forces followed by the Necrolytes to board the station as the Osjiic fleet and station defenses were distracted. Reconstructed troops sit in their tight quarters, humming or chattering wordlessly as they waited in excitement. Several manage to mimic crude fragments of words and you find it somewhat curious but detect the presence of the Deep Rots mind filtering through them in preparation for the coming fight.

The Osjiic fleet was stationed out of range of the space-city's defenses but keeping a close eye on it as they awaited for something. You did not have to wait long as your Eyegore spots the distinct flashes of Osjiic forces appearing in the system, a small fleet doubling the size of the Osjiic within the system.

This proves unfortunate for Revenant Jareth as his small force of Frigates and Corvettes emerge nearly on top of them. This does not discourage the surprised Voidknight but spurs him on with a cackling laugh as his Void-Terror unleashes its fury against a nearby corvette and shatters its command bridge with an explosion of voidflame.

Muic and Eiton are quick to charge their ships skip drives as Jareths force is quickly turned to scrap and shattered bone under the retaliatory attack of the Osjiic.

As the rest of the new generals depart in flashes of light your Eyegore alerts you to another arrival within the suddenly popular system. Confederate wormholes open tears in space around the moon of the space city's planet and out comes a small fleet of Confederate sub-capitols surrounding a destroyer class ship.

They waste little time before launching their fighters and move in to join in and reignite the dying battle. This sudden arrival served as a surprising respite for Jareth as it drew the Osjiics attention from his nimble craft to deal with the new attackers. The Void-Terror danced a deadly duel with the Osjiic fighters, beams of void-light and blasts from rapid-fire chain-flensers slicing through shield and hull.

As the Confederate ships engage with the Osjiic ships and your few remain fighters Eiton and Muic's fleets appear further out in the system. Their engines burn bright as they race forward, their salvo of spinal cannons heralding their arrival onto the scene.

Your Eyegore struggles to keep track of the various signals and shouts over the airwaves, Osjiic screaming in their bloodlust and Confederate officers barking orders. There was even activity from the planets surface, both Osjiic and Confederate forces apparently clashing at the arrival of their respective fleets.

As the system is engulfed in a three-way battle the enemy fleets do not seem to notice the arrival of a Bloat Carrier appearing underneath the station, Support Coffins shedding from its hull to latch onto the space city. Claws and focused flenser beams cut through the hull and muscle sheets create a pressurized seal as Necrolyte Legionnaires slip on board the station. Demi-Think Tanks float over their shoulders as the strike teams lead by Necrolyte Officers rush through the hallways in their way to the stations anti-ship defenses.

It was an Osjiic ship that decided to significantly reduce the playing field after Jareth slices through yet another corvette. A heavy cruiser that had arrived as reinforcement pulls back from the conflict part way and a pair of large bay doors open. From within it launches a pair of missiles and Jareth swears in alarm as he recognizes the void-deflectors surrounding the Void-Nova Missiles.

Predator Eiton and Punisher Muic heed their comrades warnings and the Necrotic ships immediately drop fighting and attempt to flee but the first missile strikes at the core of the Confederate fleet still dueling with Osjiic and Necrotic ships. It detonates in a massive blast of void energy that races out to engulf both enemy and friendly ships alike, shattering hulls and breaking ships before the energy recoils into a speck of light the detonating with renewed energy leaving only charred smoking hulls in its wake.

To your alarm the second Void-Nova streaks for the space city containing your favored Voidsinger and his officers, the very best and most promising of your Necrolyte Legionnaires. Gripping the Mask tight in your hand you watch through the Eyegore as the Void-Nova races for the station only for a small rip in space to appear before it and the missile disappears.

The airwaves fill with confusion and shouts from both Confederate and Osjiic, your Generals baffled at the sudden stroke of good luck. Outside the rim of the system, relatively close to your Eyegore, another rip in space opens and the Void-Nova ignites.

There was a moment of delayed reaction before the remaining fleets launch back into the battle. Your fleet, despite the significant losses, still outnumbered the remaining ships. Soon the Osjiic and Confederate ships were fighting desperately as your Generals began to mop up the resistance. To your Generals relief it appeared the Osjiic lacked any more Void-Novas as Necrotic ships rip them to pieces in a fury.

Predator Eiton himself leads his Shock Trolls in boarding actions to take the Confederate Destroyer, the arc-powered hunter recognizing the prize the Confederate ship would entail for the Armada.

Your Necrolyte Legionnaires, however, had no idea of their brush with true death. They quickly find themselves engaging with fierce firefights with automated defense systems and barricades set up by survivors. A Demi-Think Tank drains the memories of a downed human with it's NID and shows that after the Osjiic had fled the station the surviving guerrillas and suddenly free captives retook the station. This allowed their forces on the ground to drive the Osjiic away from the space elevator and retake the facility anchoring the station to the surface, driving the Osjiic to become guerrillas on the world below.

It was the Necrolyte officer, the female human with the prosthetic arm and favored melee combat that went by the name Rosa, that encountered the strange cyborgs. She clashes with a trio, her comrades fighting them off as she dueled against one made from the corpse of a hulking Tyrre warrior. Her thermal vibro-axe chopping through he cyborgs skull before she plunges her mechanical fist into its chest to rip out its core, her exosuit splashed with necrotic fluids and oil.

The fighting was fiercest around the anti-ship defenses but your Necrolytes were experienced soldiers even before joining your Armada. They break through and slaughter or capture the defenders and soon the anti-ship batteries were firmly within Legionnaire hands.

The battles between the ships were intense, the Osjiic and Confederates stubbornly refusing to give up. They still traded blows with each other before the Necrotic ships separate them and swarm them with fighters and coffins. You had neglected to send the boarding frigates, not thinking them necessary for what was originally a small defensive force of Osjiic but the Coffins fulfill their roles well.

The Confederate defenses on the Destroyer were quite formidable, the uniform hallways sealing with multiple emergency bulkheads and an array of automated turrets and hovering combat drones. Exosuited soldiers of various races clash with Eiton and his troops, the new general using Arc enhanced bone rifle to strike with surgical precision that left his living enemies still grasping to life but crippled and maimed as they floated in the low gravity.

There were flashes of Skip Drives as a cluster of Bloat Carriers guarded by Corvettes appear in the system carrying the rest of the Legion. The support corvettes keep watch over the carriers as they send Coffin dropships to land within the hangar bay. Necrolyte Legionnaires leaping from the Coffins to join the Voidsinger and his strike team assaulting the Confederate defenders.

Stonestar Legionnaires finally have their chance to shine as they spin and twirl through the low gravity. The defenders had never faced an enemy that seemed to disregard gravity or direction as they attacked, shardspitter flechettes filling the air as they drag themselves along with their natural sting whips.

A netu confederate in a security exosuit duels with a Stonestar, a plasteel riot shield holding back the five-limbed alien while attacking with a scattergun. The stonestar latches onto the edge of the shield and flips itself over the surprised netu while grabbing it by the shoulders with another two limbs, the remaining two launching their sting whips into the ground then pulling hard. This catapults the netu over the stonestar head over heels only for its shouts of surprise to cut off as it is riddled with flechettes.

Your forces were better armed and seemingly more numerous but the defenders were dug in hard, not willing to let their city fall to another invading force so soon. There was much blood spilled on both sides but slowly your Necrolyte Legion gains ground through the city, claiming several vital areas.

The Voidsinger Commander is the first to step through the breach into the command center where the densest of Confederate resistance alongside Osjiic shieldbearers and quickly followed by his Necrolytes. The Demi-Think Tanks blare a message the Commander had recorded in transit to the station, announcing that those that surrendered would be spared and taken prisoner while those that fought would be shown no mercy. Upon seeing the tide of monstrous appearing aliens storming their defenses many of them did surrender with several gunned down by their own comrades before the Necrolytes could secure them.

The fighting was fierce but eventually your troops stand victorious within the system.

The Osjiic fleet reduced to scrap with only a few sub-capitols taken captive but the main prize was the Confederate Destroyer and the space city. The Necrolytes capturing the central hub of the station and its core systems, the confederates slipping into the walls once more.

Victory, at a price

Remove all living captured for processing, vent atmosphere on the station flood it with looms and reconstructed advise the hunters the clear it of all living things and to how them no mercy

For the confederate commander, let us not bandy about with wit and words
Nid the fucker and be done with it

As for those who surrendered shard them all and induct ten into the new way of living same goes for the planet below perhaps dedicate an eyegore to watching the planet for any unusual activity

Similar case with the mining planet the deaths head landed on

Have the Istalkers\Looms led by Nekris Sweep the city for Guerrilla Fighters, This situation is right up his alley

>>45972498
Shit, that's a lot of legionnaries. Any way we can preserve their bodies so that we can try to reconstruct them with memories intact after we finish the living experiments research?

>>45972452
Search for the source of Necrotic cyborgs.
>>
>>45972800
There are 230 of them still. They have been split up between the outposts on Horizon's Drop and the moon prison helping with unneeded manual labor to keep them busy until the Hurricanes die down on Rukor which should be any day now. Then they will be sent to provide aid under the watchful guard of the Reconstructed.

>>45972452
Suggestions offered are:
>Clear out the remaining survivors with Reconstructed (Possibly with the Predator Generals)
or
>Clear out captives, vent the station of atmosphere (would damage the stations systems unpredictably if this is done)

How shall you deal with the survivor guerrilla confederates and the Cyborgs?
>Large amounts of Reconstructed
>Vent the stations atmosphere
>Flood it with the Wasting Sludge

Along with:
>Capture the surface
>Search for Osjiic objective

How shall you take control of the surface?
The anchor point for the space elevator connecting the space city to the surface is surrounded by the surface mining facilities and the small town that surrounds the factories.

About Capturing the surface Boyos this would be the perfect time to test those drop pods. we can send the Legionarres to stirr up the hive. then after that drop reconstructed onto them.

>>
>>45973275
Don't vent the atmosphere send in the hunters. They need some R&R after all this shop combat rigmarole
>>
>>45973275
Personally I would rather keep the prisoners detained in the space city, in case we need to interrogate them over anything going on in there. At least until we actually figure out what to do with them.

Lurker here, just binged the quest till 37 and had a some questions/suggestions - though I haven't yet read through the ask or pastebins, so some may have been addressed

>Spear dissection
Jaydks' spear displays tech he doesn't have/remember, and we still haven't dissected it yet - are the thinktanks and cauldrons not advanced enough? Would it be to difficult? I don't remember this topic being brought up.

>Are thinktanks a new creation or not?
I thought they were, but their use/implementation seems too required - I wonder if those poor, obsolete cauldrons can even provide any research or computing/piloting services like it seemed they used to/would have were it not for thinktanks.

>laser crystal ruins
I remember there was more to the ruins on the scorched planet, but there seems to have been little talk of it since we left with the broken crystal - did we finish exploring it somewhere I missed?

>Eyegore chilling in an Armatocere system
Has it just remained undetected? Noone want to get it out of there?

A tinker unit, specializing in things like medicine, machines, necrocrafting anything smaller than 4ft, or just experimenting with crude, brute force alternatives to normal cauldron dipping would be useful I think, especially with sunscale research which has been neglected since they can't be cauldron dipped, despite Jaydk having more ways to potentially corrupt, defile, or otherwise taint sunscale corpses and bones which haven't been tried.

Welcome! Glad you're liking the quest. These are some questions I should address I suppose before getting into plot stuff.

>>Spear dissection
>Jaydks' spear displays tech he doesn't have/remember, and we still haven't dissected it yet - are the thinktanks and cauldrons not advanced enough? Would it be to difficult? I don't remember this topic being brought up.
The Spear was originally "forged" from a chunk of ore that the Wormstar physically chewed up and spit up. There has been no attempts to research or duplicate it though the Reaver Staff do allow for a weaker mimicking of its abilities to drain and manipulate energies

>Are thinktanks a new creation or not?
They are a new creation of Jadyks. Before every single Reconstructed was linked to the Cauldrons and from the Cauldrons to the Wormstar itself.

>>laser crystal ruins
>I remember there was more to the ruins on the scorched planet, but there seems to have been little talk of it since we left with the broken crystal - did we finish exploring it somewhere I missed?
I thought I had posted the results from the explorations of the world. There were other ruins discovered and other caverns similar to the original one but they all appeared to be abandoned with whatever equipment that had been in there removed a long time ago with evidence of combat from the presence of bullet holes and explosion craters. There was the remains of a few destroyed monoliths but they were long-dead. A number of the caverns have been converted into research labs, the scorched planet being a relatively safe place to contain potentially dangerous research projects.

>>Eyegore chilling in an Armatocere system
>Has it just remained undetected? Noone want to get it out of there?
It's drifting around outside the edge of the system. It's pretty damn hard to detect an Eyegore when it's inactive and just observing.

I honestly hope we get a chance to morph Ky'tck into a stringed instrument and sing a song of the wormstar to the tune of 'hello darkness my old friend' at that meeting. We know Akka-tor appreciates a bit of theatrics and that Jadyk can sing. He used to lead his old choir group, after all.

Yeah, it's directly boosting the performance and apparent intelligence of all our Reconstructed. This was stated in a prior thread, and in this one we have this tidbit:

Ships bearing Nekris and Agona depart for the system with their fleets. The Punishers begin focusing on defending the system, a linked Terrordrome floating in orbit over the space city. Nekris boards the station, meeting Eiton in the hangar bay with his Alpha Stalker by his side.

Predator Eiton kneels before his creator then stands with a grin twisting his cyclopean face, "Let us hunt, brother," he says excitedly with arcs of electricity flickering along his body.

Nekris nods and pats him on the shoulder, "Soon, little brother. First we must allow them a chance to surrender. It would be hardly a challenge to hunt those that would surrender themselves if given the chance. The best prey are those that refuse to give up or die. Those are the prime targets," he nods to a nearby Necrolyte and soon the voice of a captured Confederate echoes over the stations audio systems demanding the surrender of the remaining Confederate forces.

The message is repeated several times before your Generals disappear into the dark corridors, their flesh going dark and rippling as Looms and Shadows begin their hunt. They spot small groups of Confederates heading for the Hangar where they were to turn themselves in and ignore them, instead searching for their stubborn comrades and the necrotic cyborgs still on the station.

With the Predators commencing their hunt and the Punishers planning defenses and salvaging the scrapped ships this leaves the task of retaking the surface to the Legion. With the losses gained from taking the station the Voidsinger gladly accepts the offer of assistance from a pair of the new Voidknight Disciples along with Reconstructed forces to take the planet.

The Necrotic ships descend on the planet with support corvettes providing cover against any potential ground defense but there appeared to be little in the way beyond a few anti-air towers that are quickly decimated with concentrated fire. The town below is built up around the massive anchor that linked the orbital station to the planets equator, mining factories and housing spread around it with several mining facilities spread throughout the continent. The planet was a dry planet that showed signs of previously hosting a rich biosphere but now reduced to a few native low-water plant-like organisms, nearly all of it's native fauna gone extinct.

Necrolytes emerge alongside tides of Reconstructed from Bloat Carriers when they touch down, Corvettes and Nails flying above to provide aerial cover. Already they encounter resistance from both Osjiic and Confederate forces and they gladly launch into battle, fighting along dusty streets and clearing out buildings one by one. The Disciples are eager to prove themselves worthy as they feel the presence of Lorgul watching their performance through nearby Reconstructed.

The process of claiming this system as your own was well under way though you are unsure how this will affect your future negotiations with the Confederation. You are interrupted though by an alert from the Jor himself, his image appearing as a shimmer hologram on your ship. He bows, Reaver Staff in hand, "Greetings Jadyk, I hope I am not interrupting anything important but the Plainsrunners are nearly here and I thought you'd like to be here to greet them."

(Text wall incoming)

"Of course. I will be there shortly," you assure him and the image flickers out.

Something that weighed heavy on your mind, something about the conflict over the former confederate system that nagged at you as you left your battleship in a coffin. That second Void-Nova would have eliminated the leadership of the Necrolyte Legion and effectively cripple it's use as a fighting force severely yet something had transported it harmlessly out of range. The Confeds and the Osjiic were just as surprised as your forces by the dramatic interference.

Your coffin descends and the pilot alerts you to the arrival and your mind turns to other matters, the wooden Mask hidden within your armor weighing heavy. The doors of the coffin open and you are unsure if the sound of strumming insects is natural or imagined, the heavy snow on the ground below not helping your unease.

Your Throne departs from the coffin and it returns to orbit and its tasks, the stone slab you were seated on descending from the upper atmosphere with a boom as it breaks the sound barrier but slowing as you draw closer to the colony below. The setting sun sets you and the throne alight and the booming echoes of your approach drawing the gazes of your subjects and the Plainsrunners making their way across the fields the herd-beasts grazed.

Setting down on the ground next to Jor and the "welcoming committee" as he'd sarcastically called them, you stand with Kyn'tk in your grasp. Your living subjects bow at your arrival and you bid them to relax, "This is a time of celebration, of welcoming," The plainsrunners were well within eye-sight now, several gargoyles flying above them, "This is a joyous time to welcome new friends."

You float forth with Jor at your side. Red-Leaf-Strains approaches with her Gargoyle "pet" on her shoulder and her sisters, the rest of the herd holding back, the colonist similarly waiting by the tables of food and drink they'd meticulously prepared.

Once more you stand physically in front of the Plainsrunners yet this time they do not attempt to pelt you with stones. Red-Leaf-Strains and her sisters look cautiously at Jor and yourself before she bows her upper torso in greeting, "It is...good to see you in person, Jadyk. The trip has been long and hard but I am glad we have made it," she says, her voice both relieved and very tired. Her sisters both bow their heads as well though you can tell they are still unsure of your intentions from their behavior.

Jor steps forth, a dwarf among giants but he is confident and smiling, "I would like to welcome you personally, Red-Leaf-Strains. I am Jor and I would like to invite you and your herd to join us. We have prepared food, shelter and gifts for your herd if it pleases you," he stands to the side and motions with his free hand toward the colonists.

Red-Leaf-Strains looks curiously down at the human, surprised she could understand him when her sisters could not but her ears flit back and her eyes squint into an Osogo smile, "We will gladly accept. My herd would enjoy that," she says then translates for her sisters. The herd is motioned forward and soon Jor and yourself are guiding them to the waiting festivities.

The colonists are at first wary of the much larger creatures but it was the young Plainsrunners that quickly bridge the gap and join the colonists. Soon food and drink are handed out to their new neighbors, the Osogo eagerly eating and sampling their first tastes of properly cooked food and clean water instead of snow. They even try juices made from Armatocere fruit crops and native fruits much to their delight. Plainsrunner sized cloaks are given to them and measurements taken for further clothing during the cold winter nights in the higher elevations.

They are shown the "barns" they would be sleeping in, rooms large enough for them to comfortably rest and recover on piles of large cushions and dried grasses. Think Tanks play translator for the Plainsrunners and your living subjects, Jor naturally filling into his roll as diplomat as he introduces Red-Leaf-Strains to the other colonists. Even young David is shown to the Plainsrunner alpha, the babe grasping at her finger when she reaches down carefully to inspect him.

It pleases you to see the two living "families" mesh so well together and you watch from the sides, not wanting to interfere with their party. There would be time in the future to introduce them to the Necrotic Way but for now you let them celebrate and relax. It was...a good feeling, you realize with a small amount of irony. You almost felt affectionate for these creatures of flesh and life despite your vast differences.

You started to muse on these when there was a startled alert from your Eyegore within the Armatocere system. A ghostly hand trails a greasy smear across it's lense, the wraith of the Suneater appearing before it. It was different than the one you had seen before but it it was unmistakably one of hers. It's voice grates across the Eyegores mind like its nails across the lense, "My Mistress, she wishes she meet you, yes she does, my Mistress. Tell me, will you join us please, tell me? Jadyk Lich-Lord, will you come alone to meet the Suneater, Lich-Lord Jadyk?"

Akka-Tor the Suneater requests your presence. How shall you reply?

We will meet, but it must not be near the Armatocere. They have a bad history with the Suneater's wraiths, and we're cultivating a trade relationship with the Armatocere.

>Partly to make it self sufficient in the event of a prolonged siege, partly to boost the amount of biomass produced by the farms in the OP, and partly to create a convenient and constant supply of the anesthetic the chitin slugs produce.
And that is a sensible response. Fine by me.
>>
>>45977058
Yeah, I don't think our new trend of tolerating and even cultivating and protecting the living as part of our Armada will mesh well with Akka-Tor's historical tendency of wiping out all life. Maybe she's gone as insane as her wraiths act and we'll eventually have to fight her. Being former comrades doesn't mean we have aligned goals anymore, necessarily.
>>
>>45977174
Just to add, if we go with the emergency evac fleet we should base them a system over from the meeting place. The wraiths seem remarkably sensitive to necrotic energy signatures and could probably identify any of our ships in a system.

Actually, I'm thinking about it, our reconstructed really count as us. I mean, she expects us to ya know, get there in a ship, and shes used to all/most of our units being completely mindless/slaved to us.

Not really. I'm pretty sure that was the crystals and the scales that did that, somehow. Akka-Tor seems to prefer living targets and stars.
>>
>>45977700
Was the Wormstar not actually a star? It's described as lighting the planet that Jadyk is originally from, when he was a corpse-controlling grub-thing.
>>
>>45977539
Nope, the sun eating happened because Jadyk and the Wormatar were killed, in part.
>>
>>45977754
it was a star made entirely of necrotic energy.

We should also send Jadyk in his Battleship packed full of glutton spheres and troops. Have the nearby fleet with the large glutton spheres set to drain wraith necrotic energy.

Let's not. We will go in a battleship with a crew and something akin to Honor Guard, and will have a fleet on standby, but that's should be enough. Maybe also a small ship inside a bigger one if she will ask for a super-personal no servants meeting. Also, wouldn't spheres draining necrotic energy cripple our weapons too?
>>
>>45978423
yes but Jadyk can now sing the void-electric
>>
>>45978457
We also have some ships with void-based weapons, engines, and drives. But draining all necrotic energy in a wide area right away is probably a bad idea - I think it would kill all of our Reconstructed, possibly including the Voidknights. They're undead too.

In the past we've been able to absorb void and arc attacks without shutting down the void-based ships on our side. I don't think the Glutton Spheres are completely indiscriminate.

Ooh, I just remembered! We have the crystal dampening tech now. I think our eyegores could be made hard to detect from necrotic energy signatures. Did the eyegore that got found most recently have that dampener?

I don't think so, not unless it left to get upgraded then returned. Plus I think the wraith knew where it was before we got those upgrades too

I suppose it would be possible to install a crystal brain into a large reconstructed. A Requiem. I suppose combining dirges and requiems with glutton spheres could be possible.

And you can contact the Lavafather whenever you would like. His fleet grows by the day as does his obsidianborn presence on the sister moon he is mining. He's sent ships to investigate Rukor as well, intrigued by the oceans and natives. His stonestar under your tutelage are also gaining their lessons from the Think Tanks. A number of their warriors are actually among the Legions troops, watching from behind the lines but itching to fight and prove themselves as they learn and prepare themselves.

>>45978588
I'm going to say that your Eyegores did take the time to return home and get retrofitted or swapped out with already upgraded eyegores and shuffled around.

>>45978917
Right now your Tractor Beams can't be used in combat and as a small spoiler the Grapnels have a better success rate at capturing a ship than the weaponised tractor beams

Yeah, we're definitely going to have to make these as a modification of our boarding ships. We Reavers now.
>>
>>45978970
Another question about ship combat, can boarding and sabotage pods be fired from the same launcher, or do they each require a specialized mount to use?
>>
>>45978970
Your mind reaches through the Eyegore and transfer your words, "I look forward to the meeting. Show me where she wishes to meet. Preferably somewhere less conspicuous."

The Wraith merely let's out discordant laugh as it scratches a set of coordinates into the glass of the Eyegore much to its annoyance and discomfort. The Wraith curls in on itself as if a small blackhole appeared behind its face, flesh slurping into a pinprick in space as it disappeared.

Your Battleship prepares itself in orbit, loading up with a full compliment of your deadliest of troops along with your single Dirge. Down on the surface you approach Jor and Red-Leaf-Strains as they speak about the accommodations but they stop to bow their heads at your approach. The Gargoyle remains perched on the Plainsrunner, content to stay since it has not been commanded to another task.

You look up to the Osogo, "I am very glad your people made it here despite your hardships. I know Jor will do his best to make your stay comfortable," you assure her and Jor beams at the praise.

Red-Leaf-Strains though, leans forward with Dreamstone in hand, "You are not staying?"

Shaking your head as your throne drifts over to you, "I am needed elsewhere. There is always something that requires my attention. Be well, Red-Leaf-Strains. Your people have completed the first part of your journey. Rest and recover for the next step will begin soon," you say before seating yourself on your throne.

You wave a hand to your living subjects and the plainsrunners as they turn to watch as your throne rapidly ascends once more into the night sky, a coffin collecting you and transporting you to your Battleship, a group of Nails latched onto its hull.

A fleet surrounds it as they all prepare their skip drives, ready to ride the gravity wells to the designated system. They would depart and wait within a nearby system on alert to join you and provide cover should this all turn out to be a trap.

The ships depart with a series of flashes in the night sky as the Plainsrunners continue to celebrate the end of their travel with their new friends. Jor was surprised by how friendly the former Daggers were being the aliens, netu trying to convince an Osogo warrior to try their shipmade moonshine. Even a few Osjiic joined the festivities, the normally grouchy members laughing and sharing warstories.

The fleet travels from star system to star system, only staying long enough to charge their engines and resuming their travel. Your Think Tanks focus on appearing outside of a system, away from potential observation and discovery but more often than not the fleet appears with a jovian planet or lonely star floating within sight.

The trip takes some time as you travel towards the galactic core. Finally, several hours later you emerge in a system the fleet would stay behind in as you continued on. The system was a strange blue star with only a pair of binary planets locked together. As your battleship charges its engines you look toward the planets, sensors zooming in to show the strange formations growing from their surfaces.

The planets looked barren of life, sensors not detecting an atmosphere but colossal pillars of stone and shimmering crystal extend towards the tidally locked planets as if reaching out for each other in an attempt to unite the two worlds. A sphere of water the size of a small ocean floats in the lagrange point between them, glimmering in the blue light of the star.

You have your fleet observe the strange system as your ship finally recharges and you blink away to meet your long lost ally.

>cont

>>45980505
The system was old, the star a dark red as its flames funnel across the void, channeled through great rings of metal that look hazy as if they weren't truly there towards a colossal ship of twisted, spiraling metal. Easily as larger than your Flagship or even the Beast of Rukor the ships drinks and consumes the energy of the star. Of the five planets within the system two were populated by primitive life forms, one at least hosting intelligent life from the lights spotted on its dark side. You can almost feel the fear of the natives even across the void of space.

Wraiths drift through the system, to and from the ship that flickers with that same uncertainty as if it doubted its own physicality. It did not take long before there was a mental signal sent from the structure, a familiar voice filling your mind, "I cannot believe my senses. I had hardly believed my pet when they said you had returned from your exile, my darling Jaydk. They said you were slain and I feared you would never return to me," her ethereal voice dripping with concern, "Come to my palace so we can speak properly, if you would my dear old friend," she pauses for a beat, "but please leave your toys and pets behind, I want this to be a personal reunion."

RED FLAGS, RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE

She's a bloody incorporeal wraith, you've seen her before, she can go where she likes even without a ship. And her "pets" apparently aren't keeping the meeting from being a "personal reunion". The place is swarming with them.

If she wants a "personal reunion", arrange a place to be alone then. What she's saying makes no sense.

Here's what we reply:
>If it's a personal reunion you want, let's find a place to be away from all the wraiths too. I find them unnerving.
>>
>>45980753

Found it, in the OP for DATS quest 24:

>A shudder runs through him, mandibles making up his mouth chittering in annoyance as the Lightdrinker herself drifts through his latest body. Shaking his head at the grin she sported he nonetheless offers a bow, "Greetings Akka-Tor. I was not expecting you to show to be honest," your voice traveling despite the airless void.

>The human appearing ghost drifts around the Lich, a shocked gasp then soft laugh reaching him, "Am I really that unreliable?" she asks with a smirk, the tendrils trailing from her shifting form writhing in an unfelt breeze.
>>
>>45980830
I'm guessing she wants to talk about the Masked in absolute privacy, without risking them blowing the fuck out of her empire.

There was something to Akka-Tors invitation that was raising red flags and making you quite uneasy to the prospect of boarding her fortress alone and undefended by your Reconstructed. Still, this meeting was long due and she may know more of what occurred all those eons ago when the Grand Necrotic Armada died and the Undying Court dissolved.

"I almost think you don't trust me, Akka-Tor. Will your wraiths be present for this intimate reunion?" you reply as your Battleship nears the structure drinking the energy of the star. Wraiths halt in their drifting to watch as you depart from the capitol ship, your throne propelled by your potent telekinetic power across the distance but relying more on momentum and weightlessness to travel. The structure was strange to look at as you neared, flicker uncertainly like it struggled to remain solid.

Kyn'tk writhes in your grasp and you swear you could feel the mask hidden within your ribcage move but ignore it as Akka-Tor's voice reaches you once more, "For you my dear, we shall be alone. They can find other things to amuse themselves," and sure enough you watch as the wraiths either disappear in increasingly dramatic fashions or drift towards the other worlds.

There was a large platform that emerges from the greater structure, metal slats slipping from within to form the flat surface your throne lands on. You wait for several long silent moments with the star's energy flowing into the structure beneath you. Ready to call out, you spot her slowly emerge from below the platform several meters before you.

She was different from when you last saw her. Her body hardly more than a hazy smear against the backdrop of reality but she radiated with necrotic energy much like a sun herself. Twisting tendrils and warped flesh sway in cosmic breezes as he looks at you, "It has been centuries since I considered you may still be present in some form throughout the cosmos. It seems I was right."

What would you like to speak about?
>>
>>45981081
>Tell her you've been trapped in a tomb for ages but cannot remember how it happened. You heard rumors that she consumed a star and took the same Suneater. Ask her what happened since then.
>>
>>45981081
First off, it is wonderful to see once more, Akka-Tor. For a long time I wondered if I was the only member of the undying court to survive it's destruction. (It doesn't matter if we trust her or not, this is just an appropriate greeting given the circumstances)

Ask what has happened leading up to our imprisonment, and what happened to the Wormstar. Explain our memories of our downfall were wiped by our captors.

Ask what has happened to her since we last met, and what prompted her to take on the title of Sun-Eater.

Sing a song

Hello darkness my old friend
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

in restless dream I sat alone
quite room of blackened stone
neath the working of a mine camp,
I turned my mind to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a mining light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten masked people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools," said I, "You do not know.
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you.
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the Akham god they made.
And the masked flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the Werm are written on the prison walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."

Still not sure how we're going to be friends with her and the Armatocere at the same time. If we could repair that rift and convince Akka-Tor that leaving the plants alone is a good idea, that would be great.
>>
>>45981178

>>
>>45981235
To be perfectly fair, another anon wrote that and I saved it just because it was so damn fitting.

As for replacing Akham, how about shattered gods? The confederates build zombie cyborgs using runes referencing the shattered wormstar, and the Osijics use Ghul's bones to power almost all their shit, as well as make their voidsingers.

I'm guessing Ghul must've been big boned.

>>
>>45981360
I vote against, personally. I'd honestly expect a response of "OK, now WTF was that about?", since it's not really self-explanatory.

Unless we want to convince Akka-Tor that we've gone kinda crazy in a way that we haven't. That's an idea, I suppose.
>>
>>45981536
Eh, I'd imagine millennia old creatures of darkness probably burst out into song every once in awhile. Also, I would argue that the song is actually quite self-explanatory.
>>
>>45981536
We know our variety communicated through 'song' of sort though, what with the Chitin Choir and the hymns of the wormstar. That tune can be explained as an ancient song of the worm re purposed to apply to our current situation, and used to convey the depth of our anguish at the death of our god and imprisonment to our ancient fellow undead friend.

Pod launcher mods can launch either boarding or sabotage pods.

Orbit to surface drop-pods are another matter and would require research if you want to make them since it takes a little more to drop a pod safely from orbit rather than launching it from one ship to another.

In the mean time shall we come up with some ideas for the larger reconstructed.

Someone suggested a giant dirge, I wonder if it can be used as a focal crystal with a couple of dirges channeling into it and it directs and focussing the attack

As a side note, if need be worst case scenario if she tries killing us Jaydk can use the mask to escape. Like how he used it to redirect the bomb subconsciously just grip that mother fucking mask Jaydk and unleash your will

Akka-Tor sways in an unfelt breeze, her body contorting and fading in the light of the dying sun but she stares at you, through you it almost felt like. Kyn'tk writhes in your grasp as you stand from the throne, floating above the platform who's stability you doubted, "I had heard you had survived the fall of the Undying Court and the Armada. It is...good to see the rumors true," you say as the Wraith Queen drifts closer to you

"Oh my dear Jadyk, were you worried about me? I'm touched," she giggles, a strange sound coming from a creature such as her but she continues, "Much has changed since the Undying Court, well, died," she lets out another laugh.

"So it would appear. Few even remember the Grand Necrotic Armada as little more than ancient myth. I must admit I have no memories of my defeat or the fall of the Armada and Court," you say to her, "I would hope you could shed some light on those events, Lightdrinker. Rather, Suneater, as I hear you called now. A promotion?"

Her laugh echoes through the airless void, "Yes! A promotion! Very well put, my darling Worm," she laughs for a long time then abruptly continues, "Yes it has been a long time. Those living fools really had it against us didn't they? You fought long and hard against them. You remember them don't you?"

You shake your head, "My memories elude me. I was imprisoned and recently freed and now I come seeking you for this knowledge."

Akka-Tor drifts slowly closer but halts mere feet from you, "The living are tenacious aren't they? Rather than let us sweep through this galaxy and move on they just -had- to interfere. You weren't the first to fall but with your loss and the Wormstars destruction we lost our greatest fleets and soon the rest of the Court crumbled over time due to the war or betrayals. Some members of the court became stronger in the aftermath but most eventually did fall," you were surprised she was keeping her composure so well, her clearly insane wraiths hadn't left a good impression.

She continues, "Do you remember those that defeated you? The Wasps armored with living crystal?"

There is a flash in your mind and you are standing on the hull of your Mausoleum as it drifts powerless and and crippled. Your fleet drift in wrecks around you, nimble craft of red and blue crystal spinning through the darkness with beams of light slicing through those that remained. Your physical body, a creation of heavy armor and slashing talons, is crumbling and broken. Kyn'tk, an unnamed spear, writhing and lashing out in desperation in the heavy grasp of a creature shrouded in shifting fractal crystals like a living armor. Large crimson eyes that form a large portion of their head stare down at you, a rip in space tearing open next to it and it flings your spear through the portal before it seals.

A voice buzzes from the creature, hardly taller than five feet but, "I judge thee profane and worthy only of true death!" the wasp lunges forward, its arm thrust forth with crystal blades forming in a split second to pierce through your already crumbling armor. Pain as you had never know flashes through you once more as the Wasp pulls his hand free and in his grasp he holds your Phylactery, the remains of your original life. A coiled worm with flesh petrified to stone from long eons, a cage of crystal growing from its grasp to cage it.

As your physical form crumbles you look past the gloating Wasp, the crystals retreating from its face to show its black chitin as it stands above you. You glance behind it and spot Akka-Tor herself drifting in the distance but she makes no move to assist as your vision goes black.

You are floating one more, eons later in front of the incorporeal undead herself, her station still sucking the life from the sun, "You were there when I was defeated and yet you refused to help?"

She recoils as if struck and the tendrils trailing from her squirm energetically, "The crystals they linked with, the living minds of stone and fractal possibilities, they ate the Necrotic. Consumed it like we consume the living. There was nothing I could do to save you and not risk my own true death!" her voice escalating until your very bones vibrate despite the lack of any atmosphere to transfer the force of her shouting

There was another flash and you spy a fleet made of dark stone, golden light and brilliant fire arranged side-by-side with the Crystalline ships of constantly growing and shrinking crystal. They surround what remained of the Wormstar, significantly smaller than the last you had seen it yourself, the sickly flames from its dying form drained by several colossal structures of crystal and metal, the prototypes of the Suneaters fortress.

The Wormstar was within the orbit of another star, this one large and brilliantly orange. The greatest of the stone and gold ships begins to glow bright, bright enough that the golden sun on its hull matches the fury of the sun behind it. A solar flare bursts from the star but it does not curl back in on itself, instead channeled by the Sunscale ship and the lash of solar flame crashes across the Wormstar.

You can hear its dying screams, even through distant time and memory, as its surface begins to crack and burn. Once fields of roiling, twisting flesh covering the burning heart of the sentient sun, now withered and diseased burns and crumbles.

You feel the pain, deep in your skull, as you watch the Wormstar die.

Yet, there in the cosmic distance, you spy Akka-Tor once more calmly watching the assassination of a member of the Undying Court.

Once more you stand before her, the Wraith looking at you curiously with head tilted comically far, "Jadyk? Have I lost you once more?"

You feel a voice, from within your armor and bones, "A gift of knowledge, freely given," the voice of the Mask within you intones

How shall you react to this new knowledge?

I'd say destroy her, but we're in the heart of her territory. I feel as though this would end badly for us.
We must leave.
>>
>>45986740
"Your words ring false Akka-Tor. I am leaving. Do not seek me out again traitor, who not only stood by while I fell, but stood by and let the Wromstar die. Which shattered the armada, and destroyed all we had built. You are my friend no more."
>>
>>45986740
Well, I can plainly see that we did a good job not choosing information on the killers of Wormstar, because this gives us pretty much nothing we didn't knew already.

As for actions, let's not throw any accusations right now, when we are in the middle of her fortress, and just ask what the fuck is she up to today. But let's keep in mind that that attitude wasn't really good. Like, right up the valley "I betrayed Undying Court" not really good.
>>
>>45986740
Ask her if she also saw how the Wormstar died.

And, well, we knew we were probably going to be enemies -- we're working with the living and she has a hate boner for them. So, perhaps work with her, in some fashion, before a sudden but inevitable betrayal?
>>

Increasingly uncomfortable questions:

How did the Wormstar die?
I saw a palace like yours killing the Wormstar.
I saw you there too.
>>
>>45987073
>>45987089
Yeah, let's ask about Wormstar, but keep it at that. Again, middle of her fortress is not a really good place to let her know that we suspect her in a quite possibly real betrayal.
>>
>>45986740
Probably should also ask if she knows where the Wormstar's remains are.
>>
>>45987236

Yeah, ask about the wormstar , but keep it vague, and start work on one of theose Giant requiems with nectrotic eating abilities.

Your throne slides across the stone of the platform with a screech of stone and metal and you seat yourself on it, Kyn'tk writhing angrily but you calm it and yourself before speaking, your voice firm, "Tell me, my old friend. How did the Wormstar perish? Do you have knowledge of where it's corpse lies? Your Wraith spoke of other fragments."

The Suneater starts to drift in a circle around you, "Have you heard of the Sunscale? Vicious creatures. They worship the stars and the cosmic void and somehow, they answer their prayers. They hate us, the undead and necrotic," she shrugs, small jets of solar flame flickering along her ethereal body, "Who could ever hate us? We bring enlightenment and eternity to their brief lives and yet they still hate us!"

She turns to you as she returns to drift in front of you once more, "The Sunscale, the Red-Eyed Wasps, and the Crystalline Minds, they are the ones who slayed the Wormstar! With your death the Wormstar was weakened and distracted," her voice escalates the lowers, almost mournful, "I wish there had been a way for me to interfere and protect you and the Wormstar. It was always friendly to me."

You almost laugh. The Wormstar had found her disquieting itself, unable to peel back the shroud that hid her from its gaze, this you remember at least. Instead you ask, "Again, I must ask if you know it's corpses location. It would be of great use to me."

>>
>>45987388
Yeah, we should probably make an assload of glutton spheres of all sizes attuned to necrotic energy oat the first chance as well.
>>
>>45987598
She glances furtively at her grand palace behind her then back to you, "I can show you the system it died in but I know not it's true location. I had ventured myself to its deathsite, after the enemy had left, but the system was empty except for the echoes of its death. I am sorry, my dear darling Jadyk. I feel as if I have failed you even more. My Wraiths will keep their eyes and ears and antennae and minds and hearts open and searching. We will help you find the Wormstar and gain vengeance for the pains you have suffered," she drifts ever closer, her alien visage inches from yours

"Tell me, my sweet little Worm. Tell me what I can do to help you?" she asks with convincing sincerity yet you feel the wooden mask twitch within your ribcage as if recoiling from her
>>
>>45987616
Telling me the truth would be a wonderful start Akka-Tor. For example I know you did not make this place, and our little chat has brought back some memories. How did you acquire it?

So I must depart for about half an hour to an hour to deal with some stuff real quick. I'll be back and we can wrap up the thread.

>>
>>45987658
We have to consider the disturbing possibility that these towers are in fact her own creation, and not reverse engineered from the scales or crystals. We could probably stand to let her know she's lying though.
>>
Echoing what a few other people have said. Get more information about the palace's origin, ask whether she is trapped in any way. When we leave she should not know that we think she is a traitor.
>>
>>45988050
Asking whether there is anything she needs help with could reveal more about her weaknesses and motives.
>>
We need to make a stupid amount of really big Glutton Spheres. It's effective against many things, but it might be our only weapon and defense against Akka-Tor. Similar tech once defeated us too.

Ask Akka-Tor if she has found a way to beat the Crystal-using technology that lead to the fall of the Undying Court.

You do not recoil from her though, "I shall ruminate upon that request Akka-Tor. This is all quite a lot to take in for now," Instead you motion to the grand structure behind her, "But please, tell me about this creation of yours. I've never seen something so radiant. I truly lives up to you new moniker."

Akka-Tor's giggle echoes out as she drifts back and turns to look at the creation herself, "It is rather grand isn't it? I used this cradle of destruction to wipe away dozens of stars and countless lives in retribution for your death, and the Undying Courts of course!" she added as she spun back around, "I'm so glad you like it," she says with a grin that curls off in endless spirals of teeth

"How did you come to create such a thing? I cannot imagine the resources that went into it's production," you were intrigued with the station, the potential of power gained from it was nearly unimaginable.

"Oh I can't be giving away alllllll my secrets now, can I? You wouldn't have reason to visit me again," she croons, slithering close, circling your throne and trailing an incorporeal hand along the stone.

"Perhaps there was something I could assist you with, oh Suneater? Some aid my remade fleets could offer," you say, glancing at her as she drifts past

"So generous you are! There are few things that bother me but I shall decide where your talents would be best directed, hm?" Akka-Tor comes to a halt in front of you, "Oh! Yes yes, I have a task for you my dear," she rubs her palms together then spreads them, a Mask cracked and broken into several pieces floating between them, "Should you encounter the Masked...." she trails off, her eyeless gaze looking past you before snapping to you once more

"Kill them for me."

>>
>>45989491

Fuck this whore.

Really, fuck the Masked in general but this whore especially.

Hell, let's be real here, SHE probably WAS one of the Masked, nobody knows who the fuck her patron was, the Masked were around to witness the Wormstar, the Wormstar -A living STAR of Flesh and Necrotic energy, and the fucking Void both could not discern her, and she just HAPPENS to have a broken mask.
>>
>>45989671
I Think we can agree that both sides seem to be shady as fuck at the moment, though the idea of her as a former Masked is quite interesting
>>
>>45989671
>>45989896
She probably wanted the Wormstar's Necrotic power for herself and got Masked aid up until they didn't let her harvest the shards. She engineered our defeat(and likely our survival) and our master's death. However just as she was to become a Goddess the Masked spirited the shards away. This left her powerless to stop the Armada from faltering and fucked the treacherous bitch over.
>>
>>45989896
I had a hunch she was affiliated or somehow linked to the masks before this, the fact she held off on contacting us until after our bet with the masked was finished suggested she had some idea of what we were up to. Either way, I'm glad we didn't agree to give the masked an unspecified favor now.

You are afraid she could hear the mask clattering against your bones but she seems unaware. Bowing your head as your throne lifts up several inches from the platform, "I shall see what I can do. For now, it has been enlightening seeing you again Akka-Tor. I have a feeling we will be seeing each other again but for now I must return to my empire."

Akka-Tor nods and sways in the unseen breeze, "Go my friend. We each have our dominions to tend to," she claps her hands together and the broken mask disappears, "Beware the lies of those that would manipulate you, Jadyk the Worm. Find the difference between lies and truth."

She is withdrawn into the Suneating machine as the platform retracts once more into the greater structure, leaving you floating on your throne in the void of space.

Returning to your own ship, your mind heavy with this encounter, you depart and join with your fleet. You leave an Eyegore behind in the strange system with the binary planets and the floating ocean between them. You hope that the upgraded stealth abilities of the satellite craft would keep it hidden from the Wraiths.

Once home in Horizon's Drop you look across the moon and clack your jaw in delight. Your Flagship floats above the moon, unsecured and dormant, only requiring your personal touch to come to "life". The Deep Rot reaches out to you

Since we seem to form different orders frighteningly fast, I was wondering. Could we expand on our "magic" types? With the unlocked telepathy research, could we find "telepaths" among the living? One of the lurking anons from earlier, thanks for running.
I have a design for a close range Heavy Cruiser meant to cause serious damage:

Plasma Weaver Heavy Cruiser: 150B 310M-Total
6 Acid-Drop Missile Pods Cost: 10B 10M each
3 Hull Plasma Waves
12 Fixed Plasma Waves
14 Turret Necroflensers
6 Auxiliary Repeater Cannons
Void Drive
Reinforced Shielding Cost: 40B 40M
Thermal Shielding Cost: 10B

>The Plasma Weaver Heavy Cruiser was designed for close combat with the enemies of the Armada.
>Boasting three hull mounted and twelve fixed Plasma waves as the main armament, this Heavy Cruiser can melt away enemy ships given the chance.

This the first time I've tried building something using this template so I might have messed up somewhere.
I calculated the cost of everything but the weapons(excluding the Acid drops) as I couldn't find a reference for the cost

Also Grave Are we able to create space platforms?
I feel like Orbital platforms that contain a single massive Spine Cannon would be a good defense.
We don't even have to place them in orbit, We can place them in empty space in the system to provide cover for our ships

>>45997839
You could vote to have Glutton Spheres included into the Dirge and Requiem as a standard inclusion.

Dirges would simply have their torsos replaced with a normal sized glutton sphere while the Large Spheres would have to be included outside of the Requiems since the spheres are quite large after all.

Include the Glutton Spheres into the Dirge and Requiem units? This will increase their price of course.
>>
>>45998375
Put normal glutton spheres in both, just more in the requiem, but aside from that Y
>>
>>45998375
We can afford it. They aren't great at moving, so they need some measure of defense against strong energy attacks. Their telekinesis can provide some defense against physical attacks, including projectiles IIRC.

>>45998466
That sounds good. If the Requiem isn't big enough for a large Glutton Sphere, it can take two regular ones. That could be even better, since it could be tuned to two different energy types at once.
>>
>>45998375
I'm fine with that.
>>
>>45998375
Yes. Also, would it be possible to equip them, or at least the requiems, with an array of glutton spheres all attuned to all forms of energy? If we can provide them a resistance to arc, void, and necrotic energies at the same time we won't have to go to the effort of creating and tracking specialized units.
>>
>>45999666
Trying to cover them all at once might be a little excessive compared to just having more of them. Remember that the glutton spheres can be retuned to different energy types as needed, too. If a Requiem can fit three glutton spheres, great, but if not we still have the flexibility of tuning them before a battle with a given enemy.

There's also more energy types out there, it seems. There's a strong chance that the Sunscales command some kind of solar energy.
>>
>>45997317
Which unstated ships, the Destroyers and Battleships? A general purpose loadout would be preferable, what you've been doing so far with the standard ship designs works.
>>
>>45999666
Despite your spooky Double-Trips, Requiems do have three Glutton Spheres included with them but they can only be attuned to a single type. They can be attuned before deployment or as the situation arises by a Think Tank or any unit capable of using a Reaver Staff
>>
>>46002280
>They can be attuned before deployment or as the situation arises by a Think Tank
I assume that includes demi-think-tanks, the combat-support variants of the standard think tanks.

>>
>>46002280

Since apparently anything can be upscaled to ship-based combat, can we adapt the combat telepathy to ships? Like ship-sized dirges, or adaptations that replace fixed and hull mounted weapons with telepathic crystals?
>>
>>45990918
Telekinesis is not something you have seen in the living, at least not yet. As far as you can tell telekinetic potential is an artificial creation. The Wormstar bestowed it upon you and you onto your generals in turn. The Monoliths used crystal tech for theirs which you have reverse engineered to create the Dirges, another artificial telekinetic.

There is the chance that there are those out there with the ability naturally, you just have not found them yet.

>is there a possibility to find and train Arc users among the living
Of course!
Now you just need the Punishers to gain a unique power

>There's also more energy types out there, it seems. There's a strong chance that the Sunscales command some kind of solar energy.

I think that any 'magic' type you can think of from any other settings is present in this setting in one form or another. And no one has monopoly on any energy type. I'm sure we could also wield solar powers if we found out how.
Also, I'm going to bet that Akka-Tor can use solar powers as well.
We could gain magma powers from lava father easily enough and I think that the Amartocere have their own energy type as well (probably 'life' or something like that)

At this point we have access or can gain easy access to:
-Necrotic
-Void
-Arc Lightning
-Magma
energy types.

We need to start having different load-outs for our ships. A single ship can only wield one type of weapon if I recall correctly, so we can't mix and match.
We need to be versatile, if at this point we fight the sunscale, they will wipe the floor with us because they are min-maxed against necrotic types.

..... I wonder if we sic the Sunscale on Akka-Tor.

I don't know if the Lavafather's powers pertain to a unique form of energy, I've always assumed that he was just spraying superheated liquid rock with his weapons. It would be awesome if that was the case though, we might be able to turn him into a space born flagship-volcano in time if that's the case. And I think Jyoti might be mixing and matching the weapon loadouts of our common ship designs to suit the battlefield. I remember some of our ships using plasma waves in our showdown with the Osijic and Akham, even though we didn't specifically equip any with them.

We'd have to make popcorn and invite the Masked over, so we can piss ourselves with laughter together.

Can we develop some kind of harness or armor mod that boosts the telekinetic powers?

Unless Akka-Tor is right and the Masked are lying to us too.

Still, it's not like we're in a position to actually kill the Masked. Might as well tell Picard to kill Q the next time he shows up.

But that's what's so interesting in this conflict we find ourselves in. We have no way of verifying either the Masked or the Sun Eater's respective stories, so we've got no way of telling which one is lying to us with intent to betray us, or if both of them are. Until we find that verification all we can do is continue as is, making piecemeal deals with masked while politely and discreetly hearing out both parties, while refusing to commit ourselves fully to either.

I wonder if this is what it feels like to be lead around by the nose by an unknown interstellar power far greater than your own. Can't say I like it much.

If we can unlock Magma energies, we should empower Agona and her order with it. Turn them into the flaming shield and burning hammer of the New Necrotic Armada. She was the first one to make contact with the Lavafather, after all, he would be more likely to pass it on willingly to her.

Agreed Angona will be as implacable and unmoving as the mountain her fury like that if a raging inferno

Until we discover that the masked are the remains of the wormstar.

Perhaps when we reach the black scales we can discover a weakness of the sunscale and ask why they are so poorly versed in the worm song an providing such flimsy cyborgs for the confederates

Pretty sure Akka-Tor conspired with the Masked to get us KO'd and the Wormstar killed. However the Masked shared the Wormstar to deny her it's power, which is why she hates them. The Necrotic Armada was unbeatable from without, and it was getting boring for the masked to watch us always win. So they got a power hungry bitch to backstab from within after giving her a mask. Then when she realized how badly she fucked everything over, she shattered the mask she was given in a fit of rage, and hates them to this day.

Think about it, she wasn't surprised we resurfaced, my guess is she had a hand in our sealing. After all if things went to her plan, we'd get KO'D, Wormstar would be groggy enough to kill and missing it's biggest defender. Then she could kill it and steal it's power. After that she was probably planning on waking us up and spinning some bullshit to have us serve her.

You know, it looks like no one entity has monopoly on one type of energy. Void powers can be used by "evil" factions like the Necrotic Armada and "good" factions like the Sunscale. That means we could find a way to use solar powers like the Sunscale and then they wont have any advantages on us.

To assume Akka-Tor was single handedly responsible for the entire collapse of the Necrotic Armada requires a lot of assumptions though. Don't forget we Jadyk was getting hammered on all sides by multiple factions that specialized in countering Necrotic energy and it's uses. To me it looks like she conspired with the masks to allow us to fall, after which she conveniently swooped in and cannibalized the Wormstar and whatever remained of our fleet before the Sunscales crushed it. She was pretty surprised to see we survived, she took like a week to decide on how to react.

But even then, this is all assumes that all the info the Masked have been feeding us is completely true and accurate. But the Masked are as big on manipulating friendly or neutral powers into conflict as we are. It would be completely in character of them to butter up Jadyk and deceive him into conflict with Akka-Tor. What better way to attack a known enemy than tricking her friends into betraying them?

The point remains that no matter who suspect of deceiving us, we have no way of confirming them beyond any reasonable doubt. We need to more evidence of what really happened and until then all we can do is try to maintain appearances and not antagonize either party.
>>
Just think, if we had originally picked Akka-Tor or Ghul instead Jadyk in the first thread we'd likely be going up against Jadyk himself

Quite probably. I remember asking Jyoti about this, and he basically implied he had no precise plans as to what shape the other two PC options would be in once the quest started. He seems to have the nature of the big three and their respective patrons of the undead court, but outside of that he's been writing things up to best suit the quest.

If we'd picked Akka-Tor, we at the very least would've figured out who her patron is by now.

If she even has one. Starting to suspect she might be working for numero uno

We should let the Osogo get acclimated a bit, then pimp them out with our equipment, give them transport with bodyguards and send dozens of them to other Osogo tribes to act as missionaries. We need to fold the entire Osogo population under us.

Also, when are we going to start the construction of a capital city on Rukor? I think it should be on the sole continent of the planet, as close as possible to as much as possible ructu. We could also give cauldron-forged boats to Ructu in all villages so that they can easily visit the city.
