You are a barely 30 minutes old Manticore hatcling, sticky with what remains of eggwhites and blood. Seconds after hatching you've already dismembered your first victim and well on your way to geek mages like any good predator should. Currently you are navigating a dungeon with some peasant knights that are leading you to the surface, they seem to be aware that you are in fact summoned to this world. Their leader is this big armor clad ogre named Druzag and he is still trying to pry information out of you, but you wont have it, the pout is still there and it's staying as far as you are concerned.

That is, as long as you can keep it up, your right arm is absolutely busted, your stomach still hurt from being kicked by that asshole elf and you are pretty certain you got a light concussion.

Roll Willpower to keep the pout up, target 30
> 1 DoF: Keep the pout up damnit
> 2 DoF: Try to keep it up, but wince slightly
> 3 DoF: Noticeably show pain on your face, tears are forming in your eyes
> 4 DoF: Can't hold the the back the flood, break down

It's Degree of Failure yeah, for every 10 a roll is failed adds another DoF

So 0-9 is 1 DoF, 10-19 is 2 DoF and so on

With a 99 roll we better get someone some more rolls or it's time to bawl over and ruin that sulky look

[3 DoS] You muster your willpower and stick to it, you let everyone know that your are VERY discontent with this entire deal.

The Ogre is walking ahead of you, occasionally stealing a glance back over to you, he looks slightly concerned.

"Look, I know this isn't ideal, you need to face reality, you are in an unknown place. I'm sure you realize that you could benefit from relying a bit on us"

You turn your face sideways and let out a small "hmph"

The dungeon is changing from the interior of a stone building to a cave as you are walking up a steep slope. Talking idly Druzag continues without looking over this time. "This particular dungeon was discovered about 300 years ago, seems like some mage decided to leach off one of the cities other dungeons by tunneling closer, seeping mana from it's leyline"

Walking up the slope you suddenly have an urge for a milkshake.

"Our order, the Wide Arche, is tasked with controling and securing the strategic resources, first amongst is the mana gathered in the dungeons below the city"

He's looking back again and finally convinces himself that you are not interested. After a while the rest of the men start chatting idly amongst themself, mostly how they are going to kick it back at some tavern or visit a brothel.

The cave is shifting back into what appears to be a cellar as you are walking, Druzag is turning back to you again.

"Beyond this door we will be up on the surface, in one of the outerliering districts of Tripact City, I wish to underline that you are by no means our prisoner, but in your current state I would advice you to follow us back to our headquarter"
"It would hardly be proper of us to let you roam the streets on your own, even if you technically aren't a child despite your appearances. Or so I am assuming, it's not like you have been forthcoming so far"
>>
>>45984603
Two of the knights opens the door and you find yourself looking out over a rather large city from a small height on the inside of the city walls. There's a very big river separating the city in two, no there's a delta, three pieces.

You have to admit, if you arent the knight's prisoner, parting with them here nearly naked, pennyless, and no knowledge about this world seems daunting. On the other hand you don't really know if you can trust them, as far as you know they might try to exploit you the same as the bastard elf and the geeks tried earlier.

>for every 10 a roll is failed
I think he means for every 10 a roll is failed *by*, it's a degree of failure.
So (assuming roll-under), if the target is 40, it's one DoF for rolling 41-50, two DoF for 51-60, etc.

Ok, so what am I and why would it be bad for me to wander around on my own? Aside from the whole "don't know shit about where I am" thing?

>>45984644
I dunno man it'st still pretty scary either way. From the ring surrounding it would actually have a greater chance of hitting a major artery if it went off during sex. That's not to say that getting your urethral spike injection wouldn't be horrifying, but it would be more survivable.
If tail pussy is going to be something that actually has major part in the quest, you might want to go ahead and transfer over to akun before you cop a ban here.

You say nothing, but follow along. Druzag seems slightly relieved that you are willing to follow them so far.

Walking trough the city you draw a lot of stares, not so much due to your animalistic parts, you would guess that half of the population are demi-humans, but rather because you probably look absolutely menacing drenched in blood like you are. There are actual guts still mixed into the furs of your left paw after gutting one of the geeks.

As you walk around you see marketstands all around, you are very reminded that you are in some sort of fantasy world.

Eventually you make your way to a small compound with a girded gate, it's guarded by knights in similar looking armors like the ones that are escorting you.

Inside a woman salutes Druzag, she is a young woman with a short brown ponytail. Come to think of it, they all the knights look rather young. Maybe that's why they were called peasant knights?

The woman looks over to you before resuming her talk with Druzag. "I take it we failed our mission? The council won't be happy about that. I don't see Triandal in cuffs either, they really wont like this.."

"I'll write up a report later, for now I would appreciate it if you can't help our friend here get a bath and maybe get her talking, she's been making that face ever since"

She's lowering her voice to a whisper, but it seems your ears are quite sensitive.
"What did Triandal do to her, I don't recall him or his minions have any affinity with blood magick"
"It's more like what did she do to Triandal, when we arrived at the inner sanctum she had killed him off and most of his goons. The few remaining accolytes were fleeing by the time we got there. I'll arrange interrogations later"
"Is she dangerous"
"Honestly I don't know, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt so far"

Seems like she needs a moment to compose herself before she approaches you

"I'm Gerwine, vice captain of this order. You are already familiar with our captain Druzag even if it seems like you arent on speaking terms"
"Let's get you into a bath and maybe we can get you on speaking terms? I'm sure you actually have a lot of questions, maybe you are worried about what is going to happen to you or how you are going to live from now on?" She's fishing, your pout is is danger..

"It's also hard to address you as you haven't given your name yet.."

Drat, thats true, you can't give your real name. After all, it's a male name and you suddenly feel very concerned again about your lacking tool. The pout, your emotions were briefly showing, emergency measures are needed to reinforce your face into a frown again.

She's showing a small smile, all this effort keeping the sulking demeanor up down the drain
"Seems like we'll be able to have a small chat after all. But first we need to get you a warm bath"

I think the largest problem people have with Male love interests in these quests is because the OP's are usually straight males, so aren't really able to write attractive personalities for said love interests, so they usually end up as bland or uninteresting, or get the type of personality that sits comfortably in the friend zone.

>>
>>45994884
The fact that someone went outta their way to explain the anatomy of a manticore-girl's tail-bulb.
>>
>>45994884
That's an absolutely horrible design for barb shooting. Best case scenario the manticore has to learn to aim differently for each individual spike position, and every aiming method is incredibly awkward because it requires her to curve the tail away from what she's aiming at and reposition the tail between every shot. It's also positioned such that accidental firing during sex would rip off the nutsack of her partner and have a fantastic chance of puncturing both femoral arteries.
>>
>>45995098
orrr they can just smack you with the tail like a fucking morning star and jab the spikes in you before unlatching it from the tail. at least thats how it works in my head
>>
>>45995451
Saying "well it could just not be for shooting" went out the window when we used it to shoot one of the mages in thread 1.
>>
>>45995098
It probably works less like a gun and more like a sling, given the musculature of the tail. Straight line shooting just won't work with that, but an arced swing just might.
>>
>>45995583
The description of the shot in-quest sounded more like a gun than a sling. And even if it is a sling, it still has the problem of requiring a new set of movements for each individual barb position except it'd be even worse because the tail wouldn't be able to shoot some of the barbs without swinging down and launching them between her legs.

Only way for this thing to not be impractical to the point of being more dangerous to the manticore is for the bulb to be able to suck itself partially inside out so that the spikes shoot directly at whatever the tip aims at.
>>
>>45995712
Like I said, a sling-like movement is more plausible but it's still a nightmare to figure out how to fire those barbs any direction other than right back up the tail.
