You are Urist Twelfthbay, the moe personification of Dwarf Fortress. While you ARE a short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry, the rigid anime-steeped physical laws of Gamindustri conspire against you, making you look like an adorable little girl (as opposed to a barrel-shaped slab of muscled beard).

"Hgghhhlloooaoroghhhghh gosh it's all so /green/ nnghhwwwaoooooargh-"

Right now, you're watching your own body throw up all over the place, rubbing your back consolingly. Because you'd swapped bodies with the airheaded goddess of all things Sega. And then you got steamed at her efforts to make you look ~cute~. And then, finally, you'd proceeded to take her for a ride through all the ways to make a dwarven body catastrophically and graphically nauseous: exposure to sunlight, uncontrolled high-speed high-altitude flight, and copious amounts of non-lethal violence.

Surprisingly enough, you feel a little bad about losing control and tantruming. Neptune didn't mean anything bad by it, she was just... y'know. Being Neptune-ly annoying. You're just frustrated at how easily your body snapped back into its default adorable state, despite all the effort you'd put into keeping yourself looking like a properly dwarven /adventurer/ instead of some lonely nerd's little sister fantasy.

"- nngnhahhahhhghhgh why isn't this censored, what happened to rainbow-colored streams of sparkly stuff that you're supposed to get instead bllllaararrragggggh-"

... on the other hand, she DID put you in cat lingerie. And you didn't even think you were capable of /bouncing/, in every meaning of the phrase.

(Cont.)
>>
>>45970596
Anyway, you've got bigger things to worry about. First and foremost, you really, really, really want to get your own body back, because you're getting real tired of this bullshit. That's priority number one.

Still, before THAT, Blanc's still down in the cavern levels of your fortress, trying to figure out why explosions were happening. And Shovel Knight's still out cold, recovering from a few days spent in the company of a mind-controlling tentacled void monstrosity. And on top of that, you've still got an open connection to Histoire, and you don't have much time to ask her some very important questions before she goes inert for the day.

... most importantly, you've got Nep-sister standing right here. You still don't have any clue about how you're going to break the news to Neptune; there's no good, delicate, /tactful/ way to say that you accidentally created a new goddess of Sega out of thin air.

Once Neptune finishes losing her lunch (and breakfast, and dinner, and /yesterday's/ lunch), you bodily drag her through a pool of stagnant water to clean off her mess. About half a minute later, your own body stands in front of you, looking like a drowned rat as Neptune hugs herself. All those braids are heavy as hell when they're soaked through; thankfully, Neptune wraps them around herself, hiding that thrice-damned cat lingerie from sight and making your body look /decent/ again.

(Cont.)
>>
>>45970623
... she ruins it by puffing out her (your) cheeks, making herself look like a put-out chipmunk. "That was mean, Urist! And unnecessarily!" she pouts. "Cute girls are justice! Cat lingerie is also justice! Put them together and you've got /double/ justice, you- you double-"

"U-Um..."

Neptune visibly perks up at mini-Nep's hesitant interjection, forgetting all about your injustice as she studies the long-haired goddess. "Oh! Urist, who's this cutie patootie you've got here?" Neptune circles her like an overexcited shark around a bucket of chum, tilting her head curiously; meanwhile, the mini-Nep shrinks in on herself, clearly not enjoying being the center of attention, and she silently looks to you for help.

... nnghk. Those puppy-dog eyes are hard to resist.

[ ] [FULL DISCLOSURE] Neptune, meet mini-Nep, the newest goddess-slash-little-sister of Sega that you'd created out of thin air for some absolutely inscrutable reason.
[ ] [PARTIAL DISCLOSURE] Oh, this girl? She's, uh, a new friend you'd picked up on the way here. She'll get along smashingly with Neptune, you can just feel it.
[ ] [NOPE DISCLOSURE] Look, we'll talk about this later, okay? Right now, you've got to get back to your fortress- it's not safe out here. Also, Histoire's told you how you can swap your bodies back, and that's more important, right?
[ ] [PASS THE BALL] Let mini-Nep introduce herself. You can't keep talking on her behalf; she's a goddess in her own right, and she's gotta learn to handle the Nep sooner rather than later.

>>
>>45971337
Haha no.
It's ours sister/daughter. Made by us. It's not our fault Neptune can't use her own powers for shit.
>>
I've been wondering something. Goddesses represent consoles/console-producing companies, so they're different from most adventurers. But is there a difference between a company personification and a game personification? Is one more powerful than the other, or have different abilities? Or are they functionally the same? (My apologies if this is already addressed in the games.)

Also, what is the relationship between a company and the games they make? The only hint we've seen of this is that DK works for Blanc. But what would the connection between, say, Vavlie and Tiff be, or Naughty Dog and Uncharted?

Also I may have done some brainstorming as to what a PC nation might have been like if one had always existed in Gamindustri, if anyone cares.

I am putting far more thought than I should into this quest.

"Wow, even underneath all this fire, she's a real catch!"

"U-Um, please don't-"

You look between the mini-goddess and the dwarf-inhabiting goddess; Neptune's poking at that battle bikini, while mini-Nep looks about ready to bolt, clearly not up for this kinda scrutiny on the first day of her existence.

As tempted as you are to just... not have to deal with this shit right now, you know damn well that you'll have to deal with this shit sometime. Besides, since the hyperdimensional void isn't trying to murder you at this moment, it's as good a time as any to set the record straight.

So you walk right up and clap the original Nep-Nep on the back, very nearly bowling her over. "Neptune, this right here's a new goddess of Sega, and she's technically your little sister or something."

Neptune pauses like a deer caught in headlights, her happy-go-lucky expression freezing up. "Heh?" she squeaks, staring at you uncomprehendingly. "Wait, I... what?"

You ignore her, turning to the equally wide-eyed mini-goddess. "This right here's the true goddess of Planeptune and all things Sega, and also your big sister," you continue relentlessly, patting the shell-shocked Neptune on the head. "We accidentally swapped bodies, y'see."

"W-Wait, I have a little sister now?" Neptune keeps muttering, looking between you and mini-Nep like she can't decide whether to be ecstatic, terrified, or terminally confused. "She's my- wait, but- what?"

Mini-Nep has... oh, well, she has the /exact same expression/ on her face as SHE looks between you and Neptune. "W-Wait, you're my- no, YOU'RE my-"

You nod sagely. Yup, you did a damn fine job bringing them up to speed. "Okay, now that that's settled-"

"A little sister!? I'm not ready for this sort of responsibility!!" Neptune suddenly shrieks, hands against her cheeks in terrified horror.

"I-I was an accidental biiiiiirth!" Mini-Nep wails, falling to her knees in despair, and big fat tears trail down her cheeks as she immediately takes the wrong lesson from all of this.

As the Neps fall to pieces around you, you stare balefully up at the sky with dead, blank eyes. You can handle rampaging bloodthirsty elephants and crippling glitches just fine, but Armok is one sick, twisted bastard to put you through this meat grinder of bullshit plot twists and horribly awkward circumstances.

And ten seconds later, that's how Mojang finds you when she finally catches up on foot: with Neptune rolling on the ground in utter terror of incipient big-sister-hood, and mini-Nep sinking into a bottomless pit of depression and existential crisis.

Mojang stares at the two of them before looking up at you. "Oneechan..."

"This is not what it looks like," you deadpan. "It's far, far worse-"

"No, that's not it- I mean, I'm really interested in what happened here, but- um!" Mojang twitches toward Neptune, and then mini-Nep, like she's not sure who to console first. "We should get back inside and repair the outer walls! It's going to flood again soon!"

... oh, hell, the hyperdimensional oceanic flooding, that's right. You'd almost forgotten about that-

>What if a PC nation had existed!

Huh. That's some pretty cool world-building, anon!

About game companies, I've mostly shoved them under a rug, letting the games themselves take front stage. The closest things to companies is that adventurers tend to congregate in corresponding groups- for instance, we've seen the Capcom group in this quest (Megaman, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and Ghosts 'n Goblins), and Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy have a love-hate relationship.

IIRC, though, the Neptunia series does have sponsoring companies throughout Gamindustri that build new weapons/toys/robots for their nations. And some of the newer games are creating characters based on game companies (Squaresoft, Konami, etc) and magazines.

Actually, yeah, I got the idea off of the Hyperdevotion Noire spinoff! I loved the character designs, but the game itself.... kinda suffered in every other area. Like gameplay. And Gary McSelfinsert, who looked and felt like a jarring last-minute addition calculated to increase pandering levels over the maximum.

Okay. Urist needs to clarify things and clear up flooding. Mojang can seal up the caverns of doom. We can do this. Things will be fine.

>[X] [WALLS FIRST, SEND MOJANG DOWN]
>[X] [CONSOLE MINI-NEP]

Your mind races quickly. Right, okay, a breach down to the SECOND cavern levels is bad, but not immediately life-threatening (unless a forgotten beast spawns, in which case you're all /double/ fucked). First things first, these outer walls need to go back up before you all drown in water, aaaaand you can't leave these two Neps falling to pieces like this, so. Mojang-

"Don't worry, oneechan!" she cuts you off, rolling up her sleeves and shooting you a quick guts pose. "I'll look after these two and fix the walls, so you go and take care of whatever's going on down there!"

Er... well, actually, you were thinking of doing it the other way around, 'cause you gotta take care of these dumb Neps. Besides, Mojang's better at that whole diplomacy thing, and you trust her to take care of a cavern breach.

Somehow, that takes Mojang off-guard. For a moment, she blinks at you, like she's getting a good look at you for the first time in a while. When she finds what she's looking for, your surrogate little sister seems to light up brighter than she's ever been, nodding her agreement. "O... okay! Um, I'll, I'll see you in a few!"

She waves before skipping off- /skipping/!- and you're stuck staring after her. Where the hell did that good mood come from?

"I'm so sorry! That was a terrible first impression!" Neptune wails, clinging onto mini-Nep and ignoring the flames. Weak as those spectral fires seem to be, it's a good thing you'd just drenched her. "You're far too young and impressionable to see so much skin, or to hear so many memes!"

"N-No, it's my fault!" Mini-Nep wails, clinging right back. "I shouldn't have been born! It's my fault for burdening you with my existence, and causing a schism in the Planeptune church when word gets out of my illegitimate birth, and for failing to be as good a goddess as my big sis!"

Jeez. Okay, this has gone on for long enough. You pick up both crying Neps, one under each arm, and fly back to your fortress, doing your best to ignore the surround sound experience going on right next to your ears.

Once you arrive, you just sort of... set Nep and Mini-Nep on the floor, where they continue crying and clinging to each other. So you put off the task of consoling two distressed goddesses in favor of surveying the shattered wall. You spend a moment looking for any signs of holes that look like Neptune's Urist-shaped head before realizing that this's clearly /Mojang's/ work: all the stonework's been scorched, and there are traces of gunpowder everywhere.

... well, that's good, that means 1) you aren't technically responsible for breaching your own fortress in a fit of pique, and 2) you didn't break your own body's head to shatter an entire wall. Granted, you figured out #2 by virtue of the fact that Neptune isn't dead and you aren't stuck in a goddess's body for all eternity, but still.

Embarrassingly enough, you proceed to spend a good ten seconds stacking rocks on top of each other, and trying to hold them in place to turn them into solid unbreakable constructions, before you realize that you can't do this in Neptune's body.

Which is weird, because you could /sorta/ use DFHack and Therapist without too many problems. Still, you let it go: there're probably limits to how much you can fudge your powers, or some fuzzy line between powers that're bound to your soul and those that're physically bound to your dwarven body. The last thing you want to do is to try pushing those limits.

So you walk over to your dwarven body, which CAN make Dwarf Fortress-esque constructions, and shake her by the shoulder. Neptune. Hey, Neptune-

"H-Huh?" Neptune wipes at her face, staring up at you blearily. "Is it time to dispute child custody rights?"

Wh- no! Fucking hell, just- you need her help, because she's the only one who can build properly watertight and eternally unbreakable walls!

"Eeeh? I can't do that!" she insists, shaking her head. You're forced to step back, because you know from experience that the motion swings her wet, sodden braids like goddamn boulders.

N... no, okay, look, you'll walk her through it, okay? All she has to do is access the building menu, then the constructions menu, so it's (b)-(C), then (w), and then (u), (m), (k), and (h) to change the size of-

"I experimented with your powers, but I spent, like, thirty minutes just trying to figure out how to navigate your alphabet soup menu!"

You sigh, glancing over at mini-Nep before kneeling down next to the elder Nep. Do it for her, you whisper in Neptune's ear. Show her what it means to have a reliable big sis.

Sure, that's dirty pool, but it /works/. Neptune immediately hops back to her feet like she's been hit by some lightning bolt of competency, and plops her hands on her hips. "Right! Leave it to me!" she crows, winking down at mini-Nep. "I'll get this wall back up before we receive a grim reminder of what we live in fear of! Uuuuwhoaaaaaaa-"

You watch Neptune flailing ineffectively at the wall for a moment, before nodding in satisfaction. Yup, she's every bit as ditzy as you'd feared, but that wall will still come back up sooner than later. So you turn to mini-Nep. Good news is, she's not technically crying anymore, as she watches her (legitimate) big sister with wide eyes.

The bad news is, she DID say all that stuff earlier about her being an accident, and, uh. You're not /entirely/ sure what to say here, or if you even should say anything right now.

You scratch your- Neptune's- head. Gods, you can't wait until you can get back in your own body.

>[X] [CONSOLING & COMFORTING!]

You feel for mini-Nep, really. Getting yanked into existence through no fault of your own is confusing enough as it is; it's even worse once you realize that you weren't /intentionally/ brought into this madcap nonsensical wildly anime-esque world.

Hell, /you/ were dropped into the Gamindustri Graveyard. And the closest thing you had to an older sister was Keeper, who apparently made your earliest years so traumatic that your brain purged /all/ those memories. So yeah, you can sympathize with mini-Nep's mildly-traumatized existential crisis.

You look down at mini-Nep again. She's not crying, per se, but her tears haven't dried yet, and she's still sniffling a little.

Thing is, you're in a position where you can make a difference in someone else's formative days. Might as well give her the sort of comfort your younger self never got to experience, huh?

Without giving yourself too much time to think about what you're about to do, you sit yourself down next to the mini-Nep and pull her into a one-armed hug. It's... awkward as hell, because you're not used to being /taller/ than someone (and you have to be careful not to slice her up with CPU Purple Heart's claws, what the hell is with these gloves?). But still.

"Hweh?" Mini-Nep squeaks, shrinking in on herself. Jeez, she's as rigid as tense as a wooden log. "What... what is it? What is this?"

It's a hug, dammit, a hug!

"No, I mean, it's..." She allows herself to relax, just slightly. "It's comfortable. And warm. Is this supposed to happen?" she asks worriedly, like she's waiting for the other shoe to drop, or like she's expecting everything terrible to happen to her because she can't possibly be allowed to have good things.

... Armok help you, that's, like, the most depressing thing ever, fucking /hell/.

You clear your throat awkwardly, staring woodenly ahead. Look, she's totally allowed to have nice things happen to her, okay?

"I... I don't know..." Mini-Nep murmurs, poking her index fingers together. "I mean, if I'm an accident, and I think I am, because big sis- I mean, um, my big sis who's a goddess- she looked super-surprised and worried. So if I'm just a bother-"

Okay, she's just wallowing in her own misery now, so you cut her short. Look, she's not an accident, okay? If she keeps on calling herself that, you're going to hit her with a training axe.

"Huh? But you said-"

You cut her short /again/, this time by turning to face mini-Nep straight on and knocking your foreheads together. She is /not/ an accident, you growl, glaring at her from point-blank range. You reached in and concentrated every bit of CPU Purple Heart's power to fulfill a desperate need- the need to have someone save your ass- and mini-Nep is the one who answered your call. You didn't specifically call for /her/, but you meant every goddamn bit of it. So no more of that woe-is-me-I'm-an-accident stuff, okay?

Mini-Nep blinks, her big purple eyes wide and guileless. "B-But-"

You pull back before lightly headbutting her again, eliciting a strangled yelp. No buts, dammit. You saw her take apart those tentacles in combat like it was a piece of cake. Hell, she's even good at building with that mini-forge, so she's got this whole goddessly business of creation and destruction down pat. She's better at this than /you'll/ ever be!

She stares at you from, like, an inch away. "Do... do you really think s- okay, okay, don't headbutt me again!!" she stammers as you grimly pull back for another go. "I'm just! I'm just really..."

Just really?

Mini-Nep smiles, tentatively. "... really happy," she admits. "That I'm not an accident, I mean. I'm glad you-"

"I see how it is!" Neptune yodels, bodily hurling herself at you and knocking you both down. As you struggle to get up, she's either trying to pull the two of you into a group hug or drowning you both in those huge dwarven braids. Both, maybe. "You've taken away my role as the main character, and now you're trying to steal my little sister through sitcom-style counseling and skinship!?"

O-Okay, okay! Neptune'll be getting her /own/ sisterly bonding time with mini-Nep, okay!? Just get off already!

"Such defiance! I'm a goddess, you know!"

"O-Oneechan, I can't, I can't breathe-"

"Aah! Nep Jr.! Where'd you go!?"

"Y-Your braids... too thick..."

Armok help you.

You spend a few more minutes helping Neptune fix the wall- she did as well as you'd expect from a beginner, meaning she ended up with half the wall chunks in "construction suspended" mode due to improper positioning- before heading back to your fortress's storeroom/main entrance, Neptune and mini-Nep in much higher spirits than before.

"Yo."

- only to be greeted by the sight of Mojang and a disheveled Blanc dragging along two unconscious, beaten-up adventurers by the collars of their shirts, handling them with as much care as she would sacks of plump helmets. She drops them to the floor with a 'thud' that makes even you wince, let alone Mojang.

Huh. Tiff and Thravar.

"They going at each other like a cat and a dog," Blanc mutters, answering your unspoken question. "Except most household animals don't have more high-yield explosives than they have sense."

Right. You shoot a glance to Mojang, who shrugs helplessly. Okay, well, in light of Blanc's overwhelming violence, it looks like your surrogate little sister's diplomacy wasn't needed- at least not yet. Later, you'll need to ask Tiff and Thravar WHY they were fighting with enough firepower to end your fortress prematurely; they didn't strike you as that kinda people, since Tiff isn't /insane/ and Thravar seemed tired of fighting.

Jeez. If Blanc wasn't already the goddess of all things Nintendo, you'd almost be prepared to let her in as an honorary dwarf.

"There's a hole in the first cavern layer leading down to the next, but I sealed the breach with cobblestone," Mojang reports cheerfully. You can't help but note that she always, always flicks her gaze toward your dwarven body before looking back to you; force of habit's a hard thing to break. "It'll hold back most monsters long enough to get something stronger down there!"

Whatever you were about to say gets cut off as Histoire clears her throat. You turn to face the floating Key Fragments, and you swear they dip slightly, like a polite nod of one's head.

=I'm very sorry for interrupting,= Histoire says. =But I thought I should let you know two things. First, Shovel Knight is perfectly healthy, and she bears no major injuries- mentally or otherwise- from her time in the void. She simply needs to sleep for another few hours.=

You sag in place, and a weight lifts from your shoulders. Thank fucking god for that.

=Second, about the new goddess...= The Key Fragments swivel to face mini-Nep, who instinctively flinches back a little. Histoire pauses for a moment, noticeable even to you, before smoothly continuing on in her trademark clipped, precise tone of voice. =My name is Histoire. I'm commonly referred to as Gamindustri's Oracle, and it is my duty to, among other things, assist the goddesses in any way that I can. It's a pleasure to meet you.=

"Ah... me too. I mean, um, likewise, miss Histoire," mini-Nep replies hesitantly. "I don't have a name yet, but I'll let you know once I have one."

You can't see Histoire's face, but you can /feel/ her... her relief? Her smile? Something like that. =I await that warmly, younger goddess of Planeptune. I'm sure we shall get along quite well.=

(Cont.)
>>
>>45978321
She turns to face the rest of you. =Anyway, you will be happy to know that while she is not quite stable, she is in no danger of drastically destabilizing or suffering a terminal existence failure.=

"W-Wait!" Neptune squawks, wrapping her arms protectively around mini-Nep's midsection. Jeez; with your body as short as it is, she looks like a kid hugging her older sister, not the other way around. "What do you mean by that? She's not Schrodinger's cat! She's as stable as can be! She's so cute and soft! As expected of the great goddess Neptune's little sister!"

=Your little sister is not properly attuned to the Planeptune Basilicom's lode of sharicite,= Histoire explains, ignoring about 90% of that with practiced ease. =This is not normally a problem for most new goddesses, as they often manifest within range of an appropriate lode of sharicite, but this is... not your typical situation.=

Neptune opens her mouth to Nep some more, but you cut her off. Run that by you again?

She takes a moment to gather her thoughts, probably to present it in an easy-to-digest format for Neptune. =You are using Neptune's powers, Urist, as well as her body. And while CPU Purple Heart is attuned to Planeptune's sharicite, /you/ are attuned to a properly-sized lode, as well. The one that's... currently a door.=

... jeez, you can /feel/ her wrestling with her sanity as she mentions Temptbleaches the Dutiful Chastity.

=Long story short, and through an obscure, otherwise impossible to access loophole in Gamindustri physics, you easily surpassed the amount of shares required to summon a goddess candidate, which is far greater than the amount needed to keep her firmly rooted in existence.=

Great. So there's no danger, right?

=... for now,= the fairy replies carefully. =It would be best to get her to the Planeptune Basilicom sooner than later, however. Urist, it should not be difficult to calibrate your portal to access certain nations of Gamindustri, although it will not be anything close to accurate. Now-=

Blanc raises her hand, and Histoire trails off, swiveling to face the blue-haired goddess. "Sorry, Histoire. Hold on a second. Something's been bothering me for a while. This should not be possible."

Histoire floats serenely in the air. =Given the circumstances, you really need to be more specific,= she eventually replies, her voice somewhat distant. It's not hard to imagine the thousand-yard stare accompanying that answer.

"Arfoire pulled this little trick decades ago," Blanc growls, pacing back and forth. "Sealing you away and forcing us to waste time looking for the Key Fragments. We freed you back then, we discarded the Key Fragments, and you helped us beat her. And here you are, sealed all over again-"

CPU White Heart prods one of the Key Fragments. Rock dust flakes off, revealing the dull glint of metal below. "- except /these/ Key Fragments look a LOT older than the ones we saw back then. And that's impossible, because I saw you not more than a week ago, safe and sound. What's going on, Histoire?"

Silence reigns for a few frozen moments, brittle and fragile.

Then the Key Fragments dim, their power fading incrementally as they dip lower to the ground. =I cannot answer that now,= Histoire murmurs quietly, her voice strangely vulnerable. =Please, just... recover my Key Fragments. I will answer your questions then.=

Blanc narrows her eyes, traces of that old fire rising from the ashes. "Oi. Histoire..."

=Please remember. What happened was not your fault,= the oracle continues, fading fast. =It was mine.=

The Key Fragments land softly, their power once again spent for the next day or so.

"... that was surprisingly dark!" Neptune chirrups, absolutely ruining the mood as she's wont to do. "But that reminds me-"

"Not now, Neptune," Blanc groans, massaging her temples.

"- I'm glad I kept my Key Fragment in my bedroom drawer!"

The goddess of Nintendo freezes. Slowly, slowly, she looks up, craning her neck as she stares at Neptune. "You what."

"I kept my Key Fragment! You know, the fancy Planeptune Key Fragment!" Neptune winks at Blanc and gives her a thumbs-up, and you shudder at what that vapid cuteness does to your body. "Never dump your key items, because you never know when they might become useful again!"

Blanc opens her mouth. Then, she closes her mouth. Eventually, she settles on the following: "Neptune, you're a genius."

"Don't you call me tha- wait, what?"

"You're a genius," Blanc repeats.

A slow grin spreads across Neptune's face, and she immediately elbows mini-Nep. "See? Your oneechan's a genius!"

"As expected of you, oneechan!" Mini-Nep dutifully chirrups, clasping her hands together. She looks so /proud/, so you let her have this fleeting moment of wonder. Poor girl'll learn the truth soon enough.

Right. You take a deep breath. So the gist of it is:

- Mini-Nep is stable, but could be even more stable (for safety's sake).
- Neptune has one of the Key Fragments in her freaking bedroom drawer, which will help boost Histoire's capabilities as a stopgap measure to freeing her completely (and figuring out what's going on).
- You really, really want to get your body back (like right fucking now), but you need more Seganium before that can happen.
- ... the adventurers in your fort are in-fighting. Why the hell are they in-fighting? That's stupid. They're stupid. And they nearly blew up your fucking caverns.

That... that was a LOT to absorb, but in the meantime, it looks like you've got a few things you can take care of. More than a few things, in fact.

Now the question is, which thing are you gonna take care of first?

>CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
[ ] [COLLECT SEGANIUM] Right. You'll need about another good chunk of the stuff before you can swap bodies with Neptune, so you might as well get cracking. Along the way, you can inspect the security of the caverns yourself. Two birds with one stone!
[ ] [SHORT TRIP TO PLANEPTUNE] Use your portal and make a small detour to Planeptune. Go get mini-Nep properly stabilized before anything unforeseen happens, AND pick up that third Key Fragment while you're at it. Two birds with one stone!
[ ] [ADD BEDROOMS] Take a few hours to break in some new bedrooms before doing anything else. Giving each adventurer (and goddess) their own personal space will greatly decrease the chance of your fort getting wrecked by in-fighting and explosions. May as well go look for Doomgirl, and maybe do a once-over of your surroundings before it floods again. Two birds with one stone!

Right, took me a bit to find the line in the archive, but you wrote:
>It's almost like Rokko has the spark of life in her. You're figuratively speaking, of course- though for all you know, there's LITERALLY something inside her that makes her this way.

So based off this, it seems you're heavily implying that there is a physical thing that acts as her core/powersource/spark, and without it she can't regen.
Now, who do we know who could use some type of heretofore unknown power source? So far the antagonist shown is Arfoire. However, we don't meet Arfoire until after we see Blanc get her own core ripped out. Since Arfoire is a copymonster, and Vert said that Arfoire made clones are distinguishable so long as Arfoire didn't get a good grasp of the character in question...

I have 2 guesses.

1 - Arfoire is using Rokko's grace to supercharge her minions [explaining why Myrra and Keeper have disproportionate power], and is using Blanc's grace to either supercharge herself or fuel her own godess equivalent something.

2 - Arfoire was crippled down to NPC status at the end of the console wars. An unkown 3rd party took Rokko's grace and used it to revive/promote Arfoire - but Rokko's power was not enough and it only boosted Arfoire to adventurer level. So, she gathered minions while hiding her weakness until she could maneuver to the point where she or the 3rd party could steal a goddess' power, thereby promoting Arfoire back to her goddess level of power. Arfoire's initial target was Vert, but Blanc was a crime of opportunity.

Plus, now that Blanc's power has been taken, whats to stop Arfoire from making a true Blanc clone?

>[X] [COLLECT SEGANIUM]

You briefly consider delegating some of these tasks. F'r instance, Mojang's as good as you are at finding ores, if not better, and even Neptune can't mess up digging out simple 3x3 rooms; Armok knows you've got enough space between the entrance and the first cavern levels for any inevitable mistakes. And all the while, you could go with mini-Nep to Planeptune to get her stabilized and pick up the Key Fragments along the way.

Eventually, you reluctantly decide against that idea. For one thing, Therapist's been on the fritz ever since you've gotten back in range of Neptune (who's in your body). It's almost as if there's some sort of heavy interference, stemming from the fact that Therapist is confused why there's TWO of you.

Even if that wasn't the case, it's hard enough to pierce the veil between realities with a working version of Therapist.

And for another thing... well, you'd be going into Planeptune. Wearing Neptune's body, carrying a new goddess along with you, and not knowing at all how to act like CPU Purple Heart.

Knowing your luck, you'd probably get murdered on the spot.

That said, it's time to go get some goddamn Seganium and put an end to this sordid Neptune-inundated chapter of your life once and for all... except you, uh, you can't actually /dig/ in this goddessly body of yours. All the power in the world, and all it can do is 1) dig by hand like a dabbling miner, or 2) dig things out with copious explosions and hellish firepower, which is exactly the opposite that you're looking to achieve here.

Now the question is, who do you bring down to the caverns with you?

Don't forget Neptune is effected by the same thing as Blanc: We're in CPU Purple Heart's body, but it's Neptune's mind in ours. Just like how Blanc's mind is currently in CPU White Heart's body.

Neptune, Mininep, Blanc, Tiff, Thraviar, Mojang, Histoire, ourselves and Do.... I think we miss our most psychotic "Team member" who has an inordinate amount of firepower and rage.

At best, she mops up the new caverns hostieles, at worst, she is running around outside of our fortress.

She's attuned to it, but it's not- for lack of a better word- /alive/. It's not connected to the belief system of the living, breathing nation that she's a part of (i.e. Planeptune).

>>45979131
To be fair, it's not a matter of Neptune being incapable of being serious; we just haven't actually gotten her to that point yet!

Also, IIRC, we've seen Neptune herself in CPU Purple Heart form all of... what, two times? Three times? And Urist was really only present for one of those times.

She's not the main character, so she takes her role as comic relief very seriously.

Maybe it is not the fastest option, but it leaves enough people back to restrain Tiff and Thraviar if they are back to fighting and an extra hand if they need to do something else in addition to restraining those 2.

In that case bring everyone. Nep is annoying but she deserves some sister time too. Besides mini-nep is our daughter, not sister. Which makes us neptune's stepmom. Which means we can make her clean floors.

The Neps can locate, Mojang and Nep (with some help) can mine it, and you can talk to Mojang while the Neps Nep it up.

Plutia showing up would be one of the worst occurences we could have.... exept if it is the difinitive final boss fight and we can send her back in an instant, regardless if Pluti wants to or not. (and blocking her from entering.)

I wonder how Neptune's going to react when we finally switch back and she finds herself with her human(?) mind inside her CPU body. (Is human the right word? Calling it "Neptune's min in CPU Purple Heart's body" doesn't sound right since TECHNICALLY it's the same person, but...)

I seriously dont want to have them fighting again. Also, if possible, make it so that blanc can free them fast if there is a situation.

Okay, we'll pick up next time with [X] [EVERYONE]! And also add in a bit about restraining the two fighting lunkheads before going in. I totally forgot about Daylight Savings Time and got terrified when it abruptly became 3 am, goddamn

Next thread will be on... let's say MONDAY, 3/14, at 8-ish pm EST! As always, I'll post updates (and/or changes) at https://twitter.com/BlorpQuest, and questions and stuff can go here or to ask.fm/BlorpQuest.

Thanks for participating, guys, and I hope you all enjoyed the thread! Apologies for the late start time, and also for that 2 hour wait for that one stupidly long post. G'night!

She doesn't become a different person when she transforms, she just acts differently. All the CPUs do, she's just the most obvious case. It's like how somebody might act differently when they're working than when relaxing amongst friends.

The way that you worded that is making my eye twitch.

Are you insinuating that Blanc got split into 2 different bodies (HDD form and human), the human persona stuck in the HDD body, and someone running around in the human form?

And if Neptune is affected by the same thing...she's retained all her godly powers (albeit they're at Urist's disposal).

Ye gods, am I overthinking things?

>[ ] [YOU, MOJANG, MINI-NEP] Because you are a terrible person who torments the Nep.
As much as having another miner (with actual mining powers!) could speed things up, its the Nep. The Nep always makes things more difficult. We don't need distractions when there's the potential for mega fauna to rip our faces off.
